push too far and even the toughest school bully meets someone tougher, the law. Here are five cases when school bullies get arrested. Number five, what happens when your roommate is a total nightmare? A student at the University of Cincinnati finds herself trapped in a frustrating and unhealthy dorm situation that's gone unchecked for weeks. Her roommate, recently transferred after getting removed from another dorm, is openly doing illegal things in her room. Here's what happens when the police intervene. So, um, we are because of the laws in Ohio have changed. Smoking marijuana technically legal, but it is against policy property. It's legal. >> It's It is legal, but it is against policy. So what we can do if you you can go through your RA >> and I've contacted her multiple times. This is like the seventh time. I can't sleep in a room that smells like this. My asthma is way too bad. >> So you know you have gone through your >> Okay. >> Multiple times. >> Okay. And they they have you haven't tried to go like to the RC or anybody like that? >> Yes. They've still done nothing. She got moved out of our last place cuz she did this and so they moved her into my place. >> Okay, then let's uh we'll we'll send some somebody over there and see if >> she had smoke alarms covered. >> Yeah, she has her smoke alarms covered with plastic bags. That's >> like right. >> I told Mara that sent her photos and she still have done nothing. >> Hello. She just h I think she just >> She did. Yeah. >> You have her information? >> Hm. >> You have her information? >> I don't even know her first name. >> She's your roommate and she's just in here smoking weed and stuff. >> She wants to be here every day. >> What's her name? >> I don't know her name. I have to go on my stormier thing. They just put her in my room cuz she got kicked in the wrong place for smoking. >> Where's the RV on this floor? >> All the way down there. She doesn't do >> She doesn't What? >> She doesn't do >> All right. Well, I'll let her know where your What room is this? >> H know what room is. It would say all right on it. >> She stole my ad my she stole my adon vance on spring. >> She's reported it multiple times to the RA and even filed a police report when she discovered her ADHD medicine had been stolen. Still, nothing changes. >> And UCPD did nothing. >> Did you call us to make a report? >> Yes, I made a report. I had to make reports. I came back. Mom had to pay $500. >> That's her name. Get that. >> She's not even a student. She has a blue ash and she doesn't go to class. I don't get to the point of having people in housing. Don't ask. Can I take a picture of your UC ID? I'm just going to attach you to it. >> Yeah. And she had all of our Hold on. I found the photo. She had her all of our fireplaces with plastic baggies and I took it down. Okay. >> She put it back up. >> I sent over this and like checked the rings and she saw that and she still did not. Okay. Can you send that photo to us? >> Yeah. >> If you could send that photo to my email, that'll be great. >> What email? >> A N D E R. >> A N. >> When did she move into your your dorm? >> She moved in um the middle of February. >> Middle of February. Okay. And then like every day it's been reoccurred from the first. I had to get a hotel last week cuz I literally could not sleep in there. Like my I'm in this like place because my asthma is so bad. >> Mhm. >> And so like had to get mom had to pay for a hotel last week so I could sleep in my dorm. >> So I could actually sleep for all my tests last week. >> Mom should not pay for that. She's already sit here. >> Yeah. Exactly. >> Yeah. >> Campus officers arrive and confirm the strong smell of illegal substances throughout the hall. You guys can smell the we can smell around the corner. >> As soon as we open the door down there, we can smell. Yeah, it's like that every day. Okay. >> Do you The smoke detector is still covered in there? Is it all the smoke detectors in your room? >> Not just here, but I just found but it's still covered. >> So, she's she's covering up in the common areas and she's covering it up in her room. >> And she puts towels right here. >> Yeah, she's smoking that hallway. The alcohol is coming down. >> Okay. >> Wait. I mean, do you want her >> gone and all her friends gone? I might. I pay too much to live here. >> Yeah. Okay. >> Is it just her >> smoking and her friends are coming in with her? >> Yes. >> How many friends? >> It depends on the day. >> What's about tonight? I think there's one guy in there. >> One guy. >> None of them are used to speaking as well. She lives 5 minutes away. >> Like her after her house is 5 minutes away. >> This her third time moving the dorms. >> Did you get her name? >> Yeah. All right. So, are they all smoking together or is it just her? >> They're all smoking together. >> And they're not even >> I'm sorry to this. >> Thank you. Someone already didn't do anything. Well, I just woke her up. So, I guess whoever the RA that's on call is tell them. So, maybe we can get some results with her. >> Yeah. >> All right. >> Are they in there right now? The people who are UC students? >> Either her or her friend is in there. I don't know. One of them like ran out cuz they heard the guns or both of them. >> So, she's in there. >> I think so. Either her or her friend. >> We'll get the RA down here. They can do it. As tensions rise, the reporting student voices her disappointment with how past complaints were handled. >> It's illegal in Ohio. This is federal funded. It's not the age of 21. You can't smoke. I don't like I don't know what you're doing. You could argue with them on the phone. I said just send cops here. I'll be done. >> It was the dispenser. >> Yes. Like he was like trying to argue with me. >> Okay, we'll take we'll we'll address that as well. >> I put up with too much paying this much money out of state to be here. >> Yeah. >> So, what about those people who aren't suing us that you're smoking with? Can we do something about that? Kick them out. >> I mean, >> you're technically allowed to have that be more of an RA question >> because two guests. >> Yeah, you're only allowed to have two guests at a time. They're no long for more than like 2 or 3 days, I think. Right. >> Under these circumstances, the temporary RA might tell them to go ahead and get out of here, right? >> Yeah. If they're obviously under the age 21 here on a thoroughly [ __ ] campus called get out. >> Can't we just get her out