Some criminals cover their tracks. These ones left breadcrumbs, a neon sign, and GPS coordinates. Here are five cases when cops expose the dumbest scammers ever. Number five, the moment a bank scammer realizes she's been caught. A woman tries to cash a check at a bank, but the staff quickly pick up on something off. The check was originally issued to a printing company and now has her name written over the original payee. It doesn't take long for the bank to flag the transaction as suspicious and alert the police. And so they altered the check. We verified that with our customer here and he says, "Yeah, that check has been stolen." That check was originally made out to Eagle Eye Printing and um they altered it. Altered it. Okay. Hey, put your hands up. Everybody put your hands up. Put the windows down. Let me see your hands while you put the windows down. Put it down. Passenger, from the outside, open the door. Driver, put your hands up. What's going on? Walk towards me. Stop right there. Turn around. What's going on? I'll tell you in a minute. Walk back towards me. Walk back towards me. Take four steps to your left. Yep. Hey, come over here and cuff. My daughter's in the car. What's going on? I'll explain it here in a second. I'm so confused. Yep. I'll explain it here in a second. Driver, do the same thing. Open the door from the outside. Keep your hands up and walk towards me. Can I take my key? Nope. Walk towards me. Got to cross in front of the vehicles. Come this way. Turn around for me. Walk backwards. Walk backwards. Stay right there. Put your palms together. There you go. I'll explain everything to y'all here in a second. I see her. Let me gather the rest of the information. It's all coming in third party from the tellers. So, from the people inside the tellers. So, when did you get that check? I'm not sure. Two days. Yeah. Wednesday. Wednesday. Night. Day. What time? I'm not sure. I know. I got it from somebody after Okay. We went to his house. Evening time. How much for morning time goes down four four. When officers question the woman about the origin of the check, she offers a string of inconsistent explanations. You went to his house and did yard work and you got it from him, Mr. James, whoever that is. Okay. All right. Hey, question for you. Any narcotics inside the vehicle at all? No drug paper. Okay. All right. All right. Sit tight. This is the check they tried to cash. She So they she handed her her ID. Oh, and both of them recall. Yeah. No, no, this is that's complainant right there. So they got they received this check. It was altered. It was made out to Eagle Eye. Eagle Eye President for that amount right there. So they altered the check right there. Yep. And she wrote her name on. Wow. Which one's the code? She also is she in my car or your car? In my car. She also asked for a social from her. Don't know what social find out real quick. So, I'll let y'all dig into that. So, Driver, we don't have anything on Driver. Nothing on Driver. It's Miss Johnson here. So, so they apparently came in about a week ago tried to cash another check from for a different bank. Both of them. Well, the they denied them service because they don't have an account here. They said, "You want to cash this bank check? Then you got to go to your bank. Would you still like to talk today?" Sure. Okay. So, hey, like I get it big scary. I pull up, block the front of your car, my blue lights on, and get out with a gun. Big and scary. So backtory is bank calls the check that your passenger was trying to cash is altered and stolen. Is it? Yep. So that's that's why it responds the way it did cuz it's it's a in progress felony. So if I not saying this would have happened but I didn't want to pull up behind you and then you throw it and drive and take me on a long lengthy pursuit and then could have been worse for everybody else. We didn't know it was stolen. Yeah. So you might not have known. I don't believe her. Well, she said well she got it from Mr. Dobbins who I know personally to traffic and use narcotics and steal stuff. James Dobbins. He lives down the street from y'all in Wilson. He used to live right there on minor right across from like the airport. The driver present during the attempted deposit is also questioned as part of the investigation. So, she is going at a minimum for being in possession of altered check, altered or forged check because I can tell where she wrote her name over the whoever that name was cut to. And I just spoke to the boss man of the company that wrote that check and it's not to her. So, she's going to jail at a minimum. I don't have anything on you. So, I'm about to pull you out and put put you in uh take handcuffs out of you. Whose child is that? Is that hers? Well, it's ours, but Okay. So, both of y'all have legal custody or legal rights to them. Okay. All right. If you'll hop out for me. Um, could I talk to her? What do you want to work on here? If you'll lean forward at the waist for me. All right. I'll be uh So, I'm a guy that's like super straight at the point. So, what's the deal with this check? Well, it doesn't belong to you. That's what somebody gave me. So, the dude that the bank talked to at this company is is just lying full of then I can show you the address. I can take you where I got that check from. Okay. Cuz this check is reported stolen. That's why we're here. So like we get calls on stuff because like of certain stuff going like if you were just randomly cashing a check, we wouldn't show up like this. You cash your check and you go along your way, right? But this is the bank that this check was written from or for the accounts at this bank. Please go to the place where I got it from. Well, so the person who wrote this check has reported this check being stolen. But we have numerous cases. Where do you live at? Off minor still with McCormack. So we have like five or six ongoing cases right now of auto breakins and mail thefts that are right in that general area. You see where this is kind of you're saying you got it for this, but all the evidence that I have here showing otherwise, right? Like I have there's like four or five open cases for stolen mail. There's like two or three auto breakins in that same area. And now you're here at a bank trying to cash a check that's been reported stolen. And it's forged. See, I can see where y After digging deeper, police confirmed the check was reported stolen. And the issuing company states it was never intended for the woman. I didn't write that. Well, that's your name on it, right? And you're saying you took this, right? So, all of this has been written over at least once cuz I can see where it doesn't line up. Like that was a capital