These employees weren't just bad at their jobs, but they were bad at crime, too. Here are five cases when dumb employees get arrested at work. Number five, argument between co-workers ends with one in handcuffs. In our first case, officers responded to a restaurant where a dispute between two employees escalated into a physical fight. Here's what one of those involved had to say. >> What happened? >> Pretty much all started yesterday. He started arguing with our other coworker, was disrespecting him for no reason. It started the stupid thing over politics. I told him, "Do not bring politics up. It starts arguments at work." That's exactly what ensued. They got in each other's face. One of um I had to send him home because he pissed everybody off and I was just completely over it at that point. >> Um our other coworker got so mad cuz he called his mom. He's listening to everything I'd say. He called his mom. So he You can see the evidence. He punched the basement door down there. >> He punched the door down there. >> Yeah. The bathroom basement door. >> The guy that was outside. >> Yes. And then same coworker was here today. Both of them started bickering once again going at it because he keeps saying under his breath. Paul was home for the second time. The other dude got so mad he left home crying because he's not like he's not a confrontational person and he started calling me names, calling me fat and all this. It's the only job I can get. >> Okay. >> So, >> how did he end up with >> I don't know. Okay. You shouldn't have hit a woman. He smacked me in my face. >> He slapped you in the face. Yes. >> When did he do that? >> He did when we were all outside back there. >> Okay. Is this before or after he What? >> What? >> This before or after? He's covered. >> This was before or Yeah. before. He smacked me first. And that's when it suits. >> All right. Let me see your face. Close your eyes. >> I mean, I was fine. But >> so how long he slapped you in the face? >> I don't know. Was after like 8:20, 8:30. >> Okay. >> Been here trying to clean up, finish pizza orders. >> The woman claims she only stepped in to break up a fight between two co-workers. But instead of calming things down, she says one of them insulted her and struck her. But her story alone doesn't give officers the full picture. >> So did you call your boyfriend at all? >> No, he came here. >> Your boyfriend came here? Yeah, he just showed up saying hi. >> What's your boyfriend's name? >> I don't have to give that information. >> Well, the problem is is he did put his hands on this other employee >> and he put his hands on him, too. >> I know. I need the full story, though. So, I I need his name. I need to be able to contact him and follow up. >> I don't know. He's supposed to be coming here soon. So, >> okay. So, you have a driver's license on you or >> Yeah, he's downstairs. >> All right. So, is your boyfriend on his way back? >> I think so. I don't know. >> What was he wearing? >> What was he wearing? >> I don't know. White shirt, black short. >> What's his name? >> I'm not giving that information unless he shows up. >> You're not going to give me his phone number or anything either? All right. Well, tell him I need him to come back here. Then you need to talk to him about him. Okay. >> Can I talk to you for a second? >> Does she have any signs of being involved in a in a uh in any sort of physical altercation? >> No. >> Cuz she was involved in the battery on this. So, I'll if if she's got no fi feasible explanation of how this guy is involved in a battery or whatever and claims that she is and she's got no marks on her, evidence says this guy is telling us the truth and she needs to be arrested. >> At this point, officers start to question the woman's version of events. And once they receive video evidence showing her as the aggressor, they go back in for another round of questioning. >> Ma'am, I'll tell you exactly what your friend just said. Did you delete that? because I can figure out whether or not you deleted the video off of it. So, I'll start from there. >> I've never had the video. >> I have video showing you in the back walking around videotaping it on the >> My phone was in my hand. I'll show you right now. I do not have anything in here >> cuz here's cuz here's the thing and I'm going to tell you >> nothing. No video. I'll go to my recently deleted as well. >> Listen, listen to me. >> Listen to me, please. >> Nothing there. >> Okay, that can all be cleared. But the phone now is involved in a crime, which means that we get to confiscate it and I can send it to the lab to have them look for >> I don't have anything in there. I promise you on my dead grave, but I never had my phone was in my hand. >> I don't want any promises that cuz you also told my officer over here you did nothing and I got video of you kicking him and spitting on him. So >> Okay. Well, he slammed me in my face. That's okay, right? It's okay to hit a woman. >> Show me the mark >> because that was first. Show a mark. It happened an hour and a half ago. >> Why didn't you call? >> Yeah. So, why didn't you call the police? >> Because what are you guys going to do? >> What do you think we're doing right now? We're investigating and certainly we'll arrest anybody that did any sort of crime. >> Okay. Well, he slapped me in my face. I'm not going for that. I want to press charges on >> When we first got here, you weren't honest with us that of what you actually did do to him. >> How was I not honest? If he hits me first, that's okay. >> No, you didn't tell us that you kicked him and that you were spitting on. >> Okay. Well, he hit me in my face. So, >> let's hold on to this for just a second. >> I asked you if you touched him at all and you said no. >> But you did. >> Well, he hit me. That's okay. >> No, it's not. But I I what I'm trying to understand is why you didn't call us when he hit you >> because I don't know. I wasn't thinking about that first. I was thinking about protecting myself. >> Okay. >> So, we have a video of everything that happened. I need your boyfriend's name. >> She's reluctant to give up any information about her boyfriend despite claims that he was involved in the harassment. Officers are looking for answers, but she's not ready to provide any. >> It's part of the investigation. >> You have information that I need on this investigation >> that involves it involves a battery to you and it involves a battery to your coworker as well. You're right now you're obstructing my my work here. >> That's not my information to give. >> It's illegal. >> Do you you know you know who it was, though? >> No. >> But you do know who he is. >> Okay. I know who he is, but I'm not going to give his information. >> Well, you're committing