A calm conversation could have ended these traffic stops in minutes. Unfortunately, the people involved chose to make it a full-blown incident. Here are five cases when mouthy entitled women turn a simple traffic stop into a felony. Number five, woman thinks she's above traffic laws. The police let her know she's not. On June 13th, 2025, an officer initiated a traffic stop on a black sedan after witnessing the driver commit multiple violations. Here's how the encounter unfolded. >> Hello, I'm officer Albert Lake Police. Reason I'm stopping tonight, when you were over at Dole uh at the four-way stop sign, >> you stopped. Your whole vehicle was in the crosswalk. >> Um >> I think you're right. So, and then when you turn on the lakeshore, you are actually straddling both the oncoming lane and this lane. Is everything all right tonight or >> you know, I've lived here for so many years. I I got bad habits. >> Okay. Do you reproduce 50 years as well? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Yes. I There goes my airplane. >> Yeah. You know, I'm not going to >> Okay. >> I totally get it. >> You heading home tonight or? >> Yeah. I live over there on the west end. Where you coming? Where are you coming from? >> Um, where am I coming from? >> Well, I've been to like a couple places. My girlfriend had abandoned Wakanda. >> Let's see if this one is correct. >> Okay, give me a couple minutes. I'll be right back with you. Okay. >> Any luck? >> You know, that's really weird because I'm like, where the heck is it? That's so weird. I'm like so habit forming. I'm like, where is it? You know, like I put it in my photos and everything and like now I don't even see it cuz I never get I never do anything. >> Fair enough. Here, do you mind you I don't want you to drop any of this stuff in there. I just want to talk to you outside the car real quick. >> The woman isn't showing the usual signs of being under the influence, but the way she drove earlier and her current demeanor are setting off a few red flags for the officer. >> Why do you want to do that? >> Uh just cuz just with all of your driving and stuff and some of the things I'm seeing, I just want to make sure you're okay. I just want to talk to you outside of the car. I'm actually fine. >> Well, yeah. I need I just like I said, >> I don't see anything that you that I've done. I mean, I I kind of admit I'm local and I I usually just kind of just I did stop at the Dole. >> So, the reason I'm The reason I'm >> stopped at the Dole thing. >> So, when you stopped over at Dole in Woodstock, >> you were all in or was it? Yeah, it's Dole and Woodstock. You were all the way in the intersection. >> Okay. >> Well, I'm always, you know, I ride a motorcycle. Fair enough. But then when you're coming up and you're driving in two lanes and then when I'm hitting the lights >> Yeah. When you turned onto this street, you were straddling both lanes. >> No, I wasn't. >> Yes, you were. I was right behind you. I don't think >> so. Like I said, I just want to talk to you outside. It's not the end of the world. No, no, no. I'm giving you a cordial. I'm giving you an order so that we can have a cordial conversation. >> An order? >> Yes. I'm giving you a lawful order that you need to step out of the car. >> What I'm saying is when you're on a traffic stop, I have the right to ask you to step out of the car to talk. been on a traffic stop at like correct. I don't even know what I'm explaining to you is yes. It's Pennsylvania versus Mims is a Supreme Court case law that says on any traffic stop I have the right as a police officer as long as I have you lawfully detained which I do on two moving violations to ask you to step out of the car to talk to. >> What are the moving violations? >> Improper lane usage and improper turn on a GoPro. >> It's on a dash cam and on my body cam. >> Do you mind if I see it? >> No, because my body my body and dash cam are still doing. >> So you need to exit the vehicle right now. Okay. I not exiting the vehicle unless you show me what I did wrong. >> Okay. So, you need to exit the vehicle. Otherwise, you're going to be obstructing and I can place you under arrest. >> Would you please mind showing me what I did wrong first? Cuz I'd like to see >> I cannot I cannot stop recording right now. >> What are you talking about? >> My dash cam, my body cam recording. In order to be able to show it to you, I would have to turn that off. >> I'd like to see what I did wrong because I don't really think I did anything wrong. >> Yes. But so this is where we're at right now is you need to exit the vehicle and talk to me about that. >> I'm not exiting the vehicle. >> With that, the officers know this stop will be much more complicated than they initially expected. >> Okay. If you don't exit the vehicle, I'm going to open your vehicle, take you out, and place you under arrest. >> I don't think you can do that. >> I can legally do that. You'd be obstructed because I've given you a lawful because I'm telling you because I'm seeing things that could be indicative of impairment. >> Well, I'd like to see what you're talking about because I don't see any reason. Come talk to me outside. >> Stop at the stop sign. >> So So come talk to me outside of the car and we can I can explain it to you. Okay. >> No, I don't like this. >> Now, you know, I'm hugely back the blue. We ride in all these like charity events for you guys. And I'm like, I don't understand because number one, I've been living here for I don't know 40 years. It's just I told you it's like a bad habit that I just like drive because I know where I'm going. So, why are you so apprehensive about just having a conversation with me outside of your vehicle? >> I'm not apprehensive about it. I just think I know my rights. >> No, it it's actually not your right. Uh, you have the right to you have the right to remain silent. You have many rights, but the right to sit in your car after I've lawfully told you you have to get out. >> Well, you're telling me, but you're not willing to show me the evidence. >> How can I show you the evidence if you're still sitting in the car? >> How about you show me the evidence first and then I'd be willing to get out of my car? >> That's not going to happen. So, you need to exit the car. Otherwise, we're going to take you out. How about we call your sergeant? >> Okay. >> All right. >> Present one from 301. Uh my driver's asking for you. >> No. >> Okay. >> No. No. No. I'm saying really safe driver. >> I'm saying that's on my dad. >> No. On stop signs I don't put my feet down, which I admit. I'm