It's all fun and I know my rights until the handcuffs come out. Here are five cases when cops give sovereign citizens a much needed dose of reality. Number five, a traffic stop turns into a showdown over sovereign rights. A routine traffic stop turns into a confrontation when a driver refuses to comply with police instructions. Officers pull the man over for a traffic violation, but from the start, it's clear he has no intention of cooperating. Let me stop here. You could just send me another non-emergency. How you doing, sir? My name is also stop at the city of St. Pete. Reason I'm stopped is because you don't appear to have a valid registration on your vehicle. Ah, this vehicle is registered. Actually, excuse me. First of all, excuse me. I'm a foreign national. Mhm. Um, this vehicle is registered under the Morris American National Counseling. Council. Okay. And under the treaty of secret and friendship and the CNA, the counselor notification. So basically what I'm asking is um are you familiar with um council notification access menu? I'm familiar with your uh train of thought. Do you have your ID on you sir? I'm asking are you with um are you familiar with the CNA the counseling notification my front seat? Now, at this point, I am giving you a lawful order to identify yourself cuz you're being stopped for a traffic violation. Excuse me. Spike strips. What? Uh, we'll speak to your um lieutenant. Yeah, bring your lieutenant, please. My sergeant is Well, a sergeant's on the way, not my sergeant. Bring someone notification and um notification access manual. You're not 16. They're being cooperative. They're requesting a supervisor. The officers stay calm, explaining why he was stopped and what they need from him. To ensure that he won't drive away, the officer secure the scene and do this. Get them under the tires. They're going to flee. Oh, that's a Yep. registration proof insurance on you, police officer. I don't need those things. I'm asking you if you're confident in Sir, you're traveling on the roads in the city of St. Do you have your driver's license registration proof insurance on you? Make sure you give it back. Can you put the car in park and turn the turn the car off for me? Put the car in park and turn it off for me, please. Very violent. Listen, obviously being very violent. What do you And do you have the CNA? because uh I can't. So you guys are from you were born in Morocco. You see that there? My ma'am, you see that there flag? That's the signal that we're supposed to have on our convenience. The article 4 of the treaty piece of friendship between the United States, the rockan empire. You guys know this. This is a commercial stop and the treaty is to protect us at this point. Yeah. Yeah. Go ahead. Thank you. At this point, you are under arrest. You need to step out of the vehicle for what? Obstruction. Obstruction of what? Obstruction of this traffic stop. We're not going to debate it. You'll have your day in court. You need to step out of the vehicle for me, please. It's not obstruction. Excuse me. There's no right. You're not You're going against the article six. And like I said, you'll have your day in court. No, you're under arrest. We're beyond detainment. What am I under arrest for? I already advise you. Obstruction. Please step out of the vehicle. What am I instructing? The traffic stop. Sir, I'm not instructing. She's already ordered me to take him into custody. She needs You need to step out of the vehicle. You can speak. She's on the outside. Okay, hold on. Let me get my book real quick. Sir, I need you to not reach for anything else. I need you to step out. After several warnings, the officers are left with no choice but to take action. Where are you going with my Step out of the vehicle. Let's go. Let's go. Step out of the vehicle. Get on the ground. Get on the ground. You're not supposed to be doing this. Get off of me. Get off of me right now. Get on your stomach. Just cooperate. How worth it. Relax and cooperate. Y'all breaking the treaty. Article 64. Ying all the treaty laws right now. I'm not supposed to be doing this. Roll your side, boss. You have anything else sharp that's going to poke, sick, stab, or cut me? What? I'm asking, do you have any other weapons? Utility blade. That's not a weapon. That's a tool for drywall. I'm a drywall finisher. I do drywall work. Y'all know well that this is against the law. We allowed to travel. Treaty of Peace and Friendship is our protection and commerce. That flag is our signal that y'all know that article four. The band that y'all wear at the start. That's your signal that y'all supposed to go by. Give my phone to my mother. Perfect. Sit up. If I have anything on me, give it all to my mother. Absolutely. We'll be able to come back. Go ahead and sit up and stand up. Put your foot on the ground. Both feet. Just bring your leg in. Hook your knees up to your chest. Yes. Come on. All