So, the reason that I'm stopping you is cuz you were kind of bouncing back and forth in your lane and you were kind of riding along that white line for a little bit. So, I just want to make sure you weren't intoxicated or anything like that. >> I mean, I I think I'm fine. I only had two drinks. I feel good. >> All right. So, we'll start with your left foot on the line. >> I'm just nervous as hell. >> I think you had a little bit too much to drink tonight. Okay. So, I'm going to have to take you back. You have no legal right to refuse to give or delay giving samples of your breath. Any response from you that's ambiguous or conditional and any respect to my request that you provide breath samples will be treated as a refusal to submit to breath testing. >> This isn't going to go into paper and all that cuz like I work in a school. >> I hear you. So it's a like I said it's a traffic ticket. It's not criminal. >> No. And it's No. No. But I [ __ ] up. >> There's three tickets that I have to write. I'm only writing you the ones that I'm required to write. March 23rd, 2025, around 12:41 a.m. in Freehold Township, New Jersey. Driving a black 2022 Kia K5, Pamela A. Reed was heading home after a night out at Moors Tavern, where she said she had two Titos in water. On Monmouth Road, her car was seen weaving between the fog line and the double yellow center line, even drifting onto the grass at one point. Despite several chances to stop, she continued driving until finally pulling over into a business entrance. That's where officers approached. And what happened next was all caught on body cam. [Applause] >> Hi, how are you? >> Good. How are you? >> You're good here. I know it's an awkward area, but I'm officer Airheart with the Fre Police Police Department. Just so you know, the stop's being recorded. And please have your license, registration, insurance card. All right. >> Hey, hold on. >> Where you coming from tonight? Um, >> Morris. >> Morris. Just headed home now. >> What? >> Just headed home now. >> Yeah. >> Gotcha. >> I'm sorry. >> No problem. Was it crowded over there tonight? >> Not really. >> Not really. For Saturday. >> For Saturday, there was a band that played that we see all the time in Hamilton. >> Oh, yeah. >> So, I went to go see them. >> Which band? >> Oh, Kaban. >> Gotcha. >> All right. Give your registration insurance cards as well. Perfect. >> How much did you have to drink over there tonight? >> Two. Titos and water. >> Two Titos and water. Gotcha. >> But I don't have glasses on, so I can't >> Okay. I'm sorry. >> No problem. I can take a look at what you got and kind of fish through it if it's a it's hard to see. >> All right. Desktop card's good. And let's see. Registration's good. All right. You take these back. You could actually throw them away. They're all expired. Uh I I got your good cards. >> Oh, yeah. All right. I'm just going to take a look at everything. I'll be right back with you. Okay. You care for Sorry, I stepped on you. 273 is 104 and I'm going to have one out testing out 45. All right, do me a favor. Just hop out real quick. We'll just make sure you're good to drive and as long as you're good, we'll send you on your way to get you home. All right, this is what I'm going to have you do since it's a congested area. We'll step over to the other side here. All right, cuz we got a nice clear shutdown road over here. All right, you can uh face me. Do you wear glasses or contacts? I do. >> I'm going to check your eyes for Right. You said you wear glasses. Um, do you have any other problems with your eyes? >> No. >> Nothing like that. No neurological problems that mess with your eyes. N. >> All right. >> Do the best we can. You have them with you? >> Yeah. >> All right. Let's do this. >> Can you see the top of my pen right here? >> Yeah. >> Would you feel more comfortable with your glasses on? >> No. >> Okay. So, just follow the top of the pen up here. >> Sure. >> With your eyes and your eyes only. And don't move your head. Okay. >> Do you understand? >> Yep. Okay. >> All right. Yeah, you just turn it. So, keep your head straight and just follow with your eyes. Just going to hold it out there. Air is getting mad. [Music] All [Music] right, almost done with this. Okay. Let's see. How big are you here? Your heels. You think you could walk uh in a straight line with them? Okay. So, the next test we'll do the walk and turn. >> You have any problems with