my Harlot. >> Yeah. >> I'm just used to that. And so I just when I'm in my little car, I kind of do the same thing. I totally admit that. >> Right. And he's >> but I didn't even roll through the stop sign. I stopped at the stop sign. I don't know what he's talking about. Like >> so so you >> I don't know what he's talking about. So I want to see what he's talking about. >> I can explain to you. So when we're where I want to see the evidence cuz I don't know what you're talking about. >> By now the officers have made it clear what she did wrong, but Karen is still not getting it. >> My sergeant's coming down. I'm going to tell you. So my sergeant's coming down. I'm going to tell you right now. We're not going to stop my body cam or my dash cam to show you the evidence. >> Okay. I saw it with my own eyes. That's why I waited for you to go because you were sitting in the middle of the intersection. >> I don't know what you're talking about. The middle of the intersection. I'm at a stop. >> All right. So, stop. So, stop. >> I'm at a stoplight. No, I'm at a stop light at Dole. You didn't see your lights on until after I was after Dole. And I'm like, what? I don't know what's happening. >> Yes. So, there was a stop sign. >> Well, if you didn't like the stop sign, why didn't you pull me over after the stop sign? >> Cuz I still have to run your plate. I like to know who I'm stopping before I turn my lights on. >> What's going on, >> ma'am? So, like like you said, you didn't have anything to drink. He's just covering our baselines with with that. So, 40 years. I love you guys. >> I've been backing you guys forever. I know so many people in the police department. What is the deal? >> I like >> I've never heard of something like this where I'm >> like like you said stopping at the stop sign >> because of the driving infractions. They're just consistent with somebody >> no driving infractions so far. Yes, there was. Additionally, you're fumbling with all of your documents. You're slurring your speech. >> I can't find my I'm like, where the heck is I usually put my insurance card like >> Okay, this is what happens. >> Let Let me ask you this. Would you would you even just submit to a breathalyzed? >> No, I will not do anything because I don't know why you're even stopping me. You're not even telling me >> stop. >> Time is ticking, but the officers still make one final attempt to keep the situation from escalating. >> Okay, my sergeant. So, I'm I'm trying to tell you, but you're not listening. >> Seriously. >> So, when I pulled you over, I pulled you over for that one, and then I called >> What one? You're not even >> the stop sign that that we've been talking to the Dana Dolewood. >> But, you didn't even pull me over after that. You pulled over. That's when I hit my dash cam. And then we kept going and then as we were coming down. >> No, you didn't even pull me over till after the stop light that Dolan 14. Correct. Cuz I was still running your plate. I was still following you. And then when it was a safe location to make a stop, that's why I stopped you here. >> You weren't even following me. You came on a turn after that at the stop sign. You're flashing your lights at me to turn >> to keep going. Yes, because I was getting behind. >> I'm waiting for you. I'm at the stop sign and you're I'm like, why are you not turning? >> Because you stopped in the So the stop line on the stop sign, right? You were all the way in the intersection. >> It's called enttrapment. If that's what you're talking about. If that's what he's talking about. cuz I'm sitting at the stop sign waiting for the car to turn. Then he starts following me right. Here's the thing. >> Look, my name's Dave. Okay. >> What? >> My name's Dave. You can call me Dave. >> All right, >> that's fine. >> But here's the thing. >> You're on a traffic stop. >> You get a chance to keep that. >> You're on a traffic stop right now. Officer How is the one in charge of the traffic stop. He's giving you a lawful order, which we are allowed to do, for you to exit the vehicle so we can continue his investigation. If you refuse to do that, you will be arrested for obstructing an officer. >> I'm not obstructing an officer by not exiting my vehicle. >> Yes, you are. He has given you a lawful order to exit the vehicle. >> That's her final warning. This stop is already dragged on longer than it needed to. What comes next will depend entirely on Karen. >> I know my rights. I do not have to exit the vehicle because I know for a fact that I've done nothing wrong. >> Take your seat some Karen. >> Please, please. >> So, >> do that for me, please. >> Why do you want me to exit the vehicle? >> So, he can continue his investigation. >> What investigation? >> I I've not even done anything. >> What are you doing, >> Karen? >> Oh, man. You do have a body cam on, right? Yes, I do. We all do. >> So, I'm going to give you Karen. Is there anything I can do or say to make you exit this vehicle before you get arrested and I have to put hands on you? >> I'm thinking. I'm thinking. >> Okay. Take a moment. >> So, what's going to happen right now is either you're going to get out of the car and we're going to continue our conversation and back or I'm going to put hands on you, take you out of this car, tow your car after you get arrested and taken to Crystal Lake. >> But you need to come up with a reason why you'd be doing this to me. >> Because you're fumbling with items. You are slurring your speech. You >> I'm not slurring my speech. This is how I >> me I've never met you before, but that's what it appears to me. >> Oh my god, you're cracking me up. >> So So I want to make sure that you're not impaired. I want to do a couple of things to make sure you're not impaired. >> But Karen, this is this is the last opportunity I'm going to give you before I arrest you for obstructing. Do you understand? >> That's fine. >> So just step out of the car. Let's make this easy. And >> I'm not stepping out of the car. >> Okay, then you're under arrest >> for what? Well, can I have my Wait, hold on one second. Wait, come out of the car. >> All right. Well, we give me one second. >> You were under arrest. Come on in the car. >> Well, can I get my purse and my phone? >> Nope. We'll get it for you. You're under arrest. >> You got Just get my phone to my purse. >> Okay, Karen. >> Okay, turn around. Put your hands behind your back. >> Oh, this is fun. >> You guys crack me up. >> All you have to do is get out of the car. That's it. >> We're going to go to the passenger side. >> Why are you going to do it? >> The