Mothers are supposed to be protectors, but in these cases, they became the source of danger. That's when officers stepped in. Here are five cases when good cops step in to protect children from their evil mothers. Number five, officers step in after a mother is found huffing glue in front of her children. Our first case begins when officers respond to a call from a citizen who claimed a woman was huffing glue in a Walmart lot while her kids were present. Here's how the situation unfolds. >> Hello. How you doing, man? >> How are you doing? Good. >> Good. I'm officer Duis with Grove City Police Department. Uh we got a call about you. Sounds like you were uh stumbling around inside the store. So, we just wanted to check on you, make sure you were okay to drive. said you're tired. >> Yeah, I'm not drunk or anything like I'm drained. I just moved into my apartment and I've been up cleaning and organizing. >> Gotcha. So, you just been up for a long time then? >> Yeah. And I was crying because I got paid $600 in four kids and it's really >> stress. Gotcha. Yeah. They said they saw you go into the um >> the mother and cuz that's where I've been. >> What's uh what's the deal with the can here? >> My uh right here. a thing. So, I fixed it. >> Okay. How about you just set that down there on the trunk for me? You got an ID on you? >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. Is it on you? >> No, it's tomorrow. You can go get it. >> Why are you like stumbling around and stuff? I want to make sure that you're okay cuz they seem like you're >> I have vertigo. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, when I'm really stressed and really drained, it irritates. But I've been up all day since 6:00. >> Okay. Um, well, tell tell me what when these other officers show up, we'll go get your your ID cuz right now cancel on the card. >> Yeah, if you want to sit down, that's fine. >> Yeah, this is crazy. >> Um, you don't got any weapons or anything on you or inside the car, do you? >> No. >> Okay. What's the deal with the inhalent? >> The what? >> The inhalent? The spray bottle that you were holding when I walked up? >> I sits my my watch. >> What are you serious? Well, because you say you're fixing something. There's no indicator of spray or nothing. And I seen you holding the spray can and you're stumbling around. >> No, I'm not. If I do this, I I open the door. >> Okay. Where is your ID at? >> In my purse. >> Do you mind if I go grab that? >> Go get my purse for me right now. >> The woman has four kids in the car, yet it doesn't seem to phase her. She's willing to huff glue in front of them and just as willing to lie when questioned. This is crazy. >> Thank you. Appreciate it. This one right here. Mind if I grab it out? >> Yeah. >> But okay. We lived in our car for like a couple weeks cuz I was waiting for to come through for my unit. And so when the truck was open, my my cloth and my car kept on waiting >> like the >> which cloth the roof. Well, if I told you that Walmart called us cuz they were concerned about some behavior that you were doing, that's the reason that we're out here. >> I'll go in there and vent because I have four kids and they just cry sometimes cuz sometimes you got to cry. >> Okay. >> Seen a mother before. There's nothing wrong with letting your emotions out or anything like that, but when when we get information saying that you're you're stumbling around the store >> because my vertigo I have vertigo. >> Okay. >> Okay. When it when I'm stressed, it acts up. I'm not I don't drink. I haven't drunk in 4 years. I don't have I'm absent. I'm so bad. I go to church. I'm just This whole ordeal is stressing me out. >> Okay. And I have no family here. So, it's just me. >> Okay. >> And I take care of everything. >> Where were you if you were spraying this? Where were you spraying it? Show me. >> Can I get up? >> You need help? >> I have bad balance. Okay. >> Show me. >> It's right here. >> Yeah. >> It's open door. Open door. You shut it cuz you was cold, but I want the door open. It's all right here. And head too much. So, >> you care if I touch it? >> You sure can. He hand me stick and I asked the man what I need to buy for in the store cuz >> she's quick to blame Vertigo for her stumbling. Yet the officers know they have to dig deeper to see if that's the truth. >> Okay. Um where we're at with this right now is we're just going to give you the opportunity to do a few field field sobriety test just to make sure that you're okay to drive obviously cuz you're about to enter the car with your two children. >> I can't walk the straight line. >> Okay. Well, there's walk you through everything that we need to do. You either do need or >> so. That is right now. >> Yeah. >> Like every like it's hereditary. My cousin in Lex has it >> and when she like when she first wakes up she got pills for it. >> But mine's only act up when I'm really stressed and I'm under a lot of stress. I just moved in yesterday. I'm trying to organize my house. I bought curtains and I bought rods. >> I can look on. >> Okay. So, they saw that you had gone into the >> the mother's room, >> right? Did you go in with your children or No, >> no. >> Okay. So, you just left them outside the door then or? >> No, they would stay right there. >> Were they inside the room with you? >> No, I was standing by the door. >> Okay. What were you doing inside the room there? >> I was praying and praying. I'm swearing. >> Okay. >> And then I'll let you Where did my phone? >> Well, your phone's in your purse, but just hang out here. We're going to I'm going to run you through some tests just to make sure you're [music] fine to go drive off with your two kids. Obviously, I don't want them to get hurt, right? >> That's my concern. [music] Um >> so, I'm going to explain a few things to you. Are you fine if um we close the door and your kids stay here and I'll just walk you to the front of this cruiser? Is that okay with you? >> Yeah. >> I can have this officer stay and make sure that >> can go up and stay. >> Well, we just don't want them to run out. >> Okay. Just make sure stay. >> Sure. All right. We're going to walk over here. While that's happening, one of the female officers steps inside the Walmart to confirm with employees exactly what took place before police arrived. >> So, um, she bought some spray adhesive. She's trying to fix her roof liner. Um, you guys have video of her in the store. I can watch like see what she's doing. She said her whole thing with going to the mother's room is venting cuz they're living out their car. So, she goes in there and like vents, but