But the woman isn't done resisting. And she's not going to make things easy. >> Dad, step off for me. >> Can you please take these off? They hurt. >> Get out of the car. >> Off. >> Get out of the car. Come on. Go. >> Why would you kick him? Why would you do that? >> Now you're going to go for aggravated battery on law enforcement. Officer, >> stand up. >> Okay, stand up. >> I'm going to both y'all up if you don't let me go. >> You're not going to do anything but stand up. >> Are you sure about that? >> Yeah. >> How many knives do I have on me or in me or in my hair? Come on, Cart. You're all right. >> Will you take this off? This watch? >> Yes, I can do that for you. >> Thank you. >> Be nice. I'm trying to help you. Sure. Sure. Be nice. That's what everybody wants me to do is be nice, right? Just shut up. You're all untrustworthy. >> How does this go out there? >> I don't know. Figure it out. Engineers. >> All right, >> losers. I win again. >> Why are you being so mean? >> Because I am mean. >> You don't have to be mean. >> I don't have to be mean. I am. >> Okay. >> I'm a bad and I will both of you all up. So, you better not take these off. You're right. The officers are doing their best to remain patient, but the longer this goes on, the harder it becomes. >> I'm going to get in if you just don't push me. >> Okay, >> thank you. I got to go backwards. You faces losers. Just put your left foot up there, Claudette. >> I have my socks on. Take my socks off. >> Just put your left foot up and you can climb up versus stepping on the small step. I'll shine a light for you. Look down there. There's a >> I can see my my feet are slippery and wet and dirty. >> Okay. >> Close the door. >> Thank you. >> You want something to drink right now? >> Water. >> I'll get you water. >> No, beer. >> You want a beer? >> Yes. Okay. I just want you to relax and you upset. >> Sure. Sure. You don't want me upset now, right? >> Go ahead. >> My brother's house. You better not take these off. I don't know what I'm going to do. Just keep them on. All right. Just keep them on. >> Keep them on. I'll get your water. >> You want cold water or you want real hot? >> Okay. Hop back in. >> Get away from me. >> I won't let him touch you. Come over here. >> One more time. I'm good. I'll get you water here. I'll adjust these cups now, too. Okay. I'm going to take them off so you don't wear them off. But >> don't take them off. >> I won't take them off. >> Okay. Is that better? Yes. It's for your safety, not mine. >> Yes, ma'am. >> They're almost ready to transport her, but not before giving her ex-boyfriend a clear idea of what's about to happen. >> Okay, so here's what's happening. She's going for one count of attempted auto burglary cuz she tried to get into somebody's car and then she decided she was going to kick me as we were trying to get her out of the car. >> Um, so she's going to go for aggravated battery on law enforcement officer. So, she's going to jail tonight. >> Is that a It's not a felony though. >> They're both felonies. They're both felons. >> What kind of jail time is that? >> That's not up to me. That's I mean, first I'm charging her, you know, to get jail time, she'd have to be convicted or plead guilty, and then that would be up to a judge. There's a number of other factors that come into play. So, okay. >> I can't even speculate what that would be. We're at stage one of a multi-stage process. >> Oh, man. All right. >> Okay. So, um >> um she'll be going to jail tonight. She'll see a judge in the morning at first appearance. That's at 8:30 at the Indian River County Courthouse. >> All right. Is that in Vero or? >> Yeah, it's in the city. It's on 20th. >> Yeah. >> At 16th. So, if you want to go, you can go. You can figure whatever bond is and you can try and bond her out if you want. >> Okay. >> You don't have to though. >> Really don't want to, man. Just >> No, you don't have to. It's up to you. >> Stop by the house and like she didn't break a lot of stuff. Broke a couple things. And >> I'm just letting you know. I mean, you can go. You don't have to go. I mean, if you go, you're not going to be able to participate because you're not a part of it. >> Yeah. you know, other than as a witness because you saw what happened at the car. But beyond that, I mean, you're not a part of the case, so you're not going to be able to participate in the hearing, but you can go if you wish. You can bond her out. You can let her sit. You can do whatever you want. That's entirely up to you. >> All right, man. >> Um, but she's going to be going with us. We're going to leave the car. Um, >> do you want us to lock it? >> Sure. You have another >> There is a fob at the house cuz we were like, she came by and we're like, how was she driving around? She her fob's here. So, okay. >> I