Some people go on vacation to relax. Others go to test law enforcement's patience. Here are five cases when cops take down spoiled bratty Karens on vacation. Number five, Karen tries to run the flight and fails miserably. Deputies respond to Puntaorta Airport in Florida following reports of a disruptive couple who had been drinking and allegedly made threats during a flight. Let's take a look at what happens next. Hey um passenger 31 A and B um they were served each of them were served as double um they appear to be intoxicated by flight attendants saying that they were going to be in the parking lot and arrest another passenger reported it off um so they're intoxicated they intoxication all right so here's the deal we may depend on their level of intoxication they may go ahead arrested for disorderly intoxication. We just going to need a quick statement from somebody. All of us will just make sure we get we're going to need the statement. Okay. 31 a.m. Charlie is not with I don't like you, too. Yes, sir. You're an A. This one and you. Let's go. Move out the way, please. Get up and get out. We got to talk. All righty. on me. Oh. Oh, let's go. I'm I'm going. Yep. law enforcement meets the pair outside the aircraft and confronts them about the issue. What? So, here's the deal. I I really am. First of all, we got a we got a call from the flight captain saying you two are causing disturbance. You got cut off, I guess, drinking or whatever. And somebody made I'm talking. I'm sorry. Don't interrupt me again. Okay. I'm sorry. So you two are causing disturbance. You've been drinking and someone made some threats about taking care of some flight attendant out in the parking lot. Yep. They're willing to swear a statement on it. So stand against the fence. Stand against the fence. We're going to conduct some business. As long as you act like a gentleman, you can treat it like one. If you give me or my deputies any problems, you're going to have a bad night. No problem. All right. No problem at all. I'm trying to figure out why. Well, because you guys are drunk. No, yeah, you're drunk. I can smell it. I'm not Oh, we've been drinking. I can tell. That is not It's obvious you've been drinking. I can smell it. Yeah, drink on the plane, but Yeah. Yeah, I know you did. It filled me in. Apparently, you didn't like the way some things were handled by the flight crew and you guys said stuff you shouldn't. No problem whatsoever. Well, you know what? I I'm just going to say the only thing that I save it. It is what it is. You can't when it comes to flights, there's no tolerance. We're apparently wrong. So, there's no tolerance on flights. It's too dangerous. Can't you can't act a certain way and make threats. So, I know we Well, somebody did. It's okay. Somebody's accusing us. Some Just shut your mouth. It's our fault. Okay. Anybody here been in trouble before? And nobody's on any kind of probation or anything like that, right? No, I'm a car driver. Okay. That don't mean you're not on probation. I know truck drivers are on probation. Yeah. No. So, all right. I know I should be, but Yeah. Deputies speak to both individuals and confirm with flight crew that the couple had been drinking on board, having requested and consumed double alcoholic drinks. Bottom line is when we get called it it's not a good thing. But I shut up. So So get some we're going to get with the flight crew once they get all your body off the plane. Apparently they were drinking on the plane. They got cut off basically and it's talking and another pastor even mentioned it and that they were threatening to beat the flight attendants out in the parking lot. Okay. So I'm I'm going to hook them for this talks. They're going to go to jail today. So, but I'm going to get the statements from them first, but they definitely want to pursue it. So So can you tell me exactly what uh what occurred here today? Oh, it did. Uh, we had two passengers who had boarded. Do you remember what time that boarding was? Uh, Connor, what time boarding up there? Um, I can look online. Okay. So, you had boarded and then what happened? Passengers boarded. Um, when they came on, we observed that they were loud a little bit, but they were friendly. We were communicating. um kind of making some jokes, getting everybody seated and everything was fine. Okay, we went to serve our snack and beverage service, which is usually about 30 minutes into the flight. Um they were a little loud and as we served them beverages, they requested doubles. We served them to them. We had not observed any slurring, anything that all four of us didn't recognize anything that they were inebriated. Okay. So