One moment they're pulling off a scam, the next they're caught in their own trap. Here are five cases when scammers get the surprise of their lives. Number five, woman's attempt to scam former employer backfires. A woman walks into a check cashing store confident that she's about to walk out with over $1,000. But things take a turn fast when the store employees recognize something suspicious about her check. The police are called and soon enough officers arrive on the scene to investigate. You got no clothes. Okay. Got a paycheck. We've cash several cookout checks before and looks nothing like the cookout checks we cash. I mean, obviously million counterfeit checks and that looks just like every one of them I've ever seen. So, okay. Is there apparently what's going on? He said that he's cashed phones like this before and that's all. I worked at I worked at uh Cookout and I got that in the mail because I had moved it. That's that's all I know. So I couldn't catch it. Do you have the rest of the pay stuff? No, I don't have it with me. I threw it in the trash. I mean, I had no reason to keep it. Which cooker will you work at? The one in high school. The one in high school. [Music] Yeah, I thought I got my last check in the mail. Before, but that one came so I didn't didn't think nothing about it. Excuse me. You got to stay here with this officer. She's going to get from some information from me and I'll be right back. You said that was your last check. Yeah. So, how does this work? If this check is uh supposed to be not good, what will I do about it? That's what the other officer is going to be able to explain once we figure out what's going on. One officer questions her, asking key details about the check she received. When did you get the check in the mail? 4 days ago. 5 days ago. It it might have been before that because it it was brought to me like it was it came in the mail but it was brought to me cuz I I'm now I'm still at my aunt's house so she's on hospice but uh so all my mail was brought to me. How long ago did you stop working there? Probably about probably had it been about a month. That's what I'm saying. Like when when I I didn't think your last check would come in the mail anyways. Hi Katherine. This is Corporal Drunkowski with Savannah Police Department. How you doing? I'm good. How are you? I'm great, thanks. Um, apparently you're the third person I spoke to. Uh, we have a young lady here in Savannah trying to cash uh one of y'all's checks and uh the place she's trying to cash it at says it's fraudulent and we're trying to verify whether it is or is not. Would you be able to tell me? Do you have the check or not? Yes, ma'am. Okay. Would you be able to tell me um it says Cookout what on it? Uh, it says Cookout-Hinesville, Inc., PO Box 9, uh, excuse me, 698, Thomasville, South Carolina, blah blah blah. Okay. What does the check number say? Uh, the fourdigit number says 7765. August 6, 2021. The date. Uh, the only date on here that I see says 21122. My check number 7765 is written out to SFM Williams for $43.86. Yeah. No. Uh this one for check number 7765 is uh written out to a Deanna Heathcoat or Hathcoat for 1,2764. The payroll representative confirms that the check number on the woman's check was already issued to someone else. That original check was for only $438, while the check she's trying to cash is for a much larger sum. Yeah. No, that's not. And this is a um it says Wells Fargo-N. Yeah, that is not our check. This is not yours. No, it is not. Okay. Well, I want to get their information to confirm. All right. Hold on one second. Um The check originally was only for like $100 and some odd cents. Oh, and it's written for this is this is written for $1,267 and45. Yeah. Banks is checking to see if this is going to be a felony or not. So, how did they tell you? They just said this is a fake check. Well, they said that the check number 7765 was written in August of 2021 for hundred some odd dollars through Essence Williams. Uh they told this we going out. Okay. [Music] You have anything on here that we need to know about this? All right. Go ahead and put your hands behind your back. [Music] [Music] That's all you have. Officer Moy's going to check it. Make sure you don't have anything else. So, I I don't I don't I mean, I don't understand what's going on. Okay. Well, we'll tell you in just a minute. We're going to get you placed in the back of the car. You got anything on you? No. Anything that's going to stick me? Anything on it? I don't have pain. Adorable. I just got pockets in it. monster is caught. Have a seat. Just a second. I'll explain everything. Okay. Check number 7765 was written out in August 6th, 2021 to a Essence Williams. No, her name is Deanna Coat. So, as of right now, the check that you gave to the teller is fraudulent. Completely fraudulent. What does that mean? I I I know what that means, but what does that mean for me? I don't that's what I don't I don't that's the specifics that we're trying to find out. But at this moment, it's your 1095. I don't know. Which means that you're under arrest. And what what is the charge for fraud use of fraudulent? How does that work? I mean, I will explain that later. I'm just explaining this part to you. So that I'm assuming is a fake check. That is a completely 100% fabricated check that somebody else probably got. Yeah. Made it look real. Are they sending somebody? I'm waiting to hear back from Washington. Yeah. He's going to call me back in just a second. So, they're going to figure out if they're going to send a property crimes detective or financial crimes detective. Well, it's financial crime. The police break down her charges and explain what comes next. What is What is What is going on? All right. So, your charges are going to be for forgery in the fourth degree. What does that mean? This this is only going to be a misdemeanor. So, what's going to happen is you're not you're not going to the jail. Okay. What we have to do is we have to fill out some paperwork. You're going to be given a subpoena. I believe I have to take you to forensics to be fingerprinted. Okay. And then once we finish with that, you'll be good to to be cut loose. Okay. So, let's let me get the paperwork and stuff done and then we'll go from there. All right. If anything changes, I will let you know. Thank you. Mhm. All right. So, what's going to happen is I'm going to take you over to forensics and they're going to fingerprint you. And then once they're done fingerprinting you, I can either let you out of the gate if you want and you can call someone to come pick you up from there or if there's somewhere nearby, I can drop you off. You can you'll get your phone back. That's okay. You'll get your phone back. Hold on one second. So, due to the jail not accepting misdemeanors, what we're doing is they're fingerprinting and then you'll get us what's called a subpoena form. This form right now, it just says TBD. So, it has the address that you gave me. They'll mail you a subpoena to let you know when your court date is and everything. Once you get that, then all you have to do is show up to court. Oh, I can fight this, right? I mean like it's something that's fightable. You'll get to tell your side of it from to the courts. Okay. So, normally you would be taken to the jail, right? Like I said, because they're not accepting misdemeanors at the moment, they won't you won't be taken to the jail. It's still the same process. It's just you're not sitting in a shortly after she's taken to the station, processed, and handed her paperwork. Same thing we just did. Yeah, I was about to say just stand there for a second. We're Mhm. cleaning up after