There's no way we're pulling any DNA out of here. No. Heard whoever did this has done [music] it before. Yeah, it's looking like it. Check it out. It's nail polish. What color did the offender use on the victims? Green. Well, now there's no doubt. >> [music] >> Dude. We're bringing him [music] in. He's clean. Nothing outstanding. [music] No warrants, nothing. We're bringing him in. Okay. Mr. Yates, it looks like your car was reported as being involved in a hit-and-run where a pedestrian was injured. Do you know anything about that? No, I don't. I've owned the car for [music] 3 weeks. Besides, if you if you check the front bumper, does it does it look like anything's been hit? It's probably a false report. You're still going to need to come in till we clear this up, sir. So, if you get out of the car. Recognize him? He wore a baseball [music] cap and it was night. I mean, it could be him. I'm sorry. I can't [music] say for sure. You uh Do you know this woman? No. Her? Her? Her? Hm? No. No. No. No. Are any of these the pedestrian that the car I'm purchasing supposedly [music] struck, that is the reason that I was brought in? Am I correct? Shave your arms? Doctor. My whole body, actually. It's for cycling. [music] Helps reduce drag. I'm new to the city. [music] Uh What's the best spot around here for cycling? I don't know. My bike's still in storage. [music] Am I under arrest? I do have a general sense of my rights [music] as a US citizen. You're free to go. You got a sec? Go ahead. My brother ordered a pizza the night Victoria was assaulted. The delivery guy'll vouch. Jay's been cleared as a suspect. Wonderful. Moving on. I told him about Greg Yates. Get this. They worked together for a minute in the same hospital. Yates was one of his professors in med school. He's got an opinion about him. All right, where's Will now? He's downstairs. Go get him. Sir? He was one of those instructors that made the students call him by his first name. Like to hang out at the bars we went to. Some bought into it, but I always got a creepy vibe. Someone invited him out to a party one night, and Yates corners me. Starts talking about who has the best ass. Who he'd like to have sex with first. Deborah McCollough was at that party. The nurse who went missing. Was it the night she went missing? No. It was like 3 nights before that. But they were both there. Could have easily met her that night. Lindsay? You have a call. It's Greg Yates. Sorry I'm a little late. You look great, by the way. So, what was it you could only tell me in the park at night? Want to go grab a cup of coffee? It's too cold to sit. >> [music] >> Come on. I'm harmless. We can talk right [music] here. No. Want some coffee? >> [music] >> It's close. I promise. Or you you can sit here and I'll see you when I see you. >> [music] >> He's shifting positions. We lost sight of Lindsay. I do this walk at night. The skyline, it's uh so beautiful. It stuns me every time. Hm. Why did you ask me to meet you in the park if you wanted to get coffee? Oh, it's nothing nefarious. I changed my mind. It's cold. You know what I think? I think it's a move to assert control over the situation and over me. Your sergeant has gotten in your head. Don't let him think for you. You're better than that. Have you been following what's been going on in Egypt, post-revolution? No. Well, >> [snorts] >> they finally got rid of Mubarak in 2011. Do you remember this at all? There's much fanfare and jubilation. The people are free. The people have spoken. But when the euphoria ebbs, as it inevitably does, what are they left with? High crime, raided antiquities, unrest. See, you can unclench the iron fist of that dictator, and that that's great, but you are not really prepared for what's on the other side. You know what they call that, Detective? The law of unintended consequences. [music] >> know why I think you wanted to meet me. Because I'm 5'5". I have brown hair. Exactly like all those women that were murdered. Is that so? Why don't we talk about that instead of hiding behind all this history 101 crap? Tell me what happened. I know that you want to. Who do I remind you of? Your mom? An ex-girlfriend, maybe? Come on. More rats, Detective. Remember that. He's playing a game. He knows it's just a matter [music] of time. We'll get him. Boy. Sergeant. She's Wallace Bolton. >> [music] >> We got another body. It's arson, if you ask me. I just can't prove that right now. Is there any way to tell whether or not it was started remotely? We'll search for an incendiary device, but even if the device survived the fire, it'd be weeks, maybe months before any conclusion, unless if we got lucky. That's why he was with Lindsay when it started. Plausible deniability. >> [sighs] [music] >> And what is she, 18? What's this? Green nail polish. CHICAGO PD! CHICAGO PD! CLEAR! CLEAR! CLEAR! BASEMENT. >> [music] [music] >> There's ammonia. Got a lot of it. >> [music] >> He was just here. Hello. Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! >> [panting] >> Hey. It's okay. I'm the police. Are you all right? My daddy. I need you to stay right where you are, okay? >> [groaning] [music] >> Nelly Carr? Do I know you? No. I know you. Do you remember what you talked about? He was showing us a photo of Professor Carr on his phone. Wait, Carr? Nelly Carr? Yes, he said she was his college girlfriend and he was in town for the week. She was covering a class. I told him she was on her way to the parking lot. Come on. Okay, thank you. So, he was looking for Nelly Carr this whole time. First at the [music] apartments, then here. She's 40-something with red hair. That doesn't make sense. >> Well, neither does the MO from this morning, but everyone who ID'd him said he was specifically looking for her. Hey guys. There's a note left in the car Yates drove here. >> [music] >> Too bad you're at the station, Erin. You're missing all the fun. What the hell is going on? A multi-state manhunt began yesterday when convicts Gregory Yates [music] and Carl Rudnick escaped through a sewage pipe at Greenhaven Correctional in New York State. Mr. Rudnick has been recaptured, but Mr. Yates is at large. A suspect in multiple New York killings [music] and this morning's murder of four Chicago nurses and the abduction of a nursing teacher from Chicago's Nursing College. Yates [music] was serving a life sentence for murder and aggravated criminal sexual assault. >> [music] >> Multiple officers have been dispatched on foot patrol with canine units and helicopters added. [music] The intelligence unit has been called in to lead this investigation. Just to me? What is Okay. Oh. Erin, don't. Why don't you answer the phone when your mother calls? He knows she opened the box. He's here and watching. Found out now. Go, go, go, go. That means this morning it wasn't funny who called, it was Yates. He must have spoofed you. He called from his phone and made it look like your mom. >> Just answer it. Detective Lindsay. Hey. Do you know Nelly Carr? Nelly, nurse Nelly. Hey. That is the wonderful Detective Lindsay. Do you What is dark circles under your eyes? Couldn't sleep? You've been keeping me busy. You have my attention now. What do you need? Uh Gosh, what do I need now? Did you want the concern of the city? You got that. Wanted the whole district to sit up? Look. See? >> [music] >> You did all this. You keep sending notes to me. So, why don't you tell me where you are? I'll come to you. Oh, you know where I am. Why don't you pretend I'm not that clever and tell me anyway? And ruin all the fun? Then tell me why you killed those four nurses when what you really wanted was Nelly. You are trying to get me to confess with witnesses present. You are recording me without my permission and me without a lawyer present. Shame on you, Detective. Okay. Okay. Then why me? Why are you leaving all the notes for me? I've been thinking a lot about Cain and Abel, you know? If they were the only descendants of Adam and Eve and Cain killed Abel, well, you know what that means, don't you? They're pinging his phone right now. We're all descendants of a murderer. I will see you soon, Detective. No, CUT THAT. AH, DAMN IT. CAR DOWN, they lost him. Mouse. [music] How does he know where she is and what we've been doing? I know. >> [music] >> Your phone. Let me see your phone. Detective Lindsay's phone. It's using five times the regular data. That means it's spyware. Yeah. Okay, he's been listening in on conversations. [music] He's probably been reading texts, emails and can turn on the camera in the car and in the bullpen. But how would he have access to it? When? When we went to the jail, we had to surrender our phones. The corrupt guard. Give it to me. Right. >> [music] >> Guys, I know where he is. He's in my apartment. This picture's at my [music] place. Let's go. >> [music] [music]
