Are you accusing me of a crime? >> I'm not accusing you of any of anything. >> Okay. Is there anything else I can do for you? >> There's no criminal investigation here. Trying to get the the fact >> just so you'll have something to think about for the rest of the day. >> Can you tell me what happened? >> I don't think there's any crime been per perpetrated here. >> I mean, I don't have to suspect that a crime went on to speak to somebody. >> You've asked to speak to me. I've declined to speak to you. Have a nice day. >> In this video, a state trooper shows up at a man's home claiming he's there because a neighbor said his dog Django ran toward her and made her uncomfortable. Instead of handling it like a simple misunderstanding, the trooper turns it into an unnecessary doorstep interview, he admits there's no crime, no investigation, and no accusation, but still tries to press the homeowner to give his side like he's entitled to answers without any legal basis. The man sees right through it and keeps asking. The only question that matters are, "Are you accusing me of a crime?" While the trooper keeps dodging, hoping he can still drag him into a conversation. The longer it goes, the clearer it becomes that the trooper isn't there for law enforcement. He's there fishing for statements. And just when the cop tries one more angle, the homeowner gives him the perfect response and walks him straight back to the road where the interaction should have ended in the first place. Watch how this homeowner ended this trooper visit with the perfect line. >> Mr. Neil, uh, tell your name. >> What can I do for you? >> All right. So, >> Mr. Garcia. >> Trooper Garcia. Uh, neighbor. So Lynn, >> I guess there was some something with rocks being placed down there. Okay. She came here to talk to you about it. I guess Django got excited to see her. Django ran towards her. You tried to get the dog back. And that was pretty much the end of it. >> That's what I'm getting from her over there. She got a little scared. >> Her her heart rate went up. Hard to breathe. She was intimidated by the dog. >> Kevin, >> that's just the end of it. Again, I want to get your side number. >> Are you accusing me of a crime? >> I'm not accusing you of any anything. >> Okay. >> Is there anything else I can do for you? >> I just want to get your side of the story, sir. >> Are you accusing me of a crime? >> No, I'm not accusing you of any crime. Again, there's no >> there's no criminal investigation here. Again, there was a neighbor dispute. I'm trying to get the the facts >> straight straightened out. >> Unalleged. You're there's no nothing alleged. I've already done with them. >> Not going to be speaking to them. >> Okay. >> I just want to get your side of what happened. >> For what purpose? >> When Lynn came here. >> For what purpose? >> Just to get on a better understanding of what happened. >> Just so you'll have something to think about for the rest of the day. >> No. >> I mean, I'm not trying to be a jerk here, but you're not accusing me of a crime and you're a law enforcement officer. Come to my house. >> I We got called here for something to happen between you and Lynn. She already gave me her side of the story. I want to get your side of the story. You're not being accused of anything. Okay. It just sounds like >> What do you need the side of the story for? >> Okay. It sounds like Django got excited to seeing her when she came here. And I just want to know what happened after that. >> Okay. Thanks for coming by. >> Can you tell me what happened? >> I don't think there's any crime been per perpetrated here. >> Again, I I mean, I don't have to suspect that a crime went on to speak to somebody. >> You can request to speak to somebody. >> And I'm requesting to speak to you. >> Okay. Is there anything else I can do for you? >> Is there anything you want to say? >> I'd like to show you something. >> To show me something? >> Yeah. >> What would you like to show me? Uh the side of the road over here. Why >> I'm on the side of the road? >> Can I show you? Yeah, you can show me. >> Okay, let's take a walk. I'm on 83. Are the tire marks? People driving off the road. Is that your concern? [Applause] [Music] You've asked to speak to me. I've declined to speak to you. Have a nice day. Thanks for coming by. No offense. Nothing personal. >> I mean, you showed me that. Is that your concern? Just people driving just bad on flank roads? >> This trooper walked onto that property acting like he had authority to question someone without cause and he walked right back to the road with nothing. The homeowner shut him down the right way by staying calm, staying firm, and refusing to be pulled into anything he didn't legally owe. Another perfect example of what happens when cops try to push past boundaries and the person they're talking to actually knows the