we're going to put her through field sobriety tests. >> She left her little girls alone for 15 minutes outside like I'm trying >> like on the door. Say, "Mommy, I love you. Mommy, I love you." >> Okay. >> It was just weird. >> Um, so what I'll have you do is just take your hands and put them up on your chin like this. >> And then are you able to see the tip of my finger? >> Okay. So, what I need you to do is just with your eyes and your eyes only follow my finger. Does that make sense? >> Do you have any questions about that? >> Okay. >> Are you still doing all right? You still do good to continue? >> Okay. It's going to be a little bit longer this time. Just keep your hands up here on your chin for me. All right. She's walking with the cart. She's fine. But like she's walking like her feet like she's walking like Godzilla. Honestly, it was super weird. >> Well, she said she has vertigo. You know, keep a lie though. So, >> I don't know. It might be nothing. It was just We were worried because of the kids. We debated calling for like 20 minutes. >> So, you said she left them alone for 15 minutes. They were just wandering around. >> Electronics. Yeah. The whole time she said the mother. She holds firm to her explanation, repeating that vertigo is why she can't keep her balance during the test. The officers, however, aren't convinced. >> Um, do you have anything that's physically wrong with you that I know you said you'd have some sort of issue walking in a straight line? Is that right? >> Um, what what's going to cause that issue? Is that the vertigo that you were talking about? >> Yeah. Like I want to get checked out, but I never have time. >> Sure. And I'm trying and I enrolled new school today and took longer than what I expected cuz I changed addresses, >> right? >> And then when I left CCS, I immediately came No, I went to uh Aldi's Lake Origh. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> And I went to the thrift store because my new place don't have uh lines. >> That was all today. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Um, so I'm going to give you the opportunity to do the walk and turn test. I can take that into account that you have vertigo and that you had injury of the feet. Um, I can explain the test to you and then you can let me know if you would like to try it. Does that sound reasonable? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Um, so I'm just going to have you >> What is it? >> I love stand. >> Okay. Well, I'm going to have you stand up for this one. Okay. >> Yeah, I think I might. >> Yeah, if you'd like to. >> Yeah. >> We type up a sworn statement real quick. Just basically stating cuz um here's where we're at. We're putting her through fields ride testing anyways. um kind of go that route, see if there's we have anything as far as alcohol or go. Um so if we do go that route and she there is evidence to to prove that we will need a statement. So if you guys just want to knock one out real quick, >> um that would help. >> Um so when you do this, I just need you to uh in a heel to toe fashion, >> you're going to take nine steps down that line. a turn and then nine steps back. >> Even before the test starts, just hearing the instructions is enough to set her off. She knows she won't be able to pull it off. And within moments, the tears begin to flow. >> Do it. >> Okay. Do you want to make an attempt at doing it? >> I'm not going to jail. >> So, you're not Here's where I'm at with this. I believe that you are some level of intoxicated. >> I'm let Hang on. Let me explain a little bit further to you. Stop. Stop. Hey, if you need to if you need to sit stop Hey, listen. What I'm about to tell you might make your day a little bit better. Okay, stop. All right, >> I'm so tired. >> I have not seen you driving your car in the state that you are in. There is no video from Walmart that shows you inside of your vehicle in the state that you're in. Meaning, I'm not arresting you for OBI or operating motor vehicle under the influence. Nor am I arresting you for physical control cuz you're not doing that. My concern right now is that you have two small children with you. I'm going to drive slow. >> No, no. I I am not going to let you drive and stay with me. >> I don't have no one to jab me. >> Oh my god. Let me see. >> Sit down. >> Okay. >> So, can you understand that from my point of view? >> Can I get a breathalyzer test or something? >> Say it one more time. >> A breathalyzer test. I don't drink. >> I drink and the the adhesive wasn't even like that. I just opened it. >> Okay. I just opened it to spray my my ceiling because I'm I can't afford them to strip my whole ceiling. >> Right. So, based off of what I'm seeing, I believe you are impaired by something. I don't know if you're impaired by alcohol, but I am I will not let you drive today. And >> but why do you think I'm under influence? Because I can't walk in a straight line. >> Not because you can't walk in a straight line. Again, I didn't see you walk in a straight line cuz you said that you didn't want to. Based off of what I'm hearing from your slurry and slow speech, you're unsteady on your feet. >> Reports about the woman already pointed to strong signs of impairment, and the glue canister she was clutching when officers showed up only adds weight to that. Still, she sticks to her story, claiming it's just stress and days without food. >> When I looked at your eyes, you you have showed several indicators of impairment within your eyes. Usually, that's >> I'm stressed. Like, do you not understand? Stress isn't something that's going to cause that pain. >> I promise it does, honey. I haven't had anything. >> I've gone through >> to drink, anything, to eat. I have been fasting for 3 days. You understand? >> All right. I understand that. Again, that's not something that's going to cause what I'm seeing in your eyes. I've been given plenty of training on this. >> So, you're saying that I'm under influence because I ain't held that stuff for split second cuz I was spraying my the the ceiling. I shouldn't have sprayed it. >> Well, that's not what I'm saying. Is that what happened that you were just inside there spraying it and then it got into your nose and that's why you think that this might have happened? >> Well, that's [snorts] what I'm asking you cuz you're the one who brought that. >> I mean, I'm asking like how am I acting? I don't know. This is how I exactly. But >> do you have somebody that can come pick you and your kids up? >> That's my phone. >> But you do have somebody. >> I can try. >> Okay. Why don't you try to I'll get you your