Why would this mom take things this far
just because her daughter refused to go
to school?
>> I guess two doors.
Hi.
What's that?
>> I said, "How are you today?"
>> Good. Good. Um
Are you Jonah?
>> Yeah, you can come
>> Jonah Jonah Yeah, can I come to talk to
you about what happened earlier?
>> Go ahead and come on in, go ahead and
come on in.
I'm her mother.
>> Okay.
>> Well, I'll stand up.
>> So, what what happened this morning?
>> Well,
Rain
started banging on the bathroom door
while I was in the bathroom.
She's like, "I'm not going to school
because I don't have any clean clothes."
I'm like,
"That's not true. You're going to
school."
I actually literally just found the
entire basket clean laundry in her room,
but that's another story.
She started following me around upstairs
as I was trying to get Makai ready, my
son.
>> He's autistic?
>> Yeah. He has autism and ADHD. He's 9
years old. Takes some help. Um she
started following me around screaming
and at me about why I'm not going to
call her off from school. I'm like, "Cuz
you're not actually sick. If you were
sick or had diarrhea or something, fine,
but that's not what's going on.
You just don't want to go and you're
still going."
So, she started punching the walls in
his room.
And then she knocked over his dresser
and started screaming at me and got in
my face.
And she started pushing me and then I
punched her in the head.
Cuz I mean, she has multiple I've
already called
>> We we've we've pulled all the calls from
all the
>> How long has he known?
>> Yeah, we're aware of the calls.
>> But, um after that I told her, "Look,
you need to get the [ __ ] on. I still got
to get Makai ready. You're making him
sad and freaking him out and shit."
And as she's stomping down the stairs
and muttering and stuff, she ended up
knocking over the entirety of that shelf
in there.
There's still glass all over the place.
And
yeah, after that I came downstairs and
I'm like, "What is this?" She's like,
"Oops."
>> Okay.
>> Yeah.
>> So, we're here on behalf of CSB and
officers that are at the hospital with
your daughter, okay? Um sounds like
she's getting checked out now. It does
sound like she does have
injuries
that are consistent with what she said.
So, like I said, we did not go down to
the hospital yet. We're here on behalf
of those officers while they're
conducting their investigation.
So, for right now I am going to place
you in handcuffs, okay? Until we get
everything until we get everything
figured out. So, go ahead and put your
hands behind your back.
You got to put your hands together like
you're praying.
Yep, there you go.
>> Can you stop it? Yeah, I'm I'm fine. I'm
praying
>> Stand up a little bit. You're okay.
>> Can Can you go in and look at what my
grand daughter did while
>> I'll go in there. I got to help him for
a second and then I'll see what we can
do, okay? I'll find out. I I believe
you.
>> This is just
>> It's standard our department policy. I
have to do
>> I understand that. It's just so unfair.
And and I want you to see these clean
clothes that this child had.
>> Okay. Okay.
>> Because she's such a manipulator. She
did this to me.
>> is she?
>> She is 13.
>> Okay.
>> She'll be 14 on the 22nd.
>> Okay. You can pull your arm out a little
>> Like that?
>> Yeah.
>> Is my daughter going to have to stay the
weekend because it's Friday?
>> We're not sure right now. The officers
at the hospital are are really the ones
>> No, I don't. I don't. But I But I was
re-told CPS I'll be taking custody of
Makai
um because I was aware that she may be
arrested. That's why I'm here.
>> Okay. Okay. So, CSB is aware of you and
they've probably done a background and
all that stuff for
>> They already know. They already know. I
already talked to Donnell What's his
last name?
>> Is that the CSB worker?
>> Yes.
>> You got her? Go ahead Donnell. there.
>> her.
>> Okay, I'm going to grab her in front.
I didn't get the other kids information
as well and all that.
So like I said, they're down there doing
their thing. I don't know the full story
down there. I'm just being told of what
they said is going on and like of the
evidence they have. So
we'll have you sit back here for a
little bit. I'll call them and see what
all they
they want to do.
>> Well, it's a closet little stroller,
right?
>> Have a seat.
Not very comfortable I know.
>> That was
>> All right, be patient with us for just 1
second, okay?
So they'll do
they'll do they have to do their own
investigation like whatever they want to
do.
>> you to see what this little child did
and she is 307
and she's 5'7".
So this is a big girl.
>> Yeah.
>> And this is her room.
>> This is her room?
>> Yeah, it's always disgusting. You can't
talk to her about stuff. She has food,
clothes were everywhere. This basket was
hidden and all these are clean clothes.
She had this all covered. She could have
went, but these are clean clothes.