right. One, two, three. So, I have to go through this mat. Why? Cuz you didn't want to comply. Comply with what? The traffic stop. This a commercial st. Traffic means traffic is commercial. I'm very aware traffic is. I'm a traffic officer. Go ahead and have a seat. What follows is a calculated controlled takedown deliberate without excessive force as they ensure both individuals are safely restrained. I am not consenting to this. You don't have to. All right. Step it out for me. Uh do you want to talk to the supervisor again? I'm going to take this off you. Okay. Do not grab that. That's a big mistake. Ma'am, understand that, but don't grab at the weapon. Ma'am, why are you why are you bothering me? What did I do? Can you step out of the car so we can talk to the supervisor like you asked? Ma'am, are you going to Are you detaining me for any reason at all? For what? Because I heard you speaking over there. I touched his hand. Yep. He grabbed me twice. I didn't mean to. Well, you know what? Ma'am, please step out of the car. Okay. Can I call on my mom? Nope. You need to step out of the car. Please step out of the car. Are you detaining me? You're under arrest. Yes, I know. Ma'am, we can do this one of two ways. Step out of the car. I don't I don't want to get out. I know. Thank you. Get out. Get off my wrist, please. Step out. Put your hand behind your back. Thank you. Yes, ma'am. I need my phone because I need to be able to contact my mother and the number and I don't know it by heart. That's fine. Cruiser. Absolutely. I'm parked behind that cruiser. Let's go walk to that white line 165. A second time registered to orbit leasing, but the last tag of 2020 was registered some lady with a different date of birth. That's what he is. and I this is his name and I leads and it says this is he was ultimately charged with operating a vehicle without insurance, no valid driver's license, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, resisting an officer, and providing a false identity. Number four, the moment sovereign citizen logic falls apart. A routine traffic stop quickly spirals out of control when a driver refuses to identify himself. Here's what happens next. Hello cars. Can I see your license, please? Can I see your license, please? What's up, officer? Can I see your license, please? What's going on? I need to see your license. Do you have a license? I need to see your license. What's going on? What? I need to see your license. Sir, I'm asking you what's your reasonable license. And I want to see your license and I'll tell you why. But until I see your license, I'm not talking to you cuz I need to see your license. Do you have a license or you don't have a license? I don't need to see your license. I need to see his license. He's driving. Do you have a license, sir? I'm traveling. I'm traveling off. Okay. You have a license? I'm asking you what's the purpose of you asking me to identify myself? Because I pulled you over for speeding. Okay. Now speeding. Yes, sir. What was I speeding back there? I'm not going to argue with you, sir. I was not speeding. Is the camera on? Yes, the camera's on. I was not speeding, sir. I got you on the rad 55 and a 40. So, yes, you were speeding. Can you show me that on? No, I don't have to show you that on the radar. I can say you was You wasn't speeding. Yes, I was. I'm not going to argue. Can I have your license, please? I do have a license. I wasn't speeding. Betty, send me back up here. I wasn't speeding up. Yes, sir. You were not. I'm not going to argue, sir. Can I get the supervisor, please? I'm I'm calling a backup right now. You have a license, sir? Can I get the super Can I see your license, please, sir? I don't have a license. Can you Can Do you have any ID on you at all, sir? I don't I don't have the ID myself, sir. Yes, sir. You do? No, I do not. Yes, sir, you do. I did not commit a crime. I'm sorry. What? I did not commit a crime. I didn't say you committed a crime. I said you committed an infraction, a civil infraction. So, don't make it worse than what it is. That's all I'm saying. I didn't commit a civil infraction. Yes, sir. I got you on the radar. 55 and a 40. Can I see the radar? No, sir. You cannot. Then how can you prove that I was speeded? We go to court and the judge here's my side. Here's your side. The officer remains calm, explaining the violation and asking repeatedly for identification. The man refuses, questioning legal authority and asking for proof of speeding in the state of Florida. In the state of Florida, I'm allowed to allow the speeds in. There's nothing that shows on my radar right now. State of Florida right now. So roll back up. Give me a supervisor. Jesus Christ. You're talking to me. Yeah. Sorry. Go ahead, sir. You were saying I didn't hear what you saying cuz you're talking to me. I was not. Yes, sir. I have you on the radar. I didn't. That's my I'm saying you were you