This interaction started when a legal hunter was trying to retrieve a downed duck when sheriff officers stopped him after a complaint and refused to let him leave, surrounding him and demanding ID while calling it an investigation without clearly stating any violation as the hunter pushed back questioning their authority and insisting he was acting within the law while officers kept him detained on scene repeating the same justification, turning a simple hunting trip into a tense standoff over identification and legal grounds with no charges actually being made. The hunter repeatedly asked what law justified the stop but never got a clear answer. The situation stayed stuck in a loop of demands without proper explanation until the interaction eventually stalled out without any arrest. He's on medicine, and he's a very emotional guy. And I want you to know the turmoil by you surrounding him this morning really upset him. So, we went and we got my other truck, okay? To go get firewood, okay? We went to Hitting Center and got firewood. But he was so distraught, he just got his learner's permit. He was crying, sir. He was crying because of you guys this morning. And you know what he did? He backed right into a tree and broke the mirror on his grandfather's truck. That's how messed up what y'all did this morning was, man. And then the ticket they like you did? They give me a ticket for refusing after I told you who you were? Y'all some low, low-class Where the hell's Tony Woody, man? He was a better sheriff than what the hell y'all running now. Part two. It's crazy. Man can't even go hunting and feed his own family with all that's got to happen. Y'all are wrong. You was wrong as could be. Whatever your name is, I didn't get your name. But you're wrong, man. And you ought to drop that damn stupid charge you gave me, some bull sh- Oh, not providing my ID after I told you who I was. Bull You're some low-class departments. In the end, the stop fell apart under pressure. No charges were actually justified on the spot, and the hunter was clearly not doing anything illegal while trying to retrieve his bird. The officers kept it framed as an investigation, but never backed it with clear legal grounding. It left a lot of questions about why the situation was escalated in the first place, and whether the detainment was even necessary.