F and now it's a lowercase F. And you've written over this part. I didn't write over that. Well, you're in possession of it, right? And you're trying to cash it. So, being in possession of a forge or alter check is a felony in the state of Florida. So, I'm going You could go to jail today. So, where do we get this check from? Be honest with me. I'm being honest cuz honesty goes a long way, right? So, if you're honest with me, I might be able to make some phone calls with some detectives. We might try to work something out. Please. But you got to be honest with me right now. I don't think you're being honest with me. Okay. I don't care if you think I'm not being honest. I am being emotional. Okay. Well, I'll come talk to you here in a minute. Think about our conversation. Okay. She's lying. Um, if you want to go check on the kid, I will work on maybe once we transfer her to a different car, putting the window down and let y'all talk real quick. Um, it won't be face to face. Just for everything. Question. Do you know how she got the check? Were you there? Um, I remember it being handed to her. That's all. When? Um, like a few days ago. Do you know a day? Thursday, Wednesday being handed to her or where at? Um, we went Well, I can't really remember at the yard. In the front of our yard. Okay. What was the check for? Do you remember? No. I guess she went to go do something in the yard. Okay. All right. Do you know what the guy looked like to hand it to her? You seen You You seen it being handed to her, but do you know what he looks like? handed it to her, but I was with What time of day did you go get Did y'all go get this check? Um, it was like evening Sunday. So, like 5:30 6 evening I was on the porch. Okay. But y'all went y'all went to this person's house and got this check. They they came up to us. They came up to your house, but they they stayed like the driver isn't charged, but the woman is arrested on the spot. Even if it's an off day, I can they they pay me a good time to talk to people. So, if you if you're sitting there like, "Hey, I remember who this guy was." And you give me a phone call, it would help out like tremendously. Okay. So, yeah, if you want to go check on that kid, we'll work on letting y'all talk real quick. So, the stories sort of match up a little bit. Um she's told the same story like she was doing yard work for a guy's yard. Yeah. Which she's still going for. Yeah. Yeah. Possession. But that's why I asked her. I was like, "How did the check happened?" Because it is possible now hearing this James Dobins guy could have stole it. Well, I just talked to the the dude here. He was up here like 30 minutes ago putting a hold or a void on that check cuz uh he walked. He said there's a $5,000 check that was stolen too out of the mailbox. So yeah, but no, she said guy paid her. If you say guy paid her, I wonder if that James Dobins guy could have stolen it and and he's handing it off. Oh, you did work for me, but I'm pay you somebody else's check. Yeah, but that's probably what it is. She only She only remember James. She didn't remember last name. She only remember James. Yeah, there's only not even I've only worked zone old zone 7 for I don't know 5 years. That's what I worked before I made. You take You taking her? Yeah, I'll take her. It's easy. All right. Deputy's going to talk to you. You are going to jail today for possession of a $4 check. Okay. I talked to the victim, the guy that wrote that check and it was not written. It was stolen out of his box. Yep. The trouble. Do you know anything about a $5,000 check? That was also He just told me that was stolen out of his mailbox and he's put a hold on that. So, do you know any information about that? The woman is ultimately charged for possession of a forged check and uttering a false bank note. Number four, sneaky Apple pay scheme at Publix lands employee in hot water. A Publix employee quietly runs a simple but surprisingly effective scam using the store's refund system by selecting a $25 grocery refund and using his phone's Apple Pay. He credits the money back to himself. The police are called in to handle the situation. Good. What's up? cut this um who um refund. Okay. So tell me what happened. Hearley customer service rings up refund with no customer there. Takes his phone, reaches around, puts a refund on his contact with the phone. What's he refunding? How does he How's that work? He keys in $25 grocery. $25 grocery. 25. You don't have to have a receipt to scan or anything. And so he then just turns because once you turn a refund now your register's over 25 because we're supposed to be giving it to a customer, right? So then when he takes it, it makes it even. So So when he when he brings it up has $25 refund. Here, I'll show it to you. This is what it looks like. I should have brought my glasses up here. Okay. So, grocery food refund, right? Order total $25. Mhm. Grand total. And then was this just the fact that it's been given back? Yeah. On this one, he took cash. Sometimes you'll see there they'll be So So you don't have to provide a receipt to get a $25 refund. Oh, no. Like, hey, uh, here's a receipt for whatever. We get a refund for anything anytime. That's not smart, huh? No, it isn't. Okay. But that's loss prevention. They're retail. Yeah. It's a um it's a it's a a hold over from a long time ago, but our public's culture is such that we want to continue to give our customers a refund. I I work at Publix. Over time, he processes 42 fake refunds totaling $1,030. The scam goes unnoticed for several weeks until the store's exception reporting system flags as activity. 104, we're going to be upstairs. uh from the upstairs uh management office. Bottom line is I have 42 refunds for 1,030. Got the everyone. So um so the when the when the drawer is checked, I'm assuming it will there will not reflect. No, it it balances. So if you do a refund and you don't give the refund to the person, it'll be over that amount because you're it'll be over. But he takes but if he takes it but if he take it then it becomes then it becomes the register's been even all those times. So how did you become aware of this? Um we have an exceptionbased reporting system that flags people that are doing excessive refunds that look suspicious. We have certain things we look for. So what I guess what flagged you? Grocery food $25 and a multitude of them. So only he's only done that like transactions for 25. Every one of these was for $25. Mix it up at all. It made it real easy. So when did it start? Uh beginning of March. Mhm. And then when it this way that's all I had video because my video Yeah. When did you become so you became aware beginning in March and No, I became aware of it last week when umified it in our exception based report that he was doing a lot of these transactions. 