These folks claimed they had every right to be there until the questions started piling up and their stories started falling apart. Here are five cases when entitled squatters try to outsmart cops. Number five, homeless man breaks in through the hotel fire escape and invites a friend over. On April 29th, 2024, officers were called to a Hilton hotel after staff discovered that a homeless man had broken in and stayed inside a guest room for several days. It wasn't until he brought a friend over that security noticed something was off. It was then that the police were finally called. Which fire escape are they going up? >> The one that's on this side. We assume, but anytime I change, >> the doors are shut. So, I don't know how they keep getting back in and stuff like that. >> Okay. So, this is the that's the fire escape. >> That's one of them. We have some in this one. >> This one is not in camera view, >> but there's no way to get into those unless you have access, right? >> Or >> from the outside. >> Yeah, from the outside. No. So, we don't know. So they're probably unless they propped it open. They come in this way, leave it propped and come back later. >> The whole is baking. >> There's no access to the fire escape through the room though, right? >> No, no, no. >> Hello. [clears throat] >> Yes. Can you open the door? >> What kind of security? >> What kind of security? >> How can I get access to this? >> With no response from the occupant, officers had no choice but to ask security for assistance in gaining entry to the room. >> Step back inside. >> See your hands. hands. >> Stand up. >> He said he had a rule. >> Keep your hands. I see you got knives. All right. Hands up. This is officer the knives. >> Yeah, please. Yeah. >> I got you. Who's they? He did. Well, >> I got three knives I got to remove here. Yes, sir. Just for safety. >> The security lady even saw us come up. I know. Hey, >> come here. I didn't know. >> How do you get through the room? >> Huh? >> The room wasn't left open. >> Who's there? >> You want to stay here? >> There's nobody that stays here. That's why we're here. It's >> locked up, man. The room is open. I swear to God. >> The room is open. >> There's no breaking. The room is open. >> You had no business to be here. >> Yeah, I know. How many time I scored you off property? >> The room was open. >> How many time I escort you off property? >> I know the room was open. >> Yeah, you know. So that's it. You break in. Let me just check your pockets. Just relax. >> What do you got in your back pocket here? >> You got a dangerous place, but >> took all those knives. Turn >> around for me. >> Yeah, just put your hands behind your back >> right now. Hey, right now you just being detained. >> What's going on? >> Yeah, security lady is the one that called us. in your room. >> They're already under arrest for trespassing, but what officers find next makes matters worse. >> How did you get in? >> He had a key? >> Well, he doesn't have a key. >> Nobody has a key. >> I swear to God, >> did you come in through the front? >> Yes, I came into the front. >> No, cuz security called. You did not come in through the front. >> At 4:00, the room was open. I swear to God. >> You've been here afternoon. You found a door open. You accessed the room. >> The room was open, sir. Yeah, that's mean. Nobody gave you access to the room. You found a door open. >> If you're not allowed here, it's called breaking in. Even though you didn't break anything, >> dude. You're not You should have just left me where it was, man. >> You're not even allowed here, dude. I swear I didn't know. I had no idea, though. He said I had no idea. Come on. >> For what? >> What is that? What? >> For TV. >> For these TVs. >> Oh, now you got burglary charges. >> Is this your TV? This for your TV and that was in his pocket charges. >> This is my freaking >> put back over this. >> Thank you. >> Those This the bike is Which bike? That's his bike, right? This is your bike. >> That's my bike. I just >> Yeah, >> because he had three knives on him over here. >> That's not ide. >> Well, it's yours. You had it in your possession. >> You were going to leave with us. >> I'm not coming no more. >> I had no idea. Not that it's illegal to have, but it's just >> How'd you get in the room? >> He walked up here and he had card in his hand. Walked right up to the door and he put the card down and pushed it. She had a card. >> Yes, sir. A red card was on the dresser. >> If I didn't see a card, I wouldn't even come home. >> With the charges piling up, officers take extra care to fully search both men before moving forward. >> Any