committing a crime by doing that. >> I'm not committing a crime. >> You're obstructing justice. >> You can't do this. Okay. You can be placed under arrest for that. >> I'm sorry. The enemy first. I don't know what you guys want me to say. I need his name. >> I want to press charges against him. >> So, what's his name? >> I want to press charges against him. Please. >> I need to know his name. >> And I need to press charges against him. >> Okay. Well, you're you're obstructing my investigation here. You understand that? >> So, what's his name? And then he's he's allowed to antagonize people like this. Just walking around the building pointing at people. >> Ignore me. >> You guys are allowing that. >> Okay. Did you not see me yelling at him as he was doing that? >> Man, acting like that. >> This is ridiculous. And he follow me. Okay. >> Here. Come over here so we can >> This is ridiculous. >> Okay. What's his name? >> I'm not giving his name. I'm sorry. I just want to press charges on him. That's all. >> Okay. Let me explain something. I'm going to I'm going to be real blunt with you and I'm going to explain this. If you don't give me his name, you're going to end up getting arrested cuz you have information that's very pertinent to what happened here and you're withholding that from me. That's obstructing justice. >> The woman finally offers a name, but there's nothing more for the officers. Digging deeper is going to take more than a few questions. What's >> his middle name? >> I don't know. >> Date of birth. >> We haven't even been dating that long. >> How long you guys spend together? >> Like for a couple months, like 6 months now. >> What's his birthday? >> I I gave you the name. Okay. >> I know. I need his name and date of birth. >> Press charges. >> His name and date of birth is the minimum that I need. >> I don't know. >> Where does he live? I don't know. Not around here. >> All right. You're lying to me. >> No, I'm not. >> You don't know his birthday. >> I just know know the name. This is >> so ridiculous. Can I please press charges on him? >> I got to figure out what's going on because I'm getting such a small side of the story from you. You've already lied to me and I know you're lying. >> All right, Ignore him. Ignore him. >> He's You're withholding information from me. You're lying to me. >> I can't help you if you're not truthful. >> I'm not lying. I just >> You already lied to me. I know you know it's perfect. >> Hey, because I don't want to deal with this. Like, >> I know you know you're >> I have a job to take care of. I don't want to lose my job. Like, >> why are you going to lose your job? >> I'm just saying he's already probably going to get fired. I don't want to get fired, too. Like, this is all I have. >> All right. So, what's his birthday? Look, I need to identify who this guy is. >> Okay. Well, you're going to see when you look it up. Like, >> I don't know what kind of tools you think I have to find people, but you're not giving me enough information. What's his phone number? >> I don't know. I'm not giving that to you. I'm sorry. >> You're withholding information. Despite repeated chances, the woman won't back down and the officers have now made their decision. >> You're obstructing my identification. You're asking me to arrest somebody, but you're not giving me >> I just said, "Can I press charges?" And you haven't given me an option. >> You're not giving me any timeline of what happened. And you've already You're lying. You're lying to me about your boyfriend. And you're lying to me. >> I have literally just told you everything. >> Were involved in it at all. Wait right here. >> Okay. I'm going to ask you one more time because I'm about to arrest you. >> Okay. >> What is your boyfriend's name? >> I just told >> Okay. So then why did you call him a different name on the video? >> I did. >> Yeah, you did. >> Okay. She's lying to us. So go ahead. She's under because she's obviously continuing to lie to us over and over again when she's obviously involved in all of this. So, at this point, I've got nothing left. I've got no reason to believe anything she's told us. And I got video showing that she's attacking another individual. >> Trying to give you every opportunity. >> Where's it at? >> Where is it? >> In my stomach. My stomach. >> All right. Hang on. Hang on. Hang on. In the end, the woman was charged with battery and obstructing an investigation. Number four, hired to clock in to work. Clocked in to steal instead. On January 9th, 2025, officers were called to a Dollar General after the store manager reported catching her own assistant manager stealing money while on the clock. Listen as she explains how the scheme was carried out. >> What's up? How are you? >> Yeah, it's a little chilly. >> Is there uh Heather here? >> Yeah. >> Are you Are you home? Yeah. >> So, what's going on? >> They're in the office. >> Huh? >> They're in my office. My boss man. >> Taking care of it, huh? >> Uhhuh. >> So, what's what happened? >> He was taking the sweets and scanning them and refunding them to his own card. >> Then >> Mhm. What's this in? >> To he? >> Mhm. >> And he works here. >> Mhm. >> He's my assistant manager. >> Are you the manager? >> I'm the manager. >> You're the You're the boss. And but that's the corporate or something or >> my my district manager is in the office. >> District manager. >> So my boss. >> So he buys products. >> So other people are buying products. if they don't want the receipt, he's calling them up, throwing them away, but then taking them and scanning them and refunding them for putting it back on his debit card. So, he's like, >> "How long has he been doing that?" >> Going to say about half a month now. 18, 19, 20 days now. >> You Heather, right? >> Yes. >> So, what does the district supervisor plan on doing? >> Price charges because it's like over $2,500. >> Okay. And she's got it. She's even got it on flash drives. >> Right. >> Hi. >> Hi. >> An employee who has done fraudulent refunds in the amount of $2655 >> and was aware of it. >> Mhm. He's just written a statement. I have my LP partner on the live on video. I have a statement. I have all the documentation and video >> and admitted to it. >> Mhm. >> When I'm arrested. >> Huh? >> When I'm arrested. >> So, you guys press charges. >> Oh, absolutely. Okay, let me just make a quick phone call. Okay. >> Okay. >> With backup still on the way, the officer steps into the store security room where the suspect is already seated and speaking with loss prevention. >> Are you going to do it? >> Yeah, I'm getting another deputy here. >> Okay. Can you please come in so I can't go? >> Absolutely. I'm getting no record for an >> I have um >> Hello. >> Sheriff's department here. He's got another