On December 26th, 2023, an officer patrolling the area noticed a car parked in a handicap spot without the required placard. The situation initially looked like a simple violation until he approached the driver and realized something else was off. Watch how the stop unfolds. >> Can I get your license, registration, proof insurance? >> Yeah. Um, may I ask why? >> Why? Cuz you're parked in a handicap spot. And I don't see a placard. >> Oh, but I just moved in here quickly. >> No time frame on the placard. Can I see your license, registration, proof, insurance? >> Sure. Um 21 98 final 20 1201 44th Street. All right. Cuz your license. >> I don't understand why. >> I told you why, ma'am. So, I'm going to need you to see your license. >> Now, please. >> The officer barely has to ask a question before the signs give her away. She's heavily intoxicated and her explanation for being behind the wheel doesn't do her any favors. Are you >> serious? >> So, what are you stopping at the store for? >> Um, I just came in to get a pack of cigarettes. >> Just a pack of cigarettes? All right. Who you calling? >> You need your license for? >> My attorney. >> Your attorney? Okay. Well, this is just a simple traffic stop. >> Yeah. Well, he's also my boyfriend. >> Gotcha. Ma'am, I'm going to need your license. >> Mhm. >> Okay. >> I have all of the above. >> Perfect. Then why don't you provide for me? >> She's stalling, weighing her options, and the officers give her a moment to come around. But if she just provides her license, this can stay simple. Are you operating? >> Are you operating? >> Oh, >> what am I operating? >> Hey, >> what were you doing at your house before you came here? >> I left this one. I did that the other day. >> I was talking to my clients. >> Your clients? What do you do for work? >> I'm a hair stylist, makeup artist. Oh, >> okay. Cool. Nice. >> Yeah. Pretty artist. >> What? Uh, can you do me a favor? Step out of the car. >> She doesn't have a license, and now she's ignoring every order that comes her way. The officers try one more time to reason with her, but it's like talking to someone who's already made up their mind. >> Ma'am, hold a minute. Now, be reasonable. >> You are licensed Florida. You have a licensed Florida driver's license. >> Okay. You need to cooperate with the police right now. Mhm. >> Could you could you hand over your license to him, please? >> I'm going to call my friend. >> Ma'am, I need your license. I need your license. >> Yeah. Okay. >> We've already done that. And so >> So, can you >> What is What? What is >> I need your license before I can tell you what's going to go on from here? I I need your license. >> Oh my gosh. >> Okay. And I know they explain this to her. Just reexplain to her where she's parked in a handicap park. >> Yeah. You don't have >> So this is like how this >> Yeah. Ma'am, >> thank you for that information, but I'm going to hold on for one second that can come in for a pat. >> She seems convinced that her supposed connections will carry weight here, but intimidation won't get her anywhere, and the officers are already prepared to act if she doesn't comply. >> We're going to show you something, ma'am. Uh, >> okay. So, I'm going to call my friend who's the supervisor of the FBI. That's fine. I can call my phone. >> You can call who you want to call. But right now, listen to me. Give me this. Give me this. >> Give it to Give it to me. >> I can. Yes, I I can. I can, ma'am. Because you Yes, I can. Cuz you got to pay attention to what they're doing. You don't get to call your FBI friend. You get to listen to us. >> Oh my god. >> Do you have your license, registration, and insurance? I need it right now. >> Yeah. >> Hand it over, please. Please, ma'am. This is a traffic stop. >> Take my phone back. >> Okay. >> Again. >> Are you If you don't give me your license, >> what did I do? >> You You're parked in handicap. I thought I already gave it to you. >> No, you didn't give us anything you've been arguing with. At last, she hands it over. It took far too long, but the officers finally got what they asked for from the start. >> Now, I do appreciate the cooperation. We didn't have to get off on this rocky start. We we addressed something. >> Why is this really This is the most appropriate thing. >> Thank you so much. Now, >> why is why why is this happening? >> Okay, you can start talking with it again. >> Where are you coming from, ma'am? >> My house right on Where are you going? >> Right back home. >> So why is this happening? Let your suspicions go. >> Okay. Ma'am. Ma'am, can you listen to me? Can you listen to me for a second? Okay. Right now, I'm suspecting you that I suspect that you have been drinking tonight. >> I have not. >> I can smell a strong odor coming from your person. >> Well, I have not. >> And I need you to step out of the vehicle so we can so we can do some tasks. You don't want to step out? >> No, I have not. I have not. >> Okay. Well, I smell a strong odor, so I'm going need you to step out of the vehicle. >> I don't know why. But no, >> ma'am. >> No. Here's what's going on. >> No. >> You know what? as my father is like the president. My father is under arrest for obstruction. >> My father is the president of >> Look, at this point, at this point, you're about you're under arrest for obstruction, so you need to step out of the car. >> And that's it. The officers have heard enough. They've been patient, but at this point, she's left them no choice. >> Come on, miss. Come on now. >> Just come on out. Come on, relax. Step on. Wait a minute. >> Come on. There you go. Thank you. >> No, >> no need for all that, Miss DUI and obstruction. >> There you go. Miss, come on now. >> That's all. >> That's all. I feel like that's all. I noticed like what's going on in my car? >> What did I do that was so wrong? >> The deputies asked you several times. >> No, no, no. Before all that, >> they stop. >> You see, you see where your car is? >> That's a handicap sign. That's a handicap spot. You don't have a handicap sticker. >> Okay. Let me just leave you. All right. >> A female officer soon arrives to handle the pat down, then takes the lead and escorting her to the station without further delay. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Any uh body? >> Oh, no. No, no. Can I wait, please? >> Body pants. >> Um, >> any bobby pins in here? >> Maybe two. >> Two body pans. >> Maybe two. no more than um TSA would agree to. I can't say I don't see any in there. Number three. man thought playing innocent would work. It didn't. On February 3rd, 2025, officers responded to a warrant tied to a hit and run suspect who failed to show up in court. When they arrived at his home, he wasn't exactly ready for the knock on the door. >> Are you Darren, Michael? Could you stop out here for me? >> Sure. >> Is he okay? >> Yeah. Yeah, he's okay. >> They were fighting and everything over there a couple words. >> Oh, it was just them. Whatever. We went in there before you got here. >> Okay. But you're Darren Michael, correct? Okay. You are under arrest for a failure to appear. You have a warrant out. >> Me? >> Yeah. >> Yes, sir. >> For what? >> Uh, failure to appear. >> What's the crime? >> You missed a court date. >> I'm have no record of anything. >> You didn't report a You didn't report the accident when you hit Shell. Remember that you drove? >> I don't even have a car. >> Well, this happened a while ago. You're on video doing it. That's unfortunate. >> But yeah, you you missed your court today. So, if you could turn around, put your hands behind your back. >> Hold on a sec. Can I tell? >> No. No. >> Who's in there? >> Who's in there? >> My roommate. >> Your roommate. >> Turn your hand up. These too tight for you? These feel comfortable. Well, about as comfortable as they can be. >> Mine is not that bad. >> Gotcha. >> Thank you. >> Thank you for your Thank you for your mercy. >> No problem, man. >> All right. >> Trying to play innocent gets him nowhere. And once the truth's on the table, the officers give him a moment to speak with his friend before escorting him to the cruiser. >> I I'll let I'll let you holler in there. I'll crack the door and you can just holler in there to your your roommate. >> Hey, Jason. Yeah, >> I got to go clear something up. Okay. If I'm not back later, let Julie know. I'll get with her as soon as I clear this up. >> What does that mean? >> I'm um I got to go with these people for a little bit. >> Well, it helped me explain, right? >> Um I'm not sure. So, >> what does that mean? Hold on. >> All right. You can step over here. >> Okay. >> Hold on. I'm done. >> He uh we're picking him up for a warrant for failure to appear. So, we're going to bring him to the courthouse in Ottawa. He's going to get a new court date and everything and he'll be sent on his way probably probably tomorrow. >> Tomorrow. >> It's probably going to be tomorrow. I can't say certain, but you'll see the judge court thing. >> So, he's being taken overnight. >> Yeah, he he missed a court date. So, we got to take him in so he can get another court date. >> I never got a summon. >> I I don't know anything about that, but thank you. I have no idea about this. >> Yeah, >> I don't know nothing about this. I never had a summon about anything. >> To be honest, I don't know either, but you got a warrant. I'm just here to pick you up. >> Okay. Right now. >> Go ahead and do me a favor. Or no, we'll wait till we get outside. I just want to pat you down. Make sure you don't have anything on you. Any knives or anything? >> My wallet. >> Just your wallet. Okay, you're okay. I just want to make sure you didn't have any knives or anything. It's probably a weird thing to be sitting around your house with a pocketk knife. I guess some people do it. No, I was just saying weapons. I hate weapons. >> I just wanted to double check. >> I hate weapons. I'm a peaceful man. >> I never got the pier. I would have worked this out. >> Yeah. I I don't know, man. >> So, it was back in August when you backed into the >> shelf like it looked like you were trying to get gas or >> get air. get air and then and I backed up and I panicked and I left. >> Eventually, the truth comes out. The suspect admits that they struck a building, left the damage behind, and never reported it. What he didn't count on was the surveillance camera that saw everything. >> Well, that's the whole thing. >> That's it. It's failure to provide report to the police agency, you know, after the accident. >> Okay. >> You did some damage to the building. I'm sorry, but um I never got a summon to appear. >> I got you. I'm not sure if they sent it to you or what, but >> No, I never >> Did you move recently or anything? >> Yeah. >> Yeah, they might have went to your old address. Not 100% about that. >> Just probably >> more more than likely. I can't tell you for sure, but more likely you're going to probably see a judge tomorrow in the morning. They'll give you a new court date and then you just show up. You just show up to the next one. Otherwise, we're just on the weekend. So, I thought >> Oh, you're good. Just stand in front of my car for a minute. >> Okay, sounds good. >> All right. Um, check on my box cuz I think I only Okay, just your wallet. >> My wallet and there's really nothing here. >> Okay, you're good. Go ahead and step over here. I think I might have to lift something up. I think there was a bend down here. Okay, just let me get this out of here. Should I put this on the other side or >> Okay, I have my duty bag in there. I got to get to >> go ahead and hop in. >> Uh, if you can, I would suggest maybe stop with your right foot. Yeah. And I got your back. >> Yep. >> I got your back. I'm not I'm not going to let you fall, man. >> Thank you, boss. >> Thank you. >> We got to wait for confirmation, right? >> Yeah. >> Yep. Do you need my um confirm? >> With a man being cooperative, the officer allows a few questions during the ride, walking him through the process and what will come next. >> And I got it in my pocket. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> I'll go with him. >> Uh we're going to take you down to the department real quick and then uh we'll we'll get you on your way shortly after. And I probably get out in the morning sometime. >> More likely than not. Yeah. >> Can somebody get me home? >> Um, that I'm not certain about. >> Do you have anyone who could pick you up over there? >> I have no phone or something, so that's a problem. >> Do you know your roommate's number? I have my Oh, who knows? You could keep scrolling through it. >> No, I agree with you. >> I could get a ride. >> What's your roommate's name? >> What's your roommate's name? >> Jason. >> Jason Osborne. I'm not on um I need to get be able to get a hold of him tomorrow when I get out and get a hold of and see if she can get me. >> What's Gail's name? >> Uh Jordan. >> I'll see if we have a number for them. >> Okay. >> And we'll try to set you over with that. All right, go ahead and step out, my man. >> Big drop for you. >> There we go. >> The man was charged with failure to appear. Number two, suspect thought she could fool the cop. didn't even last a minute. On August 28th, 2024, officers responded to a call about a loud, possibly violent argument coming from a nearby apartment. However, when the officer arrived at the scene, it quickly became clear that the woman involved was also caught up in something else entirely. Ocean. I'll take out a second. Obviously, this is like $25 worth of stuff. >> She breaks down on the way to the cruiser, claiming she only took a few things to feed her son. However, after seeing where and how she lives, the officer isn't convinced it was her only choice. Here's what happened. >> Hello. >> Hello, >> Officer M. This is Hot Springs Police Department. So, I've stopped you for a couple reasons. One shows you don't have insurance on the vehicle and you stopped at the red light and then you ran through it. >> How did I stop and run through it? >> You stopped and then you ran through it while it was still red. >> It lit up green. >> No, it did not. It did not. It was still red when you went through it 100%. >> Is there anywhere I can see that? I swear to God it lit green. >> So, >> I mean, I'm not f I'm not arguing with you. I swear I swear I thought I saw it turn green. I I mean I don't have the I don't have the ability to play it back right now, but >> I don't ever run red lights. So I would not need that, but um I do have a driver's license and everything. >> Okay. Yeah. Driver's license, registration, insurance if you got it. >> My insurance I'm not really sure because it's keeps saying pending, but I have it through Rock Creek Auto. >> Okay. >> So um Sorry, we're swapping cars right now. >> You can't blow it up in the system. >> Your insurance? >> I mean, you know, when I have the insurance, I pull that up on my own, but like all that. >> Yeah, you still have to have all that proof set. That's all it is. There's no rush on either side. The suspect is being careful, even a bit nervous. But the officer remains patient while she searches for her license and proof of insurance. A little more light. >> Thank you. >> There it is. [music] That's This is what I hear. >> Okay. Sorry. >> Yeah. I'm pulled over. Jimmy, look finding that insurance young lady. >> No, it's showing no coverage. >> Okay, >> it's under my brother's name and I don't know if he didn't pay it or what, but >> at this point, the stop changes course quickly. The officer smells a strong odor of a controlled substance coming from inside the vehicle. And without a valid card, that gives him enough reason to investigate further. >> So, quick question for you. You have a medical card? Um, no. But I did smoke before I left. >> Okay. >> I'm sorry. You >> mind if I search your vehicle? Yeah, I can smell it. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> All right. Don't reach for anything. So, what we're going to do, >> uh, I'm going to pull you out, just pass you down, make sure you have any weapons on you, and I'll have you stand back here while we're search. Okay. >> Okay. All right. Let's go ahead and your seat belt for me. >> To the officer's surprise, she doesn't hesitate. She agrees to the search without protest, making the next steps go a lot smoother. Hello there. Good job. The officer finally finds what he's looking for. Inside a small container, the officer discovers what confirms his suspicion. A baggie with a controlled substance. Just like that, this goes from a traffic stop to a felony case. Where was it at in the car? >> It It was in a purple That purple Nike thing. >> Okay, go ahead. Stand up for me. Change my bag. >> What? Who's in the car? >> Who's what? Those is in the car. >> And what? How? Where at in the car? >> Are you serious? >> Yeah. >> I don't know, sir. I swear to God. But the officers have seen this play out too many times to take her word for it. >> So inside of that is a black trash bag. >> Inside that is that wipes? >> Yeah, there's wipes. And then under the wipes is a black trash bag. Like you're not going to not see the black trash bag. >> I did not see I did not see no black trash bag. I'm not a criminal. >> No, you're good. >> I'm claustrophobic. >> All right. >> I'll roll the windows down here just for a second for you.