needles on you? >> What? >> No, sir. >> If I get poked, things go bad for you. Do you understand me? >> Where's the other guy? He might just get trespassed because he is the one that that they just saw go up there because he gave him permission. So as long as he doesn't have anything on him, he's just getting trespass. Listen to me. You had their remote in your pocket. >> Come on. >> That's the best inside. I wasn't trying to steal it. I wasn't trying to steal your pocket. >> Who put the remote control in the pocket? >> And then you put your >> I know. Come on. Don't try to do the remote controls. I try to steal that. >> Well, you are. All right. >> You know me, >> yeah, I know you. You know better. They explain to you nothing in there. >> It wasn't good. I'm just going to >> I think it's just going to be him. Okay. >> I saw him come up just now. He thought he'd have to leave. So I mean, so he came in at 4:00 and said yesterday afternoon, saw the door was open, came down in there, let him know that, hey, I got a room. So dude, oh, you got a room? Cool. I came up saw me. He's really not guilty anything. Plus, he had the remote control when we detained him, have the remote control in his pocket. So now you have one of the charges instead of trespassing. It's only a $10 remote. >> Oh, so that's why he didn't want us in there. >> He said that wasn't his bag, even though he was holding it. He says what they do is they check out usually people check out at like 400 p.m. on Sunday yesterday and people these guys will come in see which doors are locked and people have their keys on there. >> Before booking the suspect, officers run field tests on the recovered substances to confirm whether additional charges are warranted. >> Dude, he was seen coming in. That dude contacted him saying, "Hey, I got a room." It was all him. This guy didn't know. He should have known better cuz it's a transient. >> Yeah. He got trespassed. >> No, no, no. That's what he said. >> Your voice screaming yesterday. In the end, only one suspect faced criminal charges for burglary and paraphernalia possession. The second suspect, however, was only trespassed from the property and was released after the incident. Number four, hotel guest ignored staff, [music] ignored the bill, and ended up in handcuffs. This next case begins at a hotel where staff called the police about a guest who refused to check out. What follows is what officers encountered on arrival. So apparently somebody's supposed to check out. They haven't checked out yet. >> All right. So >> she's still in the room. >> Okay. >> Not opening the door. >> Is this ready to check out day? >> 11:00. Today is the check out. Yes. >> Okay. >> The room is under the guy's name. Um he is the person. We don't even have her ID. He's not here. >> Okay. So he's not >> He checked out yesterday actually, but still she's in there. So this person checked out yesterday but somebody else is in his room. >> Yeah, he gave me a call uh yesterday evening that I am already out of the room and according to him even she should be out in the evening itself but we did not check because he had his reservations since morning here >> and right now she's still in the room. >> Was that lady with him or >> we don't know. We don't know. >> We don't know. Okay. >> He checked in only. >> So according to your record she's not supposed to be here. >> Correct. Okay. >> And 11:00 is check out time anyway. It's 12:15 now. >> Yeah. Okay. >> Where were >> again? >> Yeah, we can check. All right. Yeah, go ahead and open it. It's a deadlock. >> Clear water. Police open up. Are you able to open it from out here? Nothing. >> The officers and staff head to the room after a short rundown. Unfortunately, despite their efforts to unlock it from the outside, the guest inside only makes a quick appearance before staying put. >> Clearwater police, open up. Jimmy, I need a lock key manual key from the lobby room number 149. Please, can you go and get it? I was going to Okay, you guys have There she was. >> Clear water. Police open the door now. >> She's in. I saw her put her phone outside. >> Ma'am, open the door. This slide or no slide. >> Ma'am, open the doors. Clear Water Police. Ma'am, you will be arrested if you do not come to the door. >> Through the glass, officers spot the woman inside, and it's clear she's doing everything she can to keep them from coming in. With the door bolted, hotel staff try a different approach. >> We just want to talk to you, that's all. How do the windows work? >> They're going to open. >> You can open it. >> Yeah, it's unlocked. I just don't know how it Okay. Just ask him