deputy on the way. >> Okay. >> Hi, how you doing? Jim, how are you? >> Hey, how are you? >> I'm good. I'm the loss prevention manager for Dollar General. I live up here in Tampa. I cover 230 stores in the States. So, >> God bless you. >> All right. Yeah, tell you guys are busy. I know that. So, I appreciate appreciate you guys coming out. Um, so basically what we have is we have some positive refunds that KD has completed here. I've interviewed him. He's admitted to it. He wrote a statement. >> I I I can honor that. >> Okay. So, uh, Gabby has all that documentation for you as well. >> Yeah. And I I'll do a quick interview with them and we'll we'll go over some of the reasons and stuff like that. >> Okay. All right. >> Yes. >> I appreciate you. >> You got I appreciate you. Okay. I'm um I'll put my uh microphone on mute and I'll tight in case you have any questions for me. >> Okay. And um Dollar Dollar General wishes to press charges. >> Yes. >> Okay. All right. Um do you have your ID on you? >> Am I going to be arrested? >> I'm going to go through the motions. Okay. All right. >> Yeah. The suspect may have already admitted to the accusations, but the officer still moves forward with his own line of questioning to confirm the details. >> KD, are you under the influence of or alcohol? >> Do you understand the meaning of perjury? >> Yes. >> Okay. Perjury can be committed by telling lies, leaving out information under oath. It is a crime in the state of Florida. >> Yes. >> Do you understand what I explained to you about perjury? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> All right. So prior to taking this form statement, I am going to place you under oath. All right. So please raise your right hand. KD, do you swear or affirm the statement you're about to give to be the truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth? >> Yes, sir. >> You can put you can put your hand down. All right. And more nonsense here. Uh you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court. You have the right to talk to a lawyer for advice before we ask any questions. you have and to have him with you during question. If you cannot afford a lawyer will be appointed to you before any questioning if you wish. If you decide to answer questions without a lawyer present, you still have the right to stop answering at any time. You also have the right to stop answering at any time until you talk to a lawyer. Do you understand each of these rights I've explained to you? >> Yes, sir. >> With these rights in mind, are you willing to talk to me? >> Yes, sir. >> Thank you. Told you I had to read it. It's >> a lot to read. Okay, >> KD, you know why we're here. >> Yes, sir. >> I know why we're here. You already gave a statement which >> I I think is that part of what happened is commendable. Okay. >> I'm not going to lie to >> No. Well, you can't you're otherwise you p yourself and you catch up more. >> I mean, there's cameras. There's no >> All right. So, tell me what you did and what tell me why. like what's the reasoning? >> Um, I refunded transactions and put them on my card that of stuff that I didn't buy from other customers and obviously they didn't return. Um, and I did it because I was just struggling financially and I just I made a dumb stupid decision and if I could take it back I would. In just half a year he'd earned the title of assistant manager but that didn't stop him from attempting a surprisingly brazen theft. >> How long you been working here? >> 6 months. >> 6 months. Do you like your job? >> Not really. >> That's okay. To be honest, you know, >> not really. No. >> All right. So, how did you come up with that idea? >> Um, >> cuz that's that's pretty sneaky. >> I saw it on Reddit and decided to try it for myself. >> So, run me through a scenario. Somebody comes up and they buy >> they buy like bleach or anything that's not food or alcohol. >> Food. Nothing food or alcohol. Okay. And then they they buy it. So they buy it with cash or card or whatever. >> Card and you scan the receipt and refund it and I put it back on my >> What if they take that receipt with them? You can't do it. You can't. >> So you keep the receipt? >> Yeah. >> And then at a later date or the same day or >> Yeah. A later date usually. Yeah. >> You What do you do? You scan it and like like they're bringing those items back. >> Yeah. >> Gotcha. And then you put it on >> and put it on my card. >> Uh what kind of card do you put it on? uh bank account, Chime card, just a regular debit card. >> May I see it? >> Yes, sir. >> Does this have is it this exact one? >> Yes, sir. >> Or do you use multiple? >> Um that's the that's the one that I use. I didn't use any other card. >> Okay. >> You use cash, too. >> Yes, there was there was cash, too. >> So, you said you do this when they pay with a card. >> Well, uh 99% of the time it was with a card. It was a couple times I did it with cash, too. >> Okay. >> I just got to take the picture. Okay. >> Yeah, that's fine. >> So, how many times have you done this? >> Uh, too many times to keep counting. >> All right. Do you have a dollar amount? >> $2,655. >> $2,655. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. In total, he's accused of stealing over $2,600 by fraudulently refunding the money to his own card using a scheme he admits he found online. Unfortunately, his honesty won't spare him from what comes next >> from this. Did you do it at any other stores? >> No, >> just here. >> Just here. >> All right. Do you have a time frame of the dates that you did it? >> Um, >> was it >> maybe started sometime in November? November to through what? January. >> Uh, yeah. >> Did you do it this year? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> Okay. Um, and you wrote a >> a statement. Yeah. >> Statement. All right. This is your statement. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Is this my copy? >> I have all your stuff in the envelope. You can have that copy, too. >> Okay. All right. Um, >> would you mind reading that to me? >> Yes, sir. >> I, Katie Horner, am writing this statement of my own free will. >> I refunded over two 2,600 to my own card. If given the opportunity, I am willing to pay back the full amount of money that I cost the company. I was struggling financially and made the wrong decision to steal from the company. I will pay back the 2,600 that I lost the company if given the chance. The sincerest apologies, Katie. >> Okay. And I commend you for that. Like I said, that action that you took is commendable. You know, I mean, you're you're you're taking responsibility for inappropriate actions, right? So, >> the store manager called, we have the district manager, and right here's the LP boss of bosses. Okay. They do want to press charges, sir. >> All right. Have you ever been arrested for theft before? >> No, sir. >> Do you have any kind of criminal history? >> No, sir. >> Nothing? >> No. >> Okay. So, that being said, um, is there anything you want to add, change, or Listen, you're getting fidgety. You've been fine this whole time. Have I been transparent with you? >> Yes, sir. >> Have I explained the whole process? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> Relax. Breathe. >> All right. Is there anything you want to add, change, or delete from what you told me? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Well, this concludes your statement. >> The interview is over. His statement is recorded and now it's time for the officers to make the arrest. >> It's 9:34 a.m. January 9th, 2025. >> Okay. So, >> you know the drill. >> And get arrested. >> Well, they want to press charges. Okay. So, you sat down to talk to me. >> Come here, bud. >> Breathe. >> You can just go ahead and send it to >> Put your hands here and then I'm going to >> You have to handcuff me. >> I have to. Yes, sir. >> Can you put it in front of me? Does it have to do >> No. No. >> It's policy procedure that we have to do it way. >> No, not yet. >> Have that subject 10:15. Is there anything KD? >> Yes, sir. >> Is there anything on you? >> I have my phone and there's a vape in my pocket. >> All right. Where pocket? >> I'm going to I'm going to be searching you. >> There's headphones and my phone in this pocket. >> Okay. Anything in your pockets that are going to stick me? No. >> Poke me, cut me? >> No. >> Any kind of anything like that? No sir. >> Okay. >> Your vape is here. >> No, that's my headphone with my vape. >> Hey, >> 23. >> So, you never been charged with theft before? >> No, sir. >> Okay. This is your vape. I will take that. What's this? Um, it's something I got from the customer like 6 months ago. Did you pay for that? >> Um, keep Okay. All right. Just let me check your back pockets here. Is there anything else on here that you're aware of? Nothing. >> Now, the officer takes a moment to explain the legal consequences the young man will be facing. >> Okay. So, this is going to be a felony charge. >> Okay. >> Because of the amount of money. >> Yeah. All right. 2,600 and change. Okay. >> Okay. >> All right. Um, can you just hold on to him? I'm going to grab his belongings. >> I have a book bag in here, too. >> Okay, we'll grab it. >> Okay. >> All good. >> Uh, yes. Thank you very much. >> Okay. C and Kathy, >> you got you know you got all the paperwork for >> All right. He'll get you report all that. >> Yep. >> I'll give you >> Absolutely. Yep. If you want to write down the speech number, you can. So you have it for >> Yes. Hang on one sec. >> Yep. >> So this the flash drive is here. >> These are all the transactions. Okay. Okay, >> he completed them under other people's names. >> Okay, >> so that's how so these are the refunds that were completed under this employees names. >> Okay, >> and that's the total that he completed under this employee. So >> the flash drive has all of these first. So it says one and then these refunds were completed under this employee. Then that's the second set of >> on the >> Okay. >> And then the three, four. >> All right. >> Five. >> Six. And then a copy of the >> Can we put the Can we put this in on top, too? >> Yeah. We got another copy in there for you, too. But And then that's the flash drive. >> Okay. >> Um, you have my phone number if you need anything else. >> I do. >> But it's very well organized for you. >> Yep. And we had a full confession, so we're you're you're good. All right. >> All right. I appreciate you. >> I appreciate you. Thank you very, very much. >> Yes. Thank you. >> With all the necessary evidence in hand, the officers move to wrap up the case. >> KD, I'm going to hold on to your chime card. These are his >> u that's going to be placed in the evidence. Okay. Okay. >> I got a question though. He's used another card. I don't know whose number it is. >> I haven't used any other cards. >> He said no other cards, just cash. Um, >> there's a card that he used. The numbers end in >> if you want to check my wallet for that card, you can. But you're not >> No, not >> I'll take a look. >> Okay. Okay. >> Yep. >> 427. Where you coming from? >> I'm on the army by morning. >> Oh my god. Call the 427. I'll take that. [Music] I told him um to send you a CH for him. So, you want to touch him again or are you good? Uh >> I did a thorough. >> Okay, have a seat. I show the details on the truck expiring 924. [Music] >> The man was later charged with scheme to defraud by obtaining property less than $20,000. Number three, landlord finally faces consequences for going too far. In this next case, officers were called to a rental home after a landlord's attempt to inspect the property led to an unexpected confrontation. Watch as officers investigate what led to the call. >> Whose house is this? >> He's the property owner. I'm the tenant. >> And he's land >> and he just showed up and let himself in. We're having issues with plumbing and rent and water. >> 24-hour notice or anything? He's down >> and he's been texting me and calling me and harassing me. >> Mr. Lee, >> he's down this hallway. >> What? >> In the bedroom. I'm in the bedroom. >> Why don't you push me into this bedroom? >> Hey, M. Mr. Lee, put your hands out the out the door so I can see. >> Okay. >> Make sure you got nothing in your hands. >> Okay. Of course. I will put my phone out. >> Okay. Miss your hands. >> Okay. I raise my hand. >> Okay. Come out real quick. It's just us. They're outside. I I'm I'm afraid that Okay. Okay. Don't record. >> Okay. Are you by yourself? >> Yeah. I'm by myself. >> Okay. >> So, I want to illustrate the issue. >> Just so you know, you're being audio and video recorded. You can put your hands down. >> No, no, no audio. >> No, no, no. We're recording you, but body cameras on. Just so you know, you can put your hands down. >> Okay. So, so the issue is that tenant this day, he asked me to repair the toilet, all the things. Uh they don't do the payment since uh when they move in this house on May 6. The payment due is on the 5th of this month June 5th. >> June 5th. So it's all all 40 days notice has been extended. >> So why did you come here today? >> Because he said that the toilet is not repaired. So I asked the contractor to come today. >> Okay. >> So I need to make appointment with the contractor. I need to take picture. He will code and he will come. >> Okay. >> Do the repairing. And the issue is that they told me that they ran up because this he insist we have inspector to detect that all the we have inspector do the inspection at the end of the last May and he has a official report that the house