What's good everybody? Welcome back to Body Cam Vibes. Back with another body cam video we're going to react and discuss to. Shout out to EWU for this video. And welcome back Kiki. She was under the weather just like we both were. >> Yes, >> she finally back. Now we ready to do this, man. So, >> I know, right? All right, let's get into it, y'all. On Friday, April 4th, 2025, Norton Shores officers meet with a man named Robert who has concerns about his elderly neighbor. >> Well, the other day I come come by here and NY's garage doors open. >> Are you the neighbor? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> And so we came and went and um last night the garage door was still open. Today the garage door is still open and she don't do that. And whenever she goes she goes to check the mail, she locks her doors. Okay. And that door was open. You said it was >> Yeah. >> She had had a fall yesterday. >> How old did she ago? >> Yeah. Wednesday. It was Wednesday. >> How old is she? >> 64. Excuse me. 74. >> 74. Okay. >> The 74 yearear-old grandmother, Nancy Bloomquist, lives alone. Though they share that the house is slightly less tidy than Nancy likes to keep it, nothing inside leads them to believe there was a breakin or foul play. Yesterday she she called me and she kept saying, "My way till you get here so you can go to Little River." And I said, "We're not going to the 12 go to the doctor or call your doctor's office. You need to stay home." >> So you said she had a fall recently. She hit her head. When was that? >> Wednesday. >> And she wasn't right. >> What does not right mean? Can you help me clarify that a little bit? >> Talking almost like she had a stroke. I even told her, "Look at your pupils in the mirror." I did too. >> According to her friend Julie and her cousin Kelly, not only has she missed work every day since hitting her head, she also failed to show up for a lunchon that she organized for today. Robert speaks with the casino on speakerphone, hoping that she may be there. >> Bloom. >> I don't know how somebody could get so lucky. Unfortunately, the casino tells Robert they'll have to call him back, leaving them with no answers. Suddenly, another neighbor approaches the group. >> Hello. >> Something happened in >> Can't find her. >> She's missing right now. >> She left it. >> Yesterday afternoon? >> No, this morning. >> This morning? >> Yes. Went to the mailbox. Uh that was like 10:30 and left. And then I noticed her garage door have opened. >> Yeah, there's mail in the mailbox. >> Okay, that is weird. >> The neighbor's story offers hope that the situation isn't as bad as they feared, but NY's friend remains deeply concerned. >> I just worry because of that head injury. She just was not Nancy. >> The officer contacts dispatch and relays what he's learned and faces a difficult choice given the circumstances. Do you believe her life is in danger? >> I don't. I mean, possibly due to her suffering a head injury. Maybe she's not in the right head space, but I can't for sure say that she's a danger to herself as right now. >> Ryan, >> before making a decision, the officer tries calling NY's phone. >> Hello. >> Hello. Oh, is Nancy there? >> All right. Look at his face. >> I know. All right. You see his face, y'all? >> I'm I'm baffled. >> All right. Before we go on, man, what do you think going on, man? Think that's some dude that head injury? >> Think it might have something to do with the head injury? Or maybe if they didn't know that she fell like firsthand, like if she told them, maybe she was making it up and somebody is like I'm just thinking randomly like Yeah. Yeah, I know what you're saying. >> Like maybe somebody did it to her holding her hostage or you know what I'm saying? >> Yeah, I know what you're saying that. See, we didn't watch the video so we just going on theories right now. Yeah. Let's get back into it and see what's up with >> And like that. That's her phone number. Did a foreign person answer the phone? >> Oh, thanks. >> No. Okay, we're good. >> That's all. >> But even after trying the correct phone number, calls to Nancy go directly to voicemail. >> Maybe she's on a hot streak at the casino. >> You guys don't want to come over? >> Just wanted to go awall. >> Yeah. >> Oh, man. Not gonna like the answer you guys for. Unfortunately, we're not at the grounds of she's in immediate danger. So, we can't ping her phone >> even with the head injury, >> right? We need to prove that if this phone call doesn't happen, she's most likely going to die, which we are not at that point because we have to violate her rights and immediately contact her agency. We're not there. We already called. We can't do that. What we can do is put out a B for the entire county. So, every county, every officer in the county will have notification telling them to look for her car and look for her and check on her if you see her. stop her, check on her, make sure everything's okay, and then if her car is parked anywhere, abandoned anywhere, found anywhere, they'll know because it's going to have a B attached to it. >> The officer