1048 popped up and it takes a while to dig in and find it and then start looking at video and then all of a sudden then so you have video. So that was on 424 and today I'm interviewing so it's been six days since I found out and he's what does he say? He admitted to it. Uhhuh. And it's over. How much is the total of this? 130. Okay. And you want him to go to jail? Yes. Okay. You want to write a statement and all that stuff? I I have to. Okay. Though the amount stolen is relatively low, the store decides to press charges. So, um, what he's doing, and I can take primary, you can take him to jail for me. Um, it doesn't really matter to me. Write it. Um he started the beginning of March. Um I guess you do a what do you call that again? A refund transaction. Yeah. So no no customers there, right? He uh he keys in $25 refund and either takes the cash himself or puts his phone over the scanner and scans the $25 in back onto his whatever checking account or service. um Apple Pay and I guess it they it will go undetected until something flags it in their system which he eventually found. Okay. Um and then started to look into and I guess beginning of March until now. Uh he's been uh and since March it's $1,000,30 42 refunds since March. transforming $2,000. 42 refunds for $1,000. $1,030. So, he's uh he's admitted to it. I haven't spoken to him. Um but that's that's kind of where we're at. They want him to go to jail. Obviously, heard that. Anyone else here? No. call the victim in the county. Moments later, the officers confront the employee in question. What's up, man? How you doing? Um, so I guess I was talking to uh loss prevention guy here. Uh, trying to figure out what's going on. But before we talk to you, we have to read your rights. This is the colonial address. He actually went to our house. The right to something. Do you understand? All right. Anything you say may be used against you. Do you understand? You have the right to attorney foring question. If you cannot afford one, they've been provided to you. Do you understand? Okay. Have I promised you anything to talk to me? Have I promised you anything to talk to me in reference to this? All right. Do you understand your rights? Okay. Um, so basically he's saying that um there's 40ome transactions I guess that you're creating and then refunding to yourself. Is that correct? Yeah. Do you know the exact amount? $1,30. That's what he said. Is that Is that you agree with that amount? Yeah. I I don't know the total amount. Okay. All right. Um, were you just like I guess ringing stuff up and then were you taking cash or were you like uh putting in your account? How how's that working? I don't put it back on my car. Cash like debit card or Yeah, Apple Pay. Apple Pay. Okay. How do you do that? Like how do you put it back on your when you do a refund? How do you put it back in your Apple Pay? Just double click on hold it to the pin pad. So you you just like is it like a QR code you scan or something? When just like that and hold it to the pin pad. Oh, and it just it refunds it like cash. So it goes to your Apple Pay account. No, I know. Or your Apple wallet or whatever. Just go to my bank. Okay. All right. So it's like getting cash. All right. Um so they want to press charges. I'm just going to call my supervisor real quick and see um uh you know the difference between I guess going to jail and me sending it to the state and letting them figure it out. Okay. So just tight real quick. You got your ID. They confirmed the process he used. There's no complex tech involved, just a gap in store policy and a misuse of a basic system. Do you have a Ford driver's license, I'm assuming, right? All right. What's your first name? Carlos. You have a Ford D, right? Zone for the driver's license. Okay. You going to gone before? No. How long have you been doing this? Working here. Well, how long you been working at Publix? Five years. When did you start doing this? Yeah. Not a good move, huh? Yeah. Are you full time here? Yes, sir. What is their uh Are they going to fire you? Contract 23 time. I'm sorry, man. Nothing to be sorry about. I hate seeing somebody that's obviously not, you know, previously been doing, you know, thing. How old are you? 26. Yeah. I hate to see that. Uh 22. I hate to see that, man. We're used to dealing with people who do do the wrong thing a lot. So, doesn't sound like this is the case. That's what I'm most likely doing. Huh? I can't tell you right now. He's going to ask our supervisor and see if we can do it a different way. Um You know, it's it's it's a felony amount. Yeah. Yeah, I know. Okay. So, once it's over 750, it might tie our hands a little bit as far as how we it was misdemeanor. Definitely probably based on um speaking with you definitely. Since the total exceeds $750, the incident crosses into felony territory under state law. kill the [Music] record, but I don't have a cage car. So, neither do I. Oh, wait. I mean, I can't leave here, right? You're off the other. So, I asked for a 40. Um, do you have signs and stuff like that? Yeah. What are you driving? It's a supervisor car. So, that thing Charlie, can I get a signal 40? I'll go downstairs. I'm trying to run them. You got your phone number. I'll send you this info. Yeah. I'll be back up in a minute. I get some extra work for you to uh write a statement for me. Okay. Okay. Uh just um yeah, I know it's uh I know it's kind of um you policy is policy. It seems like he's you know pretty remorseful and doesn't have a history of this and never been arrested. So, see somebody that's been here for a while to do this. You know, I'll be back up. You're being placed under us. You just leave your phone right there. You want to use your Yeah. Put your hands like you're praying like this together like that. There you go. I'm sorry. We're going to do it outside. Well, I mean, we'll have to walk you. But we can't do it outside with you right now. But we're going to walk you out like the side cuz we're not going to go through the lobby. Okay. Do what you need to do. Eventually, he received 6 months of probation and a lifetime ban from all public's locations. Number three, man attempts to cash forge check ends in arrest. A man walks into a bank with a check and tries to cash it. The check number is flagged, the signature doesn't match, and there's no record of the man ever working for the company. That's enough for the bank to call the police. What's up, y'all? What in the world? He said he did some work. Apparently got paid. Came to cash his check. The owner of the company already. Hey. Hey. Hold