All right. >> You're going to be out. >> Can Can I let my girl know? You're going to be out less than an hour. >> No, I'm not. I promise. >> No, I'm not. Serge, sorry. Sorry. I got arrest. There's no bail to him. >> I know. I've been I I got locked up on no bail and I still have to stay the night for this [ __ ] >> Man, you are going to be out of here in an hour. >> All right. Can I tell my girlfriend she call my mom? >> Yeah. I don't get your cell phone. Look at me. >> Look at me in the eye. You're going to be out of here in an hour. I promise you that. Okay. But I'm getting a DUI though. >> You understand? You can't work nothing out for me. Like, come on, man. I live down the street, bro. I can get home. Like, >> please, SARS. Please. >> I can't do that. >> He This officer, it's not my job. All right. These guys have a job to do. All right. Luckily, you didn't get, you know, I know. >> I know, but it's a DUI, man. I'm trying to get my CDL. Come on, s we can we can work with you in court. Okay. So, what I'm supposed to do, man, you got your body camera on. We can't talk about this [ __ ] like that. >> No, but I can I can tell you that we can put in to work for you. We get through the process, >> but then I go to try and y'all show up. It's like, >> listen, I'm talking I'm talking about noting that you're cooperative and >> that [ __ ] don't mean nothing when it come to DUI, though. >> That's not true. That's not true. >> It do. It It do. It's not going to come up as a noise complaint. >> Like, come on. Charge. >> Trust me, will you? All right. >> Let's get through all the stuff we have to do. Do you have anything in your pockets right now? You need anything out of your car? >> Hi, ma'am. How are you? >> I'm sorry. >> Yeah. >> Come on, man. I'm a cousin. Where >> this way? I'm going to bring talk to her. >> I'll bring over to you. >> Come on. Let's go this way. >> I'll bring over to you. All right. You want mine or >> uh Willie, you Um, what's your name? >> Elizabeth. >> Elizabeth. Nice to meet you. All right. You just have too much to drink tonight. Okay. He's going to get you a couple tickets. He's going to come back with us, little paperwork, and he's going to be out of here within an hour. Okay. The only thing that we asked or that it's required by law is uh he needs a sober he needs a sober adult to to pick him up to sign him out. That might be you. I don't know if you've had any alcohol tonight. >> I mean, I'm okay, but you know, I don't have my like ID cuz I lost it. >> That's okay. But you have um But so you don't >> and I can't drive this car. >> No, no. So the car there's there's two there's two state laws that are required of us with the DWI, which is what Alexis is facing right now. And again, it's it's not a criminal offense. It's just a traffic offense. Okay. Um there's two mandatory requirements. One that the car has to be impounded for 12 hours. Okay. And the other is that a sober adult has to come to our police headquarters and pick him up and sign him out. If nobody can sign him out, that's that's okay. He just has to spend a minimum of 12 hours in a hole and stuff. Okay. We always prefer to get everybody out, you know, and we always are very successful at that. So all all he needs to do is have a sober adult over 18 just come sign him out. That can be you. I'm just going to you if you choose to sign up, did you have any alcohol tonight? >> No, I was just with my friends. >> Okay. No, no. So, have you just Yes or no? Have you had And again, if you did, it's okay. >> Yeah, I just >> I just smoked a little bit, but that was it. >> Smoked a little weed. Okay, then just based on that, and that's fine. It's legal. Just based on that, I'm just not going to have you sign him out because we just need a sober adult. Okay. >> I could sign him out. Yeah. >> No, no, no, but you can't because you just you just admitted to smoking like an intoxicating and stuff. Oh yeah. >> And again, that's I appreciate being honest. And again, it's not that's neither, you know, but I'm looking out for his safety and your safety and stuff like that because when you sign the potential liability form, you're essentially taking you're signing a form saying that you're taking him into custody and that you had no substances and you're going to make sure, you know, so it's it's a it's a big liability. Some people choose not to sign it, but um you're just going to essentially making sure that he gets home safely and will not operate a motor vehicle for, you know, approximately 12 hours. Okay. Um, do you have anybody that you can call? He says he calls mine maybe. Okay. So, can you grab his cell phone >> and whatever he needs and then you can I'm going to walk you over here and you can speak to him. >> Yeah. I have just his wallet and his >> Okay. Is that all he needs? Do you need anything in that car? >> Um, I think I'm good. >> Okay. All right. Uh, what about his house? Where's his keys? >> I think he has those. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> All right. You can walk over. Uh, just give you one second. So he has she Elizabeth has his cell phone. Okay. >> Uh he wants to call his mom. Uh >> Elizabeth just uh just ingest a little marijuana. So she's going to be disqualified for signing out. But uh how do you can you call somebody or do you want to do you want to come back with us or what is your >> Can I come back with you guys? Yeah. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> Cuz um cuz to speak with his mother, I would have to get to my family. I mean I'm I'm not good with Spanish. So >> yeah. The only the only thing is only if you don't mind, you are going to if you want to come back with us, we'll drive you back. It's right over there. You just have to sit in the back of a police car. Is that okay? >> Okay. All right. >> Let me uh take his stuff that >> he's checked in the back of your car. >> Yeah. >> Okay. You search him? >> Okay. >> Can you put your Can you put your window down? >> His uh phone in his wallet. >> Will you put the window down? >> I'll get it. I'll get >> Yeah. Yeah. I bring it right here. Hey, so she's going to Yo, yo, call my mom and tell her you want um >> She's going to come back with us, too. >> No, she's she's going to sit in the lobby >> car out here. I need my car out here. >> She's going to sit in the lobby. She can't drive. >> Okay. So, you want me to call him? Yeah. Okay. >> Call my mom. Tell her >> where your keys at. >> In my pocket. >> Am I in? But I can keep So I could get the pickup. Yeah. >> Yeah. I can get his mom to like pick up the car and stuff. >> Yeah, please. I don't want my [ __ ] towed. >> Car has to get towed. >> I will show you. I'll show you. It's a state law. It's It's a mandatory state law. >> Come on, sir. Bro, we not >> dude. I don't have leeway with this stuff, >> bro. You just said you was going to work with me. >> I'm going to work with you. But sir, I just explained to her certain things I can't work with me then. >> It's I can't get my >> I will show you the John's law. It's a law, bro. Okay. >> No, man. It's a mandatory law. >> It's a law. >> So, what do I do? I I have to go with you guys to for him to get the car. >> Huh? >> I'm sorry. What? >> What? Like, I can't get like his mom to like pick up the car while I'm here. Like, >> no, not right now. Cuz the car it's it's on state highway. It has to get it has to get towed. >> Bro, I'm not out tomorrow. >> Um, do you want to Dude, you're going to be out of here in in an hour. >> I'm not, man. I got a record. >> What is that? That doesn't matter, dude. >> No, I got a a silent a record. I'm not sure. Listen, >> you're getting you're getting out of here now. Your mom's coming to pick you up. >> We have to do something. >> So, you want you're going to come back here? Okay. >> Um >> I'm sorry. I'm trying to >> Yeah, he I don't know why he's I understand. Maybe he had some bad experience, but he's going to be out of here in an hour. Okay. >> I don't know. >> I mean, you know, I don't know was I We just met like, you know, before. >> So, you have all his stuff. Okay. >> I gave it to them. No, I >> Oh, his cell phone, too. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, just give me one second. I'm just we're going to put you back here. >> That's what we're trying to get. >> Just make my call right now. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Yeah. You're not you're not detain you're not uh you we we're trying to get you back. >> Uh ma'am, do me do me a favor. We're just going to keep your bag up while you're riding the back. Okay. Your camera's on in the back. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Take them. 46 >> 103 41 start him off. >> Yeah. Just have her sit in the lobby. We have his cell he reeks. >> Yeah. Yeah, I got damages on the car already for I was doing something was a lot of sweat. >> Elizabeth, you can talk in the car. >> You want to jump in? We want to get you back. Thank you. >> Can you do me a favor? Can you just throw the seat belt on when you jump in? It's right here. I appreciate that. 42. Where the keys >> in the rear of the vehicle? >> Yeah. You know, he's a little nervous, but he had a little bit too much drink tonight. >> Okay. But luckily there's no accident, nothing like that. Just Yeah. He's I He's He's a little scared, you know. I guess he said he had a he had a piece has a past and stuff like that. We understood, but he was a little apprehensive, but his uh um his girlfriend or uh Elizabeth, I >> She's at our headquarters, too. >> Oh, I thought she was. >> Yeah. No, no, she's she's there. >> So, uh he's going to be released shortly, like within a few minutes. He's just going to be issued a few tickets. >> Okay. >> Okay. It's just a it's just we really have no leeway with that to start practice that we've always done, you know. But >> And where are you making the car? >> Uh these either Long Branch or Asbury. You guys are from Long Branch. >> Long branch. Yeah. >> Yeah. I think he's I got to We'll get your card. He Yeah, he's going to be issued a couple traffic tickets. >> Oh, okay. >> New Jersey, there's no bail. It's just a traffic offense. It's it's it's one of the few traffic offenses that we arrest for. >> Okay. >> Okay. Um, like I said, one of my offic one of my other officers, I stopped him. He was um drive like not not maintaining his lane, out of his lane. Uh we we