Wait till you see my body came. She would see me coming. >> Oh man. >> I don't know. She was she was calling for someone's help on the dot and I don't know if she passed anything off over there or what, >> but she was literally like yelling for someone's help. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> We're trying to figure out. The bartender tells deputies the missing vape [music] pen is his and walks them through what happened. >> You got a cold got a cold beer in here. >> It's definitely like we try to solve the problem, but >> Well, there's cold beer for sure. >> And it's all right. And what are we looking for specifically? >> Just a little vape pen, little cartridge, vape pen. Super simple. And I'm not even worried about the money factor. It's just the the fact that matter, you know. I just put on the table and someone stole it from me. >> So, do you want >> I asked her randomly. >> Do you want to press charges or do you want your stuff back? >> Oh, yeah. No, I'll press charges because we asked her simply like if she want us to solve the problem, just give it back. And she ran out. She didn't even know how to get outside the bar. And I told her like, "Listen, you're you're looking almost. >> I said, "Listen, you're looking at a miss." I I explained it to her. I said, "Listen, I'm allowed to have it. You're not allowed to have this. Like, you're not going to get away with this." >> Well, yeah, since she's on something else. She's literally ran, >> right? And I think she's staying somewhere in the marina here because she was yelling for someone's help over there. I don't know if she passed the pen off to them or threw it in the water. I'm not even worried about the pen. It's just the fact of the matter. >> Yeah, I hear you. I hear you. You know, I don't I don't like people stealing anything from me as much as you like people stealing. >> Yeah, I hear you. Um, do you have access to the video cameras here or No, >> I do not myself. >> Yeah, cuz that So, that's going to be the issue is if if she doesn't have the property on her, >> that's fine. Did she steal one from the bar or >> No, she Well, first of all, she has a tag that she hasn't paid. >> Yeah, cuz there there's a there's a can in her bag. I don't know if it's Coke. I don't know if it's Sprite, beer. >> I was looking at it cuz I was like, who left this here? I think it's >> But we have her phone. Like, when she stole my pen, she left her phone on the table. Yeah, I have her phone. >> We got her phone at the bar and I went to high school with him. So, I was like, we know each other. We're not going to each other. It's like >> I don't know. Like, >> no, she's just >> Well, let's see. Let's see if she has it or if she's willing to let us search everything, >> of course. Yeah, >> but trespass. >> All right. You want her trespass? >> All right. >> Yeah. I apologize. I never wanted you guys to waste your time on this. >> Never even called. >> It is what it is. We're going to get you on. We're going to have both of you guys fill out a statement and we'll go from there. Right. >> So, just just You got your IDs on you by any chance or no? >> Or what? >> Uh, yeah, please. And then if you can bring her property that's that's here so we can >> I think she's got everything with her. >> Okay. >> Just the phone. Her phone is there. David. >> Oh, that's right. Yeah, her phone's back there. >> Yeah. Yeah. Get her phone and bring it over. >> Can you take me back? I'm trying to have a conversation with But you're But you're acting >> I I actually >> Can we have Can we have a Can we have a conversation? >> You're not making me feel safe. >> Okay. Ma'am, I'm Sergeant Brady. The sheriff's office. >> You let me go. >> Listen. >> N Sacramento, California. >> Sheriff. >> Sergeant Sergeant Brady. Sergeant Brady literally is having me in my handcuffs. >> Can I explain things to you? >> Reason. >> There is a reason. Okay. >> Sacramento, California. I live in California. Let this this guy, Sergeant Brain, >> are you staying with him at your hotel? >> The woman continues questioning why officers are concerned about her hotel arrangements, saying it has nothing to do with them. The sergeant calmly responds that while she may not think it's relevant, it does affect the decision he's about to make. >> What? >> Are you staying with anyone at your hotel? >> Why does that matter? >> It matters because I don't want to leave you by yourself alone. >> Actually, that has nothing to do with you. >> I mean, it doesn't, but it it has what to do with my decision what I'm going to make. >> I think that then you should tell me why you think that. >> Okay. So, listen. Here's the deal, okay? We were called here because a person wearing a green dress was accused of taking something off of >> The sergeant explains that although she matches the description of [music] the suspect, there isn't enough evidence to arrest her for theft at that