Around 3:00 a.m., an officer finds a car awkwardly parked in the road with a woman passed out in the back seat, her feet hanging out the window. Here's what happens when he checks on her. >> Hello. Somebody has >> Uhhuh. >> Uh-uh. We're not doing that. >> No. No. >> 437 to 458. Stop. >> I didn't do anything to you. >> Okay. You asked me if I had one. [clears throat] I didn't say that. I refuse to give it to you. >> Okay. Well, I'm demanding your name. What is your name? >> Why are you demanding it? >> This is not up for debate. >> I do. >> This is not up for debate. What's your name? >> You did not. >> This is your last name. What is your name? >> Nope. >> You are under arrest. Step out of the car. >> Nope. >> What do you mean nope? >> How? >> You're under arrest. cuz you're not listening. So, I need you to step out. Okay. >> Because I didn't do anything. >> Come on out. >> Come on. >> You're going to come out. >> I'm going to drag you out this car if you don't listen to me. Okay? Don't make this any worse than it is. >> Uh, >> get out of the car or I'm going to pull you out. >> Let's go. >> Hi. >> Hi. This is about to get very bad for you if you don't listen to me. >> I'm listening. >> Come out and talk to me. >> Okay. you. >> Come on. You're too grown for this. Come on. >> Don't reach for nothing. Just step out. Just step out just as you are. >> Hi. Hi. I'm from the sheriff's office. >> My god. >> Come on. My shoes. Is there an ID card inside of that in any state? >> Even after stepping out, she continues to deflect, acting confused and offering little clarity. >> Hi. I have no idea pulled me over. I don't know. >> No. No. You were already pulled over. Uh, >> how would I be pulled over if I'm >> exhibit A? >> You're stopping middle of traffic with no lights on. >> I I didn't drive. >> I know, but nonetheless, the >> your feet out the window taking a nice snooze is in the middle of the road. >> That's the problem. So, again, what is your name? >> Hi. >> Hi. >> I didn't put my feet out the window. >> What is your name? Spell it for me. >> That is not my >> Spell your name for me. I'm being very patient with you. >> Can I ask >> This is your last chance to spell your name for me. >> Can I ask you a question? >> No. Spell your name. I've asked you for the past 10 minutes. >> So, I just got out of the car. >> I asked you the >> We're trying to get your name. That's what we're trying to do. >> But I didn't do anything. >> Okay, I'm done with this. You are under arrest. >> No, no, no. Don't put your hands on me. >> I will give you I will give you whatever you need. Turn around. No. No. No. >> Get your hands off of me. We are not putting your hands on the police. >> Oh, I would never. I would never. I would never. I would. >> I would never. >> Put your hands behind your back. I would never. Okay. Now that you wanted to make this difficult anything, >> can you can I ask what what what did I do? >> Sure. >> Put your wrist down like that. There you go. Okay. Now that we've made it this far, I'm going to tighten that down a little bit more. A search finally reveals her identity. As a female officer pats her down, another begins inspecting the vehicle. I'm going to pat you down. You got anything on your back? No, ma'am. Nope. I'm a tourist, so I have no idea. >> Right there. >> Sure. >> Is that you? >> Yeah. Hi. Got back pockets. Okay. >> Yes, ma'am. >> That's what I've been asking for for the past 10 minutes. Right. >> I apologize. I didn't understand what was >> No, you understood. >> No, sir. I did not. >> All right. No. Going to turn around, please. I'm going to take a bro. >> I I got anything in here that >> No meals. >> Nothing. >> Why would they have any either? I'm just making sure. I'm just going to check your voice. Anything. So what? There's no Whose car is this? >> I have no idea. >> You're in a random person's car. >> Sir, hi. I was at the bar >> and I was there. I have no idea. No, sir. I do not. I wish I did. I wish I did. Hi, I'm a tourist. Hi, my name is I've been touring the Panama City Beach. I have no idea. I wish So, you're in a stranger's car. >> Did you steal it? >> If I stole it, I would be in the front. >> She says she came from a bar, but can't explain how she got into the car or who owns it. Officers confirm she has no ties to the