Their scam was foolproof, or so they thought. Now the only thing they're running is out of options. Here are five cases when cops kick the out of manipulative scammers in the act. Number five, a simple bank deposit or a felony in disguise. A police officer verifies with a customer that a check has been stolen and altered. Originally made out to eagle-eye printing, the check has been fraudulently changed, prompting an immediate bank alert. Officers quickly locate the suspects inside the vehicle and move in fast, treating the situation as an inrogress felony. And so they alter the check. We verify that with our customer here and he says, "Yeah, that check has been stolen." That check was originally made out to Eagle Eye Printing and um they altered it. Altered it. Okay. Hey, put your hands up. Everybody put your hands up. Put the windows down. Let me see your hands while you put the windows down. Put it down. Passenger, from the outside, open the door. Driver, put your hands up. What's going on? Walk towards me. Stop right there. Turn around. What's going on? I'll tell you in a minute. Walk back towards me. Walk back towards me. Take four steps to your left. Yep. Hey, come over here and cuff. My daughter's in the car. What's going on? I'll explain it here in a second. I'm so confused. Yep. I'll explain it here in a second. Driver, do the same thing. Open the door from the outside. Keep your hands up and walk towards me. Can I take my key? Nope. Walk towards me. Got across in front of the vehicles. Come this way. Turn around for me. Walk backwards. Walk backwards. Stay right there. Put your palms together. There you go. I'll explain everything to y'all here in a second. I see her. Let me gather the rest of the information. It's all coming in third party from the tellers. So, from the people inside the tellers. So, when did you get that check? I'm not sure. Two days. Yeah. Wednesday. Wednesday. Night. Day. What time? I'm not sure. I know. I got it from somebody after Okay. We went to his house evening time for morning time. The passenger, the primary suspect, is asked about the check and struggles to give a clear answer. Officers aren't convinced. And you went to his house and did yard work and you got it from him, Mr. James, whoever that is. Okay. All right. Hey, question for you. Any narcotics inside the vehicle? No. At all? Okay. All right. All right. Sit tight. This is the check they tried to cash. She So they she handed her her ID. I'll add both of them to the car. No. No. This is the That's the complaintant right there. So they got they received this check. It was altered. It was made out to Eagle Eye. Eagle Eye Press for that amount right there. So they altered the check right there. Yep. And she wrote her name on. Wow. Which one's the code? She also in my car or your car? My car. She also asked for a social from her. Don't know what social go find out real quick. So I'll let y'all dig into that. So Driver, we don't have anything on Driver. Nothing on Driver. It's Miss Johnson here. So So they apparently came in about a week ago tried to cash another check from for a different bank. Both of them. Well, or the they denied them service because they don't have an account here. They said, "You want to cash this bank check and you got to go to your bank." Would you still like to talk to that? Sure. Okay. So, hey, like I get it. Big scary. I pull up, block the front of your car with my blue lights on, and get out with a gun. Big and scary. So, backtory is bank calls. The check that your passenger was trying to cash is altered and stolen. Yep. So, that's that's why it responds the way it did cuz it's it's an inrogress felony. So, if I not saying this would have happened, but I didn't want to pull up behind you and then you throw it in drive and take me on a long lengthy pursuit and then could have been worse for everybody else. We didn't know it was a storm. Yeah. So, you might not have known. I don't believe her. Well, she said, "Well, she got it from Mr. Dobbins, who I know personally to traffic and use narcotics and steal stuff." James Dobbins. He lives down the street from y'all in Wilson. He used to live right here on Minor right across from like the airport. The officer explains the consequences of possessing a forged or altered check. As more information comes in, officers confirm that the check has been reported stolen by the issuing company. So, she is going at a minimum for being in possession of altered check, altered or forged check, cuz I can tell where she wrote her name over the whoever that name was cut to. And I just spoke to the boss man at the company that wrote that check and it's not to her. So, she's going to jail at a minimum. I don't have anything on you. So, I'm about to pull you out and put put you in uh take handcuffs out of you. Whose