Here's what happens when the officers arrive. Thank you. >> Welcome registration. [Music] >> Registration. >> I don't care if this registration. I've never really been pulled over, so I don't know >> what's wrong. >> Is this the registration? I've never been pulled over, so I don't know. >> Um, >> yep, that's it. >> Okay. >> All right. And your license? >> Um, he took it. >> All right. So, you were driving. It's okay. Take your time. >> It's not okay. >> All right. Where are you coming from? >> I'm coming from my friend's house. >> All right. Walk with me over here. Okay. >> No, I've never even really been pulled over. >> It's okay. It's all right. How old are you? >> 18. >> All right. Do you have anything to drink or anything like that tonight? >> And I haven't had anything to drink. >> Okay. When's the last time you had something to drink? >> Um, probably like a week ago. >> Okay. Nothing. >> Drink and drive. I don't >> I'm just asking if you had anything >> my parents are alcoholics and I don't do that. >> Okay. But you didn't have anything to drink? >> No. >> All right. What are we doing at your friend's house? >> Well, just hanging out. >> Just hanging out. All right. And are you not hurt? >> No. My lips a little busted, but it's not nothing bad. C. >> When questioned about alcohol use, she insists she hasn't had anything to drink, emphasizing that her parents are alcoholics and she avoids alcohol altogether. Despite her confidence, officers proceed with a field sobriety check. >> Okay. She had a little blood. >> Nothing bad. >> Did you hit the airbag or is that the steering wheel? Did you hit the steering wheel? >> No, the airbag. >> Airbag. All right. >> And it was just you and your other friend were in the car. >> Yes. >> All right. So, where were you coming from? Like what street? >> This way. >> You were coming from this You look down at the phone. >> Yeah. >> All right. What made you look at the phone other than the boyfriend calling? >> Nothing. Just him saying he was on the phone. He was talking and I looked down and I looked back up and we were going and we just crashed. >> Okay. Do you have any um I know you say you're not injured from the motor vehicle crash, but do you have any medical conditions? Anything that would affect your eyes, anything like that? >> No. >> All right. I know you said you weren't drinking. Okay. >> Yeah, you can test me. >> I'm just going to check your eyes. If you if the eyes are fine and I don't see any indications, you're not going to do any other tests. Okay. >> Yep. You said you have nothing to drink, right? >> And you're okay, right? You said >> okay. [Music] All right. Do me a favor to stand back here for me and put your feet together. >> All right. >> Can I keep I'm really cold. >> It's okay. >> Okay. >> All right. Hold this. Yep. All right. Do me a favor. Just look at the tip of my pen for me. Okay. You see the tip of my pen? Yeah. >> All right. I want you to touch it with the tip of my pen. Okay. >> Can you touch it with your right index finger? >> Good. All right. What I want you to do is I want you I'm going move the pen from side to side. Okay. >> Yeah. >> What I want you to do is I want you to follow with your eyes and eyes only. You understand? >> You understand that? >> Yep. >> Okay. Just your eyes. >> Keep looking at the pen. Okay. >> Yep. [Applause] They begin with a standard eye test using a pen to check her ability to track its movements without turning her head. Then comes the walk and turn. Let's see how she handles it this time. >> All right, let's slip back here further. Okay. >> Mhm. >> Come walk with me. All right. What's your first name? >> Megan. >> All right. And you have anything to drink? >> No. >> All right. Do me a favor. Stand just like that. >> Put your feet together for me. Okay. Put your hands down by your side. Okay. What I want you to do, I want you to put your right foot in front of your left foot, touching heel to toe like this. >> In front of the left foot? >> Yep. >> Yep. >> All right. Keep your hands down at your side. Okay. >> Yep. >> All right. Just like that. Now, stay in that position. That's called the starting position. I want you to stay in that position as I explain and demonstrate the test for you. Do you understand? >> Yep. >> Okay. What I want you to do is I want you to take a series of small steps. Okay? Each step you're going to count out loud. One, two, three, and so forth. Okay? If you lose your balance, you just put your foot back. You just put your foot back. If you lose your balance, okay? All right? All right. And you're going to count with each step. One, two, three, and so forth. Okay. With each step, you're going to touch your heel to your toe. Okay? It's look like this. One, two, three, and so forth. You get to nine. Okay? Once you get to nine, you're going to take a series of small steps. You're going to turn around. You're going to come back. Do you understand? >> Yes. >> Do you understand the test? >> Yes. >> All right. Do me a favor. Put your right foot in front of your left foot touching heel to toe. >> All right. You can begin the test when you're ready. Okay. Make sure you can out loud. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 >> Okay. All right. For the next test, I want you put your your heels together like this. Kind of make like a little angle. >> Yep. >> Okay. Step back a little bit. I don't want you on that end there. There you go. Go. All right. All right. Why don't you do you're pick whatever you're going to pick whatever foot you feel more comfortable with. Whether it be your right leg, your left leg. Okay. You're going to raise the approximately 6 in off the ground, keeping both legs straight. >> Can I put my pants on? >> Yeah. >> I have pants in my car. Yep. >> I'm free. >> The cold weather clearly makes things uncomfortable, but she continues cooperating throughout the test. >> Whatever. I guess I I don't have my sweatpants, so it's >> all right. We can just do it right here. Okay. >> Okay. That's okay. >> All right. So, like I said, you're going to put your heels together like this. Okay. Whatever foot leg, whatever leg you feel more comfortable, you're going to raise approximately six inches off the ground. >> You're going to keep both legs straight. Okay? >> All right. Imagine a soda can out underneath your foot. You're going to count in this manner. 1 2 100 3 100 4 100 and so forth until I tell you to stop. You understand? All right. So, I'm going to demonstrate it for you. Okay? I'm going to raise my right leg. It's going to go 1 2 100 3 100 4 1 5 1. Look down at your foot and count. Okay? >> Do you understand? >> Yes. >> Keep both legs straight. Okay. >> Yep. Go. >> 1,00 2 1,00 3 1,00 4 1,00 5 1,000 6 100 7 1 >> You okay? >> Yes. All right. >> 8 1,000 9 100,000 10 1,000 11 100 >> All right, come back here. Come back here. >> All right, I'm not going to embarrass you in front of your friends right now, >> but you're going to have to get my car. Okay. >> All right. Her inconsistent balance and physical cues during the test lead to the conclusion that she is unfit to drive. She's ultimately arrested for DUI. Number four, this teen couldn't handle a simple mention of her history. Officers respond to a domestic disturbance involving two teenagers, an 18-year-old girl and her 17-year-old ex-boyfriend. The incident starts over a toilet seat left up, but quickly escalates into a physical altercation. Here's what happens next. >> How's it going? You all right, buddy? >> Yeah, I'm chilling. It's just my head is a little >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> What up? Hey, so where are you injured at? You said your head? >> Yeah. She's kind of like I was sitting down like just trying to like not look at her so I didn't get hit directly in the face. >> I like put my head down. She grabbed it like this as I have here. Yeah, she grabbed it and just started going. >> Just go ahead. I'm not You mind if you just turn around real quick so I can kind of take a gander? >> I'm guessing she wasn't hitting too hard cuz it's not anything crazy. >> Okay. >> But it's like >> What are y'all fighting over? >> Uh toilet seat, dude. Toilet seat. Are you like That's what I'm That's what I said to her. She came out yelling at me. She came out yelling at me and I was like, "What? McKenna, what what could you possibly be this pissed off at me for this morning?" Is it over here? >> This one right here with the orange house with the garage open. >> No, not with the garage. The one with the black trim around Yeah. black trim around the garage. >> Okay. >> She was still living there. >> Yeah. She's on She was on foster program, so she doesn't necessarily have set parents to be with. >> Okay. >> Now that she's 18, she was in the foster program where her house kicked her out at 18 already to go into a different program. >> Okay. How old are you? >> I'm 17. >> How old is she? >> She's 18. >> You're 17? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> So, >> your parents say about it? >> Yeah. I call she smashed my phone at cool so I had to use what kind of phone >> I had an iPhone SE. >> Okay. Were you trying to call us? >> Uh no it was I was just sitting on the I guess it was her form of showing that she was pissed off and getting her get back at me was to smash my phone. So >> well what I'm saying to you is like were you trying to call the cops to get get somebody here? >> Yeah, I was going to after the fact that she hit me and then threw my phone and I was like now I don't have a phone to call. So I just came over here. I was like can I use your phone? and I need to call my mom, let her know what happened to begin with, and I'd like to call the cops." She was like, "Yeah, sure." >> Okay. >> So, >> did you tell her you're going to call the cops? >> No. >> I told her I was like, when I went in, she >> the or I was yelling at her about the phone, saying that she's going to have to pay my mom back for it, this, that, and the other. She was >> The guy also says she had previously smashed his phone at school. Although he doesn't appear seriously injured, he's visibly upset and had to borrow a phone to call for help. Not even that much, like 200 or something cuz we got it cheap. But it was that and then I was like, I'm not even worried about the phone. I just need you to my face. Have fun going to jail. It's been there a year now. She's just constantly at me. That's the lady I just had to call here cuz she's the one. >> So you who did you talk to? Your mom? Yeah, my mom's the one who managed basically where she work, >> but she should be able to answer because she's so she knows that you guys are responding to it. >> Hello. >> Hi. >> Are you McKenna? >> What What's going on? >> Um proceeded to call me a kid that called you. So I threw his phone. Who who is he to you? Um, >> okay. So, what what happened? What led us what led up to us getting called here? >> No clue. He said that he was going to call you guys. I don't know. He only says this. So, >> how old are you? >> I'm 18. >> Okay. How old is he? >> 17, I think. >> Okay. >> So, who lives here? >> We both do, but I pay I pay rent here. >> No, I mean, who like everybody? Okay. So, he doesn't live in the house. >> No, he comes in to go to the bathroom. Um, he gets like really aggressive with people. So, yeah, he's not reaching anything. >> Is he allowed inside? Well, obviously he's allowed inside cuz you just said he uses the bathroom and stuff, but he doesn't have a room inside or anything? >> No. >> Okay. But you have a room inside. >> Yeah, I pay rent. >> Does he ever stay in your room? >> No. >> Okay. So, what happened today? >> Um, so it started cuz the toilet seat was up, surprisingly. >> It started with what? >> With the toilet seat being up. So he goes and uses a bathroom whatever happens. So see sometimes gets left off. I came out of >> course he did to um >> came out of where? Your room. >> My uh the bathroom. I had just gotten up. I work night shift. >> Okay. >> So I had come over here and then was talking to um him and I was like hey can you >> The girl McKenna gives her side of the story. She confirms they argued over the toilet seat, but claims the boy escalated the situation by yelling and bringing up traumatic details from her past. >> Close the toilet seat. He was like, "Oh, well that wasn't me. I avoid anything that has to do with you." >> Which is [ __ ] Whatever. >> Mhm. >> Um, so um, so I come out and I was like, "Dude, just like can you just put it down? Like it's really not that big of a deal." He has a tendency of lying a lot too as well. So that's another thing. Anyways, so I come out and I'm like, he just put it down. It's really not that big of a deal. And proceeds to just like kind of not really super aggressive, but kind of aggressive. Just starts yelling that he didn't do it and that it's not his fault. And I was like, "Okay, well, I'm ready for work." I was up. I was in the shower cuz I had just gotten off of work. And then so he proceeds to come out here. And while he was on this couch, he was like, "Well, come come [ __ ] hit me. Come hit me." At this point, I was just standing there. I was like, "You like no." and then proceeds to just scream and yell, scream and yell, scream and yell. Continues to walk outside, let my cat out. My cat is not supposed to be inside. He runs away. Anyways, screaming, yelling. He probably argued with me for like 30 minutes. And he was like, "God damn." He just kept telling me to hit him and I was like, "No, like you're being a bitch." Um, and then we walk outside and then we're yelling some more and then he wants to I'm I was on foster care. My mom's like a serious He was like, "Well, nobody