point. >> Okay, >> that's I'm just telling you what was you. Okay, I get here, you're you're you're running around the outside, you're wearing a green dress, so you meet the description of someone who could have stolen something from here. Yes, >> I didn't steal anything. >> I'm not saying you did. I'm saying you meet the description, Ma'am. Ma'am, I'm saying you meet the description of someone that did steal it. Okay. >> I didn't steal anything. >> Okay. That's your story. >> Look on my Look at my person. Look at my person. >> I looked in your purse. I don't have it. I didn't see anything. >> I don't have anything because I don't [ __ ] Correct. That's my person. Look at my person. >> Correct. But that's why you're in handcuffs cuz we're doing an investigation. All right. So, listen. I'm not taking their word for it. Okay? So, right now, you're not going to jail for petty theft. Okay? You are intoxicated. All right. Which, you know, it is what it is. I'm trying to get you to a safe place, but I don't think I I don't want to leave you by yourself being this drunk. Okay. You >> can Can you then walk me up to my hotel, please? And my friend will like open the door and he will let me in. And that's like 100%. >> Okay. Where are you staying? >> In the Holiday Inn. >> Okay. Do you know what room number you're staying at? If you let me in the holiday in, >> I will call someone up. >> Okay. Now, just so you know, from this point forward, too, what's going to happen is tomorrow, we're going to get video footage here. >> Okay? And if you did, in fact, take something from the bar. You may or may not have a warrant for your all the video. I promise you I didn't take anything. If you didn't take, >> I 100% promise you I didn't take anything because I don't steal. >> Okay? >> I'm I didn't steal anything. And you can look at the video. That's okay. >> All right. >> I 100% agree. And that's we'll take you and you you you look at the video. That's fine. I didn't take anything. >> All right. What's your first name? >> I already told you my first name. >> You told them you didn't tell me. >> Since she appears heavily intoxicated, the sergeant decides it's safer to take her back to her nearby hotel instead of leaving her to wander around alone. >> Marissa. >> Thank you, Marissa. Listen, you're gonna stay in handcuffs until we get you to Holiday in because that's our policy for driving in the car. All right? You're really close by the Holiday Inn and then we'll get you to your room. When you when you get out of the car, we'll take the handcuffs off of you. Okay? And then you can go to your room. All right? We're going to make sure you get in your room safely. We have body cameras on and >> that's fine. Have your cameras. Have your >> I'm just letting you know. >> I didn't do anything. I understand why you why why >> I I explained to you you were accused of stealing something. >> But I didn't steal anything. You You looked >> but you looked in my car. >> That's why you're going back to the hotel. >> I don't steal. Steal, girl. Like, why would I steal? >> Marissa, >> that just makes sense. >> If we caught you stealing, you'd be going to jail right now. Okay. But we didn't. So, you're going back to the hotel. >> All right. So, sit tight. You'll be back there in a minute. Yeah. Listen, so without without obviously finding the vape pin, I mean, I I like I I take arresting someone and taking their civil rights away pretty serious. Yeah. So, not that I don't believe you guys, it's just I I mean, if you were accused of something and I didn't and I I didn't have enough of what I thought would be proof. I know you guys have some witnesses. You guys >> So, so with that, I'm going to wait till the video. We'll do a warrant for her arrest, but uh you'll get a case number here in a minute. I'm going to have you fill out a statement form and then and then we'll call it. Did you guys saw her steal it? >> They weren't. They were playing pool. No, they literally literally >> kissing it and then my other friend was literally talking to her right next to me. >> I want to give it back. She put it down like if she didn't have it. She was >> and she wrote out like she left her phone on the table and then >> you saw her take it and then put it down. >> No, she didn't put it down. She grabbed it from them and then she like put it like she put her. Meanwhile, another officer continues gathering more details from [music] the bartender and the other employee about what happened. >> And she wouldn't >> and they were like, "Okay, are you going to, you know, are you going to give it back?" And she's like, "What are you talking about?" You know, >> and I'm not going to put my hands on anybody. She's like, "This isn't your >> especially looked at me." She's like, >> "As much as I wanted to to grab my bag, I'm not saw you take it. Just get it back to him. It's okay. It's no problem." She's like, "I don't know what you're talking