these kids were left alone like they didn't matter but the cops weren't about to let that slide here are five cases when cops rescue kids abandoned by ruthless parents number five this is what happens when you abandon your kids in the car a call comes in about a young child left alone in a car outside a restaurant responding quickly officers find a 4-year-old left in a running vehicle hi on bud literally was in line you were in for 30 minutes I'm so sorry okay well we're going to place your hands we got to detain you first oh my God you can't leavey in the car bu for 30 minutes oh my God how does that even go through your mind the on it just into the it would if somebody fing took him way over minutes ever again what if they abducted your kid it's been way over 30 minutes it's not safe oh your brother thank he's in he's in boka oh my God I'm going I'm going to have a heart attack the car the AC was on and if somebody breaks that window and steals your son and you never see him again what's going to be your excuse for that one the AC was on oh my God I men he was reving up the if he put that he was he put it in Drive he'd be out onto oh my God dead in the middle of Linton and I'd left close he's in uh he's in boka okay due to her decision to leave her child unattended for a prolonged period the mother finds herself in cuffs and at the back of a patrol car in no time okay so this is going to happen obviously you're being arrested your brother is as ready to pick up your kid okay I'm just going to take your phone and your ID that'll go with you the rest of your belongings will be taken or given to your brother have my IC tea please so I don't they're not going to allow you to have that in the jail so we're not going to give it to you if you need a couple more sips I take it or if he comes um if not we aren't allowed to tow it because this is private property but if they don't want is sitting here if the owner doesn't want it here then they will probably tow it um but most likely I think she's a worker so I'll be able to find out that information for you um you'll see a judge um and that he'll decide if he wants to set a bond for you or whatever the case may be today um probably not today cuz it's it's a weekend overnight you may have to stay overnight but I don't know the the jail protocol when we get to the jail there'll be people there that work there that can answer more questions for you I promise it's not going to be as bad as what you're thinking okay but you have to work with me so that we can make sure that we get it I get I get it a lot so what do you need do you need to be checked out I can have FD come here and check you out but you'll still have to go you you'll still have to go if F comes and checks you out do you need medical no okay would you say it was for a pretty good it was longer than 15 minutes right um I wouldn't say 15 10 to 15 because that store is packed and the line is long okay so what I will tell you is they called um someone from here someone from albc called because they were told by a customer there was a kid outside in a car by himself lady came out and she said she was standing out here for at least 25 minutes and that was before they noticed I don't think it was 25 minutes so we weren't here so I'm not saying I don't believe you I get it I get it I get it um minutes but that was hour go checked on the kid make sure the kid was okay saw the car was running I went back inside and asked every single person that was in the building if they had a great BMW or if they were missing a child um no one had there was no one in um to go waiting on food or anything like that so I came back outside immediately called 911 and waited for you guys to get here while keeping an eye on a child okay and you would say how how long would you say um before you guys got here was probably that the child was in the car to my knowledge it was about 25 minutes okay and you didn't see the mother anywhere car no I stood out here from other than going inside to make see make sure there was no one inside my building that did that um I stood right here right by the car but not to scare the kids so I kind of moved back every once in a while um and no one no one came up awesome yeah she thank you very much once everything is in order the officers finalize the arrest I wish I can say the same door to step into that red box and Brace the sun step up a little bit more foring do you want to take a sip of your tea yeah okay oh my God this is like I don't know it's just we don't obviously you know this and neglect and taken into custody number four mom's desperate getaway leaves child in danger a police officer pulls over a vehicle for a routine traffic stop in a parking lot everything seems standard at evidence and possession of illegal substances number three dad leaves his kid at the playground and pays the price a call comes in about a young child left alone at a playground for over an hour concerned citizens report that no adult has been seen with a child and police arrive to investigate officers eventually locate a man in a nearby parking lot who claims to be the child's father you can the the person who's out there now yeah the girl was in the driver's seat and then I believe there was a black male in the passenger I believe okay but for sure the woman that we're talking to was completely slumped over and where were the children at uh they were in the back and the windows were down and the car was running okay would you be willing to provide like a recorded statement of just official cor of what you saw absolutely okay awesome thank you of course sir um she did go in and get some water from cherries but I was right here watching and everything you know so like this looks like an airplan like they are a little out of control that go yeah you away from your kids okay so I'm going to be very blunt with you and this is going to go one or two ways okay yes ma'am uh we have reason to uh take all three children in pregn custody um and so that's what we're going to do okay you and I both know what's going on here that's why we're here hi baby what's going on tell me we've had multiple Witnesses calling in about all of your children they're filthy you and somebody else were in there passed out in the car we have multiple Witnesses yes I'm not like I said it's going to have my sister come well that's what I'm saying is that's why you can come back and we're going to have that direct conversation about somebody that you deem because they always try to keep them with family right but as far as the police are concerned we intervene when we give the Child Safety is Jeopardy right we're the initial contact then what happens is the CPS gets involved and then they will find a family member if you can find one that can pass the background check that you feel safe with to take the children into custody while resources or whatnot gets gets presented to you whether that be different shelter whether that be some drug stuff but as far as we're concerned and the amount of information that we've gotten from a multiple third party unrelated right we're