>> Yeah, I see that. The whole basket
>> And she this was all unnecessary. She
punched her in the back and in the neck
and put bruises on her.
>> Okay, yeah, I did follow up a lot of the
calls before I came out here.
>> told by her mother and me, "Don't come
at arms length with us cuz we don't
trust you." And she's quick to say like
abuser or I'm so sorry.
She's 5'7" 307 lb. We don't want you in
arms length. We don't trust you. And
before she does something like this was
intentional. You have clean clothes. You
don't
>> I get what you mean.
I got to help my partner with this with
this whole thing.
>> Thank you.
>> And hopefully we can get it settled.
Yeah, I went in and saw everything, so
So like I said, they're down there
talking to CSB, talking to
our sergeant, just trying to figure out
the the stories cuz obviously her story
is probably going to be a little bit
different than yours.
Just kind of running my I know I listed
you up there with what happened. You
said that it was mostly
argument about everything.
And then she pushed you?
>> She was arguing about me
me calling her off. Started punching the
walls in Makai's room.
>> Yeah.
>> And then she knocked over his entire
dresser, started walking towards me.
>> Okay.
>> And considering that she's already hit
me multiple times before, getting that
close
was
>> Okay.
>> So, she approached me, she got punched
in the head.
>> Okay.
Was there any other thing
else happen other than you just hitting
her the one time in the head?
>> I did not hit her one time in the head.
She refused to get the hell away from me
and kept following me around. Refused to
get out of Makai's room, so she kept
getting punched.
>> Okay.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay.
All right. About how many times would
you say?
>> Five times.
>> Did she ever um hit you, push you,
anything like that?
>> I don't think about that.
>> I know a lot of times it's hard to
remember when it's like your adrenaline
is up and you're in the moment of
everything, so it's hard to remember
that kind of stuff.
>> I don't remember if she hit me or if she
she knocked me over.
>> Yeah.
>> downstairs after she destroyed
everything, she started throwing a bunch
of [ __ ] at me.
But
>> Okay.
>> I honestly can't remember all the times.
>> That's okay. All right, hold tight here.
>> So, obviously
uh we got called out here for something
that happened this morning. What what
happened this morning?
>> So
>> want to go to school.
>> Okay.
>> My grades are good.
>> You said they're good?
>> They're good.
>> Okay.
>> the end of the quarter.
>> Okay.
>> So
literally the last day the grades close.
>> Okay, yeah.
>> So
the grades close, new new unit next
week.
So I didn't want to go to school.
>> Okay. And what happened? So you didn't
want to go to school and then
>> I yelled at my mom that I didn't want to
go to school. She kept using and so I
got pissed off. Then, like
get all up in her face.
>> Okay.
>> Then, after I got up in her face and I
stepped out of her face
>> And you did what out of her what?
>> I stepped out of her face.
>> Stepped out of her face, I'm sorry.
Okay.
What happened?
>> There's like
They keep saying, "Oh, you got in her
face." Remind you, I I got out of her
face.
>> Okay.
>> Like a second later, so
>> So, you got in her face and you took a
step back. Is that what you're saying?
Okay.
And then what happened?
>> And then
she got angry at me and then she was
like
"If you ever do that again, like
I'll beat your ass."
And then she like she came back after me
and then she started hitting me
and stuff.
>> How? So, you said after she said that,
then she started hitting you?
>> Yeah.
>> Um
how How was she hitting you? Like with
like a closed fist, like her hand?
>> A closed fist.
>> Okay.
And then what happened? Like describe
Obviously, I wasn't there, so I don't
know. Like
So, she started hitting you and then
what happened after that? How did it
stop?
>> It stopped
like she sat on me and then she started
punching me again
and then
I kept punching at her.
And
then she got off of me
and then like I walked downstairs
and then she said something to me
and I think that pissed me off. So, then
I just like
I
just
um
threw something down.
>> Down, what do you mean?
>> Yeah, like it was a really big
um
storage
like thing.
>> Okay. So, she followed you to your room
and
>> Followed me to my room. She sat on me
again and she started punching me again.
>> I have a 39 at the microtel right now.
>> Started pulling on my hair.
It gave me this.
Which I hate cuz it hurts.
>> Okay.
So, you said she sat, followed you to
your room, sat on you and started
punching you again.
>> Pulled my hair.
>> Pulled your hair, okay.
>> Leave my hair
Leave my hair alone. Leave my hair out
of this.
My hair didn't do nothing to you.
>> Yes.
>> Hey, okay. I just wanted to update you
with what everything's going on.
>> Mhm.
>> Um, I called down to talk to the
officers at the hospital and CSB.