your back? Yeah, you can rest your eyes for a second. >> I know it's windy. >> No, >> no problems with your back or your uh legs or anything like that. Nothing that would affect your balance. >> No. >> Okay. So, we'll use this line on the ground right here as a straight line. >> So, what I want you to do first is put your left foot on the line. Put your right foot in front of it touching heel to toe like this. And your arms down at your side. And just stay in that position until I tell you to start. >> All right. Keep your arms down at your side. That's okay. >> That's okay. Just keep your arms down at your side. All right. So, when I tell you to start, I want you to take nine heel to toe steps on the line. Turn around and take nine heel to toe steps back. It's going to look like this. Okay? Don't start yet. Yeah. Stay in that position. All right. It's going to look like this. One, two, three. I'm doing three, but I want you to go all the way up to nine. >> And once you get to that ninth step, keep your front foot planted and then turn around with the other foot like this, taking a series of small steps. Oh my goodness. I haven't person at all this >> three all the way up to nine back. All right. Um, so don't start yet. >> So at all times, I want you to look down at your feet, count out loud, and don't stop until the test is complete. >> Okay. >> All right. You understand all that? >> Fine. >> Hang on. You understand all that? >> Yes. >> You don't want me to demonstrate, explain anything else? All right. It's all good. >> All right. So, we'll start with your left foot on the line. >> I'm just nervous as hell. So, now >> you're It's okay. >> All right. It's all good. So, your left foot on the line >> and then your right foot in front of it like this. >> And then you can start from there. >> 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10. >> Yep. >> I'm really scared. >> It's okay. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 Okay, you can turn around and face me. And then one more. Okay, sure. >> So, for this one, I want you to pick either leg. It doesn't matter which one. And you're going to raise it about 6 in off the ground like this. Look down at your foot. Keep your leg straight. and count out loud like this. 1,00 1,002 1,003 and so on until I tell you to stop. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, make sure, like I said, look down at your foot. Count out loud and just keep your legs straight. >> All right. 1 2 1,003 1,004 1,005 I don't have good balance. 1,0006 100, 107 100, 108, 109,0, 11,00 12. >> Okay, you can stop. >> 13. >> You can stop. >> Did I fail? >> We're going to just head over here. All right, good. Traffic stops. Why don't we just head over here back to your car? All right, we'll come off the road over here. >> All right. So, you going to stick with only two drinks tonight? >> Yes. >> How big were they? >> No. I mean, there was more. >> Yeah. So, big ones. Maybe >> Cheetos, water, wine. >> Okay. So, I think you had a little bit too much to drink to drive tonight. Okay. So, I'm going to have to take you back. We're going to blow into the breathalyzer and we'll see where you at. Okay. >> Here. >> No. We're going to go back to headquarters. Okay. So, I'd have to place you under arrest for DWI. Okay. So, turn around. Face your car for me. 273's got a 41 450. Put your hands behind your back. But you're going to get out tonight. You're not going to jail or anything like that. >> So, I just like >> This is just a driving offense. It's a ticket. It's not criminal. Like I said, you're going to blow in the box tonight and you're going to get released. Someone's going to come pick you up. Okay. >> And we'll see uh we'll see where you're at and we'll go from there. >> But based on what I'm seeing out here, I think you had pretty much a drink of All right. >> We'll step right back to this car. This first car. >> Can I get my purse? >> I'll get it for you. Where is it? >> The Well, >> right on the passenger seat. >> I have two bags. >> Okay. >> I have one with all my stuff in it and then the other one with other stuff. Like the small bag has all my like license and all that. >> Okay. I'll grab that stuff for you. Um, do you have anything on you in your pockets? >> Yep. >> I'm just going to check real quick. >> Sure. Okay. >> Have a seat. Sure. >> I'll put your seat belt on you. I know it's lacking. All right. Just hang tight for