on one second. Hey, you you have a call? I'm just out here with 6 and 12 just kind of seeing what they got going on. Okay. All right. Just hit me when you're done. Okay. All right. Thank you. All right. Bye. Raising 3625. So, it's a real check or it's a fake check. It's a real I was speaking to the caller. She's out of state. She doesn't have an apartment number. She say she and they've been trying to cash around. Oh, really? He said he got it by doing some labor. Just labor where he labored for $819 worth of minutes. So they Where's the owner of the business? Uh, so the the branch lady spoke to the owners themselves and said that this number check is fraud is not valid. Oh, they did like a stop payment on the number or whatever. Like the entire checkbook that's closed. Yeah. Okay. You look a little too old to be doing labor. Officials enter the bank shortly after and gather information from the teller. How old is he? He was born in 64. Oh, that's not too bad. Okay. How you doing? Huh? I'm the I'm the manager. Okay. This guy over here. So he didn't try to leave. Really? That's a photo. That's the check. Wow. This is crazy. So he just came in to try to cash it. Yeah. And you guys already told him that was there was a bar in the check or no? No, I didn't tell him that. Okay. Do you want to check back in his ID? Thank you. Are you going to arrest them? Okay. Yeah. Uh so so how did how did you verify that it was a fake check? I called the um business and asked to verify the check. Mhm. because um the signature does not match and the check number is kind of out of sequence a little bit. Okay. Um yeah, most likely most likely that's that's what will happen. The business that issued the check already confirmed it's fraudulent. At that point, the officers decide they've heard enough. All right, do me a favor. [Music] Back 1723. 36. So, what were you trying to do in there, man? Hold on. What you What you got? What you got? Anything on you? Anything sharp? Anything? Any weapons? Anything like that? [ __ ] me. Was it your phone? You got check and everything in there, huh? Yeah, I got it on. You have a seat. You have a seat. [Music] I'll be right with you in a second. All right. Okay. So, you tried to cast this check. We tried to cast this check here. Um, you want to go in there? [Applause] [Applause] Yeah. You want me to run him while you're while you're talking? Huh? You want me to run him and everything while you're talking? You got the Yeah, I run. [Applause] [Music] [Music] The man claims he's just confused, but his story keeps shifting. Each time officers ask the same question, his answers become more inconsistent and unclear. Anybody on if you got to drop somebody at great Where'd you get it from? Waiting like 3 hours before Where did you Where did you get it from? What? Where'd you get the check from? I got for a job there. You Yeah. And and and they both been sitting I work for this dude that been work for his company and he had me doing labor for and he f been paying me checks. And so you work for a guy who worked for another guy? Yeah. And they So who wrote the check to you? I don't know who wrote to him or he gave them to me. That guy gave you the check? Yeah. What's his name? Oh, excuse me. I don't know his name in address. He just picked me up. You don't know his name? No, he picked me up at the spot. He They call him June Bug. That's all I know. June. June Bug. Yeah. You know, we we picked So, some guy named June picked you up. He picked me up after work for him. What did you do? What type of work? Oh, labor. You don't know what you did for him, bro? I'm here. I know all that. I'm trying to understand what you what you telling me, man. I'm trying to understand your situation. Okay. It might be It might be what? Excuse me. Okay. I think you did. I can What did you What type of work did you do, man? I'm a laborer. But what stuff like that? So what did you do for him? For him to pay you? Despite his claims, officers find nothing on him to support any sort of agreement or payment arrangement. He keeps repeating the same vague explanation. I just cleaned up on him. You just cleaned up on him. Where? Yeah. I can't tell you the scratch and everything, bro. Oh, it don't sound like you were really working. Okay. Okay. All right. Well, I let a lawyer deal with it. Huh? I let my lawyer deal with Will. All right. You know what I mean? I I I straighten it out. You didn't want to straighten it out. Hold up, bro. Let me Let me tell you something. Look, I paranoid all that. So, when I go work with somebody, you you look at my mother. I don't know. He got a check. He got to check somebody somebody else just doing work. I don't know what I did for work. So he talking about I asked him where he got the check. He said he did some work for somebody for somebody else. Yeah. And that that person paid him. I said what was his name? He says June Bug. He don't really know his name. I asked him what he do for him. He said, "Um, labor. I'm a laborer." Well, what did you do? I don't really know. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Where was it? Oh, I can't tell you that. I don't know. And so, you So, you didn't run to work for nobody. You don't know what you did. That's what he That's what he said. You have an outer body experience or something? So, he can't. So, the owners flagged this check as fraud. So, yeah. Tracy. Yep. Yeah. All right. I appreciate that. No throw in the mic. Yeah. 93. Uh for that location, there was a call on yesterday. I checked the intersecting street. The only thing that we had yesterday was a Chevy. Eventually, he's placed in handcuffs and taken into custody. Officers search him and begin preparing the report. You want me to pat it down? I just I just pat it. I just did it like that. You can grab the cups in the front once you're done. Okay. You got anything in your pocket, sir? I got your pocket. You got nothing in your pocket? Yeah. All right. Well, that 1655, there was actually a number of units out on that call. Believe that was that call that came in from zone five. All right. You got $4, dude. All right. over 300. What's going about to say It look like the you know it's the thing they keep all this up. Take that. All right. Appreciate it. Appreciate it. He's arrested for attempting to cash a fraudulent check. The amount just over $800 doesn't change the fact that it's a felony. When it comes to forgery, even small amounts carry serious consequences. Number two, $15,000 check scam blows up in couple's face at the bank. A couple walks into a check cashing store with a fake $15,000 IRS check, hoping to pass it off as real. At first, the clerk doesn't notice anything wrong. But after