saying you weren't. So, what we do is I give you a ticket and we go to court. That's what we do. That's the way it works. That's what's going to happen. Give me one pretty quick here. Supervisor, please. Sir, do you have an ID? I need to see your ID. I'm not going to identify myself. I did not commit, sir. I didn't say you committed a crime. I said you committed a similar crime. Yes, sir. Okay. That's my side. And I legally pulled you over. So, that's what I'm allowed to do. You're required by law to show me your license. You have a license. I'm sorry, sir. Am I being detained? Yes, sir. You are. Why am I being detained? Cuz you you're speeding. That's not a crime. I didn't say it was a crime. You were being detained, sir. Don't try and leave that. You'll then commit a crime then. Actually, not not identifying yourself after I asked for it legally is actually a crime. So, yeah. So, you want to identify yourself or not? You're saying that I I failed to identify myself as a crime because I legally stopped you. Now, you're interfering with my investigation. See, so who are you investigating? You then how do you know? Then who am I? You won't identify, baby. Are you I'm just asking for an ID. That's all I'm asking for. You want to give me an ID? I mean, really, you want to go this route? What route? All I'm asking for is an ID. committed a crime. I didn't say you committed a crime, sir. I didn't didn't say you committed a crime. I said you committed a civil infraction. And now you're refusing to identify yourself. So now what am I supposed to do? I'm I'm I'm being open and honest with you, sir. I'm going to give you a citation. You can take it to court. No problem at all. That's what we're going to do. The officer makes it clear. Refusing to identify during a lawful stop turns a civil infraction into a criminal matter. Still, the driver holds his ground, claiming no crime has been committed. The next step is up to you. That's what I'm going to do. What's the next step? So, what do you want to do, sir? Show me some ID, please. I don't have no ID, partner. I'm sorry. I don't have no ID. You don't have an ID. And you're driving the vehicle. I'm traveling. No, sir. You're driving the vehicle? I'm traveling. Okay. He's saying he's traveling. So you have no ID. What's your name, sir? I didn't commit a crime. What? What did I do? What? What? What's your reason suspicion? He's refused to identify himself. It says he's traveling. on the way. So you don't want give me ID and you don't want to identify yourself. Right. You don't want to identify yourself. I'm asking you if you want to identify yourself. You refusing. I'm just asking. It's on camera. So you want to identify yourself, sir. Unless you suspect me of committing a crime, officer. I do not have to identify myself. Yes, sir. You do. You're required to in the state of Florida provide me ID when I pull you over illegally. You've been stopped for speeding. I've explained it to you here. I have a witness here that says that I was not and I've got a radar that says you were in my car though. You're not going to see my car. Okay. I'm not required by law to show you my vehicle. Okay. So now we've got five cops here. The road all blocked cuz you want to identify yourself. That's all simple. All you got to do is identify yourself. I told you what I would do. I give you a ticket when you go to court. That's that's real simple. Write your ticket. I can't write a ticket. Let you identify yourself, sir. You're thinking, right? Go ahead. Right. You're thinking stopping you from Right. And I want to see your ID, sir. You have an ID. You really want to escalate this. That's It's a simple thing. That's all it is. A simple thing. Simple thing. All you need is identify yourself. I can just take care of you. Be on the road. Boom. No problem at all. Instead of simply cooperating, the driver escalates a routine stop into a drawn out standoff. Are you refusing to identify yourself? I'm sorry, ma'am. I I'm sorry. I can't hear you. It's pretty loud right out here. Yes, ma'am. He was not speeding. Yes, ma'am. He was I was not speeding. I was not speeding. You pull up behind me. I pull out. Pull out in front of a car. I pull out. I turned my indicator on. I moved in front of the car and I went back on the in the same lane and then you pull up behind me. I was not speeding. I have you on the radar at 55 mph, sir. Don't have me on the radar at 55 because I was not going 55. I was going That's That's your That's your side, not my side. Okay. My side is You were speeding. So that's my side. I was not speeding. I was not speeding. I was not speeding. I was not speeding. Okay. I was not. Then we can go to court on that, sir. I was not speeding. I didn't write your ticket. You go to court. I was not speeding. And I need your ID to be able to write ticket. That's what I'm saying. Yes, sir. I do. You said you're conducting an investigation. You