We're in route to an accident. Um, information we have is that somebody's vehicle rolled over and we're also getting a life alert notification. So, we're not too far down the street here. We're going to arrive in just a minute and uh assess the situation and see how bad injuries are. There's a car on its roof. Heavy I just pulled up and called 911. >> Okay, I'm starting to call her. >> All right, so you guys are in the car. >> Yeah, she's not as bad as her. >> Both her legs are cut open. >> Both her upper thighs are cut open. All the girls. All the girls are with with Ally. And then >> Yes. Cat, Grace, Natalie, Ally. >> Her dad's about to pull up right now. Let's go talk to her dad. [screaming] [crying] >> Falling over. Get me up. It burns. >> All right, >> please. It burns. >> Hey, sweetheart. What's your last name? >> Lawrence. >> How do you spell that? >> L A W R E N C E. >> My body is going numb. >> Okay. What's your first name? >> Uh, Gage. Gage. Call mom and papa. >> I called pop. Please help me out. This This burns. Okay. Here. It burns. Please. It is kind of hot. All right. What's your birthday, Catherine? Hey, Spencer. Spencer, can you take some pictures of that? I got you. >> Okay. Do you have a number for your parents? Oh, your dad just got here, right? >> Her dad's right here. >> Okay. >> Oh, I need to sit down. >> Okay. Okay. >> A little dizzy. >> Yeah. Really dizzy. >> Okay. You got a pretty gnarly cut on her head, too. >> You're going to be fine. >> Hey, sweetheart. She have a cut on her head. >> I did. I don't know. I don't think so. Oh, she does. >> My grandpa. >> Your grandpa? >> Yeah. >> Okay. What's your first name, sweetheart? >> Natalie. >> Natalie. >> Listen. You need to calm down. >> Okay. What's your last name? >> You need to calm down. >> What's your last name? >> W y N. >> I want my mom. We take deep breaths. Okay. We're going to get through this. Okay. Take a deep breath. >> Wake up. Don't go to sleep on me. Hey, stay awake. Okay, you got to you got to stay away from me. You got to stay away. Come on. >> Hey, Cap. She keeps going out. >> Hey, what's going on? Okay. >> Hey, you hurt. >> Don't give her that, please. No, you can't drink that in case you vomit. >> Okay, where are we right now? Hey, what's your name? >> Tell me your name. >> But this is you know you know this is >> anybody I think and her brother did. >> We're going to fire down first. Okay. Right there. What's that? >> Am I in trouble? >> No. Is it is your car? >> Yeah. >> Oh, okay. No, >> I was the one that cuz I seen it by my mirror. So, I turned around. I was like, "Bro," I was like, "Oh, okay." No, I just wasn't sure like no one's telling nothing. What' you see in your mirror? I was driving this big cl like higher than this a cloud of smoke and then I see this car going like this rode about four or five times. >> Did they pass you at all or were they in the same way? >> No, they were just behind me. >> Behind you? >> Yeah. >> Oh, okay. >> I was like, "What the fuck?" >> And I pulled over and I spun around and >> You were in the car? >> Yeah. He was with me. He was You seen the same thing, too? >> Well, you all cut up and everything. >> Oh, they're by accident. >> Oh, from before. >> No, they're going to Vegas. How old are you? >> You guys are good. You guys just come hang out over here. We'll have firefighters turn it off right now. They probably hit the outside shoulder over there. >> Yep. And it overcorrected. >> And then >> Well, that's why I wanted to close off the the street. >> Yeah. >> So we can have them redirect. Yes. >> There you go. [crying] Wow. We responded to an accident that came out as a rollover. single vehicle involved. We got there, there was a total of four juveniles and then one 19-year-old driver who all had injuries. Through our investigation, we determined that the driver of the vehicle lost control while they were trying to negotiate a turn. Speed possibly being a factor along with the >> dirt. Um, so they ran off the roadway, ended up trying to overcorrect, lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle rolled. >> We found out none of the uh people in the vehicle had seat belts on and it looked like they were all in the front seat of the truck. So, it was a single cab was a one and a half cab truck. So, there weren't really any seats in the back. And according to two of the kids, every according to two of the kids, everybody was everybody was sitting in the front seat like on each other's laps and stuff like that cuz they had no seat belts. So when the truck rolled, two of them got one of them got ejected, one was partially ejected. Um, two had very bad injuries that were major. So, he flew them to a trauma center in Las Vegas and then the other three were went to the hospital here to get treated. So, um, all in all, it's good that no one was killed. Could have been a lot worse with this time of day. It's busy. They barely miss a telephone pole at where they were all seated. definitely probably would have been a fatal accident if that was the case, but they all have uh like I said, two major injuries. The rest are some minor stuff. It's definitely going to be a lesson for all of them. And we got the report done. So, we're going to uh send that report up once the other driver gets done in the in Vegas. We might do a follow-up. Since