they in your opinion they were sober when they walked in? Yep. I was not agreeing with everybody here. We didn't notice any alcoholic behavior or anything. No, nobody observed anything. So we did serve them doubles. Um after we passed them and we were about three or four rows ahead. Initially the couple did not display signs of intoxication and the drinks were served without concern. As the flight continued, the woman became loud and began using inappropriate language, disturbing passengers around her. Um, after we passed them and we were about three or four rows ahead, the woman seated in a and I don't her name is in here, she was cursing and I politely walked back and kind of quietly addressed her and said, "If you could just please not curse and just kind of keep your voices down." and other passengers were eyeing us and asking us to speak with them. So I just did that. Why was she cursing? Do you know? She was using the words and and it was in general or talking to the husband. Um just outward. They were talking to each other but they were very loud with it and it was disturbing other passengers. Okay. So I just asked them to please just you know tone down the volume and to please not curse. other passengers were disturbed. And apparently after that, we went on and completed our service. And then once we got back to the uh back galley area, I had a passenger come back and inform me that she had made a verbal threat that she was going to find me after the flight and she was going to take me out. And who did she say that to? Did she say that to you or just in general? She was talking with the husband. I assume is her husband seated next to her and it was quite loud and the passenger seated in Charlie which is the aisle seat in front of her came back and informed us that she had made the threat and she was going to do what to you after I believe what she said was she was going to take me out. She was going to find me after the flight and take me out. Okay. And that was a statement from passenger A. Correct. from uh the one that was 31 alpha. Okay, she said that. And who was who was that passenger sitting that told you that? She was sitting in 30 Charlie and I have her name and phone number. 30 Charlie. The flight attendant goes on to explain how the situation escalated. And her name is and then then what happened? How'd that happen? Um then at that point we just became aware and we started listening and she was you know she was getting very aggressive making faces at people and to our staff and she was talking loudly looking for me. Where is she? Where did she go? Um just continual those types of statements like not letting it go. She was just getting more aggressive. They were talking loudly. Other passengers again were observing it. So, I continued to just kind of stay in the back and, you know, not bring any, you know, not poke the bear, so to speak. Did she make any threats to you directly or was it just being mousy any of that? I did not hear anything directly to me again because I stayed in the back not to further amplify the situation. Did Did any of the other passengers complain? Did anybody else say anything other than that one lady in 3C that that overheard that comment? I feel like everyone was in agreeance though with it. It's not like I feel like everyone was in agreeance with it. It's not like what passengers said, but it's the eye the eye contact as we walk by and them looking at them. It's the silent communication that we received. Okay. They basically gave you the evil eye just to try and get our attention to get the other passengers to um boarding started in Louisville at 7:30 p.m. Whenever you're finished with her statement, we'll go inside to get her. After hearing her account, officers turned to the couple to get their side of the story. All right, Stephanie. So, we talked to all the flight attendant and tried to figure out what goes on. I would like to know what went on to because I really don't know. You don't know what happened. I was told at one point that uh I was to watch your mouth. I am naturally loud. I am really naturally loud. And I was told to watch my mouth and I said, "Yes, ma'am." And I didn't say anything the rest of the flight. I just looked out the window. Well, apparently it was several of the passengers that were disturbed by what you were doing, what you were saying. Apparently, you uttered a a threat to what? Again, sir, can you stand up for a second for me? Uh, yeah. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Come over here. Turn around. So, the charge is going to be disorientally intoxication. So, you're going to have to go you're going to have to go to jail tonight. You're not going to go to jail, but she is. What did I say? Give me Thank you. I am, but you don't you don't remember. No, I they they only served you one double drink. You can't be that intoxicated from just one one double drink. So, you probably came on the plane already intoxicated, didn't you? For the booking process. It got a little out of hand. That's all it is. So, it's you're going in for public intoxly into talks and that's it. I know it's not. So, uh what it what what's going to happen to me? I'll take you down to jail. drop you off. Okay, we'll talk to the all morning and uh and what about my husband? He's fine. I'm coming to get you. So, okay. You ready? I'm going straight to booking down here and stuff. That's my I have all that. Thank you. Y I appreciate Given the threat and disruption caused mid-flight, particularly the mention of post-flight retaliation, the woman is arrested for disorderly conduct and intoxication. She's taken to jail while her partner is released. Number four, officer's mom thinks DUI laws don't apply on vacation. A traffic stop escalates into dual arrests after police pull over a rental vehicle swerving without headlights. Here's what happens next. Sergeant Connley with the Key West Police. There's two reasons I'm stopping you. No lights. Okay, there's one. Sorry. The other You almost hit the curb and then you almost went into the left lane. Is there any legal reason for that? Absolutely not. Okay. License, registration, and insurance, please. It's a rental car. Okay. Why is your speech slur? How much have you had to drink tonight, sir? I've had a few, but um Okay, go ahead and step out. How you doing? Come right back over here. Okay. You're exhibiting a couple of signs of impairment. Okay. I'm just going to tell you. I can see it in your eyes. Yep. Okay. I can hear it in your speech and I saw it in your driving pattern. I hear you. Okay. So, you telling me that you had a few. How many is a few? Well, I I've had a few. So, yeah. Okay. Beer, wine, liquor. What was it? Uh, beer. Beer and whole grandad and Coke. And what? Uh, Jack. Oh, grandad and Coke. I had Jack and Coke cuz they don't have grand. Don't put your hand in your pocket. Sorry. Do you think you're in a safe shape to drive right now? Um, relatively yes. I I go like 5 miles to go. The distance to go doesn't dictate whether or not you're safe to drive. Right. Where you from, sir? Connected. Okay. Where was your license? Did you have your license on you? Tell me where it is before you reach. Okay. Yep. Go ahead and give it for me, please. And I'm going to be honest with you. I can smell it coming off your breath. Okay. So, all of these things that that you're exhibiting are again signs of impairment. Where is it that you're staying? Okay, that's that's quite a ways up there and you're about to get on a dangerous highway. The driver, a man from Connecticut, initially cooperates, admitting to drinking several cocktails. Officers notice slurred speech and unsteady behavior and proceed with field sobriety tests. I'm just being be honest with you. I hear you and I'm not I'm not an argu. Okay, so I have some questions for you. You're not free to leave. I'm going to advise you for what what your rights are. Okay. Do you understand your rights? Yes, sir. Have you asked any police officer to speak to an attorney tonight? No. Okay. Do you want to talk to me? Is that okay? Yes, sir. Okay. So, don't get out of the car right now, ma'am. Don't get out of the car right now. Nothing to do with anything. Shut the door. Stay in the car, please. Really? Okay. Go by then, I assume. Yeah. Okay. So, where were you drinking? Right. at the um Smok at Smok and Tuna. Okay. Did you guys have dinner and some drinks? Okay. And how many drinks do you think you had? Four. Okay. And I heard you were drinking some beer and rum and cokes. Is that correct or? No, I had uh one beer and then I had a um genonic. Okay. And then Jack and Coke. Oh, Jack and Coke. Okay. So, four four drinks, two Jack and Cokes, one ginonic, one beer. Okay. So, I have three exercises for you. Okay. They're pretty easy. The first one is called the horizontal gaze nagmus test. So, what I'm going to have you do for this, I'm going to have you stand right over here. I'm going to have you stand with your feet together, arms down by your side, just like you're doing. Beautiful. So, what I'm going to have you do, I'm going to have you look at the tip of my pen right here. Can you see that? I want you to follow the tip of my pen with just your eyes and don't move your head. Okay? Do you understand? Mhm. All right. Here, keep your head