know her fob's there. >> Okay. All right. Then I'll lock it up and leave it there and then you can get somebody to help you out and move it and then that way it doesn't get towed and there's not an impact, you know. Really sorry about this. >> Yep. Hey, it's not your fault. It is. It's >> It's hers. So, >> sticker car. >> All right. Have a great night. >> Thanks. You too. >> She's ultimately charged with attempted burglary of a vehicle along with aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer. Number four, when police have to play referee in a relationship gone wrong. For our next case, officers responded to a domestic violence call. Here's what happened when they met with the victim. >> Good job, man. >> All right. >> I had to run out the house. She was beating up so bad. >> All right. >> My wallet, my ID, my tax app, my credit card, everything's at her house, man. She live over there at 48. >> All right, I'm going to walk over other side and talk to you. Dude, >> this the same girl that was at your house when she refused to leave. >> Yeah. >> That we told you to stay away from. >> Yeah. >> That you won't stay away from. >> I had to go over there though. She had my stuff. I needed my stuff. I had to go. >> This is the same girl that you live in Kimmore, right? >> And you called us because she wouldn't leave your house. And we told you to leave her alone and you can't leave her alone. My child's mother. Okay. What happened? >> So, boom. I had to over there. I went over there. Boom. I went over there, grabbed my couple of my things. We ended up, you feel me? We ended up doing it. Boom. We ended up laying down. I'm not paying attention. She ended up grabbing my phone and she ended up going through my phone and seeing that seeing something she didn't like. Then she attacked me. I bet you with a phone beat on me all my let me get my me my phone and my jacket and I left and I ran out the house. >> So what you like done today? >> I don't you say you got y'all got a kid together and your kid over at this house? Where your kid at? >> She at her mom's house. Apparently, this isn't the couple's first heated argument, and the officers know about that history. With that, the officers work to verify more details about the current incident. >> You got injuries and stuff on my face. >> Yeah. Those scratch you there? >> Yeah. Yeah. She hit me with a broom and everything. >> A broom? >> Yeah. A broom. One of them like >> So, she went went through your phone, started freaking out, started hitting me. She looked at my phone and then walked in the room all casually while I'm laying on the bed and got me started. I told her to stop screaming. I'm surprised that nobody called the police. She said, "You not going nowhere." Like, "Okay." Um, we'll just follow her down there. All right. >> After taking the statement of the woman's husband, the officers decide they have enough grounds to take her in. But with her behavior, it's something easier said than done. No, I don't give a at this point. Put me in the >> Because what the I can't even get in my house, >> bro. Stop. What the is you put in my No, >> DIDN'T EVEN DO NOTHING, BRO. >> PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK >> RIGHT NOW. >> I want to tase you. >> Put your hands behind your back or you're going to get tased. >> Put your HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? >> Tell you here in a second. >> Why am I flat? What? What the? And then y'all let him leave. Like what? WHAT? HE NEED I need to call the police on him. I need to be calling the police on him. Like every time. Every time. But y'all want to put me in the test and he get to leave. Like come on now. That is weird as that weird. >> You going to grab your glasses? >> No. No. >> Go. >> No. You keep playing, bro. >> Because what the did you put him in for? You can tell me what the I have a right to know what the you're putting. >> You going to jail for DV? >> For For DV? >> I'm going to jail for DV for what? He put his hands on me. Is he going to jail for DV? No. No. No. Is he going to jail for DV? >> IS HE GOING TO JAIL FOR DV? >> Is he going to jail for DV? >> Listen. Get in the car. >> Is he going to jail for DV? >> GET IN THE CAR OR I'M GOING TO TAKE THE CAR. >> I WILL. YOU WILL. on the death. Okay. >> With a woman now detained in the back of the squad car, the officer attempts to calm her down as he tries to make sense of the whole situation. >> Freaking I want to freaking be. So why he get to go? >> When you done yelling, >> why do he get to go? >> When you done yelling and I could talk to you civil, that's when I'll talk to you. >> Why do he get to go? >> WHEN YOU DONE YOU'RE YELLING. >> OKAY, CHILL OUT. >> NO, I AM BECAUSE I'M ASKING YOU. Why do he get to >> When you done, >> why does he get to