When you mix overconfidence with zero planning, you don't get a criminal mastermind. You get a mug shot. Here are five cases when stupid thieves are arrested. Number five, Target worker gets busted after quietly pocketing $5,000. Police respond to a theft report from a Target store where a staff member is accused of stealing cash from the registers. After digging into video surveillance and internal data, Target headquarters identified an employee as the source of the missing funds. Here's what happens next. >> So, what do you need from me? >> Do you want to go stand with them? >> Basically, just tell us what happened. >> Um, okay. So, I received a tip from the Target headquarters investigation that there's been cash stuff here at the store um about 30 days ago. So, starting June 20th, um the team member took money out of the drawer. Um this is him here. I can actually since I already have it up, I can just show you the video. Took it out of the register. >> Yeah, he removed it from the register and put it in his pocket. >> Um he already admitted to all the theft. Um we have them for about $800, but he admitted to close to 5,500. So, he's been doing it since he got since he started working here a year ago. >> He admitted to 5,500. Yeah. >> Um, how many different occurrences are there since June? >> Um, I actually have it off. Okay. >> I left my copy in there and I don't want to keep going in. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well, we have another officer with him now. So, >> you know, >> next time I have all this stuff printed for you. I just didn't know what exactly you guys needed. You said you like a sworn statement for me. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. this. I don't know why I like that, but it has his uh date of hire. Estimated loss is $824. Um that's the proven amount. So on the 20th, the 22nd, the 24th. Um so on the 20th, he took $139 out at 335. On the um um then yeah, at 12:47, he took out $160. at 155 he took out $125. Um 23rd at 1023 he took out $160. On 24th at 1151 he took out $240. Um so there was 1 2 3 4 five incidents that we can account for within the last 30 days which equals $824. >> Um >> storm management walks officers through five separate thefts that occurred over the past 30 days. Okay. So for the 20th since there's three different occurrences, what did he take it out of the same register all three times? >> No. So the POSOS is the like a register number. So at this time he took out a register 124. This time he took out a register 125. And at this time he took out a register 123. >> Okay. Um, and how often do you guys like count the money in the drawers? >> There's somebody that counts the money uh each Well, they don't count the money. They just remove the money out of the register and put it inside of the cash office and the cash office attendant the next morning counts all the money that's in the register, but she wouldn't know how much money is supposed to be there. That's what um that's kind of like what the uh the bank in uh Target headquarters does. She can only what she does just accounts for the money that's being sent out and then also just verifying there's no counterfeit bills that were accepted. >> Okay. So she counts each drawer separately. >> Yes. >> Okay. So she just counts the money and then somewhere down the line Target uh headquarters or the bank determines reconcile Y to say, "Okay, you guys sold this much on this register. You accepted let's say $500 in cash. So we should have $500 in bills coming in." But you only have 240 bills that came in. >> And then that's when like the Target headquarters looks into it, look at all the cash transactions, see each time the register was open. And that's how we got him on video, going into the register, taking money out, and then putting it in stock. >> So that's how you guys caught him was Target headquarters, was kind of doing the checks and balances. >> Exactly. Um >> once they've gathered the full picture, the officers confront the employee behind it all. Hello. >> Hi. >> I don't have anything on me. >> Got to make sure you got nothing on. >> Anything that's in the statement? >> Nope. >> Wallet. Yeah. Wallet, tobacco, cigarettes, lighter, keys, and so before we do anything, just in case, I'm just going to read. >> I required to warn you before you make any statement that you have the following constitutional rights. You have the right to remain silent and not answer any questions. >> Any statement you make must be freely. You have the right to the presence of representation of any statement. >> If you cannot afford a lawyer, you are entitled to the presence and representation of a court or a lawyer before you make