nice and straight. There you go. Keep your head straight. Despite claiming he was safe to drive, the man fails all tests and ultimately admits he would not drive his granddaughter under such conditions. Being absolutely completely sober, no drinks in your system at all. 10 being completely fall down, drunk, sitting on the ground, holding on to the grass to keep from falling off the face of the earth. Where are you at in a zero to 10 scale? Five. About a five. Okay. Do you have kids? You I know you have one son. Okay. So, do you have grandkids? Yep. I do. Okay. All right. So, do you feel that it would be safe to have your grandchildren in the car right now with you driving? I would say that um I would not I would not go out tonight if I was okay with my granddaughter. Okay. All right. Duncan, I have you turn and face away from me. Face the Walgreens over there. Keep your hands behind your back. Walk over here just to the back of your car. Okay. I said yes. Would you let me go? No. it. I I I am not the person that I'm not going to blow smoke up your kind of thing, but since since you asked, I will talk about it. No, absolutely. It would not have changed anything. Okay. Okay, ma'am. So, where we're at right now is he's being arrested for DUI. Okay. Okay. So, you've probably had something to drink tonight, too. Yeah. Okay. So, we can't let you drive away either. So, you're going to have to facilitate a ride, but it can't be in this vehicle. Okay. Okay. So, If you want to gather your belongings and step out, you can work on getting yourself a ride, obviously, and we'll stay here with you while that happens. But unfortunately, he's in no shape to be driving. Okay. So, of course. Um, Donnie. Donnie, what do I do here? Is that for me? Good. Go ahead. Just regarding the traffic crash, are they in the Domino's parking lot? Um, we're close to their ma. My son is a a police officer. Um, here in Connecticut. Okay. I I know, but that's the second time you told me that. That doesn't His female passenger, also intoxicated, is told she cannot drive and must arrange a ride. There's He's He's being arrested for DUI. Okay. Okay. You're in no shape to drive yourself. So, we're going to have to tow the vehicle and you need to gather whatever belongings you have and then get we only have the one jail. He's going to go to the jail more than likely release him tomorrow. Okay. And then you, you know, can go from there. But as of where we are right now, this is what we have to do. I mean, we have to protect the public. Okay. It's I'm not I'm not going to lecture you, but he's very intoxicated. Okay. And and when I saw you all almost crash into the curb and then go almost going to the left lane and you don't have lights on at night, it gets attention, you know. I know. But that's that's why I stopped you was not just the lights. It was also the almost crashing into the curb and then almost going into the left lane. So, but she was telling me like there's a police officer down here if you come and give her a ride. So, I was like here. It's the second time she and and I find out his son. I need some water. So, yes, sir. If you want to work on getting a ride, we'll wait here with you while you do it. Where's my husband? He's going to jail now. Oh, come on. Really? Yes, ma'am. He is intoxicated driving. Okay. It's Key West. Really? That's got to be the ever heard in my life. You don't think people have families here and it's okay to drive drunk? Is that what you think? No. That's the thing I've ever heard in my life. It doesn't mean Key West you're okay to drunk drive in Key West. Is that what you're saying? No. No. People drink and drive in Key West. And they get arrested for it. Yes, ma'am. It is against the law and it's very unsafe. He had a few drinks. He He's not out of his mind drunk. He's drunk. Work on getting yourself a ride. Unless you'd like to go with us. What do you mean? I mean, go to the tank. Would you? Instead of cooperating, the woman becomes argumentative. If you have nobody to take care of you, we'll take you to the drunk tank. I suggest you work on getting yourself a ride. Oh my god. Where's my husband? He's going to jail. Where is he? Where? He's in the police car and you're not going over there. Oh my god. So, work on getting yourself a ride. What police car? You're about to go in cuss if you go over there. I I'll go with him. Look at you. You big big man. Big man. Don't worry. It's okay to drive drunk. We're in Key West. According to her, my son is cop. No, he's in the academy. He is not a cop. And that doesn't get you anything. So, try again. Walk away. Get yourself a ride home. Where's my husband?