Um
and then also with, you know, talking to
her. I'm aware of all the problems that
go go on with daughter and mom. It's
just weird.
Have to go off of what happened. Mom
admitted to hitting her multiple times.
>> Mhm.
>> Um so, she is going to be arrested for
domestic violence.
>> Mhm.
>> Um, the kids will be rule sixed. But,
are
Do you know what that means?
>> Yeah, yeah.
>> In the CSB custody. It'll be up to them.
I mean, I don't see why they would have
an issue with them going with you if
that's what
>> Yeah, Makai is coming with me.
>> Is that Makai?
>> That is Makai. Makai is coming with GG.
>> Okay.
>> we we will I we've already talked about
this with Donovan.
>> Who's Donovan?
>> Donovan
the person that, um,
is the CPS worker.
>> Oh, okay. Good.
>> Yeah, he is not going in CPS custody,
Donovan.
>> I I have no
issues with that whatsoever.
>> He he's not going in custody because of
Rain.
>> Rain?
>> Rain is Rain. It's my grand daughter.
>> Oh, okay. Good.
>> Miss Destructo, that
>> Is there There's two kids, correct?
>> There's two. There's Makai, yeah. GG
>> Makai and
>> You didn't get a chance to come in here.
Come on, police come in here.
>> Sure.
>> Yeah. This is This is what I was showing
the other officer. When When
>> Give me Give me one This is the officer
of the hospital. Give me one moment.
I'm technically Makayla's in our
custody.
I'm I have to take him down to the
hospital.
Um you are welcome to and this is coming
from CSB as well. You're welcome to
follow us down to the hospital and then
CSB is going to do like their background
and stuff that they on you. Make sure
everything's okay. He's going to ride
with us.
>> Okay, so he's going to ride with his mom
and you.
>> No, no, no, no. Mom and his mom is going
to go in the wagon when it shows up.
Yep, and then he'll uh
he'll ride with us down.
>> to explain this to him.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay.
>> Try to you know
I I you seem like a
good Yeah, you know what
Yeah.
I I understand. This is uh
I know. I looked at all the as many
priors as I could before I got out here
and
And it's not it's not easy to
do that at all.
Um I know that's not easy.
Um so just so you're familiar with
what's going on.
Um
once you get dropped off,
um they're going to come pick you up
here.
We're going to drive Makayla down to the
hospital
um to meet with CSB. Grandma's going to
follow down
follow us down with them. They'll do a
background like they always do, you
know, with on grandma and as long as
everything checks out then she'll take,
you know, like temporary custody and
everything. Does that sound okay to you?
Okay. So she's never been in any type of
like residential treatment facility
[music] for a long for an extended
period of time?
>> No. No, we're working [music] on that.
We have court Monday because of all this
stuff.
>> Yeah.
>> And we literally just had a pre-trial on
Wednesday and I told [music] them, "Hey,
I really hope that rain can last until
this trial
on December [music] 3rd cuz she's been
escalating.
>> Well, is this your alarm?
>> Yeah.
>> Well, whenever you go do that, I mean,
that's that's always possibly an option
that they can cuz there are
facilities and places that take kids
that have [music] been through trauma,
PTSD, behavior issues.
>> At the hearing or at the pre-trial, they
told me that they wanted me to pursue
in-home intensive therapy services. And
I'm like,
um
as great and all, but she's being
violent here.
>> [music]
>> Like
And I have another kid here.
>> Yeah.
>> So
>> It'd be easier if she went to one of
those.
>> It it would. And they they felt like,
"Well, since you guys haven't pursued
the least restrictive care option, you
need to do that first."
Get my car's jacket. Thanks.
>> Okay. We'll come in in a in a minute,
okay?
All right. Come on out.
>> Thank you, officer.
>> Howdy.
>> Hi there.
>> All right. So, what I'm going to have
you do is I'm going to just spin you
around. I'm going to switch out the
cuffs, so it'll get uncomfortable for a
little bit.
And then I'll just pat you down one more
time, okay?
>> Okay.
>> All right. Is there anything on you
that's a stick part of stick?
>> Um I think he grabbed my wallet and my
phone. I don't have anything but this
ankle brace on.
>> Just the ankle brace?
>> Yeah.
>> All right.
All right. Well, if you want, we'll walk
over this way. Um I'll get the keys to
your sister's place.
>> Wait here back here, right?
It's been so long since I've been in a
paddy wagon.
I've never been in a car.
>> No? Uh just up here.
>> Huh?
>> Oh.
>> Yep.
I'm sorry.
All
right.
>> The woman was arrested and charged with
domestic violence.
