I'm going to do everything for you. Hands on the steering wheel. >> I haven't done anything. >> This is the fifth time I've tell you now. >> All she had to do was provide the paperwork. But the woman's agitated response and repeated protests immediately pushed the officer's patience to the limit. >> But you have this. >> This is the fifth time I tell you. Put your hands on your steering wheel or you're going to get dragged out of the car. We can do this a simple way. >> Why are you doing? >> No, sir. Please don't touch me. Do not do this. So, this is a learner's license, first of all. >> Okay. >> Okay. That's not a driver's license. >> Okay. >> Second of all, it's expired. Okay. It expired on >> it expired on May 11th, 2025. Okay. >> When I ask you for identification, >> Okay. So, here here we're going to we're going to do this a little easier. We're going to do this easier. >> Okay. >> I'm going to ask you these questions. I need you to say yes or no verbally if you understand them. All right. Stay against the car. >> Mhm. You have the right to remain silent. Do you understand? >> I do, sir. >> Okay. Anything you say may be used against you in court. Do you understand? >> I do, sir. >> Okay. You have the right to talk to a lawyer before and during questioning. Do you understand? >> I do, sir. >> Okay. Has anyone threatened you or promised you anything to get to talk to me? >> You don't let me talk. When officers finish reading her Miranda rightites, she latches on to the last line as if it gives her the upper hand. Just listen to what she says. >> I'm going to I'm going to do I'm going to say this one more time. Has anyone threatened you or promised you anything to get to talk to me? >> Yes, I feel threatened by you. >> Okay. So, have I threatened you to get to talk to me? >> Yes, >> I have. How did I How did I threaten? >> I just feel I just feel intimidated because I haven't done anything wrong. I don't want to piss you off. I respect. >> You're not pissing me off. I'm not mad at all >> because I don't feel like you had a reason to stop me. >> So, the reason why I stopped you is because the registered owner of the vehicle >> is expired. >> I confirmed 27. Can you >> here? And then you hadn't seen my driver license 511 2025. You are the register. You are the registered owner of the vehicle. Okay. I confirmed your identity through the window. I could see you. You match your photo. Okay. And for that reason, you're going to jail for resisting without violence. Okay, >> sir. I'm sorry. I didn't want it to resist you. >> Too bad. >> I was just scared. It just wanted to resch. Can I get a female 45 for a search, please? >> Sir, you shouldn't you shouldn't be doing this. >> Face right here. >> Sir, >> face right here, please. >> But I'm scared. >> Face the inside, please. >> I am feeling humiliated by you guys. >> No. Yeah, we'll uh we'll probably get it off the road. >> Uh it's off the road. So, >> sorry. I have a baby here. I'm so sorry. I I don't I don't feel like I need. >> And if the situation wasn't already bad enough, officers soon discover she was never fully licensed to drive in the first place. >> I should have paid more attention. >> I already I already explained to you. I asked you for your driver's license and proof of insurance at least seven times. >> You didn't want to provide it. >> No, I I told you to put I told you to put your hands on the steering wheel. You didn't do that either. I asked you seven times. >> Okay. >> I apologize. >> And I will review everything so I get the correct count that I did everything. Okay. >> Okay. Your license is expired. You don't even have a driver's license. You have a learner's license. >> This is a learner's license. Let me read you the back. Just listen to what I have to say. Okay. >> Daylight driving only after 3 months. You may drive until 10 p.m. with a 21-year-old licensed driver in the closest seat of the driver. So, you don't have anybody over the age of 21 inside of the vehicle. Okay? And there's no one sitting next to you with a valid driver's license. So, not only are you with an expired learner's license, you're also committing a learner's license violation. >> I'm sorry. I I should have paid attention better on that. >> Yes, you should have. Yes. >> And all you had to do is listen to the instructions and you wouldn't have been in the situation. >> Okay. I apologize. Yes. >> Face the car. I apologize. >> Face the car, please. >> I wish I had done more orientation. >> Please face the car. Do not turn back. >> Says you