put him through a couple field sobriety tests and he he did not pass. >> Um so we just made the decision that he was, you know, had some, you know, a little too much alcohol tonight, but he was cooperative. Everything's okay. Your son's okay. >> Um it's going to be, you know, probably within like 20 minutes he'll be he'll be released. >> Okay. >> Oh, yeah. Oh, >> yeah. Yeah. >> Oh. You taking? >> It's on the address right there. >> Oh, I'm sorry. >> Yeah, the address. Yeah. Westwood Avenue straight over there. We got Thank you. >> All right. Next. >> Yeah. It's literally half a mile away. So, the other thing, so one of the the two walls is the John's law. The other thing is we need to have somebody released under John's law. We need a sober adult. >> Okay. >> To sign somebody out. Otherwise, they had to they had to spend a minimum of 12 hours in a holding cell. >> Okay. >> If they as long as they get a somebody who's an adult who's sober to sign them out, it's called the potential liability warrant. As long as they have somebody to sign him out, they get released. Okay. There's there's no bail. There's >> So, he's there now? >> Yes. Yes. >> Yeah. They're just doing paperwork and he's he should be by the time we get there, he should be almost done. >> Oh. Oh, okay. So, I'm not going to do it now. >> Okay. >> Because uh >> Well, you have a little you have a little bit of time. I don't know if you just want to So, so Elizabeth is here too. >> Yeah. >> I don't know if you have another vehicle. >> Not at home. I don't want home. We can go over there. >> Yeah. Come right back there. >> Because uh I think for the >> taking my other car, right? >> Yeah. No, that was Yeah, that was a mis Yeah, we >> we I thought we told her. We We told Maybe she just didn't tell. But yeah, that's that was just a miscommunication. But hey, if you have enough time, if you want to go >> Yeah, I'm going to go >> get home in a car. >> No rush. Drive safely. No rush. I When you get there, he'll he'll most he'll most likely be ready to go. >> And we pick the car tomorrow. >> Yep. >> Oh, today. Today? Yeah. That's right. Thank you. >> I mean, you know, he's going to be >> He's lucky to have two nice parents like you guys. You know, I'm sure you guys are sleeping, right? >> No. >> Well, listen, I have two young boys. I'm sure they're going to be I'm sure uh I'll be out there, too, at some point, you know, like, but you guys are I I'm I you know, it's very nice that he has two nice parents to come, you know, in this. But he's uh he's not a bad kid. He's a good kid. >> No, he's a good kid. No, he's not. >> Yeah. And like I said, all he did tonight, it's not a crime what he did tonight. He just had a little bit too much a little bit, you know, a little bit too much alcohol. Okay. Um, but >> he's he's >> he was he said he was insp right at the the next light. Right at the corner. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, just used to I used to live there. >> Oh, right there. Right there. You >> used to live there >> in the on in the apartments, right? >> Yeah. And then she used to work over here, too. We work in >> Okay. You guys are local >> because we typically houses as a stop. >> Oh, okay. >> All right. So, you guys are local. >> All right. Yeah. So, take your time getting home, get your other car, and then uh just come there. >> And then like >> Perfect. >> Tomorrow. >> Uh so, 12 hours. So, the stop is around What time is it? I don't >> 2:00 maybe. >> Is it 3:00? So, I think the stop was uh the stop was around like 12:45. So, like 12:45 today. 12:45 p.m. >> 12 >> 12 hours. >> Okay. >> In the morning. >> Yeah. >> 12:4 12 hours. So, we stopped him. He was stopped around 12:45 a.m. 12 hours later. 12:4 12:45 12:45 p.m. is the earliest you can pick the vehicle up. >> Tomorrow. >> Well, today. Sunday. Sunday. Sunday. Sunday. >> Okay. That's right. Yeah. >> Yeah. Yeah. I know it's a little confusing, but >> So, we have to pay for that. Uh-huh. You might have to pay something, but like I said, we don't we don't do anything that they just they just they just come and scoop, you know what I mean? Anytime we need to tell like we don't we we don't do anything with moneywise, but >> it shouldn't be that much, you know. But, >> um, listen, I I told I told your son I'll sure I'll tell you again. He he was cooperative. You know, he's a little scared, you know, which I understand. It's it's it's nerve-wracking. >> Yeah. But he was a little scared, but like I But he was cooperative. We're going to we're going to note that that he was cooperative and stuff like that. And that goes it really does go a long way. You know, he he was he he was respectful. He didn't give us a hard time, >> you know. Yeah. We just It's just Yeah. But, you know, we're just glad that there was no accident. We see a lot of bad accidents. We see we've had some bad accidents at DWI. So, luckily there plus he had a passenger. So, he's not hurt. >> Nobody else is hurt. It's just it's just it's a couple traffic tickets and and that's it. I mean, we'll take care of like I said, we'll uh it'll be noted how cooperative and that does go a long way. I promise you that. Okay. >> All right. Thank you.