too while we're at it? >> Unfortunately. >> Yeah, unfortunately. We could just advise her of UC policy and tell her, you know, >> tell her that this is going to get set code and we start up the right channels for you. at least talk to housing and get the ball rolling again. Right. >> Get my money back for the hotels I had to spend last week to live properly in Ohio. >> I wish. I'm trying to think of a way that you could do that. >> Hotels are not cheap here. >> Storm. >> Mhm. >> And you said you're taking criminal justice or you're >> I'm in pre-law program. The six year program. You're pretty good. >> Thank you. I see someone with a bad night for this one. He's asking if someone that's her. >> That's her. >> Mhm. >> Hopefully something. >> Hello. Hopefully you can help us resolve this situation. Apparently, >> the roommate denies everything, saying she just got home from work and that the smell isn't coming from her. >> Okay. She actually has people in there that aren't students right now with another uh roommate. Apparently, they're in there smoking and apparently she has just came moved in here from another place. >> She's right here. >> Huh? >> Paul, this is the one that was that you said was >> Okay. >> And there's people in there. I have my grandkid. >> Well, the whole floor smells like >> we can smell it. >> Like the whole the whole floor smells. We smelled it earlier. We couldn't pinpoint it. Um, so now it smells at work. >> You just got home. >> Were they in there while you were at work? >> No. >> Nobody was here. >> So, when did you get back from work? like two hours ago when I texted her I needed a charger. >> So if we open that door we can smell there and that's not from her. So who would be smoking? We had it on but we didn't smoke in we didn't smoke. >> Well that's what I'm asking for. He's not to lie to us. >> No we didn't. >> It's legal in the state of Ohio but not on the campus grounds. >> No we are on campus grounds but >> that's right. Yes. Um, so what's your name? Sorry. >> Riley. >> Riley. Is there someone in there right now? >> Perfect. >> Okay. When did they get here? >> She got here. >> So they've been there for 2 hours. >> I just got home from I was on >> and you just got home. All right. Well, can we open the door? Whoever lives here, can we open the door and go in? Is that allowed? >> Yeah. I don't care. >> Okay. You just got to make sure you're inviting us in. Best will be power. >> You can I mean this is your room >> but yeah it I mean it smells very strong. [Music] >> By the end officers document the scene, collect ID information and encourage both students to follow up with housing for further action. >> Um so like is there any like thing in the room? Okay. >> Well, then I guess this would just be a documentation. I will write an IR. You guys write your report. >> Okay. >> Is there anything else that you guys need to do? >> Can I get your your record ID? I mean, this is your room as well. Like, we want to make sure this doesn't happen again. It's just like that action can't be taking place inside the residence halls. >> You have a picture of it? >> I was getting one. I was kind of calling my mom, but I just leave cuz she ain't answering the phone. >> Okay. You don't have your ID with you? >> Um, >> okay. >> Do you know your social security number? >> No, I know it. >> I'm just going to advise you policy. You probably already know can't smoke weed in the dorms. We know it's legal in Ohio. Just it's prohibited on UC campus. Um, we also have pictures of the the um the fire devices, the smoke detectors being covered. That is a minor misdemeanor. So, you can be charged with that. We're not going to do any of that now. Just if you going to smoke, take it off campus. It's also an inconvenience to your neighbor. So, keep it. All right. >> You guys have everything you need? Yeah, we have all the IDs and then um are you going to leave the building? >> Yeah, I'm going to leave. >> Okay, then you can walk out with them. >> I'm leaving. >> You're both okay. >> Your personal RA will probably want to >> For now, there's no arrest, but the warning is clear. If it happens again, more serious consequences may follow. >> Maline is a great RA. I know. She's probably tried to check in multiple times. I'm sure she will try again. She never set up. >> Okay. So, why don't you set All right. Do you need anything else from us for Oh, we need your badge numbers and names for our report, >> but if that works with you, >> I don't think you're putting at risk right there by saying I don't want to call snatched on her. >> Yeah, >> she took one. She stole it. >> We didn't hear that. >> Okay. So, >> that happened. >> She wanted to tell the officers. I already made police support cuz I had to get more entrance and the insurance wouldn't pay for it so we pay out of pocket. >> Okay. Did you make a use like did >> Yes. Cuz the investigator on the phone said it's a pain medicine. >> Okay. I think college students are going to want vanal over pain medicine. >> So that was stupid for the investigator at UC said that to me. >> Said what to >> he said it's not like it's oxyon flutter on campus. And I said my vitamin A. >> Who was that? Do you get the officer's name or is it >> investigator called me? >> Because it's concerning that and she's also taking your prescribed medication. >> Yeah. >> And it's 70 millig like it was a full pill bottle. >> Okay. So going forward, let's keep that in your personal room. Keep your door locked. >> I did. My door was locked and then I came home so I door unlocked so I don't know if she went down there. >> Like I locked my door every time I leave. >> When was this? Like mom break. She stayed here during giving me her. >> Officers now urge her to escalate the complaint to a supervisor and to reconsider pressing charges. Did you tell housing or anything like that about the key situation about you coming back to your room unlocked? Because I've called you guys before. I told them about it cuz I had to come back later. >> Okay. >> She had she keeps like getting all of her keys out and she like kept them on. She never gave them back and she finally just gave them back. >> Okay. >> That's far from my end. I apologize if you got that kind of response. If you're not satisfied with that, I would, you know, advise you to contact a supervisor at UCPD. And if you have a complaint about way somebody's handling something, I would tell you to highly, you know, encourage you to