I'm Captain Valerie Little John with the Office of Media Relations. This is an update to an officer involved shooting that occurred on September 24th, 2025. It was just after 3:00 a.m. when Oklahoma City Police received multiple 911 calls to the 3000 block of Southwest 64th Terrace regarding a disturbance involving a man standing outside shouting and making threats towards children. >> Oklahoma City Police Department. How can I help you? Hi, my name I live on um Southwest 64th Paris and um AC uh across the street from my house like caddy cornered across the street. There's a male outside in in front of somebody's house in front of their fence and he's out there just uh screaming and hollering. And >> you said it's across from your house. >> Caddy corned across from my house. I'm at I'm sorry, Southwest 64th Paris. And there's I don't see anybody else out there. It is dark and he is carrying on screaming and hollering, cussing and uh something about beat them and calling somebody. I mean, all kinds of stuff. And I have to leave for work in about 30 minutes or so. And I'm I'm afraid to go out my door. >> Oklahoma City 911. What's the address of your emergency? >> Hey, there's a there's a guy making a disturbance outside the house or it's next door. >> What's He's making to the neighbor. >> What the address is >> Southwest 64th >> Southwest 54th >> 64th >> 64th >> 64th Terrace. >> Okay. Yeah, he's making threats about the kids and stuff, but I can't see him talking to anybody >> inside the house or cuz he he's right outside the gates. >> Is there somebody out there with him or is it just him? >> I can't see I can't see anyone else besides him. >> Okay. You said he was making threats. >> Yeah, he's making threats about killing killing someone's kids and stuff. >> The first officer arrived on scene and found 45-year-old Jason Redshirt yelling outside of a residence. The officer immediately began trying to deescalate the situation and calm Red Shirt down. Red Shirt responded by cursing at and threatening the officer while shouting racial slurs. He then approached the officer in an aggressive manner and was pepper-sprayed. Red Shirt retreated to a trailer parked in a nearby driveway. Close to the trailer were numerous bricks as well. Red Shirt picked up a board from the trailer and presented it as a weapon towards the officer. The officer again pepper-sprayed Red Shirt in an effort to get him to drop the board along with giving him multiple commands to stop. Red Shirt hurled the large board at the officer, striking him. Red Shirt then continued to assault the officer by throwing multiple bricks at him. Upon being assaulted with the bricks and board, the officer discharged his firearm at Redshirt, striking and wounding him. What's going on, man? >> Pull your gun out. >> Going on. >> Damn. You know, like those over there rape kids. So, I'm going to make you go over there and kill that. >> What do you hear? >> You are going to go kill that, son. Stay away with me. >> No. >> You come at me, mother. You're going to die. >> My son will not let you touch me because he will die when you touch. >> Where do you live at? >> I have no home. I'm homeless. Mother, >> what are you doing over here? [ __ ] you. >> What are you doing over here? >> What are you doing here? >> Because you're out here. >> What are you doing? Cuz God is here, mother. I am Jason Red shirt. I am a god. And you didn't know I was a god, huh? Youing goddamn police department. You didn't know. You the god. >> There's people. >> I will kill you. You think you are buff? I will hit you once and kill you with one hit, mother. >> There are people out here sleeping, man. >> Them people, they're going to die today at 7:00. >> Why is that? >> Cuz God is here and he's killing all unless they repent. If you want to kneel on your knee, you can repent and go to heaven. Otherwise, you will die and at 7:00 you will be dead. No. Tell your police department that you will die. Quit following me. I mean it. Touch me. Touch me. You will see my son smite you. You won't touch me no more cuz he don't like the way you do it. Put it down. STOP. >> Red shirt was transported to an area hospital for treatment. He was arrested on two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. The officer sustained a non-life-threatening injury from being struck by the items that were hurled at him. The involved officer has been placed on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. The investigation is still in the early stages and will take time to complete.