any statement and during any questioning. >> If at any time during the interview you do not wish to answer any questions, you are privileged to remain silent. >> You can make >> I can make no threats or promises to induce you to make a statement. >> This must be of your own free will. Any statement can be and will be used against you in the court of law. You have any questions? Does that all make sense to you? >> Yes. >> You want to talk to us? >> There's nothing really to say. I mean, >> he acknowledges the thefts, says he was having financial problems, and admits he didn't think he'd get caught. >> It's pretty obvious. It's pretty obvious like what's going on, bro. >> Just having a hard time with money. >> Man, trust me, we all been in there sometimes. >> So, can you explain what was going on in your head at the time of those >> that I wasn't going to get caught? You're not going to get caught. And I knew that eventually over time and over time and over time it was going to build up and build up and I just I couldn't I couldn't stop myself from doing it and I wanted to. I'm like, "No, this is wrong. This is wrong. Can you um did you um can you specifically tell me like what registers you use? >> Um 12 like today or in general? >> Oh, you did today too? >> Well, yeah, but that was from yesterday that >> So this is from today and that was from the >> So all these all these instances were guest services. No, some from GU service and probably from registers. >> And so there's no >> uh how many times have you done this in total? >> I lost count. >> How many times? >> I mean that's that's the amount 5,000. >> So you took 5,200 >> that's what I that's the number that I could come up with. I couldn't there from what um Brandon or not Brandon >> from what the AP said he said that sounds about the roughly amount right that I took. >> So you work today? >> Yes. >> Okay. What were your hours today? >> 10 to 4:30. >> 10 to 4:30. Okay. So at 4:30 when you went to clock out like what happened? >> No, I just I haven't I wasn't able to tell cuz they pulled me in here. >> Oh, okay. >> Yeah. >> And then you've just been here since? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So like today, when did do you remember like what time it was when 11:30 to 12 when I took that? >> So when when these things are happening, do you specifically work at those registers or >> um I'm just coming up to help with lines or they'll call for backup and I'll help them with that. And then once the lines are clear, that's when >> the suspect admits he'd sometimes jump in to help during busy hours and that's when he'd swipe cash without anyone noticing. >> Okay. And then so you're never specifically tasked by your um you know your management to work any registers? >> No. No. My main thing is carts, but I'm also cross-trained on guest service and driver and also register. So when I say hey >> how many times would you say that you would actually be tked to work register? >> Um is that ever >> or do you? >> There were a few there were a few times yes that I was tked to do registers. >> What would be a few times? Uh like three or four times. >> Three or four times. And you've been working how long here? >> Uh 11 almost a year. >> So you've been working here almost a year and you've been asked three or four times to work the registers. >> No, no, no. There's no Okay, let me start over. From when I started, I was started off as guest service and that was my task. So I would guest service. got service is taking returns um taking out drive up orders and doing um on those guest services section. >> Yes. >> How long did you do that for? >> Uh for about I'd say 3 months. >> Okay. >> And then they switched it over to card attendant cuz that's what I was originally hired for. >> So you've been working card attendant for approximately eight months. Is that correct? >> Yeah, I would say so. So out of all the eight months, out of those eight months that you've been working card attendant, were you ever tasked to work the registers throughout that time at all? >> Yes. >> Are those the front registers where people check out or the customer? >> Registers or guests? >> And how many times would that be? Like maybe a few times, you said? >> Yeah, like three or four times. >> Three or four times. So out of the eight months, you only work three or four times in the cash registers. Correct. >> Yeah. >> What started as a spur-ofthe- moment decision slowly turned into a full-on habit. Um, so obviously they spoke to you about a few dates in June. So on any of those days, were you working the registers or were you doing >> I wasn't um tasked to do it, but they were getting backed up on drive up. So I hopped on the desk to help cut out the line and then the same with the registers, they were backed up, so I hopped on the registers to help clear the lines out. So >> So how would you log into the registers? through my um my device >> through your device. >> Yeah. >> And that device is strictly assigned to you. >> Yeah. >> All right. And how do you log into that device >> with the store number which is >> okay and then >> and then you would put in your ID number >> and what would be your ID number? >> 76557914. >> You got that offender. >> Can you repeat the numbers one more time? 76557914. >> Okay. Thank you. >> And then my PIN would be uh 561 305. >> You said 561305. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> So, >> does that match up? >> Yeah. >> So, how do you So, what do how do you how do you log into the register using that? >> I just with the little it has a little >> like a scan. >> Yeah. And it just scans and it locks you in. >> And then it logs you in on the register. You have to scan like the register barcode. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. The register. Yeah. >> He claims that he used his assigned device to access different registers, cleared out lines, and took advantage of brief distractions to manually open drawers and pocket the money. >> So, walk me through what you were doing when you would log into the registers. Um, I would just take my device and scan in and then I would just, >> um, you know, finish the line, whichever line was there, whether that be gut service or there, and then, you know, I'd look, make sure no one was looking, and then I go in the drawer and take them off. >> Okay. Does the drawer open automatically when you >> No, I would push there was a side icon where you could open the drawer and it brought down a drop down menu. You open drawer and that's how the drawer would open. >> Okay. So, you have to manually press buttons in order to open the drawer. Yeah. >> Okay. Has anybody I guess like ever said anything to you about this before today? >> No. >> Okay. >> So, guess I'll show them. Just make sure. Um, hold on. Apparently, we can't make these bigger. Oh, >> get the phone out of them. >> Yeah. >> How much money did you take today? >> 140. >> So, I mean, is this familiar to you? >> Yeah. >> Like this area? What can you can you describe to me like what area of the store this is? >> That's got service. >> Got services. Okay. So, the person on the top there, >> that's me. >> That's you. >> Yes. >> Okay. What register, what register is that? Do you know? >> I don't know if they're numbered. I But I >> Okay. >> I Yeah, >> but that's you at a guest service register. >> Clearly. Yeah. >> Okay. >> I'm not going to die. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> And just to seal the deal, surveillance footage confirms it all. Um, so did the store kind of explain to you that they were going to call us? >> Um, I kind of figured. >> Okay. >> I mean, it's obvious. It's over $1,000, which in law terms isn't that federal. I mean, they can't that lead death or I don't know how it goes. >> Yeah. Um, okay. So, you're So, you kind of know what's going to happen then, right? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, >> is there any way I could use the bathroom before? I mean, there's a family restroom that I could use. >> We once we get you. >> Okay. All right. >> Face the wall. >> Put your hands together like you're saying a prayer. You should take a picture of that, too. >> Though cooperative, he is arrested and charged with felony grand theft. In court, he receives a sentence of 2 years of probation and 100 hours of community service. Number four, sticky fingers at Wahberers lands employee in jail. A 19-year-old employee at Wahberers is arrested after stealing cash from a co-orker's locker. The incident begins when another staff member notices her money is missing from her purse which was stored in the break room. Here's what happens when officers arrive to investigate. >> So, how it happened is that I because you're not going to say that to a man, right? >> And then she like out of nowhere like she started screaming. She's like, "No, my money. Where's my money? Where's my money?" I'm like, "What do I do?" like >> she's screaming for her money, you know. >> Uhhuh. >> And then she she's like she went to go talk to Sue and then that's what happened. That's what I heard that happened. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> No, she she was going to, but then she started screaming. So then she just put him back in her purse and that's it. >> Okay. >> Yeah, she was going to. >> Okay. >> You can ask her that. >> She started looking through her purse and saying like, "Oh, my money. Where's my money?" And that's it. >> Okay. Um, >> okay. Um, so I watched a bunch of video. >> Yeah. >> Um, >> you took the money from the locker. >> No. >> Okay. >> You didn't take any money? >> I didn't take any money from my locker. >> Yeah, I didn't. >> Okay. >> No. >> Do you have any money on your person right now? >> On my person? No. >> Nothing. Nothing in your >> Yeah, right here. I just have my push. That's cool. Is there anything else? >> No. You can pat me down if you want. >> Okay. No, I'm good. Uh, can you just like Is there anything in your shirt? >> There's nothing in my shirt. >> Anything like that? >> Okay. >> Nothing. >> Um, if a female officer came here to search, you're okay with it? >> When confronted, the suspect initially denies everything. She tells the officer she has no money on her, invites a search, and tries to keep calm. >> Okay. Um, and and how about your uh So, here's here's the deal. >> Yeah. >> Here's what I'm going to tell you. Okay. >> I watched the video. Okay. It it it looks like, you know, you're you're the only one who it could have been at at all the video I watched and you know, I kind of saw some other stuff that, you know, I think you have the money. This is what I'm going to tell you right now. Just to make everything easier. I don't even have to. We don't have to wait around for a female officer, nothing like that. if we can get the money back to her, we can make this I I'm just tell I'm just telling you right now before we we go uh you know any further is like if you know something happened between you two or maybe you took some money from her uh her personal wallet or whatever um this can go away. Okay. She just she she's already stated you know you're you're 19. Are you 19? >> Yes. >> Okay. You're 19. You're young. She she doesn't believe um I asked her because we obviously she doesn't know who it is. Um you know like if I can you know determine who took the money, do you want them arrested? And I have a pretty good idea of who I think took the money. Okay. Uh you're 19. If you have the money, I'm telling you right now, we can get the money. We can place it back in her locker and we can make this go away. Okay? And if you don't want to do that, then I have to continue with my legal process. Okay. Continue. And it's going to end up in handcuffs and the police department and the court system. Yeah. >> So So can we get the money back? >> Yeah, >> we can. Where is it? >> In my purse. >> In your purse. Okay, let's >> But she's not going to know who it is. >> Let's Let's go to the purse. >> Okay. Can Can I just ask you, you know, why you took it? >> Because it's not that I have a problem with her or anything. I'm being honest right now. Like I don't have any like money, anything like u my works too and and like we're struggling right now with money. >> Eventually, the young woman admits to the theft. She says she's been struggling financially and didn't plan the act out of spite. >> Okay. Where do you live? >> I live in uh >> Okay. Okay. >> I want you to understand like that. >> Yeah. >> That is some dirty stuff. >> You do not want to do that. Okay. You're better than that. How? You're 19. >> Yeah. I've never I've never done that. Yeah. >> Uh you can grind and you can make make some money. I get it. I understand. >> This is my first time doing it. like >> pick up overtime, you know, this and that. Um, do you know how much money it was total? >> Uh, like >> I didn't count it. I just took it. So, I did it. >> Okay. What did you see? Uh, you take it out of the pink wallet in the inside of the purse. Okay. There's just a bundle. >> Took like a $100 bill off top. Maybe some 20s. >> Let's go, too. I'll grab your ID and stuff, too. [Music] [Music] Uh, can >> can you guys give me a few? >> No. >> No, no, no, no. >> Is this everything? >> Yeah. Give me your ID. >> No. Yeah. >> She points the officers to her purse where the stolen bundle of cash is found. Mostly hundreds and 20s taken straight from the victim's wallet. Yeah. She said she was going to get fired. >> You said what? >> I was going to get fired. She said I was going to get fired. >> Who? >> She said you're going to get fired. When? >> She said that if she finds whoever it is that she was going to get fired. >> Do you have a driver's license or just ID? Just ID. >> Just ID. Okay. It's needed for the report. >> What's your address >> and then uh phone number for you? >> Yeah. Okay. All right. Um, guess you're you're good to go back to work. Uh, for now, I'm going to go give her her money back, speak with them, and make sure everything's good, and then probably get out of here. Um, >> the money is returned, the report is written, and her future is now tangled with legal consequences over a decision she made in a moment of need. Do >> you have to give them back anything? >> No. over here. >> Take your purse. >> You don't have anything illegal in your purse, right? >> No. >> No. >> Anything. Anything in your waist. Come out. >> That's it. >> All right. Just hands right behind you. >> Thank you. Um, should be maybe an hour or so. >> Wrist. Okay. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Making sure they don't walk up anymore here. Oh, [ __ ] I'll run her around. You want to say real quick? >> I got her out. I got her. Uh, I'm going to need it again. She's placed under arrest. Her ID is collected and she's transported to the station. >> Got all her stuff. >> Okay. >> 133 copy transport. [Music] >> One female in custody. And just when you think it's over, officers find paraphernelia on him, turning what could have been a simple citation into a list of serious charges. [Applause] The man is cited for several offenses including retail theft, obstructing identification, possession of paraphernalia, resisting arrest, and criminal trespass. Number two, tried to snatch $50. Now facing thousands in charges. A woman calls the police after her boyfriend runs off with her last $50. He snatched $50 out of my purse. >> Snatched it. >> Snatch my purse. Yeah, that's what happens. You shouldn't have did that. >> Once the man is detained, the officer shifts focus to the woman, getting her side of the story about what led to this moment. >> Do you need an ambulance? Do you need an ambulance? >> No, I just want my $50 and I will go back home. >> So, all this happened inside your house? I was laying down right >> inside your house. >> I look up. He snatched my $50 and ran out the house. >> Okay. >> I just chased. >> Were you carrying your purse or >> It was on my door. >> It was on your door. All right, we're just going to throw you in the car. I'm not going to listen to you at all. >> I don't think they're up yet. She has double [Applause] >> while he's being cuped. She explains what happened, pointing out that she just wants her money back, not to press charges. >> Yep. How much money's there, my man? That's That's how Hey, Scott. Hey, Scott. Like like $6,000. Hey, Scott. Scott, please get my money. >> I'm going to grab the camera. >> All right. [Applause] He says there's about 6,000. So >> 69. >> I'm not seeing on the south end. This is a domestic over 50 bucks. We got enough resources here. >> All right. Time four. >> Bye. burning. >> One in custody 946. >> Yeah. >> Were you guys just hanging out today or >> he came I wanted to pick him up last night. >> He claimed I made him lose his bracelet, right? A Louis Vuitton bracelet. >> So he slept over. >> So this morning he like, "You going to pay for another bracelet?" I'm like, "No, why would I pay for another bracelet?" And I didn't lose it. So, he was mad because I said, "I'm not paying for a bracelet." I look up, he snatched my money out of my purse and left out the house. Ran out the house with my money. >> I said, "Just you weren't wearing the purse or anything like that?" >> It was on my door. >> It was hanging on your door. >> Yes. I seen him snatch the money out of my purse. >> All right. >> So, I chased him. >> So, he slept over your house. What time did you pick him up yesterday? >> Like 2:00 in the morning. >> 2 in the morning. >> Well, that happened today then in the morning. >> Yes. This just all happened in the morning. I was sleep and he said, "Oh, so you don't care about measuring my bracelet." He lives. So I just chased him and I said, "Why would you take my last $50? I have to pay a bill." >> Despite her reluctance, the police moved forward with charges. >> He said he don't care. So we started tustling for >> How long you guys been dating for? >> Two years. >> Two years. >> Two years. You got two years. >> I just want my 50. I just guessed. I just wanted my $50. I wouldn't even call the police. Did you even call? Yes, I told somebody to call police for me because if I didn't, he would have fought me and then or he would have just left with my $50. I needed >> I needed my money. I'm sorry. >> Yeah, >> I needed it. >> He's going to go to jail for it cuz he's got a bunch of illegal stuff. Okay. I will I will hold his money for him since he won't be here. >> Well, that's probably not going to happen. >> What are you What are you going to do? Are you going to cooperate with an investigation for him beating you and taking your money? >> Sure. >> So, you got to come to the police station. >> Right now, I got to go to work. >> Oh, you got Spencer telling me at some point? He's in custody. So, >> Okay. >> You want to say any type of