phone. Okay. And why don't you try to get a hold of somebody that can come pick up you and your kids? Okay. >> How long were you spraying that stuff in the trunk? >> Like I just came at the store so I just opened it. You can read my receipt. >> Well, [snorts] that's not the problem that I have. The problem is if that's what you think it was that you were inhaling too much of it there in the back. >> You think you can say it fet? >> I mean it does feel wet. So like you probably like it I put my hand on it and it does feel like sticky, >> right? My hand >> I mean it just it kind of depends on if you how much you were I mean that stuff's strong. Like I smelt it like even just rotating the can and I was like that stuff is strong. >> But um I mean were you I mean I'll ask you straight up. Were you purposely inhaling it? >> No. >> To like try to get high or anything or were you just trying to >> or were you just trying to fix it? >> I really was trying to fix it. I'mma fix it. Like, fix it, Randy. Like, no. Fix it. Fill it. >> I get it. I get it. I mean, >> moments later, the female officer speaks with one of the woman's friends, instructing them to have both her and her four children collected from the scene. >> Got to do what I got to do. >> Hi. Um, are you able to come out here and um pick up I'm sorry, what's your name again? >> Chvel. >> Pick up Chvel and her two kids. >> Okay. Okay. Um, you Grove City and Walmart. >> Yes. So, it's going to be the Walmart that's on Stringtown Road. >> I live in Galloway. I'm like a couple exits up. >> Okay. All right. Sounds good. We'll see you then. >> All right. >> All right. Bye-bye. All right. Bye. >> All right. I'll give this back to you. >> Thank you. >> Do you just want me to set it back in your car? >> Is that okay? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Did you go in the room to kind of look for a break? a road >> the room like the mom room to like kind of have a break from everything. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> That's my place. I go in there and pray and um I have the you virgin barbell app is on my phone. >> Okay. >> And I was listening to my scriptures and and touch home. >> You know, >> is there a reason you do it at a Walmart? >> No. I'll come to Walmart and shop. >> Yeah. >> No, no. the shopping in the thing is totally fine. The only thing is like the the loss prevention people said that you were in there for like 15 minutes. So when they see that, it's a little concerning to them as to why somebody might be in that room for an extended period of time and they're in their and their kids are sitting outside. >> I'm doing 15 minutes. >> Okay. >> My daughter, my little one kicked the door down. >> Okay. >> She's a bully. >> Yeah. She may not be heading to jail tonight, but escaping this incident without legal consequences won't be an option. >> So, here's where we're at with this. Um, >> today you are going to get a citation. You're not going to jail tonight. >> Um, intoxication and then just one for endangering children. >> I believe that you would have gotten into your car, taken off in the state that you're in. >> I don't believe that you can care for yourself at the moment, which means I don't believe that you can care for your children at the moment. really >> you are more than entitled to your defense, but this is based off of what I've seen indicators of just speaking to me and then what I've seen on the test if you allow me to do it. So, like I said, you're more than entitled to your own defense. >> It's okay. >> Not a conviction, but a charge. So, if you want to fight this later, um just hang out. We're going to write those out for you. You'll get your copy and a court date and then you can get it at a later date. Does that make sense? >> Yeah. A family friend eventually arrived to take the family home and the woman walked away with a citation for endangering the life of a child with a pending court date. Number four, when helping a shoplifter means dragging your children into trouble, too. Our next case takes us to a local store where officers were called to handle an altercation. Here's what they encountered on arrival. >> You know, and he's threatening me with the pepper spray, mind me. And I don't even know what's going on. Doesn't explain himself or nothing. He's the guy's yelling for water and stuff like that. So, he's coming around getting close to my car, getting close to my kid, trying to take my license plate down, and he's spraying his pepper spray. As he's spraying his pepper spray, I'm covering my kids. So, all my back is covering pepper spray. Get into my kid's face. This gentleman sees everything. Okay. I sprayed him cuz he got close to me. I felt threatened. So, yes, I sprayed him. >> Real quick, where's the guy you picked up? >> I don't know. He took off on foot. >> He knows him. He was >> I don't know him. How can you say I know him? Calling her by name. Asking her by name. Angela, give me water. >> Angela was sit in the car, please. I'll talk to you in a second. >> And yeah, see my kid's still burning in his eyes because of this gentleman. >> You me first because you threatened me by my kid. >> That's good. Okay. >> I do want to press charges. >> And you want an ambulance here? >> Yes, I do. Check my son's eyes out. And I'm burning all the way down my back. >> I do want to press charges. >> They're together. >> How old is your kid? >> He's four. He's three. Three. >> I got a six-month-old and caught. If that window was not closed, you would >> Here's what happened. A man allegedly shoplifted from the store, fled on foot, and then asked the woman for help. She agreed, letting him into her car while her kid sat in the back. Store management pursued, and soon the child was caught up in the chaos, too. >> Okay, I'll I'll talk to you away from her that way. So this guy, he's filling up a shopping cart going throughout the store and I'm I know what exactly what he's going to do. You know, I've seen it before. And sure enough, he comes through here acting like he's going to pay. And he comes right right by me here. And I let him go cuz I already had the front gate locked. I had the doors on off and I could just open them manually. I opened the doors for him. He went through, shut the doors in behind him. I locked it and I called the sheriff right away. He started beating on my glass and pounding the out of my doors. So I pepper sprayed him, calm him down, get him to stop. He did for about 20 minutes, but then he got crazy again. She He was having communication with her 100%. Bring me water. And And she was getting in my face coming