go? >> Why does he get to drive off? >> Why do he get to do that? >> Why do he get to leave? >> Huh? >> HE DIDN'T GET TO LEAVE. >> HE DIDN'T get to leave. Chill out. >> He did. >> No, he didn't. >> I'm going to freaking be quiet. You're not. You continue to keep talking. Be quiet. I got to ask you questions, so chill out. You have a right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. You have a right to talk to a lawyer, have him or her present with you while you are being questioned. If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, one will be appointed to represent you before any question if you wish. You can decide at any time, exercise these rights to not answer any questions or make any statements. After hearing these, do you after hearing hearing these rights, do you understand each of these rights I have explained to you? >> Yeah. Okay. With these rights in mind, do you wish to speak to me about what happened? >> Yes, I do. >> Okay. So, what happened? >> Yes, I do. >> What happened? >> That's the father of my child. He came to my house. He called me at 2:00 in the morning and come to my house. >> Uhhuh. >> He came to my house. First of all, he went and had with somebody and then came and laid with me and stuff because I was taking his phone because I took his phone. Now he throwing me everywhere. He grabbing me and stuff. grabbing stuff and stuff. So, yeah, I put my hands on him because he put his hands on me. >> Okay. >> That's a big man. >> Okay. >> And then you went to you went and had somebody with me. >> Okay. >> And now you mad at me you throwing me around because I'm on your phone. >> You got any clothes underneath there? >> No, I don't. >> Okay. >> As the police officer hears the woman's side of the story, he checks one vital detail with her that can reveal the whole truth of the matter. Where did where did he drive you at? You got any injuries? >> I don't know. >> Mind turning facing me so I can see if you have any injuries. >> Can you turn your face my way? >> I don't have nothing on my face. >> All right. Well, >> I'm going be honest with you. The story that we got told was >> you invited him over here. >> I did. >> You >> I invited Okay, >> just chill out. I let you talk. Let me talk. >> Story that we got told was you invited him over here. >> He came over here. He admitted to us that you guys had he said that he was sleep. You went through his phone. You seen that he that he was texting someone else. You got mad and you attacked him. >> So, I don't see any injuries on you. Okay. But he has injuries all over him. >> Okay. >> So, >> he's also light skinned and I'm bug skinned. I'm like, what? He's going to He's going to have a >> Okay. So, uh do you He said he has some stuff in house. Can we Can we go inside? >> The door won't even open. The door won't even open. >> Why won't open? >> But I don't know. They had to break the door down before because the I tried to come in. So, they had to break the door down. So something's wrong with the door. So no, you can't go inside because I can't even go inside. Huh? Or I would have called the police on him. >> Oh, okay. Well, your door is locked. We got your keys. All right. After the officer closes the door on her, the woman finally breaks down >> because he has no injuries. There's nothing that he could like that's not me. Like so behind me like this. Are you kidding me? Like what? And I'm getting to jump up with you. Like what? Yeah. Like that's insane. Like you left the house and you got the bully on me. Like okay. You went to sleep and I came and attacked you. Okay, >> dear. What's your social? I got to go TO COURT AT NIGHT AND I got to like I'm And every time you get off the I got like as this is happening, another officer confronts the man once again and gives him a piece of his mind about the absurdity of the whole affair. >> You when we at Kimmore that you need to leave her alone, but y'all don't want to listen to us. And then when we got to get involved, now y'all mad and y'all upset with us because we got to do our job. I kept it 100 with you at Kimmore when I told you like, "Dog, you need to leave her be. She wouldn't even leave your house. We almost had a taser because she got mad about you having the police pull up over here. Now you just see all this got to deal with. >> Like you keep calling THE POLICE ON ME LIKE YOU AIN'T OH, Jesus Christ. They're coming out. With the testimonies and evidence that they've gathered, the officers decide that it's the right moment to wrap up the case and head to the station. However, the suspect has a thing or two to get off her chest. >> All right. He said that. He said that she she told him to come over. >> I did not. >> She told him to come over. He came over. >> He said, "Uh, >> and you going to stick with that story