the gentleman before you. So, here's yours. Here's your coffee. All set. Thank you. You're welcome. I can either let you out at the gate and you can walk. That's up to you. Or I can drop you off at the actual gas station. That is up to you. What kind of gas station is it? People want to see you and you don't know about the police. That might not look good. And you got all your paperwork? Yeah. The suspect is charged with forgery. Number four, 18-year-old's get-rich quick scam at Walmart fails. An 18-year-old Walmart employee devises a scheme to scam the store, scanning items twice, and issuing fake returns to pocket cash. Over a month, he steals around $9,000 in cash and gift cards. But the store catches on, investigates, and calls the police once they have enough evidence. for me. You got anything on you? Your phone? Where's your phone? I guess I should have taken your Walmart vest off before handcuffs. [Music] You have any locker or any other personal property here? How'd you get to work tonight? Crazy. Nothing crazy. Yes, sir. It's just a black bag. It's in the second closet. Second closet. Second closet. What color? Uh, it's a black bag. Is there anything on it? Any design? No, it's just a black bag. pockets. [Music] Where's your phone? All right. He's taken to the precinct where detectives read his rights and question him. [Music] Um, I'm going to read you your Miranda warnings. Okay. Are you familiar with what those are? Okay. Um, cuz I have some questions for you. Um, I'm Detective Schultz. I'm helping my partner. Move the chair. You want to what? Can I move the chair? Move the chair? Yeah. Yeah, of course. Here. Can you move it? I can move it for you. Got it. [Music] Okay. Okay. All right. And with those rights in mind, um do you agree to speak with me? As the questioning continues, they lay out all the evidence against him. With nowhere to turn, he confesses. Um so, you obviously know what's going on, right? um with your employer Walmart. Um can you tell me how long have you been working at Walmart? Like I would say a month and I'll be now Oh, just a month. Yeah, one month. Okay. Uh did you work before that? Yeah. Where did you I was in the army. You were in the army. Okay. Well, thank you for your service. I appreciate that. Uh how old are you? I'm 18. 18. Okay. So, you weren't in the army very long. Didn't work out. No, I wasn't I was 17 when I joined. Okay. Yeah. Are you from Are you from here? No. Where are you from? I'm from Jamaica. Jamaica. How long you been in the States? Less than a year. Less than a year. Wow. Okay. Well, um obviously we were called by Walmart for a theft investigation. Okay. Um you were made aware of that investigation today, right? Yeah. Okay. So, this here is the statement you gave Walmart, correct? Correct. Okay. So, I briefly read over it. Um, it says you have been kind of going through it at home. Is that right? Yeah. Have nowhere to stay. Have no car. And that's kind of why you started doing what you were doing? Yeah. How much How much do you think were you stealing every day when you went into work? No. No. Not every day. Not every day. How many shifts were you working a week? A week? I got I got two days off every week. So, five 5 days. Okay. So, out of those 5 days, how often do you think you were um taking cash or making gift cards? How often do I think I was taking cash? Yeah. Was it every shift? No. No. Just as you needed it. Um like when I say it's free, like when no one's there like Gotcha. Okay. When you had the opportunity. Yeah. Okay. Um and how much do you think you stole in cash? to like in cash or in gift card uh in cash. In cash uh like 4,000 4,000. He admits to stealing the money and explains that he's been struggling financially. In his mind, taking the money seemed like the only option. Okay. And the gift cards was another Yeah, the gift card is like 4,000 4,000 like in total of about the max is like around 8 or 9,000. And you use that to buy a car? Yeah. And the car is not running very good, huh? No, it's I bought a used car. So, and then the gift card. I used the gift card to buy like parts for it so I could fix it virtually. Have you ever been in trouble before? No. No. Did you you have kids or anything? No. No kids. Are you still living at home or were you living in the car or I was um but I was living on the couch. On the couch at your dad's house or a friend's house? At my dad's house. Your dad's house. But you couldn't stay there or what's the deal? No. He the deal is like to because he heard I'm getting out of the army and that was the main thing. He wanted to like use me like do you know he got benefits and all that. So then he's telling me to do some things for my disrespect and all that. And then he was like if I don't want to list I should leave. And he gave me a eviction paper saying I got 6 months to leave his house. But now I got 4 months. Next month it's going to be 3 months. I mean you got out of the army. You got a job at Walmart. What is your plan? Do you have a plan? Do I have a plan? Yeah. Like what is what does your dad what does your dad want you to do that you don't want to do? No, he wanted me to to join. He said to put the sheriff is in the police but I don't want to do those type of job. Yeah, he does ask me what I want to do or nothing like that. He want me to do what he want me to do. At first I didn't want to join the army. The only reason I did like because so I could help my mom because then this the benefit. Yeah. It would kind of help you out. Yeah. The detective reminds him that choices have consequences. What he thought was a quick fix has now turned into a serious legal problem. Okay. Um, had anyone ever confronted you about this while you were working there or you had no idea that they knew? Um, I I I I kind of have an idea that they knew. You had an idea? Yeah. Okay. I knew it was wrong. You So, you said you knew it was wrong. I knew it was wrong, but I didn't I knew I was wrong, but I never had a choice, I guess. Yeah. I mean, you always have a choice, but unfortunately, when you're kind of going through hard times, it makes you make not good choices. Yeah. Because realistically, you taking this $8,000 didn't get you ahead, right? They got me right here. Right. And I mean, someone tells me you you know, you want to work hard, right? You your intention is to get a car to get you to work, right? I mean, it says I I heard you say today that you had to take a lift to work, but then you literally wrote here that you were trying to get a car so that you didn't have to take a lift or Uber to work. Yeah. But I mean, where do you where do you used to live on? Yeah. Is that the city? West Palm. Yeah. That's his house. That's Well, I mean, is there anything else you think that we should know um regarding this incident? I can't really I mean, you kind of wrote it all out for us why you did what you did. So, um do you think there's anything else that we should know or you want to have any questions for me? Like, what do you want to know? No, no. I mean, you wrote I mean, typically I would ask you why you stole, but you I mean, I I can see why you stole. Yeah, cuz you don't want to be homeless. You have to get to you need a mode of transportation. Um, but you said, you know, what you did was wrong. I mean, there's really not much else to it. Unfortunately, it's kind of a a bad situation. Because the amount stolen is so high, he's charged with felony grand theft. Instead of just losing his job, he now has a criminal record around. Um, you have any questions for me? Yeah. Like what would that be next? Um so I think you are getting charged with the grand theft. I think um for obviously the dollar