Seriously, I [laughter] did nothing to you. >> Love you. You do this to me. This is what you're going to do to me. You're not even going to help me. I didn't do anything wrong. [screaming] Come on, man. >> What doing? >> What are you doing? Oh my >> you will never see him again. I promise you. >> Oh my god. >> Listen to me. Melanie, you got you got calm down. >> You're really okay with this. She earlier today she had an episode >> and she's got she's got two other kids and she's got like we got a one-year-old together. >> Apparently there was like something happened where her mother had to come get her other kids and she came right now. >> She's been drinking all >> and then I came here I picked up my son and my mother and she's like can I tell him goodbye? You know, I was like, "Yeah, I come by. You know, we'll tell you goodbye." And then all of a sudden, everything was good. And right when I say I'm leaving, she followed me outside. I want to fight. Try pushing me down the stairs while I'm holding my son. Then she starts to rip him out my hand. I'm like, >> "Is that y'all's kid?" >> Yes. Both. Yeah. Both of ours. And then neighbor the neighbor's holding right now. She doesn't like they were seeing like she pulling up >> like I don't want him to get hurt. She was like kneeling. >> Oh no, man. This is a lot right now. >> Which which neighbor you talking about? >> The one like to the left after you pass him up. That's what I told my son. >> Okay. >> You been drinking it, right? >> After briefly speaking with a mother, an officer walks across the hallway to check on the baby who's now being safely cared for by a neighboring couple. >> No, no, no. I'm sorry. >> I'm going just go check make sure they're okay. [snorts] I can walk in a straight line. I can answer anything. I'm [ __ ] up. I didn't do anything harmful. >> Hello. >> Hey. How you doing, sir? Can you talk outside? I got two sleeping kids. >> Oh, yeah. I just wanted to make sure that baby. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> I'm just one. >> Uh, that one. >> This one's mine. >> That one's ours. He woke up. >> Hi. Didn't y'all >> so I was y'all know them at all? >> No, we woke up. >> You want to step over? Yes, please. Here. >> Um, >> so I was still awake >> and about to go to sleep and I heard a commotion going on outside and her screaming. Mhm. >> So I opened the door >> outside of your room. >> Yeah. >> And when I opened the door, they were both right here in the hallway. >> The baby was in the car seat, guess, big boy. Oh, yes. Um they're in the room across the hall from you. >> Yeah. >> Yes. Ex uh exactly across the hall from us. and uh they were arguing and when he tried to pick up the car seat with the child in it and he had a backpack of I'm assuming of his stuff um the woman grabbed the car seat and basically kind of fell down like threw herself on it >> threw herself on it with the knee her knee hitting his head >> is what I observed. The woman then explains how she and her husband tried to keep the child out of the middle of the confrontation. >> And that's when I open the door. She was down on like basically on top and we were just trying to be like, "Hey, >> I was just trying to take care of make sure that this this kid wasn't getting going to get hurt." >> We pretty much were just like I don't even know what was said, but like basically he was like, "I'm just trying to leave. I'm allowed to." And she's like, "No, he's not allowed." >> Two bravo two >> bravo. >> Can we have EMS for a medical eval on an infant? >> And then the one who says he's that, he was like, cuz I was like, "Hey, can I just move the car seat and just sit here with him while y'all try and calm down and like can call the front desk and figure this out cuz she also locked herself out." >> And he was like, "Here, I'll show you. I'm not just going to take off. Like I'll unbuckle him and take him out." He's like, "You can hold him." I'm like, "Okay." So, he let me hold him and I was like, "I'm just going to hold him. Call the front desk so we can get the key and like figure something out." I told front desk, "I don't know what happened there." And then it like continued to escalate. >> And so, I ended up calling 911. >> As I was holding him, she came over and tried snatching him out of my hands, which she did get him. >> And then like like roughly snatched him out of my hands. And then my husband Mike and then the dad both like were not on her but like the dad was trying to grab him from her and then so Mike stepped in to try and separate them two and I grabbed the baby again. We don't need that right now. Um, I can I can take we can take our time babies with these people with these people. >> As officers begin taking control of the scene, the mother insists she hasn't done anything illegal and [music] questions why the police were called in the first place. >> I'm I was just going to leave it like that till EMS gets here. >> Nothing illegal has happened. So, I'm so confused why there's cops. Like, they all have to make me understand. >> What do you think is happening right now? But at the same time, I'm trying to take that I'm trying I'm trying to ma'am, don't interrupt me. I'm trying to take that in consideration, but I need you to cooperate with me. >> What's Tell me your first name again. >> Can you stand up for me if I help you out? >> Yeah, I can stand up. >> Can you walk? Yes, walk. >> Did you do anything wrong? >> We're going to go downstairs. >> There's anything My baby is in that room. Mikey, >> I got >> Mikey. just he's in that room with someone we don't even know. >> I'm watching. We're just going to the elevator. >> He's even know. >> So, their kid is right there by 216. Make sure that they kind of stay together. >> What am I arresting? >> We're getting out of the hallway cuz you won't shut up. >> That's the easiest way for me to say. >> Really? >> Stop. Don't touch me. [screaming] What is that? [screaming] I didn't do anything. >> What are you doing? >> We're just >> I didn't do anything wrong. I didn't do anything illegal. How is this happening? I didn't do anything. >> You're causing a disturbance. >> I didn't do anything. >> We're going to wait for the ambulance outside so we can maybe calm down a little bit. Okay. >> Ambulance for what? going to come talk to you and check out the baby and make sure everybody's okay. >> Yep. >> They're on there kind of uncomfortably, so we're going to fix it. >> Once outside, she continues denying she's intoxicated, [music] insists she's the child's primary caregiver and claims the father was trying to take the baby without her permission. >> Thanks so much. >> No problem. I >> feel really loved. >> Great. >> Feel like a human right now. yours. >> I feel like a human mom. Someone else was holding my child because his dad was upset with me. >> You mad at me? >> I didn't do anything illegal, sir. I promise you I did not do anything illegal. >> You want to talk to me about what's going on? >> I was no joke. I had to have a break for my health. >> His dad came over. It got out of control cuz he tried to take him. And I said, "You're not being >> He does not have custody of him. He's never lived with him for a day in his life. He has Down syndrome, sir. >> Who has custody of the baby?" >> I do. I don't have a whole lot of questions because what you're being charged with is something that you did to us. >> Did I hurt you in any way? I was terrified. >> He doesn't have to answer your questions. Excuse me. >> When when a law enforcement officer >> gives you you weren't concerned about that when you got wasted. >> What are you talking about got wasted? >> The reason why EMS is here is to check on that baby because you were too drunk to stand up and hold him. >> She also denies that alcohol had anything to do with the incident and challenges officers to [music] prove she's intoxicated. >> Trust me, please. I would love to be arrested. >> I can smell you. me. >> Get back in the car before I charge you with another charge. Turn back. >> Breathize me. I want to know. >> No one's going to do that. >> No, I'd love to know. You're saying I'm too wasted to hold my >> smell you. >> Great. So, I had a beer. >> Did you urinate on yourself now? >> Yes, because you scared the out of me. >> That would be a symptom. Listen, >> you scared the out of me. You were holding me in the elevator. And then she went and as she went, she hit the sign, came into our lanes, and coming down by McDonald's, she was fine and started swerving again.