obtains a description of NY's car, a white 2024 GMC Terrain with a Michigan plate, though it leaves them with no comfort. All they can do is wait. By Saturday morning, April 5th, Nancy still hasn't made it home. >> She's not home. >> I know. We know. We've uh we've been looking into her location. We do know that she is up. She went up to the casino yesterday. They checked the hotels in the area and they checked with her brother up in Traverse City. He's not she's not there with him. So, that's as much information as we know. >> Oh my god. So, let's just wait and hope she shows up. >> Yep. >> Okay. By the late afternoon of April 5th, there's still no sign of Nancy, and officers have given no alerts indicating NY's car has passed any license plate readers. Given the circumstances, an officer contacts NY's brother and asks him to fill out a missing person's form. When he arrives to meet with him, he learns their timeline for her disappearance has been very wrong. this um neighbor uh Jamie here uh told me that she saw the door open which is uncharacteristic. My sister would never leave home leaving the door open so she was not of her right mind but anyway she saw that both >> Thursday >> when she went up to the casino and also Thursday evening at night and then also >> Friday Friday morning which would kind of indicate Nancy did not come back here on Thursday night. So, the neighbor over here >> probably had their dates confused. >> Though the neighbor claimed he saw NY's car leave at 10:30 a.m. on the Friday of the family's initial report, the reality is that she never made it home from the casino the day before. A sudden call to the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians Police Department brings a pivotal update. Um, surveillance has her walking out of the building at 510. >> 510 trying to locate her vehicle for about 30 minutes. >> Oh, wow. US 31. >> Oh, thank you for that information. So, that was about 5 540 you said? Yep. 5:40 p.m. >> As Nancy never made it home after leaving the casino, this means she hasn't been seen on cameras or heard from in roughly 47 hours. If her head injury was worse than anyone realized, and she truly suffered a stroke, every hour could mean the difference between life and death. Just as the trail runs cold at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 6th, a breakthrough sends the case in a new direction. Norton Shores officers are alerted by the Mason County Sheriff's Department that a landowner has discovered a damaged vehicle about 30 ft into the woods 13 mi south of Little River Casino. Though the car is so heavily burned that the VIN and license plate are allegible, trail cameras captured what appeared to be Nancy walking away from the burning car and further into the woods at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday night, 3 days earlier. K-9 units and multiple drone operators are dispatched to the area. And it isn't long before a drone operator sees a possible person lying in the woods. >> Oh jeez. >> Oh my god. >> Look at that. That is just shows how hard it is. >> Nine. I need my car. >> Unfortunately, your car kind of barbecued. >> I know. >> But we'll get you up and get you warm. Okay. >> I've been cold for days. >> Yeah. >> Um, >> are you hurt? >> No. >> Anybody got a thermal blanket in their car? >> I'm just freezing. >> I do not. According to the Mason County Sheriff, it rained heavily the night of NY's disappearance and temperatures plunged below freezing, adding a layer of suffering to her terrifying experience. >> Somebody grab it. >> Yep, we got it. >> We got it. We found it for you. >> Is that your winning? >> Let me put it in your pocket. I'm going to zip your pocket up. >> Oh, that's in my ATM. >> Get the stick out of your back. Okay. Do you think maybe you could stand up if we help you? >> You want to get a mega mover and just slide her out of here. >> I can grab her. >> You know, might as well. I don't know if she's going to be hurt or not. >> How about you just sit tight for a second? We'll help. >> We're going to We're going to get something to help you. Okay. We don't want you to get any hurt any more than you already are. >> Some I can't find my house. >> I know you. We'll help you do that. We're going to make sure we get you home. >> This is my home, but I can't find the house. >> I know. We'll get you it. Sometimes it gets a little tricky out here. >> With Nancy showing signs of confusion and disorientation, getting her to a hospital quickly is critical. However, an ambulance won't be able to drive to their location. Instead, an officer races to get one of the police SUVs. >> We found you. >> Did you find your phone? I have phone that slipped out of my hand. >> Oh, did it? >> I can't find it. I have to call Bob and ask him where my house was. Oh, >> you're all just walking right here. >> Way or what? >> Would have walked right past her. >> I can't find the driveway either. >> I know. We'll help you, though. >> It's quite the adventure you've been on. >> Horrible. >> Yep. You got one heck of a story for your grandson. >> The officers