amount. Um I'm not sure if there are any other charges. Um cuz I'm just helping my partner out. So I will have him come in here and just let you know what you're going to be charged with. And then um you're going to be taken down to the county jail and booked in for those charges. You've never been arrested. So you probably will get a bond. Um depend bond. Yeah. So bond is like they post an amount and you can put up 10% of that to get out of jail until your court date. Does that make sense? So you'll get bond with a court date. So if you can make the bond, you can get out until your court date. Does that make sense? So typically like when would be the court date? Um I think they're usually like within a month. But um you've never been arrested though. So, you might get released without without a with without a bond. I I'm really not certain because I don't know what your charges are. Like sometimes you can get released on your own recognance or whatever the case may be. Um you know, you don't have any open cases or anything like that that you have to worry about. So, um I'll have them come in here and explain all that to you though. Okay. All right. He's working on his paperwork. I'm going to get your um property all bagged up so that that'll all go with you so that way when you get out you uh you have that with you. Um besides your necklaces, do you have any jewelry on? All right. I'm going to have to take those off. You okay? All right. Thank you. All right. All right. [Music] Oh, I'm so sorry. No bracelets, rings, nothing like that. Okay. Okay. All right. I'm going to be right out here. Okay. If you need anything, just you can yell. Okay. In court, he avoids jail time, but is sentenced to 2 years of probation. He also has to pay $8,500 in restitution to Walmart. Number three, this is what happens when you eat on someone else's dime illegally. A man walks into a Texas roadhouse to pick up his order, unaware the police are on their way. Earlier, a California man spotted an unfamiliar charge on his credit card and reported it. The restaurant staff quickly connected the dots, suspecting fraud, and called the authorities. All right. What you doing, Eric? My my people just ordered me some food offline. This time for me your car. Yes. Let me see your registration. Well, it's my guy car, please. I got one stop. I got you welcome. What the am I doing? Just put your hands on the car for me right now. Do me a favor. Let's go over here under the uh under the underhang. Whatever. Let's go inside. Close your door. Hey, man. Come on. Yeah. Do you know if I got somebody called and then Yeah, I've got I've got that person's phone number right here. Do you And is that the receipt? No, that's just the phone number. I've got the receipt in the office. Yeah, it was it was under 50 bucks. I don't know if that matters. Yes, sir. Well, I guess with the tip, it's over 50 bucks. I don't know if that makes a difference when it comes to How did you guys get this car? Uh guy called the store. He said, "Hey, somebody just used my credit card at your location. Um this is the order that was used. I'll be able to look at what we like the orders that we had come in and just like put two and two together." Okay. Did he give you his name or anything like that? No, I didn't get any information from him other than just Okay, I'm going to call the police. Okay. And then and then when I went out so like guest whenever they use like online ordering system and get like a print out like with their name on it. So, he's got on his phone right now a receipt from us with the name of Quang Pu, which I'm assuming is the actual person because when I talked to him, he sounded an Asian. Um, so I'm assuming that that's who it actually is. But when I went to the car and just like, "Oh, hey, what was the name for your order?" He couldn't tell the name right away. And he had to like look it up on the thing and be like, "Oh, my name's and then showed me that that was what the name was. That was only the restaurant system tracks orders and shows that the name linked to the purchase doesn't match the suspect. The officers begin to suspect that either the man or someone he knows has access to stolen card details and has been using them to buy food. And uh you can tell the difference between it being like a mobile order, a Door Dash order, and like Oh, we don't even do Door Dash or anything. We only go through like our our app or like phone call orders. Gotcha. Okay. So there's no chance of him being like a third party delivery guy. No, absolutely. Okay. Yeah. The only thing I was like holding out for was that like maybe the person that showed up was like a family member and they didn't know that they were like using his credit card or something like that. But I wasn't going to wait for him like here to call you guys. Are you going to be here while in case any other question? Yeah. My only request is that I've got guests currently I think in my other spots out there. Is there And one of them just got their food. Is there any way we can just let them know? Are they stuck? They're parked in. Yeah. Okay. We'll we'll take care of that. Okay. Thanks, man. I appreciate it. Yeah. Over here. He has eating information. All right. He said his name was Quain Poo. Is that he said it? He He told me the guy outside told me his name was Quang Pu. Okay. I'm pretty sure what's going on is like our online ordering system is it's tracking back to that card being used previously in our system somehow. Because like I said, the guy that called me his name sound. He didn't give you his name. No. No, he didn't give me his name. No, but I mean I can Well, I guess you guys are Yeah. No, I will. I'm just wondering if he didn't give you Yeah. No, but but I'm assuming that the the the card is tracked back to this guy who like originally ordered with us before and somehow this guy got the same card number and that's why it's showing this other guy's name. Before I ask you anything, sir, I'm going to just read you your rights. Okay. All right. All right, sir. Listen to me. I'm going to read you your rights. Okay. You're you have the right to remain silent. You understand? Yes or no? Yes, sir. Okay. Anything you say? Maybe he's against you in court. Do you understand? Yes, sir. You have the right to source a lawyer before and during question. You understand? Yes, sir. Can I call a lawyer want you to provide it for you before questioning on charge? You understand? Yes, sir. Has anyone threatened you or pro? After reading the suspect's rights, the officers begin their questioning. I don't even know why you're here, sir. So, I don't I'm just asking this last thing. Has anyone threatened you or promised you anything to get you to talk to me? Has anyone promised you anything? Has anyone threatened you or promised you anything to get you to talk to? No, sir. Okay, sir. Do Do you have a reason why I'm here? No. Okay. What are you doing at the roll outs right now? My friend ordered me some food and I came to Your friend ordered you some food. And how did he order you this food? He uh ordered online from what card? I don't know what he did. I just I was hungry. I don't know, sir. Okay. I don't know. So, who's his friend? my friend named James. So if I call James, he's going to tell me the same story. Yeah, if you call Yeah. I mean, so I don't know what's going on. I don't know what's going on. I just went over What is James last name? Jones. And you going to tell me that he ordered it? What? For you to pick it up? Yeah, I just picked the food up. What did you order? [ __ ] I just ran to pick food up. I know. I got me a uh I got me a truck. You got a what? I got shrimp. Shrimp meal. Okay. All right, man. So, I'm going ask you again. The the car that you use to order this food, where did you get this card from, sir? I don't I didn't have any cars, sir. I just I just came up here to pick the food up. That's why I came. Where does James live? They in uh I'm I'm not even from here. I'm from I moved here from Ohio. So, James, you from where? I'm from Ohio. I just moved here like about 2 years ago. So you you two you've been here for 2 years. You don't know where you at. No, you ain't. You said where he live. Yeah. Where he's at? He's up north. James up north. How far up north? Ohio is. So you listen. You see this story you gave me, man? How it's not making no sense. Your friend ordered you some food for you from Ohio. Bro, I'm I'm up right now, man. I I'm up right now. I mean, you got a blue Tesla. I mean, what do you mean by I'm I'm going through a hard time. As they press him further, his story starts to unravel with even more inconsistencies. You know what I'm saying? So, I man I mean I'm going through a hard time. You ever been arrested, sir? Long time. That's a long time ago. 10 years, 20 years, 5 years. 