now. Okay. Okay. Plaza mic reinforcement. Hey dog. >> Could you smell her? >> Yeah. >> Standing there. >> Yeah. >> Yep. >> Yeah. That's true. I didn't even know this was out here tonight. I lit her up by Eli and then all of a sudden there were cones and I was like, "Ah crap." So, thank God this little place was here. It was easy for her to pull in. All right. She wants her little bag and her big bag. I think that's the The one guy down there just had his hand out the window turning the stop sign. >> Who is it? Is it state police? >> Oh, so as I went past I'm like, doesn't look like state police. Who's stealing our jobs out here? >> All right. Uh, is it not perfect? Nope. >> No. I'll take a peek in the uh >> You got it. >> No, this is >> house keys. Check the first maybe, you know. Just give me some light here. You're good. So that doesn't gave me a multitask. >> You good? I know. Me, too. >> No, probably. >> You could. I thought it was going to be easy, but then I'm looking more and more and more. Yeah. >> All right. Perfect. Thank you. All right. So, I'm going to get your big bag and your little bag. And then where's your car keys? >> Oh, I It's a fob. So, it's inside my wallet and my little bag. >> In the wallet in the little bag. Got it. Thank you. Did you hear that? Yeah. >> All right. >> Thank you, sir. >> And where's the big purse? >> Yeah. Now you can step out. asking a lot with my lunch. >> Oh, I can uh I can give you hand if you need it. You okay there? >> All right. I'm just going to grab your stuff out of the front seat. Okay. >> What' you say? >> Yeah. I'm like a typical mom. >> I hear you. >> My kids will be 30 next week. I'm going to be 58 in a month. >> Okay. >> I've never gotten in trouble. >> That's good. nitrogen drinks. >> Yeah, like I said, we'll uh we'll have the opportunity to blow and uh we'll see what your blood alcohol content. All right, I'm going to get those handcuffs off you as soon as we get inside. You step in there for a minute. [Applause] Heat. Heat. Thank you. One second. >> Yeah, perfect. All right. You stand up for a second, please. Yeah, perfect. All right. You can have a seat for now. >> I think I saw you spit your gum out, right? Do you have anything else in your mouth? >> It's in my hair. >> Is it? I think I saw it on the seat. I think it fell out. It fell out. >> Yeah, I don't see it in your head. >> Can you open your mouth for me? Nothing else in there. Okay. >> Okay. Can you start a 20-minute observation period, please? >> All right. Still live in Cream Ridge. >> Yep. Is that Longacre? >> Yep. >> Uh that's that's a good address for you. >> Yep. All right. So, let's do first since it's a little bit of a drive. Um like I said, you're going to get picked up tonight. So, you want to call somebody to to start making their way over here? >> Yeah. Okay. >> Um my husband will kill me. Maybe I'll call my friend. >> Whatever works for you. Whoever's going to be able to get here. >> Answer. Can I call another >> I don't care who picks who picks up who comes calling? >> Um do you know their number? >> Yeah. No, it's on my phone which is God probably in a little in a little bag. >> I need my glasses too. >> No problem. >> You just give them a call in there. I think this is dead anyway. >> Um yeah, you'll be ready to go in probably like 45 minutes to an hour. So if they want to start making their way, >> that would be good. >> Family color. >> Did you see my message? >> Your message? >> Yeah. >> No. What's up? >> Is Verizon still out there with >> Yeah. Yeah, they were. >> They were. >> I didn't expect to roll up on them. >> They were on candle light, right? Or something. Uh they have they're flagging like a good quarter mile section at 537. >> Oh, they are. >> Yeah. Yeah. They had a whole work zone set up. >> Hey, I got pulled over. Any chance? No. Any chance you could come get me? >> Yeah. You can't hear me? >> So, I got pulled over. Any chance you could get me? You're at the Freehold Township Police Department. >> Yes. No, I'm Upper Freehold. >> Freehold Township is where you're at now. >> Yes. I'm in >> different upper Freehold. >> Okay. I'll come get No, I mean I have to get Brian. I'll call Brian. I just didn't want to wake him. Is they like about an hour? >> Yeah. I'm at the Freehold >> Freehold Township >> Freehold Township Police Department. >> All right. Thank you. Who? >> Okay. >> As long as they have a license, that's good. >> As long