is liveable and the service normal and this tenant insist that the bedroom is to clean bathroom only to clean. So he refused to uh come back and so he said she lives in a hotel and she never lives here. According to the landlord, he was acting on a maintenance request when he entered, but the tenant sees it very differently. >> Some kind of verbal exchange between the two. >> I told him, "Well, hey, I said you can't just come walking in here." Yes, I can. This is my house. >> I Yeah. >> And then he's trying to say, "We're kidnapping him." >> Yeah. Then then he went in the bedroom, shut the door, and then said, "They're they're blocking me in the bedroom. They're trying to kidnap me." >> And then you know what else he did? Then he he falls on the floor. fell over and >> he falls on the floor with his camera saying, "Oh, they just hit me. Oh, they just hit me. The guy is moving, man." >> Okay. >> Yeah. Trying to say you hit him and then but he pushed you at some point. >> He pushed me. Yes. And then he entered the room and tried to shut the door and I opened the door and said, "You need to leave." And then he he falls down on the floor with his phone. Oh, they just hit me. They just hit me. And this big man, like I said, if my son wouldn't be been here, I don't know what would have happened because the guy, I mean, just that look, he had this look like he wanted to hit me. Trust me. >> So the So today I come because he asked me to repair the toilet. So I come back, come in this. >> Did he call you or text you to come today? So he texted you and asked you >> he text me >> asked you to come today. Can I see that? >> Uh I he said I can't live in your house without my insurance. to present the report is very important. I are still plumbing issues. So I asked me to be need to be fixed. So I need more information. So I I come here to do the fix. So this is a >> Did he ask you to come today? You guys arranged this time to come today or >> the the contract asked me to come to take a look and to take a picture. So this >> contractor asked you not not the tenant. >> Unbelievable. Yeah. I'm definitely getting out of this place. You know >> I mean I just moved last thing I want to do is move again. I mean, I'd only been in here what, nine days and this huge plumbing fiasco and he wouldn't fix the plumbing. He didn't have the water restoration people coming. There's mold growing all on back of the bathroom. I could smell the mold. Oh, nightmare. But yeah, >> I'm definitely getting out of here now cuz this guy is looney. >> Did they know you were coming today? >> They said that don't leave here. >> The tenant tells a different story, claiming the landlord entered without permission and became aggressive when asked to leave. However, the man insists he was within his rights. >> Ask the isable. I ask the contractor to do the toilet construct today and I called him twice. He doesn't respond. So, I told him told her that it's livable, but I will ask the contract to do the toilet construct today. >> Okay. So, for right now, you're just wanting him removed from the property. >> Yeah. He can't he can't legally >> he can't just barge in here. >> No. No. >> You have to give 24 hours notice. Like I said, it's the second time. Maybe the third time he's done this. gave the house cleaners a key and let them come in without any consent of mine. And uh when the plumbing first happened, the property manager came, took videos, was here for hours, and he gave all the information to Mr. Lee, and then he showed up unexpectedly again. So yes, at least three times he's done this nightmare. So, uh I want a restraining order against him. >> So what happened when you got here today? >> When I got here, they have to take a video of me. the he he said she said he it is her son. >> So her mother is the tenant. >> I don't know why he has a son here. >> There's no there's no law in the state of Washington about that kind of stuff. That's >> that's going to be all like civil agreement between tenant. >> If the landlord has certain rules that's a civil agreement has nothing to do with police. So if he's here then he's here. >> Okay. So, well, how can I be reassured that while I'm trying to now as quickly as possible, obviously I've got to have a place to go, my insurance is not going to pay indefinitely for a hotel, but this guy's looney. I And I you know what? I I I actually sent an email to my um attorney and I said, I don't trust this guy. He's making me really nervous. This is before this. I said I don't put it past him to come to the house and lock me out of my own house or well his house. But I sent this email literally a couple days ago. I kind of predict it cuz I can tell this guy's mindset >> while I'm here. He tried to lock the door and then her mother uh dragged me some. >> Now officers begin pressing the landlord for details on how exactly he entered the home. >> How did you get into the house then? >> Huh? How did you get inside the house? I I I used the key to come. >> So where were when you came in the house? Where were Sophia and her son? Where were they? >> They are in here and in the living room. I think I don't know. He said they they don't live here. >> Did they say what are you doing here? What do they say? >> They say uh why you are here? I said I'm here to repair the the toilet. I I was think I need to take picture to sink with the toilet ta to repair it. >> Okay. So you thought they weren't living here? >> Yeah. They said that they in hotel and I need to pay. >> When did they say that? Can you show me? >> Of course. The house is non livable as there is no toilet usable bathroom. >> Okay. But it it doesn't it doesn't say that they're not staying here. That's what I was just looking for. So So okay. So you thought they weren't living here, right, Mr. Lee? Mr. Lee? >> Like he said he he's not living here is non livable. >> Okay. So he So not livable doesn't mean that he's not living here. Okay. But here's the thing. >> But he he tried to kiss me. I I need to go through it. He tried to kill me. He he or she she hit me and he and her her son locked the door and want to kidnap me. >> Okay, >> that is okay. >> Okay. So, I don't know why they're locking the door. I don't think they're I mean >> knocking the door is very >> kidnapping. It was kind of taking you away, but I don't I don't think they're going to kidnap you. >> I don't know why they tried to lock you and maybe they were scared. I don't know. So, you came into the house and then you saw them and they asked you what are you doing here? And then you said I'm here. >> You are not. You said you told me you are not deporting living here. You are leaving a hotel. Okay. And he show him the hotel car. I don't know. >> And then what happened? >> And then