2000 2000 before I went to prison. Okay. At um you've been out of trouble since you got out? I haven't been in no trouble when you fully armed. 15. Okay. Been out since 2015. No trouble since Okay. So that puts you at 8 years. 8 years. Everything been going good, I'm assuming. Right. Yeah. I mean, I've been all right. I mean, been going all right. Got you a car, but recently going through some time. Okay. Your buddy James, is that what his name was? Yeah. Okay. And what's his last name again? John. Okay. Your buddy James Jones lives in up north. Yeah, he live up north and I in Ohio. Yeah. I had a conversation with everybody dog. I got you. I'm really He's like just go to the And these prescriptions just so you know my other You got I got no issue with No, I'll just So that way you know like you know what I'm saying? So your boy was like, "Don't worry, I got you." Basically your little something something real quick at the at the Texas Roadhouse. You come through to pick it up. That was That's it. Now I mean now you're confused cuz those lights on. You got a bunch of What's going on? The way y'all pulled me out and I don't even know what. And they just read me my right. So I know I'm under arrest. So I don't even know what that doesn't make you under arrest. You are detained though, right? Obviously we told you to come over here, right? You're not free to go. But you're not under arrest. Cuz I'm confused. Really? I'm I'm confused about this whole thing. I mean I I really don't know. All right. Like when you I came to pick some food up. Me come to pick some food up and there four police officers here. I mean that's kind of that's kind of like tough for me. You know what I'm saying? Knock on my girl. Just give us a sec, man. All right. Let's figure everything out. What's going on? To get to the bottom of it, the police contact the credit card owner. We'll let you know. Obviously, you have an idea what's going on, right? We're trying to figure out. Yeah, I said something about a credit card. So, now I'm like, what? But you have an idea now. why we're here. I definitely could trying to figure out I'm trying to like how that even like that's what we're here to figure out. I mean I don't how did you um find out that your car was used to get all wet. Let me try to All right, sir. Uh hold on just a moment for you for me. Okay, we're going to have to confirm his identity. So, it's just in the car. Okay. So, you said you got a uh email that someone had used your card. Yes. Was it like an email just letting you know or was it like possible fraud type email? Just a transaction. If there's a transaction, I'm going to get because I set up like this. Yeah. Okay. Did you give anyone permission to use your card? No. No. Did you per chance you you didn't place any orders for another person or anything like that? No. Okay, bear with me just a second here. Do you know anyone in the Orlando, Florida area? And sure enough, the purchase was made using stolen card information. Okay. Um, have you already made sure your card got cancelled and everything like that or disconnected all that? Can I call my girl at least to tell her what's happening, bro? Can I at least do that, bro? Can I at least call my girl? [ __ ] He shoot in the back. I don't know where. That's my baby. How do you How do you like unlock it? So, it's locked. So, I got to like go into it and like I need I need my phone. I mean, your phone's all with you. I just want to make sure I close the window. I need the phone. All right, just have a seat. Take the hat off. Don't search the hat. I already searched the hat, but I'll keep it off. Still in disbelief over the unfolding situation, the man is prepared for transport. Do you need them glasses to see or are they just sunglasses? All these these reading glasses and I got my other glasses on the seat. Can you grab my glasses? I'll grab them. If I take them off, are you like still able to see? No, I'm without the I can't see. These prescription glasses. All right. All right, let's go put your feet in there for me. Pisces, but my other glass is not only $3,000. I got you. We'll get the other ones. Watch out. I got to put seat belt on you. Can I use my phone to call my girl at least, bro? We'll uh we'll get to that in a few minutes. Okay. Can I at least call her, bro? That's her credit card. She can That's her. That's Jennifer. That's my girl. Just sit tight for me for a minute. Okay. Be mine, man. I understand. Give me Give me a couple minutes. All right, Kayla. Can you tell me? Yeah, I'm on. Can I Can you tell me anything about the card that made the order? Was that your card or somebody else's or? All I did, man, is tell my my homie I'm hungry. He ordered me some food. I can't take it off. That's it. That's That's it. That's all. Okay. So, you don't know anything about the card? I don't know what's I'm I'm confused, man. I'm really confused. Well, here I'll explain to you now. So, somebody called here at the Texas Roadhouse saying that somebody that they did not get permission to, they don't know who it was, used their card to make an order. You then came here and picked up that order. I didn't get no food. I didn't even pick nothing up. I got you. I know you're here to get the order is what I'm saying. That's all I can give my phone. So I called that person. They said they didn't give anyone permission to use their card. They're not even from the state that you mentioned that your friend is from and that's why we're here where we're at. So the person said, "I didn't give anyone permission to use my card. This is a fraudulent thing and I want to press charges cuz this is not me." So that's why we're at where we're at right now. Being the charge is being pressed on. All I did is came and I didn't even pick no food up. I ain't even prepared the food. Well, you're saying your friend's the one that paid for it. When we call that number, they they don't know what we're the person who called here saying it's their card. They don't know what we're talking about. They said, "I didn't do that. That's not my card purchase." I They didn't purchase it. I didn't. All I did was come pick it up. That's all I came to do. I got you. That That's why we're at where we're at. All right. But things get worse. Officers check his records and find another issue. His driver's license is expired. Now he's facing multiple charges instead of just one. You can't tell me anything else about your friend other than I mean, bro, you about to take me to jail, bro. You about to tow my car, man. I I'm getting charged for this. So, it it whatever going on, I'm I'm the one being charged, so it don't even really matter, bro. I'm being charged of this, man. It I'm being charged right now. I'm about to go to jail for some don't even know nothing about, man. How you, bro? I just It's I'm tight. I don't even got nothing to say, man. It's cool, bro. It's cool, bro. Another thing, you know, your license is suspended. Well, they can't be. No, I No, can't be cuz I paid never. Well, it shows it's expired. Never and it was suspension back in January. But they never expens suspend it right now. They only expire until 2029. Shows expired. Look at my license. When we when we check it, it comes there's going to be a traffic system. Expire. How? How, bro? Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Yeah. So, you got two charges. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. How is my license expired when you looking at the ID and it say doesn't matter what what the number on the ID says. When it look when we look on the system, it shows expired more than 6 months, which is criminal. That's going to be an additional charge that you're going to have. There's no further discussion. Hold on. I'm trying to hear what you're trying to say about my light. What you mean there's no discussion? I ask you a question. When we when we run the license in the computer from the state system, the state says it's expired. Let's make it expired. The state says it's expired. So whatever they have on record shows it that it is expired. So a license expired. That mean the date on it ain't right. Right. That's what that's cuz that's what expiration. It means it's not good. Yeah. It just means So how is that not good? How Hold on. How was it not good? When I just went to court over here in about January, I just paid my fine in March. I just paid them 300. January was a suspension. There's nothing else and I p and I paid the fine in in in in Maitland on 323. You're going to have to talk to the courts, but it shows that it's not good. It seemed like you only The man was ultimately arrested for fraudulent use of a credit card. Number two, couple tries to outsmart Walmart. It doesn't end well. A couple walks into Walmart thinking they found an easy way to cheat the system. They go to selfch checkckout, scan some items, and intentionally skip scanning others, hoping to walk out without paying full price. The situation escalates when police arrive. Nobody knew that. a separate shoplift shop. You're wrong, dude. Don't come up saying don't tell me what to do. No, but no one's shopping with nobody shoplifting about anything. No, I don't care. Give me the money for the microwave. Talking about like somebody put a sticker on the thing and did all that, man. One by one. One by one. He scanned the thing. The worker scanned the thing. Everybody did whatever. I don't care how much it was came up to. I don't know where it came from. This is the scan. This is Okay. Well, however it goes. When we scan it, that's what it is. She runs it up to I don't know. She panned it on her phone. Bottom line is can we get our microwave right there? Watch out, dude. I'll go pay for what is this one? No. [ __ ] the camera. Let me pay for my shooting. So, how much is it? The couple refuses to cooperate and insist they're being falsely accused. They argue with officers and demand proof, not realizing that surveillance footage has already confirmed what happened. You said it run up as a dollar, so we owe you $79 more. Dollar. A dollar. Maybe she'll get you one, too. Okay. This is too Excuse me, sir. Let me bring it up. So, we No, I I don't think you can buy this in Yes, I can. Yes, man. I'm not paying for my stuff, bro. So, can you look at your camera, sir? That's what we're going to do. Thank you. And you will see that he scanned it in the office. Thank you. This is ridiculously in the office. You're either going to go in handcuffs or you're going to go in I'm going handcuffs for work. My daughter's right here. Hold on. Go in the office. always. Come on, Jimmy. Have a seat. Excuse me. Adrian, this is my daughter. This is my daughter. Push past me. Listen, don't be disrespectful. I didn't disrespect nobody. Too much. Everybody take off your Too much. I'm not putting up with this. For what am I getting a handcuff for? I'm getting arrested for be quiet. Oh my arrested for what? Hands behind your back. The couple continues to make excuses, claiming they didn't realize what happened or that the system glitched. The officers aren't buying it. We have to come down. This is crazy, man. This is crazy. Could you please rewind? Thank you. If you guys can just stay calm, relax. Don't even say another word. Have a seat. I will figure it out. No, I don't need that. No, I have a disability. I have a disability, man. Let's not do this. Okay. Let me put my money outside. My daughter's going to be fine. Here, hold on. Can I just do this? You don't have to be like this, sir. You don't. I'm 50 something years old. I'm just saying you don't have to like 63. I know. So, treat me with a little bit of respect. You treat me with respect to you. I didn't cause any. Don't do that. Do not turn on me, man. I'm not doing anything. Relax. We're doing everything. Relax. Well, no. You haven't seen nothing yet. I know. Why are you pushing all this? I didn't do one thing, [ __ ] I made a decision. Put it in your Hold on a second. Don't take my money. Please. Let me get it back in your pocket. Let me get this straight, man. Let me hold on to it. Guess what? You in my house now. Okay. Why you yelling, bro? Because you ain't listening. You in my house now. You follow my rules. Sit down. [Music] You guys want to be disrespectful, you guys can spend the you can spend the weekend in jail. How's that? You are talking your way into the a weekend at the score jail. What are you talking about? Quiet. I just said so. You understand English? Quiet. Please quit talking to me. Please. You're talking to me. Okay. You made something very simple. Just pay. I said, "Let me pay." No, you can't take something for a dollar and go, "Oh, I got caught. I'm going to go pay the other 79 bucks." At the top of the box. No. The officers review the footage, which clearly captures the couple skipping scans. Words. Prosecution. The guys take it. I didn't steal. Sir, why are you doing this? Why are you doing this? What are you doing, man? I didn't steal anything, man. I don't understand. Where was my microwave? What? Where's that microwave at? It's out here in the car. Where was it? On the counter. What are you talking about? I'm asking where was it when you when contact was made? In the store. In the store. I walked into the store. I walked out to the car. I'm sorry. The microwave was in the parking lot. Is that where it was? Yes, because he had the receipt. Okay. You passed the final point of sale committing POS fraud. No, I spoke to the lady. I spoke to the lady at the she said I said he has a receipt. He's paying both of the workers helped his pay. We didn't know any of what dollar any of that. I didn't do any of what you're saying. All I did was scan the stuff. Pay the money and ask for the receipt. It's $8. So why? Okay. An $80 microwave for a dollar. $80 microwave for a dollar. I didn't ring it up or nor did I look at the price. I mean I rang it up or whatever. It's one of those like these. Mhm. No, I didn't do any of that. So, did you go back to the microwave alley and and watch us looking at microwaves? Did nobody We're watching it right now. I hope so. I didn't do anything. So, let's see what happened. Nothing. Nothing. I didn't do anything. Nothing. He grabs the gun eventually. Mhm. Okay. Yeah. You