God, help please. For the love of God. Please. That's why I recommend you just take a seat. No. Please. Please. Please. I understand that. What's going to happen to me? Well, at this point, that's why I ask if you have any kind of arrest history or anything because depending on the situation, which at this point is my hands now, it's up to She pleads with the officers not to arrest her. But at this point, the damage is done and now she has to face the consequences. This is not the end of the road. What's going to happen to me today? I I can't tell you what's going to happen today. What do I have to do? I can I can tell you what I can tell you for sure is Target is prosecuting. So Target is pressing charges for the theft today. Target will also be Can you please give me a chance to just please don't do this to me? No. So Target will also be trespassing today. Okay. So on my end, I can guarantee you that's what will happen today. God right to talk to a lawyer and have hammer up her present with you while you're being questioned. If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, one will be appointed to represent you before any questioning if you wish. You can decide at any time to exercise these rights and not answer any questions or make any statements. Do you understand each of these rights as I've explained to you? What's going on today? What what happened? I made a huge mistake. Okay. Oh, no. This is not who I am. Promise you. I'm ashamed. My mommy raised me this way. This is killer. This is Okay. So, what what did you do that got you in this position tonight? Stole. Okay. Did you I mean, how did you go about that? Cuz I'm being told that you concealed some things. I'm being told that you ticket, switch some items. Like, what what's the deal? Yeah. Yes. Both. I put a few dollar sticker on it. And I Despite her emotional appeals, the officers stay calm and professional, explaining the target is pressing charges and outlining what happens next. Yes, sir. I don't know if I should swim. I don't know for a lawyer. I don't know what's going to happen to me. Please, I don't know. I'm very scared. Please tell me what's going to happen to me. I don't I don't know. I haven't made that decision yet. Okay. Okay. But what I will say is nobody put you in this position. I know. I'm so ashamed. I am so ashamed. Trust me, sir. So, I I'll give you kind of the the the two pretty much the two options that we have here. Okay. The first option is you end up going to county jail and you get booked. Okay. The second option is that we issue you what's called a notice to appear. Okay. Basically what that is is it's a charging affidavit. You're still getting charged and you would be released from here. You would be given a court date. Okay. And you would have to appear in court. Okay. That decision is made on a variety of factors. Okay. Depends on your previous history. It depends on your cooperation with us. Okay. It's ultimately it's not at my partner's discretion if we choose to do that or not. Okay. Have you ever been arrested before? Not for anything like this. What were you arrested for? Um years ago fighting with my boyfriend and domestic I believe the charges were dropped. Um just have you ever failed to appear for court? No. Okay. Do you live in Palm Coast? Yes, sir. I'm so ashamed. Well, listen, what's done is done. I don't know. Like I said, better than this, I'm so ashamed. She continues to cry and plead, saying she doesn't deserve sympathy, but is desperate to avoid jail. What can I do? What's like the what's like the reason for I mean, like there's no Do you have money or what? I have I I live in Palm Coast. I live alone. Um my roommate moved out a few weeks ago by leaving me a note on a napkin. Um my rent has gone up through the roof in the last couple years. Um I work as much as I can. However, um I just it's expensive. It's like none of this stuff is like it's hard for me to have any sympathy at all. Like wrinkle wrinkle releasers, socks, pants. My my mother um is very sick. She has heart problems. She's a heart condition. She's 78 years old and um she was going to fly home to Pennsylvania to see family. Um but she asked me to she can't fly because of going to the doctor said better. So she asked me to if I would drive with her. So I'm driving her. We're going it's travel things is why so that's quiet and other things and this for traveling no and pants and organiz organizer I know I was for work terrible thing I know it was so I'm very scared. What can I do? It's already done. There's nothing else to do. What? Can you tell me what's going to happen to me? We're reading the rest of your history, but I don't feel bad at all for you. I You shouldn't I don't deserve sympathy, sir. I don't It's not like this is food or something. Absolutely. You're absolutely right. Absolutely. She insists the items she took were meant for travel or for work, not for luxury, and continually apologizes. I don't know. I don't know if it's going to end in an arrest. I