not just here picking on you that's what I always tell people is that we're here because something's going on we know we wouldn't be here I'm not contacting that car or anybody else no yeah I hear you okay I understand I'm not going to give you any problem I just I I really um I don't agree you know um and typically people do well yeah no I am going through some things you know but uh I was never passed because of accusations the officers act quickly to protect the kids ensuring they receive the care they need of multiple people reporting the same thing and that your children have been running around as of right now right now like you know it's that's not fair as of right now they're not facing any criminal charges it's just being fored to the prosecutor based upon the S police officers when we get a 911 call and then we hear multiple people all reporting the same thing we have to intervene in what's best for what we can see the totality of the circumstances and what's best for the children right and so that's what we're doing whether or not charges get filed with the prosecutor or they decline the case that's up to them and then CPS comes in and if there's resources that need to be offered they will they try to make a they call it like an emergency action plan so then so then how come so then I'm just asking also so then why wouldn't I why wouldn't I be able to get my kids back because I'm taking them in protective C and CPS again we just intervene and if do you have prior CPS involvement at all no okay none at all no okay no Tri prior like children taken okay then that will the time I'm call about my kids and everything about all the time you know mean but she takes them and runs off and then you know I can't say nothing they're in her custy they're not in mine you know what I mean yeah but I'm there no custody but you know mean I don't push that because there's native laws you know I mean and the native law is M win they win you know what mean uh so that this doesn't answer my question when the last time that you actually physically saw him like like like I seen him let me see I went to work this morning so I was at the T house okay so from the T house I seen him yesterday morning no yesterday night I came through we ate wax he me I got B some food all that to the house and I no he admits that the mother has been unstable but says he had no no control over her actions where are you living that would be more than likely where the children reside okay I would be living in ch okay because I I well I really wouldn't be living until if I had my kids it would be different because I'd be living in a three-bedroom house and I would just drive to work every day than just living down the telum where my job is see what I'm saying okay okay so then the the truth of the story is is that based upon everything again and they also look at previous CPS history right has there been CPS history before with your children but with your specific three children yeah okay and then look at prior criminal history of you and current driving status like your dbls 3 you're not supposed to be driving so then how are and I don't know about you is your license suspended no no okay and that's what we're going to go all of these things get taken in consideration because it's about at this point in time it's about the children they are covered in dirt they smell very badly they were it looks like they've been liing out that car she said they've been liing out that car for about a week now or saying at some Motel she couldn't name because you and her have been fighting and so again we always are doing what's what we believe is best of the children so when CPS gets here we look at everything and be given hold on hear me out hear me out but again based upon everyone's telling a different story no one's giving a straight answers all I know is that we were called and found these children in dangerous situation and I'm always going to do what I can to protect you want to them yes yeah absolutely and I'm very passionate I have my own kids kids don't get to speak for themselves but based upon the dirt and their smell it's they don't smell like they've taken a shower in days and days like it's not good it's it's very apparent that they've not been taken care of they all wet themselves at night time and when they correct and they it sounds like they have it smells like they have been sitting in it for quite some time so again my kids is messy listen I ain't going to lie to you my kids is bad as here okay and they messy okay you know what I mean but they they was not like that last night officers review both parents' histories and find that they have prior legal issues which complicates the case further well they they smell as if like I said they've been in their own field for quite some time so no they all my family has we pee on until we like 16 at the bed all that we have diapers at the house and all that but you know mean when Mom text on he says I can't step up and get I'm telling you I can't because there's a native law that I have been the same thing if you look me up right now same thing with the next B all I do is chase them I'm in court cases I'm in all that I know I know I senior criminal history I know there's extensive criminal history but what I'm saying is is at the end of the day we are trying to do what's best for them we work with what we know what their past history is what our past history is and then based upon what we believe is going to be the safest option for the children that's what we go with so as it stands right now CPS isn't here do you have your ID on you yeah I would love to run you if you don't mind real quick problem we tell them everything and we try to make a plan they're always going to try to put the children back with the safest family me member that they're there is right if you've tell my my lieutenant and my other partner that she's been crazy for a month but then she's got the kids right then I ask you why on Earth would you let those children go with somebody who's been not well and been fighting right if you know she's been off or she's been doing and she's been falling asleep in cars then a reasonable person would say okay Dad why on Earth would you let those kids go with them right and so then my concern is not just about her choices but then your choices right because I care that's my job is to protect those kids so that's all of the things that we're taking consideration we don't take this kind of stuff lightly um and we just want to make sure when I go home tonight that I have full faith that those kids are safe and taken care of that is the only thing that I care about does that make sense okay we're at that we're at that I always say when we take him into protective custody it's like a big pause button we're going to go pause because that's this point in time they were not safe and we need to try to figure out what safe looks like so it's a big pause so before you can come see him or we can release them we have to they outlined the next steps emphasizing that the children's safety comes first we're at that we're at