about. This isn't his." I'm like, "Oh." That's when I realized that lady was >> That's when I tried to explain to her. I was like, "Listen, I'm allowed to have that and you're not." You know, like >> it is what it is. But then she came behind the bar and we like, "Dude, hey lady." >> Yeah. She seemed like she was Yeah, she's definitely >> belligerent and out of control. >> I called my car's right over there. So, I I'll get a statement form for you and and you and then we'll >> help. >> That's fine. Call security now, please. >> Hey, what's the room number? >> You don't need to know that cuz I'm not under arrest. >> We're going there anyways. What's the room number? >> No, you can't walk me there. No. No. I need to do that. >> I need to see our ID. >> Yeah. >> If we don't if we don't find who he is, >> they're not going to let you in the room. >> And if you keep causing issues, >> you're going to get trespass from here. >> Okay. >> Okay. That's fine. >> I'm trying to I'm trying to help you to get in the room. I really am. I don't want to take you to jail. I don't want to do anything. >> Okay. That's what I'm telling you. If you knock in a door, >> if she has the key to the room, can she get in? >> I do have a key. >> She has a key to the room. >> Trying to help. I'm trying to help you. And you're making it so difficult. >> I'm sorry. Do you mind going in front of me, please? >> No, I don't like people behind me. Officers then escort the woman to her hotel room. But instead of making the process easy, she reacts like this. >> Your hands up. >> I don't have to. I don't like people walking behind me. Go to your room, please. I already told you. >> Here we go. I see that you have a camera on. >> Okay, perfect. >> Hands are out. >> My camera's always on. >> I got I got a witness here, too. So, it's okay. You keep going. >> Well, I don't want to get shot because I love my life. >> Yeah. >> I love my life. All right, we're good. But he's coming from the city and there's a lot of traffic. So, we are going to be standing for a while. Um, >> as they wait for the city officer to arrive, deputies ask the woman to stay outside while they examine her truck for signs of damage. >> Where's the damage? [snorts] >> Front end. >> I did not hit anybody in this vehicle. It's dirty. It's got paint splatters. Well, you didn't have to do all that. So, >> it was a lot easier to just uh let me hand you your phone so I could put the bed up. But now you're going to have your own investigation with us. So, that's sweet. >> Yeah. >> All right. Let's go. >> No, no. He Victor's still going to come and interview her. You don't want put in the car real quick. >> Well, >> he wants me to stand in here and be embarrassed in front of my neighbors. >> Well, you didn't have to go do all that, did you? >> That's not what I said. >> No, you could have just, you know, let us put up the tailgate and not resisted us, but you had to go and do that. So, >> yeah, I don't I don't really care. >> I did not resist. I >> You most certainly did. No, you most certainly did. No. >> Yeah, >> that's okay. >> I don't really care that your sister was on the phone. That was not a big deal to me. You could have stayed there on the phone. I would have handed you your phone back. Um instead, you reach and grab something out of my hands. And that right there, that's the issue. Okay. Um so, you're going to have your own investigation with the city. Um and you're also going to have your investigation with us. Okay. I'm going to let officer Aguello come here and do his investigation and then from there either he can choose to put you in his car or put you in my car. Um I don't really care. >> Who are you to her? >> Just a friend. >> Okay. >> Just wondering what's going on. >> Yeah. Um so >> we just go inside and let the dogs out. We just go inside and let the dogs out. Close both patio doors so they don't come this way. Officer, the only thing I asked, can we step 1142? >> The deputy reminds the woman that none of the additional charges would have happened if she had simply allowed him to handle the phone instead of trying to take it back. >> You already added her. >> Yeah. >> Oh, disregard staying on one. >> No, you're good, my love. Thank you. Jesus scratch out of me. >> Are you going to be cool if I just let you stand here? >> Yes. >> All right. >> Sergeant's cool with her going on resisting for scratching me. I mean, essentially badly up >> at at the very least. >> At the very least. What's uh I have to apologize for snatching my phone. >> Yeah, I was going to say >> I was I was going to like if he's going to take her and then >> you know we could do like a warning. >> Are those prescription eyewear? >> Okay. >> You require you need them to see >> or do you need them to drive? >> No. Well, that means I can take them off when she goes in the car. >> All right. [snorts] >> I can give you a little quick rundown. Um, long story