up onto the sidewalk, asked, "What's going on? What's going on?" She knows exactly what's going on. And um I told her, "Do not come near me or I'll walked around to get her license plate, a picture of it, she started getting in my face and being weird." I said, looked at my face and started backing off and she sprayed me. I didn't do anything to her and as soon as she sprayed me, I sprayed her back. The stuff that >> So he busted this window right here >> and he went into the store went out the back door >> and the customer saw him at the laundry that he is definitely at the laundry >> by the car wash over here. >> And and I'm not trying to be funny or anything. She's lying. I watched that man get out of the car and I watched her >> spray. She said she picked him up down the street for a ride. >> No, she didn't. He was all I can't breathe. Her name is >> How long ago did they say they saw him down at the car wash? >> Just she just the lady right there that's getting in the car talking to the officer. They just told me he just pulled up and he's at the line. >> 246 384. >> And then can you confirm what he was wearing? He was wearing black dark blue jeans. He had a ice baseball shirt with the number 15 on it. >> He's got no shirt now. >> Yeah. And he's got a black white. He took it on his back. Luckily, store staff had surveillance footage that captured the male suspect in detail. >> Did he hit anybody or anybody? >> He's got tattoos on his face, down his neck, and all across his entire back. >> I got a picture of him if you want to look. >> And you'll see him break the window here, too. That's me out front. >> So, he is shirtless. He didn't have a shirt on underneath that. >> He had a shirt on. He was shirtless. That's right. So, I didn't see the black white either that she was saying, but he took the shirt off cuz he was burning. Okay. >> See, here she comes. Gives him the water. What did he break it with? >> His foot. >> Oh, he kicked it on. >> Here he goes. There he is. >> Yeah. What color? >> Okay. Uh, do you have an ID on you? >> Yeah. There you go. >> And, um, would you be able to fill out a statement for me? >> Sure. >> Be right back. If that's where the pepper spray happened, the only way I think she could have gotten it on her kid is if she touched them. >> Got it from her. Yeah. Cuz I was directly behind the car. She insisted that her children were put in danger when the manager used pepper spray on the suspect. The video, however, reveals it was her scuffle with the employee and her own reaction after being confronted that brought her child into it. >> If that window was not closed, he would have got my baby. >> There's this child down. >> And I just arrived. You guys >> Yeah, because I had given a gentleman a ride. >> I didn't know what >> Did you know the gentleman? >> No, I didn't know what this gentleman was doing. Okay. He comes out. He's yelling, "I had money to pay for my stuff. I had money to pay for my stuff." This guy is locking the door and stuff. And I'm like, "You come any closer to my car? I'm going to spray you with my pepper spray." I warned him. >> You said that to him? >> Yes. I warned him once. So, he's coming this way. My son's mind. My son, he has autism. So, he's jumping around. Yeah. Trying to get out of the car seat and stuff, you know. So, I'm trying to get to the door and mind me. This guy has his pepper spray out spraying me and I'm blocking my son and he gets my son in the eye. Little one. Yes. Now I had to clean and wash it out. I washed it out. And mind me, he's getting my license plate down and he's like, "Oh, you know this gentleman." And I'm like, "I don't even know him." I picked him up down the road and I brought him this way. And if if I wasn't covering the door and him in the front of the door, he would have sprayed he would have sprayed inside the car on my four uncles. >> Can I get your ID and then their names? >> No. Sit down in the car. >> And Angelica, while we're waiting, can I just clarify some things with you? >> Uhhuh. So from once you told me you picked up this individual, you don't know who he is. Down the road somewhere. >> Yeah. >> Where would you say down the road? >> So you picked him up. >> Did he ask you to come here or did you come here? >> No. >> I came here. So you came here. He goes inside. You're staying in the car with the babies. >> Yeah, I stayed in the car with the babies. >> You hear something happening at the front of the store. You get out to go check. The manager's yelling at the other individual. Did you pull your mace out at that time or did the other guy? No, he didn't. >> To make matters worse, officers learned that the woman had actually offered the man, a complete stranger, a ride all while her child was in the vehicle. >> So then if you come and you tell you I said, "Well, what's going on?" That at that point I'm like, "Well, what's going on?" You know, >> and you were by and I was right here by the post cuz she was already going to try spraying me. >> What is it that made you pick up this? >> I don't know. I mean, usually I I mean, I talk to a lot of people around everywhere, you know. When I stopped, I just asked if he needed a ride and he was like, "Yeah, can I get a ride?" I was like, "Okay, well go down to the dollar store." I said, "I got to get some things." >> Did he have anything on him like knives, anything like that? >> Nothing. He just had I believe he was wearing just a white t-shirt and that was it. >> Make any statements to you besides he was just going to get down, >> you know. He just said, "I got to get down and get a few things." He goes, "Let me get down first and then then you can go ahead and go in." He goes, I was like, "Okay." You know, cuz I have my kids in the car. So, I was like, um, I was like, "Well, go ahead and get down first and then I'll get down." Well, he was kind of taking for a while. I sat there and I was like, "This is a screw to the man." So, I was like, "That's when I got. I'm like, well, what's going on? I have water in the car." And he's like, "Can you give me a water? I can't breathe." And I'm like, "Okay." So, I got the water and I threw the water at him like that cuz he was already like, >> "Who?" Sorry, the >> guy, >> the guy you picked up. >> Yeah. He was already like, "Um, >> he got sprayed with mace, too. >> Oh, yeah. That guy. He sprayed him." And he's like, "I'm not letting you go." And I'm like, "Well, what's going on?" He's like, "What do you think's going on?" I was like, "I don't know. That's why I'm asking." >> He's like, "Well, he's stealing." I was like, "I didn't know he was going to come in