I said I come to repair. I need to take picture toilet to a contractor to come to repair. >> So you went to the bathroom to take picture. Yes. >> And then what happened? >> And then when I went into the bathroom, >> try to close the plastic. >> He closed this one. >> His son was something. >> But she didn't hit you. She was just trying to get you into the she hit any person. >> She didn't hit you. hitting is like punching or hitting, right? She was just trying to police. >> It's very Are you injured? Do you have any marks? >> The landlord alleges the woman assaulted him. But without any visible signs of injury, officers begin to question his version of events. >> If she lives in the hotel, she should not come this house because it's very dangerous. He said it's notable. Why isable? >> I'm just trying to make it clear. Nobody hurt you. Nobody hit you. They just tried to pull you in here for for whatever reason. I'll go ask my dad why they did that. But maybe they >> The officers thought the matter was over when the landlord left, but an hour later, he showed up at the property once again. >> I live here. I think with my attorney, my lawyer, they said, "I have the right to repair it because my contractor is >> You do have the right to repair it, but you need to give them a notice." >> I give them the >> I told you today it's not happening. You need to give them a 24-hour notice that you're coming. I I give >> I give up. >> You said today it's not happening. >> I show you a text. >> Sure, >> dude. Pull up the text. I want you to find a text message that says >> you talking to them >> that you're coming today. >> You are coming today with a contractor to fix it 24 hours from now backwards. >> So the issues my attorney directly >> did you find the facts or not? So actually I have attorney and lawyer because I don't want to directly text him. >> So let's let's keep with that. You you shouldn't directly contact them because this is not productive just like we explained earlier. >> So if today I give them notice I I then I can come back tomorrow. >> No, that's not what we're talking >> 24 hours. Yes. I my lawyer I tell you >> I'm going to have >> a lawyer >> you contact your lawyer. Your law your lawyer will contact them and tell them when you're going to be coming. That's the avenue I think you should go. >> Okay. >> And it's not today. >> Okay. No, not today. Okay. Okay. If that day I come, they refuse to move in. So, they will be I will be allowed in that. Correct. >> Why do you need to be here for when this when the contractor comes to work on the house? >> Why do you have to be here? >> I need to get I here >> because they refuse to let you in. >> If they don't need to let you in. They can let the contractors in. If they're here, they can let the contractors in. >> No, this is a landlord entry. He insists that holding a key means he can come and go as he pleases, but the officer makes it clear that's not how it works. >> You're concerned to the landlord allow to enter. >> I'm the landlord. This is a >> the landlord. This is the landlord. >> You're reading the letter. The color of this law is that the two human beings, the tenant and the landlord >> are able to mutually communicate, come to an understanding. >> Yeah. >> That is agreeable to both parties. That doesn't mean it isn't about asserting dominance or trying to make it uncomfortable for them. Okay? It's about you two reaching a solution. And because you two aren't able to communicate effectively together, we are telling you to use your lawyers as a communication like portal, okay? Or go through some mediation thing like the Belleview Conflict Resolution Center. But this your behavior today and us coming back here twice, not acceptable. You yelling at my partner and I telling us the same that you told us before. Unacceptable. Do you understand that? >> I understand. So I first thing. >> No. No. First thing. Is there anything else that you have to add? Cuz if not, we're going to ask you to get in your test and leave. Please. >> Okay. So next time a lawyer ask me to come, I come. If if they don't let me come, this is their fault. I this is the we follow what the law tell you. You tell me the law. What you told me is that I can only fix it after they move out this house. Just just that was not a law. It was wrong. 5 years ago I have the law. >> That is landlord tenant law. That is civil law that is enforced. It's supposed to be civil right between two people coming to a mutual understanding which you two are not able to do >> because I'm I'm afraid of my life right now. Okay. Right. No joke. >> No. He should be arrested >> for what? me. >> He's threatening me. He's harassing me. >> I know, but what did he What did he do to threaten you? >> You can ask the neighbors. The neighbor said she called the police cuz she was shaking. She was so afraid for me and she heard him come in the first time. >> Okay. >> We were in the garage talking. >> Okay, let me let me deal cuz he's all elevated right now. Let me just >> rather than calming down, the suspect grows increasingly emotional, making it harder for officers to reason with him. behavior you're exhibiting is making your tenant feel uncomfortable and unsafe to their house because I give them I have the right to the land to enter the laws. >> You can't barge into their house because I'm not call I'm afraid I want to enter into my house. >> You can't say you're afraid and keep coming back. >> Okay. I will not call you >> cuz your words and your actions are not lining up. >> Okay. I'm the how you're handling it is the wrong way >> because we're involved because civil issues happen on a daily basis. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. >> That we don't get called to. >> So I I I give them notice. Later I will come back tomorrow. You you can see the police said 24 hours. I give you notice 24 hours. This time I will come back. I give you notice and today I will go back home. I give you the notice. 