They thought grabbing a few items was harmless until the handcuffs said otherwise. Here are five cases when serial shoplifterss realize their scheme has been exposed. Number five, serial shoplifter returns for another trespass warning and another charge. On February 9th, 2024, officers responded to a grocery store where a familiar face had been caught once again, this time for shoplifting. Despite being trespassed from the property multiple times before, the suspect, identified as Heather, is back for more. The store's staff know her well, and now it's up to officers to step in and take control. Here's what happened next. >> Heather, come on. Let's go. What happened? >> What do you mean, what happened? You know you're not supposed to be here. You saw me come back in. >> I don't start soda. >> No, you're trespass. They don't want you here. Guys, leave me alone. I'm not. Get away from me. >> No, you're going to beat the team. >> I'm going to go. Huh? >> Well, you're going to get charged. Well, then write me a ticket. What does that mean? >> No, >> you're going to get charged. And every effort to keep things calm is tested as the situation begins to escalate due to her continuous resistance. >> Sit down. >> No, I'm not doing anything. Mom, >> sit down. >> I'm going to leave. >> Heather, I don't want to. No. Excuse me. >> Heather, come on. Heather, >> get away from me. >> Heather, get away from me. >> Get down, Heather. What do I do? >> You've been trespassed from here. I asked you. Let's just go outside to talk so I can do what we had to do. >> Then let's do that. That's what we did. >> No, you ran. Heather continues to claim she's done nothing wrong, but the female officer stays calm, aware that her behavior points to something deeper than simple non-compliance. >> You ran outside. >> Put your feet inside. >> Right now, can you sit right one second? Okay, I'll talk to you in a second. Okay. >> Thank you. >> I don't even know what at this point cuz >> Was it? No, cuz like >> I was just like jogging. I was like crew stop. Does anything hurt? >> No. >> Does anything bother you? >> No. >> No. >> No. >> Okay. >> You want to go? I mean, she's Wait a minute. It wasn't really like I didn't hit her. You can get that for us. >> Okay. So, >> she didn't want to talk. >> This is going to go out standing. Uh, can you run me through what happened? >> So, we got a call that um that she had two of our minis, which were these. >> Yeah, >> these right here. And um we watched her walk around. Um I seen her select >> this right here. She selected these two. And she was with another um Caucasian male that had this stuff right here. Okay. >> And they all they both went upstairs to women's lingerie. Um they were walking around active. She grabbed a few more items. Um they were both headed to the fitting room. They the ladies let them know that we don't allow males in the women's fitting room. So he did hand this stuff to her. Okay. >> She took this stuff in the fitting room. Of course I was in the fitting room next to her, worked it. She went out the fitting room. I checked the fitt room. There was nothing in there besides the hangers that were hanging up behind the mirror. >> Okay. >> Where she put them and um we watched her walk down. She walked through men a couple times, grabbed some more items, but left them at the register. Walked out north. Um, I let her walk out the first set of doors. She was getting ready to walk out the second set. I approached. I showed her my badge and everything. Um, I wasn't going to comfort at first until she was like trying to >> walk away. And I couldn't hold her in the stroller. So, I just let the stroller go. I grabbed her. I had her against the wall. She said, "Are you police?" I said, "I'm not police, but if you keep resisting, I will put the cuffs on you." And she started resisting. She pushed me right here. She pushed me back. And when she pushed me back, she kicked me in my stomach. >> Okay. >> That's when I got upset. Shayla came. Shayla came to help me and I grabbed her by her arms and I put her against the wall and we got her. >> Was the male with her at the same time or >> No, we lost him. We couldn't watch both of them. But I was >> What was the deal with the stroller? She had >> She had everything in the stroller. >> After speaking with the staff and confirming what happened, the officers approached the suspect to place her in custody. She quickly offers an excuse, hoping it might lessen the outcome. But no matter what she says, she'll still have to answer for what she tried to do inside the store. >> Cool. Hey, so uh I'm Officer Salt. You want to get squirrely with me? I'm gonna use reasonable necessary force. Right. >> I am the police. So, uh I'm gonna take these off here. Stay seated. Okay. You can stand up and face that wall for me. >> I'm pregnant. Okay. That's in. How far along are you? >> Nice. Congratulations. You want two set of cops or is one fine? >> Okay. So, I need you to listen to something while I do this. All right. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in a court of law. Do you understand your rights ma'am? >> Is that vertical head nodding? Yes. >> Okay. >> Why you guys want a knucklehead today? >> He's not. >> How do you know? >> You know what he's up to right now? Nothing. >> So, here's the deal. >> Uh, you probably committed a felony today. >> What I can tell is you don't go to court until you identify, >> right? So, you want to give me your name? >> No. Where's that thing at the jail? So, you Okay, that's fine. >> Yeah, she's gonna go. But that let's be clear that that guarantees you go to jail. You understand that, right? >> After making sure the suspect isn't hiding anything on her, the next step for officers is to go through her belongings for anything tied to the theft. >> Nothing in your bra, nothing in her pants hidden. >> Is that fair? Okay. Have a seat. >> All this is hers. >> Is there anything in here that doesn't belong to you? >> Or did they get all their stuff back? >> Okay. So, everything in these all this yours? >> No, absolutely not. You don't want to be cooperative. We're not going to be like I'm not going to make exceptions. First of all, you just told me you're you're pregnant. 614. I'm code for custody no more. >> What are you insane? >> What? >> You can say I'm pregnant. Can I have a cigarette? Yo, what's up? >> These were also honored from American Eagle. And the thing is foiled. >> Yeah. Yeah. For 100%. So, you know what I'm going to do now, right? I'm going to go to American Eagle. I'm going track this down. You don't get to come to my city and be a and expect me to not like turn over every stone to make your life as tough as possible, right? You can't come here and steal and expect us to like turn a blind eye to it. >> What's up? >> Okay, fair enough. [Applause] >> Um, you caused pain when you got kicked at all? at the time that I'm fine. >> Do you want to see the fire department or anything? >> No. >> Yeah, 100%. I can understand that. >> Yeah. >> So, just to make sure I understand, was the stuff in the cart or she was carrying it? It was It was in So it was in there with blanket over and then the um one item inside this purse. >> Okay. >> Okay. Cool. >> And then the two little mini perfumes are inside this purse. >> Okay. Sweet. >> I'll make sure. The suspect's first move is to appeal for sympathy, but the officers aren't having it. With almost $39 worth of stolen goods involved, there's no room for excuses. [Applause] Please, I'll talk to you outside. I just >> Okay. Yeah, you understand. I'm just going to give him your information at the end of this. So, hey, I just I'm like >> Yeah, I get it. Alderwood property includes the inside of the mall, the parking lot, and the roads that surround the property. If you return to the property today, you may be arrested for criminal trespass. Does that make sense? >> Okay. All right, ma'am. We're going to walk out. >> I'll come back for the stroll or we'll just do this in two trips. Go ahead. Unless you want to wheel it out. >> Yeah. >> Sweet. Oh, I apologize. You probably want the case number, too. >> Oh, yeah. >> Here's my card. >> It's 2024 dash 4897. >> Yeah. Thank you. Was >> she was trying to get away? >> Okay. >> So, I think she was trying to get away. I don't know cuz the stroller was sitting like if you watch when you see the video you'll see the stroller was just sitting in the middle of the floor like right in this area and I already had her in the corner and she was like are you the police and I was like listen I'm not the police but I can apprehend you and if you want to make it difficult I'll pull I'll cuff you and that's when she started getting resistant >> and she shoved me she shoved me from like cuz she was like this in the corner already >> and I already had her arms and she went like that so I the police officer >> the case closes with a suspect banned from the premis and charged with retail theft as well as battery on a security officer. Number two, mom and daughter think they can just pay after being caught stealing thousands worth of merchandise. This next case takes officers to a JC Penney where a routine day for store security quickly turns into a major theft investigation. On this call, two women were caught attempting to steal thousands of dollars worth of merchandise. By the time officers arrived on scene, the suspects were no longer roaming the aisles. Instead, they were already escorted to the store security office, detained by employees who managed to intervene before the women could make their getaway. Here's what happened next. >> Guys came with an empty purse >> like Halloween. >> Whose purse is this? Right. >> Do you have a Florida license? >> I don't know. >> Are you here on vacation? >> When are you going back to Jamaica? >> I didn't buy them every time with a kid. No, I know. The two suspects, however, appear to believe they can talk their way out of it. >> No, they're pressing charges. >> Who got the call? PBS. >> Oh, it was. Okay. >> Know sometimes we get theirs. >> Yeah. >> Be easier for me if they let you go. >> I was asking if I can escape, right? It is. >> What is your phone number? 20 million cameras in here. This must be on your own free will. Any statements can be and will be used against you in the court of law. [Applause] >> How old are you, Mrs. Brown? >> I'm 41. >> And you? >> Whose bad idea was this? >> Neither Mrs. Brown nor her daughter seems ready to admit what happened. Officers, however, can read between the lines. Two people, one empty purse, and thousands in stolen goods. Everything looks planned and probably not their first defense. >> Was it you, Mrs. Brown? >> Can I have that, please? >> You have anything in your bra, in your pockets? cuz if you bring anything to the jail, it's going to be >> the best place.