short, vehicles suspected to be involved in a hidden run, whatever, injuries, guys on Trauma Star, city's investigation, not my investigation. Legally to detain that person, hold them for the city to come interview them. She's recording me. Don't care. That's cool. She's on the phone with her sister. Don't care. That's cool. I'm recording. You can record. You know, it's not a big deal. I went to go grab the phone to shut the tailgate to make sure there's no damages on there as well. Again, part of my investigation and assisting another agency. Grabs the phone, scratches me. So, she's going for Bat Leo and then whatever charges the city decides. Right now, she's standing like this cuz this is aiding in their investigation. >> Do you see a scratch, Gage? >> You want to see? >> Look, show him again. Show him the scratch. No, show him the scratch that you're claiming is a scratch. >> I will. She continues explaining why she reached for the phone, insisting she never scratched the deputy and never meant to resist. >> I grabbed my phone, Gage. My sister was recording the call. I said, "That's mine." I grabbed my phone. >> As long as you remain cool, I don't care that you're right here. >> I just wanted my sister to record what was happening. >> That was it. I grabbed my phone. >> Okay. And then you proceeded to batter. >> I did not scratch you in any way, shape, or form. >> Yeah. But then you also resisted me, so it's okay. Well, >> I'm trying. >> Just wanted to come home from work. >> Yeah. Well, now you're looking at possible felony charges. So, >> officer, as the sun is going down, I am starting to get cold just standing here. >> You're fine. >> Okay. >> I work on a boat. My pants are still wet from the day. >> Asking you. >> You'll be all right. >> Okay. Thank you. This none of this would have happened if you just >> didn't reach for my phone. I didn't scratch him. >> No, you did. I >> Oh, okay. >> Both of us saw it happen and then you resisted me. So, it's >> I started to me I literally kept my Okay, >> it's fine. >> So, I able to take your phone and belongings or >> not right now. Not at this timebody know. >> That's fine. As long as you're cool, you're good to stand there. All right. But these things are part of the investigation at this point. >> I heard him on the phone say he was going to plant on me. So, just so you know. >> Yeah, I know this guy. >> It's always at traffic court. >> Yeah. >> Oh, I'm surprised he does. >> Okay. So, I'm officer. I was dispatched cuz um there was a bicyclist down in Key West. Okay. And uh before I talk to you, I'm just going to tell you your rights. Okay, just so you're aware. >> You understand each right? >> Yes, sir. >> I've explained to you with these rights in mind, you wish to talk to me? >> No, sir. >> After the woman invokes her right to remain [music] silent, the city officer immediately ends the interview and asks no further questions about the suspected hit and run. All right. >> Are you the one driving me >> to what? >> The jail. >> Uh, there's another officer coming right now. She's going to talk to you here in a second. >> Yes, sir. >> Thank you. >> Just leave it right there for me, please. >> Will you write down my mom's number? >> You just I'm going to try to get the jacket on to her. >> Hm. >> She wants a jacket. >> I'm I promise I've been genuinely freezing. I've been wet all day at work. I'm genuinely cold. O'Neal. Pleasure. >> Nice to meet you. Um, so officer or excuse me, Deputy PBO let me know that you made initial contact. When you made initial contact with the female, was she in the vehicle or was she out of the vehicle? >> She was driving the vehicle when I saw I saw her pull up. >> Okay. Okay. So, you were already here and you saw her pull up there. Okay. All right. That's all I wanted to ask. I'm going to go see if I can speak with her. See if I can get anything like that. I understand that she invoked um >> Yeah, she did. She when she got here, she told me that she got into a verbal altercation with a gentleman >> and she was just trying to get home from work, I guess, from the city. >> Okay. >> Um, but she wouldn't go into further detail as to as to what. And I didn't really want to ask her to, >> you know, ask her anything further in case there was a, you know, to jeopardize the investigation or anything like that. >> I'll see if she's willing to speak with me. I'll introduce myself and then I'll ask if she's willing to speak with me at this point. If she says no, that'll be it. So um >> thank you. >> No worries. >> Hello ma'am police department. I understand that my partner has already advised you of your Miranda rights at this point in time. Knowing having those rights in mind, are you willing to speak with me at this point in time? No. Okay. All right. >> Swap cuffs. Yeah. All right. All right. >> No worries. >> She's arrested for the alleged battery [music] on the deputy and resisting during the