and he get to say he put his hands on me?" >> Oh, God. >> He put his hands on me and I'M GOING TO JAIL. >> MA'AM, I don't see any injuries on you. >> YOU DON'T SEE NO INJURIES? >> NO, MA'AM. >> OKAY. That's exactly why women be going through what the they going through and he get to pull the off. BUT I JUST SAY HE PLAY HIS mother hands on me. What the >> I'mma tell you the same thing I told him when we dealt with y'all on Kimmore and we told y'all to leave each other alone cuz one day we're going to have to come and make a decision for both of y'all. Neither of y'all wanted to listen. Now look where we at. HE CAME TO MY HOUSE. LIKE THAT SICK IS ON THAT can't be proven. That came to my house. What? >> You he came to your house. You You let him in. Y'all y'all engage? Y'all engage? >> I don't believe. >> All right. Bet. You ever got arrested for domestic violence before? >> No, I have not. You don't even have no clothes on. You can't even let me put no clothes on. >> I asked you could we go inside your apartment AND YOU SAID NO. >> I HAD CLOTHES IN MY CAR. You didn't let me do none of that. >> You ain't say none of that. >> You didn't GIVE ME A CHANCE TO. >> Everything is Everything is our fault. >> Yes, it is because you didn't even let me get my mother clothes. They finally arrive at the police station, but it seems that the woman will insist on being stubborn until the end. >> All right, >> my robe needs to be fixed before I step out of the car. >> You can step out and then we can fix your robe. I can't fix your robe while you sitting down. >> You can hold it closed so I can step out of the vehicle. >> You can step out. >> Why can't you hold my stuff closed? >> Because I want to fix it. It's a listen. I don't want nobody to see you. So, can you grab and hold it close so I can step out? >> Can you listen instead of continue to keep talking? I have to have him come over here and stand right here while I fix anything on you cuz I don't want you saying that I touched you anyway type of way or anything like that. >> Okay. And I told you yes, but stand over. >> You didn't say yes. You said can I step out first? >> That's because you continue to keep trying to argue. >> I'm not trying to argue. What the [ __ ] I don't want y'all TO SEE ME NAKED. I WANT YOU TO HELP me close my step so I CAN GET OUT THE CAR. What the >> You can't hug my clothes so I can step. >> I need you to turn this way so he can see. I told you that. >> I don't want you trying to say nobody touching me, dude. Like cameras in here. You don't got to have a camera. You can just >> I'm not coming. CHILL OUT. >> NO. NO. NOBODY. I DON'T I have every right to feel like I >> If you chill out, I'm going to help you. Just chill. >> Am I not chill? Like you YOU'RE THE ONE THAT'S REALLY ACTING WEIRD AS LIKE WHAT? >> That's the best I can do. >> That's the best I can do. I can't do anything else for you. That's the best I can do. Just pull the stuff down. >> They're going to give you clothes either way. >> We like to just close down like our case comes to a close with a woman being charged with domestic violence. Number three, how a simple family fight crossed the line. On March 9th, 2023, officers responded to a home following reports of a domestic disturbance. Here is what they encountered upon arrival. >> Look, I get stressed out. >> All right. What's your name? >> I I get your stress out. You have the right to be mad. We just got here. It's fine. I know. We just got here. Okay. I don't know what's going on. >> He's always defending them for no reason, knowing that they do bad. >> Okay. And I'm not saying that that's okay. >> Okay. So, I don't know why you guys are even here. >> For what? >> We're here. Somebody called the police, right? >> Dispatcher doesn't speak Spanish, so they don't know what's going on. All we are told is that there's a family disturbance. It's possibly physical and that they're screaming in the background. >> So, now we have to go back through and figure out what's going on here. >> Okay. So, obviously you're giving us kind of the side of the story of what happened. >> So, run me through it again as far as cuz I just got So is it between >> mind business? >> That's >> yes kicking you out. >> No over money bills. >> Subject left and when be stupid. >> That's what it was. >> He thinks he's grown. That's a problem. He's not. >> Yeah. He wants to act like an adult. He's really not. He's a child. He's just in a child's place. Do you have your own room here? Like you live here? >> My sisters? Yes. I've always lived here. Ever since I left my ex-boyfriend, which I had a crazy relationship with and went crazy over there, I've lived here. >> Yeah. >> Obviously, because he probably cares about you and doesn't want you living on the street or anything. >> Yeah. Obviously