That's what I want you to do. Take it to court. That's what I want you to do. This started when officers approached a man standing on the side of the road with a sign, accusing him of disrupting traffic, even though they never actually saw him do anything. He pushed back, questioned everything, and the interaction ended with the officers walking away frustrated. As he drove past them, he flipped them off, and that's when they decided to pull him over, using that gesture as their reason to turn it into a stop. From there, they doubled down, tried to force ID, opened his door without justification, and even started making threats about towing his car and calling social services on his child. They even went as far as daring him to take it to court, not realizing that would end up being their biggest mistake. He didn't back down, kept asking what law he broke, and forced them to admit it was all over a middle finger. Watch how this spiraled into a complete mess for them. I am engaged in a First Amendment activity. I'm going to take the sign and You are not You are not taking my property. Listen to me. If you put it You are not taking my property. What's your badge number? >> My badge number's right there, okay? >> what you tell the judge? What? Is that what you tell the judge? Is what what I tell the judge? >> Right there. You're a liar. >> You are a liar. I have never been in traffic. Never. So, you can shut that I'm on the side of the road, legally parked, with a sign which is protected by the First Amendment. So, you can I'm disrupting nothing. >> else? You got to find >> I'm going to do it right here where I'm at. So, I'm not I have up to me telling me that you're jumping out in traffic. Because apparently they're erroneous. I don't give a what somebody else says. What did you witness? Nothing of the sort. So, keep your to yourself, pal. You're very angry. Why why so hostile? You see this, ma'am? He tried to take my property from my hands. You have no authority whatsoever over me because I've committed no crime. We're not saying you committed a crime, sir. >> So, you saw So, I YOU'RE NOT SAYING I COMMITTED a crime and you just tried to steal my property. >> try to steal it. >> Yes, you did. You said, "I am taking You have no >> going to allow you to stand on the side of the >> going to not allow me because you have no authority to stop me. Period. No authority to stop me. >> I'm not I'm not going to let you do it, sir. I'm not going to You have no authority to stop me. You wanted our attention, you got it. I mean you >> want your attention. I'm not. No, I'm not. Oh, so when you pull people over with radar, you're disrupting traffic because they're slowing down. That's your logic. Get out of here. Wow. He talks like that in front of his kids. You go and rob people of the cash, brutalize people, and you go home to your kids. That's a shame. That's fine. You can stand right there. But >> I'll stand where I want. YOU AIN'T GOING TO STOP me because you have no authority to stop me. Put your hands on me. You see what this did? You see what he did? I'm Don't put your hands on me. Take it to court. That's what I want you to do. That's what I want you I want you to take it to court. >> So, NOW BEFORE WE GO ANY FARTHER, you're pulling me over for what? Because you had disorderly conduct. Because you had your finger >> Disorderly conduct what? >> That's what's about to happen. You're about to be arrested again for resisting arrest. >> not resisting anything. >> yeah. RIGHT NOW YOU'RE RIGHT NOW you're you're being detained. >> For what? You're being detained. >> you why I stopped you already, SIR. >> FOR PUTTING MY MIDDLE finger up. That's Yeah, exactly. You extended your arm out the window. >> I had my middle finger out the window. >> Okay, let's get your Let me get your ID. >> You had your middle finger out the window. Okay, yes. And that's what I said. You had your middle finger out the window. >> We're going to tow the car. We're going to call call social services for the kid. >> Oh, so now you're threatening Now you're threatening my child. >> No, he's not. He's telling you what's going to happen. It's a promise. You're threatening my child now. >> you what's going to happen. >> Thank you very much. Thank you very much. You're welcome. Thank you, bro. I'm going to set this camera here to keep track of you. >> I don't want to be on camera. But make sure you also record yourself so you can see how you're acting. They stole my property. I was alongside the road Let me get you the ID cuz I'm going to take you to court and sue you. Okay. So, I want to get this clear one more time. You pulled me over for a constitutionally protected activity, right? I pulled you over because you had your finger your >> you off because you stole my property. Okay. Registration and insurance, please. You already know that. >> close that door so the dog doesn't get out, please? You had no right to open my door. >> Yes, well how how are you going to hand us the the >> I can hand you the paperwork. So, you. He stuck his arm out the window with his middle finger. Okay. As he was driving I'm like, "Oh, game on." Yeah. That's That's all fair. Yeah. Yeah. I don't even want to talk to you. Damn, we going to have problems with that guy. Oh, yeah. But after he's going to do something stupid. He got a kid in the car and dog in the car. He locked him up. But if the dog in the Impala, you know, but he'll do something stupid. But for now it is what it is. He came through yelling at the window and gave finger as he was driving away. Deputy pulled him over and then wrote him for hand gesture. So wrote him a a a side ticket for hand gesture. So So I like it when somebody pulled him over and wrote him for what? Hand gesture. Like the the hand gesture rather the That's pushing it. Um like you I mean he pulled him over for what? Like giving him the middle finger. Yeah, giving him a yeah, for giving him a middle finger. So They didn't do that. Yeah. Yeah, that's going to get thrown out. But I told him that's going to get thrown out. But it is just going to you know, it's going to cause a problem. I tried to give I was going to give him back the sign, but the guy already ripped the sign up. So cuz I went and talked to him and obviously he didn't want to hear anything I had to say by that time, you know. But uh yeah, so just just be just giving you a heads up. He's looking He's looking at the Yeah. Yep, he is. Yep, he is. The problem is he's doing it and he had the kid and the dog in the car, you know. I mean he's he's going to mess up eventually. He's going to do something really stupid and then we are going to be able to really lock him up. So In the end, it didn't hold up. The case went nowhere like they already admitted it would and he ended up suing them over what happened. He actually won and was awarded $50,000, which says everything about how badly they handled this from start to finish. They kept pushing a stop they knew didn't make sense, turned a simple gesture into a full-blown detention, and even crossed the line by threatening his child just to gain control of the situation. They tried to force authority where they had none and it came back on them the only way it really can, in court.