carefully load Nancy onto a Mega Mover, a device designed to rescue patients in areas that are inaccessible to stretchers. As a team, they carry Nancy towards the clearing. >> All right, >> we're just going to take a break. >> Went to get cold. >> Are your leg bothering you? >> My hip. >> Your hip? >> Every time I tried to get up to find the house, I fell. I'd tip over something. >> Oh, that hurt. >> That close. Unbelievable. >> Look at this. >> That's just wild. >> Yeah. And I come up >> about right up in here cuz I look down on the spots up. >> How you doing, Auntie? Call the boss. We found her. She's alive. Yeah, she was like 100 yards into the woods from where we were. the drone captured it and so it was like 10 of us going out into the woods like eight of us walked past her and someone's like here she is she was underneath some like a tree that had fallen. >> So she's talking and everything. We just moved her out on a mega mover and we got an ambulance on the way. So >> yeah, pretty wild. After carefully loading her into the back of an SUV, Nancy was transported to the main road and into an ambulance. And officers called to inform the family that their loved one had been found alive and was on her way to the hospital. The Mason County Sheriff later explained in an interview that on her way home from the casino, Nancy got twisted around, winding up in the driveway of a seasonal home. As she tried to get back to the main road, her car became disabled and caught fire. He added, "The person who owns the seasonal property rarely visits, and it was blind luck that the homeowner happened to come home and find the car on their property. >> I don't know how somebody could get so lucky." >> Despite enduring freezing temperatures at night and without access to food or water for all three days, 74year-old Nancy Bloomquist ultimately recovered from the harrowing ordeal. If you'd like to see select new videos early and help us keep on >> Man, that went >> Yes, that was that's >> I was thinking that she's gonna be on a live, man. I ain't going to lie. >> That that took a great twist, >> man. That that's beautiful, man. >> Yes. >> All the time though. Every time I do stories like this always make me think about our parents. >> Yes. Yeah. And she is, when they say blessed, >> she is blessed to be alive out there. Like, >> how did you survive three days? >> Three days with no food, no water, no shelter. >> Yeah. >> No warmth. >> I I was thinking like on that other story when she was talking about this is my home, but I can't find my house. I I know they said she had uh she fell down and hit her head, right? >> Yeah. >> I was thinking about that diabetes thing, too. Remember that story we had? Yeah. >> The lady blood sugar was so high. >> Mhm. >> She kept on saying this where I supposed to go and she end up being on the live, >> right? Yeah. >> Yeah. I I wonder if her blood sugar low or something like that too as well. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. But this story is like amazing. I >> when I saw the title I was like I know something gonna happen. >> Yeah. >> I want this cuz we always do these kind of videos last cuz EW put you in your emotions. >> Yeah. But for some reason >> this was a good one. >> Yeah. This was a good one. >> Um I want to say a few things. Um, first that's that's the kind of neighbors you need. >> Yeah. >> You know, >> it's it's not about being nosy. >> It's not about somebody minding their business. >> We need to know our neighbors names in times of emergency. We need to know their habits. >> If people are minding their business, they would say, "Oh, well, she just left her um garage open." Uh, >> and going on about your business. Oh, her her door was left open. Hell, maybe she just, you know, >> the old school people >> always seem to be because, you know, those older men, remember when the guy came in the neighborhood? >> If you haven't watched that video, y'all gotta watch that one. It was crazy. >> Old man, hell, that dude. Yeah, good one. But unless you know that a generation is dying off of um the generation is dying off that actually cared about one another like >> went door todo and make sure everybody was okay and paid attention when something wasn't right with the neighbor, right? >> We don't do that anymore. >> They're pushing for apartment complexes. They're pushing for cramming everybody together and nobody will talk to anybody because everybody's >> first of all, you don't want to be crammed next to another neighbor that you don't like or you don't want to be around or whatever. Then we don't want to get personable because we don't want nobody in our business, right? >> So, that's another thing. >> And the second thing is every time we do one of these videos, there's something in the news similar What's similar? >> There's a there's a missing woman right now that um her husband um was on the news and he was saying um she she has a phone and so and so and so she it was a it was a black guy. He's married to a white woman. Have you seen that? >> I ain't seen that. And people were going