don't know if it's going to end in Oh, boy. end in a You're absolutely right. I don't know. That's for me and my partner to talk about. You're absolutely right. But guys, honest truth. Um it's travel things. My mother has a very She's 70 years old. the heart um congestive heart failure um AIB. She just got a implant, a um defibrator put in. Um we love our football team and we're going to be in the Super Bowl. She's wanted to go home to see her family, my cousins, her niece, my godmother, godaughter, babies that were born in in Pennsylvania. Um, she asked me if I would drive her and that's why she said it might be the last time she sees her family. And I'm so ashamed to wake up and I'm not trying to dean with you, but it's the guns on this trip. Officers search her belongings and prepare her for transport. She's cooperative throughout the process, though clearly devastated by the situation. I don't want you to me. I know. I know. Well, then you just got to handle the consequences. I mean, I don't know. Yes, sir. If I have to go to jail, does that mean I have to be there all day? All right. Does that work? No, you can post bond if um I don't know what the bond would be set. So, you'd have to It's determined there. You'd have to get booked into the jail. Oh my god. Please go. [Music] Muting for discussion. So we can we can we can stop the the games. Okay. Oh my god. [Music] Like either way that I'm telling you that that act is not going to sway our decision one way or the other. No act, sir. I'm so ashamed. She's I'm going to be the one. She's a wonderful person. not available. All right. Can you just stand up and face away from me, please? Can you just put your hands behind your back? Don't worry about it first. Can you tell me what happens to it? We're going to take it. Can you I promise I I won't run or anything. I know. I'm not saying you're going to. Oh my god. Unfortunately, neither her mother's illness nor her tears are enough to keep her out of jail. [Music] You want to go with you? I don't know what else to do with it. Sorry. You going to leave it in the car? I was going to put it in my car. We could put it in if you want to leave it in there. That's probably not smart, but if you want to leave it there. If you have your personal belongings and stuff in there, I'd recommend taking it with you. Taking my purse with me. You have anything in here? Any weapons, nar or any other stolen merchandise? Okay. All right. Anything else on you at all? No, sir. Where'd you put the the cash and stuff? I put I believe I put in my purse. All right. I'm going to go here, right? Yeah. Is this stuff? Yeah. [Music] But first, That car right there right there real quick. [Music] 220. Oh my god. Before she's placed in the patrol car, officers conduct a thorough search to ensure she has no weapons or prohibited items. Okay. Do you have anything else on you at all? No, sir. Nothing at all? No, sir. Okay. I'm going to patch you down using the back of my hand to avoid any groping or anything of that nature. Okay. Yes, sir. Nothing in your shoes or nothing? So then I came up here and told these guys and then I went and I looked at the pictures over here and then I went down to leave and he's waiting down there and he ran over to me and said, "Hey, I look I didn't touch your car." Kind of not very bright and kind of weird. Do we know who he is? No, but my manager just called and she left and she saw him just sitting downstairs and she and the guy who he or the guy who she saw matches the description and she just told me where he is. So if you want to go look. Yeah. Where is he? He's downstairs. 44. Can you show me one more time? I'll meet you by your car. Okay. Um, this is if you want to just take a look at it. I worked out like I just everything I just told you. I worked out. I shot played basketball. When it was about time for me to leave, all the doors are open on the the third the third latch. I mean, the third side of the locker room, all the doors are open. My phone and my my wallet is gone with my key and some I don't even have a car. His car keys are in my locker. Literally, I go down there. I see my phone on that front seat before I I'm thinking it's a kid. So So his his keys are in your locker. Did you ever come down here to the car? Yeah. I came to the car. I seen my phone. I'm thinking it's a kid. I go back up and I see a a grown man. He asked for his keys and I hand it to him. He said, "What am I doing?" I I said, "Sir, I believe an item is in my in your car." And he ran and went to go get the cop. So, I went and sat right in front of his car for what he came cuz I knew. He insists it was all a mixup and says he was simply trying to retrieve what he thought was his own property. Watch. I wouldn't even run from you or nothing. I I seen my phone. So, why'd you pull away from me? What do you mean pull away? When I handcuffed your one arm, cuz No, I was explaining to you what happened. I didn't know why the cuffed, honestly. Because when he came down, I