These employees knew how the system worked, so they tried to work it and still got caught. Here are five cases when dumb managers got busted stealing on the job. Number five, airport employee takes finders keepers too seriously. On June 7th, 2025, a call brought officers to Tampa International Airport over claims that an employee was trying to take a passenger's lost wallet. Here's how the conversation went when the officers made contact with the suspect. >> Eloy. >> Yes. >> Hey, sir. Officer here. >> How are you? >> All right. I just want to start off. Do you know any reason why I would want to talk to you? >> No. Not at all. >> No. Okay. So, we're investigating a a stolen wallet. >> Okay. >> Here at the airport. >> Absolutely. >> Okay. Do you know anything like that? >> Yeah. I looked through the wallet and I found one. I put it in my locker. >> You found a wallet? >> Yeah. It was a It was a guy's a wallet, but I was going to make sure that the managers. >> Okay. Did you Did you notify anybody about it? >> No, I haven't noticed none of my managers. >> Okay. All right. Um, in that case, >> yeah, let's go get it. Okay. >> Did you uh >> Did you go up through it or anything? >> Nope. >> Okay. >> All right. >> Why didn't you notify a supervisor? >> Well, I was basically, but I was busy working. This is mine's. >> That's what >> This is mine. This is >> That's yours. >> Yeah. >> So, basically, I was too busy working, so I wasn't I didn't have any time. So, I was running back and forth and stuff like that. So, I didn't get to basically go ahead and give it to the manager. >> So, >> all right. Well, it kind of puts us in a rock and a hard place. >> Okay. >> Because, you know, it's in your locker, your stuff's in it. That tells me you went through it. You opened it at least. >> Okay. >> All that. Would you be willing to come back to the station and provide a statement to us? I don't want to really up to you, right? I'm sitting in front of you. I mean, >> well, I'm trying to afford you that opportunity cuz it's just a little weird to us. >> Okay. >> I wish you would have told supervisor and that kind of then we wouldn't even be talking to you, right? >> The suspect is quick to deny taking the wallet, but officers have already spoken to his supervisor and it's clear he had no intention of reporting it in the first place. >> But I was busy. That's the whole purpose. >> What was your what's your policy on loss and fans? >> We have to retrieve it to our managers. cuz we have to let our managers know that we have it. But I was basically walking around and doing everything that I >> Where did you pick it up at? >> It was over there by the It's considered the it's the it's by like it was on seat. >> Mhm. >> So I picked it up. I said, "Okay, cool." And then I was so busy running around the airport and basically helping out. So I just knew what I came back and just get a statement from We'll >> talk about it further down there. You're good. Just follow me over and we're just going to come right in here, man. >> Just have a seat up here. All right. >> So, I just I need you to uh fill out a statement here. Fill it out to the best of your ability. Um, you have a pen? >> No. >> Before letting the suspect continue with his statement, the officer reads him his rights, clearing the way for what's likely to be a much more difficult conversation. >> Okay. And before you do that, I got to read you your rights because I got to ask you some follow-up questions. And no problem. >> By reading your rights, you know, I got to let you know, >> it may elicit a criminal in uh response. Okay. >> Okay. Okay. So, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. You have the right to consult an attorney with you. Uh make any statement or answer any question and the right to have an attorney present during questioning. If you want an attorney but cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed to represent you before and during questioning free of charge. You may use any of these rights at any time before or during questioning. You may stop the interview at any time. >> Okay. >> Do you understand these rights? >> Yep. >> Okay. Are you willing to answer any questions, make any statements without an attorney being present? >> No, not at all. >> Okay. Has anyone threatened you, coerced you, or promised you anything to cause you to answer any questions or make any statements? >> Not at all, sir. >> Okay. So, you don't want to make any you don't want to make a statement? >> I mean, unless I'm being booked for something necessarily, I wouldn't want to answer any questions necessarily. >> Cuz right now, it seems like you're charging me for finding something. >> No, I'm just trying to ask you questions and all that, right? If I can't ask you anything further, >> but you already offered me a statement. I mean, >> yeah, I'm asking you to do a statement, >> right? I haven't read a statement, but it seems like I'm If you have to read my rights, then most likely I'm >> Well, I want to ask you some more questions. That type of thing. >> Okay. >> But before I do that, I got to read you your rights and you got to understand you got to be willing to cooperate, talk, >> right? But if I'm going to get questioned any further, I rather ask for my lawyer if I'm already if I'm charged with anything. So, >> all right. >> Appreciate you. >> Do you want to fill out a statement then? >> I mean, yeah. I could just state that I found your found this wallet. >> All right. Now, what I'm going to ask you to do is stand up, turn away from me, and put your hands behind your back. Okay. 144. >> The cuffs are on, and while the suspect is silent for now, it doesn't take long before he starts defending himself again, insisting he never meant to hide the wallet. But the officers have already