reason was so you don't get arrested and so we could have a civil conversation. >> What? >> Okay. Well, we had a civil conversation when I was in my car. >> In addition to her traffic violations, Karen was charged with resisting arrest. Number four, woman thought pulling out a knife during a traffic stop was a good idea. On January 1st, 2023, Highway Patrol spotted a car driving with a blue tag light. A violation that should have led to a simple traffic stop. Watch how this encounter escalates to something more serious. Evening. >> Yeah. >> Hi, Sergeant D. Carlo with the sheriff's office. Reason I pulled you over tonight is your tag light is blue. So, you can't have blue lights visible on the outside of your vehicle. >> Okay. I don't know that. >> That's right. You have your license, registration, proof insurance on it? >> I don't. >> You don't? Did you forget your wallet at the house or? No, I have my license, but I don't have a license. >> Okay. Do you mind grabbing your license for me? Is the car registered to you? >> No. >> Yes, you said. Okay. Thank you. And your license is valid, correct? >> As far as I know. >> Okay. Do you know what insurance company you have by chance? >> I have Geico. >> Geico. Okay. All right. Just sit tight. Okay. She's uh she's kind of weird. Um, if you want to go up there, uh, hit the passenger side. >> Yep. >> And take a sniff inside the window. >> That's why I just recorded right now. >> That's fine. >> I know. But >> you want to take a sniff inside the passenger window? Just ask her. Uh, what what insurance company did you say you had again? Cuz she didn't she didn't give me anything. So maybe I forgot, but take a sniff. See if she's smelling 50. >> The officers are now working to identify her, run a background check, and figure out what to do next. With her refusing to cooperate, they're not taking any chances. The officers are playing it safe. But even that can't prepare them for what the woman decides to do next. [Applause] Have a seat. Have a seat back in the car. Oh. Whoa. Whoa. What the What is happening? What are you doing? Put your hands behind your back. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Why are you doing this? >> Why? Why? Why would you think >> it's a good idea to pull a knife >> on a traffic stop? >> Okay, guys. I am taking this out so you don't pull it over again. >> What? >> My life. >> Why would you get out? >> Are you Wow. out and a knife in your hand on a traffic stop. That's the easiest way to get shot. >> You know that. >> I just want to take this off because I don't want you pulling over my door on the traffic stop when you're at home. >> Okay. What are you doing? Get out of my car. >> All right. Do you have a medical card? >> For what? >> I smell the odor of coming out of the vehicle. Do you have a medical card or no? >> No, my son does. >> All right, then. >> Oh, wait. You can check my car. >> Oh, I'm I'm going to search your car. >> No. Okay. >> Excuse me. >> Why are you going to search? >> I have probable cause based on the odor of You're telling me that you do not have a medical card? >> Okay. You want to call my son? >> Is your son in the car right now? There's no reason for it to smell like cuz I don't smoke. >> It does. I can drop. So, I'm going to search >> right now. My pants and piss in a cup and you'll find out I don't smoke. >> I would prefer if you didn't drop your pants for me, ma'am. >> I am going to search the car. >> The woman seems to think she's in control of the traffic stop, but the officers are about to remind her who's actually in charge. It's time to comply. >> Yes. >> I'm not getting >> Have a seat on the bunker. I'm not giving you >> If you're saying that If you're saying that you're not giving me consent, that's fine. I don't need consent. I have probable cause. >> Okay, I need to call Let me call >> Have a seat on the bumper. >> No, I'm calling out. >> Not right now. You're not. Stop resisting him. Otherwise, we're going to pepper spray you next. >> I need to call my dad. He is a sheriff. >> What's his name? >> Ralph Rickman. I need to call him now. I need to call a lawyer or somebody because you guys are have improbable cause. Okay, I need to take this light out of my car before since obviously you pull me over and there's thousands of people that don't even have a front headlight >> and you're going to pull me over for a blue light. >> Mhm. >> A little blue light >> cuz it's against the law. >> Well, I didn't know that. >> They shouldn't sell them if they're against the law. >> Well, they sell a lot of things are against the law, right? Okay. And that's the only reason you're going you're going to pull me over because I didn't have a life. And now you're going to pull me over because I have a light. [Applause] >> Hey, 3152. [Music] >> Yeah, I got you. Hey, >> stay with her. Watch you guys. I'm not resisting. Turn around. >> Turn around. Car you look through my car. >> Turn around. Here's the deal. >> If you're going to go through my car, you don't watch anything. Lean up against my car. Lean up against the car. Sir. Now with legal grounds to search the vehicle, officers take a look inside. And it doesn't take long for them to find exactly what they were expecting. >> Yeah, I got this side. I was going to unlock it. I got to reach in there for this. turned my head to cough and spit and all of a sudden I see my recruit running up. I'm like, "Uh-oh." >> Yeah. >> Did he react fast enough? Good. Good. >> Yeah, he was on it before I >> Awesome. >> Got up here. >> Awesome. Smells in here somewhere. Oh god. [Music] I hate to see it. A little bit of smoke though. That's cool. Heat. [Music] Heat. The officers have already found elicit substances in her vehicle. And if you think that'll finally get her to quiet down, think again. She keeps running her mouth and interfering with the search. >> You can't go through my purse. >> Yes, I can. >> No, you can't. >> Where did you get Where did you get your law degree? >> I have a search warrant. >> I have probable cause. You don't. My car smells that way because my son spoke of it. >> When When did you go to the law enforcement academy last? >> He has his thing. >> He has his car. >> Okay. >> So, what are you doing? That's none of your business what you're looking through. >> That's fine. >> Okay. >> What are you doing through my backpack? >> Same thing as doing your purse. Search gives you a problem. >> Yeah. You don't have permission to search. You said my >> probable cause. >> So you have probable cause to read through my stuff. >> No. [Music] Back her >> back