wanted to keep the car there. >> Uh, we'll keep the car there. Yes. >> Okay. >> Do you mind grabbing her passport and phone, please? >> Is there anything else that you want to come with you at the jail? >> No. Can just someone um can I don't know if I can ask, but my baby's waiting for me. Can someone make a call or something? >> Yes, we'll make a phone call. Where's your baby waiting for you? >> It's in the daycare. She has asthma, so I was just going around cuz I need to drop off her pump. >> Uhhuh. >> Who do you need? >> I really apologize. I really >> I got you. You're already under arrest. >> It's okay. >> Okay. So, >> I know I'm wrong. I apologize. >> Okay. >> So, give us a give us a second. She's going to search you. We'll do this when we get to the jail. >> A female officer is called in for the search and the woman takes the chance to smooth things over with an apology. Unfortunately, at this stage, the charges are already coming. >> Have any needles or anything on you that would poke me? >> No, I'm just a nursing student here. No, I do not. It's just a question that is generally asked for everyone before I start pat you down. >> Spread your feet for me, please. >> I really apologize. I always respect for for your profession. I really apologize. I got scared. >> It's okay. >> I don't have a >> And I wish I was very better oriented because I have everything to have the right driver license. >> Just so you know, my instructions were very clear and I'm not here to confuse anybody. >> I know. I know you. And for you not following the instructions, that's why this is what happens. >> I've patted you down. Is there anything I may have missed? Because when you go inside the jail, you do go through a scanner and if there's anything that's on you, can't be charged again. >> Can I ask you something? Is that going to be on my record? >> Yes. >> Is that going to be on my record that I went to jail? >> Yes. [Applause] >> This is just a charge. It's not a conviction. So, you'll still be able to go to court, talk to everything, and you go from there. make sure that I can get I still get through interviews. I'm applying for jobs. >> You'll be fine. >> Thank you. >> As they head to the station, the officer makes it clear this didn't have to end in cuffs, but her decisions left no other option. >> This isn't this isn't any Listen, this isn't anything personal, okay? In the scope of my job, if you refused to identify yourself, >> especially after multiple times of me asking you for your license >> and you went to pull it out and then you stopped, that's resisting without violence. Ma'am, >> I apologize. Just that I didn't think I had anything wrong. So, I was not understand. >> And I was trying to explain it to you, but you kept trying to talk over me and not listen to what I was trying to tell you. >> Okay. >> I do this whole nice little spiel where I ask for your license, registration, proof of insurance. I tell you what happened and what went wrong, and then we would have gone from there. Okay. >> You refusing to do that. Now we're here. >> It's okay. I apologize. My reaction wasn't the best. I was just scared. >> Yep. I agree. >> So many things on on social media. >> Don't trust everything you see on social media. Not everybody's the same. >> I don't I can't I was just like, I don't think I have anything wrong. What's happening with me specifically, you know? >> But then, yes, definitely. I'm going to apologize. I didn't mean >> I understand. >> You know, I don't want to disrespect you. >> No, like I said, I didn't take any disrespect from you. I didn't take any offense to anything you did. I don't do this job with emotions. I do it with logic. >> The woman was later charged with resisting an officer without violence. Number two, when a fight between lovers turns into a scene for law enforcement. He's He's a really good boyfriend. It's me. >> I I'm just I want to go home back to Michigan. So, >> I don't want to do this. Yeah. So, I don't want to do this anymore. Be here. So, we went on that bourbon tour and definitely screaming at each other. So, I do apologize. >> That's okay. >> I feel bad for everybody. >> What will happen? >> Nothing. We just anger built up anger from Michigan that we thought this trip would help us and it obviously didn't. >> Okay. >> So, we're ready to kind of go home. >> I got you. I got you. >> So, I apologize. >> Hello. How are you? >> Doing well. How you doing? >> Good. I think we just said I don't know if you were here or >> I was. >> Okay. They're back