Number four. Caught stealing with a stroller, she chose violence over accountability. At a Nordstrom store, officers are called after a suspected shoplifter assaults a loss prevention officer. Here's what happens when they arrive. [Applause] Hey, just let you know audio and video recorded. >> Just so you know, my body camera is audio and video recording. >> Um, >> hello. >> We don't have her name. Don't know if you can get that for us. >> Okay. So, >> she didn't want to talk. >> This is going to go out standing. Uh, can you run me through what happened? So, we got a call that um that she had two of our minis, which were these >> these right here. And um we watched her walk around. Um I seen her select this right here. She selected these two and she was with another um Caucasian male that had this stuff right here. >> Okay. >> And they they both went upstairs to women's lingerie. Um they were walking around active. She grabbed a few more items. Um they were both headed to the fitting room. They the ladies let them know that we don't allow males in the woman's funeral room. So he did hand this stuff to her. Okay. >> She took this stuff in the room. Of course I was in the fitting room next to her, worked it, and she went out the pin room. I checked the pin room. There was nothing in there besides the hangers that were hanging up behind the mirror. >> Okay. >> Where she put them. And um we watched her walk down. She walked through men a couple times, grabbed some more items, but left it at the register. >> As she approaches the second set of doors, a loss prevention officer stops her. Initially, she avoids using force, but she resists. >> Um, I let her walk out the first set of doors. She was getting ready to walk out the second set. I approached. I showed her my badge and everything. Um, I wasn't going to cuff her at first until she was like trying to walk away. And I couldn't hold her in the stroller, so I just let the stroller go. I grabbed her. I had her against the wall. She said, >> "Are you police?" I said, "I'm not police, but if you keep resisting, I will put the cuffs on you." And she started resisting. She pushed me right here. She pushed me back and when she pushed me back, she kicked me in my stomach. >> Okay. >> That's when I got upset and Shayla came. Shayla came and helped me and I grabbed her by her arms and I put her against the wall. We got her in. >> Was the male with her at the same time or >> No, we lost him. We couldn't watch both of them. But I was >> What was the deal with the stroller? She had >> She had everything in the stroller. Don't put the baby in there. >> Cool. Hey, so uh I'm officer Salt. You want to get squirrely with me? I'm going to use reasonable necessary force, right? >> I am the police. So, uh I'm going to take these off here. Stay seated. Okay, >> you can stand up and face that wall for me. >> I'm pregnant. >> Okay, I'll stand. >> How far along are you? 68. >> Nice. Congratulations. You want two separate cops or is one fine? >> Okay. So, I need you to listen to something while I do this. All right. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in a court of law. You have the right this time to talk to a lawyer and have them present with you while you're in question. Got a to hire a lawyer. One will be appointed to represent in court question if you wish. Decide at any time to exercise these rights and not answer any questions or make any statements. Do you understand your rights, ma'am? Is that vertical head nodding mean? Yes. During the arrest, she claims she's pregnant and refuses to give her name. Let's see what the officer has to say about that. >> Why does a knucklehead today? >> He's not. >> How do you know? >> You know what he's up to right now? >> No. No. Nothing. So, here's the deal. >> Uh, probably committed a felony today. >> What I can tell is you you don't go to court until you identify, >> right? So, you want to give me your name? >> No. Where's that thing you have at the jail? So, you Okay, that's fine. >> Yeah, she's going to go. But that Let me Let's be clear that that guarantees you go to jail. You understand that, right? Back of my hand. Nothing in your bra, nothing in your pants hidden. >> Is that fair? Okay. Have a seat. >> All this is harvest. >> Is there anything in here that doesn't belong to you? >> Or did they get all their stuff back? >> Okay. So, everything in these all this yours? >> No. Absolutely not. >> You don't want to be cooperative. We're not going to be like I'm not going to make exceptions. And first of all, you just told me you're you're pregnant. 614. I'm code for go in custody no more. >> What are you insane? >> Right. You can say I'm pregnant. Can I have a >> Yo, what's up? >> These were also honored from American Eagle and the thing is foiled. >> Yeah. Yeah. For 100%. So, you know what I'm going to do now, right? I'm going to go to American Eagle. >> I'm going to track this down. You don't get to come to my city and be and expect me to not like turn over every stone to make your life as tough as possible, right? You can't come here and steal and expect us to like turn a blind eye to it. >> What's up? >> Okay, fair enough. [Applause] >> Officers continue questioning the woman and confirmed that everything found in her possession is not hers. >> Um, you caused pain when you got kicked at all >> at the time, but that I'm fine. >> Do you want to see the fire department or anything? >> No, yeah, 100%. I can understand that. >> Yeah. >> So, just to