can see I'm I'm not doing anything fraudulent. He scans it. Says error. Asked for the warranty. No. He scanned the bed. I scanned the ice trays. And that was that. He never scanned the microwave. Yes, I did. He scanned it at the top. Scanned it. I did. We're watching you the whole time, though. Let me watch it with you. There's an air bed on the bottom. Where's it at? I scanned two times. Where am I at? So, it asked you for the warranty for the bed. When you try to scan the microwave, it gave you that red error signifying that it wasn't scanned. It said that for the pop for the soda. No, it didn't. It was for the It was for the microwave. It's clear right here. Look, I'll show you. Okay. Well, I didn't understand what I didn't understand that. I didn't understand what you're saying. I really don't understand. But go back to me where I'm scanning the stuff. It shows me scanning everything I try to scan right here. Look. Check this out. Oops. Surveillance doesn't lie, my good sir. Walmart employees remind them that failing to scan items at selfch checkckout is still theft. And once a customer passes the final point of sale, it's officially shoplifting. You're scanning. I'm scanning. It gives you the error invalid. You decide to say [ __ ] No, I didn't see this. I didn't say no. And then you go scan the bottom. No, but I'm not saying cuz I don't I don't know that the bottom is my bed. I scanned my bed. I didn't try to do what you're saying. That's not true. If you look at it, bro. Yeah, but I'm just saying you can see it, man. I don't do what you're saying. Sir, let me talk to you real quick. I need you to understand something. We're not calling you thieves. We're not saying that you are stealing. Our job is that the moment that you pass that last point of sale and you take an item that's not on your receipt, listen, it is considered theft. I'm not calling you a thief. All I'm saying is that the moment it passes for me whether it's on your if if it's not on your receipt, I didn't look at that. I completely didn't pay that no attention, bro. I thought that unfortunately for you when it comes to that, it doesn't matter anymore. The moment that you pass, if you look at if you look at what I tried to do, man, I I did everything I thought. You're not standing up. Come on, man. I'm done. I'm done with this back and forth. I'm telling you, I'm going to file the charges. That is what it is. You didn't see what Did you even look at it, sir? Did you see it? You know, I didn't do what you're saying. Okay, that's cool. That's for us to court. You don't have to I told you that that was that, man. You're just You're being wrong, man. You're wrong, bro. You're wrong. My heart. We We file charges no matter the amount. Whatever. I don't I don't need to hear anything else. It's just that's ridiculous. It didn't happen like you're saying. I know. And that's and they escalated and he just got loud and everyone else got mouth and they rushed over there in a heated rush. Man, listen. Something that you can fight when it comes to the charges being sent over. Dude, I know how how things work. You don't have to explain that to me then. It's just like this is just being ridiculous how he's taking it and how you feel like with your little bit of authority or whatever you have, you just you're pushing the line, man. And it's the wrong decision to make. You made a mistake. But despite the undeniable evidence, the couple keeps rambling, insisting they're innocent. Oh, mistake. Yeah, bro. I'm not trying to steal, bro. Oh, okay. Like, we scanned the box. Nobody knew nothing was nothing or whatever. The black girl tried to scan it on her phone. 43 wasn't working. and we move. You saw what it wasn't working. It wasn't nothing man like trying to get over or any of what a dollar like nobody was trying to do any of that. We took our time to try to shop for a microwave. Like this is crazy. And like I said, when you guys told me the price of it, I get it. Okay, that ain't the price. But here, pay the price. Cuz that's what I was trying to do. My intent was to pay for what I bought. I didn't come here to steal with the kid and I'm a thief. No, man. It's not true. I'm 50 something years old, dude. I don't like the treatment. And you're yelling at me, dude, like I'm a kid. Irritates the out of me. Who you talking to? I'm talking to whoever is listening. That's not You're 50s something years old. Don't give me the stare down, buddy. Just calm down. Please. No, cuz it hurt. It could irk you, but just please. It irks the out of me. Oh, irks the out of me, too. What? What does tell me just you do you people just try to that's what you rationalize everything. That's what you think. That's what you're doing. You think you're doing that. You think you you developed that method of shoplifting on your own? [ __ ] I'm not shoplifting. I got news for you. I'm not shoplifting, buddy. I don't appreciate it. You're making accusations. I know. You're 50some years old. So what? What does that mean? Whoopdedoo. Everybody just has to make this process so much harder than it has to be. You did that. You made it harder. You think Oh, no. You want to see hard ridiculous I do not think I'm a bad We don't like man all this bad. It doesn't make it any better, guys. I know, but it doesn't make better. He's still ant antagonizing. How am I antagonizing you? You know what you're doing. What am I doing? You know it. I don't enlighten me. what you unfortunately for them, the police have had enough of their excuses. No amount of rambling will save them from the consequences. If you don't know, it's a sad sad thing. Okay, so there are going to be a couple pictures that are going to be taken today. Um, I don't know what his pass is going to be for you guys. I don't know what his decision is going to be. That is my boss. Um, these pictures, my decision might be score jail for both. Why? I'm not doing anything, sir. Let him let him say what he wants. to focus. So these pictures are going to go I'm cooperating. I understand you are. You are. I don't know about this guy. This guy running his model. All right, guys. Give me a second. So these pictures are not going to go anywhere public and we're social. It's not going to stay on our work phones. It's just going to go into our system. So for future reference, if we need to identify you, we can do it that way. Okay. Okay. So back to the question. Who has ID? You have ID in your purse. Go ahead and stand up. Don't misunderstand this. You guys are still under arrest for theft. All this was totally unnecessary. The vast majority of people don't respond cuz we leave it alone. Leave me alone then. Don't do that. You can respond if you want, but I'm saying it's totally unnecessary. You can ask him. The vast majority of people in here walk in without handcuffs because they're cooperative. They don't argue. They don't not listen. They just I got caught and I freaking sit out. My case though, buddy. Here it is right here. What is with today? There's something in the water. Everybody because all three times I've come here, people are in handcuffs. And normally I come here and nobody's in handcuffs. It's been one of those days. It has. It's been like that for like the past two weeks. So everybody is clear. Randy, you do have uh some history of organized retail theft, though. Yeah. The officer then lays out the charges and issues a trespass notice. This is a trespass warning saying that you cannot come back to this particular Walmart for a period of 3 years. Correct. I don't know what he wanted, but I mean I think it's better than the it's better than the alternative cuz the alternative is his is permanent, I