vehicle. >> Okay. Well, it's smoking, meaning it's not working. So, >> okay, you can help. I'm not in the driver's seat. I know. >> Can you make sense of this though? >> Um, >> you just told me you were at a bar and you houdinied in the backseat of this car. >> You make no sense at all. >> I'm a tourist. Yeah. >> Hi. Hi. My name is >> Ver and I I You are um >> you're okay. Give me a second. All right. Have fun. >> Have fun with >> my >> 437 tell North Carolina ID card by the numbers, please. This is just crazy to me. I don't think I for sure. >> Yeah, I don't know. Like I don't know. Try to contact the owner if he was driving and I don't know. Doesn't make any sense. But again, there's no affiliation whatsoever to her and the driver, the owner who lives in Bayoint. So, >> she address Bayoint something Wahoo something Wahoo. Oh, look. Um, I'll try a phone number from passion report. >> He was with his tried to give her home. He hit something. I don't know. It doesn't make any sense. But what's that? As the officers get her ready for transport, she continues to ramble and ask unrelated questions. The deputy mentions what he saw in the back seat and jokes about how strange the whole thing is. >> I agree. When you fail to ID and then resist us, pull away swinger. She was pushing me too in the chest. >> Putting handc. We're going to I'm not going to do battery on Leo or anything, but it was like drunk. It's just, you know, the resisting without >> resisting without photo ID. >> Call her that. >> We have a lawful reason to compel ID. >> I mean, you're she's literally >> the only one in a car parked in the road. I mean, yeah, she was in the back seat with her feet hanging out the window, but if I really want to be petty, I'll call site. But it's 3:00 in the morning. I probably just want to get her out of here. So, okay. Well, I'll take her up there and we got to still figure out the car. Probably going to just need to get it towed, but I will try to find a phone number. I >> was going to say you can find somebody call there on this mountain. Try to run by and see and have transport for you. He's four. You sure? >> Oh, wow. >> You can take her if you want. I don't want to hear her. >> She can't contact yet. You have a decent uh >> uh we sent our recent report >> 2022 >> but same address. I'm thinking it didn't change. [clears throat] 418 Wahoo 53y old guy. Hello. Hey. >> Is this M Yes, >> this is Deputy Wilson with the Bay County Sheriff's Office. I'm sorry to bug you this late. >> You need me to come to you? >> Can you provide me any context as to what's going on with your car here? >> Um, yeah. My son's using my car tonight. >> Your son? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> And what's the problem is What did your son tell you? They managed to contact the registered owner by phone. During the conversation, it becomes obvious he has no idea who she is or why she's driving his vehicle. >> My son, >> okay, >> he he left earlier tonight. Um >> Okay. Just the way you responded, you know, do you need me to come to you? Was kind of like h um I don't know. There's a random female in the backseat of your car as it's parked in the middle of the road on Thomas Drive. So, I'm very confused. parked in the middle of >> in the middle of Thomas Drive up here by the curve. Yes, it is parked here. There's a lady sleeping in the back. Your son is not here. I didn't even know there was a son involved and just some lady sleeping who is um less than cooperative. So, >> okay, let me I live in Bay Point. My son may have >> been at the curve. And >> how old is your son? >> He's 24. >> Okay. She is old >> that I have a bum in my car like 40s. So, can you Your son's walking home, you think? >> I'm sure you won't help. >> Can you try to call him and see if he knows who this is? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> Can I call you back on this number? >> Uh, is it blocked or >> I'm not sure if you >> I called you blocked, but let me give you a phone number. Let me know when you're ready to write it down. >> Um, can you just call me back in 2 minutes? >> Okay, that works. >> All right. Thank you. >> You seem very unbothered by that. >> You need me to come to you as soon as I say this is Deputy Wilson. Like >> probably thinks we have a son in the car se or something. >> I didn't even say anything. I said this is Deputy Wilson. Sorry to bug you. >> Cool. Well, um, nonetheless, I'm just going to take her so we can start getting her towards the jail since it's 3:00 in the morning. >> Fine. >> I'll ask Britney to load her up and what? >> Just load her up and meet Cy at the college. >> I just want to get through to this guy and get this process moving. >> Rather than tow it, officers try to coordinate its return. >> I really wanted to hear from him before I was like, what the >> Hello there. Hey, sir. It's Steph. >> It's me. Yeah. Um, any luck on finding him? I've tried calling his phone 10 times. >> No. No. He's not not here anywhere to be seen. Um, so do you have anyone else there with you that can ride you over here to pick up the car so we don't have to tow it? Because again, it's in the middle of Thomas Drive. >> Um, >> it's not somewhere I can leave it. Uh, I do, but I don't have a key to it. >> He's got the only key. >> Okay. One of the deputies is checking if it's in the ignition or not. >> I don't think so. So, I don't Does this car ever have problems with like overheating or smoking or anything? >> No. I asked that there when I very first got here, there was some very light white smoke coming out of the engine area and there's a little bit of front end damage. I'm not sure if that's old or current, but >> um the front end damage is old. >> Okay. >> It's Yeah. And the radiator's been replaced when it happened. >> Gotcha. My son's car. >> I got you. Okay. Um, I'm going to um we'll be there in about 10 15 minutes. Um, he may have gone to This is going to sound funny. We just moved into a new house. He may be at the old house. We have a house on Wahoo. We're going to go check and see if he's there. >> Okay. >> And yeah, if if you can give me 10 15 minutes. >> The owner agrees to retrieve it himself. An officer searched the area for the key while they wait. >> I'll be right here. >> All right, we are at Thomas Drive just by the curve. Just uh by newbies on the curve. You'll see. >> Just by the curve. If if anything, I'll push it over into the parking lot. >> Yeah, we can always figure something out there. I just It's on the side of the road, but it's still in the lane. And they're looking for the key. I can see they can't find it. So, >> okay. Yeah. Let me uh let me go check the my Wahoo house then. But we'll be there shortly. All right. I called you unblocked, so uh you can call me back if you got anything. >> Yeah, I I'll call you right back. Okay. >> Appreciate it. >> Talk to you soon. >> I can get her going. I don't want to look at her anymore. >> All right. No keys anywhere. I'm assuming he has them. >> Okay. >> Um the son I'm assuming. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> He said uh they just moved to a different house on Wahoo. He's like if my son's drunk, whatever. He might have gone to our old house. So he's like, "I'm going to ride over there real quick, see if he's there, and if not, I'm going to come to you and we'll figure out the car." He's like, "If I need to push it, I'm like in park." So >> he's probably going to Yeah, there's no key anywhere in sight. She has no clue about a key. >> Hopefully he >> There's a some bad spilled beer in the back >> on the seat. >> Yeah, like a like a alcoholic Snapple or something. Something stupid. >> I've seen her before. She have any history here? >> No, >> not at all. What's her name? >> Nothing. >> Huh? Okay. >> Yeah. Nothing. Not anything at all. She's like, "I'm a tourist. I'm a tourist." I'm like, "Good for you." >> All right. You want to start her getting out of here or anything you can think of? >> Yeah. Um I want to wait with this though. >> That's fine. I'll just ask where you want. >> Yeah. I'll ask Britney if she can ride him over and swap in the morning. I was just riding just to try to stay awake and of course I stumbled on Yeah, I know. While officers loosen her cuffs and get her ready for transport, she keeps insisting she's innocent and hasn't done anything wrong. >> Can we swap cuffs meat site at the college? >> Yeah. >> Is that okay? I'll wait for the car. Dad's come on his way over here, owner of the car, and we'll figure all that out. >> I'm sorry. Turn around. >> Turn around. >> Okay. >> Uh, and turn around and deput. >> Thank