she is 19, she can receive citations. Um, and then we'll go from there. But right now, it's just going to be the accident report portion of it. So, we got sent to Jones Road for a vehicle accident. Uh, somebody ran off the road, struck a telephone pole. Apparently hit it pretty hard if it broke it in half and caller said the telephone pole is now laying in the middle of the roadway. So, we're going to go make sure everybody's okay. >> Behind me, passing 78. Watch out, man. 726 to 763. If you'd come in on the Jones roadside um from New Flyer and block that into the roadway, we're going to have this pole is going to be snapped in half. Several power lines 726, if you would notify Alabama Power. >> Hello. >> Hey, man. I called it in. Paul Big, I'm >> Dylan. >> Who? I was in the car. >> Just you? >> Yes, sir. >> You're the only one that was in the car. Nobody else was in there with you. >> All right, have a seat with me. >> Pop squat right there. Who are who are they? Who are they to you? >> Uh, that's my ex. She lives right down the road. We just broke up. >> Okay. It's their family. What >> What are they so upset about? >> She thinks I've done it intentionally. Oh, >> okay. I got too far over and got in the grass and just went off from there. >> Okay. How old are you? >> 17. >> 17. You mind calling your mom or dad or somebody? >> I already called her. Hello. >> Okay. Can I talk to her? >> Hello? Yeah. >> Go ahead and sit up in there and pop squad for me, buddy. He's the only one in the truck. He's 17. He's a juvenile. >> Okay. Hey, man. Let me check. We need to figure out who owns this field right here and this fence. I got out of the way. I done heard him come by two or three times. I believe it. >> Oh, he was driving up and down through here. >> I I believe it was a white Chevrolet truck. >> Yeah, that's what's down in there. >> It was loud and he was in it. He came by. I don't know if it's him or not, but first came by and they went yonder way down toward the church. In about 3 minutes they came back and then I was around back behind my house from garbage out. I heard sound like the same truck coming from this way and he was in it. So then I heard blamy blamy boom and I heard electricity popping. I said, "Oh my goodness." >> 726 to 763. If you would go back around this house right here to the right with the fence. So, if you would go make contact with them, get their information. Their fence is going to be damaged. >> What did you say to figure? >> Hey, y'all don't need to walk up under this, but this house right here, like with the barn, you know, uh, you know how to get to this house? >> Not a damn clue. >> So, there's a driveway. There's a driveway off to the Armville Road right here. If you come off, come come back up the Arville Road and go up there. >> I'm gonna send Tay. I'm gonna send Tay. He just pulled up behind me. >> Okay. Just tell >> I don't have to move my car cuz that pole still has a flame on it right there. >> Okay. >> Let 1070 know that, too. I mean, it's not like bad, but it's got a flame on it. >> Like on that side? >> No, it's like right there. You see that flame on the very bottom where that pole's broken? >> No. Oh, yeah. >> The bottom of it on the right side. >> Yeah. on the on like you talking about in the ground. >> Is that flame or is that freaking They're lights. I can't tell. >> I don't want to get close. I'm not getting We're waiting. We're waiting for Alabama Power to get here. >> He said he was going 50 whenever he hit that power pole. >> Bro, he took that thing and snapped it completely. Dude, he was not going 50. At least bare minimum 80. Maybe even more than that. Yeah, >> I don't think Where's your mom? >> Oh, okay. >> Walk over here. We're going to talk to her real quick. >> How fast you say you were going? >> 50. >> There ain't no way, buddy. >> I swear to you, I was. >> You were not going 50. >> Cuz I Every time before Look at me. You weren't going 50. >> I promise. >> I got to tell the truth. >> I am. >> You weren't going 50, buddy. >> Every time I go through a turn, I look down at my sweat. I'm going to make sure I'm not going. >> They know this stuff. They're not >> I wasn't going through that. I was going too fast. I was not going that fast. >> You weren't going 50. >> I swear to you I was, >> Levi. >> Buddy, I can guarantee you you're going at least 80 at the bare minimum. >> I do not have the balls to go 80. >> Buddy, you cut you cut you cut a power pole completely in half from top to bottom. You You do like you completely you sectionalized it. I mean like you took a whole section out of it. You had to be going fast enough not to just break it off of its frame. You were going so fast that you broke it off of its frame and then also snapped it clean clean at the top. So, do you get what I mean by that? It'd be like if I punched my flashlight right here. All right. >> And I snapped the point where I punched it. These two sections are the only two sections that get snapped off. You'd have to say that's some power coming behind that, right? >> I swear to you, the last speed I seen was 50. It was right before I went through that turn. >> All right. So, you want to tell me about uh do you mind if I talk to him? Are you okay with that? >> Go ahead. You go. Right. >> You want to tell me about uh why were you texting your mom