contact them and see if we can get that resolved. That should have happened, >> right? >> Yeah. Elevated. >> So, yeah, you're you know, it should nothing should be >> it should look like compared to doxycod. >> Yeah, it's it's still a prescription. >> Exactly. I need my phone to go to class and make money. >> Well, and that's that's what I'm telling you is that if you felt like that was wrong, I don't know what the conversation was or whatever, but I would suggest contact. >> But you're just like trying to talk about like pressing charges against her. She said he's said he's she's like too young and everything. So, I didn't press charges cuz like she like made me feel better with the phone and wasn't oxycodone. So, it doesn't matter. >> Yeah, we can that's definitely I think you should definitely revisit your CTD and >> bring that you can change your mind. statute of limitations. They they talk you out of it. Just go back to them. You >> should have said that to me. >> That's what I'm telling you. You have to talk to a boss and then that way they can address it properly. >> Okay. We obviously can't cuz we're not in the investigative section. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Are there three? >> Three. There's three. >> There's three in the supervisor. Yeah. >> Yeah. >> So, it shouldn't be too hard to be too hard to figure out who put back on. Like I said, if you feel like that's something you want to do, I would encourage you to do it, okay? Because it shouldn't happen. >> And yeah, and then also, do you want to stay in this room? >> We're going to get out of your way. >> Do you have other Thank you very much. >> Anything? >> Number three, emotional breakdown leads to arrest in college dorm. A college dorm turns into a chaotic scene when campus authorities respond to a complaint involving a distressed student. A dorm assistant informs officers that the student had come to the front desk earlier, visibly upset about a recent breakup with her boyfriend. The officers make their way to the student's room where she's clearly still emotionally overwhelmed. >> Down the hallway to the left on the left side. >> Where you going? >> No, I'm I'm just the DA. She had come earlier while I was at the front desk and she said that her and her boyfriend went through a breakup. >> So, we're resident. Yeah, I'm a DA. I work at the front desk. Okay. But yeah. >> Hi. Can you tell me what's going on? >> This dude got me [ __ ] it up all the way. >> This is not what we're doing. >> Stand up. Let's go. Stand up now. >> Get your stuff. Let's go. >> Thank you, Cameron, so much. I said, "Let's go." >> The officers try to keep the situation calm, but her aggressive tone and refusal to follow directions escalate things. Bro, they're dogs. They're alling dogs at the end of the day. They belong in dog. They belong in the dog kettle. >> Hey, that is enough. I don't know what the problem is right now, but this ain't going to help. That ain't nothing for [Applause] you. >> You don't know what you are doing right now. >> I know. I don't know what I'm doing. >> I know. I know. >> Stop moving. Am >> I forced to contact a >> Stop moving. >> Put your hands behind your back now. >> 54. Hold traffic. >> 153. >> Never fall in love. Where's >> Let's go. Get up now. >> Bend your knees. You don't need that. You don't need enough. You don't need You don't need You don't need You're selfish. Stand up. Are we done? >> Yeah, I'm done. Bro, these handcuffs hurt. I'm sure they do. Get these off me. >> Despite a resistance, the officers maintain control and continue to escort her out of the building. >> But treat you wrong. No god. You may never do yourself. No god. You never know yourself. You never loved yourself. You never loved your parents. You never loved anyone, bro. Love yourself, bro. Love yourself. >> Let's go. >> You patted her down. >> Not yet. >> No. Do you have anything on you that's going to hurt me? >> Except me. Are things going to be okay? Oh, see. Hold on. >> Everything's going to be okay. Everything going to be all right. All what that happens to them, bro. They end up the seat belt. You don't think anyone's here to protect you? These cops are >> these cops are Keep your head up. Help. >> I tried. this. >> She has been officially charged with trespassing, disorderly conduct, and resisting or obstructing an officer without violence. Number two, one wrong move, and now this teen's out of school for good. An ordinary day at school turns chaotic when a student lashes out after a stressful transition. The teen, already overwhelmed from having to change schools that day, becomes agitated during a brief hallway interaction with a school staff member. Here's what happens next. >> Let me tell you something. >> Okay. >> You're lucky that you have family here. >> And you're lucky she's here. >> Do you realize that threatening or >> Oh, I'm not threatening. >> I'm just saying. >> Do you realize you could be arrested for threatening school employees? >> I'm not. >> I'm just saying. >> You're saying that you want to put me on the ground? I said you locked that. >> Huh? >> Can you go? >> No, ma'am. >> Can you go? >> No, ma'am. >> No. I'm trying to get you to calm down. This isn't like you. This isn't like you. I don't know what's going on. I just saw you in here. I just stopped to say hi. Put your hands on me. Do not >> Hey, she's a minor. >> I don't care. Get out of my face. >> She She just the police officer. Sorry. >> She is. >> Are you mom? >> I am mom. >> Okay. >> She's very autistic. >> Oh, I know. I know her. >> I have never had a problem with her. >> Yes. >> She actually comes up. She hugs me. We get along just fine. >> She's had a bad day. She had a change in school today. So, >> okay. >> She probably should have just stayed home instead of coming to the college. >> So, I just happened to be walking by and said hi to her. I didn't know what she was in here for. >> Mhm. >> And then she was flipping out on Miss Almer. >> Mhm. >> And was highly agitated. Actually pushed my arm away. I recognized she was having a bad day. Let it go. >> The officer explains that certain actions like threatening staff or making physical contact automatically trigger an arrest. >> Okay. But then when she threatened Miss and she was getting up on Miss R's encroaching Miss's desk, turned the body cam on, she threatened Miss R. I'm not backing away because now I see what's going on. >> And then she asked me to leave. I said, "No, ma'am. I