wants you." Blah, blah, blah. This about your mom, that about your mom. He was like, "Oh, you're just a cuz you got sold out." I mean, clearly I dress not the best, but really don't think that is what makes me more exactly. Anyways, pushy just screaming yell scream and yell gets up in my face at one point and I was just like I kind of like pushed him off me and I was like dude like you need to like and then but that was that was so he got in your face and you just pushed him back to get him out of your face. >> I pushed him and then I like grabbed his hair earlier while he was like sitting cuz he like he started to get up and I just kind of like held him there. >> She admits to grabbing his hair and slapping him but claims it was only to stop him from getting in her face. >> So that wasn't fun either. Um, >> for what reason? >> Cuz he was just getting really aggressive. Like we were sitting. So I wasn't sitting. I was standing and I was like, "Are you done yet?" Like, "Are you done yet? Are you done yet?" And he like proceeds to like like start to stand up. And then so I go over there and I'm like, "No." Like and then I'm screaming at him still. And I was like, "It's all this all this all the time cuz you can't like put down the toilet seat. Like it's really not that big of a deal." And then where were we? I'm sorry. I I used a moment. >> Yeah. No, you were telling the story, but then you mentioned that you had grabbed his hair. So, I was just trying to specify like what your reasoning for grabbing his hair. >> Oh, cuz he started to like stand up and I was just like keeping him down. >> Okay. >> Cuz like when he gets up and then he gets all up in my face again, it's not it's not ever. >> So, were you concerned that it was going to get physical? >> It's always usually how it is. >> Okay. >> It's not always how it is. Sorry. That's >> It has happened before though. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> That was back when I was like 17 though as well. >> Okay. And he'll just like repeatedly like anytime he's in the house like [ __ ] [ __ ] this that this that. It's just like taunting all the time. >> Is he mad that you're in the house and he's not allowed? >> Oh, he's definitely pissed about that. >> Anything else happened? >> Um, I did throw his phone in the pool, which I've already talked to his father. Um, or his stepfather, sorry. And he said that with like he said, he deserved it. I told I told I was like, "I will buy you a new phone. That's not what I'm concerned about." And who >> who pays for the phone? Is it? >> Um, his parents. >> Okay. Yeah, I have my own phone in builtin, but yeah, his parents bought that one because he decided to drive his first one and he thinks that he's going to be getting like a brand new iPhone out of it. And I told him I was like, "No, but I'll replace the one you have and I'll upgrade the storage for the inconvenience." His phone still works. It's just the back glasses shattered. >> Okay. So, it's not completely busted. >> No, it's I can cuz I showed his parents and his his parents are on my side about Well, not I don't know the mom yet. I haven't talked to her. She tells us do not text her while like >> Yeah. >> You know, so >> I'm assuming they're both at work. >> Yeah, they are at work right now. >> Officers follow up with more questions to clarify the situation and evaluate both sides of the story. >> I did take a picture and I sent it to the parents. Front screen works. The back screen's Sorry, you can't. My phone's busted. It's so like it's cracked. You can kind of see. But it works. But it does work and the screen's unshattered. But I did tell his uh the dad that I'll buy the new phone. It's It's a $90 phone. So, >> at any other point did it become physical like punches being thrown or anything like that. >> Uh, when he like got really close up into me and he was like pushing me, I just kind of like like I don't know really what this movement is, but like it hit the back of his head and that was out on the lai >> like a slap. >> I slapped him. Yeah. >> I didn't never like closed fist like it. >> Okay. How close was he to you? >> He was right there. >> What was he saying? Just screaming and yelling. >> Screaming at each other, which happens before. He's also known to kick animals or what he did when we had him. But >> so instead of, you know, getting it to the point where you're having to push him, he's >> I really don't want it to have to come to that point cuz I already I'm doing community service for a whole different thing. >> Well, no, no, no. I got you. My