as they have a license. >> All right. Thank you. Bye. >> Okay. >> The kids will come get me. >> Perfect. >> All right. Now that we have that, you just put that stuff back and then I got a few things to read together. >> Sure. >> Hopefully a packet here that's not in Spanish. You can have a seat. >> It's going to be a little bit >> um after I mean how bad do you have to go? Can you can you wait like 20 minutes? >> Yeah. >> Okay. because then we'll have to start everything over again if you go. So [Music] statement All right, we'll print the rest and deal with this for now. All right, so the first thing I'm going to read to you is something we read to everybody that gets arrested for uh DWI. It's kind of an explanation of everything that's going to happen next. So, um you've been arrested for driving while intoxicated. It's NJSA 394-50. The law requires you to submit samples of your breath for the purpose of testing to determine alcohol content. A record of taking of the breath samples, including the test results, will be made, and upon your request, a copy of that record will be made available to you. After you provided breath samples for testing, you have the right at your own expense to have a person, physician, or physician of your own uh selection take independent samples of your breath, blood, or urine for independent testing. If you refuse to provide samples of your breath, you'll be issued a separate summon for the refusal. A court may find you guilty of both the refusal and driving while intoxicated. If a court court finds you guilty of the refusal, you'll be subject to various penalties, including a license revocation of up to 20 years, a fine of up to $2,000, installation of an ignition interlock, and a referral to an intoxicated driver resource center. These penalties may be in addition to any other penalties imposed by the court for any other offense of which you're found guilty. You have no legal right to have an attorney, physician, or anybody else present for the purpose of taking the breath samples. You have no legal right to refuse to give or delay giving samples of your breath. Any response from you that's ambiguous or conditional and any respect to my request that you provide breath samples will be treated as a refusal to submit to breath testing. So, even if you agree to take the test, but you don't follow my instructions, do not properly perform the test, or do not provide sufficient breath samples, I will charge you with refusal to submit to breath testing. >> You know what? Okay. Can >> I call my husband instead of my friend's kid? >> Yeah. >> I have one more line. So I repeat, so the law requires you to submit samples of your breath for testing. Will you submit samples of your breath? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Okay. Yep. Go ahead. You can uh you make it out. >> Let me call my friend. >> That's the long-winded part out of the way. >> Fail. And then >> what' you say? >> No. I'm going to just tell my friend not to send her daughter. I'll just call my husband. >> Okay. All right. I'm going to call Brian. I don't want to get your kids in the middle of all this. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Let me call Brian. It's crazy because he'll get pissed that I didn't call him. >> I don't I have no idea. I have to do a breathalyzer thing, but let me call Brian. I don't want your kids to get involved. >> 8900. It's an easy one to remember. >> Yeah. Well, >> I don't know. I don't want to get them in the middle of all of this. They'll be here in 20 minutes. Okay. >> Is that a problem? Like, >> no, that's fine. There's They'll have to wait probably 15 minutes. >> They'll have to sign a liability form for you, too. >> Yeah, they're going to have to sign something. I don't want to put them in the middle of all this. Let me call Brian. A liability thing. Liability Really? All right. All right. Thanks. >> Township. So, one municipal plaza. >> Township. One municipal plaza. >> It's at the corner of Shanken Stillwell's corner. >> All right. Are you sure? Cuz I feel I'm in. All right. Thanks. No, I just don't want them to be in the middle of all this. This is crazy. All right. Okay. Bye. >> All right. >> Okay. >> Yep. >> Thanks. All right. So, one more thing I got to read to you is your rights. >> So, I'm just going to read each line to you. Are you lefty or righty? >> Righty. >> Okay. So, I guess this way will work better for you. So after each line, I'm just going to ask you to initial if you understand. >> So you have the right to remain silent and refuse to answer any questions. >> Here. >> Yep. If you understand. >> Oh my gosh. >> No, that's okay. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. You have the right to consult with an attorney before speaking to the police and to have an attorney present before and during questioning. All right. If uh you do not have the money to obtain an attorney, one will be obtained for you at no cost to represent you before questioning. The decision to renounce these rights is not final and can be revoked when you so desire before during questioning. Okay. So, having this in mind, >> so can I just ask you like this isn't going to go in the paper and all that cuz like I work in a school. >> I hear you. So, it's a like I said, it's a traffic ticket. It's not criminal. >> Um I don't know what they have access to or or what they >> No, no, no. This can be like from here put out. >> Oh, you mean like the paper like No, nothing like that. It's not getting published or you're not >> you're not going to the newspaper or anything like that. It's not like that. >> So, having this in mind, I certify that I've been notified of my constitutional rights as so indicated by my initials above and that I understand these rights. So, just your full signature uh if you understand. Yep. You can just sign right over it. >> Okay. So, this one's a question. So, having in mind these rights, I desire to renounce them and give a voluntary declaration and answer any questions. Sure. >> So, I have a question packet to go through if you'd like to answer those. Yeah. If you'd like to answer my questions, you could just sign there. All right, sounds good. Take that. Okay. Okay, that's the long-winded stuff out of the way. So, I appreciate you bearing with me for that. You got it? >> Yep. >> Okay. Just in case. >> Sure. >> All right. What's a good email address for you? Okay. All right. >> This is that question packet I was telling you about. >> Sure. >> So, some of them are a little silly, but we go through these with everybody. Okay. Okay. So, you're not wearing false teeth, invisible braces, or mouth guard or anything like that, right? >> Yeah. Okay. >> All right. Were you operating a vehicle? >> Yep. >> Where were you going? >> Home. And what street or highway were you on? >> 539. No, 537. >> And you know your direction of travel? >> East West. >> Uh, is it south? 53. >> And where did you start from? >> Morris. >> And what time did you start driving? >> Best guess. >> Midnight. Midnight, >> 12:30, >> whatever the man is. >> And without looking at the clock, do you know what time it is now? >> Like 1:15. >> Pretty good. >> What town are you in now? >> What >> What town are you in now? >> Oh, Freehold. And what's today's date? >> Uh 22nd 23rd. Oh, after midnight. >> March. >> Yeah. >> And what day of the week is it? >> I guess we're into Sunday. >> When did you last eat? GH probably. So >> you have a lot to eat tonight, right? >> Yeah, pro. I don't eat a lot. So probably had dinner around >> 6:30, 7:00. >> Okay. >> 6:30 7. >> Yeah, something like that. >> I think it wasn't like a major meal, but >> And what did you eat? >> I don't eat a lot. So, I was warming up food for my husband. So, probably like pieces of meat in between, steak, a couple bites, like not a formal meal. >> Okay. And what were you doing in the last 3 hours? >> Dancing at Right. >> Have you been drinking? >> Yeah, I got there at M 8:30 and I had two drinks throughout the night. >> 8:30. So, when did you stop drinking? When did you finish that last drink? >> I don't know. Cuz I hold on to the glass and I actually have them fill them up with water. So, I don't know, maybe 11 11:30. >> All right. And what were you drinking again? It was Tito's water and wine. >> And how much? Yeah. >> Well, two two drinks. I didn't make them, so I don't know. Like typical drinks. >> Uh, are you under the influence of an alcoholic beverage or any drugs at this time? >> Well, no drugs. Clearly, I had the drinks there. Uh, so what's your occupation? You said you work in the school. >> I'm an um instructional assistant. So I work with special needs kids. >> And when did you last work? You mean >> Friday? >> Friday, probably. All right. Do you have any physical defects? >> No. >> No. Are you ill? >> No. >> Do uh Okay. Do you