still arguing that spilled out into the hallway fighting. Um >> you physically saw them fighting. >> I guess one of them says they had a >> So we we are going to request since this is now the third time that they go ahead and just be removed. But that's all right. So too easy. >> You guys don't mind. I'm sorry. Hate to do that. >> It's all good. >> Were you drinking more of there? >> Oh yeah. >> You seem like you're a little bit more intoxicated. >> Oh yeah. >> Okay. I just need you to tell me. >> No. No, sir. >> The moment she starts describing what led to the fight, the emotional weight of it begins to show. >> No, sir. >> You're not going to tell me. >> He He's Do you hear him? He's saying nothing. He cheated on me with this girl. >> I understand. I understand. But Paige, >> I'm sorry. >> Paige, Paige, you got to listen to me. You got to listen to me. >> I'm sorry. >> There's cheated on. >> I understand. I understand that I was wrong. But Paige, >> I'm sorry. I'm not trying to walk. >> There's good ways to handle things and there's very bad ways to handle things. >> And we've been doing this for two months. >> He is such a good boyfriend. He is the best boyfriend I have ever had in my entire life. I've never had a better boyfriend. I'm so sorry. And he did. He cheated on me. >> So, what happened since we left? Cuz I know that when I saw you go the door, he cheated on me. >> You wanted to hug him and he didn't want to he didn't want you to touch him. So, I saw that part and the door closed. So, what happened? >> Can I show you? >> Am I allowed to >> What is that? >> What am I looking at? my phrases. >> So, Paige, we're gonna have to figure out a game plan tonight. Okay, >> we're fine. Hold up, Paige. >> I don't want y'all to think that we're not okay with leaving. We were packing >> and we weren't even fighting. >> Paige, >> being intoxicated and emotional is rarely a good mix. Even so, officers try to keep things calm as they question her, making it clear she needs to cooperate. >> Can you let me finish, Paige? >> Yes. >> All right. So, your boyfriend is packing up everything in the room right now. >> All right. He's good on the fact that you guys have to leave. >> Mhm. >> All right. So, you're trespassing the building, and we're going to make sure you leave. >> Okay. >> So, here's here's the deal, though. This has been going all night. This is the second time we've got out here. >> This is the third night. This is this is the second time we've been called out here to talk to you guys. >> You've seen my bruises. >> Don't touch me. >> Sorry. >> He doesn't like to get touched. That's >> He's He's seen my bruises. >> I know. I know. >> You've seen >> All right. But here's here's here's the thing that I was understanding, Paige, is that I was being told, okay, your boyfriend said he didn't want you to touch him and then he touched him, grabbed you and pushed you off. But it's okay to smack somebody in the face. >> You got smacked in the face? >> Oh, yeah. >> What? By who? >> Did it hurt? >> No. I'm a Oh, >> why did you get smacked in the face? >> I mean, that's who he is. >> You just told me he's the best guy in the world. I am so sorry. >> Officers attempt to explain the situation to Paige, urging both her and her boyfriend to find another place for the night, but she's not having it. >> Paige, we got to figure out a game plan tonight cuz this is the second time we got out here. >> You You can't because neither of you can drive. >> So, he's going to find a different place to stay tonight. And I think it would be best if you found a different place to stay tonight. I don't have any money. All my money is his. So, we have to stay together. >> No, not necessarily. You can get two different rooms and sleep in two different beds tonight cuz clearly being intoxicated right now. >> I'm going to make call real quick. >> Yeah. Hey, just hold up. Hold up. Bish. If there's If you want to sit down, we don't have any chairs out here though. >> Oh, it's okay. I'm a thug. I mean, I'm from Detroit. I'm going to give >> That's what you keep saying. That's why I'm such a fighter. >> You're a fighter? >> Who are you fighting? >> Myself. >> What do you mean you fight yourself? >> Stop. You're This is why I hate the police. This is why. >> Oh, it is. >> It is. >> You hate me. >> No, I don't hate you. You're super sweet. >> No, but you just yell at me. You got an attitude with me, please. No, I I got an attitude >> because I'm asking you questions. >> The Detroit cops are a little different than