child is that? Is that hers? Well, it's ours, but Okay. So, both of y'all have legal custody or legal rights to him. Okay. All right. If you'll hop out for me. Could I talk to her? What do you want to work on here? If you'll lean forward at the waist for me. All right. I'll be uh So, I'm a guy that's like super straight at a point. So, what's the deal with this check? Well, it doesn't belong to you. That's what somebody gave me. So the dude that the bank talked to at this company is is just lying full. Then I can show you the address. I can take you where I got that check from. Okay. Cuz this check is reported stolen. Yeah. That's why we're here. So like we get calls on stuff because like of certain stuff going like if you were just randomly cashing a check, we wouldn't show up like this. You cash your check and you go along your way, right? But this is the bank that this check was written from or for the accounts at this bank. Please go to the place where I got it from. Well, so the person who wrote this check has reported this check being stolen and we have numerous cases. Where do you live at? Off minor still with McCormack. So we have like five or six ongoing cases right now of auto breakins and mail thefts that are right in that general area. You see where this is kind of you're saying you got it for this, but all the evidence that I have here is showing otherwise, right? Like I have there's like four or five open cases for stolen mail. There's like two or three auto breakins in that same area. And now you're here at a bank trying to cash a check that's been reported stolen. And it's forged. See, I can see where y'all The writing on it has been clearly altered with the suspect's name written over the original payes. I didn't write that. Well, that's your name on it, right? And you're saying you took this, right? Okay. So, all of this has been written over at least once cuz I can see where it doesn't line up. Like that was a capital F and now it's a lowercase F and you've written over this part. I didn't write over. Well, you're in possession of it, right? And you're trying to cash it in possession. So, being in possession of a forge or alter check is a felony in the state of Florida. So, I'm going You could go to jail today. So, where do we get this check from? Be honest with me. I'm being honest cuz honesty goes a long way, right? So, if you're honest with me, I might be able to make some phone calls with some detectives. We might try to work something out, please. But you got to be honest with me right now. I don't think you're being honest with me. Okay. I don't care if you think I'm not being honest. I am being honest with you. Okay. Well, I'll come talk to you here in a minute. Think about our conversation. Okay. She's lying. Um, if you want to go check on the kid, I will work on maybe once we transfer her to a different car, putting the window down and letting y'all talk real quick. Um, it won't be face to face just for everything. Question. Do you know how she got the check? Were you there? I remember it being handed to her. That's all. When? Um, like a few days ago. Do you know a day? Thursday, Wednesday. Being handed to her or where at? Um, we went Well, I can't really remember. At the yard in the front of our yard. Okay. What was the check for? Do you remember? No. I guess she went to go do something in her yard or something. Okay. All right. Do you know what the guy looked like to hand it to her? You seen you seen it being handed to her? But do you know what he looks like? I handed it to her, but I was waiting. What time of day do you go get Did y'all go get this check? Um, it was like evening Sunday. So like 5:30, 6 evening. I was on I was on the porch with Okay. But y'all went y'all went to this person's house and got this check. They they came up to us. They came up to your house, but they they stayed like Meanwhile, the suspect's story keeps changing, making officers even more skeptical. She insists that someone handed her the check as payment for yard work, but cannot provide consistent details. Even if it's an off day, I can they they pay me overtime to talk to people. So, if you if you're sitting there like, "Hey, I remember who this guy was." And you gave me a phone call, it would help out like tremendously. Okay. So, yeah. If you want to go check on that kid, we'll work on letting y'all talk real quick. So, the stories sort of match up a little bit. Um she's told the same story like she was doing yard work in for a guy's yard. Yeah. Which she's still going for. Yeah. Yeah. Possession. But that's why I asked her. I was like, "How did the check happen?" because it is possible now hearing this James Dawkins guy could have stole it. Well, I just talked to the the dude here. He was up here like 30 minutes ago putting a hold or void on