what's unlocked. Slide it. >> There's nowhere to grip it on here. Just pull it. Ma'am, open the door. She So, she's got the dead bolt up top as well. Huh? >> They Yeah, they can open. Yeah, they can force entry. It's their door. >> It's It's your problem. You guys can do whatever you want. friend. After repeated attempts by both officers and staff to get her to open the door, the woman finally speaks up. Ma'am, >> open the door and talk to us. >> You need to speak with the management. They're right out here with us. >> I'm sorry, I cannot hear you. >> I cannot hear you. >> Can you please open the door so we can speak? I cannot hear you. >> Ma'am, you're being trespassed. Come tell her she's being trespass. >> You are trespassed on the property. >> Did you hear that? >> So that means you have to leave the premises right away or else you will be arrested. >> The staff just told you you're being trespassed. You have to open the door first and then you can pack it up. You have to open the door first. >> Ma'am, if you refuse to leave after being trespassed, you will be arrested. >> Open the door. >> Open the door. See? >> Is that That's fine. So are we. So are we. Open the door so we can make sure you're okay and staff can talk to you. Okay. >> The woman claims harassment by the officers and hotel management. Meanwhile, the officers and hotel staff spot something vital, which brings them a step closer to getting inside the locked room. >> Yeah, but the problem is >> does the other does that side slide? Is it that which side moves? >> Which side? >> Opening the door. Arrest. This is the approach. >> Yeah, there's a block right there on that. >> There's a situation that you bring in the house. You you are the registered guest. You'll be the reason >> that that side's not going to slide because there's something right there. Look. See, it's blocking it that way. >> Ma'am, open the door. >> If you do not open the door, you'll be arrested. >> This This side slides. This side. This side goes that way. >> I think you tell me. >> Oh, it's screwed in. So we are just explaining. >> You are the one that invite that person. >> Open the door now. >> There you go. Whatever you have to do, you have to do that. I'm just going to enter the hole in there. >> Come to the Come to the door now. Unlock it. >> Ma'am. >> No. >> Violating my right. Violating my right. >> Turn around. >> Nope. Violating my rights. >> Turn around. violating my rights. Jehovah. Jehovah. >> Ma'am. Ma'am, put your hands behind your back. Hands behind your back. Jehovah, >> we're not going to ask you. >> Jehovah, please. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Please. Jehovah, please. I couldn't even get my stuff without leaving. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> No. >> The officers finally find their way inside the room, and that gives them the chance to finally put a stop to this whole situation. And while the woman tries to plead her case with the officers, her actions say otherwise. >> You will be charged with resisting arrest if not comply with us. >> I didn't resist. >> You check the >> call it out. >> I'm getting arrested. They just came in my room and I'm getting arrested. >> I was trying to get my stuff and they wouldn't let me get my stuff. THEY JUST KEPT TRYING TO COME IN my room and I FELT LIKE I WAS IN DANGER. >> NO, you don't have to tell her what? >> No, I couldn't. >> Give us the phone. Drop it. Hang it up. What is it? Why do we Why is there a live animal in here? >> What is this? A duck? >> Yes. Is this duck duck everywhere? >> That's why I was trying to [laughter] clean up before. >> Okay. >> So, why did you open the door? >> Don't. Yeah. Just >> take her to a car. >> Do you have anything on you? >> All right. >> Got no weapons, anything illegal [laughter] on you? Can I please have my >> We're going to get you all that in a moment. This story [laughter] again. I'm silent. I was just trying to get all of my things so I can leave. In the end, the woman was charged with resisting arrest. Moreover, she was also trespassed from the hotel premises. Number three, woman's attitude gets her arrested. On September 4th, 2025, officers responded to a motel after staff reported a disruptive guest who refused to leave. Here's what happened when police stepped in. Deputy Stern with the sheriff's office. Okay. >> Supplies out here. >> Okay. So, >> I don't have TO BE HERE. ERICA, LET me in. Erica, please. >> Listen. Listen. Listen. Okay. Hey, >> Erica. >> Listen. Okay. LISTEN TO ME. >> They don't want you here anymore. Okay. So, you need to grab your stuff and we got to go crazy because my