What is your date of birth? >> January. >> I didn't ask you to spell January. I asked you what your date of birth was, sir. >> So, there's an investigation going on. >> Yeah. >> I just need to talk to you. >> No. Okay. I'm not suffocated. What's going on? >> I don't know the details of it. >> For these suspects, everything seemed to be going according to plan. Then officers got involved. These criminals find out undercover cops were playing them the whole time. man pretends to be cop at Walmart until real officers show up. On May 20th, 2022, officers responded to a Walmart after an employee reported being threatened by a man claiming to be a police officer. Here's what happened when officers came face to face with a man who insisted he was working undercover. >> How you doing? >> Stand by your I got hiding yesterday. >> Oh, you did? Yeah. >> All Jackson actually this morning. >> Yeah. You don't really have to have a dress. Unfortunately, business or >> somebody was following me. Uh I called said I was calling the cops on them and then they all suspicious and I said, "I'm calling the cops. I think they want to rob me." >> That was the uh picture. >> That was the security of Walmart. So, >> Oh, yeah. I don't think security though. >> They were. >> Okay. Well, I am saying I was going to call on him. >> Who you calling right now? I was my >> um and I ended up saying uh okay well I'm going to do this and have my friend call and um I left the store cuz I wasn't going to get anything. I was like okay. I was going to buy some stuff but no I'm not going to buy anything cuz I just keep following me. It's being weird. I don't want to get robbed again. I'm just going to walk out of here and go somewhere else. >> Am I calling them back? >> 213 fire. >> What? >> Are you on the phone with your friend? >> Yeah. >> Can you just give him a call back? >> Can Hey, can I call you back? Central Park. >> Uh, they still have a phone. >> Whatever. >> Yeah. You have any weapons on you? Gun signs. Bonukas. No. >> Knife here. >> Okay. >> But I don't do anything. >> What do you have underneath your shirt? >> It's a It's a little play vest with no place in it. So, it's good. >> I say DA. >> Doesn't What does it say? >> It doesn't. That's how you know. I said that yesterday to someone. >> What does it say? >> Parchment. This is crazy. >> Yeah. >> Good. Okay. I got it given to me two days ago as a gift from a homeless person. >> That's why it doesn't have any plates in it. >> Okay. >> So, >> all right. How do you spell your first name? >> As officers begin verifying the suspect's information, they discover the name he provided isn't his real one. >> Where do you stay at? >> Oh, you're homeless. Yeah. Here, let's let's move out of that street so you don't get uh hit. >> Yeah, that's the lady that was following you. The one the blue shirt right there. >> Yeah, she's >> I was in follow her. >> Yeah, she's in play of Walmart. >> My bad. >> All right, man. They just want you trespass. Not a big deal. >> I got this yesterday. >> What is that? >> Uh that's the same. I got robbed yesterday and that's the same uh case number. So, I don't know if I was supposed to be a while back. >> Did anybody contact you this morning? >> No. Uh, I just got my phone back. I literally just my >> Yeah. This morning when you're at Walmart, no like police stopped you at all. >> No. Have I been trespassed for a while? >> No. No, I'm not talking about trespass. I guess you were in here earlier, right? I was in here earlier and I was in here earlier to see because I wanted to see and I ended up talking to some girl >> which I thought so my for this and then um her name was Sandra Sandra Sasha something I don't know what it was and then I end up leaving and just saying oh I'm leaving and then I left but >> okay and then the other police couldn't tell me so they said they said my name come back but I'm like it it has >> Do you have is it out of Florida? Hey, I'm I am from Florida, but I don't have an ID or anything. >> Can you text us 51 out of Florida by name, date of birth? >> If we look it up, it's probably not going to come up. These three people did. Yes, three. She sheriff looked it up yesterday. It didn't pop up, but I don't know where my biological name >> uniform Lima >> got this morning. I'm not playing. >> Okay. So, you did get stopped this morning. >> Yeah, but it wasn't for this. I called them on the people. I was walking um over across the street over there. No, actually I can cross the bridge. I was across the bridge and I went over by Dunkin Donuts and then across the street from Dunkin Donuts got robbed for all my stuff and then that's when I called the people at Duncan or the cops. So, >> at this point, officers are simply trying to confirm the man's identity, but getting a straight answer proves easier said than done. >> He said, "Do I want my social security number? Can't help you. I don't know any of those numbers." >> You don't know? You don't know your social? >> I don't need to memorize this for nothing. And all this stuff's in my little card pack in my wallet that was in my little bag I always carry with me. Yeah. All my medical stuff, everything. But I don't know. I don't have all the stuff for it. >> So I always see the concern of wearing a vest whether it has place in it or not. >> Is that is that why they reported me cuz I had a vest on? >> Not even just that. Like I mean you're walking around getting people's face. It was like a vendor this morning accusing them of stealing your wallet. Like you know what I mean? That on top of the vest thing like >> that's happening around us right now. Like yeah, >> not just Florida, but like everywhere in nationwide, you know what I mean? That's it's a big concern. >> Yeah. >> Claiming you're a DEA agent, like what is that? >> I have all these people following me since a couple weeks a couple weeks. A couple days ago, a week and a half ago, two weeks ago, >> all these people just go where? Some reason they follow me. >> Why are you saying you're a DA? >> I didn't. I said I DA I was a DA one time. >> So you did? >> I did. >> Okay. >> And that was yesterday. And I was