that check cuz uh he walked he said there's a $5,000 check that was stolen too out of the mailbox. So yeah, but no, she said guy paid her. You say guy paid her. I wonder if that James guy could have stolen it and and he's handing it off. Oh, you did work for me, but I'm going to pay you somebody else's check. Yeah, but that's probably what it is. She only she only remembered James. She didn't remember last name. She only remembered James. Yeah, there's only not even I only worked zone the old zone 7 for I don't know 5 years. That's what I worked before I made. You take you taking her? Yeah, I'll take her. It's easy. All right. Deputy's going to talk to you. You are going to jail today for possession of a $4 check. Okay. I talked to the victim, the guy that written that check and it was not written. It was stolen out of Yer. Do you know anything about a $5,000 check? That was also He just told me that was stolen out of his box and he's put a hold on that. So, do you know any information about Check that lower back? Officers move forward with the arrest charging the suspect with uttering a false bank note and possessing a forged bank check. The driver having no direct involvement is released. Number four. Frauditor's stunt ends quickly. Arrested in less than 21 seconds. A fraudster walks into a government building. Camera rolling thinking he's about to make a scene. Within seconds, officers step in, tell him to stop filming, and give him a choice. Turn it off. Relieve. Here's what happens next. your video recording. They told you we told you before, Mr. Lawler. I'm allowed to official. I got another one, too. Well, I mean, I can write a check. Yeah. He tried to tell you before. You can't record. He's trying to be. Okay. Thank you. So I don't Is all that taken care of now? Okay. Email me or mail it to me. Okay. Thank you. Okay. The officers don't waste time. The suspect barely has time to react before he's being escorted out of the building. What do you want me? So, what are you asking me for? Trespassing. You have to give me warning. Yeah, I just told you you want to turn it off. Where do you want me to go? Yes, sir. Y the exit sign right here. GoPro, stop recording. Which way? Where do you want me? We want to go out. I guess I'll put him in my vehicle or you want to put in or somebody. Sorry. Who told you to arrest me? We've told you before when you're in here, you can't record. Well, I have the right to record my interaction. No. No. Document it. you. Once outside, officers search him and begin processing his arrest. He tries to argue that he has a First Amendment right to film, but his claims don't hold up. I'm doing a story on the the arrest I got from the court paperwork. No, that doesn't count. Dude, I'm not here to hurt anybody. I never said you were, Mr. Low. So, why am I even arrested? I told you for trespassing. You cannot You have the official witness, but you can't record. You've been told that numerous times. Um, so you saying I'm permanently trespassed from the courthouse or like I'm I'm I'm sorry. I'm just confused. I don't understand. I'm not I'm not answering my own questions. Should you want me to You want to I can take him in my vehicle. Okay. You want to pull in? Yeah, that's fine. You want me to walk outside? It don't matter. Um, how's the sally port there? Is it slick? Okay. Um, let me just grab my let me get the vehicle keys. No, it should be. All right, we're going to go through the big door. Now we're just going to bear to left here. You got to go where he's hang tight here cuz I got to search him. Okay. What else you have on you? Uh battery. Um insert a cord ID. Okay. Um that's pretty much it. Nothing. What do you What do you have in this pocket? Um, it's either a battery and I think that's a battery and a charging cord for my phone. Maybe 4K too. The battery. Okay. Instead of acknowledging his mistake, he keeps trying to twist the situation, hoping to talk his way out of it. At least it warmed up, right? Yeah, they won't let you take this in. I guess it's just What's in here? Business cards and the calculator. No. Um, they're not going to let you take the lighter in there. Okay. You going to put it in my uh um here. Can you grab these? Put those with them, too. Thanks, man. I'm not trying to be difficult, Mr. Not either. I'm just trying to prove a point, man. I I'm allowed to film in these buildings. I'm allowed to film. We gave you all that paper. Don't you let that paperwork see you? Have you read through it, man? As he's placed in the patrol car, he continues asking why he's being arrested. My right paperwork. Do you have anything else? Not that no. Here's your ID. That's fine. Did someone tell you that? You got anything in these boots? No. You have anything that you're hiding? Okay. What did he say? He was just going to say