complaints against him? >> I I just want my $50. >> So, you don't want to pursue any charges against him or anything? >> No. No. No. No. ter. >> I just want my $50. I got to pay a bill. him. >> Yeah. And then the reason for it whatever you want personal I don't want to whatever you want here. >> Now instead of walking away with just $50, he's hit with serious felony charges and a whole lot more consequences than he ever expected. >> He drive to your place. >> No, I picked him up. >> You got a car? He was going to go, but >> you guys were were dating, right? Put the phone in the bag. >> Put the phone in the bag. >> Look up the receipts for that. That's the stuff that I put up on the phone. >> But you said you have Okay. So, it's Capital One. >> Let us finish our investigation and then whatever question is asked, then you can go ahead and do whatever. One woman insists she has receipts on her phone, but police halt phone use until the evidence is sorted. >> Again, once it gets to that, then we'll go from there. I got you. But right now, while we're conducting investigation, no one's going to be on their phones. And once it comes and if he asks, cuz he's the primary officer on it, or if they say, "Hey, hey, yeah, let's see if they have a receipt on the phone." then you go ahead. But right now, no phones while while you're detained and we're conducting an investigation. So, just allow us to finish allow them to finish doing what they're doing and then you guys may get the chance to be able to get whatever receipts that you're saying you have. >> But you it's for it's from another sach. >> This one. >> Okay. I'm pretty sure was if you shop here. So, >> okay. Now, >> this working for this is not this is not included into that receipt. So, everything that we have a valid another transaction for is the items that that we have that have a valid proof of purchase that you that you stole. But I didn't steal that because I You didn't recover that from me is what I'm trying to clarify. >> Where did the things go that were recovered? Those >> all of that. >> Yes. >> These are the items that we No, this is this is the thing that we do. >> We saw who selected what. So what you selected is what you're being charged for. What you selected is what you're being charged for. >> That wasn't my It's not I bought the bought this all of this because on this >> correctain >> officers worked with store staff to separate what each woman is responsible for. >> Yeah, you can send it to the >> all the stuff that was over here. Is this both of their stuff that was okay? Can we separate it? >> I need to know which one is which. All right. So, do me a favor so we don't like everyone's speaking at once. So, just wait. Let them separate first and then he will speak to you cuz obviously he's dealing with you now. And then he'll go to her. >> I got you. >> So, just wait again. Just wait. Let them sort everything and then once he does >> I got you. Just give me a second. >> I see on this slip on this receipt here. One, two, three, >> four things. >> Okay, perfect. Put that here. >> Wait. Just wait. >> Uh, >> Susanna. >> Problem. >> One second. Ma'am, Susanna only. >> You're going to have a minute here. Hold on. You don't have to get up. Do you have receipts for this stuff? >> I have receipts for >> Where is it? >> For for all the stuff that I p That's not my stuff. Well, they found explain to you. >> Well, they they recovered this on >> No, they didn't recover it from me. >> They didn't recover it from every at this point. They're going to continue to lie. >> Cuz nobody's lying. Why are you doing this to me? I >> One second. Hey. Hey. >> Sus. Hey guys. Let's here. Time out. Let's stop going back and forth cuz that just going to get everyone fired up, right? >> This stuff was recovered in this bag. >> Yes. >> Which one second? One second. Second. They were in in a separate bag >> and she walked out. >> Yes. >> No, I did not. >> One second. One second. Stop talking. Susanna, >> please pull the camera back because I did not want Once you finish speaking, he's we're going to get to the bottom of it before you see what he just said. He's asking for video footage to look at it. So, you have to give us a second. We were not here. That's the reason for us being here. >> Video footage confirms which items each person selected and concealed. So now he's trying to look at the footage for it. Just one second. At this point, >> please [Music] come back out. >> There's nothing in the elevator. >> Have a seat. >> You could see in the Do you see the bag? >> She's going to pull it. She's going to pull the camera. like something when they left the store right before she put it on. >> If we need to move