uh I was sitting down and it was about 10 people sitting there and I seen them over 20 times this day and I'm like what the you guys calling me for? They went they all kept looking away. She said, "Okay, bet." I looked at one of the ladies sitting down. I was like, "Hey, what what are you doing with your job?" >> And I thought I was a D agent, >> but that was about it. >> So, and then she said, "Oh, oh, wow." And then everybody just scattered >> and they stopped following me, which solved my problem. >> So, I didn't know who was illegal to >> Can I see that card with that case on it? So, you don't actually know your legal name? >> No. >> This is my I thought this is my legal name. >> Well, nothing's coming up. >> Well, then that's what they saying yesterday, too. I'm like, if something isn't that changed, then they changed it when I was younger, and I just been going since Paul Jackson ever since. So, I don't know what changed my life. Jackson Hall, not doing anything. I don't know. >> Have you ever been arrested before? >> Never in my life. Never been arrested. Nothing. It's funny cuz I I called y'all for the first time my entire life yesterday or this morning and then to help me. US me and then now he goes to come for me and it's like >> the conversation keeps circling back to the same issue with officers determined to verify the man's identity. >> This like you see you need to have something with your name on it like somewhere. >> I do but all my stuff got robbed of me yesterday. I keep all my important stuff in a bag. It all got taken yesterday and then I called you guys this morning at Dunkin Donuts. I called you. I'm telling you, if you guys go to the house, you guys have my ID and you know what the say you'll know what I am. >> What's the name or whatever something >> is that who took took my you know my real >> I don't if I'm sorry about know my actual thing cuz I didn't memorize my real name. That's not on there. That's what I have. That's what my name says. That's what it is. That's what I know as >> if you go there you would see all my stuff though. Cuz the problem that we're running into is that we can't, you know, positively ID, you know, identify you. >> Again, one, two, three, four, five, y'all. And only for trespassing. This isn't even getting arrested. It has to do with just a warning. So, >> there's only two of us in this car because um >> yeah, >> SUV over there. What we're going to do, we can't find you anywhere. So your bigger friend or department, two, the main head guy and they're trying to figure me and do all that. I told you I'm not wrong with me. >> Hey, can you do me a favor? Can you step over here in front of these bushes? >> You turn and face me. >> Do all this. >> Oh, get off the phone. Okay. I'm not going to ask you again. >> Hey, you're staying on speaker though. >> Yeah, I'm on the phone still. Hey, I'm at Walmart. >> I'm at Walmart. >> They're going to try and do something dumb to me like shoot me for no reason cuz I'm >> talking about, bro. >> No one's going to shoot you. >> Playing that garbage. >> Wait, stay on the phone. >> No one's going to shoot you, bro. Relax. >> Yeah, but are you okay? >> I know they're going to shoot me, man. You better >> No one's going to shoot. >> Y'all better come to Walmart, son. Rather than clearing things up, the suspect doubles down on the false identity. And from here, the encounter only becomes more difficult. >> Let me see that vest that you got. >> Is it the Is it the police? >> It's the police sheriff. If >> I would have done something or something, >> can you spell your first name for me? >> P A U L. >> Your middle name. What is it? >> Riley. My middle name. Riley. R I L E Y. >> Okay. Last name >> right here. >> Okay. Has her from what? Again, I haven't spoken with you. So, this is the first time. What is your date of birth? >> January. J A M U A. >> I didn't ask you to spell January. I asked you what your date of birth was, sir. >> 2001. >> Never had an ID or a license >> ever? No. >> No. See? No. >> Who was that on the phone? It's my mom. >> Oh, your mom? Yeah. >> Does your mom knew your social? >> No. >> Yeah. That's We're just trying to verify who you are. If you have a social or an ID card, even if it's expired from previously, it doesn't matter. We're just trying to make sure we can identify who you are properly. >> Is it okay if we speak? >> What? Can we speak to her? >> No. No. They don't. You don't want to talk to him, Mom? >> I'm just trying to confirm if it's him. you know. >> Yeah. >> Says violates probation, misdemeanor. Uh, looks like possibly a warrant, limited extradition. Go ahead and turn your hands off. Put your hands behind your back. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> I will not fight you. Don't shoot me. >> We're not No one's shooting you, man. No one's shooting me cuz you're giving us You're giving us a fake name >> and it's showing you have a bunch of warrants. So, >> okay. They arrest me right now, so might as well go to Thursday. Whatever. >> What are they for? >> Apparently, I have big warrants or big name warrants, whatever. What? >> I'm up here cuz they shoot me. >> I'm driving right now. Do you need me to do anything for you right now? >> Yeah. Come come to Walmart. >> I am, but do you need me to do anything? Is there any help? While his mother continues listening on the phone, officers keep trying to get the one answer they still don't have. >> Thing is, you're giving us a fake name. >> You're giving us a fake name. That's that's the first problem. >> Probably Probably because you probably because you have a bunch of warrants. You know, you do. That's all. >> And today misdemeanor. Simple misdemeanor. >> So, you knew that based to take care of them. That's it. You had a good run. Take care of him. I was trying to get back to Iowa before I took care of >> All right. Well, you didn't make it. >> Oh, this buddy thing. >> Yep. Not 17. >> I'm too tall to be in the seat forever, man. Come on. Just let me get outside and talk. Go somewhere. Listen, you want to talk to your mom? >> Yeah. >> All right. So, just relax, man. All right. I'm the commander on tonight. All right. >> Let me stick my legs out. >> We will in just a second. >> Just want to before I get you in the rain, I want to keep you out of the rain as much as possible. I want to ask you about earlier, okay? Because >> because people earlier, you had mentioned you were a DEA agent. I guess >> we're the same people from last night. That's what I'm telling you. These people are following me. They took my >> The complainant alleged that the suspect identified himself as a police officer. Now officers are giving him the chance to explain his side. >> If they're the same I said it to then that's how they would know. That's how I That's how it clicked my >> you talked to in at Walmart. This Walmart earlier today >> some thought stole my >> Okay. Was it you think it's the one that did? >> I think it's the one that legit stole my now yesterday. It's the I have the girl I have the girl's name who actually who actually did this. >> Okay. >> I used to stay with her. Her name is like Sanja Brum. So that she lives in trailer 69 and >> so you seen you seen this girl today and thought it was her. >> Yes. And she was had a little girl other girl with her and that looked just like her. Well, I thought she was one to steal my Well, it just so happened I did say that yesterday and I confronted the No, I confronted yesterday for following me. Her and her friends, she got like ring leader. She wanted to got everyone to start following me and do she made up lies this and that. Now they all hate me. They want to follow me. >> Okay. >> Now I yesterday Yeah. Yeah, I did. But today I confronted her. I'm like, "Yo, what is you doing?" D. She said, "Oh, you got why you get my face? I didn't get your face. I'm about two feet away from you. Check the camera." I'm telling you, >> you're talking a mile a minute, man. I'm trying to I want to make sure I get everything clearly. So, what exactly did you say yesterday? You're saying >> yesterday I was followed and I was trying to just tell and then these people came up to me and they looked like he was finally about to do something. So, I started talking to this girl next to me. Said, "Oh, hey, what do you do for work?" Oh, she was saying what she did for work. And then I said, "Oh, I got to do something." Uh-huh. Where was I? I I seen you over in, you know, Palm Coast where all these crazy people trying to come. Oh, yeah. Well, I'm from there. My mom's from LA. I was like, "Oh, oh, okay. Okay, okay, fine." So then after I said that, then I Okay, well, I'm a so and so and so. And then that's when everybody else just backed up and left me. And ever since then, they left me alone. But then this morning, they follow me back here, cut me off, and they took all my and then Yeah. Yeah. And then I tried to confront the my I was trying to call the cop, but I didn't have my phone. >> Mhm. >> And I just got my my phone the other day, like a little bit ago. >> Now, the officer asks the suspect one important question. >> So, was it the same girl from last night or wasn't it? >> The one I said that to >> the one in Walmart. >> I don't think I said it to that same one, but she might have been in the group of people with the people that heard me say that, >> but I didn't say it to her today. No. >> So, the girl the girl in Walmart today ended up not being the same girl from last night? >> I don't think I don't think so. >> Okay. All right. And she cuz the girl from the girl from today in Walmart said that you >> were a de agent or whatever too. So >> I mean obviously she ain't going to pull that out of her you know out of her butt. You know what I mean? That's like >> that' be pretty pretty random if you say to someone last night stranger. >> I think it was her cuz it would look the exact look up Sandre bunch of whoever the name is. If you do that you will see it's the exact same person as whoever that vendor is cuz the vendor name. She said her name was Tums Tsum. And I was like okay what the you won't tell me your name. She stuttered. He wouldn't tell me the reason I went after this girl to find out who she was is because I was walking through Walmart today, gives my And then I look over, the girl looks over at me, stares at me, >> goes and then hurry up and just runs away like it was nothing. Walks over, puts on all our gear and then goes about her day. >> Were you wearing the vest? >> I walk up to her. Yeah, but I always have the vest cover. I'm going to pull the vest out. >> So you had this over it, the shirt. >> Yeah, I always have this over it. I never just keep the vest out or >> I don't I don't show. >> Yeah, I figured you probably wouldn't. Yeah. >> But did you say like I'm DA? And like kind of like expose the vest a little bit. They asked about it. They said, "What? What? You off duty?" And I said, "No, I'm not off duty." But they must assume I was on duty or something. I didn't say nothing about DEA. Not today. Not no nothing to DA today. >> I don't have to say D8 to Walmart. I said DA to some people who were going to me about 30 people surrounding me >> last night. >> Yeah. Then that seems like there's other people other undercovers around me. So they'll come and help me out. So everyone just wants to back off. But if I didn't say that, I would have been done for because they were all sitting next to me standing up around me in a circle act like they was on some hot today. I wouldn't say I had no reason to. I just wanted to say, "Yo, >> cuz the girl today and said you did." I mean, she have no reason to lie. >> The conversation isn't over just yet as the officer makes one last attempt to get a truthful answer. >> I'm just trying to establish your credibility, man. Like, I don't, you know, I I think you've been fairly truthful aside from your name. Like, I don't just don't want to >> I just don't want to get the story wrong. So >> if you said it today, I just want to know so we can move on with this. >> I I do not recall saying it today. >> Okay, >> that is my thing. I I I do not recall. I I said it yesterday. >> Possible you said it today. >> Possible about 40 50 40 >> cuz I could tell you 100%. I didn't call myself a DA agent today. So I mean it's either yes or no, man. Like I >> I didn't say anything about DEA today. That's what I'm saying. I said it yesterday. So I don't know why it keeps coming up about today. >> All right. >> The same from yesterday. >> So she is the same one from yesterday. I think she is the same. You guys say she's not. >> I didn't say she was or wasn't. I don't even This is the first time I hear about something yesterday. >> I Okay. Yes, that was the same. My recollection that my best recollection that was the same girl from yesterday, the same girl that robbed me. The same girl that did all that. So, yes, I was going to go up and confront her. And yes, I was going to go up and what? So, I did not say anything about DA today, though. >> So, what happened when you confronted her today? >> Uh, I went up to her, uh, followed her. Uh, she tried to hide in the in one of the the shelving things and put her face in the carpet. You look dumb as standing in the corner doing nothing. Like, what? Get your iPad. Do something smart. I walked up to her and I was like, "Um, hey, you stole my wallet, didn't you? Last night." And she's like, "No, you don't even know what you're talking about." She stuttered though. She didn't say that at first. I said, "You stole my wallet, didn't you, last night?" And she looked at me like >> dumbfounded like how the I find her. >> And then I end up like, "Okay, okay." And then I I said, "Okay, well you got to come with me. Well, you got to go call the cops. We're going to see if we can get this figured out. If you're not, you can leave. I'll go. If you are, then >> so every everything you said is exactly what she said, too. Up to the point that when you confronted her, you told her like, "Hey, I'm DA agent. Like, I want my stuff back." >> Didn't say anything about DA. >> All right. >> Why do I say DA for if I want my back? I'm Da. >> Who's going to take a DA? People steal from the cops all the time. >> Yeah. Wish I could. >> The man was later charged with falsely impersonating a police officer and providing a false name to a law enforcement officer. Woman thought a fake check would help her get a Jeep. On February 13th, 2026, officers were called after a man reported that the buyer of his vehicle had allegedly paid him with a fraudulent check. Here's how he explains what happened. >> How can I help you today? So, uh, fun story. We sold I work for a dealership out of Riverview. >> Okay. >> Um, we sold a vehicle to an individual. Um, delivered it. It was all done over the phone, delivered it to an address in Port Charlotte. >> Okay. >> Where she picked it up, signed all the paperwork, gave us a check. >> Okay. >> Um, check turned out to be fraudulent. >> Okay. >> Um, so we are trying to retrieve our vehicle. >> Mhm. Um, so I need to submit a vehicle theft or report a vehicle. >> Okay. Um, it wouldn't be a theft because you guys gave them the vehicle in exchange, you know, for what you thought was an a check. >> So, we filed a a report with the Royal County Sheriff's Office. So, that's where >> that's where your office is. Okay. >> Um, and he he actually said it would be a theft because she brought to my attention. >> Mhm. It was a fake check. >> So, um, was her name on the check? Like, did the driver's license match the name on the check? >> She put it in, uh, her business name. >> Oh, she put the Jeep in her business name that she purchased. Okay. >> The check was made out to her business name. >> Okay. >> Um, we ran like a Sunbiz report and verified her name is associated with the business to make sure that all matched up. Okay. I've got in my email I've got popular driver's license, bill of sale. Okay. The check. >> So you've already filed like the fraud report with Hillsboro. Yes. >> So they took the initial report. Okay. >> They said because the transaction occurred in Charlotte County, we had to file it in Charlotte County. >> Of course they did. >> After explaining what happened, the seller points out a few things that didn't seem right during the transaction. generally meet at person's house, which >> there's a lot of red flags. Um, but she wanted to meet at Target because her story was she wanted to surprise her boyfriend. So, she wanted to meet close to her boyfriend's work so she can drive to her boyfriend's work. >> Which not true. >> So, how did you guys find out the check was fraudulent. >> We didn't realize that it was odd until we got a call from uh Sarasota dealership. >> Okay. >> That this lady had purchased a vehicle from them. Okay. Sunday doing the same thing. >> She went up there, >> gave him the same check. I have a copy of that check. Looks exactly like the one we got. >> Um, so he called us when she pulled up cuz she bought it on Sunday. >> He called her. He was like, "I think there was a problem with the payment. Can you come come back and and talk this over?" He saw that she was driving the vehicle that she purchased from us. He was like, "That seems suspicious." he was able to find out that she bought it from us and he called us and he was like, "Hey guys, um, did you sell this lady vehicle?" We're like, "Yeah." He's like, "So did I, yada yada yada." And we're like, >> "Okay, so something sketchy." He's like, "Absolutely. Yes. Trying to figure it out." And then I got confirmation this afternoon that the check did in fact um, >> not back. >> Okay. Did she So, how much was the check for? Did she like >> 53,000? >> 53,000. Okay. >> 53,382 or something. >> 82. Okay. The investigation soon takes officers to the suspect's home where she's caught off guard by their arrival. >> I'm Detective Richardson with the Charlotte County Sheriff Office. >> Can I assume this is regarding the Honda? >> Yeah. I just have some questions for you. >> Yeah. What's up? >> So, can you come out and talk to me and tell me what's going on with that? >> Yeah. I mean, nothing's really going on. I bought a CH. So, it's I have a case. Okay. The money is in a protected account and they got a check that says like check with sender, not like not like a a block check. So I literally have given them proof that I'm just letting the bank release it. No one's talked to me. Zan like I have been I texted the deputy last night, the the sheriff. They they literally I had to go to the hospital for a panic attack over it because I literally like I got cornered like tell us how you got this money. Like it's a very sensitive subject to get money over a very long settlement, you know. >> All right. Are you willing to give me a swarm recorded statement? >> What? >> Are you willing to give me a >> I am not giving a recorded statement while I'm heavily like that's I'm not even coherent right now. You know what I mean? >> Okay. >> I can come in and give a recorded statement. Um I just don't think like Yeah, I can give >> Where do I have to go to give a recorded statement or can you do it right here? Well, we prefer to do it at the sheriff's office. Not >> I literally have We just moved here. I have my dogs. I have no problem giving a statement, but um >> you have something showing where this this check was cleared or that there's funds inside the account. >> What >> do you have something showing that the check was cleared or that you had funds? >> The check isn't cleared. It's preunded, but it's like the bank pulls money to generate the check. But yeah, I've sent them all of that. I've sent them the proof. I've sent them to communication with the bank that the money was there. >> The woman insists the check has already been taken care [music] of, but it quickly becomes clear she's talking about a completely different vehicle. Officers, meanwhile, are asking about the Jeep Wrangler. >> Son, too. What What dealership are we talking about? >> The ghetto. >> What car are you talking about? >> The Honda? >> No, we're here for the Jeep. >> The Jeep? >> Yeah, we're here for this beautiful green Jeep sitting right behind me. >> Oh, so it must be the same thing. Um the same the check the same thing. >> Okay. >> Yeah, it must be the same thing. Um no one's reached out to me about the Jeep though. >> So don't no one at the dealership has reached out to you. >> No, I've been I talked to the guy yesterday and no one has said anything about the Jeep. >> Who'd you talk to yesterday? >> The owner. >> You know his name? I don't know these people. That's why I'm asking. >> No. Uh he was saying that he had the wrong tire and he gave me the wrong charger so to come grab it. Yeah. No one has said anything to me about the Jeep. Well, that's the case that I'm investigating. >> I know. >> Um, but it must be the same thing. I did get an email today for the Jeep, though. Uh, that says the same thing, like we need to verify the check. Uh, not verify the check, uh, you need to manually release the check from my bank. >> Your bank sent you an email? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, what was the issue with that? >> So, it's just a protected account. It's It's like a uh It's a manual verification to make sure it was me releasing doing the check like >> Yeah. >> All right. >> So, no one has called I'm like shocked actually cuz I haven't even met talked to the guy at all. >> Why wouldn't he text me, you know, or call me and say that? >> Well, I've been trying to get a hold of you. >> He has not. I literally have my phone. >> Okay. >> I guess though, uh cuz we're in the middle of moving. This is registered to my business. >> Okay. Um, how did you I'm so confused. Like, I literally just moved here. >> What are you confused about? >> Cuz it's registered at the business address. >> Okay. But you were the one who purchased the vehicle. Correct. You provided all your information. >> Yeah. Well, yeah. I just I'm I'm shocked. I just I'm just confused cuz I haven't heard from him at all. Like, I literally have my phone. Uh I checked it right before you guys got here. Like, who's at my door? Am I expecting someone? I have no missed phone calls, nothing. The officers waste no time correcting what [music] she just told them. >> Well, they claim they've been trying to reach out to you since he did the transaction on Tuesday. They got >> cheap. >> Yes. >> I literally can show you a text message with him yesterday where he he me he didn't say anything. >> If you want to show >> Yeah. He even said yesterday at 6 p.m. 6 p.m. I have a few things to do tomorrow, so I may not be able to come in later in the day. I have five different shop I have the shop guys with five different chargers for you. Oh, for the electric charger. >> He's going to show me my sister. >> Yeah, this is with the dealership. >> What's the phone number that you're getting text from? Because, like I said, they say they've been reaching out to you. And who are you speaking with there? >> The the person who I facilitated the whole entire deal with, >> which is whom? I don't know who. >> I don't know. Uh, whoever answers the main phone number. Uh, I don't know his name. Uh, but >> So, you essentially purchased this online or did you go into the dealership? >> They brought it to me. >> But how did the transaction transpire? Uh, I said I've been like I signed the paperwork when they brought me the car and I >> But you never physically went into the car. >> No, it's in Tampa. >> Okay. All right. >> But yeah, if you want to see uh >> Is your Honda here, too? >> No. Um, it's a business card. These are for business the business. But yeah, he literally >> You have a screen protector. It's hard to see. >> Oh, sorry. He literally texted me last night. >> Okay. And you just have it as Jeep Depot. >> Yeah. Is it reported as stolen? Like, can I drive it? >> The Jeep? >> Yeah, >> it's not reported as stolen. Oh, >> okay. >> So, that's just you initially contacting them about the Jeep. >> Yeah. And this is our conversation yesterday. Like, I haven't gotten anything. >> No phone calls from anyone else from Jeep Depot? >> No. I um get spam calls all day, but no, I haven't gotten my last phone call. I haven't gotten anything. I'm scroll. This is from like 12:05 p.m. and not a single phone call. The woman keeps explaining what happened, unaware that officers have already pieced together much of the investigation. >> Okay. >> And I texted the him today. Actually, my last reply to him was this morning at 9 uh 9:12 9:12 a.m. That doesn't sound good cuz he texted me last night. I didn't reply. >> All right. >> Just give me a moment. Let me make a phone call to the dealership. I'll be right back with you. >> Okay. On March 27th, 2026, [music] officers head back to the same residence after confirming key details in their investigation surrounding the $53,382 check she used to purchase the Jeep Wrangler. >> Hi. >> Hello. How are you? You had a 911 hangup for this address? >> I've been sick. >> You have? Oh, so you didn't accidentally call? No, literally I am wicked sick right now. I've been asleep. No 911 hang up. >> Okay. You don't have any injuries or anything like that? Do you mind if you come out to the to the door so I can check you real quick? >> Yeah. >> Your dogs up? >> Yeah. >> Okay. You don't have any injuries or anything like that? >> No. >> Okay. You have a package there? >> Yeah. >> You want to come around here? >> No. I I'm What's going on? >> Huh? >> I don't know who would call 911. >> Well, it just came from this address. I want to make sure everything's okay. >> Oh, no. I'm fine. There's no one else here. It's just me. >> Okay. >> Yeah, >> I got you. You don't have any injuries. I don't see the back of you or anything like that. Okay. >> No injuries. Yeah. >> Okay. Can you come step out for me? >> Why do I need to step out? >> I need to talk to you about something. >> Okay. What's going on? >> There's I just need to talk to you. Okay. >> I'm not stepping outside. What's going on? >> So, there's an investigation going on. >> Yeah. >> I just need to talk to you. >> No. Okay. I'm not stepping outside. What's going on? Well, I don't know the details of it. >> Okay. Is it a warrant? >> Huh? >> Is it a warrant? >> Not yet. >> Okay. What's going on then? >> I don't know. I don't know the details of it. >> So, what do you need me to step outside for? >> Huh? >> What do you need me to step outside? >> I'll talk to you. >> Yeah. The dogs are barking and everything like that. I don't >> I don't feel comfortable stepping outside. I am half asleep right now. What's going on? >> Okay. So, do you want to talk to my sergeant real quick? >> Yeah, I can talk. >> Hi. >> Hi. >> Now, the officers begin walking the woman through the reason why they're back at her doorstep. So, here's the deal. There's an investigation conducted, okay? And I'm not going to lie to you, okay? I don't want to lie to you. I don't want to give you anxiety or treat you any kind of way, but there are active charges right now for you. >> For what? >> For I believe it's scheme to defraud. >> What? >> Scheme to defraud. >> Okay. For who? >> For you? >> No. No. For what? >> I guess something involving a vehicle. >> I don't know the exact >> Okay. I don't know the exact stuff with that. Okay. >> So, you probably know more because you already maybe spoke to a detective or or something like that. >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. So, with that being said, we've got to place you into custody because you're under arrest for those charges. >> Okay. Does that make sense? >> Just can it be any other day? I have to find a dog sitter and stuff right now. Like, >> so here's here's what I will do for you, okay? Because you're being cool with me right now and I appreciate it. We can work out right now getting a dog sitter and everything for your dog. No one can drag you in jail and be mean to you. Okay? We can work out some phone calls out taken care of. You will have a bond hearing in the morning. You're not going to jail to stay in jail. [laughter] That's not how it works. Okay? So, I'm trying to >> calm you down with how this all works. As long as the dogs have food, water, tomorrow morning, you see a judge, you get a bond. >> Okay? You should be able to get out. Yes, they should because unless you have some crazy criminal history, which I don't think you do, and based on what I've seen, you should be able to get out, which means you will have no issue. You're allowed to use a phone when you're there. It's not like you're getting thrown in a, you know, all that. >> So, we can work all that out as long as you cooperate with us cuz we're being we're being cool with you. We're being honest with you, but we can't help where that's at. And we had nothing to do with that. That was a detective and investigation has nothing to do with us. We're an apprehension unit. We come out, we make contact with people, and we [snorts] serve the charges. Right. Okay. Yeah. No, it's frustrating because I've been trying to deal with that. I essentially um I got it's a long story, but yeah, >> I I get it. I know there's probably a lot to it and we don't know anything about it. It's on our investigation. So, we're not picking on you. We just came here because you were next on the spot of people we come to check on. I mean, so that's where we're at. >> We have to go behind you back. All right. >> Mhm. >> The arrest comes to a quiet end as the woman is transported to the station. Just put your palms together like you're praying and put them in inward. Like it's going to be There you go. It's going to be the easy. I'm telling you, this will be the easiest on your wrist here. >> No, I just had surgery on my wrist. So, >> well, I won't put them on tight. Is that good? >> Yeah. I just mean they're not flexible like that. >> Oh, okay. Got you. Well, then put them however you however you want. >> You want it like that? >> Yeah. >> All right. >> Is that going to be okay? >> Yeah, that's fine. >> Let me hold on. Let me lock it so they don't tighten up on you then. >> All right. Hey, I'll get air flow for you as we get moving here. >> Thank you. >> Well, I didn't get to check you. Is there anything on you I need to know about? Because you don't >> I'm naked under the >> Cuz I don't want you to get charged. I'm stupid. So, >> I have don't even have a bra or underwear on. I >> All right. The investigation later resulted in the woman being charged with grand theft, schemed at a fraud involving more than $50,000 and obtaining property with a worthless check over $150 when a police officer becomes the one under arrest. In our final case, deputies with a Monroe County Sheriff's Office pull over a driver for speeding. Here's what happened. You >> driving too fast, buddy? Third time. Yeah, man. >> Third time. 16 to 45. Yeah, I know. But um I'm just hitting. I just dropped her off. So, >> stand by. >> No, you're good. >> You've been drinking, man. >> Uh not like that, but uh dropped on her mouth, but you know. So, >> all right. You got your driver's license on you? >> Yeah. >> That's yours, >> huh? >> That's yours. >> What? >> The the bottle. I mean, yeah. I mean, that that's it's in the car, so I mean, it's just me and my daughter. Go home. >> All right. Stand by, man. >> Hello. >> How you doing, Sergeant? >> Good. >> Hey, I'm out with uh Deputy Rojas. He's got a a open container, a bottle in the front seat. Appears to be intoxicated. Eyes are shot. >> All right, I'll get dressed now. >> All right, buddy. Hey, will you step out from me, buddy? >> Yeah. All right. >> With a driver now outside the vehicle, the officer wastes no time asking him one important question. >> How you doing, man? How much you have to drink tonight, man? How many How much you got to drink tonight? >> Not a lot. All right. >> Not a lot. >> All right. You You can do what? Whatever you got to do. >> Okay. I'm just going to stand right there. Uh got to wait on SARS to come and uh yeah. So where are we drinking at? Miami uh downtown Key West Broward. I'm asking you a couple questions. I need you to answer that, >> man. I know. Okay. >> I got to I got to ask you these questions like where were you drinking at? Like you say you had a couple drinks. Where at? >> Well, I didn't say I had a couple drinks like that. Okay. I said that's my bottle. That's what I said. Okay. >> But when you came out the car, you told me you had a couple drinks. What you said? >> You said you say I'm be honest with you. I I've been drinking a little bit. >> Okay. I'm not going to be dis disinging with you. Okay. >> Yeah. >> So, all right. All right. That was it. I just dropped that Alina off. Okay. All right. So, all right. So, what we're going to do is since I got him here, we just like we're going to go ahead and get started. We're going to do a signal one investigation. Are you okay with uh doing feel my belief that you're under influence? Okay. >> All right. So, uh just let me move my car. He's going to stand with you right here. We're going to just do it. Uh >> okay. >> If I deem that you are not >> Okay. All right. Just stand with him. >> You want to wait for for a sergeant to come here or no? >> Yeah, but I have backup so I can go ahead and do the field exercise. when he come then you'll have it spilled. >> The officer now starts the field sobriety test. >> Let me just read it to you like like a regular person. If I just going to stand right there. >> Yeah. Stand right here towards me. All right. You just want to stand with feet by your hands by your side. >> Feet right beside each other. >> Mhm. >> Feet. All right. >> Thank you. Feet. Okay. All right. So, what we're going to do is like I said, we're going to do some feel body exercises. Just my belief that you're under influence. Uh, so the first one we're going to do is, like I said, it's called HGN. What I'm going to do is I'm gonna check your eyes. I'm just gonna ask you a couple questions before we get started. Okay. >> All right. All right. So, exactly what I'm going to do is, like I said, I just want you to follow the tip of my pen. Top of the pen. >> I'll scoot you up a little bit. >> Want you to follow the tip of the pen with your eyes only, not with your head. The first one I'm going to do, I'm going to move it. Hey, just listen to me. First one I'm going to do, just going to see if your eyes equally track. Okay. Okay. All right. So, at this point in time, like I said, you going to follow the pen the whole way. Not with your head, only with your eyes. Okay. >> Mhm. With that out of the way, the officer has the driver perform the walk and turn test. >> All right. So, we're going to do the next exercise. Okay. What I'm going to have you do is I'm going to have you stand on that line right here. Stand right here, bro. All right. All right. You're going to face this way. Okay. All right. You're going to have both of your feet by your side. You're going to have your hands by your side. You're going to follow the direction as it tell you to. Okay. Want to read it exactly from the paper so it's no mix up. Okay. All right. When I ask you to, I want you to put your left foot on the line and I want you to put your right foot in front of it. Okay? With your heel touching heel to toe. Okay? With your hands by your side. Okay? >> All right. Do you understand? >> Yep. >> All right. When I tell you to do two, I want you to take nine heel to toe steps. Okay? I'm going to demonstrate by doing three. Okay? >> So, this is exactly what you're going to do. I want you to watch me and I want you to stand in that position while I'm doing this. Okay? >> All right. So when I tell you to do so, you're going to take nine heel to toe steps. I'm going to do three for you. Okay? So you're going to do one, two, three, and so forth. Okay? When I tell you to do, you going to make small series of taps to turn around. Okay? And then you're going to do three more heels. So step back now. One, two, three. Okay? Do you understand? >> Yep. >> All right. So I'm going to read the rest of the instructions and I'm going to ask you to do it. Okay? >> Okay. >> All right. While walking, I want you to watch your feet at all times. Keep your hands at your side. Count your steps out loud once. begin. Do not start the exercise until I tell you to do so. Okay. Do you understand these instructions? >> I do. >> All right, bro. You can begin. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9. The officer has seen enough to know the driver is struggling, but there's still one last test to complete. >> All right, so we're going to move on to the last exercise. Okay, I'm going to have you just stay right there. Okay, put your feet by your side. All right, hands by your side. Okay. >> All right, the last exercise called the one leg stand. Okay. >> Yeah. >> All right, I'm going to read the instructions verbatim off the paper. Okay. >> Yep. >> All right. You're going to stand with your heels together and your arms at your side. Okay. >> Okay. >> Do not begin the exercise until I tell you to do so. Okay. Do you understand? >> Yep. >> All right. When I tell you to, I want you to raise one leg approximately six inches above the ground. Okay? >> All right. >> It's gonna be your feet needs to be parallel to the ground, just like this. Okay? It's going to be 6 in above the ground. Your hands going to be at your side. You're going to look at that foot the entire time while you're counting out loud. You're going to count 1 1 2 100 3 100 and so forth. Okay? Until I tell you to stop. Okay? >> All right. When I tell you to begin, you're going to while holding that position, you're going to count out loud in the following manner. 1 2 100 3 100 so forth. Okay? Yep. >> Do you understand these instructions? I do. >> All right. Do you got a phone on you or anything? >> At this time, you may begin. >> 1,002 1,003 1,004 1,005 1,006 1,00 7. Okay. >> All right. What I'm going to have you do is the next exercise, you're going to step to the vehicle. Okay. Like I just what we have to do. Listen, you're impaired. You're under the influence. You understand that you're an officer yourself. I don't want Listen, I I I hate to have to do this to you, bro. But I I I wish you would have made a better decision tonight, bro. >> Okay. It's just something that we have to do. We're law enforcement. You know that. I know that. I need you to step to the car. Come on, buddy. >> Just Just Okay. We're going to figure out what what you going to do with your daughter. If you want your your your girl to come pick her up, whatever. Like I said, this is something that we >> call my father. >> Okay, let's let's let's get you to the car first. Let's go ahead and get this taken care of. You know the process. Come on now, Ros. Come on, bro. >> Come on. Come on, man. >> That's fine. It's fine. >> The evaluation comes to an end, and before long, the driver is placed in handcuffs. >> All right. Let me see. >> Bro, you ain't have nobody that can come down. >> No, I don't. >> If you would have told me, bro, I would have came and pick you up, bro. Seriously. Like >> I I've not seen >> just sit tight, right? >> I'm sitting there. I'm doing my report and then he comes past me. He like he's going at a high rate of speed. I had to go up like 75 to catch up. So I'm like, "Okay, this car is going too fast." I stop him. >> I come to the vehicle like I'm talking to him and I just smell the alcohol. >> Where were you at? You were back. >> I was at the 22 inside of the bus lane. >> Okay. Right there in the middle. Yeah. So, and I'm saying he's coming past me going fast. He shook my car. That's how I That's how I looked up and I was like, "Okay, I don't know. I know what car this is." I come up there. I'm like, "Okay, this is where I dig. I know it's I come up to the car. I see the bottle in the front seat. He smells alcohol. His eyes are like I'm just like, so that's when I called you cuz I I knew he was like cuz told me that he was driving home and that he was impaired and that what you call it was driving him." Yeah, I remember y'all mentioning the station number. So that was what? So they were coming southbound. >> They was coming southbound, but it was somebody else driving him. It was his girlfriend that that was driving him. And then like I >> What time was that at? >> That was probably like an hour from now. >> Cio was like I just pulled him over. Yeah. Ciao was like he pulled somebody over at the 33. He said it was Rohos and that his girlfriend was driving him going southbound. And I >> It was a girl in the car at the time or you little girl in the car at the time? It was just him and his daughter in the car. >> No, I'm talking about way southbound, you know. >> Uh, I don't know. Yeah. >> Now, all that's left is for the officers to wrap up the encounter. >> I know. That's what Castillo told me. Got you. I got you. Give me uh give me a second. That way we get this figured out if Hey, good job. Do your job. You know, it's not no different. Okay. >> Yeah. Can I give her the phone to go on YouTube and all until she gets up here? >> Who? >> Your little girl. >> Who's picking her up? at Adelina. >> Yeah, that's fine. >> Who I mean who else is there? >> My parents, but they're sleeping and they're probably for me. So, >> well, I mean, I want to make sure where where your parents live in KO. >> Yeah, but I just >> Where they live at? >> No, they live in Ramrod, but I'd rather have just Adelina picked. >> I'd rather Adelina picked. >> Okay. But you okay if I give it to her like is there like game plays on the phone or no? What do you need? Can you just pick Was she on the phone now or No, >> I had to call her back. >> Just Just call her real quick. >> Hello. >> Hey, mama. Can you just >> Baby, I'm coming. Um, if can you come with somebody so they can come and they can pick up the car, too? >> Yes. >> I don't care where it goes. I just as long as it gets picked up. >> Okay. >> Um, >> but listen, that Listen, but we're not going to be I'm not trying to be disrespectful or nothing like that, but this has this has to be done within 30 minutes. >> Okay. I'm I'm on my way, sir. >> Yeah. But how who you going to bring with you to pick to get the car? >> I'm about to call my dad. >> Okay. All right. That that number you that that number I gave you. Just call that one. Okay. >> Okay. >> Where's my mother? >> It also isn't the driver's first runin for speeding as officers learned this is his third speeding offense. >> So, should I give her the phone to go play or what do you what do you want to do? >> Um can can I have my wallet and just take the phone with me too? Um if that's what you I'm I'm sorry I can't hear you right now. >> I know. I understand. Like I said, I just want her to go and have something to be occupied with. I I know you want to go with take it with you. So, I'm just going to go and I'll take care of her here. Is there like a bottle or formula or anything like that or No, >> no, she she's almost five.