y'all. >> Okay. Well, Paige, so here's the thing. I don't like when I'm being here and nice to you and I'm being very, very friendly and I'm just concerned about your wellbeing and you snap at me like that and you cuss at me. >> I apologize. >> So, we need to be on You did cuss at me, Paige. >> I apologize. >> So, here's what we're not going to do. No, you lost. Yeah, you lost your hand shaking privileges. >> No. >> Yeah, you just me. >> You're getting out of jail. >> You hear that? >> Hear what? >> Do you hear that? >> My Alamian. >> We're not I'm not going to jail. >> I just got to walk you downstairs. We just got to escort you down. We're going the elevator. Okay. >> I'm not going to jail, though. >> No one's going to jail right now. >> Correct. Paige's boyfriend finally approaches, but instead of calming things down, his presence only adds fuel to the fire. >> You don't have her driver's license. >> She She definitely does need her driver's license right now, bud. >> Hey, ma'am. You said get off of him. You got to get off of him. >> He's giving me a >> He said get off of him. Ma'am, stop. >> Relax. >> Paige, I'm holding your arms. >> Don't pull. >> You the same page. >> Yeah. >> All right. All right. >> Keep your hands behind your back. Stop. >> Why are you >> Because you're touching him without his consent and you're pulling away from me. At this point, I'm going to place you in cuffs. You are being detained right now. Okay. Keep doing this. >> I didn't touch him without consent. >> He was telling you to stop touching him. >> He's my boyfriend. >> Doesn't mean that you can touch someone who's you're dating without their consent. >> Why does he not arrest him? >> All right. Because the entire time, Paige, he was trying to get away from you or touching without his consent. That's called harassment. Physical contact. >> No, he >> I want to explain something. And I know you're intoxicated, but just because you're married or dating somebody doesn't give you the consent to do things to them when they don't want you to. Okay? They're still human beings. >> All right? So, when he says, "Please don't touch me. Please don't kiss me." And you're kissing him and touching him, that is a crime. >> 100%. That is a crime. You can ask him. >> Now, with the cuffs on and the reality of the situation setting in, Paige finally seems to understand where things went wrong. You can see the flicker of realization on her face, but any chance she had to turn things around is already gone. >> You can ask him right now. >> All right. So, Paige, at this point, >> um, so we're going to take you to jail tonight. You're under arrest for disorderly conduct, second degree, and public intoxication, first or first offense. Okay. I've been really cool with you tonight, Paige. But there's >> but there's no other solution. There's no other solution for tonight. Okay. If we let you leave, >> am I allowed? No, I'm not. If we let you leave tonight, I'm trying to coax. >> Yeah. If we're If we let you leave tonight, it's just going to be the same problem again as you and your boyfriend. >> No, there isn't. I'm leaving him. >> I need to go home. I need to go home to my mom. >> We'll take care of you. >> Can you call my mommy? >> Yeah, we can call everybody. Okay. >> No, I don't want to call my mommy. In the end, it took just one night, fueled by alcohol and poor decisions, to land Paige in handcuffs. She later faced charges of public intoxication and was formally trespassed from the hotel. Number one, she thought her attitude would intimidate the officers. Instead, they taught her a lesson in respect. In our final case, officers respond to a highway call after multiple drivers report a suspicious vehicle. The woman behind the wheel says she just ran out of gas, but the officers quickly suspect otherwise. Here's what happened. Hey man, what's going on? >> So, I don't even have a radio ID number on the new hire. So, um she's way out here saying she ran out of gas, but look how far away we're from the road. >> You ran out of gas, but you're off the roadway. >> Yeah. I don't know if it was linked to I don't know what's that over there. >> Stop. >> So, you took it off the roadway back there. >> What? >> Said you drove it off the roadway. Yeah, because I didn't want to get hit by a car. >> You could have just pulled over to the side of the road for you guys. >> Oh, I just wanted to feel safe. >> I didn't want anyone accidentally crash into me. >> I'm sorry. I can't hear you. >> I didn't want anyone to accidentally crash into