limp? >> No. Well, I I just tore AC uh miniscus, but no. >> Oh, yeah. Do you have surgery for that? >> No. No, it's just healing. >> Torn. I went skiing two weeks ago, three weeks ago, >> Valentine's Day, when whenever that was. Okay. But I'm good. >> Is that when it happened? >> Yeah. >> Oh, really? >> So, >> and it just it healed on its own. You have to >> Well, it's it's, you know, slow, but it doesn't require surgery. I've been to a doctor and it's all good. >> Good. Okay. Weird question. Did you get a bump on the head? >> No. >> Like I said, they're they're silly, but >> it's fine. >> Were you involved in a crash today? >> No. No. And >> two times are you trying to receive? Thanks. All right, we'll put a pause on this because the machine is ready. So, we'll go to the other room and blow down. Take your license with you. And there's a few things you got to write down. All right. Do you That's a Fitbit, right? >> Yeah. >> Can you take that off for me? >> All right. Can I call my husband even though I have a person coming to get me? >> Sure. >> Thanks. 2024 Brandon Open garage door. >> I was right. What is it? I guess one one two 4 >> one two. >> Hey. >> All right. I'm sorry cuz I would call Brian and your mom was just like, "No, >> your address." >> All right. All right. I'm going to call him anyway just to tell him, but All right. I just have to wait. All right. Okay. Thanks. Bye. >> That's her street address. She's lock. >> I got I got Don't worry. Just put me on another one. Where's that? >> Yeah, it should still be in there. >> You're good, dude. I got it. All right. >> Um, yeah, however you want to do it. That's fine. >> Okay. So, don't freak out. I'm fine, but I got pulled over. >> Had a 911 hangup thing. brother and she called her daughter and her daughter [Music] >> and I only have two >> billion. >> Yeah. So anyway, I don't know what it is, but clearly I'm over it. But I feel fine. But um anyway, I don't know how it's going to affect us cuz I mean literally I had handcuffs and the whole thing. But I feel >> clearly not in the eyes of the law, >> but coming to get me. You don't have to come get me, but I just wanted to tell you, but I don't know how it's going to somewhere in my driveway. But it's just the insurance. I don't know how it's going to screw us up. I Okay, just hold on. It's They have all my stuff. So, like, you can't get it right now. I might have to. I'll ask them. My more concern is like my whole job and everything. They said it's just a traffic ticket at this point. It's not like it's out there, but I don't know how it's going toffect insurance. >> Well, I don't know. You didn't say that. advocate, but I do the fact that I have absolutely nothing on my end might help. I don't really know. >> No, I didn't. No, no, but I mean, I [ __ ] up. I mean, >> they're not gonna they're not going to say that. I mean, I will mention it to them, but they're not going to care. Um, my car. Does he have to Can I >> Monday? Monday. You can get it. >> Monday if we can get it >> here. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> I'll explain that to you. >> Freehold. It's all going to be written out. She's already here. So, I'm not, you know, but I just wanted to tell you. Okay, >> I will, but it's not going to matter. And I you know how I feel about that. Like, that's just ridiculous. But, okay, I will. I will, but there it's not going to matter. And honestly, I screwed up. So, um, but I will mention it. >> Okay. >> All right. >> I'll be home soon. I'm sorry. >> All right. Bye. My husband just wants me to tell you that his best friend was a >> state trooper killed in the line of duty. And then >> I'm sorry to hear that. Sorry. >> So, anyway, he wanted me to tell you that, but I knew it wouldn't matter. >> Yeah. Unfortunately, I mean, >> no, it's fine. cameras and stuff like that. >> Stakes certainly stakes and >> and that's it. All right. >> I don't feel like I'm like a massive mess. I'm just I weigh a little and I >> alcohol discting more. But can I use the bathroom now? >> Yes. Yes, you can. Um Okay. So, you have to use a cell. >> I don't care. >> Otherwise, I'll release 12. >> Otherwise, you're going to be out of here in like 10 minutes. You can use a real bathroom head. >> All right. I'll just wait. >> Okay. I just wanted to give you the out. >> I mean, I don't care, but I'll wait. >> It's up to you. Let me know if you need. >> It's fine. >> But, uh, all right.