call the jail just to let him know. I'm not going to sight and release me. You're just going to take me to jail or what? Um, what do we all have? The GoPro. There's GoPro. Cell phone. Is this is this court paperwork? Battery battery cable. Cable paper. You got my phone, right? Yes, sir. Where do you want me at? Are you going to um Are you just going to take them over? Okay. And so I don't know what they doing on the mist. Do you know? Mhm. Okay. Um, you guys not going to cite me and release me or I mean is this all really necessary, bro? I mean, you know what I'm doing. I'm not out to hurt people. I'm a journalist, man. Yeah, I know. I'm just trying to do a story. I know. I mean, yeah. Over there by this vehicle. Tell me where you want me to go, man. I'm not a threat. I'm not going to try to resist or anything. I'm a peaceful guy. I never said you were. I'm peaceful out here. Yes, sir. How do you guys do this every day? This wind is crazy. There's not a lot of room in here. Watch your head. I'm a fat guy, so you might have to push me a little bit. Easy. Watch your head. Watch your head. The officers handled the situation quickly, making it clear that they're not going to entertain his antics. All right. All right. All right. Do you know how long I'll be in the jail for? Is this sight release or what? Right. I mean, can you scoot my way a little bit? Your way? Yeah. bag. Sorry. The um the officers aren't playing games and he ends up exactly where he belongs. Number three, frauditor's felony level mistake ends an arrest. A frauditor stands outside a restaurant holding a sign claiming he's exercising his rights. restaurant staff call the police, reporting that he's harassing customers. Officers arrive and inform him that the business wants him trespassed. Here's what happens next. The Funky Pelican is another business that thinks they own the public sidewalk. You seem to have an issue with me standing on the public sidewalk saying, "God bless the homeless veterans." No, I actually don't have an issue with that at all. Can I see what your sign says? No, you don't need to see what my sign says. Okay, that's fine. That's fine. You seem to It's like you got an issue with it. You're coming out here with a sign saying don't give him money. You're acting like I don't have a job. See, the thing is you don't understand. All I'm doing is saying God bless the homeless veterans on public property. And what I'm saying is I'm a veteran also and I don't understand why you're doing it in front of this business. Cuz I feel like it because I served the military. I swore an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution and I have a right to do it right in front of this business or anywhere on this public sidewalk. Yes, you do. And I have heard that the funky pelican runs homeless people off when they come out here with signs. Oh, really? Yeah, I've heard that. Is that true? Hi. Um I have a gentleman um outside of um our restaurant at Funky Pelican has like a homeless man um sign and um I just like him uh trespass. Flaggler Beach. Funky Pelican. Okay. Okay. And what is he doing? He's harassing all of our guests and he's standing out front. Do you know what the sign says? A a homeless vet. And he's still outside now. Yes. Do you want him trespassed? Do you guys? Yeah, I do. Okay. Okay. We'll have a unit come by. Okay. The officers explained that the boardwalk area is not completely public and can be restricted. Instead of complying, he argues, trying to challenge the officer's authority. What's going on, man? Not much. How are you? Doing good. What's going on today? I'm just out here spreading the message, man. All right. Well, they want you trespass from here. They can't trespass me from here. They can trespass you from here. They can't. Why is that? Uh, trespass me specifically. Where? In front of the funk a funky pel from the funky funky pelican. and Jack can trespass you from this entire boardwalk area. Okay, go ahead and do it. I won't leave and arrest, but I'd rather you not. You can't trespass me from the sidewalk. All right, so you're officer L U T R E L. You got an ID on you? I do, and I'm not giving it to you. He blatantly ignores the officer's commands and refuses to provide identification. Despite being given multiple chances to move to another location, he stands his ground and refuses to budge. Why is that? Uh I don't give my I don't feel comfortable giving my personal information to strangers. Well, seeing that I'm not just a stranger and I'm actually doing an investigation now because there was been accusations of you harassing somebody. So, have you seen me harass anybody? I'm just telling you when I came to the call. You got you got hearay is all you got. So do an investigation and see what you see what I'm doing. He does not want to leave. Got that. Yeah. He