detention. While the city police continue investigating the suspected hit and run involving the injured bicyclist. Bar staff had enough of this woman. That's not how that works. >> She was going out that door looking for the people that she threat. >> She was going to run over with that. >> Right now, no one is out there though flagging us down. That's why I'm trying to figure out who actually >> is there any way that you can go and and >> we're talking to her right now, but my job >> we'll investigate that further. But right now, my job is to see if there's anyone in here who is willing to be a victim and press charges cuz that determines how much what we what we're going to do out there cuz I don't want her to get, you know, hurt or anything if I don't have and it's not something that you I'm going to keep looking. Don't address me when I'm with my children. I'm by myself. I have no men. >> Two men address me. Two grown men. I'm 37 years old. The woman, on the other hand, explains that she's also frustrated because another customer called her out in front of her children, which she believes only made the argument worse. >> Come on, man. Hey, you're not going to address me with my children. >> They were trying to undress you. >> No, address me. >> Quit playing with my words. >> I just couldn't. >> Don't do that. I said address. You heard me. I said address. >> Why would I say they want to address me? >> Well, Dominique, we're just trying to figure it all out. Okay. >> Yeah, don't do that. That's rude. >> That was rude when she did fit. >> I thought they were being rude, >> [ __ ] I don't need my green card. >> Yeah, >> I don't like that. I'm very upset. >> I thought she was going to attack somebody. >> Okay. >> Whether it be me or whatever. >> Well, she was threatening that she had a gun. She was threatening to hit us with a car. So, because I didn't see one, I don't know if she didn't have one. >> So, did you feel personally threatened? >> Of course, I felt threatened. >> Okay, sir. I understand that you were involved. >> Yes. >> Okay. Can you tell me what happened? >> She just she's just yelling and screaming at everybody. >> Okay. Did she make any personal threats to you? >> She did. She threatened to hit me with her car when I went outside. >> Okay. >> I was more concerned for her kids. >> Okay. When uh given everything that happened in mine, so you felt your personal safety was in jeopardy? >> No, I felt her kids safety was in jeopardy. I didn't >> You didn't feel personal? >> No, I want to provide a statement, a recorded statement. >> No. >> No. Okay. All right. Thank you. I'm going to go find this other lady I talked to. >> Okay. >> Well, I appreciate you just hanging in with us, Dominique. >> Yeah, >> we'll get this figured out. >> No problem. I don't care. I listen. I'll cooperate. >> I'm not one of those citizens. >> And and I will be the and go do my time. >> If it wasn't for these boys, then nobody will be safe. If I didn't have kids, nobody would be safe. If I didn't have kids, I would be a party a long time ago. >> What else are you up to today, Dominique? Besides Safeway, >> I got to go uh my godmother and my uncle who's a US Navy vet. I have to go take them the ground beef, their bread, and the organic bananas that she asked for. >> As the conversation goes on, she acknowledges that she made multiple threats during the incident. >> Is there anything else? Cuz now I got to go take her ground beef. >> Got it. >> Cuz she asked for it. >> We have someone possibly detained. This person may or may not be the person responsible. It was important to uh identify those who are innocent as well as those who are guilty. Okay. >> So, who are we waiting on you guys? >> The person say, >> "Oh, okay." And I did make a lot of threats. I told the girl, she was up on me. I told her if she didn't back up, I will shoot her. I did say that. >> Do you have weapons on you now? >> No. >> Okay. But I'mma do what I got to do. What do you mean her back up? Thank God my best friend told me not to purchase a weapon. The mental health told me not to get a weapon. >> Hey Paul, can you just have a look at Starbucks really quick? Right there. Uh, >> yep. >> Okay, perfect. Thank you. 46, we pause. >> I don't even got no water. I can't breathe. One of you guys got water I'm about to throw up. >> Yeah, >> my blood pressure is high. >> We can get you something. >> When I'm in a manic episode, my blood pressure rises. I don't want to pass out. Please. >> Cuz I I will tell you right now, you are under arrest for harassment. >> Okay, >> take the kids. Call CPS. Let me ask somebody to come get my kid. >> Okay, >> hold on. >> Okay, we can let you do that. >> Yeah. >> Do you have any other weapons on you right now? >> She's been advised. She's under arrest. >> Don't touch me yet. Let me have them get my kids. >> Call some kid. There's two kids in the car. >> Yeah, I got to have somebody come get my