I cleared tonight. After putting the officers through her roller coaster of emotions, the suspect was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. Number four. This traffic stop escalated fast, thanks to one bad attitude. On July 30th, 2024, officers on patrol spotted a vehicle swerving across lanes and even trying to challenge their patrol car. Here's what happened when officers finally stopped the driver. How you doing? I'm all right. I'm Officer Barry with the Point Pleasant Department. You're being audibly and visually recorded. Good. Everything all right today? Everything all right today? Good. All right. Reason I'm stopping you is the uh careless driving. Swerving into parking spots. Aggressively riding up onto me. Accelerating. I'm harassing you? Okay. Why'd you stop for me to go forward? Okay. Okay. I need your license, insurance, and registration. Nope. I need your license, registration, and insurance. Okay. Thank you. This is a temporary insurance. Okay. Okay. No. I really don't care. I do. State laws require that you have to hand me over your license when I ask. She immediately meets officers with sarcasm and attitude, but the officer quickly makes it clear that that approach isn't going to work. On motor vehicle stops, so if you want to call your lawyer and ask about that, that's fine. Thank you. I know you know. Do you have a registration for this vehicle? Yeah, I do. Can you hand me the insurance card? Well, I don't know where it is. Okay. That's the problem. All right. It's not my car, sir. It's not. It's not registered under my dad. I understand that. Okay. So I don't have my phone on me. No, you don't have to. Just do me a favor, look for it, and I'll be right back, all right? I don't know It's not in my car. Okay. So, how am I going to look for something that I don't even know where it is? Good idea. I don't know. Exactly. All right. So, should I call him? Go ahead. Okay, stay in the car. Stay in the car. Cuz I'm telling you to. 31 Stay in the car. I am. Got it. Yeah, can you check the area of the high school for a juvenile in a green shirt? >> Stay in the vehicle. NO, I WANT TO CALL MY FATHER. I want to get the registration. I don't know where it Don't you laugh at me. Get back in the vehicle. I have no choice. Get back in the ve- I don't care. I told you I don't care. Get back in the car. I I want to Get back I I You're not going anywhere till I'm done with you. SO, GET BACK IN THE CAR. NOW. NOT AN OPTION. SAYS WHO? ME. Who are you? I didn't do anything. Get back in the car. Yeah, I will. When I do tell me what I did wrong. Get back in the car. >> When you tell me what Get back in the car. Cuz I'm telling you. I don't need to give you a reason. Get back in the car. The suspect's refusal to cooperate keeps wearing down the officer's patience and just when things seem under control, she suddenly makes a move no one saw coming. Do what? Get back in the car. Sit in the car. Sit in the car. I'm ordering you to cuz I'm telling you to. >> Okay, then then why are you pulling me over? I told you to. Careless driving. Okay. No registration, careless driving. Swerving into parking spots. Try to get behind her. Nine points. Last one was careless in January of this year. So going to get her careless, failure to provide reg. Probably just give her a careless mailer, a couple other ones. Probably figure it out. I'm not going to sit out here the whole time with her. She wants to continue to uh get out of the vehicle. This is getting your foreign now. Suspect's pulling in the area of South and Do you want me to get her? She just took off on us. Yeah? The suspect suddenly takes off running, seemingly hoping to outrun the situation, but officers are already one step ahead. Can Can grab that for me? Thank you. Yeah, she just took off on foot, honestly. Stay right there. What did I do? YOU GRABBED MY CAR. OUT WITH HER. It's not my car. Stand up. Why? You're being detained right now cuz >> Why? you can't sit still. Because I'm on seizure medicine, sir. I'm on medication. Look at my bruise. >> Okay. From brick Okay. Yeah. Thank you. Stop resisting. I'm not resisting, sir. >> You're pulling away from me. I'm not resisting. Can you tell him I'm not resisting? You were pulling away from me. >> pulling away. What do you mean? You know you're not free to leave on a traffic stop, right? It was my car. It wasn't my car. I couldn't find the registration. So you run? Well, I didn't know what else to do. You sit there and you wait and you talk to us like a Well, I didn't know cuz it's not my car. It's not your first time being pulled over, though. But it's not my car. >> What difference does it make? Cuz I driving a motor vehicle. It doesn't matter. I didn't know that. Well, you don't. Open the door. >> Cuz I don't usually drive other people's cars. So no, I don't know that. What are you going to do? Take me back to the hospital or jail? I'd rather go to jail. We'll figure that out. Cuz I already set my appointment up with behavioral health. For what? For IOP program. I just got out of hospital. Yeah, I just got out. I got a nice bruise on my arm from brick. Are you going to do that to me again? We're not going to do that to you. All right, stop. Because I don't want people to harass me anymore and I feel the cops are Because they've been doing this my whole life. It's not my driving. So what? People are 22. You don't need that. That's all. Now back in custody, the suspect tries talking her way out of trouble, but the more she explains, the deeper she digs herself in. With my driving? Oh, and what are you What would you be if you were a genie in a bottle? What is a genie in a bottle? >> Yeah, you tell me. Why don't you read a book? Going this way. I didn't know where I was going. >> Watch your head. Try not to >> No, you can just leave it like that cuz my wrists are fine. Come back out of the car. What? You're not going to hurt my wrists. THEY'RE FINE. I'M NOT GOING NOWHERE. RELAX. >> LISTEN. LISTEN. NO, YOU'RE NOT HURTING MY WRISTS. YOU ALREADY HURT MY ARM, OKAY? YOU SEE THAT NICE BRUISE right there? >> Double locked. YOU CAN DOUBLE LOCK ANYTHING. JUST DON'T HURT MY WRISTS. WE DON'T lock you. THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT. GOD! THAT'S WHAT I'M TRYING TO SAY. NOBODY'S TRYING TO HURT YOU. I I DIDN'T SAY YOU WERE. >> WELL, you're yelling at me. Well, you're putting the cuffs on me. This is tight. Listen, I want to make sure you're comfortable. I'm not trying to make this worse. Yeah. All right, let's go then. Come on, so I can see the doctor and see this, see that, and see who is here. COME ON, LET'S GO. NO, I can't. I need my medicine. >> What is going on? I need my epilepsy medication. >> Is it in your bag or is it in the car? It's at my house. I got TO GO AND GET IT, AND THAT'S WHERE I WAS GOING, AND THAT'S WHY I'M DRIVING THAT WAY because I need TO GET MY MEDICATION. AND YOU GUYS ARE NOT HELPING RIGHT NOW. >> TAKE A BREATH. NOBODY'S YELLING AT YOU. I'M NOT trying to yell. I just can't help it. Take a breath. We'll get you what you need. Can Can you get my phone? Yeah. No, like I need to call my Everything's coming with you. All right, you can take me to jail cuz I'd rather go there. Well, we'll figure that out. By the time officers finish processing the arrest, the suspect is left facing charges for disorderly conduct, obstruction, and resisting arrest without violence. Number three.