said we can't trespass him and he won't give me his ID. So he's like running on our top. Just move over there. So you guys I don't really want to trespass. You just want to Well, I mean I mean stand right there. Okay. So I can trespass from the monkey bell again and then I mean the crosswalk go down there where there's not business coming in coming out this heavy traffic flow area. Okay. All right. No, I got you. I mean, what he's doing is technically there's no it's not breaking a laws, but I'll try to try to get another try to get Will he finally comply this time? Let's find out. All right, man. So, what we can do is trespass you from the funky pelican. And the only thing they're asking is to just move down one way or the other. Simple request. I got you. I'd rather not. I spread the message message right here where I was. Okay. Traffic people coming across the crosswalk and lots of traffic through here. That's all. Okay. So, if you stood over there, that's going to not spread your message. Uh, I'd just prefer to stand here. Okay. You don't have a name. You don't have anything. My name is Jeff. Jeff. Okay. Last name? I'd rather not get my last name. Okay. [Music] So, how you doing? I'm good, man. How are you? Good. Let me see the back of your sign. Okay. Okay. So, doesn't want to give ID. Said we can't trespass him from here. He's going to get trespassed verbally from uh Funky Pelican. So, they're trespassing me from in there. Yes. And actually, we can trespass from here. We can they can we can they can give it. Okay. So, trespass me from here. I will not leave and you can take me to jail if you want to. I already have that. You cannot trespass me. With no other options left, the officers take action. Because I know that you own your name, you have intentions. All right. Why would you think that you can trespass me? Because this is our boardwalk in our field. It's public property, right? Yeah. All right. And we can trespass. Well, if you're dumb, would you think that? All right. Don't be Why you getting so nervous that you're twitching? Okay. So, let me let me just explain it to you. Okay. So, we're going to ask you to leave. Okay. From here, if you don't leave, I'm not leaving. Okay. I refuse to leave. So, you're refusing to leave. I am refusing to leave. Okay. All right. Let's get Doesn't have to be. I know. Get my sign. That's my property. Yeah, we'll get it. Have a double cup. Yeah, we will. All you had to do was move down one way or the other. 50 ft. 25 ft. That's it. I could be here. Let's go. All right. Get my uh my my camera that's over there. Go get it. Come on. It's over there. Come on. Grab my camera from here, too, please. This one right here. Okay. I might want to search for you. Get my gun out of my pocket before you put me in the back seat. Yeah, that's forget, sir. You have anything else on you? You going to poke me, stick your question? I thought my pocket. Unbelievable. Did you guys still do like this? Yep. [Music] Who's the supervisor? You're looking at him. That's me. Where's your gun? I got I got another drunk tighten these cuffs real quick. Lock them so they don't pinch up on it. All right. Well, I'll adjust it real quick. What started as a simple trespassing issue now turns into a felony charge for carrying a weapon while trespassing. Officer Dum. Supervisor Dum. Yeah, man. That's you right there. Supervisor. Yeah. Freedom of speech on public property. Yeah. Yeah. Let me guess. You're going to sue me, take me to court, have me arrest him, have me fire, the whole nine yards. Ain't you? You do realize we do this every day. We're saying our first trip, right? my camera over there by the uh gas thing right there on the uh you serious freaking actually doing this. All you had All you had to do All you had to do is respect my civil rights. Have a seat. All you had to do is respect my civil rights. Have a seat. And I ask you this your last chance to let me go. Have a seat. Have a seat, please. You're violating my rights. Can you please not violate my rights? Have a seat. You know, you know you're violating your rights. Third one. You don't see. Okay. All you do is give us your ID so we can trespass you from the monkey pal again. We'd be moving on. I can't sit back here, man. You're going to have to ow. God. Despite his efforts to manipulate the situation, he's now facing a much more serious offense. 