swear to God, when he came down, I I'm trying to I'm trying to tell tell him in the locker room. I I don't even know what the going on. You got eight You have eight 12-year-olds in the grown adult locker room running back and forth in the sauna. I go back to get my all the doors open. I check my my wallet and my phone's gone. I see a key that has says Mercedes-Benz. I walked around this and hit my bad. My bad, boss. My bad. I I walked around and hit until I seen a light come on and I I didn't even touch any. All right. So, just so I can ask you more specific questions, I'm going to read you something. Okay. You're not in any You're not in any trouble. I just need to figure out what's going on. Yes, sir. And someone else's keys were in your locker. All my I'm trying to explain this as best to you as possible. Please do. If you go in that locker room. Yes. My stuff was closest to the sauna. There's a sign in. When officers inquire further, the suspect continues to provide a convoluted timeline. I'm not going to tell you the exact age of the kids or I don't I'm not blaming anyone. Okay, so just numerous kids are just running around the locker room. They're not running around. They're in and out the sauna. They're in and out the sauna. When I go in, I just put I put my in there in the locker and I go out and and when I come back, there's like there's several doors open. So, I'm already like, "All right, I open my bag feel is heavy, but my wallet and my phone's gone. So, I you can't even not even going to know, bro. If I just picked my and left, I would have been. So your wallet and your phone are gone. Gone. Okay. I don't My phone's right there. Only I found my phone from the grave from If So what's the deal with his keys? I don't know. I I promise you I don't know. Okay. But you said you came down here looking for the car. Yeah. And then Yeah. I had So you So his keys were in your locker. In my locker. His keys were actually in my locker. I don't even own them yet. So you took the keys. You came down here. Yes, sir. You were looking for the car. Yes, sir. And I found it right there. And then then what happened after that? I check I seen my phone and I went upstairs. I'm thinking it's a kid. I don't know who the Did you go inside the car? Yes, I did. I went right inside the car. I seen my phone in there. Okay. So, where's your phone now? It's right there in the car. Yes. So, why would you why would you leave the phone in the car, though? Why would I Why would I take it? It's yours, right? But why would I take it? I got to figure out who put my there. So, when I go back in the locker, he comes and it's a I'm thinking it's a kid. Okay. So, so you bring the keys down, you you you're looking for the car. You find the car. You see your phone in the car. You go inside the car, then what? You leave the car. Leave your phone in there. I I was about to go back upstairs and let them know what happened, what the situation, whose vehicle this is, who's the owner of this vehicle. Did you take anything else out of the car? I didn't He can go check. He didn't even get boss. I knew a He told me he was calling the cops. I waited right at his car with How did you get here? I What you mean? I have a bicycle. Where's your bicycle at? It's over here. Despite his explanations, inconsistencies arise. Officers pieced together the event, including how the keys got into his possession and how he tried to access the vehicle running around. Uh there was probably 10 people in the locker room. Okay, so he's saying his story is the bunch of lockers are open to include his. He looked in. He looks at his bag. His phone and wallet are missing. Your keys are in his locker. So he takes the keys, comes down here looking for whose car it was. Um finds your car, goes into your car, sees his cell phone in your car. um leaves his phone in there and goes back up and I guess that's when that whole thing happened. Well, he had to go in here in the zipper to get my keys, right? But he's saying the keys were in his locker. So whether that's the case, I don't there's no obviously no cameras in the locker. I want to go to your car and see what's wrong. Is this all in order? This is normal. Just I have my computer. Yeah, that's cool. Okay. Can we take a look inside and see? Is that his phone? You know what? It's not my phone. Okay. So, let me hold on to that. So, how could that happen? What is that in the Is that not a credit card? Is it a name tag? Your My phone's still in there. That's good. So, all your stuff is still here. You don't have a gym membership here? Yeah, I I don't. So So, why are you here working out? Because I just work out. How you just walk in the front? No, I scan in. I just scan in. Like there's still a way you can scan in. You scan in what though? Like what do you use to scan in? A QR code. It's like a random Two burglary charges, one for resisting. That's what Mr. Maloney walks away with. Turns out crime doesn't pay, but it does get you a ride in the back of a squad car.