not as much as he says he does. If this going on, >> it's not as much as he says he cares. >> Why are we so Again, I don't know what's going on myself. All right. >> But why not? >> Because they pissed me off on purpose. >> And I'm not saying you can't be mad and upset. >> Yeah, I know I can't. No, that's the thing. No, tell me different. >> You're yelling at us. >> I'm I don't mean to. I just can't. >> I'm not saying it's personal. You You can be upset. >> I don't want >> The woman says things escalated after she lost her job and tensions over rent boiled over. But it's what took place during that argument that has officers concerned. Um, I'm here. going on. If they're trying to lie on me, I got some. >> They can say anything they need, but we're trying to play three different sides of everything. So, bear with us right now. It's not It's not helping with you in there yelling. So, if I can remove one of they got going on. They're trying to play my right now. You guys are here. >> So, >> clear the only way the only way that they're going to Are you worried about them throwing you out? >> I don't care. They do this all the time. >> I'm I'm asking because that everybody scared of me in this house. I don't do nothing in this house. I go and I work. >> I go and I work. That's all I do. I quit Walmart. Now I work at They're probably mad cuz I quit Walmart. >> I don't care about this. I don't care about I don't care about none of this. >> I lose all that has nothing to do with them. I lose all my jobs and I go get another job. >> Okay. >> Who cares? They're worried about things they don't need to be worried about. They say, "Oh, Ben knows how to maintain a job. Ben know that's Ben. If I don't feel comfortable where I'm working, I can I have all the right to go find a new job." >> Is there >> It's that simple. >> You pay bills, sir. They make >> Yeah, I do. I pay rent here. >> I'm I'm asking. I'm not. >> It's the truth. >> Okay. >> I pay rent here. And he knows I pay rent here. I got paid $80 today. He was tripping about that. >> Are they concerned that maybe like they're worried that >> I told him I always pay always pay you rent? I don't pay you rent. >> Hey, talk to me, please. Yeah, he can't talk. He knows he's not helping. That's not helping cuz he's talking to officer McMan. >> You can think whatever you want about him, but we're not here. That's a problem. They all control them. >> So, we're clear. You have the legal right to be here cuz you live here. >> I can't get I already called the cops once and they told me. >> Okay. >> They told me. >> I just want to make sure >> in case you were worried. >> And he cares so much about me. Love me so much. He's just trying to help me. He's trying to do this. He's trying to get out of here. After you guys leave, I'm out here. I I'm outside. That's where I'm living. >> I don't I might as well. >> I mean, we can do a civil standby if you want to pack your stuff and you want to leave. >> The officers are willing to assist her, but only after making sure she's legally allowed to leave. And unfortunately, her words seem to be making matters worse. >> I'll do it on my own. He already said that. I'll do it on my own. >> Is the mark >> I'm about to get ready for work, put my car, and leave. I don't want to be here. >> The mark that mark that's on your arm. Is that new? And she gets into a relationship, I think, or she starts liking this this GP that works there. And I I told her, I was like, "Yo, you got to stay friendships." And and you know, cuz that can ruin your work. This is like you have payments, you have bills. And she just she doesn't she doesn't grasp the concept that she's she's 24, 25, she got a new car. She can't keep a job longer than 3, four months. So, obviously, she's going to go to jail tonight. Um, >> can you explain everything that happened? >> Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. So, initially we went over to the house, obviously made contact with her. Okay. >> My mom said that he called her and talked to her or whatever. Did y'all talk to him? >> Who called her? Who called her? >> He called my mom. >> Yeah. Yep. So we went and spoke with him. By the state of Florida, we look for a primary aggressor to diffuse the situation. So if you want to come back and forth and say he this, he that, she, she, we can take you both and you guys will both spend a night in jail and then you guys both have a no contact order. It can keep going. You know, that's why we do the simple route to just have a primary guster. Do that. Do that. Dude, it's your first time getting arrested. Then you'll be fine. >> You're saying that I'm going to spend >> There's still some leniency in the officer's approach, but the woman is close to pushing them past their limit. >> Listen, just do me a favor.
