months now okay so why don't you both come over here real quick because the issue is is that we got callers that you guys are peering into car windows and no it's just dark I can't see at night so I have started shining the light right so why are we why were we shining it in somebody's car that's not yours we only have backpacks on right now we're walking and the flashlight crossed the back of the dude's window and dude started yelling at us who were like what like we're walking you can't really [ __ ] do that where where are you staying I'm actually staying up on 11th Street staying up on 11th street so what are we doing walking around it I can't it's two in the morning look for two my mom's boyfriend's kind of being an [ __ ] okay and me and them are arguing at the moment so I had to get the [ __ ] out of the house okay and who are you huh who are you I saw my brother sounds cool and it's cool what's your last name cole Smith your hands in your pockets bro I don't really care that you're doing I mean oh nothing good I guess but I mean we don't have backpacks or anything so it's not here right but you have a person to be going doing anything bad right you could put well I have to be able before when I've been on the streets forever so if you've been contacted by police we'd have a record of you yeah have you ever been contacted by police not not ever in your entire life and you're from Bellingham you've been homeless have you applied for any Services no you've never applied for any Services because I've been living with my mom and [ __ ] but I don't believe it she just recently kicked me out cool I believe you're lying to me right now and I don't believe that you're probably your accurate information so this is your last opportunity to tell me what your on it so it's like okay why don't you sit the portable drill and the flashlight on the hood of my car please thank you if it doesn't have any bits yeah it would be helpful for me if you removed all the items from your pockets that would help me um alleviate any concerns that I might have that you might be out here committing additional crimes [Applause] and I'm not worried about paraphernalia or anything like that man a little bit of dope I'm not worried about either I don't have it either okay I saw the tutor so I went through copies hit up on this this is the tough part yeah it's gonna blow it in my face that's it that's everything you got in your pockets pants Pockets everything yeah you mind if I pat you down real quick tutor lighters torch flashlight affordable drill foreign [Applause] so what what are we carrying around the portable drill for man I don't know if you guys just in case I've seen some of that once you buy it it doesn't have any bits on it so obviously not doing anything right well is this is it stolen no how'd you how'd you come to own it just across all this people donate [ __ ] all the time people foreign [Applause] here's the deal all right I've known you Tristan for a long time okay you know I know I know what you've gone through I've shared some of that with you and um to be honest bringing this to Blaine I'm not real happy about man okay uh you [Applause] with your history lying to me this stuff I apologize yeah um my preference would be that you don't reside in Blaine anymore yeah okay uh officer Leland told you that I have nothing but time on my hands I would make it my personal mission to watch you 24 hours a day and make sure that you do not commit criminal conduct in my city is that clear yeah so Blaine is not the place to vehicle prowl or do things like that and you I know I know you got issues man right and I know you're going through stuff trying to get sober um but you can't be reading this line okay this if this is supposed to be home based for you to like get get your head straight get sober get clean yeah you know we've always had a good relationship I don't want that to turn the other way yeah okay I honestly didn't expect what happened tonight we were just you came out here to get sober and he asked me for help she was like had to come stay on my spot yeah that's that's admirable but I want you to take care of number one first yeah you get right before you can help other people yep okay speaking words do you have access to uh NA meetings and AAA meetings around here like times I don't but yeah no cigarettes um if you go to any one of these churches probably during the daytime tomorrow they usually got somebody doing something in there they should have a list of all the times that they're at all the other local places perfect okay I don't have more nicotine in it so yeah that well just to be uh thorough here I'm just gonna double check your bike stops falling all right and I know it's nothing personal I know you said it's a Christmas present but we both know that this wouldn't be the first time you had a stolen bike on you yeah so we're just going to check this real quick [Applause] I sit down yes yeah so [Applause] you can sit down too if you want I'm all right okay I don't mind at least standing on that side though so of course appreciate it you just been in Bellingham Tristan you've been like other places too in Bellingham for the time I left until about two years ago I ended up going out to concrete two um turned out pretty bad so I ended up having to come back out here like a year later or whatever and then I got a little too heavy into the opiates and the Fentanyl and I started getting on the path where I was overdosing almost consistently so I gotta call my grandson get the [ __ ] out of here in Kansas going to Oberlin and um Fort Scott for the last six months questions [Applause] [Applause] what to John 22 Colson code four checks so um I can tell you guys that the bear mobile it's going to happen because I'm going to write up this report I'm gonna send out an email to all the other officers in the city of Lane exactly what happened what you two are up to what you look like what the bike looks like where you were at and everyone's going to be checking for you so do yourselves a favor and either actually get queen of silver and button yourself up a bit or go somewhere else while you're causing mystery is that is that pretty clear yeah you know me from the street days I'm not gonna give it up this is just this is what we do we keep the city safe we keep the city clean because I care about everybody's rights including your guys's so that's just how we're gonna do okay I don't have anything else for me is hard no that's