1065 a number on a signal zero on a Smith and Wesson. Go ahead. Echo Hotel Mike 4525 Smith and Wesson bodyguard. So once you get there, you trespass. Hey, now we just hooked the guy for trespassing. Instead of proving a point, he ends up facing felony charges. learning the hard way that playing games with law enforcement never ends well. Number one, undercover cops take down trio running a bizarre salad scam. A restaurant manager receives a complaint about a rock found in a salad. A woman claims she cracked her tooth and now needs $9,000 for dental treatment. Instead of falling for the scam, the restaurant takes a stand and calls the police, who quickly set up a sting operation. They called the manager after they ordered the entree. They called the manager over. One of the lady was holding a napkin on a tooth. Say that she cracked her, she believes that she cracked her tooth uh chewing on a rock in her salad. Okay. She showed us the rock, a small black rock. Although very uncommon to have a rock in a salad. That has never happened to us. Um they called us back on Monday. So on Monday, it was my new general manager, Heather, that answered the phone. She spoke to her over the phone and we got an invoice yesterday uh for I forgot the right amount but between8 $9,000 between 8 and $9,000. As soon as I open it, I see the the large amount. So, I decided to call my sorry to email my insurance uh agent. As soon as I sent him the email with what happened, he called me and told me that uh he has been hearing about this scam all all over Florida and multiple of his customers that he had to deal with. So he he basically said that uh and she says that it was her letter head, it was her address, it was her phone number. Oh, sorry, the dentist's phone number. Uh but it was a fake invoice. And then she confirmed that Elaine Sanders was not one of her patients. If you saw uh any of these four people again, would you be able to recognize them by her face? Most definitely. Most definitely. Were you this close interacting if not closer? Not close. Very close. Yeah. Like I said, the the female that spoke the most was very close. Like literally almost like it's okay, you know, don't worry about it. Bryce and Heather are off today and I I'm here by myself. Okay. Playing along, the restaurant agrees to meet with the scammers to settle the claim. Meanwhile, officers prepare for the setup, contact the scammers, and wait for them to take the bait. So, what is it that you are looking for? I I just want, you know, this work to be done for my treatment plan. I don't have no dental insurance and uh the treatment plan is like 87.50. It need There's a lot of work that needs to be done. It's it it's it's $8,700 of work that needs to be done due to this. And I've sent over my my, you know, my record, my dental note. Is there was that a quote or or did you already receive the work? No, I did not receive the work. That was a quote from my dentist. So, I I really want to remediate this. Would you be open to to to meeting and I could either write you a check or, you know, give you some cash? Maybe not, you know, the full amount right now because it would have to come out of, you know, What do you think is fair? I mean, how how much was it was? 8700 was the proposal. It was 87, I think. 75. Would you be able to meet uh you know, tomorrow in person tomorrow? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Is there any way that we can handle this through through the phone? I mean, well, I would I would prefer to do cash just be, you know, you know how audits are and stuff. I really don't want questions coming. Stand up. Stand up. Ah. Oh my god. Stand up. What's going on? You're just going to be detective. Is this your phone? Because we can look for weapons or evidence on the ground. Okay. You don't have a He don't have a police outfit. I'm What? Why are you looking and holding like this? Oh, okay. All right. What is your name? I'm just worried about her cuz she was shaky in a car. Good. I know. Hello. Hi. How are you today? Good. How are you? What's your name? My name is Sheila. Sheila? Yes. How can I help you? All right. Give me one second. I'll be right back. Okay. And Kevin came on board. Is this your pler ma'am? Excuse me. Are you handicapped? Yeah. My my friend is my aunt's with her that's inside. She has an injury in her leg. Officers waste no time and take control before the scammers even realize what's happening. They separate them and start asking questions. But this is not my car. This is a friend of mine's car. Is this Elaine's car or someone else's car? This is Elaine's aunt. She's inside. So in there with the aunt. This is aunt's car. Yeah. Okay. What's going on? We're figuring it out. So you're fine. You're not handcuffed. Just cooperate with us and you'll be good. I just I'm just a friend of Elaine. She asked me to drive her down. So Okay. I mean, I came with I came with That's probably what they're going to talk to you about, but Okay. She just asked you to come up and do a favor for her. Like, hey, come up. I She just They wanted me to come drive with them down here. That's not But they wanted you to drive her aunt's car. Yeah. Well, she my aunt was driving, but I sit in the car cuz I didn't feel too good. I