must know who you're investigating. You must know who you're investigating. If you don't know who you're investigating, what's that? With tensions rising, backup arrives and one final warning is issued. But the situation quickly unravels. Get out of the car, sir. Hello. Get out of the car. Out of the car. Get out of the car. Out of the car. Get out of the car. Get out of the car. Why you arrest? Why are you arresting me? I'm not even resisting. I'm not even resisting. I'm not even resisting. What the hell? Watch out. It's on his He can't cut the seat belt. I'll press the seat belt. I'm not even resisting. Stop. I'm not resisting. I'm not doing nothing. Watch out. Watch out. I'm not resisting. I'm not doing nothing. What? Grab this hand. I have. Yo, I'm not resisting. I'm not resisting. I'm not resisting. I'm not resisting. [Music] Just get a good search on the one crawling. Yep. Are you kidding me? You going You going You going to sexually assault me like that? You going to sexually assault me like that? Yeah. Yep. Stand up. Oh, look. Look at me. Look at me. Look at me. I'm here. Within minutes, the man is in handcuffs and placed in the back of a patrol car. All of this. You drove it, sir. All you do is identify yourself. Let me get my Hey. Walk with them. We'll get your shoe when you get in the car. Go. [Music] Get in the car. What am I put in the car? What am I being arrested for? Put your obstruction. Obstruction of what? The windows are wind up in the car. I'll be suffocated in this car. I be suff I'm suffocating. Put your foot in. I'm going suffocate in this car. Put your foot in. I'm suffocating in the car, bro. Well, we got your ID now. So if you would have just given the ID, we that that would have been an issue. But I wasn't speeding. I was not speeding. The officer is lying. He can't prove that I was speeding. He he can prove that you were speeding. He has radar in his car. And I was not speeding. I have a witness who was right there beside me. I was not speeding. That's that's something that you had to fight in court. You can't fight on the side of the street. I wasn't fighting it on the side of the street. I was asking to articulate what the suspicion was. But you failing to identify yourself. Okay. That is a crime. How did I fail to identify myself? Am I Am I accused of being committing a crime? You were speeding. It was a civil infraction. A crime. It's a crime not to identify yourself. Yes. It's speeding a crime. I don't think you you're not following along what I said. It's an infraction where you would that he was going to write you a citation. Okay. But you then failing to identify yourself, that is the crime. That is what created this whole mess. If you would have just given your ID, you would have been on your way right now. But now you're going to go to jail. Okay. And you actually got a felony as well. Okay. So, I'm trying to explain to you what's going on. And that's that's what's going on. Okay. We have now we have your ID. Okay. So, now you're going to get booked into jail along with your same the same citation that you were initially going to get. What began as a basic speeding violation has now turned into a full arrest with serious charges. Where do you where do you live at? Sir, are you done talking? Okay. Oh, good luck to you, sir. You just roll out and do it. Who's this guy? Who is this guy? Do you That's my boyfriend. It's your boyfriend. Okay, hold. So, he's going to be going to jail. Okay. So, Well, first off, he has no valid driver's license. Okay, he failed to identify himself. So, that's obstruction and also resisting with violence. Okay, so he's going to go to jail for a felony and a couple misdemeanor. For a felony and a couple misdemeanor. Okay. So, all he had to do was identify himself and he would have got a ticket and been on his way. You both would have been on your way. All right. Is this your vehicle? Yes. Okay. So, we're going to be impounding your vehicle as well. Okay. Why? Because it was used in the commission of a crime. What crime? It's the resisting with violence, the driving with no license, the obstruction. All right. Where do you guys live at? I live I live down the street. Where's down the street? Um, Drew Street. Drew Street is a street. His passenger, the vehicle owner, identifies the man as her boyfriend. However, she can't provide his address and claims not to know if he's married despite dating for over a year. His address different from mine. What's his address? I don't know. How long have you been dating? Over a year. Over a year. And you have no idea what his address was? He lives in or something? I don't know the exact address. Is he married or something? I don't think so. You've been dating for a year and you don't know if he's married and you don't know his address. I understand how that makes absolutely no sense. I don't know his address. Okay. All right. So, here's the deal. We're