you. Uh, what's happening? >> I'm just switching the cuffs. Okay, so these are a little bit more comfortable. Okay. >> Okay. What What did I do? If I can ask, please. >> You can. One second. We'll explain. >> Okay. So, just like I told you, it's a crime to not identify to me. Like I told you about 30 different times. Okay. >> Didn't. >> You asked. I'm answering. This isn't a debate. Okay. And then you wanted to resist with us. So, >> I >> You didn't. >> I've been with these beautiful ladies for like 30 minutes. How could I want to resist against you? Where would that come into play? >> I hear you. You got a good point. >> I'm sorry, sir. Why would I want to deny you if I had these? It's not fair. >> You're good. >> Can you talk to me so that I can hear it? >> I've been >> I I tried to talk to you and you ignored me. That's kind of rude, >> right? I apologize. >> Your apologies completely accepted. I I accept your apology. >> Why? Why would I? >> Here's a deal. You're drunk. You're going to jail. Okay. And you're going to see a judge in the morning. And when you said we're up and read the appetite that's been placed against you, it won't make sense. Nothing's happening. >> You have something that I can follow to college? >> Yes. Got it. something for me. >> Am I drunk? Doesn't that doesn't make sense? >> Oh, that's got to hurt. >> This is I don't want this at 3 in the morning. >> Once she's in the patrol car, the officers turn their attention to securing the area and reviewing the details of the incident. >> So, the door was shut and her feet were just she's just fiddling her toes out the window right here, laid completely flat. I drive by. I'm like, "Am I seeing this? Is this real life?" >> She's the seat was like that. >> Nothing else you got to do investigation to get out. She grabs that and is holding it at me. [ __ ] ripped it out of her hand and threw it. We yanked her out the car. Like, it's ridiculous. >> She was back here. >> Yes. Just laid out with her feet out here. So, I'm like, "Okay, well, right now you're the only one possession of this car. You need to give me something, some explanation." I don't know. I was at the bar. Now I'm here. Like, okay, I'm going to believe you drove it. I need your ID. No, okay. >> What? >> You're the only one in >> walking the road, right? >> You can't park there. Literally. Literally, you can't park there. >> Oh, yeah. I got aity of hand sanitizer. Pump away. You don't think she's >> You don't think she's lovely? No. >> Filled with loveliness. Steal it. Steal it. It was going to be more uh challenging. No. All right. Have a pig. You're dropping them. Oh, don't you open that door and eat it. No. Get out of your way. >> Like my dinner. Like my spaghetti dinner laying there. Those are good. >> Yeah, they are. Three bucks. Daybreak market. Thank you so much. He'll be at the college. I'll take him the rest. I just need to get this paperwork and get the car figured out. I appreciate this. What? Fail to ID. I resist. >> We'll leave it at that. >> The woman is charged with resisting without violence and disorderly conduct. She was found guilty of both charges. Number four, she thought being a mom would get her out of a DUI. Officers respond to reports of a woman driving dangerously with two kids in her car. Here's what happens when the police confront her. 14 call 156. He's in a Porsche Panorama in the bowling alley park. Roger. >> Hi. >> Hello. >> Hi. >> Mom, Alexis, >> I'm sorry. >> You okay? >> Yeah. >> What's your name? No, my daughter is tired and throwing a fit. So, we pulled over to that way we can't have fit and we're going to go home. >> What happened with your tires? >> What tires? >> The car tires. >> Okay, we're leaving. She's done having her fit. We'll see you later. >> Hold on. Don't Do you have a license so I can see? >> No. >> Just stay in your car for a second, ma'am. Can you sit in the car? Can I see your driver license, please? Yeah, you can, but I pulled over cuz my daughter's having a fit. Don't give me a hard time. >> I'm not giving you a hard time. We got a call about your car. That's why >> you're going to close my hand on the door, man. >> I'm away. Your car is not safe to drive one because you don't have tires. >> I do have tires. >> Would you like to see it? >> Oh my god. >> Buckle up. Let's go