heard enough. >> You need two sets of cuffs. That good. >> Unfortunately, man, you I I wish you would have made contact with the supervisor and notified that we wouldn't even be in this position right now. >> Yeah, but obviously like your managers. I mean, I'm not I'm not mad at the situation or stuff like that. I didn't do anything necessarily. All I did was retrieve it, >> but it's it's in your possession and somebody reported it stolen >> and your stuff is in it. >> It's stolen, but it's it's not I didn't steal anything. I mean, I was working, so I didn't have the chance to get it to my manager. >> Thing also is that the information desk is right there on the transfer level, and you could have handed it to them or somebody else and been like, I found this wallet. Um, here it is. And then obviously you were on break so we know you took your break and you didn't hand it in at that time. >> No, I just I have a short I have short concentration so I basically was running around. >> Everything's going to go into the property and that's >> No, you're good. That's >> all right. >> You just turn Could you open your mouth out? >> Okay. >> I just want to make sure. So, it'll be in our lost and found office here. So, when you get released, you can come to the lost and found and it'll be um in our storage. >> How will my manager know if I'm being booked or anything? >> We're going to make contact with them. >> All right. >> Yeah, but this is I mean, what's what am I going to be in charge for? >> It's going to just be petty theft. >> Yeah. >> The officers have heard plenty of excuses, but his next question still manages to throw them off. Even if the associate even if the Even if the customer or the client finds it and I'm still I'm still going to be charged with petty theft. So if they go to court and they charge and they say they >> it's in your possession, man. They reported it still. >> No, no, no. I understand that it's petty theft. I get it. >> Grab it. You just failed to report it. >> I get it. Yeah, that's the whole situation. I understand that. I'm not like a criminal in a sense. I'm not I'm being booked for petty theft, but I mean I just want to make sure my stuff is straight. >> Yeah. It'll be right outside in our office out here. >> Okay. So, >> once you get back, just go to the lost and found and they'll have it all. >> That's mine. That's the >> This is all >> She's going to take care of all that. All right. >> It's going to get in on the other side and buckle you in. >> Yeah. Go. It's not clear if he knows there's a body cam in the cruiser, but the suspect begins speaking out loud. First, quietly to himself, then directly to the officer nearby. >> Petty death. See like he just stole a brick. Like what? Black man, right? He just said, "I just found it away." No, wait. Here. The money still in the pocket. That's what I just put my stuff in there just to make sure that he got his [ __ ] So they thought he was going to leave with it. So they trying to catch it. your locker. Technically, they wasn't even able to go in there. They just said, "But they did." >> So, what was the story behind the whole thing? >> The wallet. >> What' you say? >> What was the whole story behind the whole wallet situation? >> Um, >> so you guys had to go over to the location, say, "Hey, somebody reported it stolen." So, my manager showed you guys the videos and then you guys came and approached me. No, we we watch videos ourselves so we can see everything on it and then we figured out where >> So when a person says, "Oh, my stuff is stolen." He just reports it and say, "Hey, this is where I left it." >> Yeah. So then we went and looked and there was saw there. >> You had to see me. >> We did. And that's how we found you, >> right? >> Yeah. It's like short of a go. I would have just gave it to them. They like home run. You guys got it. Well, not me. That's the whole purpose of it. If it would have made it to my office, it would have been straight. >> Yeah, >> that's Yeah, >> the fact that there's such a huge time lapse doesn't help anything else. >> No, it doesn't really matter. I mean, the judge says that the judge gets to see it. >> We're just doing our job and then the judge does his portion. >> Yeah, I know. >> It's petty theft in the fertile building. Like, well, it's petty theft. >> It's still petty theft. Think about, okay, petty thrust, first charge, never got in trouble. Nope. They gonna put me on probation. >> 30 mileage. >> From his demeanor alone, it's obvious he doesn't think this arrest will lead to anything serious. But what he says next leaves even the officers taken aback. >> I got to find another job. >> No, >> I'm out of here. Once you talk to the judge, they could be like, "Oh, maybe it was a mistake." >> No, it is because the thing about it is when you think about it, it is a mistake. But I said it like it's not like I I just found like >> that's why when a judge going to look at it like, "Okay, I'm a federal judge. What is the situation?" Okay, cool. Case number such and such. What was that whole item? Petty theft. It's a pocketbook with $1 135 or $150. Oh, really? Okay, sir. Do you know the the the the the the the uh the sovereignity of your crime? Yes, sir. No, sir. Not on my right. So, obviously, like you're not going to sentence me to like 7 years in prison. >> Sir, I can't hear you. I can't hear you. >> No, I get it. I get it. I lost a job, but they're not going to make me like go to jail like prison. If I would have found a gun, then I would have been like, "Oh my god." >> I just shook it like, "Oh, snap." >> That's a simple mistake. >> That was really like a simple mistake. >> According to reports, the suspect claimed he planned to return the wallet, but officers discovered some of his personal items stashed inside it. His supervisor also confirmed that he had been on break before the police arrived. He was transported without issue and was later charged with petty theft. Number four, smoke shop manager gets arrested after skipping court on a $2,000 case. On January 1st, 2025, officers were dispatched to a smoke shop after a report of employee theft. To make matters worse, the alleged suspect turned out to be the manager himself. Here's how things unfolded. Hey, is it a manager in the manager? >> He's not. >> Oh, you are? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Can I speak to you in the back? >> Uh, it's about one of the house. I I think he's your employee. Oh, you can go. Oh. Oh, I thought so. You know you got a one. >> Yes, >> you do. >> Yeah. >> All right. Well, we got to probably ain't going to go nowhere, but >> I um >> No, no. Turn around in the front. >> I um got with Chapman to uh get it removed. >> Who? >> Uh Chapman's uh say um law firm or whatever. >> Okay. >> But I'm making payments. They want 3,000. So, I only made a payment of a,000. >> What we'll what we'll do is we'll try to somebody else here. >> I'm the only one here. >> So, if possible, is it anybody else that can come? >> I can call my one of my bosses and see if they can. >> You got your phone on? >> Yeah. This one right here. >> Oh. >> Oh, man. >> We going to see though. >> Goodness gracious. I might have to take you out. I'm going to take you out of color. What you got to >> I ain't aware nothing. I apolog. >> While he's not suspected of stealing from the shop he currently manages, his past caught up with him. He's facing charges from a prior job involving $2,000 in theft. And because he missed his court date after bonding out, officers were left with no choice but to take him in again. >> Hey, I'm sorry. I um >> I had him in cuffs. Okay. Uh yeah, I'm calling to confirm the warrant. >> You didn't Hold on. I have the warrant number 105 one time. Let me >> Oh, cool. Okay. So, buy 25%. >> So, should I get six? >> Might as well. I'll let you pick one. >> Yeah. Yeah. So, I'mma let him check out this last customer. You lock up the store and then I'll let him call his supervisor to come reopen up the store. Do I have any rewards yet? >> Just because I'll take it. I'll take it. >> Give me a reason to come back. Since the suspect remains cooperative, the officer takes the time to calmly explain why he's being detained, reminding him that skipping court and failing to handle his bond are exactly what brought him into custody. >> Okay. Okay. So, I confirmed it, >> but we going to have to probably call your boss and then let him come. And I just tell him it's a misunderstanding with the paperwork. So he won't think >> anyway like I was literally I can show you. I've been making famous payments the chat man. That's just literally I didn't have the whole 3,000 all at once. >> I mean they >> I've been in contact with the James Bond literally I can show you my message. I'm texting them today right now. >> I mean they don't communicate with us but I called the I called the courts. Like I said you'll be able to get back out >> cuz it's a preset Yeah. It's a preset bond. It's the same. It's the same bun. >> Whatever you paid the first time. >> I think I got a receipt. >> Please. Yeah. But that's all it is. I mean, >> practice tomorrow. I just signed to a semi-pro football team. >> Oh, well, congratulations. >> Good gracious. >> Okay. >> That's what somebody paid. >> Yeah, I think I >> um but you'll be out too. >> Um >> Wow. >> So, I'm I'mma lock the door. So want nobody else for sure >> cuz I don't you know but like I say I mean it's a it's a small little situation. Um with it being a the small little no insurance. You already got the preset but bun. Oh your phone. >> Oh my bad. My bad. I forgot I had Oh my phone. >> I'm put these on in front of you. Oh yeah, >> you going to sit in the front seat with me. I ain't going to do the back. But just tell them it's a I would say it's a emergency, a little family emergency or whatever. I mean, cuz you'll be out in a few hours. >> Before proceeding, the officer allows the suspect to call his boss, giving him the chance to explain what's happening and arrange for someone to cover his shift. See, I loosen it up for you. Oh, wait. Hey, I have a dilemma right now. So, I have apparently I have a warrant now. So, I have to go down there and so go to jail, pay for it, and then they'll let me back out. And the guy is being gracious now to allow somebody to come. But hey, I got to go. to go take take care of that right now. >> You want me to speak with you? >> Nobody want to talk to >> Hey. Hey, boss man. >> It's a female. >> Oh, man. Hey. Sorry. Sorry. Uh, so I'm an investigator. Um, my future investigator. He just has a little misunderstanding with his paperwork for Cob County. >> With no more business to handle at the scene than the shop owner already informed, the officer moves forward with taking the suspect to the station. Um, >> like I say, you'll be out in about two two hours. What I would do while we sitting down there, I'mma get you to uh call somebody to go ahead and start the process. It's uh with uh a second chance bell bun. >> I'm trying to make this fast. You got the key, right? >> Yeah. Let's try one. >> Okay. Okay. I'm going to go ahead and put you in cuz I don't want them, you know. Right. >> You work here so I don't want nobody to see you. >> Oh yeah. You just get in the passenger seat right here. Over here. So I I got to go down to to some other what's it called? A warrant like a what is what's the what's the >> A second chance. >> A second. >> You got to take a picture of transport. I have wrong way. Hold on. All right. And can you get me one? >> All right. One more. >> Be cheesing, man. >> All right. I'll be right back. >> All right. >> He