you. >> Okay. All right. No big deal. Do you have your license, registration, insurance, and then I'll start a record for you? >> You'll start what? >> A record? >> What does that mean? >> A tow truck to get you out of here. You're not going to be able to drive out of here. >> What is a record? Does that mean it's Is that a penalty or something? No, the tow truck >> has a record. >> Tow truck has to pull you up. >> Yeah, add me to that. >> Oh, I thought you were saying something was going on my record or something. >> I thought you said something on my record. >> No, not record. Recorder. >> Where you coming from? >> Um, >> I don't know. >> Are you going to Miami Day College? >> What? >> Huh? >> Is Miami Day College this? >> Yeah. Officers aren't asking for much, just her name and identification. But with each passing second, her combative attitude is making that small task more complicated than it needs to be. And the longer it goes on, the more it starts to feel like she's trying to hide something. >> Miss Saf. >> I think you can read. >> I mean, I don't want to butcher your name. >> Why would you? You don't read. >> Sound it out. Saraphina. Saraphina. >> All right. A >> Saraphina. >> Congratulations. You know how we >> Yeah, I I did go to school. >> Oh, okay. >> Oh, no. No. >> All right. >> I know. >> Where you said you were coming from now? >> A grasshopper. >> You know, you know how you can avoid that? You can step out and that way they don't jump on you. There's one right there. >> There's one. You want to step out? >> It's going to They're going to start calling on me. >> Yeah. >> Where'd you say you were coming from now? >> I was coming from somewhere that I don't want to disclose. I don't feel comfortable disclosing that. >> What do you mean? >> So, what are we doing? What is this process here? >> All right. What's your phone number? All right. The vehicle's registered to you? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Did you call anybody to come get you? >> I don't have a phone. >> You don't have a phone? >> No. >> There's no phone is in the car or you don't have a charger? >> I don't have a phone. >> Okay. All right. >> It would be on the we're shooting, right? So, >> well, the trooper is coming. So, I don't know where he's coming from, but he's on his way. I just have to hold on to your information till he gets here. >> You have any questions for me? Hey, don't throw up the window. >> There are bugs coming in here. >> I told you you can avoid the bugs by stepping out here. If you want to sit in there and bask in the bugs, then that's on you. >> She still hasn't given the officers what they need. And with the woman's behavior growing more difficult by the minute, they decide to focus on confirming her personal information. Meanwhile, other officers are trying to stay level-headed and avoid escalation, but her attitude is making that task nearly impossible. >> Huh? >> What are you doing? >> I I I can't see without light in the night time. It's too dark. >> So, that's why I use a flashlight. >> Why are you pointing the flashlight in here? >> Because you and I are hanging out right now. window. >> I'm sorry. What? >> Why is she putting on her seat belt? >> Trying to take off. >> Roll on the window for me. Why are you putting on your seatelt? >> What? >> So, why are you putting on your seat belt? >> Why is it a problem that I'm putting on my seat belt? >> Cuz your car is unable to drive. >> Okay. >> Okay. And you're not free to go. So, go ahead and step out of the car for me. Go ahead and step Thomas, get out of the car. Get out of the car. >> Come down. Listen to what I'm saying. Just listen. Listen to what I'm saying. Just get out of the vehicle. Get out of the vehicle. Grab your window breaker. She's trying to She put her seatelt on and she's locking the car. Yep. Get out of the car. >> The standoff has dragged on long enough and the officers are done waiting. They've exhausted every warning and every opportunity for her to comply peacefully. It's no longer a matter of asking. If she doesn't get out on her own, they'll make it happen. >> Shut off the car and get out. Car, get out. >> Get out. I'mma break the window. >> Get out. >> Chance or we're going to >> Last chance. I'mma break the window. >> Last chance. Three. >> Two. >> Get out. >> Get out. Wait till the out. >> Why are you doing this? Why are you doing this? >> You're going to hurt yourself. Stop resisting. >> I'm not resisting. >> You're going to hurt yourself. Put your other hand behind the back.