here and steal." He goes, "You're lying. You were with him." I was like, "So, I'll be honest right now. I'm not too concerned about that aspect. My partner is investigating that aspect, and you're what you're telling me matches what the witness told me." My concern right now is why did you let an unknown male into your car when you had a six-month-old and a three-year-old in your car? >> Can I get your license order? >> Um, I think you guys have it. Yeah. And that's when I pulled this out. >> Yeah, it's a domestic violence thing I do. >> No, don't pull it out cuz I don't want to stray you. >> Oh, yeah. I'm so sorry. >> Yeah. No, no, no, no. >> That leads one officer to question whether this is something she does often. After all, trusting strangers can come at a high cost. >> Can you normally do is pick up strangers? >> Um, sometimes. Yeah, sometimes when I, you know, when I see them or whatever and I see it's a hot day, like I'll pick them up or whatever. My dad always tells me not to be doing that unfortunately because it could be dangerous especially with people out here but you know I learned the hard way I guess cuz look what I just got myself into and like >> and that's why I'm asking you >> that is no joke you know what I mean and then I had my kids with me at that if I would have known something like that was going to happen I definitely would not have my kids with me cuz I'm a teacher I teach preschool I teach kids with that have disabilities and stuff so I work with children that have disabilities my son has a disability and my other child has a disability as well. >> It does happen quite often that you pick up strangers just to get them out of the heat. >> That sort of thing. >> Mainly >> nothing about him that you saw concerning. You just wanted to help him. >> No, maybe. >> How often would you say you do that? >> Uh I mainly only do it for children and females when I see them walking. I would say I do it about six times a week, you know. >> Six times a week. >> Okay. >> Cuz I do work for lift too. So it's like >> in this car? >> No, not in this car. I have another car that I work for lift. This is a loner from the dealership. >> Okay, so here's the deal. I need to talk to my supervisor for a second based on what you're telling me. I am going to go ahead and just detain you for right now and put you in the back of my car. You're not under arrest at this time. I just need to talk to him and possibly call a few detectives and they might want to speak to you. Okay. Witness says she sprayed the the employee first >> and then he sprayed her. She's saying >> back. >> Okay. I was going to say she's saying the employee sprayed her first and she went to protect her child and got sprayed. But none of what she said makes sense with what the witness said or where she got sprayed. >> Right. >> So >> So yeah, I just they have they have the footage of that little interaction. So pretty much the manager came over here to get her license plate. She got pissed off. Soon as she got behind the car, she reached out and sprayed and then nothing got sprayed. He sprayed her right back and she like kind of ran off. >> It's now time to read her Miranda rights. And this officer wastes no time being clear and direct. >> Your name's on Helica, right? >> Yes. >> Okay. Need you to pay attention. Okay. Okay. So, you have the right to remain silent or make any state. You understand your rights as I've explained it to you. >> Okay. So, quick question. >> Maybe. >> Okay. Who was in the car with you? >> I don't know. >> You don't know who he is? Because from what we're being told, I guess let me just ask you this. Okay. So, you would be willing to pick up a complete and total stranger with your kids in the car. >> Yeah. I I pick him up all the time. Even like cuz I live right there in the war zone, you know? I live right there in the back side of town. I pick up women and children, too. I pick up older men. I pick up I pick up anybody. >> Okay. So, do you understand how that can be a danger to you and your children? >> Yes. told me I told the officer already that I now I understand like that's dangerous, you know, and can lead to things that like this. >> Okay. So, you have absolutely no idea who this guy is. No name, no nothing. Okay. Well, you're going to have to sit tight cuz next we're going to be getting a hold of the crimes against children. Okay. >> Please. No. >> Especially until we got to we got to identify who this guy is. So, >> I don't know. Hang up. Hang up. >> My babies. I want my kids. >> You guys on child abuse. There's no child abuse involved. There was no child abuse involved. I want my kids. I need to call my parents. >> You guys are doing this all wrong. You guys are doing this wrong. [screaming] Oh, my kids. My baby. >> All right, Angelica. We're going to head inside right now. I know you have a bracelet on your wrist and you have some piercings. Do you have any other jewelry on you? >> I need my phone to call my parents. >> What do you want to tell your parents? >> I need them to get my kids. >> So, they're not going to be able to get the kids. >> Yes, they are. >> Why can't they get my kids? >> I need to call them to get my kids. >> I'm going to go to this one here. >> I need to call them to get my kids. >> And go ahead and just stand right here. >> I need to call them to get my kids. >> Spread your feet as wide as you can. >> I need to call them to get my kids. >> Do you have anything on you? >> No, I don't. You understand me? Now she's more desperate than ever, pleading with officers not to involve child protection services. But if her children were really her priority, she wouldn't have risked everything for a stranger. >> I need to call my parents to care my kids. You guys are not putting them in the system. I need to call my dad like right now. >> What's your dad's name? >> My dad's name is David. I need to call him. >> What about your mom's name? Stay facing that link. >> I'm not I don't associate with my mom. Okay, suggest you're done. >> I need to talk to my dad now. I need to talk to my parents. I need them to go get my kids wherever you guys took them. >> Like I said, there's still another detective. >> Well, I need your dad to go pick them up. I need them to go get my kids in my car. >> You don't have anything in your bra. >> No, I don't. >> Okay, go ahead and lean forward. Just the top part. I'm going to shake out your bra. I'm going to take off the bracelet. Do your rings come off? No. I need to call my parents now cuz then you guys are going to put it in the system. I need to call my parents. >> I'm going to put a different