going to be taking your car. Okay. We're going to be impounding it. Um, and has this ever been impounded? Has it ever been a felonious impound before? No. Okay. So, what we're going to do is we're going to do a felonious impound on it. Okay. So, if this is ever used in the commission of a felony again, we're going to seize it. Okay. which means it then belongs to the city of Clearwater. Okay. So, uh did you just get off of work? All right. Do you have any friends or family in the area that can come pick you up? No. No. Okay. Well, there's Uber or taxi, something like that. Okay. So, do you have anything in the car that you need? Ma'am, you're not going in the car. I asked you, is there anything in the car that you need? Yeah. I got to get my keys and my purse. Okay. Well, then you're going to stand there and we're going to grab them for you. I'm sorry. phones with a car. The man is officially charged with obstruction, resisting with violence, and operating a vehicle without a license. Number three, how a simple traffic violation led to a lifealtering moment. A deputy pulls over a man named David for running a red light. The officer calmly explains the reason for the stop, but things go south fast. Hello. How are you? Good. How are you doing? I'm good, thank What is the purpose for you pulling you over? The purpose for me pulling you over is because you ran through that red light. Oh, I did. You did? Yes, sir. It wasn't yellow. No, sir. It was solid red. No, it was. Yes. Do you have your license? No, actually, uh, we're not going to do that. So, um, I'm sorry. I don't know how to explain this to you, but I don't need to give you any identification. Okay. Yes, you do. I'm requesting for your driver's license. Okay. So, we're not doing this. Okay. I'm requesting for your driver's license for what? What crime is committed? because I'm conducting a traffic enforcement. What crime was committed, though? You broke a traffic enforcement. You ran through a red light. That's for uh CDL, I don't think. I don't know. I'm sorry. Okay. Step out for me. I'm not stepping out of step. That's not happening. That's not happening. All right, sir. That's not happening. Get your hands off of me. Step out for me. I'm not stepping out. I got a dog here, too. Call for backup, bro. Take my back up. All right. Step out. I'm not getting out. You're not telling me what I'm doing, sir. We're not doing this. No, we you straight. We're not. We're not doing this. Get your hands off of me. Step out. Get your hands off of me. I'm telling you one more time. Step. Who do you think you are? Step out. The officer attempts to keep the exchange respectful, but David keeps pushing back. Don't do that with the dog here. Okay, then don't do this. Don't do it. Don't do this. Don't do it with the dog. Don't do it with the donkey. Step out. What are you doing? Get out of the car. Get out of the car. Get out of the car. What are you doing out of the car? Get your hands up on the ground. [Music] That's my dog. Yeah, I can tell that adult roll over here. And just like that, he's on the ground in cups while his poor dog watches the whole thing. Clearly stressed out from the other side. You made a big mistake. Yeah, that's fine. I can't believe that. I can't believe you just punched me in the face. You're 100% right. I did. You pushed my hand off. Hold up. You want to try and get the dog back in the car? Come on. Hey. Hey. Hold up. Hey. Hey. Come here. Come on. Come on. Come here. Come on. Load up. Load up. Come on. Come on. Come on. Load up. Load up. Have a seat. Let me see about this one. We're good. Good. Done now. Went through a solid red light. He's like, "I don't know why you stopped me." Explain to him why I stopped him. Asked him for his driver's license. He's like, "I don't have to give you my driver's license. That's only for CDL." And then I told him to step out. He's not stepping out. Told him several times he's still not stepping out. Went to lock his door. until I get and that's when I grab his hands. Yeah. So I And then I reach in. I got to try and open the door from the inside. He pushes my hands off. So David. Yeah. Listen to me. I am giving you one opportunity to take care of your dog. Who can we call to get that dog? All right. Let me let me let me tell you something. Okay. I come from Massachusetts. That's fine. I've been down here for 2 years. Okay. I'm living inside my car. Okay. Okay. My girl and my baby live in another state and I'm paying for their rent and all their other. Okay. Okay. So, I do not have anyone that I can call right now off hand. We can come get the dog. Actually, maybe I can call someone from work. I work at ABC over there. Well, we're going to call animal control. Okay. Let me call Let Can I call someone from work, though? Once everything settles down, the officers get to work processing the scene and sorting through the details. Ask can they get here?