had a sinus cold and they said they were supposed to go inside and handle something when some something happened to her tooth or some kind of injury. Okay. But I'm sitting in the car. Okay. And they said, "Wait till we come out." I don't really think that you're involved. So, I'm not going to read you your rights. All right. I just want to really know how did you get here today? What do you know? All I know was she's not I call her my niece. I raised her. She's not we're not but we grew up close family whatever. All she told me was the other she came here and ate about a week ago and she been into something. She heard her tooth. That's what I know. And she went to the dentist and she said she didn't work. So she told me that when she went to dentist, she had a treatment plan she had worked out. She has no insurance. I said, "All right, maybe it's nothing." You know, somebody in there. So she said, "Thank you." I said, "Okay." She said that the owner called, they were supposed to give it to an insurance company. She told me what happened. She tells me, you know, what what occurred. So um she said I asked her what happened and she followed up and went to dentist. You want me to stick around? You guys are good for now. One of them says she was just along for the ride. Another stumbles over her words. You're friends with Elaine. Yeah. Okay. How long you guys been friends? For about a few years from, you know, we just know each other. Good friends. Casual. Not really good good friends, but I know her for a few years. Enough to come up here and see her today. Yeah, of course. I mean, she told me that she had an injury here, that she had something something was in her salad. Okay. She said she she was meeting the manager. they was coming to some sort of deal. So, I went with them, her, you know, her and her aunt. And but did they ask you like that they needed your help with something or No, they just said, you know, come along with us, hang out with us after and then that was it. So, I said, I'm going to stay in the car. I don't want to get involved. What's going on? Whatever they're doing. Got it. You know, I said I'll stay in the car. I'll get in the driver's seat. My daughter went with her. I think somebody went with her. Summer. I don't know if it was. And she's like close family, right? Yeah. What is her name? What's her real name? Who? The one with the ponytail. Because her name is Annie. Annie. Annie. I know her as El because that's the fake name she Okay. So, the people that we love, we look we look out for them, right? So, the quickest way to a resolution is honestly, right? So, her name is what again? Annie. Annie. Do you know Annie's last name being that you personally know her? This is what I know of the deal. I know she told me she went to the dentist. She had to have work done. She has no insurance. So, it's like she tells me everything. So then she said her friend or whoever went with her couldn't pick her up to come here cuz the person I said well why would they offer you cash you know that doesn't sound like why would they offer you I'm sure they have insurance or something or maybe you know we just so you thought it sounded weird right so kind of it didn't sound right so so and I apologize her name one more time Mary okay you get here because they asked you for a ride because whoever could bring she wasn't feeling good She has sugar. I didn't want her to die by herself. Was it just Annie who kind of come or cuz before you said it may have been your daughter that was with her last Friday? Yeah, both of Well, I want to be very I'm very much just interested in Annie right now. All right. So, that's your car out there, correct? Yeah, that's my car. Their stories don't match and officers quickly pick apart their lies. Do you know if your daughter came with her last Friday or not? Because that sort of is going to change how I'm going to talk to your daughter back at the station based off your I don't know if my daughter came with her or not. I'm going to be honest with you. It could have been one of her other friends or my normal. Do you know anyone named Stacy? Your only involvement is driving them here to Yeah. I mean, I didn't know. I know. I said, "It doesn't sound raining and you don't feel good. So, let me take you." Yeah. So, and then the other person, whoever, if it was her friend or if it was, you know, who's the person in the car, though? That's my daughter. Your daughter? What's her name? Sheila. Sheila. Sheila. Oh, that's your daughter. She do you know Annie's last name or do I have to like fingerprint her and do all that? No, she goes there. Her mother's in Miller. Miller. She might go by Miller. Miller. Yeah, she used to go. Do you know father then? No, we just we grew up together. All right. Um, so she Yeah, go ahead. Absolutely. Okay. So, when