make sure I understand, was the stuff in the cart or she was carrying it? >> It was It was in So, it was in there with the blanket over and then the um one item inside. >> Okay. >> Okay. Cool. And then the two little mini perfumes are inside this purse. >> Okay, sweet. >> Why do you have >> I'll try. I'll talk to you. >> You're good. Yeah, you understand. I'm just going to give them your information at the end of this. Okay, I'm just I'm like fine. >> Yeah, I get it. Um, can I send a video upload link to one of you? >> Good evening, ladies and gent. >> Yeah. What's the ballpark value on this? >> Oh, perfect. Can you email me like the itemized if you have the exact >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Yeah. We just won't be able to print anything because we don't have her information. >> No worries. >> So, I'm just going to let her know since we can't print anything. You will be trespassed from all doors, normal racks, normal online for a period of 2 years. You are going to be prosecuted. So, you're going to >> you're going to have to go to court and all that stuff. Don't go to Nordstrom online. Of course, as you go, do your trespass. >> What's your email? >> So, I'm going to read you something. Okay? And at the end of it, you're just going to tell me if you understand. Okay? As part of the legal process, she's officially trespassed from Nordstrom and the surrounding Alderwood property for 2 years. >> 619 200 Alderwood is a privately owned uh property. As a security officer, I'm a representative of Alderwood. At this time, you're being instructed to leave the property due to a violation of Alderwood's code of conduct. You are here to leave immediately and not to return the day. Alderwood property includes the inside of the mall, the parking lot, and the roads that surround the property. If you return to the property today, you may be arrested for criminal trespass. Does that make sense? Okay. >> All right, ma'am. We're going to walk out. >> I'll come back for the stroll or we'll just do this in two trips. >> Go ahead. >> Unless you want to wheel it out. >> Yeah. >> Sweet. Oh, I punches. You probably want the case number, too. >> Oh, yeah. >> Here's my card. It's 2024-4897. >> Yeah. Thank you. >> Left here. [Applause] [Applause] Yeah, >> it's chilly out here, right? Just grab a seat. Just slide underneath that. I'll come talk to you in a second. With her now secured in the patrol vehicle, the officer checks in with a loss prevention officer to clarify the details of the assault. [Applause] >> Just one quick thing. >> Yeah, of course. >> Totally your opinion. Is it is it your thought she was trying to keep the stuff and that's why she kicked you or was she just did she already abandon it all? Was just >> She was trying to get away. >> Okay. >> So, I think she was trying to get away. I don't know cuz the stroller was sitting like if you watch you see the video you'll see the stroller was just sitting in the middle of the floor like right in this area and I already had her in the corner and she was like are you the police and I was like listen I'm not the police but I can apprehend you if you want to make it difficult I'll pull I'll cuff you and that's when she started getting resistant >> and she shoved me she shoved me from like cuz she was like this in the corner already >> and I already had her arms and she went like that so I the police officer >> in the end the woman is escorted out and charged ed with retail theft and battery while the accomplice is still on the run. Number three, he thought he could steal $1,200 from Home Depot without consequences. Police respond to a call from Home Depot after employees report a suspected theft in progress. A man has been seen placing tools into an empty mirror box, scanning only the box at checkout, and attempting to leave the store. Officers arrive quickly and stop him in the parking lot. Come here. Stop. Stop. Stop. Come on. All right. I'll watch you this whole time. >> I'll watch you. We got it on camera. All right. >> Uh 100%. >> 100%. Where do I go? Back this way. >> All right. Never know. >> Have you seen somebody my side? Really? >> Yeah. >> Oh, yeah. >> Yeah. >> That's on America's Funniest Home. >> Oh, do you want me to go with you? Yep. >> Oh, I thought you said stay right here. >> No, just that. >> Yeah, that's what I was going to say. >> I thought it was going to be under the cops. America's Funniest Home video type thing. You know what I mean? >> I don't know. There there's some big people that run. >> Yeah, some are. >> Deceiving. >> Really? >> Very deceiving. >> You're going to sit in that truck. >> This one. Sorry about that. >> You have your ID on you? >> Uh, >> it's a old one. >> The photo and your name and everything. >> Yeah, it has my name on it. Yep. Right here. >> When was the last time you got arrested? >> Uh, a month and a half ago. >> For what? >> Um, it was nothing related to this. It was uh driving with um license suspended. >> Okay. That's why you have an old one >> cuz you're not supposed to be driving that. >> No, you know what all it is is because of um I didn't pay a fine. >> Yep. >> That's your license for for any of that. >> Well, I found out from being pulled over that it was because of that. >> What's your current address? >> Really shocked that people actually give you guys a hard time with that. That's like mind-blowing, truthfully. Yeah, people run all the time for like even like a tape measure. They steal a tape measure and they want