home. >> Would you like to see it? >> Buckle. >> Hello. Let go of my car. >> Step out of the car. >> No. >> Step out of the car. You're going to be in handcuff. >> I pulled over cuz my daughter was >> I understand that. Well, now I need your driver license. >> I will give it to you. >> Give it to me then. I I'm still waiting. >> No problem. >> I know. We're just trying to go to the mall. We want to go to the mall. We want the jumpy thing. Okay. That's all. >> You don't have tires. You want me to show you? >> Wait, I'm sorry. I can't afford car tires. >> It's flat. You can't drive it. You don't have flat tire. >> From the very beginning, she's dismissive, brushing off every concern. Officers warn her the car is unsafe to drive, but she insists it's perfectly fine. >> Okay. My husband. >> Let me see your driver license, please. >> Okay. And then I'm going to go home. >> Yeah, we'll do. >> I have rights. >> Okay. Sure. >> Actually, I'm calling Ker. I'm calling my lawyer. >> Okay, >> ma'am. >> Step out of the car. Step out of the car. Step out of the car. >> Stay right here. >> My kid My kids are in the car. >> Please. You going You going be detained for now. Okay. >> No. >> Relax. Okay. Relax. You be arrested. We're not being detained. >> My kids are >> Okay. I pulled over. >> Okay, I know. >> So that they can stop busting. >> Relax. Come over here. >> No, my kids. >> Come over here. They They're fine. They're fine. >> What's your name? What's your first and last name? >> Shannon. Shannon. What? >> Will you We got a call about your car that you almost hit somebody. >> Oh my god. So, you're driving in a way that's not very safe >> because I'm trying to pass tests to my kids cuz they're hungry. >> Are you under any any medications or so? I need to make sure cuz you're not You don't seem all right to me. >> Okay. No, I am not. >> Have you have anything to drink? >> I don't drink. >> Okay. Have you taken any? >> No. >> Do you think you think I am? >> I don't know. I'm just asking cuz your behavior, the way you are asking, the way you acting right now. I'm sorry, but my kids have been screaming and I have a 2-year-old. >> You don't even realize that you're driving with a flat tire. >> Okay. Well, my husband will come and fix it. Listen. >> Okay. Are you on for new prescription medications? >> No. I have a 2-year-old and a six-year-old and they're screaming their heads off. So, I pulled over. >> Okay. >> So, I can give them their their >> Is there a reason you're giving me a hard time when I ask you for just your name and your driver's license just so you figure out who you are? because I don't feel like because I have to give my kids snacks because they're screaming and crying. >> Meanwhile, a witness tells police he followed her for over a mile and observed dangerous behavior. >> Please. >> Okay. Once I figured out how everything is going and then you I you'll be on your way. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Okay. >> So, I was just coming from my office right off of uh Congress. Uh I forgot [snorts] what street it is. I can even think straight. Right by the car wash. Uh >> if you go about a mile uh >> like all the ways down south or >> Yeah. Yeah. Just coming from the south. Just coming from the south. >> This is Bo Beach. So I'm sorry. See, I'm I'm lost. I'm so sorry. So we got I got past Wbrite >> and then I saw a lot of smoking, you know, coming, you know, I'm like driving coming out from the light. >> Yeah. >> Right off of Wbrite, I believe. And then I see like smoke whatever happening. And then I see a couple, right, with two kids and they were pulling the kids away. I'm like, what just happened? And then all those smoke coming from the right tire, right? The front right tire. I'm like, did maybe just overcurb like accidentally? You know, something happened. >> So then I started paying attention to it. And then she, if you go back, you're going to see that I'm Richard's all scraped from almost like >> any cars or anything like that. >> No, not any cars. She almost ran over the this couple with the family. And then um she made a right and then she was like going over the the curb and then on and off, on and off. Right. And then I think she got a flat tire, I believe. >> Yeah. >> And then she made a right turn right here at the gas