the values of the receipts around, we could do that. >> Hey, listen. That's not up to her. >> I'm telling you. I'm telling you. You guys are both under arrest. >> No, officer. I didn't Nothing. I'm just being honest with you. I don't want to get >> I'm telling you right time out. You keep talking over me. Very rude. Very disrespectful. I'm telling you what's going to happen. You guys are right now both under arrest. You understand that part? >> Okay. >> So, we're I'm trying to figure out who took what. That's all. So, I don't want to charge you for something that she took and I'm not going to charge you for something that she took. >> Absolutely. >> Right. So, we're going to get to the bottom of it. >> I'm just being super honest with you. >> Okay. Well, you haven't been up until this point. What what matters based off >> you brought this up in and I just watched you on camera taking it off the shelves. >> Listen, Susanna, you told me you brought this up in return. >> They look similar. >> Despite claims that some of the items were purchased, it's clear from surveillance that several high-v valueue pieces were taken without payment. >> I have two baby >> and I feel like But you also >> I'm not charging you with any of that stuff. >> But but you misunderstood what what I was trying to tell you is that the baby that she pulled out that she said if I had receipts for that's what I had. >> I'm out. >> That's all. >> And then Huh? >> That's Melissa's >> mine. >> Sorry. This >> Yeah, she's Yeah, she's saying that >> I want that with that band right there. That was my That was my cover up that I spent $1,000 on right now. She left the stuff and you decided to take the stuff. >> But she didn't you said. >> No, I said that I >> Yeah, that you left it and and you decided that you wanted I it's literally recorded. I can replay what she said. >> And you end up taking taking the stuff. >> So that's the that that's the thing. understood that you are the one listen the the you're understood that you're the one that >> took the stuff but she had knowledge of it and she participated because you used her bags to conceal as well as her shoe box. So you didn't you guys never separated in the store. So it's not like she didn't know that you used her red bottom box to conceal items because one shoe per red bottom bag. The shoes were removed and replaced with clothing to stuff the bags. You guys never separated. It's a different thing if you guys separated in the store >> and then you had the items. >> She didn't know until right now. >> Officers note that the two women never separated while inside and used each other's bags to conceal stolen goods. The shared concealment becomes a key factor in the charges. No, no, I get I get I get that. No, no. I I get that. I get what you're saying. I definitely get what you're saying. No, >> again, I get what you're saying. I understand what you're saying as well. >> But what I'm saying, you know, it's not their fault. >> I got you. up to you guys >> to take. Oh, obviously your phone is in here, correct? >> Your phone is in here. >> So, we want to take your phone. Oh, you want to leave your phone? >> I'll take my phone's >> It's in her. Do you have an iPhone? >> All right. I'll charge it for you. So, you have some some battery in it. >> Um, you want to take your purse with you? That wasn't my paid for. >> Sit down. As officers begin laying out the charges, the mood quickly changes. [Music] [Music] >> She said the >> wrist and the hair. >> I make the decisions. Okay. >> But that's what I'm trying to tell you. I walked down with the stuff that I paid for. She walked out with the stuff she paid for, >> but the facts tell a different story. Surveillance footage and staff statements leave little room for doubt. >> I don't get why I'm just getting a trespassing, right? >> You can't take those persons out nose and >> stand up. Stand up. Stand up. >> You don't want to take any of your stuff off. So, >> stand up. >> Same thing for you. Stand up. >> Turn around. Please give me a wrist. Put your hands behind your back. >> Turn them in like a prank. Turn them in like a prank. Turn them in like your >> I didn't do it. >> Turn them in like this. Look. Turn them in like that. >> I didn't. Why you taking me to jail? Please don't do this because I Why would you take the person to jail when I spent 1,500 just now? I still please the something I walked out with wasn't even done. That wasn't my stuff. Please be >> I'm done with this. >> What are you going to make? You weren't going to take a minute to put this to jail. >> I'm not. >> Are you able to carry this out? >> Please don't like that. She's like, "I'm telling you, I didn't steal that stuff.