My point was more instead of it getting to a point where we're having to come here and get your side of the story, cuz obviously your side is a little different than what he's saying. >> Yeah. >> Um why don't you take out your phone and record it? I don't know. I wasn't really thinking about it. >> Or separate yourself and walk down the street or do something to to get away from him so that it doesn't have to escalate to one of you possibly going to jail. >> Yeah, I know. It's just like when he gets up in my face like he expects me like not to like want him like to move. >> Well, no. And you have a right to personal space >> like and he repeatedly just says like hit me, hit me, hit me. And then there's Oh, >> despite her attempts to justify her actions, what happens next speaks for itself. >> He pushed me out. I literally said he pushed me. >> The first The first The first time I asked you, you said he was in your face and you had and you had pushed and you had pushed him back. >> Do you have anything in your pockets or anything? >> No, not do me a favor. Just go against the car real quick and spread your feet apart in a wider stance and just bend slightly forward at the hips off the top of the focus real quick. >> You don't want anything on. >> I just have to make sure before you go in it. >> I've been cracked before. So that's why >> unless you want it left here. >> No weapons or anything on you. >> One follow-up question for you real quick before you sit. Just have a seat real quick. So, because you're in custody, I have to read this. This is called the Miranda warning. I just have to address the issue on your neck real quick. So, this is your Miranda warning. You have the right to remain silent and you say, "Can a rule be used against you in a court of law? You have the right to talk to a lawyer and have him or her present with you while you're being questioned. Understand each of these rights as I've explained it to you." >> Okay. And having these rights in mind, you still wish to talk to me. I need a yes or no on that if you want to talk to me. >> Sure. >> Okay. So, is that is the injury is the bruises there on your neck. Is that from or is that from boyfriend? >> Okay. Got it. All right. That's it. So, you're just going to be going up. >> You don't have Sorry to interrupt. You don't have any injuries from him. >> No hand marks, no red marks, no >> I don't think so. Okay. Okay. >> So, your phone and your money are going to go into your property. I'll put it in a bag. It'll be taken up front and then we'll be going up to the jail. Okay. All right. >> Is this like what a charge? >> Yes, you are under arrest for domestic battery and criminal mischief for the film. >> In the end, she's arrested for domestic battery and criminal mischief. Number three, teen mom gets arrested and instantly throws a fit. Officers respond to a call involving an 18-year-old mother who's reported for being disrespectful to her grandmother. When they arrive, the teen is already in a hostile mood and makes it clear that she doesn't want help from anyone. Despite officers trying to talk her down and offer solutions, the teen continues to yell and argue. Yo, you disrespectful. You think you think you can talk to people however you want. Hey, I'm keep you. See, look. You see that grandma? >> That's not my grandma. I don't know. I'm ready to go home. You going to take me and my daughter home or what? >> Where do you live now? >> Right there in the River West. >> I can take you to River West. That if I absolutely can. >> If that will resolve this, then I will happily take >> I don't know. She just always says something. >> Who do you stay in River West with? I'm f to move and get my own apartment. >> So, who is she to you? >> Nobody. I don't know who she is. >> Well, obviously you live with her, so >> I don't know who she is. Like I said, >> okay. If you're not going to be cooperative with me and help me out here, then I'm not going to be cooperative with you. >> Okay. Don't be cooperative with me. You don't have to stand right here. Nobody asked you to. >> Okay. >> Why are you all the way in the car? I'm trying to play the music. She's still talking. >> She mad cuz I'm telling her cuz I said I wish I would say that. I wish. >> How old are you? >> But I am I will >> How old you are? >> I'm 18. How old are you? >> Significantly older than 18. >> Child statement. This is my child. The statement don't make no sense cuz my grandma is old as that little girl disrespect. It's just so much like I can't even say. First of all, she just she just