got a He's got his boss going to come by the uh the thing and get the key. Okay. >> Cuz he the only one with the key. Yeah. Think you got to go top. The suspect's arrest was tied to past theft allegations, but after verifying key information and cleaning up the records, he's been released with a $3,000 bond still pending resolution. Number three, 7-Eleven cashier tries a quick money scheme at work and instantly regrets it. On April 11th, 2023, officers were called to a 7-Eleven after a report came in about an employee allegedly stealing during their shift. When the authorities arrived, store management was already waiting to walk them through what happened. >> So, the guy up front, >> he's got him. >> We're still he's been short. How much are you short now? >> 36. Maybe $6, >> right? And he started watching video and he has it. We found a couple so far where you can visibly see him putting the money in his pocket. >> Okay. >> Um, let's just do >> Are you guys wanting to pursue criminal charges? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> And then he's going to pocket that part. >> Okay. >> And then there's another incident. We're still looking for it. >> As of right now, there's just the two. This one and this one. Correct. >> He has these two, but I didn't realize they were 10 minutes off from that video. from this video. But for right now, those are the two right now that I know of. >> Is this supposed to be 49 or is this 39? >> Okay. >> I just want to make sure it's all >> Yeah. >> So, these this is the same incident. It's just that it's on a different >> Yeah. I'm just try to find here. >> Perfect. Okay. >> With the paperwork underway and management giving their account, another officer is already with the suspect asking questions to better understand his side. Hey boss, come here for a second. Hey, come here for a second. Fire. >> You're not leaving right now. You're not free to go. Come on out here. Come on out here. >> You don't get weapons, firearms, anything like that on you? >> No. >> Okay. Come on over here. Talk to me. Can't leave after you talk to me. Not for you to go. You understand that? Okay. Everybody back over here. >> Your dad. What happened? in the car accident. >> Okay. Okay. >> All right. Do you know why I'm out here? >> No. I have a feeling though. >> Okay. You have any firearms weapons on you? No. >> Okay. Just put your hands kind of over there. I'm just going to put your backpack over to the side. All right. Let's set this down. Just relax your arms. Relax, man. I just got to talk to you. Okay. Let me read you something first. Okay. And then if you want to be honest with me, I'll work with you. Just give me some space. I don't like >> Oh, I'll be I'll be real. I'm tired. No idea. >> All right. But let me read you something. Okay. does not mean you're going to jail or anything like that. I just have to advise you of some rights. >> I appreciate honesty. You know, that's always the best course of action. So, before we ask any questions, you must understand your rights. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court. You have a right to talk to lawyer for advice before you ask any questions and to have them with you during questioning. If you can't afford a lawyer, one will be appointed for you before answer any questions if you wish. If you decide to answer questions now, the lawyer present, you still right to stop answer at any time. You also have the right to stop answer any time until you talk to a lawyer. Do you understand what I read you? >> Yes. >> Okay. With that being said, are you willing to talk to me about this? >> What's going on here? >> Can you say yes or no? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Why do you think I'm here? >> Cuz I have took some money. >> Okay. That that's why I'm here. >> Yeah. >> Like I said, doesn't mean we're going to take you to jail, but um >> Do you know how much you took? >> I honestly don't. But I can tell you the reason I took it and >> but I cannot go to jail. I promise. I >> Well, I didn't say you would. >> Yeah. Right now, what I see, it may or may not rise to that. It may just be a court date, but I don't know. >> In just 2 weeks on the job, the employee managed to steal over $1,000. But rather than taking responsibility, he's prepared to defend and justify what he did. >> So, I took some money, right? >> Okay. >> I am currently in college. Sure. >> But don't cook me. >> My dad My dad is single >> and he has to pay for college for all of us. So, it's kind it's kind of struggling. >> I got you. >> So, I owe some in order for me to continue to go to college. >> You got your ID on you? >> I'm just going to give this officer so we can put you in the call. >> So, was it like to continue your education? >> Yes. >> That's why I took it. I I I probably took no less than I don't know probably under a,000 I think. >> Right. >> So, I can I can pay it back however, but I can't I have like I'm this close to finishing school. >> Okay. We'll figure it out. We'll see what's going on. I'm gonna see what the store wants to do and everything. I I do have you on video taking some of it. I don't know the whole amount. >> Two two different days that I've seen so far. Just keep your hand out of your pocket. >> I know you don't have these things and stuff like that. I appreciate you being honest with me. >> Yeah, man. I um um what I did was stupid and you know, I I take full responsibility. >> What are you taking in school? computer information technology. >> Okay, >> that's a good field to be in. >> Yes. >> Well, hang tight. We'll figure out what's going on. >> Like I said, you're just being detained for now. You're not under arrest. I don't know if any of that would arise to anything that would need that. Sometimes what happens is you get arrested