think. Right. Yeah. Okay. Good. Sign here. That's just saying I'm giving you a copy. You don't have to sign it if you don't want it. There's a notice that says that I can't come here for three years. For three years. It's standard. Everybody that comes through this office gets one of these. You know, theirs is it's particular to this Walmart. To be honest with you, one of ours is for every Walmart. So you guys can still shop at a different Walmart. Until we get this come back here. I understand that. If you decide to break this trespass, you'll probably be facing more charges. If you decide to come back to Walmart and steal as little as a candy bar, steal I'm not saying you're stealing, man. I'm just giving you the details. Listen up, please. If you come back to Walmart and if you steal as little as a candy bar, you can be facing felony charges because not only are you trespassed, but you're stealing and that's considered. Last week was so easy. Giving you the details. Everybody just said acquies. I was in here last what this means. You understand that? Everybody's just acknled for In addition to facing theft charges, they're slapped with a three-year ban from all Walmart locations. Number one, $5,000 check fraud scheme ends in arrest. A woman walks into a bank thinking she's about to walk out with $5,000. She hands over a check, confident that everything will go smoothly. But before she knows it, the bank staff flags the check as suspicious, and calls the police. Hello. Hey, how are you? So, you're going to come with me for a second, okay? You have any weapons on you? No. I'm going to explain everything to you here in a minute. All right. Okay. Okay. So, they're saying they were trying to pass a bad check. Okay. No, I'm not trying to pass. I I understand that's we're going to get everything figured out. All right. Okay. So, if you want to sit in the backseat of my car, do you have any weapons on you? I don't have anything on you. Okay. That's my life. Okay. I'm going to get everything back. I promise you. Okay. Yeah. So, what's So, they they're telling me that the check looks fraud. And I don't even know. But you don't know? No. And I don't. And everything in here, man, I have lived before. And that's even too Everything here has my name on it. Nobody else but mine. Okay. Hang tight with the hill right quick. Okay, let me She insists everything is legitimate, even providing her ID to prove her identity. Will the officers fall for it? Let's find out. Hey. Hey. Uh, what what's going on? I've been working for a home and I came to cash a check. Okay. And he says it looks like it's fraud, but I don't do nothing for her. Everything in here is mine and with my name on it. And I've been working a whole month. A whole month. Everything in here has my name on it. Who Who you been working for? Charles. Charles. Charles. Charles. What have you been doing for Charles? Cleaning the car. I I got kids. I got Why would he give me a That's not good. Okay. What's his name on the track? I don't even know. I didn't even I thinking that I just been working and then this is it. I didn't think I had to check anything. I just finally got freaking paid over after a month that said I I wouldn't do nothing for it cuz this is who I am. How much was he supposed to pay you? He's supposed to pay me $4,400 over a month. Okay. And then that's And that's how much the check was for? Yeah, it was. Yeah. And but was his name on the check? No. Not even I'm looking and thinking no it's not. I never think you know you work for somebody. You don't think you have to even check nothing. You just go to work and you get paid. I don't What kind of cleaning were you doing? Like for a business for him or Yeah, for a business for him that's just now been to get ready to open up. Where at? And that's indicator. Indicator. Yeah, that's indicator, Georgia. Okay. I had to come all the way out here. Why did you have to come out here? Because there's no stop indicator. Oh, okay. Yeah, there is none. This is the closest one. Yeah. I don't have one of these indicator where I stay right by the campground county jail. Okay. And how did you get here? I called an Uber. You got an Uber? More money. That's what I'm saying. What's I wouldn't come out here like that. I got you. Well, just let them talk to whoever they need to talk to from the bank and we'll try to get it sorted out. Okay. Yeah. You said you said his name was Charles. While the officers talk to her, the bank runs a check on the account. Okay. But I snuck up on her. She said she's passed a fake license and a fraud check. So, I'm not sure. I'm trying to Is it a Charles? Uhhuh. Okay. But you're on the phone. You're on the phone with him now, though. Yes. This check cleared. That account already, that same check number. It clear it cleared his account already. Yes. But to a different person for a different amount. So, honestly, we don't know what's going on. Is it is it the driver's license you try to use? Yeah, this is why she passed to me. She didn't That don't look like from the distance I was at. I don't That's what her social says, but yeah. Um, do y'all have y'all don't have access to like see what this check was written for before? Can y'all can see all that stuff? That's what she's trying to verify though, so we don't know. Okay. Which I mean there's no way that you can write two checks with the same check number. So see what's weird is she's from and this person is from Smyrna. Why they're here in Winder cuz we have offices in the market. Mhm. Okay. Let's see what she says. He's going to limp on me. What do you think? I I don't think it's him. You don't think it's the customer? I don't think it's the customer. Yeah. I don't think it's the customer. He's telling me that he issued both of the checks. They both have the same number on them. He's telling me that his grandson brought him up. That sound like an older guy. No, it sounds like a young guy. And this guy gets social security. That did not sound This guy gets social security. And he sounds like I'm not that young, but he sounds my age. Okay. or younger. It turns out the same check number was already cashed 2 days earlier by someone else entirely and he's saying, "Oh, yeah. I" But he he knows all the information on the account, which is not uncom, which is not uncommon if they get a hold of an older person's information. And he's like, "Oh, yeah. Well, I I I wrote both of those checks out and yeah, she did a service for me." I said, "Well, what service did she do? Oh, well, I have a I have an expense report right here. Yeah. Yeah. And I wrote that for her. I said, "Well, what about this check right here to this Janna?" Cuz that's the same that's the same check number. It's the exact same check number and it was wrote to the Jana. I can print this for you. Can you is check. Do you see how it looks like it's altered? See how it's actually looking and look this says expense reimbursement. Okay. That that is too much red flags here. And I Yeah. Yeah. He's from Smeirna and I The customer is the customer the account holder is from Smyrna. Yes. Okay. And I said, um, and she's, I mean, she's from the cab, too. I don't know why she would be able to live longer, right? And I asked I said, do you, you know, do you, look, he writes checks. They're only small dollar amount. There's nothing that's ever Okay. It's just So, what it sounds like to me is she's got a hold of the They got a hold of his checks. His checks and wrote and there's Yeah. And there I I have a feeling there's something that's going on. And especially when they have expense written on that, the deeper they dig, the more obvious it becomes. She's been deceiving them the