kids. >> Yeah, no worries. >> Yeah. >> Sorry to interrupt. I got a phone call. >> Cuddy, I'm going to jail. I'm at the 320th at Safeway. I was getting something for your mom to bring it to her, but a white man approached me. A white man approached me and a lady. I threatened them. Now I'm getting arrested for harassment. >> I have the kids in the car. Do you Is Liz home? >> Hey Dominique, >> where's Liz? >> Okay. >> I don't have her number. I need somebody to come get the >> says just side and release. >> I'm about to go to jail. >> So you guys can clear. >> After hearing everyone's side of the story, officers inform the woman she's under arrest for harassment. She asks if someone can help take [music] care of her children and is given the chance to call family members. >> All right, let me call back. >> We have one cooperative and other people who are cooperative, so he's not willing to go. >> Hold on. I'm sorry. Let me call him back. They said they're not taking me. It's all good, Cy. They're not taking me. >> No, I'm about to take your mom her bread and her ground beef and I'm going home sight if you have her [clears throat] identified. >> Okay. What do you want me to do that? >> No, I got the site. >> Yeah. I'll see you later. >> Thank you. >> Okay, bye. >> Date. Fine. >> We're trying to do you a solid by not taking >> and I respect that. >> We care about the kids. We care about you being present with them. We don't want to traumatize them by watching their mom get arrested, right? >> Um, >> thank you, Officer Paul. >> You're very welcome. Um, so I'm going to work on that. Hanging tight with my partner. That all just >> appreciate you being cool with us. I know it's been frustrating. >> Talking about the enemy, man. Yeah, >> but when somebody listen all that happened to them, people started with me. I was just in there and I accidentally bumped his cart and he thought I yelled at his daughter. >> We're going to get you out of here soon, dumb. >> Thank you. I'm just going to take my auntie her step and I'm going home. You guys will never see me again. I promise. >> I was looking for some special drink that my granddaughter wants uh cuz she had her tonsils out. So, I stopped and asked the manager there and where it was and I guess she thought I was talking about her. I really don't know, but she pointed at me and she said, "I'm I'm going to run you over my car and I have a gun in my car. I'll shoot you all." So, yeah, it was a little intimidating, but it's mostly the children. She was calling the children names and and shaking them in the cart and then she picked one up and threw them in the cart and then the other kid was like, "No, no, I don't want to go." So she grabbed him and she goes, "I know you don't want to, but they're making me." And she just threw them into the cart. It was very upsetting. >> So she looked at you, she pointed at you >> and said, "I'm going to run you. I'm going to wait." She said, "I'm going to wait outside and run you over with my car or I'm going to get my gun and I'm going to shoot you." >> At the same time, another officer continued speaking with the elderly woman who witnessed the confrontation inside the store. I can't believe that and that girl said I was embarrassing her. She sounded like a raccoon in our in our black community. We call those guys raccoons. >> What is that? >> A raccoon is somebody who is, you know, bows down to the government. You know what I'm saying? Obeys law. >> You know, not that I don't obey law, but like you see that these people are in a wrong and you're going to speak up for them. >> You're Was she the one that was involved in all this or just a random >> Yeah. She kind of approached me and was like, "You're embarrassing yourself and our color and >> Oh, wow. >> I care about your kids." I told her, "If she don't back up, I will be." >> Yeah. >> And then she was She spoke to my kids right in front of me. That >> Yeah. >> So, you see why I don't need a weapon and I never will get a weapon. >> I won't survive with a weapon. Nobody will survive with a weapon. Not if I have one. My disorder might tell me to shoot everybody and it ain't even a voice. It's me. Like just shoot everybody. I won't do that though. I have kids. If I didn't have kids, I'd be in prison. >> Dominique, sorry to interrupt you. I know you're on a phone call. Um >> Cuddy, I'm going to jail. I'm at the 320 Safeway. I was getting something for your mom to bring it to her, but a white man approached me. A white man approached me and a black lady. I threatened them. Now I'm getting arrested for harassment. I have the kids in the car. Do you Is Liz home? >> Kill everybody inside. >> Hey Dominique, >> where's Liz? >> Okay, >> I don't have her number. I need somebody to come get the boy. >> I'm about to go to jail. >> The woman is ultimately arrested and charged with harassment. [music] In the end, it's not the officers who got them into trouble.