parent. >> I need to call my parents. I need to call my dad. I need to call them right now. I need to call my parents. I need to call my parents right now. He had my kids. I need to call them now. >> Are they the only kids that you have? >> No, I have my other ones. My parents have them. >> They're with your parents? >> Yes. I need to call my parents. I need to call my parents. >> You can go ahead and take the seat. >> No, I need to call my parents. >> I hear that you want to call your parents. >> I need to call them to get my kids. >> But I told you what's happening. >> I need to call them to get my kids. [screaming] >> I need to call my parents. >> I need to call [music] my parents to get my kids. And I need my phone. >> You guys can't talk. I need to call my parents to get my kids. I need to call my parents to get my kids. I need to call my parents to get my kids. I call my >> The screaming doesn't stop until a DCF worker finally arrives. You call my bird again. You call my bird. I love my kids. >> Hey, Angelica. CFD is here. They want to ask you a few questions. Okay. >> Okay. Go. If you're going to talk to them, I need you to sit on the bench and stay seated. Don't get up or bother them. Okay. Just talk. >> Hi. >> Hi. >> My name is Kim. This is Dana. We're here because we received a report. >> You want to take? >> Okay. So, the allegations that we have of her other neglect, the alleged purpose, and then So, that's my report. So, what happened today? >> Yeah. Yeah, I picked up an on on him now and I took him to the Dollar General and he went into the Dollar General first and I didn't know that he was really stoked. He comes out of the Dollar General saying I paid for all this stuff. Well, he didn't say stuff. He said, "I paid for all. I had money to pay for all this stuff." So, I got out the car and I said, "What happened?" And then the altercation was between me and their employee. He started threatening me with pepper spray and stuff like that. >> And what was the reason that you picked up on my mouth? I mean, I always do it. >> It's hot out there. Do you do [snorts] it with your kids? >> Sometimes. >> And you're not afraid of your safety or your children's safety? >> Yeah. Now, you know, I realize there's a lot of the times I only do it for children and kids that are watching. Okay. >> I rarely do it for for males that >> Okay. And so, how much uh how many times a week would you say you pick up brown people? Um, women and children about six times a week. Males, it's rare. >> Okay. >> And no matter how often it happens, one thing is clear. You never let a stranger into your car while your children are inside. >> I don't know. >> I don't know. But down. You didn't know his name or anything? >> He didn't provide you with a name, a phone number or anything? >> No, I didn't ask for it. >> So, what happened? Sorry to interrupt you. >> I just picked him up and I >> And then what else happened? >> He got down first and he went in there, stayed in there for 10 minutes. I He came out was trying to walk out of the store. The man had locked the the door >> and I didn't know what was going on. They were yelling at each other cuz he came around from the other side of the store. So, I thought it was somebody, you know, somebody ran. He's wearing all black. He couldn't really tell if he was a worker or not. He wasn't even wearing worker clothes or anything. So, he comes around and there's an altercation between them and and I get out of the car and I'm like, "Well, what's going on?" You know, and he's like, "What do you think's going on?" And I'm like, "I don't know." >> And he's like, "Well, he's silly." And I was like, "How was I supposed to know he was silly?" I didn't know that, you know. And what about the first way? >> He got close to my car. I felt threatened. My kids are in the car. >> Wow. >> What was I supposed to do then? Like, I'm never going to go with you guys. Like, I'm a teacher. I teach at school. So, this child abuse charge is not right. >> You do have two prior cases with us. >> No, I don't. I've never had >> um the last report was closed on March 1st of 2023 and it was for an active shelter. >> And then you were homeless. >> Okay. >> And then we had another one back in 2019. >> I don't know what that was for. I don't remember that. Um you said you were a teacher. What school? >> I teach at Latin. >> Okay. [snorts] I've been a teacher for over 5 years. >> Okay. >> Like I have my own house. I have my own place. I have my own car. What is your address? Where do you live? >> My address is >> Okay. >> You're going to stand on those yellow boxes. >> In the end, the woman was charged with child abuse and battery. Number three, mom strikes her child's father and gets called out for neglecting her child. In Illinois on May 3rd, 2025, officers were called to a home after a dispute between a woman and the father of her child. This is what the female suspect had to say once the authorities got there. >> Okay, she was somebody on the >> No, I mean there's no hiding. I mean, this just happened. >> Okay. >> I'm I'm tired of it. It's always harassing me. Always always doing something. >> Okay. That wasn't from you hitting car or anything? >> No. Came and pushed me. Went on my property and came and pushed me. >> Okay. What? Um, who else was here to What is it? Anybody else? >> Okay. How old? >> Okay. All right. Is it >> But it's becoming This is becoming ridiculous. I have messages of insults of of um threats of trying to take away. It's not just like right now. It's like all the time. >> And who is this? I told him I was going to call the cops because he's trying to just threaten me or or harass me or tell me that I'm doing this or I'm doing that and it's getting to the point where like >> so how how did here let's talk over here that way you don't have to be by him. All right. Let's go over this way. >> Is okay. >> Yeah. All right. >> Okay. So tell me exactly what happened. how this started from starting. >> I just got home. It was on my property right here. Supposedly was going to get medicine, but also tells me that my doesn't get sick at his house. That he only gets sick at my house, which it's strep throat. >> Okay. >> Right now, every every kid has strep throat. >> For to come and blame me for something that kids are catching for being in school. Despite their child being ill, she rejects the medicine the father brought and makes it clear she has no intention of giving her child medicine on her own. >> So I got him the medicine. It's cuz he has like this whole body rash and it's >> okay. >> And I can't send it in book bag. So it