sending it to the verification department, things change quickly. The store contacts law enforcement and officers head to the scene. When the police arrive, the couple appears relaxed. They cooperate at first and don't seem to know they're under investigation. Yeah, the thing just looks like a little Christmas. Yeah, it's in the car. You want me to get it? Okay, I'll be right back. [Music] Hey, shoot. You know what we waiting on for the check? I'm just wondering like Yeah. Okay. No, I understand. I I was just wondering. I'm like I 113. They're inside the store. [Music] [Music] [Music] It's going to work. [Applause] They give fake names and hand over freshly printed IDs that claim to be 5 years old. Officers recognize the inconsistency and start a deeper check. Okay. Stand up for him. Stand up. Can you turn around? Face well. Push yourself down on the count. Put your hands up. Do you have anything sharp on you? Yes, sir. Seems have identification with you. They have he has it. Yes, sir. Do you have their IDs and stuff? And would they try to pass? They try. Can I see that as well? And who'd you call to verify this? My boss. I sent it to my verification department. Okay. And what they tell you? 2018. So this is not them false names. These issued in 2018 and they're brand new. Okay. Gotcha. All right. Um I'm going to hold on to this and I'll be right back with you. Okay. I I do need it. I need to double check if I can give that to you. So, you know, I can print you a copy. I usually print a copy. That's fine. You can do that if you want to. The officer confronts them with the truth and offers one last chance to come clean. All right, guys. Listen to me. Okay. So, before we proceed any further, okay, I'm going to read you both Miranda rights. Okay. That just means I'm going to ask you some questions. Okay. But you have rights before I do so. All right. All right. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you on the court of law. You have the right to talk with a lawyer. Have a lawyer present with you while you're being questioned. If you cannot afford to hire If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, won't be appointed to represent you before questioning. I'm going to speak to a lawyer. Okay. So, first thing I'm going to ask you, I'm only going to ask you one time. What is your first name? Is this okay? Linda. Okay. What's your last name? I know this is not you guys and I'm about to hook you up to a scanner. So, I'm giving you one option and one option only. I'm okay. Okay. So, this is you. This is what you're sticking with. That's my my picture on there. Okay. All right. Just sit tight. I'm going grab my uh rapid ID. A fingerprint scan reveals their real identities. Uncovering that the woman has a criminal history and recently completed probation. Do me a favor. Stand up for me. Just face that way. Yes, sir. Let's keep it might not be a good scan on that right one. I'm going to take her with me real quick. Stand up for me. Walk outside. So, what's your first name again? Um, are you interested? I'm trying to identify you guys first and then I'm going to explain everything and the reason why I'm here. Okay. Um, uh, okay. Are you from here? Not from Indian County. Where you from? County. Okay. I'm just going to scan your fingerprints real quick. Okay. Is he also from Bvard County? Mhm. Huh? Okay. Have you guys ever been in trouble before? Yes, I have. Okay. For what? Um, I just got off probation for For possession of me. Okay. Do you have any metamine in the bag in there? You have any meth on your person? No. Okay. When was the last time you used? Um, it's been a while. I was on probation for 3 years. So, early term. I got out. Okay. What's his name? Yeah, he's he doesn't have anything back. I don't know what he's messing with. mess with the phone. You mess with the phone. She's given the opportunity to speak with a detective, possibly to lessen the consequences. Officers then separate them for transport and make it clear just how serious the charges are. They keep playing around with things. That's why I turned sideways. He was watching too. Yeah, you know. Yeah, I gota stuff stuff in the back of your pants and tear stuff up. I don't have anything in my hands. So, you did. You're right. His name cuz I know it's not. One, these IDs are brand new and they say they were issued in 2018. That's how we know they're fake. Okay. Mhm. Two, the cash the check you're trying to cash in there stolen. Um Okay. So, what does that mean for us? Well, that means I need to one identify who you are. Are we going to jail? If I can determine that this is not the case and it's an error, then no, but I still need to identify who you are. That's the reason why I'm here. That's the reason why you're handcuffed. What do you mean if you can identify? They're telling us that the the check is stolen. So, that would be a felony passing a fraudulent check. Okay. Okay. Look at them. I'm just going to throw this out there that these were issued in 2018. Okay. Look how brand new these things are. I know that was dead giveaway to the cashier in there. Okay. So, what he does is he does a two-step verification on that check in there. One, it's coming from the Treasury Department. So, it's not like it's a personal check, right? So, when they get it that it's that it's verified that the person that is listed to, they're confirming that it's stolen. Okay. Okay. Both of your names are on there. Obviously, these IDs were created. So, where did the IDs come from? Somebody I don't even know his name to be honest with you. Um this I don't know where they came from to be honest with you. So he just had them made for you guys. Yes. How'd you guys get down here? Um a friend of ours. None of these vehicles in the in the parking lot are your guys'? No. Okay. Cuz we can pull the cameras and we can see if you guys No. Yeah, we were. We Yeah. None of them are. As their story starts to unravel, the Treasury Department confirms what the officer suspected all along. The check is stolen. Okay. So, but you're not on currently active probation. No. All right. I just got out. Gotcha. Okay. So, so as as like I told you, I still got to do the investigation. So, he's still got to do his verifying step process, but I'm going to have you sitting here so I can talk to her. Okay. Cuz like I'm telling you right now that these the real M are saying that it's stolen from what I'm getting from them. It could be a different story. However, that's the reason why we've been called here today. Oh, does that make sense? Yeah. Okay. So, all I'm going to have you do is just sit and sit in the car. He can come out. We've got the the real people have already confirmed that it's