you love her and then calling your sister and all that good stuff? Like >> because I felt like telling about I ain't told nobody I love them in a while. I ain't talked to nobody. >> Are you Were you feeling suicidal at the time? >> No, sir. I ain't felt suicidal. >> It's been a long time. >> Were you trying to hurt yourself? >> No, sir. I do not want to hurt myself. >> Were you wearing your seat belt? >> Yes, sir. >> No, you wasn't. I recall putting on my seat belt before I >> So, Levi, I'm gonna go ahead and tell you right now. You're lying to me about your speed and I know for a fact that you're lying to me about your seat belt cuz whenever Listen, whenever you got out of the truck, what did you do? You took your seat belt off and then walked up here. >> I went to grab my seat belt and I went to yank it off and it wasn't there for me to yank on. But I remember putting it on before I started driving. >> So, it was already unbuckled. >> I might have cuz all I remember is I let go of my hand. So I don't I remember I don't remember unbuckling it, but I remember getting out. So that means unbuckled. >> So you you got out so it had to be unbuckled. >> Did you buckle it back in before you walked up here? >> I don't know. I did. I don't remember happening. >> So it's buckled in. It's like you had it buckled buckled in, but it was behind you. >> You know what you're saying? So what happens whenever >> whenever your vehicle collides, the way seat belts are designed, whenever your vehicle collides with something, your airbags deploy and then your seat belts lock, >> a mechanism shoots and they lock. >> I can't even fit my arm between the seat and your seat belt. >> So there's no way your body was in between that. >> I remember I remember locking I remember it feeling >> that's not that's not that's not that's not how it works, man. Like you're not understanding what I'm saying. You get what I'm saying? >> Yeah. >> His seat belt like there there's no way a human >> 727 >> there's no way a human somebody that weighs 50 My little sister weighs 90 lbs. There's no way she's fitting in between that seat belt and the seat is what I'm getting at. You weren't wearing your seat. Your seat belt was buckled. >> Your seat belt was buckled, but you weren't wearing it. >> Did you blank out or something? Like when >> I mean I I don't >> At this point, man, you're not in any trouble. It's not illegal to wreck your car or anything like that. They may power company may try civily. That's going to be you have insurance. So, it doesn't matter. The insurance is going to cover all that stuff. At this point, our main concern is your mental health and your well-being. Like, cuz we don't want to send you home with your mom and you go somewhere else tonight and harm yourself. I've been doing this a while and I've I've seen it several times. And I understand you're going through it with your girlfriend, ex-girlfriend. You're 17. So, are you still in high school? >> Yes, sir. >> None of that stuff. Not girls. It's not worth all this. >> I don't I I do I do not want to be I'm not suicidal. I love my life. I have a good life. I have bad moments, but all the moments it's worth it. It's it's not adding up to me is what I'm getting at from what what you're telling me and what I'm what I'm seeing up there. And like you said, you hit the grass, got a little swirly on the road. I don't see any marks on the road where you got swirly. If you were going, even if you were going 50 and you said your vehicle got swirly, like you were washing out, there'd be marks on the road from your tires. There's not marks on the road on tires. There's not anything on the side of the road where you ran off the side of the road into the grass and tried to correct, which a normal person would do. It's almost like, I'm going to be completely honest with you, it almost looks like you came around that curb and completely squared up that power pole. >> I know it looks like that. And I I promise you, I did not try to do that. As soon as I lost control, I let go cuz I knew what was happening. >> Well, you're not in trouble for it is what I'm getting at. I'm just trying to >> I just want y'all to believe. >> I'm >> He wouldn't wear a sweet seat belt either. No seat belt. >> He walked away. He went with his mom. there. >> So, basically what happened, we got sent to a vehicle accident, ended up being here a little bit longer than we wanted to. Going to be here a little while, waiting for Alabama Power. Basically 17-year-old kid, been going through a breakup with his girlfriend, driving by our house a few times. Come to find out, he had texted his mom and his sister, I love you. Kind of like a last goodbye kind of thing. uh one of the neighbors at the houses next to where he had the accident that they heard him drive by about five or six times. Um whenever he did come back by the last time, he ended up I estimated speed to be about 80 85 miles an hour. Completely cut a power pole completely in half. Then ran off the road all the way to the left side through a fence and then down in a little ditch area in the woods. Um basically he was okay. Um, no damage to him. Trucks completely totaled. Just at this point, want to make sure that he's he's not feeling suicidal and that uh he's not causing or posing a threat to his ex-girlfriend, current