>> All right. Hey, we're going to get the
hell out of you. I'M GOING BACK TO
PIERCING.
>> AT least two arrests on the beach that
night were made for illegal consumption
of alcohol. The suspect who repeatedly
asked what his friend [music] was being
arrested for was charged with two counts
of resisting, obstructing, and battery
on a law enforcement officer. All
suspects are innocent unless proven
guilty in a court of law. While no
officers were injured, this next case
shows what happens when a shirtless man
causes a career-ending injury to an
officer.
>> You all right, man?
>> Did he live here?
Okay.
>> You want to tell me what happened, man?
>> No.
>> I'm sorry. What happened?
>> All right. You have a nice day, too.
>> Oh, why? I pay taxes.
>> You pay taxes?
>> Yes.
>> Oh, I pay taxes, too. Hold on. Hold on.
Hold on. Hold on. Tell my wife what?
>> Get back.
I pay taxes.
>> You know what a blinking red light
means?
>> No, you don't.
>> Yeah, it means you have to stop.
>> It's stop sign.
>> Yeah, stop and check both. And then he's
good with this guy. What the hell?
>> Get back.
>> Get back. You about to get back. GET
BACK.
>> GET DOWN.
>> GET YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. Get
your hands BEHIND YOUR BACK. DO IT NOW.
GET DOWN. GET Get down. Turn around.
Turn around. Turn around. You get
another ride. That's what a black
brother with blood. What is going on?
>> 104. Step it up.
>> I told you. I told you what I tell you
to do. I'm going to give you another
right. Turn over. Turn over. Turn over.
Like I said, turn over.
>> You're going to get another right. Turn
over.
>> Turn over.
>> Stop moving.
>> Wow.
>> Relax, my man. Relax. Relax. You going

Why? Why? Why? Why? Why zombie?
>> Cuz you're act like
>> Why zombie?
>> You're not acting very smart today.

Grand before I go.
>> What' you do? Um, I'm trying to figure
out when that happened. Okay, I can take
that from there. Go ahead and assist
him.
>> What is he doing now? He's just yelling.
Okay.
>> Yeah, I think he heard his uh
like pretty bad.
I had a knee problem. I had to go to the
ground on it.
>> No, we're not doing that.
Why?
>> We're not doing that. You just stay
right where you're at. Wow.
>> Just relax, brother.
Hey, stop.
>> There's no reason to do that right now.
>> We're here to help you.
>> If if his legs comes out of there, grab
you guys shackles. We want to shackle
one hand to the burning hand. Okay. Why
don't you grab me? All
right, buddy.
>> You know, do the other side because
>> this one.
>> Okay, I got you.
>> I don't remember. I don't know if it was
when I was standing up or when when I
went down to help cuff him.
>> Okay, I got you.
>> But I hit it on the ground in the first
youth force over on Louise Harris. I got
you.
This was the second time in the same
shift that the officer had been
attacked. In both instances, he fell
onto hard surfaces. He suffered a
serious knee injury that required
extensive time off and physical therapy.
As of the time of publication, it is
unknown if he was able to return to work
or medically retired. While at the
hospital, the suspect continued
resisting, twisting and turning, and
refusing to comply. He needed to be
sedated. He was charged with assault on
a police officer. He is innocent unless
proven guilty in a court of law.
>> I've had nights where Dr. so
convincingly, I swear I walked away with
no injuries. Until that quiet moment at
home when the pain hit me like a late
bill I forgot to pay. And that's the
reality all cops live in. You don't feel
the injury when everyone's watching. You
feel it when nobody cares. I believe
people forget that policing isn't always
dramatic. Because most of the time it is
routine until the moment it isn't. But
some people in today's society treat
officers like they're inconvenience,
like the rules are just noise and that
law enforcement is just a suggestion.
And I'm pretty sure those officers felt
that same energy while approaching the
beach. Now, force is never about
strength. It's about math and timing.
And the truth is, the law doesn't ask if
the officer won. It asked if the officer
acted like a reasonable human being
trying to not get hurt or let someone
else get hurt. These two moments both
had arrogance and chemicals and they
both show the same truth but from
different angles. Now danger doesn't
always wear some sort of mask. Sometimes
it laughs with friends on a beach and
sometimes it stares straight through you
with pupils super wide. Now if society
keeps mistaking impulse for freedom and
rebellion for strength, officers will
remain the barrier between normal life
and total collapse. And I've also
learned the public rarely feels the
tremor. They only notice the earthquake
once it hits their doorstep. And by
then, the only thing separating safety
from total mayhem at the very line they
spent years criticizing.