no good, but we're just trying to figure out how you got the check. Good. What about carts? As you can tell, I'm going to give you hint 2018. These things are brand new. They're going to be keep separate, though. So, I need one vehicle to stage him and one for her. Can I get one that's C? Uhhuh. C. But I need to transport them separately. Okay. I can take him. The officers collect all the documentation they need for their investigation before heading to jail. Uh copy of the check. And then do you have um actually just your last name and what's the check and I gave the other gentleman phone number. Oh yeah, I got it right here. Perfect. This has some information as to date, time that he came in. I took a picture of both of them there. Um, I'll get you a larger picture of the other. Who was the one that scanned the fingerprint? Uh, that the gentleman. Okay. That's pretty good. I'm just looking on here. This is a tax refund from 2022. Well, that that's the most current. So, that last year was the most current. Yet, they waited this whole time to do that. Well, I mean, that this is a real check. Yeah. It's just it's just that either he's not pulled or it's stolen. So meaning they these people actually receive got their check mailed out 1120. Gotcha. Suck you know. All righty. Thank you, sir. Appreciate it. With a stolen government check, fake IDs, and misleading information, the situation is classified as a felony. Okay. So, I found it. What? Nothing. Where? One of your little tin things. Tin things. You have a little pink tin screw top. See? No. I didn't know that was a name. Okay. So, here's the thing is he's going to jail. Okay. You're getting one opportunity to speak with a detective at the station. Okay. Okay. Whether he does anything to assist you, that's solely up to you. If you explain your situation and you help him out, I mean, like I said, you're looking at serious folks right now. Okay. Probably go to prison. I'm not the judge. I'm just letting you know that where you're standing at. I don't know your previous sister either. Okay. Okay. So, you're going to go with them and then he's going to jail. He already he already sealed his case. Okay. All right. So, I'm going with him. You're going with the other deputy. Okay. And then I'm going to take your boyfriend. The case is ongoing, but for now, both are behind bars. Number one, Anthony Farer caught trying to scam his way into a $200,000 Richard Mill. A man shows up at a high-end watch store and claims that one of the watches they have is actually his, stolen months earlier during a night out in Phoenix. Now, the man wants it back, but the store insists they purchased it legally and aren't giving it up without something official. Police arrive and listen to both sides. There's an argument on the stolen watch and stuff between fire and and it's getting a little heated and we need some help here to keep the situation deescalated. Um, this is the owner Jill and Don and this gentleman's accusing us of some stuff. So, okay. How you doing, sir? What's up? Okay, so this is my original invoice when I bought this watch from a dealer in LA. I have I have I can't tell you how many pictures and videos of me wearing this watch. I was at a bar on I'm not going to run out. Come on. March 18th, I was uh here for a a Grant Cardone conference. I was wearing this watch out. went to a bar, was drinking, got this was taken off my wrist. I posted it on social media and in my dealer groups the very next day. I've put $100,000 reward out for it. It's been posted on YouTube videos. And now all of a sudden in Scottsdale, Arizona, I even told him about it 2 months ago when it happened. Said, "Hey, if anybody offers you a Richard Mill, let me know mine got stolen. Pull up on See if I text you that." Because there was no report linked to the serial number, it didn't show as stolen. So if it was stolen and you filed a police report. So we purchased the watch. You purchased it from someone? We purchased it from someone. We submitted it in leads. It's been in leads from for Scottsdale Police Department. It hasn't come back stolen yet. You're telling me you Okay. So So you put a you purchased a a Richard Mill in Scottsdale without looking at any WhatsApp chats, without talking to any big dealers, and nobody came back that this watch. It's been posted in in they actually have a website that you can go on and you can put you can put the manufacturer, the serial number, all that's there's there's dozens of websites and none of them are affected because every police department across the country is not on board with them. Correct. So that so it doesn't work and not everybody knows about it. Trust me, there's not there's not a single stolen registry for every single watch because every person hasn't hasn't gotten with it. We found leads. It has not come back stolen yet. It's still on hold. So, he went to look at the watch and won't give us the watch back. But if it in fact is stolen, it has to now go through the police and the courts. Did you make a police report? Because I was already out of town and they said I had to Where was it stolen from? Uh, [Music] [Music] do you have like the paperwork for it when you bought that? It's right there. Does it have It's a watch only. Didn't come with like a card or anything or I don't know if they come with cards. They roll. They They do. They do, but if people lose them, like when I bought this watch, it came watch only. I actually bought this watch a year. You bought it Richard Mill just the watch. I'm a dealer. Yeah. No, it's Oh, yeah. Um I bought this watch in LA about a year and a half ago. I saw He says it's a $200,000 Richard Mill and provides screenshots, videos, and posts showing the exact watch, including unique scratches on the case. He even offered a six-f figureure reward back when it went missing, but never filed a police report at the time of the theft. Year and a half ago, I sold it to my client uh sold to my client a year and ago, bought two months ago. The serial number, I can show wire transfers. I can show everything from 3 months ago with the serial number and a picture of the watch. This is an actual horse hat. So this is a screenshot. This is an actual This is an actual post on April 11th at 122 showing that watch showing the scratches that they tried to remove from right here. Case number 3510. That's the serial case 3510 right there. See, dude, the scratches are the exact same. There's videos talking about this. There's videos talking about that. I was at a Grant Cardone event and I went out and that night my or Richard Mill got stolen. If I go into my WhatsApp chat work, which is where all of our business is done, and I type in