The reason I'm asking is you're driving the wrong way down Olympia Street. >> I told you I was using my GPS. >> Okay. You going to you going to consent to perform field sobriety for me? >> No, I will do a breath test. I will not do any field sobriety test. >> So, you understand you'll go to jail for refusing to take the test, right? >> Take a nice deep breath. In this video, a state trooper pulled over a man who was simply trying to navigate an unfamiliar area using his maps for directions. Instead of helping or explaining the route, the trooper pushed irrelevant questions, trying to force a story that never existed. When the man refused to play along, the trooper jumped straight to a DUI accusation and demanded field tests, but the man agreed only to a breath test. Inside the station, the breathalyzer hit zero, and the look on the trooper's face said it all. With his DUI claim destroyed, he still refused to let the man go. He changed the charge on the spot and sent a completely sober man to jail for the night just to punish him for not giving in. Watch how this trooper twisted the situation the moment the truth exposed his ego. >> Trooper put him with a highway patrol stopping you. You drive. >> Yeah, the the GPS had messed up. I didn't realize I had to cut right there. >> Do with the GPS? You got your license with you? >> Yeah. >> Where you coming from? >> That That's irrelevant. >> What's that? That's irrelevant. >> Okay. How much you had to drink tonight? >> I don't answer questions. >> Okay. Have you had anything to drink tonight? >> What's your name and badge number? >> I'm Trooper Footer with the Highway Patrol. >> What's your badge number? >> 23. >> 23. >> You had anything to drink tonight? >> I I I'm going to invoke my Fifth Amendment right to remain silent. >> Okay. Go ahead. >> Like I like I said, I was >> step out here for me. Come out the car. >> Okay. I don't consent to any searches or seizures. Okay. >> Come on out the car. >> All right. What's your name and badge number, chief? >> Right back here for me. Hey, right back here for me. >> What's your name and badge number? >> Yeah, you're not running the show. I am. Right back here for me. >> You don't need to be rude, sir. >> Yeah. Put your phone down. >> No, I I can record you. >> No, you can. You can set it right there, though. You're not going to hold it. >> I can If you need to pat me down, you can pat me down. >> Let me pat you down. Set your phone right down. >> I can I can record. I can record. >> The reason I'm asking is you're driving the wrong way down Olympia Street. >> I told you I was using my GPS. >> Okay. >> And it to I didn't realize it breaks up. I'm not from >> That's why I'm asking if you had anything to drink tonight cuz that's >> I don't need I don't need to answer that question. >> Okay. You going to you going to consent to perform field sobriety for me? >> No. >> No. >> I I will do a blow test. But I'm not >> You understand that you're going to be placed under arrest for refusing, right? >> I will not do a field sobriety. I will do a breath test. >> Okay. That's >> I'm asking you questions cuz I don't want to take you to jail for no reason. >> You You can take me to jail if you >> I'm asking you if you had anything to drink today. >> I don't answer questions to to to to dispel if I'm intoxicated. I will do a breath test. I will not do any field sobriety tests. >> Okay. So, you understand you'll go to jail for refusing to take the test, right? >> I haven't refused to. >> You are refusing to take field sobriety. That's what I'm asking. >> I don't need to do a field sobriety. >> Yes, you do. >> I can do a breath test. >> Right. I'm asking you if you want to consent to take the field soiety. If not, you're going to go to jail. >> If if that's if that is your is your body camera on? >> Yeah. Everybody's recording out here. >> Is your body body camera on? And you said what's your name and badge number is? >> I'm not repeating myself again. Put your phone down. >> Okay. You can I request a supervisor because >> I am a supervisor. >> You're clearly ready to escalate this unnecessarily. >> You're under arrest. Turn around. Put your hands behind. >> Okay. >> Well, you have to read this. Are you okay with it right here? I'm going to read this out loud to you. You just need to follow along for me. Okay. >> All right. So, you're under arrest for driving under the influence section 5652930 South Toronto Code of Laws 1976 as amended. The arresting officer is directed the samples be taken for alcohol and or drug testing. The samples will be taken and tested according to section 565 2950 and sled policies. You do not have to take the test or give the samples. If you refuse to submit to the test, your privilege to drive in South Carolina must be suspended or denied for at least 6 months with the option of ending your suspension if you enroll in addition airlock device program and your refusal may be used to get you in court. If you take the test and give the samples or or give the samples and have an alcohol concentration of 8100s of 1% 008 or more, you may instead be charged with driving with an unlawful alcohol concentration section 565 2933. >> 20 minutes. >> 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Do >> you have to wait till you release me over to the jailer to take the cuffs off? >> What's that? >> You have to wait to release me to the jailers to take the cuffs off. >> Yeah. Once we bring you in here to booking and they tell me you're good to take them off, but we're going to have to get back out to the car so I can uh print off your paperwork, which won't take long. Then we'll come back in, book you in. It's going to run us an internal test. Okay. At which point I'm going ask you to stand up. I'm put this mouthpiece on the end of here. When I tell you to take a real deep breath in and then you're going to put your lips around this end right here. Look at this one in. Okay. Then you're going to give a nice steady breath out. All right. The the machine will give me an audible tone. Then you give it a sample. >> Once it gets enough of the sample, it'll click. I'll tell you to stop. Okay? You understand? from here. Take a nice deep breath. But now that's it. takes a lot. >> Not bad. Not bad. Amen. >> There you go. Now I got That's where the officer got the breathalyzer result of 0.0. And you can clearly see the dejected look on his face. The paper he tossed aside was the original DUI charge he planned to use for the arrest. But that wasn't the end of it. The trooper immediately switched the charge from DUI to driving on the wrong side of the road just to punish the man for not obeying his orders. Despite being completely sober, he was taken to jail and spent the entire night there before being released the next day. Any further updates I get, I will keep you posted.