think just because she's so that she can keep saying stuff to people however she want. I don't give >> then by all means when you get down to River West, pack your and get out. >> Then that's not a problem then. >> Okay. It's not a problem. >> Then we saw that. >> Number one. >> Oh, number one. >> You watch your mouth with me. >> That's what I thought. That's what I thought. >> That's what I thought. Don't Don't say nothing about me packing up if you're not going to help. >> I got a reason to help you. >> So don't tell me what you Everyone over here running in your mouth. >> She curses at the officers, mocks their questions, and makes it clear she's not interested in cooperating. >> I didn't touch her, but she better be like I didn't touch her. >> Go ahead. You can go to county and your kid to go to DCFS. Which one do you want? >> That's why I didn't touch her. >> Right. So, shutting up. >> Thank you. >> Stop saying stuff to me. >> Thank you. >> Thank you. >> What's grandma want? >> Uh her to go somewhere else. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> So, where you trying to go today? >> My house. >> Where's that? What the hell? >> It's hold up the hill. It's right here. It's right by our house. >> I'm honestly not trying to get grandma. Hey, if you don't get along with your grandma, that's one thing. But >> you daughter look after. I mean, you got to worry about that. Not this. >> I get to worry that. >> Okay. I'm come over here. What's your address? Okay, the police drop me off >> and she stopped the car. >> He's 15. >> He's down at the station. >> She talks about everybody talking about know she talking about me. She talking about >> she talked about like come back over the address on her website. >> I'm trying to help you. I'm going to give you a ride over there. You can yell at me. Yes. What's your address? >> Or you can walk. >> I will walk. >> Okay. Go ahead. >> Okay. >> It don't get y'all don't understand. >> Grab your stuff. Let's go. >> Why are you saying stuff? >> Grab Because I'm here because you're acting up. That's why I'm here. >> Cuz y'all pissing me off. >> Look, she telling me to calm down. You calm down. >> Put your stuff in the bag and let's go. Because I'm tired of you. All you do is talk. >> All you do is talk. >> Shut up. >> All you do is talk. >> All you do is talk. Don't you overdo it. >> Do not grab me. Do not grab. >> Stop. I'm not. >> I'm about to knock it off. Grab your bag and let's go. >> As tensions rise, she starts packing but refuses to do it without causing a scene. She repeatedly swears, argues, and shouts over everyone. >> Walk. >> Can I get my daughter? That's her daughter. >> Stop me in my face. What the >> You need to learn your >> It's locked here. Let me unlock. >> I don't have to learn. I'm tired of these people. What the >> only Put your hands behind your back. >> Put your hands Put your hands behind your back. [Music] >> Okay. >> I didn't do nothing to you. I didn't do nothing to >> everything on me because >> bring your hands behind your back. >> Oh my god. >> You're the one that You're the one that put yourself in this position. >> You grab my hand. You slam a door into me. We're not playing this game. You're going to jail. >> Oh my god. >> Can I put it here? >> Yeah. I'll walk across the way. Huh? >> Come on. We're going to my car. >> I'm trying to talk. Can I? >> No, you're not. [Music] >> You have anything on you that's going to poke me, sick me, or cut me? It's facing you. >> I hit her. >> She didn't cause this. >> Yes, she did cause this. Yes, she y'all don't know how she >> What caused this was you acting up and throwing a door into me. >> You could have just walked out like an adult and said you did this. >> Now you get to go to jail. >> You good? >> Oh, yeah. upset. >> It's always >> you got her name. >> I do not yet. >> What's your name? >> What's your name? >> Okay. >> While in the patrol car, her attitude remains the same. Despite her outbursts, officers stay professional throughout. >> Will they take that? Is that too big? >> I'll take it. Okay, perfect. Go ahead. >> You have everything necessary for the baby. >> I'm going to >> No, she's she's she's cooked. You can call >> besides fish. >> Let me uh let me run her real quick and see. All right. >> Thank you. >> What are you doing? >> You're acting more immature than your child. >> I don't care in my day. Tell me. [Music] >> When is they coming? >> I don't know. I called for them. They're on their way. that to get fresh air. It's hot in here. >> I'll roll your window down. >> That better.