Do you say you didn't report it stolen? Didn't report it because I was out of town and I hadn't had a chance to get back in town. I've been doing this 6 years. I've never had a watch stolen. It is part of the business. It doesn't make it doesn't make sense. Trust me, it doesn't make sense that somebody watch get stolen like this and I wouldn't fly back here and report it. But by the time I come back and report it, I' i've seen so many stolen watches and none of my clients have ever recovered. This thing this thing gets stolen. I'm s I can't believe I was blown away whenever he said this watch is still coming up. It blows my mind. New York,000. He admits he didn't report it because he thought it wouldn't help and figured the watch was gone for good. I said, "Hit me if you get one." So he said, "I got this one yesterday." I mean, it was just Yeah. Who Who did you guys buy it from? Do you have that? We can pull all the paperwork. Yeah. It's submitted in leads. You just can't come in here and take it. You know what I'm saying? Ticket I was holding. I'm explaining. I want to get my whole point across. I want to know where you guys bought it. This is This is no doubt my watch. Whoever you guys bought it from, I'm surprised y'all bought a Richard Mill from someone that was left with no box or papers. But you bought one with no box and papers and it wasn't slowing. But how did you know? Come on. Okay, stop. Are you kidding me? You just came in here and said you would buy a watch from somebody with no box of papers. If you Google a case, if you Google the Richard No model of that case number, there's plenty of articles showing that it's stolen. The point is Kevin Rivers. Do you know Kevin Rivers? Kevin Rivers. Yeah. I mean, this is a picture of him. I think here's the biggest tell here. So, if you know sent me a picture yesterday and there's We're not denying that it's his watch. There's no denying you can't walk in. Listen, I didn't grab the watch and run. I held it and I just want to explain my case. My fear was that I told him not to tell anybody else. I didn't want to come in in the beginning because I'm too recognizable. If someone here knows about that watch or let's say you guys bought that watch for $100,000 under way under the table and there's a a perception that it was stolen. I don't want someone disappearing in the watch not being here before I got it. I have no intention of grabbing this watch now. But it is my watch. It is stolen. I reported this watch stolen. He was offered this watch which I wonder why it's on your website. There's 12 pages of hold. he was going to offer and then when it came out of hold if he wanted it then he would be the first we can't do anything until the store on the other hand is firm on holding the watch until it clears a legal review. The serial number doesn't match and even they don't deny it could be his but they're not willing to lose the money they paid for it already for this paid him $135,000 $135 for a $250,000 watch. You know what's interesting too is that we had it um he's willing to take that amount of money for a $250,000 watch. Well, they're anywhere from $140 to not for not for a Felipe Masa ivory edition. I if I could find that if I could find that watch in my chest for 200,000 I'd buy every single one of them. So tell Rosie we'll come back. Tell her come back. So this I was drinking. I don't know. But do you know him Kevin Rivers? Not off the top of my head. He doesn't look like a Grant Cardone guy cuz I go to all those conferences. Just saying. I'm I don't I don't judge I don't judge by profiles. I'm not saying I also don't look like who I am. But Well, the fact is I got [ __ ] up. Somebody presented us a watch. Right. We had it here for almost 5 days before you decided to do anything with it. Okay. You came in and said, "I'm going to sell it. There's the paperwork. So if you reported it stolen, it should hit in their database." I didn't report. If you didn't report it stolen, um I'm not going to sit here and look at you and go, why would you not report $200,000 watches stolen? So that's your bad. Trust me, it doesn't make sense. We don't know the So I actually did call the police after this happened. I talked to the bar owner there. People get their watches and I have I got text messages with the whole crew of that bar like, "Hey, like I'm giving a $50,000 reward. I'll give $100,000. Let me figure it out. Hang on. I offered the bar manager there $100,000 to pull all the cameras so I can see where I was at when it was taken off my wrist. And apparently they don't work. So dude, look, I think everyone here knows that that's your watch. The serial number is the same. You have post y'all can I'm not going to take the watch out here, but it is my watch. It's not going to get sold. I'm going to end up back with that watch. I got to figure out how to do that. have to put they they call they say they followed all proper steps and have been in business for years. So the man's appeals don't do much to convince them to just give away the watch. Okay. But what's we've been in business for a long time a legitimate business owner. We write everything up. We do the legal, you know, so you know how it works. [Music] So this guy I'm trying to figure out. It's it's a twotory bar in downtown Phoenix. I have no idea. I know it's not I don't know where I'll drive to Phoenix and I'll figure out and I'll come back and let you know. Um actually, you know what? I'll give you this back. I might make a call. Yeah, I don't know what we can do. They tell the man that since the theft happened in Phoenix, he needs to file a report there. Without it, there's nothing they can do besides treat the issue as a civil dispute. [Music] with these guys. Yeah, I'm waiting for the text to call back more. But he's going to have to go to Phoenix to make the watch at Phoenix. That's where his story. This is your hat. Are you the time piece collection? So, there's a we're waiting for that call back because that's what we we have done business together. about a year and a half ago when I was still in Dallas. So I sold my phone but collection man that's not us collection. Oh, I was reading. I'm tiny. So now All right. Anyway, so all right. What's your name? Anthony. Anthony. So since it happened in Phoenix, you're going to have to report that in Phoenix. Okay. And then come back here for the recovery. Okay. So you're going to have to do some research and figure out where you were. I can find that out. I'll go back to Phoenix. It's across from some next to the arena. You can Google where the Cardona thing was. Yeah, that's going to be a first step. That's the only way they're going to put a video with and then most likely be a civil matter between Okay. Police report now. Yeah. Okay. I know. And by the way, I know how it sounds to have a watch like that stolen and not file the police report. 