can't leave. I just stopped here." >> Yes. >> You know, and she shoved me. >> Okay. >> And then that's what you saw. >> So, what do we need to do? >> She's going to go to jail. >> Go to jail. >> Yeah. Better on law enforcement offic. >> Can you not put her in? >> No, ma'am. She will be arrested. She will stay in handcuffs and she will take her to jail right now. And then are you mom? >> I'm mom. So what'll happen is we have to notify DJJ. >> So depending on where we're at with the score sheet, they do a score they score sheet. They check things off. Has she been in trouble before? What the felony is? And then they determine if does she get released back to you or does she go to Department of Juvenile Justice for 21 days. >> So I can't tell you which one that'll be because I don't I don't have the score sheet. I don't know what her she's never been in trouble. >> No, she's usually one of our best kids. >> She's a good kid. Yeah, she's autistic and she's had a whole bunch of changes today. I should have just come picked her up. >> But there there's maybe three charges in the school setting that we draw a line at. >> Okay. >> Um one is a written threat to do a mass shooting. One is if they batter a teacher or if they batter an officer. >> Other ones we usually file, send it to the state attorney's office and deal with it down the road. But there there are ones where we draw the line. >> And unfortunately, this this is one of those that we we draw the line. Um, and I've known Deputy Muton for years and she's way more relaxed than me. >> I'm sorry. >> So, >> like I said, I knew I she because she had her sister said she really needed her phone so she's trying to reach me, >> right? >> But I was outside, my phone was inside. So, >> and and I understand kids just have off days. They're just like us. They have bad days. But again, once once I once we step over a line, then we're we're in a corner. >> So, just expel her from school. She won't be back. Okay. >> Officers try to explain the seriousness of the situation while maintaining respect for the student's condition. >> I don't think I don't I don't know. I mean, I haven't talked to her dad. I follow her dad up here. Where will she go from here? >> She'll go up here to our our county facility. That's where we take all of our if we make arrest on anybody, they'll go to our jails here. >> She then her what we were they refer to as an arrest report, we call a probable cause affidavit. That's just stating the facts of what led her to say, "Okay, this crime was committed by this person. So, this is justifies my arrest." >> That gets sent to DJJ, Department of Juvenile Justice. They review it and they begin to score score it based on what the charge is, criminal, etc. Okay? >> And when they get to whatever that magic number is, then they decide they call back to the jail and say, "Release them to mom or parents or hold them. We're sending a transport to pick them up because they'll go to DJJ for 21 days to be help there." It'll be one or the one or the other. >> What did she say to her? >> She threatened to put her in the ground. She said she was lucky that she had family her so I would put you on the ground. Put you in the ground. >> And then she started backpedaling saying, "No, I wasn't threatening. I was just saying." >> She's just saying, "But that is a threat." That's what I tried to tell you. Your words, the way you say your words and your body action, don't hurt the >> one thing that also that we can do cuz it's that dismissal, >> right? So, I'll get Deputy Muton, take her vehicle to the back. We'll take her out the back door. So, there's, you know, I'm not trying to create a spect. >> So, >> I know, you know, she's row here. I'm a sergeant over the units. So, I supervise all of them that are that are at the schools. Um, I mean, I know this is a this is a lot for mom to process right now >> cuz I don't know why where it's coming from. >> The officers acknowledge that the student is typically well behaved and hope this is just a bad day, but policy requires action. >> And a lot of times we don't either. And you know, in my career working in the school, I've been in this situation and then the very next day I'm still talking to the kid because they're back at school. We still work on our relationship to >> to do whatever we can to help them. Unlike the road, you make an arrest, you may never see the person. >> They may not want her back in school. I mean, if they want her >> Well, they'll be their Yes, ma'am. There'll be their policy and stuff that they that they follow. >> Since she did that, I don't think they'll let her back. >> Well, that is a possibility, but I I can't say um >> 100% for sure. Yes, ma'am. They'll be the ones that can certainly answer those questions for you. So, >> um >> I'll be honest with you, a lot of times if it's their very first one, Mhm. >> And depending on the severity of this, I'm not I'm not physically injured. Okay. >> But she needs to know that this is like very very >> Oh, this is serious. She is she is not going. What I'm saying is the chances of DJJ accepting her are a little bit more on the slim side because I'm not injured. >> But don't >> I wouldn't bank on it. I'm not because you never know with the DJJ screeners, right? Let me see. You cool with that? It's not like I'm going anywhere. I don't know what that's >> I know. >> You know I'm still a minor cuz y'all can't take me to jail. >> We can't. >> I'm still a minor. >> Yes, we we we can take minors to jail. Not sure who gave you that information that we couldn't, but we can. And there's a different process we have to go through that involves the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, but juveniles can be placed under arrest. [Music] >> How do they take sneakers all day long? >> Even though she's a minor, law enforcement has the authority to take her into custody. The officers then begin the process of arrest. You know when they arrest you, you're supposed to say you're under arrest you can be used against you. >> Are you Miranda warnings? >> If you have you have to tell them their rights on that if you're doing what's called a custodial interrogation. So if we arrest somebody or we limit their freedom of movement and then we begin to interview them or interrogate them about a crime that we can use to build our case, then we have to mirandize them >> before that. But just yeah, TV will make it look like you have to do that every time, but it's