station. >> Right. And then she almost actually ran over another guy that was just walking. She literally ran >> I mean I thought she was going to hit him, you know, run over this guy. >> Yeah. >> So she made that turn and I'm on the phone ready with 911 >> and then as soon as she made this right turn right here and literally just and over the grass. Um >> the officer presses for more details, confirming that the driver endangered not only herself and her kids but everyone around her. >> And then I thought there was somebody trying to ditch the car. So I made a U-turn. I came back and she seemed like she was lost like trying to find something inside the car. That's when I say, "Look, it's a female, white, female, whatever." And then and I was just just sat there from that point on. >> So you were behind her car from Woolbright all the way to >> Oh yeah. about about half a mile or a mile. So no, I'm telling you if you go back Woolbrite and come back north. >> Yeah. >> I'm telling you the curb, you're going to see I mean a lot of damage. Oh yeah. No, no, no. >> Like five times easily. She was literally going over it. I'm telling you on the sidewalk. She went over the sidewalk and this family two kids the guy pulled a wife and the two kids cuz I thought you know >> Yeah. The guy this guy literally I mean she barely missed him. >> Oh wow. >> So you there was something going on but then I saw the kids. >> Yeah. You didn't did you talk to her at all? >> Oh no no no I No. I just went past it and I cuz I didn't know who it was then. >> Yeah. >> Maybe somebody trying to ditch the car. Something is happening. So I just I parked right there. You see my car right there? >> Uhhuh. >> The portion right there. So, I just stayed there just watching from the front. >> Okay. >> The pill bottle that that that we saw, did you take any today? >> No. >> Is there a reason why they all scattered on the front seat? >> No. >> Um, probably because that my kids get into it and I tell them not to and I have to gather it up and put it in there >> and and I asked you multiple time earlier, >> are you in your any any medication? Denied every single time. Correct. You said you did not take anything medication. You're not even taking Christmas. >> I'm sorry. I misunderstood. I don't take anything. I'm not supposed to. >> Thank you, James. >> Here's what I got from a witness that followed your car for about for more than a mile. >> You almost hit multiple people. You kept hitting the curb. Your tires over here shredded because you hit the curb so many times. >> No, my tires are shredded because you hit the curb. >> Okay. You don't even know that you hit the curb. I that you had no I never hit. >> At this point, officers begin a field sobriety test. Will she cooperate or refuse? Let's find out. >> Okay. >> Would you like would you like to do some roadside for soiety exercises? >> So, what happens if I die? >> If you don't, I'm going to use my um everything that I have so far that I explained to you. >> I'm going to make I'm going to make that decision whether or not to to arrest you for for for DUI based. But don't >> stand in front of right here. Just face me. Face me. Okay. Stand with your feet like this, please. Relax your hand. I'm going I'm going to check your eyes. Okay. The one thing I want see the tip of my pen here. I just want you to look at that. >> Yeah. >> Okay. I'm going to move this from side to side. I just want you to follow it with your eyes only. Do not move your head the entire time. Okay. Keep your eyes on the tip of the pen. >> Got it. Okay, >> let's do it. >> I'm not allowed to blink. Sorry. >> You can blink. I'm just saying to follow the pen. >> Let's do it. >> Follow the tip of the pen with your eyes. >> Let's do it. Let's see if it's over. Let's do it. >> Do not move your head until I'm finished with the exercise. All right. >> Got it. >> Okay. The last one I'm going to do. Okay. I'm going to move this pen close to your face. I promise you I'm not going to touch you with the pen. Okay. Okay, just hear that. >> I just need you to focus on the pen or whatever. I'm going to move it around. I just need you to focus on that, >> but I'm not going to touch you. Okay, just follow with your eyes on. You understand? Okay, relax for a second. I'm going to ask you to walk in the line.