her up over there. >> Listen, >> you're not going to stand behind me. >> Yeah, let's go. We're going to walk back this way. >> If you resist them, I will pepper spray you >> over here. Would you stop? >> I want to see. No, I have the right. Go ahead. You take it. Look. You're going to put something in my car and then you're going to say I had something. >> You guys are dirty cops. >> You're going to put some in my car and say I had it. Don't touch me. >> Touch me. >> You guys are going to put something in my car and say I had something. >> No. So, you're going to go >> touching me. >> It's open. >> The officers finish a quick pat down, but just before the woman is placed in the back seat, she makes sure to get a few more words in. >> There you go. Have a seat in the car. >> Okay, you guys are going to No, >> have a seat in the car. >> I have rights. >> The car. Seat the car. I'm going to tell you right here. >> Okay, you guys are putting stuff in my car and you're going to say that I have it. Give me my >> Have a seat in the car. >> Go. >> I have >> stay here. Where? Who runs out of a car with a knife? >> Her >> dude. 22. >> 22. >> All right. So, we're discussing it. We don't think the intent was there that she was going to do anything to you. She was just like, "Oh, she's just a very disgruntled person." So, what we're going to do is resisting without because you told her, "Hey, drop that." She didn't. You went to go. You threw it, took it out of her hand, threw it, go to cuff her. She was she was biting us. Okay. >> Oh, yeah. Thanks for this what happened. She's got purple ear purple ear. Listen, good job, man. The woman was ultimately charged with resisting an officer without violence and possession of illicit substances. Number three, when pretending to be a police officer backfired miserably. This next case takes us to Atlanta, where officers pull over a car with not just an expired plate, but illegal blue lights attached. Watch how the traffic stop unfolds. >> Hello, Master Officer Children's Conser Police Department. Do you have your license real quick? Why you pull me up? >> Blue lights and expired tag. You got your license real quick? My my my license. What' you say you for me? >> I just told you you got your license real quick, >> sir. I'm an officer, too. I work for the state of Alabama. So, we going to give each other this. Why didn't you stop? >> Well, for the second time, blue lights and expired tag. You had your license with my blue light. >> You can't have blue lights on a vehicle. >> Okay. >> As you said, you're an officer, right? >> Uh-huh. >> You got your credentials? >> I don't. >> You don't have credentials. I'm >> not going to my house to check on my uncle. No, I don't. >> Okay. So, you're an Atlanta police officer? >> No. >> Okay. But I got >> but I ain't nobody ever send that to me like I like they didn't know. >> I had I just didn't put it on but I had >> Do you have an updated copy? This one expired February this year last year. >> Pull this thing up today. >> Uh your license. Can I get that please ma'am? >> What happened? >> Your license. Can I get that please ma'am? Awesome. Thank you. You give me one second. I'll be right back, lady. >> Can you get Atlanta Police Department's on the phone and I'll signal 15 in in reference to a verification of employment? >> All right, you're connected. >> Hey, hello. >> Hey, this is Officer Childers over here at Collins Police Department. >> I have an individual who is saying they are a police officer. I just need to verify that. >> I'm sorry. Say what? on duty. >> No, not on duty. She's clearly off duty. I've got her on the traffic stop. >> I just need She She's claiming that she's an Atlanta police officer, but has no credentials on her city. >> According to the woman, she's with Atlanta PD. With that, the officer is pressed for the specifics. And as expected, she's scrambling for an answer. >> Hey, you're with Atlanta, you said. Yes, I work for the city >> as in a law enforcement capacity. >> I work for department of aviation. >> Department of Amish. >> I do. >> Why >> are you uh mandated? >> What? Why are you asking about the >> Are you mandated? >> Hold on. Let me call you right now. >> Oh, okay. My husband's going to call what? Why are you asking about? >> But from my understanding, you're claiming to be law enforcement. >> No, I didn't. I told him came here. He was really smart with me and I said we both going to talk with I work for the city of Atlanta. >> I said so >> and the department of aviation you said. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> No, he didn't ask me for department. I just said I work for the city of Atlanta. >> Ah, okay. >> So, I was letting him know I work in the same field. So, you don't have to talk to me. There ain't no reason. Just tell me why you pulled me out. >> Okay. All right. Well, thank you. She said she didn't tell you she worked for law enforcement. >> She said she was an Atlanta police officer. >> She said she said I asked her, "Are you mandated?" She said, "No." I said, "We work." Where do you work? City of Atlanta. Uh she works for aviation. But I didn't tell him I was law enforcement. >> She told me she was police officer. >> All right. So, she's not saying Okay, never mind. She's She's not in my office. >> Okay. All right. Thank you. >> All right. >> All right. She told me she was not a police officer. She said I work back. She said she was not a police officer. >> She said she worked for the city police department or she worked as a police officer. >> I had to go back and see what she said. >> I think she's playing words. >> I had to go back initially and see what she said. But she uh I said So you're a police officer from Atlanta? Yes. So, I mean, you can only be one thing in police. We'll do what I'm going to do. >> The officers press her one more time, hoping she'll finally tell the truth. But if she doesn't, they're prepared to move forward without it. >> You said you're an officer, right? >> You don't have to police officer. Okay. Yep. She gone. Do you think we need a spike first? >> All right, ma'am. You got the vehicle in park? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Go ahead and step out for me. You're under arrest. >> I'm not under arrest. >> Impersonate law enforcement. Come on, >> sir. I did not say >> right now. What are you doing back right now? >> What are y'all doing? >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Put your hands behind your back. No doing. >> Put your hand behind your back. >> Stop. >> Stop, ma'am. >> Now you're going for obstruction. >> No, I'm not. >> What are you doing behind your back? >> I'm trying to turn my vehicle off. What are y'all doing? >> Do not reach for anything. Get out. >> This is >> I just heard the video. >> Turn it off. >> No. Step out of the car. >> Turn it off. Step out of the car. Please >> step out on your own power. Do it now. >> Step out. >> You put your hands behind your back. Do it right now. Put your hands behind back. I'll put you on the ground. You put your hands behind. >> I'm not resisting. Nobody. >> Okay, we got you. Please. I did see you holding on to that third wheel. Okay. >> I'm just saying what is he arresting me for? I didn't I said Department of Aviation. It's on my >> I just saw the video. You said >> no. I stop moving. >> I said I work >> stop moving. Stop pulling me. >> No, it's not going to be worse on my >> Hold on. I'm get me my I need to call. >> No, we're not doing no calling. >> Okay. >> 97 start 1051. >> Give me my phone. >> She's already been found out. But that doesn't stop her from sticking to her story. Instead of owning up, she doubles down, hoping that yelling will somehow make it right. >> Now, ma'am, do you have anything illegal on your person? >> I don't. >> Okay. You're under arrest from impersonating law enforcement, please so I can explain everything. >> I did not impersonate no law enforcement. I said I was pulled over before unauthorized use of blue lights and expired tag. Okay, that's what your charges are going to be. >> No, I'm not, sir. I'm not I'm not resisting. Why are y'all doing this? >> I did not impersonate no more. You asked me for my license arrest. >> Are we having a conversation or I'm just listening you scream my face? >> Are you recording me? >> I have nothing more to say to you. Every time I speak, you scream over me. >> But God asked for my license and registration and I gave it to him. I did not with you. >> Is she down to the pet now? >> Yeah. The best I can do. I can't check it much more unless we can get it. We got a female working. >> Okay. Can Can y'all call the supervisor for me, please? >> Okay. So, what I'm He arrested me for what now? >> I did not impersonate no heard the video. >> You came over there yourself. I'm not resisting, sir. >> I never resisted. >> Put your feet in the car. >> He said, "Are you a police officer?" Yes. >> Yeah. We're not playing these games. Over here trying to get out of a ticket, trying to smack like she's a police officer. It wouldn't have worked anyways, but set up. >> What's your name? >> Salty Childers. Right this red door for me, please. Stand right there in front of it. Stand right there in front of it. Yes, I have both your phone. Impersonate law enforcement. Impersonate law enforcement and obstruction. >> Mhm. >> She said, "I focus." >> She sure did. >> The night ended with a woman getting several charges, including illegal lights being on a vehicle, driving on expired tags, impersonating a police officer, and resisting arrest. Number two, woman had a chance to walk away, but her mouth got her arrested. On June 8th, 2025, officers with the Indian River County Sheriff's Office observed a vehicle failing to maintain their lane. Here's the traffic stop that followed. >> Hello. >> Hey, what's up, bud? >> How you doing? >> Good. >> My name is Deputy Esta with the Ender County Sheriff's Office. >> Okay. >> The reason why you're being pulled over today is because you're failing to maintain your lane. >> Oh, I apologize. >> So, what's going on? >> Uh gosh, I just left my dad's house. >> Final stop's going to be past Oslo Road by the Walgreens parking lot. Um, >> you just left what? >> My father's house. He just got out of the hospital. Sorry. >> My sister's calling me. Sorry. >> Uhhuh. >> Hey, bud. I just got pulled over. I'm trying to tell him that our dad just got out of the hospital. >> Are you okay? >> Um, yeah. Let me deal with this and I'll call you right back. I love you. >> How are you? >> Yeah. No, on US1. I'll call you right back, my love. All right. I'm good. It's all good. Okay. Sorry. Um, so my dad just got out of the hospital. Um, I don't live here. I'm not from here, so that's probably why I was like I'm trying to like look at my sister's location, that type of thing. >> Do you have your license or registration insurance? Yeah, absolutely. Um, let's see. >> You have any weapons or anything in the vehicle I should know about? Just a question. >> Uh, no. It's a rental car. No. Um, I live in Utah. >> Okay. >> So, no. Um, let's Jesus. All right. screen. Try to get to the bottom of this room a little bit. >> Uh, you know, I could probably pull up it on my phone quicker. >> Call what up on your phone? >> My >> With the woman remaining cooperative, the officer holds off on any decisions and lets her pull up her ID to prove her claims. to look at. >> Where you coming from? >> Um, Sebastian where my dad is. He's in the hospital there. So, I'm just driving down to Port St. Andrew to my sister's house. >> She coming from Where in Sebastian? The uh >> uh the hospital. >> The Sebastian Hospital up there by Rosa. Okay. >> All right. Let me see. All right. This is it. I live in Chicago. >> Can I have your phone? >> Yeah, of course. Yeah, I'm down here just trying to get my dad sorted out. >> So, it's kind of been a nightmare. >> So, do you have like the >> No, this is a rental car. So, >> I mean, I have insurance like with my Chicago stuff or whatever, but What's your name? >> Heather. Dylan 3 is two up. >> What's that? Oh, man. >> Yeah, it's been a >> nightmare. So, I'm just trying to go down to my sister's house in uh Fort Pierce or St. Lucy. So, I didn't mean to swerve. I apologize for that part. >> There's your phone back. >> Okay. Thank you. >> She's cooperative so far, but officers still need to determine if her failure to stay in her lane was due to emotional stress or something more serious. Ma'am, >> can I ask you a question? Have you been drinking today? >> Um, no. >> Okay. So, I can see that you have like watery red eyes. Okay. >> Oh, I've been crying a lot because I understand that. Just just listen listen to what I'm telling you. >> Yeah, absolutely. Okay. >> You have watery um red eyes. >> Mhm. >> You failed to maintain a lane. Okay. So, let's let's talk let's talk outside cuz can we all lock the door, please? >> Oh, sure. >> Take your seat belt off. >> Yeah. >> Let's just step out here. >> Okay. Uh, what's going on? >> Just step in the back of the vehicle. It's okay. >> Okay. So, >> I have reason to believe that you could potentially go. Okay. >> That I could be what? >> Oh, okay. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> So, over here, I'm talking to you. >> Oh, okay. >> No, it's okay. Just just I'm I'm talking to you. Okay. Okay. So, >> I've concluded my traffic stop. Okay. >> So, now I'm going to do a DUI investigation. Okay. >> Okay. >> So, before I do that, I am going to read you your rights so that you understand what they are. Okay. You have the right to remain silent. Anything can be abused against you in the court of law. You have the right to talk to a lawyer, have a lawyer present with you, you'll be in question. If you cannot afford, hire a lawyer and won't be appointed to represent you before question. You decide to answer questions now without lawyer present. You still have the right to stop answering at any time you speak with the lawyer. Do you understand each of these rights to explain to you? >> No. >> No. >> If she thinks that'll put an end to the stop, she's mistaken. The officers are here to ensure she complies one way or another. >> Okay. You have the right to remain silent. Do you understand what that means? >> I do. >> Okay. Anything you say can and will be used against you on the court of law. Do you understand what that means? >> Yeah, I do understand. You have the right to talk to a lawyer and have a lawyer present with you or you are being questioned. Do you understand what that means? >> Yes. >> Okay. If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, won't be appointed to represent you before questioning. Do you understand what that means? [Music] >> Um, yeah. I guess I'm confused. What's happening? Okay. Okay. If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, one will be one will be appointed to represent you before questioning. Do you understand what that means? >> Yes, I understand. >> If you decide to answer questions now without a lawyer present, you still have the right to stop answering at any time and speak with the lawyer. >> I will stop talking. >> Do you understand each of these rights I've explained to you? >> I I will have a lawyer present. Do you understand each of these rights I've explained to you? >> No, I don't because this is the like weird like >> ma'am. These are just your rights. They they're basic Miranda rights that every citizen >> Uhhuh. >> in the US has. >> So, I'm reading them to you and I want to make sure that you understand them before I speak with you. That is that is what's going on right now. Okay. >> Okay. >> You understand? >> No, I don't. >> What don't you understand? So, I may explain it to you. >> Um, I don't understand what you guys are doing. >> Okay. So I I I'm I'm explaining that to you. >> No, I have no idea. >> I I literally told you that I' I've concluded my traffic stop and I am trying to conduct a DUI investigation. >> Okay. >> Okay. So before I conduct my DUI investigation, I'm going to read you what your rights are. >> Okay. >> Okay. Because at any given time, you may stop speaking when being asked questions. Do you understand that >> she's not done stalling yet, and the officers know exactly what she's trying to do? I am not sure. No. >> What are you unsure of? >> What you guys are doing? >> I just told you to twice. >> What are you doing? What are you doing? >> I'm his backup office. >> What is this? Like, are you kidding me? >> He's conducting a DUI investigation. Ma'am, you understand that, right? >> Yeah, I understand. >> So, he's trying to read your Miranda warnings so that way you understand your rights. >> So, okay. >> That's that's that's all that's all I'm looking I feel like my rights are being um taken advantage of. >> How how how so? I'm I'm giving you your rights so that you understand what they are. I'm reading them to you. >> Okay. So, uh what's >> I'm letting you know what your rights are. How am I right now? What are you guys doing? Investigation. >> Okay. Investigation going on. >> You've been told four times. >> I understand that. >> Okay. Yes. And >> Okay. So, >> and you have rights like you said. So, I'm reading them to What uh what is the end of your investigation? >> Okay. So, what I'm asking is if you understand your rights that I've read to you about here. >> Okay. Yes. So, you understand? >> Yeah. >> Okay. You understand what I read to you? Okay. >> Uh no, I don't. >> We're going to start over. Okay. You have the right to remain silent. Do you understand what that means? >> No. >> Yes. Okay. Anything you say can will be used against you in the court of law. Do you understand what that means? >> No. Why not? So basically anything that you say after you agree to if you agree to speak with me after I read you your Miranda rights, okay, is admissible in a court of law. That's what that means. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> You have the right to talk to a lawyer and have a lawyer present with you while you are being questioned. Right? So after this, if you decide that you do not want to be questioned, right? >> Mhm. >> You may say that. >> Okay. >> You may plead. Okay. That's that's what that means. Okay. >> Okay. >> If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, one will be appointed to represent you before questioning. >> They've already told her the same thing three times. If she's pretending not to understand, the officers aren't going to play along much longer. You understand what that means? >> I don't I don't understand that. >> So So in the case, right, >> that you get arrested that >> I don't think there's any reason for me to be arrested. >> Listen to what I'm saying. I said in the case that you do get arrested or that you're being investigated or that you're being asked questions. >> I'm fine. >> Can you are you going to let me explain it to you because you don't understand that I'm trying to explain it to you, right? Okay. Okay. In the case that you are being questioned. >> Okay. for anything that has been alleged. >> You, okay, >> have the right to have a lawyer present with you while you are being >> I'll worry about that if that >> but I want to make sure that you understand that. >> Okay. >> Nope, I don't understand that. >> I just explained it to you. >> Okay. Well, I will deal with that if that >> ma'am, we will sit here all day until you understand. >> I don't >> Okay. >> I just want to go to my sister's house. I understand that. But right now, what I'm doing is I'm conducting a DUI investigation. If you become a cooperative >> and you deny, I'm going to have to go based on what I have so far. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, >> I feel like you guys have like better things to get after doing our job. >> Other than me, >> like I'm I'm literally not like what you guys are trying to do, >> honestly. >> Um I don't know. Like I you just like case up people. It's all good. Whatever you have to do, >> we just case up people. I have no idea what you're talking about, ma'am. Okay. Listen. Um I'm going to read you these rights, okay? And if you choose not to answer me, I'm going to take that as you're invoking a fifth amendment, right? Okay. And then I'll go from there. Does that make sense to you? >> Once again, the officer reads her Miranda rightites. This time they make it clear that it's her final chance to cooperate before things escalate further. Unfortunately, the woman seems set on doing the opposite. >> Okay, I'm going to attempt this one more time from the top. Okay, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can or will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to talk to your lawyer. Have a lawyer present with you while you are being questioned. If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, one will be appointed to represent you before questioning. If you decide to answer questions now without a lawyer present, you still have the right to stop answering at any time and speak with the lawyer. Do you understand each of these steps I've explained to you? It's a yes or no question. >> No. >> Okay. Having these rights in mind, do you wish to speak with me now? >> No. So, she hasn't vote. Okay. So, as of right now, ma'am, I'm going to ask you to place your hand behind your back. Okay. You're being detained. >> Okay. potentially driving under the influence. >> Oh my god, you guys are bored. >> Do you consent to a search of your vehicle? >> Uh, no, I do not. >> Okay. >> Absolutely not. >> Right. Cuz whatever you covered under that blanket, >> it doesn't matter. >> I don't consent. >> It's okay. box. This >> um I I can jump up in here if you undo. >> You need help? >> No. >> Ready? >> No, I can't undo this. >> Undo what? >> This thing. Like I'm not like some hardened criminal. >> My policy. Everybody. >> Okay. Well, you know what? Step back. >> You can throw me in there, I guess. >> Okay. How about we do this? I was trying to just be nice with you. >> Okay. I'm going to use the back and I'm going to pat you down. >> This is nice. >> Yes. >> What are you talking about? >> What do you What do you have in this pocket right there? >> My keys to my car. >> Okay. May I go in there and put them on top of the vehicle while you sit in my patrol vehicle? >> No, you can take this off. You can take this off. >> Yeah. >> Those are cut waters. Those are alcoholic. >> Huh? >> I told you you're not allowed to go into my >> One of those females. >> She may not be physically resisting, but her attitude says otherwise. The officers don't face a struggle getting her into custody, but keeping their patience with her mouth is another story. >> No, everybody, her policy, everybody. >> Ma'am, you're being detained. So So, so you're in handcuffs right now. Okay. I'm sorry. >> You are a loser piece of you know that. >> Take these off of me. I'm not going to attack you or do anything. >> Nope. >> I would hope not. >> Of course I won't. You're so stupid. Are you kidding me? Sam, face the vehicle. >> You face the vehicle. >> What do you think I'm doing? >> You kidding? Are you both kidding me? Like, >> doing our job, man. >> You little losers. Like, oh my god. Like, I hate it for both of you. Like, you like played video games like for fun your whole life and you are a first generation immigrant. Like, both of you. Oh my god. Like I hate it for both of you. Honestly, like this is absolutely ridiculous. I hate it for you guys. I'm so sorry. A I'm sorry. Your parents barely speak English and you're from Cuba or Puerto Rico. You just like grew up playing video games or whatever you do. >> You're like breathing hard like what the >> Jesus Christ. You guys are like >> 1. >> You guys are next level. >> Do you have anything on you that's going to poke me, stick me, and stab me? Face this way. Okay, ma'am. If you don't comply, okay, I'm going to take that as resisting. Okay. And force may be used upon you, okay? Ma'am, if you don't stop, you will be directed. Get your hands out of my [ __ ] Get your hands out of me. You want to kick in the [Music] >> With no female officer on duty, the male officers do their best to keep things respectful during the search. Once again, however, the woman's constant push back complicates the situation further. Okay. >> Yeah. >> Is this is this key in the zipper or or where? >> Stop, ma'am. Stop >> right now. Stop. Okay, >> that's just the key. It's fine. It's fine. >> I don't have weapons, you idiot. >> We have to check before we place. >> All right, move your hand back. >> Oh my god. Like you, >> ma'am. Listen, >> calm the down. >> Listen, I'm going to ask you this one time. >> Step against the vehicle. >> No, I'm not going to do anything. >> Step against the vehicle. Nope. >> And separate your legs. >> No, ma'am. No. >> No. No, >> ma'am. Listen. Stop. Okay. Stop. >> No. No. No. >> All right. Now, now you're getting a resisting charge as well. All right. >> No. >> I think put in the vehicle, right? >> No. No. No. >> I'll get on. I'll get on the >> No. >> Get up. >> No. No. No. No. No, no, no, no. You're good. You're good. There you go. >> Come on. >> There you go. >> Ow. >> Ow. >> She just hit you. >> She headbutted me. >> Okay, we'll do buckle her. We'll go down a supplement. >> I didn't hide by you. I saw >> The woman's actions throughout the stop led to a long list of charges, including obstruction, resisting arrest, DUI, battery on an officer, and several driving infractions. Number one, how a broken headlight led to a whole lot more than a warning. In our last stop, officers spotted a vehicle without headlights. Here's what happened when officers confronted the driver. >> Good evening, ma'am. >> Hi. >> How you doing? >> Good. I'm my driver. >> Good. I'm officer Slipper with Atlanta Police Department. The reason for the traffic stop this evening is because you have no lights on. >> Oh, I'm so sorry. >> No worries. You have your driver's license on you? >> I do. >> Let me take a look at it real quick. Okay. We'll get you out of here. >> Coming home from work? Yeah. Can you just roll down that window uh for my partner? >> Yes. >> Thank you. >> The the passenger window. Can you roll down the passenger window? >> I'm sorry. >> Good evening. How are you? >> Hi. I'm so sorry. >> A lot of people don't even know I'm here. >> You're fine. >> Do you not