stuff is already in the lobby. So, yeah. So, let's get it and let's go. Okay. >> What you mean let's get it? Let's go. MY STUFF IS ALREADY THERE. >> Then let's go down and get it. >> What do you mean go DOWN AND GET IT? THEY ALREADY GOT IT. >> OKAY. SO, LET'S go get your stuff. Stop banging on windows. Okay. Let's go. Go downstairs. >> We don't want to escalate things. All right. Let's go downstairs. Come on. If you don't just do it, I'm going to have to touch you and push you. We don't want to do all that. Okay. Let's go downstairs. They don't want you here. Okay. I know they don't want me here. >> Management. Okay. They said you're causing a scene in the lobby. >> I'm not causing nobody to see anything. >> Let's walk downstairs. We're not going to keep banging on stuff. Okay. All right. Hey, listen to me. Listen to me. All right. I am trespassing you from this property. They don't WANT YOU HERE ANYMORE. >> SO, listen to me. Listen to me. >> What you want me to do? >> Can you listen to me for a minute? Okay. So, if we don't get our stuff and we don't go, I'm going to have to arrest you for trespassing. >> For what? >> For trespassing. Cuz I'm telling you, they don't want you here anymore. Okay. >> If my stuff is if Listen to me if that's the >> Listen to me. Okay. >> Okay. Are you Are you going to listen and get your stuff and go or do you want to GET ARRESTED? >> SHE HAS MY >> OKAY. LISTEN TO ME. DO you want to go to jail or do you want to get yourself AND GO? >> SHE GOT IT. >> OKAY. IF YOU LISTEN LISTEN if you want to get your stuff and go is your last opportunity. >> With the officer's presence, the woman remains hysterical and aggressive, causing a louder disturbance. While on their way to sort things out, the woman escalates things quicker than anybody could anticipate. >> If you don't want to get your stuff, we can go to jail. That's fine, too. >> Okay, let you want to go to jail. Okay, we can do that. Do you need an ambulance or anything? Are you okay? >> I see you're like stumbling. Were you drinking? >> Yes, I was. >> Okay. >> For what? >> I got you. >> She has my stuff in her room. >> SO, I GOT YOU. WE'LL HAVE TO FIGURE THAT OUT LATER. >> Get your Listen, I need >> I need you to calm down before we can figure OUT WHAT'S GOING ON. >> OKAY, LET'S GET your stuff. Let's get your stuff. >> Oh my god. >> Let's get your items. Where do you live? Okay, stop moving around so much. I don't like you creeping up on me. Okay, where do you live? >> Right there. >> Okay, YOU LIVE RIGHT THERE. >> SHE HAS MY STUFF. >> OKAY, HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN LIVING THERE? >> Two months. >> Two months you've been living there. Okay, I got you. All right, >> go get my stuff. >> LISTEN. >> NO, I AIN'T NO YOU DON'T NEED TO SIT HERE AND LISTEN to you. >> Say bye. That's crazy. You want to be aggressive with me? >> 61. We're fighting. >> Hey, put your hand behind your back now. Give me your other hand. No, I'm not. You >> want to sit here? >> 61. She's imposing you. >> Do you have any weapons on you? >> Do you have any weapons on you? >> DO I LOOK LIKE ANY WEAPONS? >> I'M JUST ASKING. OKAY, stop moving around so much. >> Even in handcuffs, the woman continues her loud and erratic behavior, testing the officer's patience to its limits. >> Stop. >> Get off of me. >> Okay, I'm trying to make sure these AREN'T TOO TIGHT. >> THEY'RE THEY ARE TIGHT. >> OKAY, THAT'S WHY I'M CHECKING. >> GET OFF OF ME. >> I'M NOT ON YOU. >> THEY HURT. >> YOU'RE SLIPPING YOUR HAND OUT OF THERE. NO. >> Tell him to get off of me. >> Do you want to sit up? >> You need to calm down. >> I'm calm. >> You're clearly not calm. >> OH, HOW AM I NOT CALM? >> I SAT HERE AND TOLD you that the person who's in the room would sit here and rest. >> Okay. >> Get off. >> KICK YOUR FEET OUT. NO, BECAUSE YOU'RE BEING CRAZY. >> Get off me. >> What are you doing to yourself? >> Myself? Really? Are you serious right now? >> Can you sit up and cross your feet and calm down? I don't want you to hurt yourself. Please. >> I I hurt myself. >> Cross your feet and stop moving around all crazy. What did I do to be under arrest? >> Number one, you almost hit me. Number two, I told you. >> Why did I hit you? >> Listen, >> man. What are you? >> I'm telling you. >> The woman continues to complain that the officers are mistreating her and remains uncooperative. This behavior pushes the officers to take things to another level. But instead of deescalating, the woman pulls off a move that nobody expected. >> You're not getting up. Stay seated. >> Stop touching me. >> Okay. Well, then stop moving around. >> Stop touching me. >> I