whole time. Yeah. See how it just looks weird? Mhm. And that's a different check all together. You can tell from the size that's a different font. And this was deposited at Bank of America. Yeah. See, look. That's a different quality. You can tell that was Cuz I've never seen any of our checks be ripped from the bottom. All of our checks ripped from the top. I'm saying the checkbook I have from here is he ripped it from the top. Well, you see how uneven that is. And the check. And I asked, did he order the checks from us through Harlon Clark? And he said, "Yeah." And I looked at the check order. That was back in 2022. And he said, "Well, my grandson just brought them to me. I didn't realize they ordered it with the same check number. What is the chance that you write the same check number?" because it would have kept in our system and would have automatically progressed to the next check number. Correct. Yeah. And then I said, "Well, can I put you on hold cuz I need to ask another question." Oh, I got I got places to go and I got things to do. I don't have time for your stuff. You know, this don't feel right. Okay. Yeah. I just put in a So, she is uh obviously passing a check that was written to somebody about it. So, she is saying that this is hers. Yeah, she is. She said that Charles wrote her a check for some cleaning that she did for him. Um, but what I'm gathering nice cleaning. Yeah. So, from what I'm gathering, it looks like she's uh and he told me it was an it was an expense invoice cuz this check y'all said has already cleared out of his account. Correct. And and it cleared when cleared yesterday. It cleared yesterday. Okay. I'll tell Do you want us to do the bolo? Okay. Okay. Angela, can you do the bolo and copy in that accounting branch and Carol and Renee? And then we need to do FIU. A closer look at the check reveals even more inconsistencies, leaving no doubt. This is a clear case of check fraud. Fun time. Fun time to commit a felony. Like I said, we are and she already has one out of the cab county. Yeah. That's why for us I don't know what they're for, but I'm going to guess she's probably from Well, and that's what makes it stand out for us because when they're here. Yeah. It's awfully awfully strange. Ranches in Atlanta, right? And that person is from Smyrna and Ben with us like nah. Well, especially when he gets cocky with me too about And like I said, that sounds like my husband. Why are you calling? That sounds like a 45-year-old man. Yeah. Yeah. I feel like that sounds so scary. I feel like this truck is smaller than the ones I got from here. Uh-huh. And like I said, you can tell it's been cut like it's uneven, right? So, we need Oh, yeah. It is uneven. Yes. And it feels weird. Okay. Thank you. All right. Well, I'm going to go outside and take care of this. So, thank you. Thank y'all. Do y'all need that case number? Oh. All right, man. Go on and step out for me. Okay. Let me have that wallet. Turn around for me. I'm going to explain everything to you here in just a second. Right now, you're under arrest. Okay. With all the evidence stacked against her, the police place her under arrest for forgery. Tell you here in just a second. Where your boys at? I'm the only home I came in school. Listen to me. What school I go to? I get back there. Junior in middle school and in elementary. I got five boys. That's what I was telling. I don't have nothing on me. Okay, we're going to walk to the front of my car. Come here. No, I don't do nothing. Everything. Walk to the front of my car for me. Uber to come back here. You want to dis charges? Okay. I wouldn't do anything. So, listen. I'm making sure. I don't I don't I don't do anything. So, listen. I told you I was going to be honest with you. Okay. Yes. The check that you were trying to pass was written to somebody else two days ago and just cleared their checking account two days ago. Okay. That check that you tried to pass. But it was not me. It wasn't me though. completely fake check. But when it was not me and Charles wrote me the check and I told her, ask for the gun. I did the work that I was supposed to do. I did. You're going to have a court date. I did the work explain everything. I did do the work I was supposed to do. And why am I going to jail if I was set up? If somebody did a check, would you be correct? Despite her protests, the officers make it clear she'll have to explain her side in court. I go to jail now. Yes, ma'am. Why? What is the charge? Fory. Forgery. Corporate. I don't ever I can't make a B. I can't do anything. Corpora, please. Actually, I have an account here. And that check she was trying to pass is completely fake. Our our checks from here ripped from the top out of a checkbook. Yeah, that one ripped from the bottom and it's like completely cut crooked. Um the same check number got written by to another person on the 8th and it just cleared their account yesterday on the 8th. They deposited at Bank of America and um so they called there's there's more to the story that's going on. They called the account holder and they were like I don't think it's him. Um cuz the account holder was like, "I wrote that check to a Cathy person." And then I guess it was just a mistake. I had the same check number. Yeah. And they were like, "Sir, that's not how that works." And he was like, "Oh, I don't have time for your click." So they were like, "I don't think it was him." Yeah. So either way, she passed. Yeah. I'm not sure what she was wanted for, but I'm I'm assuming fraud. Yeah, it's cut it's cut completely different. And I mean, you can So, they said that the copies that they gave me is the exact size, which are the exact size of the text that come from here. And just like that, she's in the back of a patrol car headed to jail. So you can tell this is the real look at it. It's kind of like thinner on this side. So got a feeling she's about to get high in the car. Yep. We'll show you. What am I supposed to do? Well, you're going to have to get up here and talk to the people from the jail and see what your bond's going to be and all that good stuff. Being out to the jail, one female 376. You would just pretty outrage in the back seat. I came all the way out here. You don't understand. I'm not guilty. Nobody wrote me this. Okay. And like I like I explained to you, you're going to have to tell all that to the judge whenever you get seen. Dispatch has been updated. Like all my ID belongs to me. Everything belongs to me. Corporal. I don't have a no fraud thing going on. Please. Oh god. Please. Why? Why? I'm way out here in nowhere. How'd you get out here? Huh? How'd you get out here? I got a Uber for 76 bucks. I thought that the check was real. But what did you come to Winder for? Because we don't have cell states in the cab. They have cell states in Atlanta? No, we do not. We do not like Google. I don't believe nobody gets this nowhere. Even during the ride to the station, she refuses to back down, insisting she's just a victim in all of this. Where am I going? How many people do these do? I do work in there right and they get in trouble. This is not cool. I got [ __ ] to do and nobody to come get me. Nobody to come get me. How long will I stay here? My voice depend on me and I work. I have work. I work for this money. I work. Where am I going? Why? What am I doing? I want to say why you don't believe me please. Did you know you had warrants out of the cab? They don't want me. Anytime they pull my don't want me. Okay. In the end, she's charged with forgery and booked for existing warrants. A harsh lesson learned. Scams might pay for a moment, but consequences last a lifetime. Drop your thoughts in the comments.