have your driver's license on you? >> I do. I do. >> Did you stop anywhere before you uh left work? I >> went to a friend's house. >> Okay. >> And I'm so sorry. Um, >> why are you sorry? >> I'm trying to find it. >> And I'm so sorry. >> Shut the car off. >> Okay. Do you own the vehicle? >> I do. >> How much have you had to drink tonight? >> Uh, not that much. I'm I'm sorry. >> November. Where is your driver's license? Can you find your driver's license for me? >> Yeah. >> Well, I don't know why you're not looking for it. >> All right. >> It's a traffic stop. >> I am. >> Okay. Find your driver's license. >> Ma'am, do you have any weapons in the car? >> No. No. >> You've been arrested for DUI before? >> No. At this point, it's a straightforward traffic stop. All they're asking for is her license and proof of insurance. If she stays calm, this ends without a problem. >> Here you go. I'm so sorry. >> Why are you sorry? Why you keep saying that? >> Because I don't want to do this. >> Don't want to do what? >> I I My mom worked for OPD for very many years. >> Okay. And I am not >> well >> and just >> I get it. But >> you want to go home? >> Yeah. I don't think >> and go to bed. >> Well, I don't think you're capable of driving a vehicle right now. >> Do you live with anyone at home? >> No. >> What? No. >> No. If I have to give my car right now, >> it's fine. >> Please. >> Do you know how to do all the tests? No, I was going to say >> um can you just do me a quick favor, lette so I can run your uh driver's license and stuff? Just do me a favor to step out of the vehicle for me. >> Okay. >> What are you trying to do? >> Listen, step out of the car. >> But what are you trying to do? >> Because I'm able to get you out of the vehicle on a traffic stop. Step out of the car right now. Okay. Thank you. >> Can you just go stand over there? Thank you. >> What? >> Just hang out right here. Okay. Are you good with her for a second? Let me just run. I'd really like to know what this is because now I >> drunk driving is drunk driving whether it's one block or 10. The officers are trying to make that clear, but based on her attitude, it seems the woman thinks her mother's old position with the police gives her a free pass. >> No, my mom. No, my mom worked for OPD for 27 years. I'd really like to know what this is, please. >> It's a traffic stop now. >> Okay, but what are we doing right now? >> My partner is concerned about your ability to operate the vehicle. >> Great. And I said that I would leave this car and walk home. >> Okay. So, what are we doing right now? >> We're continuing our investigation. >> Okay. But if I say I'm abandoning my car. >> No, it doesn't work like that. >> Great. Can I contact my mother >> right now? >> Not at the moment. You said she worked for the department for how long? >> 42 years. >> She worked for the department for 42 years. >> Yes. >> She was a officer. She worked for uh she was a OPD office. She was a No. >> We're not doing this. >> Are we serious right now? >> Serious about what? >> All I want to do is go home. >> Okay. So, our concern is that you might have had too much to drink. >> Great. That's fine. And all I want to do is walk home. Okay. Well, that's not an option. >> You would think by now she gets the situation, but that couldn't be further from the truth. >> Okay. Well, so I just would like to contact my mother. >> Okay. Gotcha. >> Who worked for OPD for 27 years. >> That's fine. Unfortunately, that's not an option either. Okay. So, we're not going to let you call anybody. We're on a traffic stop conducting an investigation. Um, I guess you were stopping. Um, can I just leave the vehicle and walk home? >> No. I just told you that 10 seconds ago. Cannot do that. >> Why? >> Well, one, it's illegally parked. Two, we're conducting an investigation. >> So, these officers, as well as myself, just talking to you for 2 minutes believe that you have too much to drink tonight. >> Yes, I understand that. And that's why I'm saying, can I please just And I'm not trying to be I just I just want to go home. >> Okay. On a scale of 1 to 10 where 10 is falling over drunk. One's not at all. Where do you think you are? >> I am a five. >> Okay. What were you drinking? >> Where? >> No, no, no. What were you drinking? >> Oh, what? Uh, just beer. >> Okay. How many beers did you have? >> Like four. >> So, you feel like you're safe to drive? I I would not say I'm take triumph obviously because you guys do not think that. I obviously just want to go home. >> I got you. You okay? >> And yeah. No, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I just want to go home. Honestly, I just want to go home and I want to be like at home right now. >> Okay. Well, I want to be at home, too. Unfortunately, >> she's clearly intoxicated and the message isn't getting through. The officers are explaining what she did wrong, but for the woman, it's all just an inconvenience. >> And I I'm not saying that I'm okay to drive home. That's not what I'm saying. Is I'm saying I just want to walk home. >> Okay. >> And if I have to surrender my car, >> that's fine. Surrender it. >> Whatever you have to do to it. >> Gotcha. Okay. >> Fine. >> Hang out with these officers for a bit. >> Jesus. Okay. Why is this a thing that I am saying? >> Calling >> your your colors. >> Come on. >> No. I hate this country because this is I just >> that you're operating a vehicle without the lights >> giving you rights to my vehicle and I am so we don't want the rights to your vehicle and you guys are still giving me >> why no one's giving me >> why why are you still giving me about my life. >> So, that being said, ma'am ma'am ma'am ma'am, >> focus. >> I'm I'm getting a cat. >> Well, I don't need you to get a cat. >> Don't need you to get a cat. >> So, I'm getting a cat. >> Get a cat. That's not your cat. >> Oh, jeez. >> Okay. So, based on our observations, I'd like to request you do field sobriety exercises to determine if you're safe to operate a motor vehicle. >> I am driving. >> I just told you I'm not. >> Okay. Again, >> I'm trying to >> opportunity to complete some field sobriety exercises to dispel my fear. No, you've uh berated my partner by calling him 20 years old and you've undermined uh my partner and I's discretion and they stop. >> But you guys just >> we did our job >> because I tried to talk to a cat. >> So I'm going to ask you again. Would you be willing to do the field soiety exercises that I've requested of you? >> No. >> No. Do you understand that your refusal can be used against you in a court of law? >> Do you understand?