only when they're in custody and you're interrogating them about a crime to solidify your case against them. Now, simple questions like, "What's your name? where do you live? See, that's that doesn't count. But if we had a guy and we arrested him, we're talking about a burglary and we start asking him trying to put him at another burglary, we have to tell them their Miranda rights before before we begin to question. >> Hey, Goldie. You better >> Jesus. handcuffs. >> I'm not following either. >> Okay. I got my paperwork printed, transmitted as far as probable cause. >> Okay. >> So, I'll take her. >> Okay. >> Drop her, make phone calls, and then I'll come back and finish my report. >> Whatever. Or you can catch it tomorrow if you got time. Long as the PC's in there, we're good. >> PC's in. So, it's already been transmitted. So, if you want to double check it, I >> Yeah, once we once we get her in your vehicle, then I'll go get it. >> I still need to search her real quick. >> Okay. >> I got >> Well, it's just our policy. We have to go on everyone. So, >> go ahead. >> Okay, let's go in this office at least so that way you're not out in the open. >> The arrest is carried out with care. She's searched, cuffed, and escorted through the back of the building to minimize disruption. >> Okay. You don't have anything in your pockets? >> No. Okay. Okay. Spread your feet for me, sweetie. >> Okay. We're about to get uncomfortable. Okay. >> What's the foot traffic? >> Okay. >> All right. Well, now that Yeah. Now that this I mean, if we had all those I didn't want to walk around there, but >> See, I told you you might have to turn your knees sideways cuz it's all right. wasn't even going to bother trying to do that. >> So, all right. I'm going to seat belt you in. >> Okay. Shutting the camera off. >> Mine's still going. >> Hey. Um, yeah. Long as PC's in, fine. We can work on it tomorrow. You're good though, right? >> Yeah. 100%. >> Uninjured, sir. >> Hello. >> Hello. Got one for you. >> Oh, okay. >> Okay. Um, >> juvenile. >> Juvenile. >> Juvenile. >> Okay. You got any property? >> No, her mom took her. Her mom's been notified. I'm just going to notify DJ. >> Oh, okay. All right, guys. >> Do you got cuffs on? >> Yes, ma'am. >> All right. Um, >> I got Oh, really? Oh, okay. I know that. You want to be a little >> That's what you want. >> She's usually not, but today she Today she tried the system. Yeah. >> Today she tried the system. >> Talk to your mama like that. But you don't talk to me like that. >> Take the rings off when I get this cuff off. Yes, ma'am. >> Oldest pair I have. >> Yeah, they're a little rusty. >> Yeah, I need to put some more oil on. >> Take that headband off. Take the earrings off. >> Now that she's taken into custody, the officers informed the mother of what happens next. >> Catherine, this is Deputy Muton at River Technical College. Uhhuh. >> Um, I spoke to Miss Mary Keane, which is our principal, and she advised that she would like uh your daughter, Kylie, to be trespassed from all school district uh property. So, I am just calling to advise you that she is going to be trespassed from school district property. That's anything that the school owns, any um games, any athletic events, so on and so forth until further notice. All right. >> Do you have any questions for me? >> No, I don't. >> All right. >> Thanks. >> Bye. Bye. Bye. >> The teen is ultimately trespassed from all school district properties and events until further notice. Number one, college roommate drama ends an arrest. A tense roommate feud spirals out of control. Cops show up, handcuffs come out, and one young woman ends up facing serious charges. Here's how it all unfolds. >> Be upstairs. I'm a little afraid for my safety to enter like myself cuz she's very intoxicated right now. >> Do you want to tell me what's going on? >> Yeah. So, basically, um I moved out a couple weeks ago or I >> real quick. Were you there when this happened? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Do you mind just waiting over there for us and we'll interview you separately? >> Yeah. So, basically, I moved out a couple weeks ago. um her boyfriend was arrested in January for three charges of strangulation and one charge of cap and battery. And she had the boyfriend after she found out she was 5 months pregnant come back and he stayed with us for a couple months. And you know at first I was like okay he's supporting her with the baby and whatever. And at this at some point he wouldn't leave. He has no job, no car, no school, no money. So I was paying for groceries for two months. I'm spending my hardearned money on them too. >> And it got to the point where I confronted her. I said he needs to leave. I don't I'm not I don't want him here. He's eating my groceries. I'm not comfortable with him here. >> She got upset. He got upset. They started like, you know, blatantly disrespecting me, you know, not being kind, whatever. So, I left and I had called her mom saying that the boyfriend is in the apartment against her will, you know, I mean, like the mom didn't want him there. The mom pays rent. And so, I came back today to get the rest of my stuff because I'm moving into another apartment in Orlando. And, you know, I get my stuff. She tries to confront me, but I push it off. I ignore it. It's not necessary. >> And I get into the parking lot and she starts screaming at me, confronting me. I said, "I don't want to talk to you right now. I'm not in the mood. You know, we're not talking." She goes, "No, we're going to be in the mood. We're going to talk." >> Mia, right? >> Maya. >> Maya, I apologize to my head. >> My adrenaline's through the roof. I'm so sorry. >> Yeah. Yeah. So, um, basically, um, she starts grabbing my phone cuz I'm going to phone my mom. And I was like, "Look, mom, look who it is." She grabs my arm, pushes it away, tries to grab my phone for me. And so, I was like, "That's what we're not going to do." She starts trying to hit me. So, you know, I'm defending myself. I'm like, "Get off of me." She starts to step in the middle. No separating us. No one's hitting each other. And she keeps coming at me, screaming at me, foaming at the mouth, acting crazy. >> And you, >> so all she did was kind of just >> No, she she tried to slap She slapped my head and >> she like actually slapped you. >> Maya says things got out of hand fast. Alexia started yelling slurs, tried to grab her phone, and then threw the first punch. Maya fought back, and her girlfriend jumped in to break it up. >> Gotcha. Okay. >> I mean, it's not nothing. >> Is it like a scratch? Yeah, it's nothing serious, but I did hit her back, >> you know, in self-defense. I didn't put my hands on her first video proof from my other roommate, but um >> Was the whole thing videotaped? >> I would I don't know when it started. >> Is this the other roommate? >> No, this is my girlfriend. >> The other roommate is in the apartment right now. >> Okay. >> Um >> and the other roommate videaped her. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> And then another man intervened and tried to push her away while she's still screaming at me and like where they're at. >> I don't know where they're at. >> No, I don't. Was he involved at all or? >> No, he's one of the managers here. So I when I came down here to call the police, they kept me safe cuz I don't know what she's >> Okay. So obviously we're going to speak to her, get her side of the story, figure everything out. In the event she let's say she admits everything, we find out there's truth. Would you like her arrested or what would you like? >> I would love that if it's possible. >> Okay, that's fine. >> Just because, you know, I tried not to have any problems. I came here with the intention to get my stuff and leave and she harassed me, saying homophobic slurs and like calling me names and this and that as soon as I walk in the door and I didn't say a word to her. I didn't want any problems. >> Okay. >> So, >> where did all this start? It started in the apartment. >> In the apartment. Um, she knew I was she was aware I was coming today. I told my other roommate and she said she my other roommate asked her, "Do you want to do you want to leave while Maya comes?" cuz I ain't seen her. And she said, "No, I want to confront her actually about what happened because her mom came to Boca Raton from Orlando." >> I was actually on that call. >> Yeah. There was there was nothing that we could do because there was no restraining order in place. >> Her mom said the lawyer said that there was a no contact order in place, but I understand. >> It's not in our system. >> I understand. Don't worry about it. It's just I didn't feel safe living there. I'm sure you could understand. You know, I wasn't comfortable. So you guys are start arguing up there or >> it's she said, "Hey, would you mind if I She's trying to ask Nad, you know, she's, you know, "Hey, can I talk to you before you leave?" I said, "No, actually, I'm not in the mood to talk to you right now." I can tell she's drunk. There's bottle. Keep in mind, she's underage. There's bottles on the counter. Whatever. And she's acting hysterical. So I said, "I'm not in the mood to talk to her right now." I was willing to have a conversation if she was sober, but she's clearly not sober. So I was like, >> Maya goes on to explain how the fight just kept escalating. >> She's like talking to a wall, you know? like that. And so I I we're finished packing my stuff. I go to the main office to say, "Here's my keys." And whatever. It's my car. She comes out. She's trying to find my parents' numbers online and trying to say [ __ ] Parents, >> finding them. >> She followed you down. >> Yeah. She followed me down. Starts screaming at me in the parking lot. >> And this was >> in there where my car is parked over there. >> Cameras at work in that parking lot. >> I would hope so. You have to ask them. I'm not sure if they work or not. >> You said she witnessed everything. >> Yeah, she was there for everything. You want to talk to her >> real quick? Yeah. Um, can you walk us through step by step? Like what was the first part that got physical between you guys? >> When we were at the car about to leave in the parking lot, me, her name is Leang. We were about to leave. We had finished packing myself and everything. Okay. >> My other roommate came down cuz I called her. I said, "Hey, if you want to say bye, you know, I'm not I don't plan on coming back to Boca Raton anytime soon." I said, "Let's say bye." Because, you know, she was nice to me throughout the whole time I lived here. And then as she's coming down, my mom calls me and says, "Listen, like your other roommate, her name's Alexia. She found your dad's number online." My dad is Middle Eastern, so he was raised a certain way. That's my girlfriend. He doesn't know she's my girlfriend. >> Told him that I'm so she and so she comes and says, "You know, I called your dad." She was making fun of me like, "I called your dad. I told him you're Are you happy now?" "Yeah." And my I showed my mom. I said, "Look, like look, she's here now." So she grabs my arm, tries to yank my phone from me. >> Uh, no. >> And so I said to her, I was like, "Don't touch me." And so I pushed her away from grabbing my phone and she starts hitting me. So I start, you know, hitting her in the face. >> Yeah. She's trying to grab my hair. And then Leang is trying to separate us in the meantime. And I'm like, and then she started hitting Leang after that. So I said, "Don't touch my girlfriend." I was like, "Don't touch her. She She has not hit." She says her girlfriend, Leang, was only trying to stop the chaos, but ended up getting hit, too. And in the heat of the moment, Maya claims Alexia even slammed someone's car. >> She fell on the floor at one point, >> the roommate. >> Yeah. >> Cuz Leang was trying to separate us >> and that's when I stopped touching her until she got up and hit Leang again. I was like, "Don't touch my girlfriend." >> Where all did this happen? >> In that parking lot by my car. >> In the cars or behind the car? >> Between the cars. She even started h she was slamming someone's car at some point cuz she was so mad. The car next to my it's a white Audi the jersey plates. >> So yeah. Um I don't know how I know my other roommate text me when she went back up. She was still acting hysterical. I don't know how she is right now. I have another random number as well. >> I have another random number texting me as well saying this. And I all I asked was who they were and I'm like what are you talking about? I don't know who this is. An Orlando area code. So, I'm assuming it's her friend who's also in the apartment saying they're going to get legal and stuff and they're going to get footage tomorrow. Okay. >> All this stuff. I So, not only is she harassing >> Can you text your roommate to send you the video of >> Yeah. >> Can you have her come down? The other roommate, not Alexia. >> Okay. Let me let me call her one second. >> Yeah. Just give us one second. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Oh, everything you probably told her. Can you just explain to me, please? Um, I was I went down to say bye to Maya and her girlfriend and um Alexia came down and started confronting her and basically saying like, "Do you think you're going to leave without speaking to me?" >> Um, and they were yelling back and forth and next thing you know, I saw Alexia get in her face. I saw them still communicating. I turned around for a second. And I look back and like boom, she I don't know. She started going at her and then her girlfriend was being like the defender. I don't I don't know how to deal with hitting and stuff. I've never been in that. So I stayed back. Um but she just helped try to separate it. That's really all she was there for. But the altercation was pretty much between. >> Another roommate backs Maya up saying Alexia came at her first and started the whole thing. >> And Maya. >> Okay. And you were able to see Alexia hit Maya first or you kind of just saw it late all >> I mean she Alexi I didn't see her throw the first hand I saw her approach Maya firstaw >> and then I just saw to the ground >> Maya all um did you have a video of the incident? >> Yes. >> Can I see that please? >> She she was defending [Music] That's where it starts. >> Mhm. >> Okay. >> When your mom followed up with me, I already approached you. I told you that. >> Is there anything else after this? Any more physical Oh. Oh. >> Can you email that to me, please? >> Yeah. She's in the room, correct? >> Yeah. I just want to make sure. >> How is she doing? Like, is she still riled up or is she calm? >> She Well, when I left, she was talking to her mom. >> So, when we go up there, do you think she's going to try to >> I don't know. >> Okay. Well, I guess we'll find out. >> You're going. Okay. Then the cops checked the footage and yep, it shows Alexia was the one who walked up and threw the first punch. With a video and witness statements, the officers head over to talk to Alexia. [Music] Feel like the spirit. >> Hello. >> Hello. >> Hi. >> You mind speaking to us out here? >> What was it? >> Do you mind speaking to us out here? Yeah. >> All right. Perfect. standard. >> So, you know why we're here? >> Yeah. So, my roommate came over here, >> right? >> And she's my Abraham. >> She came over here and she came to talk to me. She came here so >> and then >> really quick. I just have to put you in public, right? >> Wait, put your hands behind your back now. >> Okay. Put your hands behind your back. >> Wait, why am I putting >> Listen, listen to me. Listen to me. >> You're being what? You're not free to leave. You're getting detained. >> Why? Why am I getting detained? >> So, we're going to explain that to you. Okay. >> We're doing a criminal investig. >> I understand. That's what we're >> She touched me first. >> Ma'am, I understand. We're going to talk to you. Okay. >> She touched me first. >> Okay. Let us do our >> Why are you putting me behind cuffs if she turned me first? >> We're going to talk to you. Just let us do our job. Okay. Criminal investigation and you're not afraid to leave. Okay. >> She touched me first. >> I understand. >> Why are you putting me behind cover? She touched me first. right now being detained for an investigation. Okay. >> She touched me first. >> Really quick. >> She put her hands on me. Her and her girlfriend put her hands on me and they touched me first. >> Wait. >> As they cover, Alexia gets loud, demanding answers. But the officers stay calm and explain everything step by step. >> What are you doing? What are you doing? Good. >> So, like I said, I just want to figure everything out. So, go ahead and explain to you >> decided to come over here, grab her stuff, and I told her she'd go ahead, grab her stuff, whatever. >> And then she's going to read you something real quick. Just before you make any Just hold on one second. We're doing It's going to give us some make sure you understand your rights before you make any statements, right? >> I know you want you want to talk to us, but we got to >> look after I read this, you can talk to me. All right. >> Okay. Thank you. You have the right to remain silent and not answer any questions. Do you understand? >> Yep. >> Any statement you make must be freely and voluntary given. Do you understand? >> Yep. >> You have a right to the presence and representation of a lawyer of your choice before you make any statement during any questioning. Do you understand? >> If you cannot afford a lawyer, you're entitled to the presence of representation of a courtappointed lawyer before you make any statement during any questioning. Do you understand? >> If at any time during the interview you do not wish to answer my questions, you are privileged to remain silent. Do you understand? I can make no threats or promise to induce you to make a statement. This must be of your own free will. Do you understand? >> Any statement can be and will be used against you in the court of law. Do you understand? >> Go ahead and explain. >> So, all I'm going to say is they came to their apartment, my apartment. I paid rent here. They came here to grab their stuff cuz they were leaving. And then when they came here, they grabbed, gave their stuff, whatever. I asked them, "Hey, can we talk? Can we have a conversation about everything? What happened?" blah blah blah and they were like, "Oh, no, like we're going to I went downstairs. I had a conversation with them. I tried to have like, >> you know, a mature conversation with them, right?" >> And they told me, "Oh, no, no, no. We're not going to do that." And I was like, "Okay." >> Hey, so >> Alexia is clearly upset and keeps saying she's the real victim, but with video showing her hitting Maya, it's not exactly helping her case. >> Can you talk to me about what you did and honest with me about it and they told me, "Oh, you're not going to do that." >> And then I told them, "Whatever." And then they they started fighting me. Her girlfriends me. >> Where did they start fighting you at? >> They started fighting me right at the parking lot. >> In the parking lot. >> Her girlfriend started fighting me. And I told him, "What are you doing?" Whatever. And I was like, "Hey, your girlfriend called the cops on me >> and told me that I was doing this and I was doing that and I'm not talking to my boyfriend." >> So, can