on scene, released on scene with a court date, but let me see what the store wants to do. Okay. >> You ever been arrested before? >> Okay. >> I don't know. Nothing like that. Is your dad really in a car wreck or he just trying to leave because of this? It's all right. I'm It's not going to change what I'm going to do. >> Yeah. No, he wasn't. >> I didn't I didn't think so. >> I was just nervous. >> I don't blame you. >> I should have I should have I should have told him, but I did it. But >> hey, mistakes happen. I I'll put it to you this way. It takes a big man admit when they're wrong. >> I I need the money, man. >> I got you. Well, bear with me. We'll see what's going on. Okay. Just to make sure nothing's been missed, the officers throw one more question his way before returning to the staff. >> You didn't take any currencies today? >> No. >> Okay. >> You're being honest and we appreciate that. Honesty goes a long way. >> It does. >> Right. >> You've already admitted, >> right? Don't stupid to make it go even worse. You know what I mean? >> I was just nervous. >> Don't be nervous. We're going to treat you like a man and stuff like that. >> I mean, I get it. Everybody's made mistakes. >> Yeah. 17 years of the first marriage. >> There you go. >> But we'll see what's going on with it. >> So, she can do first or second. Mhm. >> Her husband says she can't do third, which is why she can't look at these shoes. I say her constantly. I knew Eric. >> Yeah. You're done. >> Um, did you guys want to fire him? >> I just want to make sure on that. Um, >> yeah. >> He's only been with us for like two weeks. >> And then do you guys want him >> trespasser November Romeo Yankee first name Victor November Echo November Tango? download last video if you want6mail. >> Let him know one of them out there if he's not. >> He probably knows at this point. >> Or if you want to let Conrad know that >> the So the drawer was short like $460, $439 or something like that. But we can only confirm that he took 60 on that day. >> As of right now, we're going to look at the volume, but >> with everything they need from store management, the officers approach the suspect again. This time to place him in cuffs and get him ready for booking. Not right now. It's not >> Yeah. 10:15. >> Okay. >> All right. Anthony, you got to come with us. >> You got to come up for me. >> Oh my gosh. Yep. He's going to grab that. >> Just let him get your your car. Yeah. Nobody. >> Well, we'll we'll explain to you what they're saying. I'm going to put two of these cuffs on you just so it doesn't hurt your arms cuz you're a big guy, right? >> Okay. So, I I get the impression that they don't want to hear it. I understand the reasons what you've told me. >> Although I disagree with them, I understand them. >> I'll stand out like please talk to them. Like please. >> Okay. No, >> I'll bring one out here. >> Hang tight. >> But that that conversation will be very very short. I can tell you what they just told me. >> So you're fired and you're trespassed on the property. I don't believe they're going to be whatever story you provide is not going to be wellreceived. You see what I'm saying? >> Ask I would like to try it. >> Hold on. >> I'll ask if they want to, but they don't have to. >> He's going to go find out. >> Out of fairness, the officer asks if the staff would consider hearing the suspect out, but with over $1,000 missing, they've already made up their minds. He's >> He's requesting to speak with somebody to plead his case in hopes of not being arrested. >> Well, hang on. Hang on. >> Do you care to hear it? >> Sure, I don't care. He's going to get arrested regardless, so it doesn't matter if you hear it. Well, that that's the thing. I would I would if you don't if it's not going to change your opinion, there's no reason for him to talk to anybody. >> Cool. >> Okay. >> Are they double locked? >> They are. >> Okay. So nothing you say is going to change their opinion. >> Okay. >> He gave you his ID. >> Yeah, I have it. I have it in my left pocket. >> Where's your keys at? >> In your pockets or something? >> Oh, okay. >> I'll secure this in your vehicle. What all do you have? Let's walk out by your car. We'll figure out what you need. Okay. All right, man. Where are you? >> Okay. The gray car. Yep. Let's head over towards that. >> Put it in the bag. Anthony, is there anything in this I should be concerned with? Now walking past the suspect's vehicle, the officer picks up on another issue. One more mistake that likely won't help the suspect's situation >> right now. You parked at the same person. >> I got a handicap tag. >> Okay. >> Is it for you? >> My uh my little brother. >> If it's not for you, then you can >> how it works. I mean, my little my little brother goes to college with me. Do you need anything? What all do you have on? >> My wallet. My wallet. >> You going to take a wallet and phone with you? You want >> Okay. They're not going to let you take stuff like that. Take all this stuff with you. You have a cell phone. >> Got some cash, too. Okay. >> Anything else in your pockets? >> Not that I know. >> You want to take your cash with you? >> You going to help me get out? Yeah, that's probably a good idea. Put that in your wallet. >> Like that? >> Yeah. >> You think it's possible? I'll get out today. >> Yeah. >> We get you out of there fast enough. >> Yeah, cuz they're going to Yeah, I'll explain that to you. But yeah, there's an excellent chance that can happen. >> Got to go to first. >> Got keys. >> Yep. >> First appearance. >> Yeah. >> Unless you're able to bond out. On the way to the cruiser, the officer talks the suspect through the process, making sure he knows what comes after transport. >> So, we'll explain that to you. >> Yeah. So, this is what happens. >> We go back to our