On January 22nd, 2026, officers at the Nashville International Airport were dispatched to intercept a passenger arriving on an international flight who had an active felony warrant out of Rutherford County, Tennessee. That passenger was 27-year-old Cody Deweiler, better known online as the automotive YouTuber Whistland Diesel. Deweiler's warrant stemmed from an ongoing investigation by the Tennessee Department of Revenue. In November 2025, Dewweller was initially indicted in Williamson County on two felony counts of tax evasion. Investigators alleged that Deweiler unlawfully bypassed state sales taxes by registering high-end vehicles, including a $400,000 Ferrari F8 Tributo under a Montana LLC, a practice commonly referred to as the Montana loophole. While Deweiler bonded out following his first arrest at his home, the second encounter at the airport was triggered by a separate warrant. Because a second vehicle listed in the tax evasion indictment was purchased in a different jurisdiction, Rutherford County, authorities issued a new warrant for his arrest. Upon his arrival back in the United States, officers were waiting. The following footage captures the moment authorities approached Deweiler inside the airport. >> Maybe this >> I don't think the Metro number for in the agency is doing it because I'm not taking out charges. >> You don't need what Metro number? >> No. >> Cuz there's no charges or anything. >> You don't have to fill out the arrest report or anything? Um I've got them in zip cuffs cuz I thought we were going to be taking them to Metro and they just take way too long. So we usually just throw them in zip cuffs. Uh I got shears to cut them whenever y'all throw y'alls on. What's going on, man? >> How's it going? Two pairs. Your the plastic ones will come off in just a sec. And I've got his phone and wallet in the front seat as well. That's all he's got with him. >> As seen in the footage, Deweiler was handed over to a Rutherford County officer to be transported and processed on the outstanding warrant. He was subsequently released less than an hour later after posting a $25,000 bond. Following his release, Deweiler took to social media to voice his frustration, claiming that authorities never sent him a tax bill or gave him the opportunity to pay the taxes owed prior to building a criminal case against him. He also stated that the legal situation is about to escalate a whole lot more. Currently, Deweiler is subject to a limited gag order regarding the ongoing criminal case, though he remains permitted to discuss public information. We will continue to monitor the case as it moves through the Tennessee court system.