to run through the parking lot. >> I know. I don't know. Maybe it's just listen, we're all human. People make mistakes, but I mean to run to me is like I don't know. >> The man says he's been arrested twice before for retail theft, but hasn't been convicted. >> How many times have you been arrested for retail theft before? >> I think twice. >> Okay. How many times were you convicted of them? >> Uh, I don't think any. >> Okay. >> Cuz I >> was it was it at Home Depot or was it at other stores? >> One was at a Home Depot. >> Okay. >> Um, but the Home Depot one got thrown out. >> Okay. Uh because long story short, my boss, he needed a expansion tank and a garage door opener uh for no gate opener. And he needed it two sets of the water tanks and he needed two of the garage gate openers with four arms in my truck. I can't get all of those in one shot. Okay. So, I was going the night before purchasing it, leaving his credit card on his table. He was calling it in. >> You don't have to explain it. >> No, I'm just telling you. I'm just giving you That's why, but it was it was wind up thrown out. Yeah. >> Yeah. >> You on probation for anything? >> Uh, no. >> No. >> No. I'm not on probation. No. >> Any warrants? >> Negative. Okay. >> No. >> Listen, I'm here. I'm here now. So, I'm telling >> Yeah. Look, I know people have lied to you too before. So, you're going to see I'm just It's uh >> What do you do for work? >> I work on the uh water manes. >> Where at? >> Um >> business out of boxy, my boss. >> But uh it's just been >> hours have been cut domestically. >> Now limited to part-time work, he says he's under financial pressure and facing problems at home. 10 for you. >> Like the water means like in the ground. >> Yeah. Yeah. Water services and stuff like that. Um sewage. >> How long you been working for that? >> Two and a half years. But we're down to like 20 hours right now a week. Just slow. Doesn't justify anything I do. Don't get me wrong, but I'm being honest with you. You know what I mean? >> It's just been a little rough. family issues thing going on too. So >> why is the why is work slow? It's not like a steady >> he's just he's not it's not me. It's whatever work he he gets. You know what I mean? >> Is it So it's a it's a personal company. It's not like for the city or anything like that. >> Correct. It's a personal company. >> We just finished the job last year. It rolled into like a month or two of this year, but it was a full year for Cleston, which invol >> Yeah. and they're not paying. >> If they want to prosecute, obviously depending on the money, you I can either give you if it's low enough, you'll get a notice to appear, you'll get a court date. >> Okay. >> Okay. And then you're also going to be trespassed like simultaneously. >> It's both. And then I have an obligation to >> to go show up in court. Or if if the value is high enough where it's a felony, then you're taking the right to county. >> Okay. Okay. >> What is felony? >> Uh over 700 50. I I have no idea what was in that box. So, >> how much was it, brother? In >> the 900s. >> In the hundreds. >> 900s. >> 900? Really? >> Yeah. Milwauke. >> Yeah, but I thought that's where it said 300 by there. >> Take a step back. I apologize. >> Throughout the encounter, the man remains respectful and honest. He admits that the decision was a mistake and says he's embarrassed by the situation. >> Yeah, maybe >> four. >> Yeah. I'm not going to lie to you. The the time with the Home Depot where it got, they had four. Give you mine. >> As rusty as mine. >> Yeah, cuz I got wet. >> It's going to be very uncomfortable. >> I'm going to lock these on your wrist. All right. You want to tell me what's going on here today? What brought us here? >> Just financial issues back at home. So, >> okay. Go ahead. >> Bad decisions in life. >> Okay. >> That's it. >> Financial issues at home. >> Yeah. >> How did that lead you to coming to Home Depot? >> Just bad decisions. I need a little bit more explanations. I get having financial issues, but why come to Home Depot? Why did you come here today? Looking to hopefully get some tools and hopefully make money or I don't know. I don't know. Wasn't levelheaded to truth. Okay. Then listen, that's completely understandable. We are human beings and we make mistakes, correct? >> Yeah. >> So, mistakes happen. >> Yeah. >> The tools that you said you were looking to get. >> Were those the tools that you put in the box? >> Um, well, it was just tools I was looking at. >> He admits he came to the store planning to walk out with tools he could resell, calling it a bad decision driven by desperation. Okay. What were you planning on doing with those souls? >> I don't know. Put them up for sale or something. I don't know. >> Okay, that's understandable. What's going on um in your life? >> Hours are cut at work. >> Where do you work at? >> I work at uh for a water treatment company. >> That's a private private business. Two years. Okay. >> So, I'm down to right now cuz I work 20 hours. >> Where's that at? >> Uh, up in Los Angeles. >> Have you tried looking for a new job? >> I've been trying to Every time I know it's not it's like every time you try to look for some guess your main jobs, something pops up work-wise, you know, and I I got to be available. It's just I don't know. I I got to figure out how to make more income for my family cuz this is embarrassing to me. >> Truthfully. >> Yeah. >> I'm not proud of this. >> You have kids? How many? >> Two. >> How old are they? >> 16 and 12. >> Yeah, you have big kids. You got to think about them. >> Yeah. >> But this definitely was not the way to go. >> No, it wasn't. >> Is this something you've done before? Have I done this before? I I >> The last time I I thought I did this, I it was thrown out cuz I wasn't stealing. >> Okay. >> Did you pay for any of the items that you walked out with? >> I paid for the box. >> And which box was that? >> Uh It was a brat. >> The officer continues questioning him, working to gather more details about the theft. >> Okay. What did you do with the mirror? >> The mirror's on the shelf. >> Okay. So, you took the mirror out of the box? >> Yeah. >> But kept the sticker on it. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> That's it. >> How did you >> It was cut dry pretty much. >> Okay. Yeah. But did you walk out with the box empty? >> No. >> And how did you pay for the box? >> I scanned it. That's when they uh grabbed it. That's when they went and talked to me. >> Yeah. But was I I'm trying to get the whole story. >> No, I got to I I paid for the box. Scanned it. >> Was there anything inside of the box? >> The things that they saw? >> The tools? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Okay. That's what I was trying to get. >> That's all. >> So, you put the tools inside of the empty mirror box and then you paid for the box. Okay. >> All right. And you said you did this once and it got dropped. >> No, I No, they thought I was stealing one time and it got dropped. >> Where was that at? >> Uh, that was at uh at um It's not It's not Wellington. It's by there. It's the one on 441 over there. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> All right, honey. All right. Anything else you would like to add to your statement? >> No. >> Okay. By the end of the interaction, he's charged with felony theft and trespassed from the property. Number two, cops couldn't believe who was behind the theft ring. Two women are detained after officers catch them allegedly shoplifting from multiple stores in a coordinated retail theft operation. Here's how it all happened. >> Get out of the car. >> Get out of the car. >> Open it right now. >> Get out of the car. >> Open it. >> 10:33. Let's go. >> Let's go. >> Put this down. Put this down. Put it down. You got anything on you? Clean up. Spread your feet. I'll >> check. >> Yeah. >> You see it right here? Oh, I wonder where you got this from. >> It's a security magnet. You take a See, it doesn't close. >> No. So, you can use this to take a security Watch your feet. >> Yeah. So, I came I came around, >> they looked back, saw me this, and they ran in. This is all going to be all the all the merchandise. You just want to pull it over here just to kind of get this driving. >> As officers examine the vehicle, they discover bags labeled from various retailers, including Victoria Secret, Burlington, Dillards, Hollister, Bath & Body Works, and Bells. >> You call? >> Yes, sir. >> You Adonis? >> Yes, sir. >> Yeah. Yeah, bro. They seen they seen us and took off, bro. >> They're in the cars. They're No, no. They're they're in custody. They they're in custody. Yeah, >> these are these are both the >> I was trying to keep camera surveillance and then you straight and I was like, "Can you just verify this real quick?" >> Yes, sir. Yes, sir. That is everything that they bag. >> Do they pay for anything? >> Nothing at all. No, we I watched them bag everything. >> So, none of this was paid for? >> None of this was paid for. >> Okay. Um, do y'all mind running a like? >> Yeah, we'll do it right now. Sweet. I appreciate >> it. Each one had a cart. So, we'll do a separate receipt for each one >> in the video, too. >> Yeah, I got you. >> And worth a ballpark estimate on the value. It's going to be probably over I want over for sure 700. >> Okay. >> So, >> all right. >> Thank you guys. >> Um >> you want to body work nothing from Victoria Secret and the lost French employees not picking up this boat. >> Temple will be 10:15* 2 or 105* 29. >> Yeah, the keys are the keys are up here. But look, if you look inside, there's a huge Victoria Secret bag on the passenger side. Oh. >> Mhm. >> Little bud. Little buddy bud. >> I've seen both of them before, I'm pretty sure, in a bolo. [Applause] Yeah. Yeah, bro. They got like this is all Nike baby clothing and >> baby clothing. They got >> 272. >> Can you also check with Dillards? We have a lot of baby clothing in Dillard's bags >> with the tag still on. >> Yeah. The merchandise includes baby clothes, candles, personal items, and apparel. Much of it with tags still attached. Hey. >> Um, we're probably going to have a organized retail crime situation here. Um, we've got multiple bags from multiple department stores. It looks like it's throughout the city. We've got at least Dillards, >> Victoria's Secret, possibly from like Carter's over on Lakeside Village and Target here. And we're going to have easily a couple grand um and stolen merchandise. Um and we're going to have two detain. And then from what the guy inside was saying is they were working in tandem to try and like one was like going up to the station and like stealing like unused bags trying to bag everything up um while the other one was kind of like keeping watch and then they both pushed out left um without paying for anything. But I mean don't know how many bags is that? >> Three so far. There's still more than >> I mean we've got Bells, Burlington, Gillards. I mean, we've we've got a ton in here.