back apologizing on um social media sites more more than likely was like Twitter um Tik Tok. >> Yeah. >> They were apologizing to him because of course >> what do they always do? They suspect it's always the spouse that has done something to >> So u it turns out she um his wife had went to the lake. I don't know if she does like I don't know if she goes swimming at the lake. I don't know if she goes running at the lake. I have not read the story to see what's where the what the outcome is. I don't know if they found her. I don't know if she's all right. I don't know what's going on. But >> every time we do a story, there's something in the news very similar. >> And I noticed um this story reminds me or this might be the same lady, I don't know, of another woman they were looking for. When does this happen? Yep, this probably it. Um, >> they were look, they did like a a wide search. Um, and they were talking about it all over the news for a missing woman, but she was only missing for three days. So, this may have been the lady. Yeah, this may may be the lady >> because she was an older lady. She did have um blonde hair or I mean um white hair. So, it could be the lady and we're just actually seeing the behind the scenes of the story >> because when I when I heard the story, I said, remember I said this sound familiar? >> It probably is. Yep. And there was another lady. No, this is not her. >> Another one. It's >> another one because she actually walked out of the bush. This This lady could That's right. Yeah, I know what you're talking about. >> Okay. Yeah. So, but that's crazy that there similar type stories like that. But >> the moral of this story is pay attention to your neighbors, man. Get to know your neighbors. >> Can I say it? >> Yeah. >> Can I say it? That is something that I don't like about our community, the black community. We are not neighborly like that no more. Back in my days when we lived in our in our apartment complex, >> those neighbors was nosy. >> They when we moved in, they said, "Hey, how y'all doing? Who you is? What's your name?" >> And and they they made sure we saw somebody come to your house earlier. So they were nosy, but we loved that, man. >> Right. >> Everybody in the apartment complex knew what was going on. They knew who you were. If they heard a strange noise, y'all all right down here, >> right? >> It's the old school people. this new generation >> and and and some of the people our age too, we we so like paranoid. >> Yeah. Standoffish, private. >> Yeah. So so paranoid and standoffish. We don't we live in an apartment complex >> and >> nobody says nothing to us. >> We'll come out the door sometime. We'll say, "Hey, how you doing?" >> They'll speak to you, but nobody knows who we are, >> right? >> They don't care. Hey, you need a ride to the store? You need this? You need that. >> They don't invite you over. >> They don't invite you over. Yeah. They don't say, "Well, this is my children. Let meet my children so if anything happens, I can come to you and say, hey, have you seen my child?" >> Or in the time of an emergency, can my child come over your house if something happened? Well, if the house burned down, can we come into your house and be safe? Yeah. >> Those things are actually something that could happen, but nobody's willing to help because you don't get to know the person, >> right? What What do you What are you so paranoid to to anybody? I have to say anybody. We got some black people that look at these videos. What do you think happened to us? Like why why do why do you think we here? Now not us, but I'm just saying in general like what you think happened to our humility and and and um >> uh like caring for your neighbors and your like what happened? Like why we so paranoid? >> Like everybody just scared to be friendly with one another. Like you think somebody gonna talk behind your back and stuff like that. It's just crazy. >> So that's why I love a neighborhood like that. somebody who look out for their person and make sure they good. >> I already gota say that. >> Yeah, me too. It's just man, I was I was just like so happy that it was a good outcome. I am not ready for this type of video. >> I know, right? Because we been on here tear eyeing and going to the next video being all sad. >> Yeah. >> But thank you again, EW, for this video, man. They have some great videos. >> Uh thank y'all for being here. We really missed y'all, man. Like I've been doing little videos here and there, but that flu caught us, y'all. Man, you can't get this man to like take a moment. >> I know. >> He was making them videos. >> Yeah, man. >> I'm glad we I love what I do, man. I love doing it. This is like a job to me. >> You know what I'm saying? Not y'all are not a job, but it's like a job to me. So, I like doing this thing, man. So, >> I love reacting. >> So, we thank y'all for being here. Thank y'all for the love, support, and thank y'all to all the good people that comment and leave us some good things, man. That that really boosts us. >> Thank you. Until next time, don't get caught slipping on camera.