I ask you something really quick? After they went to the parking lot, why did you follow them there? >> I went to have a conversation with them because I told them that I wanted to have a conversation with them. That's it. >> And then when you went to when you were walking up to them, what happened? >> All I did was say, "Hey, I want to have a conversation with you." >> Right. >> All they want to do, hey, can I talk to you? >> Can you tell me what's going on? And then they told me that they were going to pack their stuff and leave. And I was like, "Okay, well, can I have a conversation with you about what you did before that?" And they said, "No, I don't want to talk to you." And I was like, "Okay." Then I tried to leave. >> You tried to leave and then what happened? >> And they told me they came up to me. Her girlfriend tried to fight me in the face. >> Her girlfriend punched me in the face. I fell to the floor. >> Gotcha. >> And then her other the other one, Maya, >> she came over to me and then she grabbed me. She pulled me up. She pulled she pulled me and she punched me in the face >> and was like, "Okay, I'm trying to have a conversation with you. I'm a truck." >> So, let me explain this to you really fast. Right. You know, there's cameras all around the building, right? >> Yes. And then she came and she hit me first. >> Okay. So, we saw everything. We saw you storming up to them, right? >> I came to have a conversation with her cuz I told her in my apartment that she lived in, >> "Hey, can I have a conversation with you before you leave?" >> Gotcha. >> I went downstairs to have a conversation with her. She came over to me and she said, "Hey, okay, I will have a conversation with you when you come downstairs." When I came downstairs, my other roommate Tamar was downstairs and I told her, "I'm going to have a conversation with you." >> Eventually, she admits to throwing the punch, saying it was because she felt betrayed. >> When I have a conversation with her, she literally started punching me in the face. Her girlfriend Leang sat there and pulled me to the side. >> All right. So, really quick before you keep going, we saw everything. She No one hit you first. You hit them first. It was It's clear as day, right? So, just wh why did you do that? because she sat there and stitched on me >> to my mother and saying that I was having a person in my apartment that I wasn't having in my apartment. >> Okay. >> And then she sat there and having like a police report and saying this to my mother. >> So that's why you hit her first. >> I mean I guess I mean she came over to me and saying all this to me saying that she was going to do this and this and that she was going to put me in in jail because I was talking to this person. I'm not talking to this person. >> All right. So based on everything, the whole thing, you're being under you're under arrest, right? >> I'm under arrest because she came into my apartment. >> Yes. >> She didn't hit you in your apartment. >> She came to my apartment. >> We're going to go to the police station. We're going to fill out paperwork and then we're going to go up to county jail. All right. >> That's [Music] Don't resist. >> What? What do you mean? >> You're under arrest. Count the battery. Okay. >> She came to my apartment. >> Count to get through. Do you have anything like a credit card or money that you want to bring with you to the county jail? >> Wait for for what? >> Listen. Do you have anything like your driver's license or your credit card to bring with you? If not, we're going to go as is. >> I just I tried. >> They don't know where your license or your credit card is or your phone is. >> We have the phone. >> Okay. So, do you know where your license is, Bab? >> My My license is in my car. >> Okay. And um your credit card as well? Your credit card? >> My credit card's in my apartment. Okay. Um, what do you what do you want to do with this? >> Wait, what? Get out of here. >> Still, her explanation doesn't change the outcome. She's arrested on two counts of battery. One for Maya and one for Leang. >> Stop. >> What do you mean I'm under arrest? What do you mean I'm under arrest? >> Listen, that's not what we're going to do. Okay. What do you mean I'm under arrest? >> She came over here and heard her girlfriend talking to me. What are you talking about? >> Are you serious right now? Are you serious? They tag team me. Let's walk with us. Okay. >> You're going to put me in tag team? They tag team me. Hey, what the [ __ ] is this? Are you serious right now? They have to enduse me? Are you serious? So, you're not going to say anything? The cops are not going to say anything to me? >> Oh, what? Oh, what? That's crazy. That's wild. [Music] I got to come down. Oh my god. This is insane. This is ridiculous. Because she beat my because she put her hands on me and you guys are going to put me under arrest. You guys are insane. Ready for me? Anything else? Rings. Got a ring back here. >> There's literally nothing on me. >> Do not do that. >> Stop resisting. here. >> What are you doing? >> After that, officers search her, take off her jewelry, and start the booking process for transport. >> The propertyy's going to go with you. It just has to come off you. >> What? What? Where am I going? >> County jail. >> For what? >> Two counts of battery. >> Don't do that. >> For two counts of battery. I didn't even touch the All right. Do >> you have any other jewelry other than your earrings? >> I have literally nothing. What are you doing? What are you doing? >> Sorry, the ring will slide underneath the bottom of the bag. I'll make sure you guys can find it. >> There's nothing on me. What are you doing? >> That's fine. >> Grab your earring off the other one. >> How do I do that? You want to do it? >> Okay. Like why? Why am I going to jail? >> I don't understand why I'm going to jail. Why is nobody telling me going? >> You're under arrest for two counts of battery. >> For two counts. What did I do? Please tell me what I did because she hit me first. Do we Do we not forget what she did? >> Open your mouth. >> Open your mouth. Open your mouth. Lift your tongue up. Perfect. You have no other jewelry on. Correct. >> No. >> All right. Watch out. >> What the going on? [Music] And just when you think it's over, it gets worse. On top of the battery charges, Alexia also gets hit with a third charge for having a fake ID. So, next time you think you're invincible in the school halls.
