already got it jumped off [Music] so since the since the last time uh us cops team was here we obtained another aircraft uh it's an o6 alpha 1968 model o6 Alpha which the other aircraft that we've got other o6 is 1969 and we've been working trying to get this aircraft for about a year now and the importance of having this 086 is it does have a standard airw a certificate on it and that's important because we can actually get our guys trained up and they can take their check rides in that particular aircraft versus using the primary Mission aircraft to 530f to to do those certifications and also that aircraft's got a C20 engine in it so it's got a little bit more power it's a really good aircraft of course it came from the the 1033 program which is the Surplus program it's enacted by Congress that allows the department of defense to um allow law enforcement agencies throughout the country the option to reutilize some of the equipment that they don't necessarily need anymore so that's how we got both of our 06 aircraft and just kind of to talk expand a little bit on the the 1033 program um over the past I would say 10 to 12 years here at the police department we've obtained millions of dollars worth of equipment with the 1033 program and that is anything from Air Conditioning refrigerators uh Humvees Vehicles aircraft of course if there was a need for it at the police department we would uh utilize the 1033 program to try to get that equipment first before we would explore the the option of going out and and using our Appropriations to buy it and kind of the way I see it is with the 1033 program we as taxpayers throughout the country have already paid for this equipment once there's no s there's no reason for us to to bear that expense again so I think we've been really fiscally responsible uh not only when it comes to the aviation unit but as a police department in general for utilizing the 1033 program like we have we've saved a lot of money throughout the years um just like I mentioned generators refrigerators whatever we needed we would utilize the 1033 program first to be able to try and find that equipment before we go out and make those purchases all right we're going to uh make a traffic stop on this vehicle because they only have one headlight operational and also only one tag light so we'll make contact with them and see if they know their lights are drive safe thank you sir yes sir uh when I first got involved with the 1033 program it was back in 2012 and we had another officer that was working on it and and I approached him and I was looking this is back before we had an aviation unit but I I was already starting to look for uh specific pieces of equipment and he introduced me to the 1033 program and showed me at that time I can't remember what the name of the web program or the web- based uh software was that um the dod uses but now it's it's RTD which is reutilization transfer and donation website that's where you go to obtain the equipment anyway so around 2012 he introduced me to that and said hey look this is you know the things that are available so um I started working with him to try and find some equip equ obtaining or try to find some equipment related to um aircraft and I started looking and man there was so much stuff on there like I said the refrigerators the man we can utilize all this stuff so admittedly at first I kind of went I went a little overboard at times um because I just it was I was I was pretty overwhelmed by the amount of stuff that the dod didn't have a use for and that I thought thought we could use the chief didn't necessarily agree with me but um yeah so some of the things I obtained was like uh arcades systems like the big gaming arcades and I remember coming in one evening uh I forget where I went and got these things Fort Benning or or somewhere and I came in and I had these arcades on the back of the trailer and the Chief came out and he just shook his head and he said what are we doing I said Chief if we put these things strategically throughout the police department I said when these guys are coming in with their breaks and um these officers can come in and kind of you know build morale and play these games and stuff he I I give I give him this he he understood that I was um learning the program and that I was doing my thing so luckily I didn't get fired but he did kind of get upset a few times which I don't blame him looking back on it you know I've kind of grown and matured now but uh yeah that was and I was 30 right so I was getting all this stuff and he would just shake his head and uh you know yeah we got we got some crazy stuff and and there was a few times where I got called in in on the carpet and he said hey pump the brakes a little bit buddy getting out of hand so I had to I had to reel it back but um like I said he he was pretty cool he kind of let me do my thing but as long as we kept up with our equipment and we had a good good process in place for how we were going to be accountable for all the equipment which we've done very well at that throughout the years and I I would hope that DOD and leso would mushrooms a little better than they were but unfortunately for him we found them just going to be paraphernalia for marijuana he's got some marijuana in here at the bottom you can see it not really sure what the heck this is sometimes they will actually tie strings to uh unable to answer illegal narcotics and put them in there and then you got to pull it out and once you pull the string up you got your little dope baggie at tied to it I checked the air filter but um there's no fingerprints on it so I highly highly doubt anybody has opened that thing all right well he going to go to jail on uh controlled substance having the Psychedelic mushrooms um we're going to try to see if he's got somebody that come get his car that way we don't have to tow it ideally we wouldn't have to leave it parked in this parking lot but if that's the case we can talk to staff here and see if they're okay with it but let's go talk to him and see what he wants to do you're going to go to gym tonight okay just for the night uh you can bond out whenever you'll have a bond um you mind if your buddy takes your car and at least leaves it parked here so I don't have to tow it yes okay uh let me ask you this