need you to calm down. >> Sit down. >> Stop touching me. Stop touching me. >> Okay. >> Stop touching me. >> My hands are not on you. >> You were. >> Listen to me. Stop. I told you not to get up. Listen. Stop. >> Let's go. >> Stop. >> Okay. So now you want to stay down. >> All right. Where's your car? >> Now that's in the front. >> All right. Let's go. >> Stop touching me. Stop touching me. Are you going to stand up and walk or no? >> Don't want me arrested. But y'all don't want the person that was already arrested. Y'all don't want her arrested anyway. Y'all want me arrested? >> Hey, stop. Let me go. >> Let me go. LET ME THE >> Let me go. Let me go. >> Let me go. Let me go. Let me go. >> Just kick two officers. >> Let me go. >> All right. >> Let me go. Let me go. >> Let him get him. Get off. >> Stop. STOP. >> GET OFF OF ME. >> Get off. Yeah. You know what? Where you from today? >> Y'all going to be right there and y'all going to sit there and y'all going to be looking as stupid as >> because AIN'T NO WAY I GOT my hands cut behind my back. I >> The struggle continues as the officers attempt to place the woman in the cruiser. Her outbursts grow louder and she refuses to settle down. >> It can't hurt y'all. Stupid. I didn't do nothing to nobody. I didn't do nothing. You know I didn't do nothing to nobody. YOU SAID THAT YOU YOU KNOW I DIDN'T DO NOTHING. I SWEAR TO GOD. I hate the police. I swear to God. Y'all act like y so big and bad. you y'all acting like NO [screaming] [screaming] I swear to God y'all going to have a lawsuit on your hands. Let me out this car now. You ain't got no probable cause. Let have me stay in this car. Let me out. Let me out. Okay. Stop. >> Stop what? >> Do you have any probable cause of holding me? No, you do not. Let me the out. >> Put your feet down. >> Let me out. >> LISTEN TO ME. >> LET ME OUT. >> THE SQUAD AGAIN. I'm going to charge. Get in there. Stop it right now. Stop. >> What you going to charge me for? >> Okay. I'm going to charge you with uh damage uh government property. Okay. >> Government property. >> Get in there. Get get in there right now or you're going to get another charge. Do you want another charge? Okay. Get in the car right now, >> bro. Let me out. >> Get in the car. >> You don't have nothing to charge me with. You don't have nothing to me. >> Get in the car right now. You're making this a lot harder than it needs to be. >> Then let me the out. >> Oh, you already got what? Stop. >> Just before being transported, the woman makes one last attempt to stir up trouble, leaving officers even more frustrated. >> First of all, what David? Hey, >> first of all, get the off. >> Get back in there now. >> Get in there now. Can you go to the other side? I'm not Wow. >> Yep. Wow. That's crazy. >> Yep. >> And it's it's crazy because I'm I'm fing charges on both of y'all. >> Yep. Bro, you still going to go to jail. You do know that, right? >> Yeah, we're at the jail right now. >> Okay. Well, let's go because you f to go there with me. I am with you. >> Here we are. >> After everything that happened, the woman received multiple charges. She was charged with criminal trespassing, resisting arrest, and aggravated battery to a police officer. Number two, officers try to reason with a woman acting childishly. It ends with her in cups. On February 21st, 2025, officers were dispatched to a hotel after staff reported an unregistered guest found sleeping in the hallway. Staff had already tried waking the individual, but got no response. Here's what happened when the police arrived >> on the second floor of room 203. She's just uh on the floor. I don't know if she's a guest or not. I was trying to make sure if she had a key on her. >> Is she like drunk or homeless? >> Yeah. No, she I mean, she doesn't look homeless. I think she's just had a good time. I think she's just hers. >> What? >> Just trying to figure out what room >> I think. I'm not too sure. She's I didn't see the key on her, so I'm not too sure. >> I don't know what her name is. >> Did you try asking her or >> No, she's like she's not respons. >> Yeah. Second floor. >> Take the elevator or the stairs. >> Oh, you can take the stairs. We're already down the hallway. Okay. Ma'am. Hello. Hello. Hello. You wake up for me. >> Ma'am. >> Hey, we're the Rosemont, please. >> Rosemont, please. >> No. No. You're not in trouble. >> You're not in trouble. I need you to wake up. Okay. Are you a guest here? >> What's your name? >> All right. We're not doing this. Come on. >> Ma'am, are you okay? You got to talk to one of us here. >> It's just >> Are you staying in this hotel? Are you a guest here? Do you have a room? >> Okay. What room are you in? Do you know? >> No, it's >> okay. Yes. >> So, I'll just go back uh find out at the front desk. >> What's going on? Are we coming from a bar? No, >> you're not in trouble. >> No, I know. >> Yeah, we're just trying to help you. The front desk called us because they found you. You try to wake you up because you can't be sleeping in a hallway. >> You're very out of it. So, we're just trying to figure out what's going on. >> I know that's a a wild way to wake up, but >> Officers approach the woman and try to assess what's going on, but she appears disoriented and unwilling to cooperate. I mean, is this your room right here? 203? Do you know? Do you have any idea? >> No, I don't know. >> Who Who are you here with? Yourself or who who are you staying with? >> I don't know. >> You don't know? >> No, I know. >> Who Who is that? >> Why? >> Cuz we're trying to We're trying to get you to them so we can leave. >> Cuz right now this is glorified babysitting. I want to get you to your room so I can leave. >> Okay. Who are you staying with? Can we call them? Can you call them on your phone? >> My phone's right there. >> Cuz you're being difficult for no reason. If you just answer our question, we can get you to your room. >> Do you know how cold it is outside? If you don't cooperate with us, the hotel won't want you to be here, right? And then >> because right now everything's all good. I mean, >> we're trying to help you. >> If if you don't want to talk to us and don't want to help us, then then we're gonna have to kick you out of the hotel. >> Oh, that's great. Go ahead. >> The hotel wants to. We We don't. The hotel wants to. Unless you find your room, then you can go in your room. Otherwise, you have to leave. >> Are Are you understanding me? Do you speak Spanish? >> Sure do. Thanks. That's great. >> All right. You're fine. >> I know. >> Can you put on your shoes for me? >> No, I'm good. Thank you, though. >> Oh, okay. All right. That's cool. >> Is this your stuff? So then why don't you grab your stuff? >> Cuz we're not staying right here. >> Oh, that's weird. Go ahead. That's great. Thank you. >> The officers receive confirmation that the woman is indeed an unregistered guest. This gives officers the green [music] light to take the woman out of the hotel, but the woman has no intentions of making it easy for everyone involved. >> She's not registered here. >> Cool. Okay, >> got to go. Get up. >> Okay, >> let's go. >> No, I'm okay. >> Stand up. Do you want to get up or you want to Is there anything I could say or do to make you change your mind right now? >> No. >> Stand up. >> Why? >> Because you're not a registered guest at this hotel. And you are being trespassed from the hotel. >> Do you want to put your shoes on first or do you want us just to bring you and kick you out of the hotel? >> Stand up. Does she like stay here? >> She won't answer anything. No. >> Stand up. Okay. >> She doesn't want to make any phone calls, anything. >> I'll grab her stuff. >> Okay. Wow. Yep. We give you every opportunity. Not going to. We'll just drag you. Oh, >> you want to say no? >> No. >> Okay. >> Oh, >> there's a very easy way to do this. >> I mean, >> I mean, there's no reason. The woman was ultimately charged with criminal trespassing and resisting [music] arrest. Number one, police deal with a woman who keeps returning to a house she has no right to be in. On January 10th, 2025, officers were called to a residence after the property owner reported that a former squatter had shown up again despite being warned multiple times to stay off the property. When police arrived, they quickly realized this wasn't the first time they dealt with her and that today's encounter would be no different. >> Wake up. >> Okay. >> What's all your stuff? >> All my clothes right here. >> Okay. Gather your stuff up, Mary. Okay. >> You know you're not supposed to come back here. >> Well, I asked her if I could lay down cuz I was [ __ ] freezing. I was fighting. You believe what you believe >> because >> get your stuff. >> Why is it make people put women down? >> The woman believes she can simply walk off the property like she's done before. But with this incident happening repeatedly, that option is no longer on the table. >> Well, that was just rude. >> Well, then what I do? >> You're trespassing. You're not supposed to be here. Do you have anything illegal in your purse? >> No. >> Nothing at all? >> No. >> Nothing illegal on me in my purse or nothing? >> Okay. >> I don't break into people's houses and still and you know they had all my college records on it and everything.