was fine if he come and calls me and tells me, "Hey, I'm coming over. I'm going to pick it up." No. just shows up in my parking spot in parking lot and then has my going to figure it out which doesn't know where medicine is. There's no reason why there's no where medication is kept. >> Mhm. >> And [snorts] then then he comes and and starts telling me how this and that and it's just >> okay. And then again, keep going. What what happened? >> So I told him to leave my property. I told him to get out. >> Okay. >> And like no, I'm not going to leave. And then that's when I kicked the car. He came out and then that's when hitting me. >> Okay. So you kicked his car >> and then he got out of the car >> and started hitting me and pushing me. >> Oh, he covered in scratches. >> What? Okay. And what do you call this? >> Hey, listen. He's not taking a side here, dear. >> But >> this is my property. Understand my property. >> Not going to talk. But yeah, you like to talk to him. Mama, you need to calm down. >> No, here. Come back over with me, ma'am. Now, here's again, we're not here to take sides, okay? I didn't see his marks, but he sounds like scratch marks on him, okay? And you have marks on you, okay? Now, when I first asked you, because again, we had two callers. You called and also was calling and was saying like, "She's hitting my car." I asked you from the get-go, did you hit a car? And you said no. >> I didn't say I didn't hit it. >> Okay. But I'm just saying I need everything to be honest. Okay. >> Now, when he >> I told him to leave my property. >> Okay. But again, here's here's what I'm going to get to right now is if you ever have a situation like this where you want somebody to leave your property, call the police and we can come here and just have them leave instead of you. >> I don't want to get it to that point. I >> Well, this is worse. This is way worse >> because now witnessed a domestic. >> At this point, the officer offers advice on how to resolve matters more calmly going forward. Still, the woman refuses to hear him out. >> That's way worse. >> Well, it's been >> Okay, I'm just saying. Do you want to witness that or would you rather you have witness where >> No, this is why I avoid him. This is why we don't even see each other. >> Not supposed to be here. >> But listen, and this is why we do police standbys for people so that you wouldn't have to deal with this. >> We don't deal with each other. >> Okay? But I'm saying if you ever do, that's how you should go about it from now on. Okay? You can't be just trying to take things into your own hands. >> It's my house. >> I understand it's your house. But it's your house. But listen, it sounded like he was in his car and then you started kicking it and escalated the situation and then he got out. >> I was trying to tell how to the medicine works. >> Okay. So, how did he get the scratches on him? That's how >> came outside and started pushing me. >> Did try to get you away from the car cuz you were kicking it. >> No, he just got mad because everything is material for >> Okay. Okay. Let me rewind here. Okay. Before anything got physical, I'm guessing he was in his car, correct? >> Insulting me. Yes. >> Yeah. But saying things to you and you got upset. >> Well, I was listen. >> Okay. I know. But here's what I'm trying to understand here. So, he was in a car and but he was saying things that were upsetting you. So, then you kicked the car, right? [snorts] >> Yes. >> Okay. So, you kicked the car. >> Yes. >> And did you hit do anything else? You were kicking it repeatedly or how were you kicking? >> I kicked it one time and I walked away. >> So you kicked it one time, he got out of the car and then and then what happened after I got out of the car? >> And then he was pushing me and telling me that he was going to take my and I told him not yet because we're not done talking. >> Okay. >> We're not. >> And did and how did he get the scratches? >> What? He started pushing me. I had to defend myself too. >> Okay. >> Started pushing me to get >> And exactly how did you get that mark? And then that >> threw me to my car. >> Okay. So that then you got those marks from hitting your car. >> No, I >> That's what I was asking. >> Sure, why not? >> Just when it looks like the situation is resolved, a new problem comes to the surface. >> What do you mean sure? Why not? You said you just said he pushed you into your car and I said you got those marks from when you hit your car, right? From when he pushed you in you >> into the ground and then then I fell into my car. Yes. >> Okay. So now it's into the ground and then it's it was the car and then you said it was the ground. Then I asked you >> one of them. It's on the knee. My knee fell into the ground. I was asking you where you got these injuries and then that's why I just needed a straight. >> Yes, for documentation. Yes. I need to document how you got that's why I'm asking how you got. >> So when you got out and you were you were kicking the car, got out >> pushed you and then he pushed you after he got out of the car. >> Yes. >> Okay. And then you fell on the ground >> to leave my property once again. >> Okay. And then what? You fell on the ground or >> was pushing me from the beginning and then I fell on the ground. I mean, it was constant pushing until I got to my car, from car to my [clears throat] car. >> Okay. So, >> I was being pushed from all the way over there all the way to here until I hit my car and fell down. Well, I didn't I fell down and then hit my car [laughter] or however it happens. I mean, it doesn't matter. >> It it it does. >> Okay. He was pushing me until I got to the almost to the car and I fell and I slammed into my car and cement because obviously my knee is is scraped and this scrape is not going to get from the from the car. >> Okay. Again, I was just asking. I can't presume anything. I have to ask. And again, it sounds like he was in a car and you went and struck car and that's why he came out to try to get you away from his car is what it sounds like to me. >> I wanted him I had told him repeatedly to get off my property. >> Okay. And so what are you wanting out of this? >> I want him to not go around my house or my property or around me. >> Does he live here at all? >> No. >> Okay. Does he stay here at all? >> No. >> Live somewhere else? >> Yes. >> Okay. Do you own this home? >> It's my [snorts] dad's. >> Okay. So, your dad is the homeowner? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, if you called your dad, would you want us to trespass if he returns to this address arrested? >> It seems like we finally reached a resolution, but another issue arises. And you would have to work out a different custody agreement where you would have to meet somewhere else. >> We don't even see from school. >> Okay. >> And then when he grabs him off grabs him off and my comes in by himself. >> Okay. Here's here's what I need to tell you though. If he does get trespass from here, he can't be meeting here with the kid, you guys find different spots. Okay. But again, >> I'd rather meet at a police station or somewhere where he can't go and and try to insult me for everything I do. >> Okay. And we can do that anytime you want to do custody exchanges and we do those at the LL Police Department. So it's that's no problem. >> I mean like I said and I showed you the message. I had already said it beforehand. This is way before. Okay. >> This is yesterday that I told him I will go to the cops and you need to stop messaging me and start and stop texting me and stop harassing me. >> Okay. Okay. All right. Give me a minute. >> All right. Listen. From what happened, it sounds like you were the aggressor first and then you hit him first. It's >> on my property. >> It doesn't matter. >> My property. >> So, you did hit it first. >> I didn't hit him first. >> Okay. Well, >> he pushed me cuz he got mad about the car. >> Okay. Well, from what I got from even talking to your seeing injuries and then your story being inconsistent, it seems like you were the one that was the aggressor. Okay. >> Yeah. >> So, you're going to be you're going to be under arrest. >> Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? >> I'm not kidding you. >> I told multiple times you're under arrest for domestic battery. Are you kidding me? >> No. So, put your hands behind your back. I did this so I did this so that your didn't see this. I let >> me hands behind your back. >> I think even heard me tell to the the property a million times. >> See? Yes, I know. >> So, how am I? >> Just because somebody's on your property doesn't mean you get to hit him. >> So, my injuries don't count, right? >> Never said that. >> Then why is he okay to go? Why? Why is this happening? Are you kidding? >> There's a thing as self-defense. And he was defending himself >> from what? Um me hitting his car >> from you hitting >> I didn't hit him first. He started pushing me. >> Okay. Well, you're said otherwise. >> Now that she's cupped, her resistance only intensifies and her hostility toward the officers becomes clear. >> Don't touch me. I could walk by myself. >> Okay. Well, I'm I'm holding on. You guys are under. >> Yeah. Where am I going to run? You have anything sharp on you? >> No. >> Change money. Same thing. All right, we need back. >> Do you need anybody lock up your dog? >> Can I at least put it in? >> There's nobody else in my house. >> Can you give me permission to let him in the house? >> No, I want to [laughter] put him in. It'll take like 2 minutes. And why can't you guys get the story of what he heard, too? >> Well, who hurt? >> The neighbor. I'll go talk to him real quick. >> Oh yeah. Yeah. If he was outside. >> Go put the dog in the house. Leave her in there. >> Okay. Just put the dog in the house real quick. You got your body cam on so you'll see the dog. Yep. >> Put the dog Just put the dog in the house. Come on. In the end, the woman was charged with domestic battery. Number two, when a woman's candy turns out to be dangerous for children. Children rely on adults to guide and protect them. But what happens when it's the adults creating the danger? This was the concern in this case when officers received reports of a woman handing out substance laced chocolates. A day later, they spotted a woman matching her description. This time, offering the same sweets to adults. Here's the confrontation. >> What's going on? >> Hey, ma'am. Can you step out of the car for me, please? >> No. >> Yeah. Well, I'm telling you, get out of the car. >> I'm not going to get out of the car. >> Yes, ma'am. I'm giving you a lawful order. You got to step out of the car. >> I need to call my lawyer. >> Okay, that's fine. You still got to step out of the car, though. >> No, I don't. >> Yes. Yes, you do. >> No, cuz I'm going home. Ma'am, yesterday there was someone handing out gummies and chocolates to little kids at the park. >> No. Okay. And then I was just at the park and I see you handing more gummies to an adult. >> No, that was my friend. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> I I'm I'm stopping you because you match the description of someone that was handing out gummies to kids yesterday at the park. >> Yesterday I didn't have any gummies, first of all. >> Okay. Or or chocolates? >> No. No, not >> Okay. Well, I'm subbing you because you matched the description, so that's why I'm talking to you. >> What is What's your name? >> Joanna. >> Joanna. Okay. Where do you live, Joanna? >> In Wheeling. >> What's your address? >> I got to call Friday >> because right now >> you're being detained because I believe that you're handing out gummies to kids at >> No, I'm not being detained. Call my lawyer. Close the door. >> This is This conversation is over. >> Well, ma'am, if if you have nothing to do with it, that's fine. But I need to know I need to know who you are. >> I have to go to my kids. I have to go pick up my kids. Leave me alone. >> Okay. Where do you have to pick your kids up at? >> In Robins. >> Is that a town? >> Yes. >> Okay. How far away is that? >> He can tell you. He's my driver. >> Okay. Do you have your ID with you? >> Yes. >> May I see your ID, please? >> Oh my god. >> And do you have any on you right now? >> Yes. >> Okay. May I see that as well, please? >> No, because I have medical card. >> Okay. Can I see that as well, please? >> Yes. But you're stressing me out. >> Okay. >> I have this whole bag open. >> Okay. May May I see? Yes. Thank you. Do you want to step out real quick? >> No, I'm not stepping out. I know my law. >> She won't leave the vehicle yet. She allows her bag to [music] be searched and acknowledges that it contains illegal substances. >> Watch her for a second. green bag right now. >> The green bag. He took all my >> ma'am. I have it right here on the hood of my car. >> Okay, give it back to me cuz I'm leaving. >> Okay, ma'am. >> Excuse me. So >> here's the here's the deal, right? >> I'm not listening. Call my lawyer. Stand by. >> Thank you. >> Perfect. >> Whenever you're ready to go, >> we're going to have to pull her out of the car, just so you know. >> PD1. >> No, >> no, not at all. All right. Do you have problems? Pick her up. Yeah. >> All right. Yep. Secret question. >> