Clocking in, stealing on the job, and thinking they could walk away clean. These employees were in for a rude awakening. Here are four cases when employees steal before massive surprise. Number four, he was quietly pocketing money at work. Then the police showed up. On June 7th, 2022, officers were dispatched to a gas station in Florida after reports surfaced that an employee [music] had stolen more than $1,000 from the registers. [music] What follows is a revealing conversation with a store manager. >> I got a cashier here. Short $1,400. >> Short $1,400 bucks from yesterday. >> Yeah. I was about to go show him video of um where I seen where he he's moving the money around, but you know, I can't I can't physically see him sticking it in his pocket, but I can see what he's doing. So, I just want to get a feel when I talk to him if he's I'm pretty sure he'll confess to it. >> One second. Do you have the video pulled up somewhere >> [snorts] >> Did you put it under there? >> No, you put inside. It started out doing okay. I don't know what happened. See, there's like punch and stuff. >> See where he puts it like right there? He's trying to >> Yeah, it's sticking out still. >> Is that Is that the only >> Those are the only two angles I got. See how it's like >> But is that that the only time you seen him pull money out on camera? >> Yeah. Well, he's doing it throughout the day like like during the night and stuff like he's taking the big bill. He's pushing him underneath the 20s and then that was the first like where you could see him actually like remove it but later on in the night he's doing it too. >> With the footage playing back the manager recounts the moment she realized something was wrong and shares more about the suspect behind it all. >> What is that? 809 that was yesterday. Do you know where this guy used to work or? >> Um, no. He I know he had a second job. We're not sure where. He hasn't been with us that long. Um, he's worked here before. I've never had issues as far as something like this. It was just I I thought maybe I miscounted my money out this morning and know everything verified. But then loss prevention had um loss prevention had called me then and just mentioned this to me and I just went digging a little deeper. Pause this real quick. Obviously, I have to read him his Miranda warnings before we really dig into any questions. And if he doesn't want to talk to me about it, that's fine. Cuz pretty much if he invokes his rights, I can't use anything >> against him that you guys discuss. I'll probably end up actually stepping out for that. >> I I can do that for right now. So, Huh? >> You good? >> Yep. >> Hi, Bubba. I'm Corporal Baker with the sheriff's office. Okay. >> All right. What's your name? >> Aquarius. >> Aquarius. All right, cuz obviously we're dealing with a crime here. I'm going to read you your rights. All right. >> After the officers get a gist of the situation from the management [music] side, they now confront the suspect to get his side of the story. >> Listen closely. If you have any questions, feel free to stop me and ask me, okay? All right. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. You have the right to talk to a lawyer and have him or her present with you while you are being questioned. If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, one will be appointed to represent you before any questioning if you wish. You can decide at any time to exercise these rights and not answer any questions or make any statements. Okay. Do you understand each of these rights I've explained to you? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Having these rights in mind, do you wish to speak with me? >> Uh, yeah. >> You you you are good with speaking with me? >> Yes, sir. >> So, what's going on? What? What happened? >> Yeah. >> You having some hard times? Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> You just graduated in your honor. >> Have you ever been in trouble before? >> I mean, it's not a good way to to start graduating. You graduated this year? >> Yes, sir. >> 20 2022. How old are you? >> 18. >> You're 18? That's big boy. You know, you're an adult, you know, and unfortunately when when you make decisions like this, they have repercussions and some of them are legal and will stick with you forever. Okay? But if you're having a hard time, there's uh corporations, there's other business or I wouldn't say businesses, but like churches and government assistant that can help you. You know what I'm saying? But now you kind of put yourself in a in a in a a tough spot. Do you know how much money you took? >> Roughly 600. >> 600. What if I told you they're short $1,400? I mean, you're pulling out of the 20s and the hundreds. So, you know, you know, anything over $750 is a felony. tries to explain his situation, mentioning how tough things have been lately. But the officer quickly redirects the conversation to the real issue. Where's the money? >> And we got you on camera taking money out of the out of the till 1,400 bucks and missing. So guess what? That's grand theft. Not only Not only I mean unfortunately you're probably going to go to jail. Okay? So, not only are you going to go to jail, you're going to have a criminal history now and documentation that you stole from an employer. Do you still have the money somewhere or did you already spend it? >> Huh? >> You already spent it? >> Yes, sir. >> What did you spend it on? >> How much is your insurance? 176. What else did you buy? >> That's really closed. >> All your clothes are gone. >> Yeah. >> Why are they gone? >> Huh? >> Well, if you just bought it. I mean, this happened yesterday, bro. So, you're telling me you you spent 1,400 bucks in one day and you can't account for majority of it? I mean, come on, bro. I mean I mean, at this point, you're caught, you know? I don't need you to just give me the runaround about it now. So, what'd you do with the money? >> Shoes. >> What kind of shoes? >> How many pairs? >> One pair. How much were those? Those are like >> 400. >> Okay. >> You bought them online? >> No, I bought them from somebody else. >> Oh, you bought them from someone else. >> So, you spent 400 bucks on some shoes. >> You bought those shoes with the money? >> How much did those cost? >> So, >> so you buy 800 bucks worth of shoes? The officer calls out a clear contradiction in the suspect's statements, but offers him one final opportunity to tell the truth. >> Okay, so there we go. We're going to backtrack a little bit. You told me you think you stole you took 600, but now you're telling me that you spent 800 bucks in shoes. Thank you. More shoes. Look, I mean, you got caught, but if you you're honest with me now, you know, I'm gonna I'll document that in my report that you're honest with me. You're very forthcoming with the information. You weren't me around. I'll go ahead. I'll erase the previous lies. Okay. So, so you spent 800 bucks on shoes or did you buy more shoes? >> I actually spent more than last. Okay, >> I'm be honest. I spent a lot of money on these. >> Okay. How much? >> I paid seven. They're not installing from somebody else. >> So, 700 bucks for one pair. >> And then I >> five for the other pair. >> So, if my math is correct, that's 1,200 bucks just in two pairs of shoes. Okay. Are you actually struggling or I mean I can understand I can have some empathy if you stole money to put food on your on your table or put clothes on your back or if you have a kid put food on your kids' back or in your kids's belly. But right now you you're telling me you spent 1,200 bucks on some shoes. I have a hard time spending 200 bucks at the grocery store. You know what I'm saying? >> With nowhere left to hide, the suspect confesses and directs the officer to the rest of the stolen funds. >> So, you spent 1,200 bucks on two pairs of shoes. What else? >> You've been buying food all day. So, how much have you how much >> this morning? >> Do you pay for all your friends, too? >> Yes, sir. So about how much do you think that was? >> 100 bucks. I'm sorry. 200 bucks. So that's 1,400 bucks right there. So then it was at came out to 1485 is what what they're short. All right. So So you you probably spent that in the in the food and the and the gas. So, so I I'll just put remainder with food and gas. 2618 E56 me here in Nakati for transport. >> So I guess like I said, you're probably going to go to jail. Okay. So um I mean there's no way around it, but I'm going to document that you were honest with me. All right. Um, I if if I could help you out, I would try I would do everything I could to help you out on not taking you to jail. >> But at the end of the day, I have a job to do. Okay. >> I'm sorry. >> You pro you you'll get a bond. You'll be able to bond out or if you have someone to bond you out. Now that everything's out in the open, the officer walks the suspect through what will happen next. >> I I couldn't tell you. It could be anywhere from 120 bucks to 500 bucks. >> Then you just sit in there. Is that your car outside? You have anybody that you trust enough to come pick your car up? >> Yeah, >> you do. Where's your phone? >> They're probably not going to want you to leave it here and they're probably going to want to trespass you from the store. I haven't got that far yet, though. Honestly, bro, like like I said, if I if I could help you out in this situation, I would because you're 18 years old. You made a stupid stupid decision. You know, you're just starting your life out. You know what I'm saying? Everybody up here and there. And you know, if I had the choice not to to hinder you right now, I would take it. But like I said, I got a job to do. You know, I'm sure your managers and and your employees don't want to see you getting in trouble either, but that like like me, they got a job to do, you know, and as the it's a corporation that you're working for. It's a company you're working for. So, just give me a second. Okay. >> For I guess like my question of you want him trespass answers my other question which he was going to ask if he could just leave his car there until he got out but if he's trespassed from the property but if you're going to allow him to come pick his car up >> now that the green light's been given the officers proceed to take the suspect into custody. >> You're okay with him leaving it here? >> That's fine. I won't get it. But but after he picks his car up, he's not okay. All right. So, she said uh you can leave your car here. All right. But you are going to be trespassed from the property. But what what we just discussed is you'll be allowed to come pick your vehicle up, but then after that, you're not allowed to come to this property. All right. >> That's what I'm saying. You'll be allowed to come get your car. You'll be allowed one time to pick your car up. Keep your ID and your wallet with you and then Oh, I'm I'm >> somebody else come pick up. >> All right. Thank you. >> I'm going to go to this pickup truck passenger side. >> That pickup truck passenger side. I'mma fold this up and put it in your pocket. Okay. >> Anything on you? Shouldn't have >> no weapons. Nothing can [ __ ] protect me. I got >> I got him. The case ended quickly when it was revealed that the suspect stole $1,400 from the gas station, enough to warrant a grand theft charge. Number three, man stole from a children's donation box and got exactly [music] what he deserved. On February 21st, 2025, officers arrived at a local convenience store after receiving a troubling report involving an employee who was suspected of stealing from donation funds meant for [music] a children's hospital. Here's what happened when officers stepped in. >> Hello. Thank you. >> Um, so like we had uh we had a promo going on for like the past couple of months uh uh to donate money to the children's hospital. So every time uh we have every time a customer hits with their um transaction, they have a choice on the uh we uh they have a choice to give us cash. So on our register part, we have a part where we can do um like um like where we can take money out of the charity fund and put money into the charity. >> So here to donate to charity or $5, you know, you get the question, what do you do? >> Oh yeah. >> Okay. You want to >> saying whatever or ask it >> say did and it takes the money. >> Okay. How's it going? >> It's going. >> Okay. Since January 2024. >> No. Uh, yeah. Since January 24, 2025. >> Okay. How you got? [clears throat] >> Huh? >> No, he doesn't know. >> Is there a back [clears throat] door to this? >> Yeah. Yeah. Right there. You want We should grab you or nobody goes out the back door. >> [clears throat] >> So like right here, right? Um so like right here on the second $20. >> Is that your personal phone? >> Yeah. >> Use my work phone. >> All right. >> So like right here is the day um that was uh started right here. $50. >> His documentation is meticulous, but as the officers read through the list, the scope of the theft leaves them stunned >> 24 and then starts going down. So like right here, $60. >> You guys haven't talked at all, right? Nope. >> Okay. Yeah. >> Are you able to make copies of these? >> Yeah. So, um what I'm going to do is um I'm going to go from here and I'm going to make the copies off here. So, that way you guys have time stamps and everything. >> Yeah. Okay. >> You can print them off. >> Yeah. I can print them off. [clears throat] >> We can get a few. Yep. I can pull it up. >> [clears throat] >> I'm going to step outside real quick. I'm going to step outside real quick. >> I'll be back in a little 95s. >> Yeah. Oh, that's perfect. >> Yep. >> You can get that. >> And you totally up. >> Yes. >> Yeah. So, >> what's the phone number here to the store? Uh, >> look it up cuz I usually just give everybody my cell phone number. >> You won't use that. We use this one. >> You have your license and your name on it and just write it off here. >> I'm going to use this phone number for it. As officers go over the list of alleged thefts, the suspect casually steps into the room, unaware of what's about to be discussed. >> So, you're going to print that off? We got to go to there to get the transactions >> on video, but that's fine. That's fine. >> And then uh All right, let me go see what he's doing. My car. I don't know what he's >> We want to handle this. I don't want to go to Texas or we can just do it. Can you just come to work or you've been working all day? >> He just All right. He'll be right back in if you let us He can No, you can stay there. Sure. All right. Take this paper too. This has all of them. This thing is missing like seven or eight off that one. That has all of them. >> Seven or eight? >> Yeah. It's missing like seven or eight other transactions. >> Oh, I got you. I got you. I got you. This is all together. >> Mhm. >> Yeah. >> So, no, this is just all one. All of them on one page. It was It was missing. This one's missing. This one has all of it. >> Oh, yeah. >> Hey, can you give us just a second, man? I just We're dealing with the manager, so we don't want anybody coming back here. >> Can you Thank you so much. >> What you want me to do? >> Can you Are you working out there or you working in here? both. >> Okay. All right. Never mind. Never mind. >> I thought you were Never mind. >> Oh no. >> Who just went out the back door? >> Oh no. >> That was us. >> I'll get somebody to come shut off. Now it's a matter of deciding the next step and the officers consult with a manager on how to handle the situation. >> You guys kick out of his bathroom again. >> K's bathroom. >> No, that was the other. I thought I saw him this way in the back door. Okay. But I don't want him to know that we're going to bring him down. Not yet. Okay. So, >> okay. cuz they just changed our thing where we we work day. Yeah. >> Let's uh Can you stay here and just grab all the information? >> Let's let him know. >> So So hey, we're going to come up and take Okay. >> So what's his first name? >> Patrick. >> Patrick. What's his last name? Dunar. >> Dunar. No. Nothing. Okay. All right. Yeah, usually a lot of times >> is the first one. >> Huh? >> Brax is the first one right there. >> The first one. I don't think I >> The manager affirms his suspicions And that's all the officers need to move in [music] and address the suspect directly. >> Squad, we're going to escort him over there. >> Okay. When he made the profile, he didn't put none of his stuff in there. >> All right, we'll get it. >> Yeah. Okay. >> That's all right. No problem. You don't have >> Huh? >> Yeah, cuz he didn't give any of >> He didn't put none of his stuff in there when we made these profiles. Okay, that's fine. >> Okay, >> you got to go to the store and find >> Hey, Patrick. Hey. Um, we got some questions to ask you. You mind coming with us down to the station real quick? >> What? >> To the station? >> Yeah. To [clears throat] our station just to talk to some of the detectives. >> So, not saying you did anything or didn't do anything, but you may be aware of something that we're investigating. So, we just want to talk to you. Okay. Can you come with us? >> Can I get my things? >> What do you got? >> My jacket and stuff. >> You get a jacket? Yeah, sure. >> Yeah. We >> Hey, can I call you? >> You got ID on your phone? >> Yeah, I do. I'm trying to figure out what this container because I just came back from being off work from them tacos. Go >> get all that. Yeah. Yeah, I'll check you in for it. Yeah, >> Crystal comes in. Just as officers are walking the suspect out, some employees approach with crucial details they've been holding back. >> I guess I'm I'm unsure what's going on. >> What's up, buddy? >> I said I'm unsure of what's >> I know. So, like I said, not saying you did anything or didn't do anything. You might not even be related into what we're uh want to know about. >> I know that for sure. So, somebody just said that you might have some information on something that we're investigating and detectives wanted to talk to you. >> Nobody even know me. >> I'm sorry. >> Nobody even know me. >> Nobody knows you know here. Yeah. I'm not from >> Oh, where you from? >> No. >> No. Okay. >> So, >> well, we'll get it all figured out. Who knows? Might be >> Storm. Yeah, I'm just >> from here. All right. >> So, you know, because there is no charity refund or whatever, right? There's no there's no He's taking the detectives to be interviewed. I wanted to do it, but he wants to do it. >> And this started on the Are you sure it didn't start before? >> It started It started uh January 11th. >> January 11th, right? Yeah. 12:16 and it started January 11th. All right, you guys. So, I'll get your report number. He gets locked up. You guys are going to terminate him, obviously. >> Yeah, he's terminated. He's getting terminated. So, he has no reason to come out. Central >> 50, have a case number, please. >> [clears throat] >> employees tell officers the theft dates back more than a month adding weight to the growing case against the suspect. >> Yeah. >> Okay. I was going to say this at first because I know cuz when I first went back and there was a couple that were on my that's why that's why I kept something [laughter] right here. >> Let me see what this guy wants. I'll be out of your hair in a second. D U N B A R. Yeah. Patrick Dunar. >> No, they're supposed to make a profile on their phone online and he never did. He just put his name Patrick Dunar. No car here or none. He takes public transportation supposedly. >> All right. I'll be in route two down there. Thank you. Bye. >> All right, you guys. Thank you. I'll let you know if we need anything else, but we should. >> Have a good day. >> You, too, you guys. Quick and easy and then >> cut you loose, you know. [clears throat] >> All right. So, you're not going in handcuffs or anything like that cuz obviously you're not under arrest right now. Okay. Our guys just want to talk to you. But anytime we we'll we'll be right over here in this car. But anytime we uh put somebody in our car, we we like to just check and make sure they don't have anything that's going to hurt us. You okay if I search you real quick? Just make sure that you don't have any weapons. Like I said, man, you're not in trouble. I'm just >> I'm not worried about being in trouble. I have a drink of mine. >> A drink? What kind of drink? >> It was like >> just a pop. That's it. >> Just a therapy. Uh therapy. >> Oh, okay. I got you, man. >> I was sick. >> How you feeling now? >> I'm all right. That's why I came to work. >> Good deal. Were you Did you miss a couple days or no? >> With the situation at the store resolved, the officer is prepared to transport the suspect. >> All right, guys. Cigarettes right here. >> Yeah, that's fine. >> Okay. >> So, all right, Patrick. So, like I said, you're not under arrest. >> Uhhuh. >> Detectives just want to talk to you to see if you have information about something that they're investigating. Okay. >> I don't know what they're investigating. Is it concerning this toy? I'm not sure, but they'll they'll explain it to you once we get going. Okay, here's your seat belt. >> I know, man. >> Yeah. Following the investigation, it was confirmed that the suspect pocketed $785 in donations. He was then charged with theft and embezzlement. Number two, lift driver takes off with luggage. Then the case takes a wild turn. On February 27th, 2025, authorities responded to a report of a lift driver who abandoned his passengers and then took off with their luggage. Officers rushed to investigate. >> You got what you think about what? I just want my phone. >> What's going on? >> Yo, I don't want nothing. I just want my phone. I swear to God. I just want my phone. Where's my book at? >> Snitching. I don't want nothing, bro. I just want my phone, bro. I swear to God, bro. >> This lift. >> You're not going to get that. >> Where is this? Where you going? >> No. No. No. Where is this right now? What is going on? >> And I got money that you never paid in my pocket. >> All right. No. So, how did you get >> get money if I paid you? I just >> just relax. It's not worth >> 44th. >> We can still go to airport, bro. >> Hold on. We get this. >> Bergen Turnpike. All right. >> Where that at? This way. >> To avenue. And then you're going to go on Bergen. go on 43rd Street and then like bear right onto um onto Bergen Turnpike. You see right here is Bergen Turnpike. >> So you're going to go this way. >> And where we at? >> Is this you or >> No, that's >> Oh, that's where he is. >> Yeah. I don't understand where he freaking gone with our stuff. >> I was Oh, that was a >> What? What happened? >> Yeah, bro. I'm not going to lie. >> Misunderstanding. Unnecessariness. That's nothing. >> You guys know this kid? unnecessariness. Everything everything is all right. Unnecessariness. We just need our things and we all >> cuz we got a we got a call of a car accident. >> No, no, no. And that car has my >> They have my book bag. They have all that. I'm not getting robbed just because it's Where's the guy? Where's the >> I don't know. And he not freaking answering >> cuz now I have no book bag and no phone. >> No, no VA. They were uh Looks like they were going to fight. There was another uh guy, black, I'm sorry, red Jordans on. >> Yeah, nobody, >> but there's no complaints. >> Don't worry. >> The officers now turn to a witness who claims to have seen the whole scene unfold. And according to him, he even spoke with a driver [music] right before the suspect bolted. >> Yeah. >> Is I think he's the lift >> Uber for the Uber driver for them. So, I was coming down >> to work. Yeah. >> Stopped me. I called the cops. Call the cops. I didn't call you guy. I don't know who called. I called the cops. So I stopped. I'm like, "What's going on?" >> They were fighting on the car or something like that. I didn't want to get out. >> He's He was scared. So he got out of the car. >> Once he got out of the car, they all three of them got out. Instead of like, you know, arguing, he jumped in his truck and took off. >> Do you have his this guy? >> I'm trying to get him back right now. >> Just go over there. >> His things are in there, too. Get all of our things. >> Do you have contact with him? I'm trying to get him right now. I already called the other cuz >> Okay. Just to Yeah, just to get >> I told him try to get him back here. So, just give them back. >> All right. No problem. >> What's going on? >> What you said? >> Stop. >> What you said? No. No. No. No. I ain't got nothing. What you said? What you told? >> All right. But listen, it's not worth it. Stop. I'm trying to get your stuff back. >> I'm trying to get your stuff back. I'm trying to sign it. All right. >> I'm trying to get them right now. >> Okay. Cuz we're here and >> you know, just so they belong so >> I understand the throwing them out. We're just driving off with my >> All right. I'm sorry. >> Okay, thank you. >> 62 sector 4. According to the witness, the driver left to avoid getting caught in the middle of a brewing fight between passengers. But now that argument is picking up [music] right where it left off. >> Yeah, there's three individuals here. We just want to swim by >> another fight that we did. for me to get it, bro. >> What came from? Nothing, bro. >> I worked for that. No problem. No problem. Not like you here because of me, not the other way around. >> Yo, bro, what? >> You're here cuz of me. >> A lot of people could tell you that. A lot of people say you different. >> You're here cuz of me. You didn't have nothing, bro. >> And then what, bro? And then what? >> I would tell you again. >> Yeah. Yeah. No, you >> don't. Trust me, you don't want to do that. >> No, mommy. You don't want to do that to me again. >> All right. And you don't got to go. I don't want that. I just want you guys to get your stuff and be on your way. I'm being mad cool with you. All right. >> I don't want this to escalate. Trust me. >> I really don't say nothing. I didn't say nothing. >> All right, guys. I didn't say nothing. Stop. Please. >> You're just idiot. >> You're just an idiot. >> Why would you think I'm here cuz of you? Are you Are you >> Why would you think I'm here because of you? >> Because I wrote this. >> No, you didn't. >> Write what? And you was broke. I >> You were broke. I gave you money. You broke. No, no, no. >> Stop. >> Okay. >> Tensions continue to rise and officers are left trying to deescalate a standoff that neither passenger seems ready to end. >> Cuz I I'll arrest you for distort. All right. >> I don't want to do that. >> Hey, you watching? But I said don't do that. I just told him not to do that. What are you talking about? I just told him to get off you. You idiot. Idiot. I just said don't do that. >> You didn't just see me say don't touch him. What are you talking about? >> What's wrong with this dumb? >> How could I be here because of you? What are you talking about? >> This mean bro. What you mean? How? What would you mean? >> What you mean? I the Uber. How did you get the flight? What? What? That's my bread. You stupid idiot. >> Yo, bro, your mic wasn't on. >> That doesn't work. Your mic wasn't on. Remember this footage? >> Your mic wasn't on. Remember? >> Yo, did he disorderly condom? >> Disorderly condom. That's what they about to do. Arrest me. I didn't do nothing. I just want my [ __ ] back. Yo, bro. What are we talking about right now? Yo, bro. So, I risk it. What are we talking about right now? Go viral. I didn't do anything. see him touch nobody. Nothing talk about >> walk away. >> Yo, bro. Wait for his lip. >> Nothing. I just want my >> right now. >> All right. He's in contact with him. I just want you guys to get your stuff back. I don't want anybody to get arrested. >> Get it right. What? >> Okay. I don't want you guys to get arrested. >> Telling people, you stupid weird. >> It's not worth it. >> Still, um, >> you guys need to catch a flight, right? It's not worth getting arrested. >> Things are starting to settle until one passenger stirs the pot again. reigniting [music] the tension. >> But I'm telling you to just stop talking.