station. >> We already got basically the information from you. >> Yep. >> The officer types it up. >> I come in, I read it. >> Yep. >> It looks good to me. >> Yep. >> Uh, we didn't miss a compliment or something. >> Yep. You get taken out to the county where you get in process. If you're able to bond out, you can bond out from there. >> How much estimate? How much you think the bond is going to be? >> Uh I don't remember off top of my head. Changes a lot. >> Just on >> uh well bond is 10% of the well bond and then you can get a bail bondsman and that's 10%. which is like 150 bucks if you get a bail bondsman to uh approve to bond you out. Okay, >> I'll explain it again to you. >> As of right now, we're the only people who know about this. >> Yeah. >> I like my dad can't find out about this. I'm like >> we're not going to tell anybody. How old are you? >> I am 22. >> We're not going to tell him. He would have to do a lot of research to find that. You know, >> he's probably going to call my phone or some or something. >> Oh, yeah. >> Also, make sure that there's nothing on check again. >> And there's nothing. Are you wearing a belt? >> Nothing in your socks. >> Take this off. Get there, too. >> All right. Have a seat. >> Yep. >> Take your time getting in there. You're a bigger guy. Yep. Watch. put a seat belt on you just for safety and I'm going to turn the AC right on. >> Yeah, I'll explain you how you can as soon as we get my PD take those off, right? >> I'm going to just run him over there. >> The man was ultimately charged with theft of property by an employee. Number two, when someone in healthc care uses their access for all the wrong reasons. On January 7th, 2024, officers were called after staff reported a worker caught stealing thousands of dollars worth of controlled substances. Here's how the situation unfolded. >> Hi. >> Good. How are you? >> Good. >> All right. >> There you go. >> It's a warning county. I already verified it with dispatch, but I know you got call today and stuff. >> Yeah. They'll just have me confirm it and we want to get >> You want me to drink bottle water or something? >> No. just have one >> and I said I could keep this paper with me. Is that okay? >> Just numbers I have on it. >> Yeah. Yeah. What I'll do is I'll put it with your license here and >> that way I have one whenever I put >> Yeah. When you get in there they'll let you have to make phone calls and subs. >> Okay. Great. Thank you for >> blankie channel too. >> 1065 Florida number. >> So okay we done it with these clothes on. >> Yeah. >> Oh okay. >> Yeah. Like a like a haircut before they shot. You could see in my eye it looks >> I know. I saw it. >> Especially the that one. >> Yes. And I still see black spots and stuff. I thought I was going to leave behind me. >> Did you have to get any stitches right here? >> No. I'm surprised. They said I should have, but >> I don't see a scar. >> Well, that's I know. >> Your skin feel very good. >> Well, that's because there's there's this antibacterial spray >> temp. Thank you. I've warmed off now. 10:15 >> um at the moment, but it it literally will help wounds um >> it's like an antibacterial spray. It's um I can't think of it. I think it's actually D. You can find it anywhere, but it heals. >> Yes. And it's spray and it cleans wounds and it puts a sealant on it and you just you can spray it as much as you want and it really helps heal wounds >> like you wouldn't believe. And I think that's another reason why. >> Yeah. >> All right. So, the warrant is confirmed. Um, >> what's a good phone number for you? >> Um, uh, actually cuz my my phone broke. So, >> your brothers, >> uh, yeah. Um, >> what is it? I saw her. I wrote them all down. >> Though she exploited her previous position to steal elicit substances, the woman doesn't resist. Instead, she follows instructions as the officer begins walking her through the process. >> The screen went out on my phone a few days ago, >> so it I know. So, I've been having my phone. It's uh 32. That's my brother's phone number. So, you can always call for sure. >> And do you work currently? Do you have an occupation? Uh uh well uh >> Southwood. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Right now. Yeah. Till I got something. >> And what state were you going? >> Um believe it was North Carolina. That's my birth certificate. >> Okay. It's mint green. >> All right. Everybody's told to take everything off. You got no property on her except your driver's license and that piece of paper. Okay. So, all I have is >> he's going to handcuff you, put you back in the car, and literally just drive you across the street. >> Okay. >> Right behind you. >> Thank you so much. >> So, I just have you um pull your sleeves back. That'll make it easier. And just put the hands behind your back like it'll be the shortest drive you probably ever taken. So, >> okay. Palms palms together. Put your arms to me as much as you can like off your back. >> Sorry. Sorry. I have a bad >> How do you like that, my friend? >> Uh, it's okay. >> Sleep better. >> Uh, honestly, I prefer clock. >> Oh, man. >> Oh, man. That's what I said. There's nothing wrong with the old locks in the first place. >> And we'll just go to the passenger side. >> Left side. Yeah. >> I got the right side. >> Good. >> The woman was transported to the station without further incident, remaining calm throughout the process. >> You don't have anything in your jacket pockets? >> Nope. You can look. Oh, >> you're good. Okay. Go ahead and take a seat back here. >> Okay. >> Yep. >> What is it? You said I won't have to change. >> Um, are you paying your bond? >> Yes. Oh, >> okay. Yeah, you shouldn't have to. >> Yeah. So, Gotcha. >> Dispatch has been updated. Oh, she was formally booked on charges of grand theft involving a controlled substance and was later released after posting bond. Number one employee thought she outsmarted everyone. Then the police surprised her at work. Our last case takes us to a T-Mobile store where an employee thought she could get away with stealing iPhones for some quick money. Officers arrive and her supervisor wastes no time explaining what led up to the call. >> Yeah. Could you I mean, you're obviously familiar with it. Can you just run me through a quick brief? I had the report um but just so we have all our ducks. I don't know. >> Yeah. Um so throughout couple days now, she's been taking stuff um the last couple weeks. >> Okay. Total of 19 phones and one Apple Watch. So a total of 20 devices. >> Okay. >> Which is crazy. >> Yeah. >> Um >> it's pretty significant. So total is like what $20,000? >> Yeah. >> Cuz they're about $1,000 a piece. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Um takes two at a time, three at a time sometimes. And it's always when she's in the back alone. >> Okay. >> Um pockets it. We've been able to like track it but like >> haven't stopped it. Last one was I think Sunday. So this Sunday I just passed. >> Okay. So like the >> her next shift is today 9:30. She'll make it on time. She tends to like come in late sometimes. >> Okay. >> Nothing yet. But if she does come in late, she normally textes me like I'm running late, but nothing today. So >> Okay. >> You know what kind of car she drives? >> No, she gets dropped off though. >> Uh in the back door. >> All right. Um, have you guys like been able to figure out which serial numbers and the phones and you got everything? >> Okay. Because I don't know if it was given to the officer yesterday or not, but >> I don't have >> We'll probably need that. >> Pulled them up. Um, but corporate office down the street, they definitely have it, too. >> Okay. Yeah, we'll probably end up needing that >> at some point today. >> Um, >> I think it was uh her name is Anna who like handles everything. >> Okay. >> But >> that may have been who is that Ashley? >> Yes. >> Okay. Yeah, I guess she's the one that called yesterday. So hopefully she'll get all that to us. Um, what are your guys' intentions with her? >> Uh, no comment on that. I'm assuming press charges, but >> Okay. >> So then what we'll do when she comes in, we'll just we'll take her >> um we'll take her back, see if she'll interview >> and then hopefully she'll give up where these phones are and we can get them back. >> Um, >> the supervisor confirms that the employee wasn't scheduled to work that day. While the store hasn't yet decided whether to press charges, officers explain what steps can be taken in the meantime. >> We're just hoping. That's a hope, >> you know. >> So, I don't know if you guys are going to do something >> on the civil as aspect of it. You guys can figure that out. Um, but yeah, we'll take her if you guys are going to sign complaints and then >> we'll go from there. We'll try and get your phones back. >> Yeah. She worked here uh since June. >> June, >> end of May, early June. So, it's like fresh. And this just started this month. >> Yes. >> We normally Oh, I normally do like counts every other day just to like make sure inventory. We sell a lot of phones. Um >> my job is like part of my job is to count phones and I noticed it last two weeks Saturday, but we have a system glitch time to time where like doesn't ring out the phone. So, I played the waiting game and then I started to see those was more phones and I was like, "Hold up." >> Yeah. Yeah. >> When did she get the code? >> Uh, after she completed training, everyone has a code. >> Okay. >> Okay. Same individual pose for each person. >> Same code. >> She But she has permission to go into the safe phone for guests. Okay. >> All right. >> Does it lock out like the Do you have to wait 10 minutes? >> So, there's a 10-minute time delay. um on the right side. >> Yeah, >> I didn't know whenever I buy from you guys. >> Yeah, I know that. >> A lot of people think it is. It's literally 10 safe. >> I'll set it now. But the left side is no timer. So this one, all of our good stuff is here. Okay stuff is here. But we normally have like one of each device. >> Uhhuh. And sometimes we have like multiple devices on this side. But for the most part, she's seen taken from here, >> just the iPhones. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Um Samsung as well and Apple watches. Okay. >> But number of devices, 20. Okay. >> There was nothing complex about her approach. She targeted the store's phone vault and when no one was watching, quietly took devices, thinking the system wouldn't catch on. >> All right. Do you know if Ashley's going to be here today or not? >> She She's not. >> Okay, I'll reach out to her later on. >> She's actually looking at the camera footage. >> These phones haven't been activated or nothing like >> nothing. No usage on them. No, we tried I tried to see like it's like maybe system glitch but nothing. No serial number. Uh serial number is not even use. >> Okay. >> You had a flag. So, like if any phone was activated at some point, you get an alert or something like that or >> No, you just have to check it like check. >> Hey, there's no car. She just gets dropped off by somebody. >> Yeah. So, unknown what car though. >> Okay. All right. Bye. You guys are blooming down. >> Yeah. >> I feel like you stopped in here before. Incident. >> It may have been either an incident or personal. >> Personal, but definitely incident, I think. >> Yeah. Haven't had too many with you guys. Usually, it's something like significant like the people using a fake account to >> Yeah. Nothing crazy. Um, over my seven years, this has been like the craziest number of phones out. >> I mean, >> these safes have two different codes. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Two different codes. >> But she's got access to multiple. >> Yes. And she's only got access to these safes, not these safes. >> Okay. >> This is our cash. >> Yeah. Yeah. Okay. that's kind of easier to take. So, I only have that. >> Okay. >> Yeah. I I was able to watch back some of those videos, seeing that as she was able to open. She was taken from both. Yeah. >> The video confirms everything they need to know about how the phones were taken. Now, the officers are left with a harder task, figuring out how to recover them. >> What's in this one? Like newer phones? >> Uh, no. It's the exact same phones, but like I'll have like multiple quantities of phones. So like one iPhone here, but like I have 10 of these on this side. >> Okay. >> Right now I have nothing in the safe. But >> normally it's like a good double digit quantity. >> No, that makes it makes it easier. >> Little more details that we didn't have. Anybody else scheduled to work today? >> I'm sorry. >> Is anybody else? >> Um, two more people, but one is going to be opening. He's on his way. >> And then one closes tonight. >> Sorry. Two openers, one closer training. What's the typical like she walks in, she like walked somewhere to put her bag or something? >> Yeah. So, we'll leave the bags in the chairs. Um, clock in and essentially open the store, get like the store ready for the day. Um, move some phones over. Um, but I already like do them in the morning when I get here and then um just wait to service customers and >> do you have a good address for her? >> I can call him up. >> Yeah. I just want to verify some info with her. I think her driver's license is a little bit older. It's from like 2021. >> Kind of just chill. I'm going to walk in and let somebody takes the storage. >> Well, Dave will be in the back. >> Um, personal contact, email. >> Uh, can I snap a photo with that with my work phone? That way I don't scribble all this down. Uh, no. >> Over the course of her scheme, the suspect managed to steal 19 iPhones and an Apple Watch. And according to management, there may be at least one other missing device tied to her. >> So, this is what the right side looks like. Um, empty on phones. I was supposed to have like 20 phones here. >> Yeah. But we normally just move some over and then as soon as we're done, we just lock it back up. It's a 10-minute timer. >> Okay. But they were coming on both sides. >> Yeah. >> How frequent are shipments? Sorry. How frequently you guys get shipments? >> Uh, normally every single day, Monday, so the more you sell, the more they replenish. There's nothing like I wish we had like a catalog that I can order phones, >> but it's just like whatever we sell, we get replenished. >> Yeah. >> Typically two to three days. >> It's kind of low right now. Meaning that we haven't sold anything. >> Yeah. And then she does have a uh store key. >> Okay. >> Uh >> should we get that? >> Yeah, we'll get that back. >> Are you going to change out the codes after? >> Yeah. Just moments later, the suspect walks through the doors, unaware of what's waiting for her. >> Hi. >> Hi. >> Hi. I'm Detective Sele. >> It's my partner, Detective Johnson. >> Oh, we do. >> Um, hello. >> Do you kind of understand why we'd be here and wanted to speak with you? >> No. >> Okay. Do you have an idea on you by any chance? No, not with me. >> You don't have anything with your name on it? >> Not today. >> Okay. Um, so we've kind of been informed of what's been going on >> regarding the cell phones. Um, but at this time we are going to have to take you into custody. Okay. If you just give me your bag and then you can hand my partner your phone. >> I'm just going to hold on to it for you. Okay. >> You don't have anything on you, right? No pockets. Okay. Can you put your money back? Is this your store key? I'm going take this. That's probably Dave. >> Dave, is that you? I want to get you. >> Tiny wrist. Is that too tight? >> I'm going to lock this so it doesn't tighten up on you. Okay. You got a key in. >> Do you have anything with your name on it or anything like that? >> Just to kind of verify. >> Oh, okay. >> We'd like to talk to you about it. Um, we can do that at the PD. You don't have So you don't have any ID? Have you ever been issued ID? >> I could. >> Okay. Is it going to be in here? Probably. >> Going to let dispatch know >> that we're going to need a cage car. >> There it is. Despite her claim of not carrying identification, the officer checks her purse and finds exactly what she said she didn't have. >> This you should put it in here radio set up. We wait for a car. Did someone drop you off? >> Uber. >> Uber. Okay. >> What's that? >> Wilson. >> Wilson. I know. It's the way we say our letters to our dispatchers. Is this your current address or no? Schubert. >> No. What's your current address? >> 13 North 13 North Ashville. >> 13 North. >> Ashville. >> Ash. >> Spell it for me. >> D E L >> Ashville. >> Ashville. >> Is it a road street court? >> Um, Ash Street, I believe. >> What town is that in? Hillside. >> Is it a uh apartment? >> No, >> it's a house. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Thanks. >> You got all this? >> I got this. >> Okay. You got this, too? >> Okay. All right. You can stand up. >> Watch your step. Okay. Hey T, do you want to do a quick search real quick? >> Anything sharp that's going to stick? >> Just put your legs a little bit. >> Following the search, the suspect was taken to the station without incident. >> Nothing in your bra at all? >> No. >> No. Okay, it's good. Just watch your head when you get down there. Okay. Meet you back. >> All righty. You The woman was ultimately charged with grand theft. What's your verdict? Let me know what you think in the comments down below. And I'll see you in the next one.