she was talking about her tooth injury or mouth surgery or whatever, I mean, I would be like, "Let me see, you know, or let me see pictures." I believe her. She went to the dentist and she had a, you know, right? But then did she show you any any on her mouth or pictures or pictures? Be like, "Look what happened at the store." Okay. Okay. She told me it was just hurting her really bad. I told you. And you didn't you didn't ask like, "Oh my god, that's crazy that happened." I did, but I didn't ask for photos or anything. I took her. Right. I'm saying I didn't know if she volunteered to send you pictures like Okay. So, there was no picture. And you didn't ask to see it today? Like, let me see what they I don't think you know it's in the back. She said I didn't want her to open her mouth and show me and she was bothering her. So I didn't have to look in it. Yeah. I mean I I would but that's I wouldn't do that to somebody. Okay. So you just believed her. You didn't ask like let me look and see. No. I missed a lot of it. I'm sorry. I live in the Hollywood area. Hollywood. So you live in Hollywood and you picked her up in Carl's friends. Okay. But do you know her well? Like how? Yeah. She she we're like family, you know. You're like family. Yeah. So I mean I picked her up. I I told her I'll help her out. The officers aren't buying any of it. They've seen scams like this before and it's crystal clear that these women have been playing them all along. Oh, so you I wasn't doing anything. Well, you know, I had to just go for a little appointment this morning. My doctor has to do surgery Monday. So, I said, "All right, from there." She got you involved in something. Everything that you're saying, well, we have to follow up with it. But your daughter, your daughter, she's not in handcuffs. I'm sorry. Your daughter's not in handcuffs. Okay. She's fine. We're kind of talking to her like we're we already put both aside just to go for the ride. You know, we're that's what we're we're how we're talking to you. Finding figure out some basic things like how old do you know her? What? We're saying the same thing to your daughter. She's fine. She's not handcuffed. We're talking to her just like we are to you. Okay. She's been in and out of the hospital. The doctors going to her doctor appointments and stuff as she's trying to get her. Yeah. If you were like family, I mean, you would know if she has a job or not. Especially on a car ride to West Palm. You would talk about I don't mind going for a ride. It doesn't matter. But I mean, you're all in a car, you would talk, right? Like, how's work? Did you find a job? Did you We always put the radio on and we real. I mean, normally it's in the back. If they're cool with it being in the front, I mean, you can ask them. That's up to them. I I don't Are you guys cool with it being in the front? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Cuz I don't care. I don't care. [Music] Yes. Yeah, they did. I'll cut you down. You could do it at the beginning. I don't want to die. You just got to double check these two. Um, no. I We have her phone so I don't know if you want. And she said she My phone. My granddaughter is by herself and I just told her I was also 16 but you know I kind of but she was communicating with Anna with phone and text about coming here for the tooth injury so but not on I have another phone my work phone not on that phone I have a work phone I don't have they thought they could pull a fast one on the restaurant but instead they end up in cups the sting operation works perfectly shutting down another manipulative scam before it could go any further Uh, I don't have my wife. I don't need I'll get him on on this side so we can give her a call back, right? Yeah. So, you don't need her phone? I don't need her. Okay. I just wanted to check. So, cool. All right. So, um, can I get your your number as well because what I'm going to offer to you is if you want to wait at the station to see what the outcome is because I'm sure if they leave or if they go to jail, I'll just let you know. Do I go under the seat belt or do you sit right down normal as you would normal and I'll buckle you in. Okay. Yeah. Wait, no. The sweater's long enough. Thank you. That's a cute little throw down. When you want to tell us the truth. So now you can talk. He's a nice guy. I'm not. So if you want to tell us the truth, we'll talk to you. But that's not your bag. So he he'll he'll talk to you. my bag right here. But there was another bag in here. I told you it was hers and we took it. Oh, okay. All right. My bags, right? Oh, maybe that you did take her bag. Maybe my bag I could cuz I went home. The trio was charged with uttering a forgery and grand theft. Game over. The scammers tried to play the system, but the cops played them instead.