girlfriend. So, after we get wrapped up here, we're going to try to go make contact with her. Uh we got a call that there is an accident up here on uh one of our intersections that an offduty officer is at, but we're trying to find out where it's at. [sighs] So there's a there's a vehicle accident like about half a mile that way. So, we're in the area and McFarland's right behind us. Actually, it's her call, but we'll go over here and help her out. [snorts] >> 739. >> There it is. Okay. >> Airbags deployed. [sighs] Watch your head. >> You okay, ma'am? >> I don't know. I'm >> struggling to get this vest on. All right. Do you need a you need an ambulance or anything? Okay. We got one here. here anyways to come check you out, make sure everything's okay. Um, we're obviously not going to be able to move your car. If you want to, I'll stand by with you if you want to grab some uh, you know, if you have your phone or whatever, and we'll go right over here out of the roadway so we don't get uh, get hit by nothing. >> Oh, no, she's still inside. >> Yeah, I'm call What about this one? You want to check this one >> to go over into Duncan parking lot or you think >> looks like she just come over. I didn't talk to her much cuz I couldn't see her cuz the air bag was in the way. >> Yeah. Okay. Let me go get hers. See if she's going to go. >> So So tell So tell me what happened. I'm coming down this way and I don't know if >> she Well, my thing is I think that she tried to come over and go and Dunkin' Donuts. Oh, really? >> But I was I was coming. >> So, where which lane were you in? >> I'm in this lane right here. The lane right here that I'm in, >> right? So, you were in the turning lane. Where were you going to turn left right up here? >> Yeah, I see. I was headed this way and seemed like soon as I got right here, it's like I don't know if she tried to come over or what she was trying to My thing is I think she was trying to make a Dunkin' Donut. >> Yeah, it it seems so. Okay. >> I That's what I'm I'm thinking. Like >> Okay. All right. >> Just >> I'm going to uh It looks that way, too. I mean, what you're describing. >> Yeah. >> Uh Let me grab a Notepad really quick. I'm going to get some information from you. Do you have your driver's license and uh proof of insurance readily available? If you could get that for me, I'll be right back with you. >> You okay? >> Okay. Is it you think from the airbags? >> That's what that was. >> Yeah. Do you have uh your license and insurance card? >> My license. Do you work anywhere? >> Yeah, I just used to work at Calhoun County Sheriff's Department. >> Okay. >> And um now I'm working at Job Court in Gaston. >> Okay. You guys taking her up to RMC? >> Yeah. >> Okay. 729. If I didn't advise, I'm 1023. I'm going to hurry up and get her key real quick. Hey, Bailey. I need her key to her car. Yeah, >> house key. >> Yeah, I just need your car key. That's it. And all you got to do is just call the department. They'll tell you where it got towed to. Okay. >> Okay. >> And she came out of nowhere. I guess I think she was trying to get to Dunkin Donut. >> Yeah, that's what we were thinking too. >> And she and she just and I couldn't >> shot over. Huh? >> I couldn't stop in in time. >> Okay. >> I was turning going to Dunkin Donuts. I don't think I hit >> from the side. You see how my car? Boom. I >> I'm like, Lord, >> you see I was turning. >> Yeah. No, I just need to ask. That's all. >> Oh, you good. >> Yeah. Okay. All righty. um you know where Berry Street is. So it's at the intersection of 78 and Barry. If you will notify your insurance company of what happened, they will usually take care of everything else for you. Um if you want to get a copy of the wreck report, you can. A lot of times your insurance company will do that for you. I know this a lot. If uh if you forget any of this, just feel free to call us. >> Um so right now they're getting their stuff out of the vehicle um cuz both cars are being towed. >> Yeah. If um if you don't mind. >> The driver of the great Camry is going up to the hospital for shoulder issues. >> Um I collect the car keys um for the tow truck driver so he can either drive them up on the the ramp or um >> just to have to lock and keep things safe on the inside. >> [snorts] >> And what about our insurance? >> They came back. >> Good. Okay, you're good, ma'am. >> Okay. >> If you guys If you guys don't have any questions for me, uh, you're good to go, man. >> All right. You don't need nothing else. >> Let me make sure. >> Can't think right now. >> I get it. Yeah. No, I mean, I get it. Just take take >> and and if you think of something after we leave here, a question that you had or whatever, you can just call up to the police department and you know, we'll we'll get it figured out. >> [laughter] >> She said she f to get left. I guess uh so [sighs] kind of sum it all up. Uh the Toyota was trying to make a left turn into Dunkin Donuts parking lot and um apparently didn't see the white SUV. [sighs] on the left side of them and uh the white SUV unfortunately t-boned the the Camry. Um the individual in the Camry went up to the hospital for her shoulder and uh the other uh driver I believe went to work. Um both of them are getting towed and uh hopefully the lady that went up to the hospital is okay. And uh that's it. >> [music]