6 years I've done 80 million in sales. I own every watch. When asked why he hadn't filed a police report, the man tries to justify his decision. He realized it wasn't worth the headache because I I've seen I can't tell you how many clients that sold watches and they've gotten stolen. Just chalk it up as a lesson. Go back to work and work harder. So that's my justification for not filing the police report. It's obviously not worth it. I never expected this to happen. Freak incident that he was texting me like, "Hey, what's this worth?" I might give. That's my watch. Again, I apologize coming in there. Not accusing you guys. I'm just telling them on the way. It's like it's unlikely that a place like this would do that. More than likely they have that watch on consignment with somebody and they haven't paid for it yet. This comes back. Now they won't. And I bet that guy can't tell you where he got it. Or if you got it, just the simple fact that he's willing to take 135,000 for a watch that I would gladly pay $200 for that right now. Write me a check for 135. It's all done. Yeah. Not the same. Have a good day. Not the same. I'm not going to pay for my own watch back. I'm saying if I were a dealer and walked in there and said, "Here's this watch for sale." I would pay him 200,000. Taking a lot less to cash out pretty quick. She's giving you an opportunity to to solve this whole thing. I'm not going to buy my own watch right now that's here. What I'm saying is somebody walks into my store and offers me a watch for sale and is willing to take when it's a card that I can uh No, we're good. You You give him Don's card. We're good. Yeah, we're good. The situation stalls. The watch remains at the store and he's instructed to head to Phoenix to file a proper report. How about yours? Where's your card? One second. All right. Okay. Thank you. This is also I'm talking please. So, this is also something that happens when they look up a watch on the internet or through texting and all a sudden it's their watch and it was stolen because now they have the serial number. Now they're going to go file a police report, which is BS. And why do you lose a $200,000 watch and not report it? I have guys are pulling thou $1,000 watches. So how does how does that work? Because now he'll go file a report because he came in and got the serial number and now he's going to say that's my watch. Yeah. So it's most likely going to be civil matter regardless of anything between you guys and how far he wants to take it. You guys did nothing wrong threatening to put it on his famous TikTok. Like that's Like we didn't do anything wrong. You know what I mean? We're going to file a lawsuit against him for defamation of character. Yeah. You guys are video. Yeah. Like we did nothing wrong. They're great people. Yeah. Yeah. I know you guys. The guy in green never walks in the store again. Absolutely. Yeah. Whoever. Yeah. Yeah. I have to cut my finger. So there. Okay. Let's grab it. Thanks. Anything else? Got it. Sorry about you. Thank you for cutting. Thanks for the watch. Indeed. All right. Like I said, I wasn't going to run out. You know, something we just had to grab one last week. Just like you didn't know we weren't going to do Thank you. Okay. Oh, here. I'll talk to you out here. Okay. Though clearly frustrated, he cooperates, understanding that without documentation, there's no case. Now, this guy's probably trying to sell another 30, fourth thing. It happen. It passes two, three, four, five sets of hands. Then it finally gets put out on the market. But there's a reason it wasn't on their website. There's a reason that the guy's offering them offering it to them for half of what it's actually worth. And they're selling it for less than what it's actually worth. They were quoting it to him for 225. I'd gladly buy that watch for 225. They they know they're all of their other watches are in line, too. like the the attack with the they have the 5990. Well, they can't sell that yet cuz they didn't clear the Yeah. their system. That's why it's not on there. I don't care what they say. But here's here's here's enough call service number that we're here. I'll document that I spoke to you on what's going on. What's your name? Kyle. Right on. Just And next time if it happens again, just make it police report a lot easier. Well, so what I was saying is like, dude, look, trust me, sounds stupid, whatever, but dude, I own watch I've own watches that are worth a million, a million five. I've worn them out, got up, never had an issue. And and on in my honest opinion, in my honest mindset, I was like, you know what? Chalk it up. That's a lesson. I've never been robbed. I've never lost a watch. You know, I've done $80 million in sales in five years. So, that's a it happens. It's a lesson. I know guys that have been hit with a lot harder stuff. So, I just what teaches me, but it is in all the forums, right? So, it's in WhatsApp chats. I'm surprised they they I mean, you if you Google it with that stolen Richard Mill with that case number, there's articles that will pop up. There's YouTube videos about it cuz whenever I post it, people take my stuff and they repost it on. There's several videos talking about I mean I believe Yeah, I know. But I was screenshot for them. Just this one guy did four videos on my stolen Richard a matter of a day. So it's it's not like it's not out there and the scratches are obvious. The case number matter. He passionately insists he wants to file the report and recover the watch he believes was stolen. All right. So, I need to go to downtown Phoenix, file a police report. So, who's got the watch? They do. The owner there. Okay. I think it's the guy with the white. Got you. The store has the watch. Okay. So, now they can't sell it, right? Yeah. They're not going to sell. They're going to hold on for you. I told basically it's going to become a civil issue. Okay. Between you, you versus the store. I don't know how they want how far you want to push that. Goes way too big to lose it until I run. I don't know. your your call. It's going to be hard to Well, they're going to have to prove where where he got it. He's going to get up. Despite all the proof he showed police, Anthony Far's lies caught up with him. He pleaded guilty to running a $5.6 million luxury watch Ponzi scheme and was sentenced to nearly 6 years in prison. They thought they were masterminds, but they ended up starring in their own real life comedy of errors. Drop your thoughts in the comments.