24 hours I will take contract back. Yesterday tomorrow fixing it. Okay. Fix the toilet. Make it liveable. No excuse for no payment. >> We're not here to discuss your civil issue. >> Oh, sorry. Sorry, sorry. I just told that I give you solution. I give you option. Your payment, you don't need to pay. >> I'm not standing here so that you can freely say whatever you want to them. >> If you have nothing else to say to us, please get in your car and go. >> You don't cheat. You say leave. You still leave it there. TV open. TV open. Look over. >> Everyone to be relable. Everyone to pay the cost. No, no cost. If you cannot come right, I will continue just repair it until it's liveable. Sorry. Sorry for everyone. Sorry for everyone. I tried to fix it but no one let me fix. >> With the landlord now off the property, officers take time to fully hear the tenant side of the story. >> He did he ever actually leave the first time? >> We made him leave >> and then he came back. >> My attorney said I mean he's he's told me it's criminal harassment. You told him not to come back. He came right back. You can tell my neighbors. The first time we called, she said she was shaking. She was so afraid for me. And then we were stand. I didn't know where he came from, but he came just up here just screaming. I was speaking with them in the garage. And here he came. You can ask them, but the lady said she was so afraid for me the first time. >> She was shaking. And she called the police as well. >> What exactly was it saying when he got here? >> I don't know. I just said, >> you know, so we're we're trying to work we're trying to work through what what's really going on here, but we want to make sure >> like we get accurately what he was saying. >> I don't know. I was so afraid I just shut the garage. I just heard him just come up screaming. You can maybe ask them. I don't know what he was saying. >> Are those the neighbors right there? >> Yeah, they live right next door. Go talk to them. I I don't know where he came from. I'm just I'm so afraid of this guy at this point. >> Hi there. >> So, you guys saw him come back this second time. >> Oh, yeah. >> This guy is nuts. >> Yeah, he is. We were talking in the garage. >> Mhm. >> And and she saw him coming and so she hit the garage door and he started running like crazy and he dove underneath the garage door to get in. >> So you guys were Were you were sitting in the garage or outside? They were in the garage. >> Oh. Chatting with the chatting with the mold. >> They lit right here next door. >> I called it in twice. >> Oh, so you guys were and then she saw him try to run in and he What did you hear? Did he say anything? Oh. Then he started yelling and she ran into the house and closed the door. >> What was he saying? >> I can't. I was so Oh, >> it's his house. He has a right to come in. >> Yeah. And he's going to change the locks and she can't change the locks. >> Okay. >> I would like She's scared. I'm scared, too. >> The more officers learn, the clearer it becomes. It's alarming that others are just as uneasy about the landlord's actions. You didn't hear You didn't hear exactly what he said, but y'all were standing there and he tried to dive into the thing when sheice. >> She didn't want him in there. >> He went out and started yelling on the driveway and then she came in and hit the door again cuz it's right by the the door that goes into the house. >> And he came and and literally stopped the door from coming down and pushed it. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> So, foundationally how it started civil, but then his behavior is escalating. Yes. We want to try to make sure we get all the information. Yes. >> So that before it goes past any sort of civil measure, we want to make sure we have all the information. >> Said I don't know why the police don't take action. It's like criminal like stalking harassment at this point. >> Well, the RC based on the RCW, it's not technically stalking. >> Well, it's harassment. You told him to leave and not to come back and to give me notice. >> Correct. The RCW says that as far as harassment goes, it has to be a threat against uh bodily harm. Yeah. >> A direct threat to harm you >> or your property. >> Right. >> So if you didn't say >> if the guy's coming up here screaming like when he came in the first time and looking at me with this just >> face like I want you. You can ask them. I don't know. He came up here screaming. I know that. >> Yeah. We're we're working through it right now. So we're >> we're trying to figure that out right now. If we we're able to arrest him. That's kind of we might call him back just to >> But what happens if he comes back again? Well, that's the thing. We We might be calling him back here so we can arrest him. >> Well, just not tell. >> I bet you anything. And I don't feel real comfortable. I feel sorry for that lady. He will come back. >> Oh, yeah. I'm sure he will. >> He will come back. I'll change the locks. >> Yeah. Well, we told her if he does do that, she has all the right in the world to break the door down to get back into there. So, she >> Well, you know, this isn't the first time that he was screaming. I think it was the management company was screaming that. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Okay, thank you. >> Returning to the tenant, the officers finally begin to see just how serious the situation with the landlord really was. >> So, did you miss a June payment? >> I did because I haven't had plumbing and mold and water restoration and >> was there an um was there an inspector that came out and deemed it livable? >> There's no toilets in the house. >> There's no toilets. >> No toilets or a shower. All on the draw. >> Yeah, you can go look everything. >> How long have they been missing toilets for? Oh, for several days. >> Okay. Is that why you're at a hotel? >> Yeah, we're going to >> You know, he didn't fix the plumbing the first time for 5 days, >> which is illegal. >> I think >> we can uh we don't have to do this outside. If you guys want to like close the garage door button up and like maybe go get a glass of water and come back. >> I don't trust leaving this house. >> I I think I need to get the locks changed. I I think he'll be back. I I >> like I said, we're we're trying to work through that and trying to buffer. But if your plan is to get out of here, Yeah. >> I wouldn't worry about trying to schedule locks to get changed. I worry about like trying to >> Yeah. But if I leave and then he's sitting in there and he, >> you know, I I don't know. I just I don't think the guy abides by the law. He clearly doesn't know anything about landlord tenant laws. >> So, why don't you take his suggestion and just chill for a second? >> There's nothing on his return. >> Okay. Just as the tenant predicted, the landlord came back the next day. However, this time his unannounced visit resulted in charges for criminal trespassing, harassment, and violating the Residential Landlord Tenant Act. Number two, hitting someone and driving off doesn't end well for a woman fresh out of work. On July 31st, 2024, officers responded to a liquor store parking lot for what was reported as a minor crash. However, the suspects involved allegedly tried to flee the scene, complicating the situation. Here's how the authorities handled the case. >> And she started yelling at me. She's looking. >> Okay. Will you get your license, registration, and insurance? >> Um, and I, even though she's being vulgar and stuff, basically, I have y'all take pictures of each other's >> and then have to go through insurance. Um, since it's not like a big crash or nothing, we don't really, >> but I get y'all to get each other's info. Yes, sir. >> I don't know if whatever you're involved with involved with the car. >> Yeah, there two young ladies right inside my store. One of them. >> Yeah, that's why I called it too. >> Okay. Yeah, that's with that car. Yeah. >> Okay. Well, I just want >> So, I'll come in and talk with them in a second if you would get that for me. >> I sure will. I'll come. Yeah. The other one is the one that was making >> Okay. Yeah, there they are. Right over there. 169 >> 28 29 Alabama >> 626 5 Bravo Delta Tate. Hey ma'am. Hey ma'am. >> Stop. Hey, you're going to stop? Back up. >> Okay, >> back up. >> Just like the first, the second suspect isn't eager to cooperate. But the officers are committed to finding out who's truly responsible. >> I'm not even doing you. >> Oh, I thought it wasn't your car. How are you getting in? >> It's not That's not my car. That's hers. That's not my car. Okay, >> that's our car. Okay, I'm completely I'm I'm acting. I'm not I'm not giving you no problem. >> Yes, you did. You resisted. I told you. >> No, I didn't. No, I didn't hear you. >> It's no problem. >> I want to make sure I'm not give you no problem. Dump it out. Get out of here. I want to make sure I'm not giving you no issues. >> Dump it out, friend. >> I'm not give you no issue. Dump it out. >> Dump everything out. I'm on I'm not giving you no issues. We came to get some. >> Y'all go pull on this random car handle so you look like you're not involved with this one. Then go walking away. I'm right next to it. >> We weren't trying to get one. No. What? No. >> She's not making it easy, but the officers continue questioning her. Still working to piece together who's truly to blame. Whoever is driving this car is going to jail. Okay. So, whoever is driving when y'all hit this lady and walked away, cuss her up and down. There's cameras right here. Y'all aren't y'all aren't slick. Okay. So, when I go check those cameras, whoever's driving this car is going to jail. Step out of the car. >> Car. >> Sit on the front of the hood. I'll be doing a report now. So, just I'll be back. >> But just as officers are focused on the second suspect, the first manages to slip out of her cuffs. >> What? >> I haven't even done anything. I haven't given you no issues. I haven't done anything. >> Hey, you haven't given me no issues. >> Oh, my mom. I haven't. >> Okay. I give you everything. I don't have any issues. >> Put your hands up behind your back. >> Okay. So, behind my back. >> Yep. >> Okay. >> What you want me to do? Just cross them or >> ridiculous. >> I haven't g you any issues. >> You did. Y'all y >> I said don't honestly explain to me how >> y'all go pulling on a random door handle. Actually, >> it's her name. >> Okay. >> What's up? >> I'm sad. I guess somebody take me home. Why can't I take home? Ma'am, is your license in Florida or Alabama? >> Okay, we'll see. So, >> wait and see if her license valid and stuff like that. >> Yeah, my license valid in Florida. So, what's up? >> She's going to jail. >> What is that? >> Why? >> Whenever I told y'all to stop, y'all are walking away. She physically resisted me trying to put her in handcuffs. She did not report to >> have an attitude in the car. >> You do that. >> We're tow it. You know what, ma'am? No, that's fine. We'll tow it. We'll tow it. You're not taking her car home. >> License is good. >> Okay. >> Okay. 47. >> I'll make sure your employer knows how you've been. >> Okay, I will. >> The second suspect may not own the car, but that doesn't mean she's in the clear. Officers still have questions to answer before releasing her. >> Y'all are going to hit this lady and just walk off like nothing happened. >> Yeah, >> that's why you're not taking the car, man. >> I'm going to get to I'm towing the car. >> I'm towing the car. I don't care. ma'am. What's a good phone number for you? >> What's a good phone number for you? Okay, you're free to leave, ma'am. Uh, your friend's going to jail and I'm going to park. Yeah, open the door. >> I got other stuff to do right now and you're directly in the middle of it. >> If you don't leave, I'm going to arrest you, too. >> Ain't no truck leaving. >> Anyway, D, I'm looking at your car. [Music] >> Especially you. Yeah, you can leave. Have a nice day. With the situation under control, the officer lets the victim know what's next for the suspect. >> The lady in blue is driving like you said. Um, she's going to jail for hit and run BR5 and on UV on six. Penco Romeo 5 9 Victor. She's on another vehicle. >> Do you have your stuff with you, ma'am? Your big >> um >> mother. She just cussed you up and down and left. Right. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Um do you swear that that's true? >> Okay. And I got it on video her pulling in and getting out and everything. Oh, >> so just give me a second. Um, and then I'll get the your paperwork and you can go. >> Anything else? >> Uh, no. I should be good. this person. Um, this police closed vehicle water. That's it. I'm saying in one line right now. Please. >> Like we weren't like fist fighting or anything, but it's like, "Hey, stop." And they're walking away and then she was pulling away from me putting her in handcuffs. >> In one line, Steven had nothing to do with me. Just let you guys please. >> 21 over 25. >> Please. I swear to God. >> The suspect's voice grows more desperate, but no amount of begging is enough to change the outcome now. 200. >> Please, sir. I swear to God. Please. That has nothing to do with her. Nothing to do with me. Please. I swear to God. You're driving. >> No, I swear to God. We literally just drove from the blade to the firehouse. I swear to God, please. >> You were driving. >> Please right now. >> So, nothing to do with me, please. I swear to God. >> Okay. Do you want to see the video? >> Please. >> You're not going to jail for DUI. yelling. >> You're going to jail for >> freaking drive. So, you can stop screaming. >> I just swear to God. I swear to God, please. >> Maybe was driving. >> She was not. >> I swear to God. Test me right now. I swear to God. >> Do you want to see the video of you driving? >> Can we please test it again? I swear to God, I did not drunk driver. Please. I miss Jana was the only person. Not Jana. Janelle. Jana and Ka was the only person to shot. Please. >> I never said you were drunk. Let's take let's take a test right now. I swear please. I will take any session you want to take. I swear to God on my grandfather, please. >> To work without interruption, the officer steps outside the vehicle to finish the paperwork for the victim. >> I don't want this.
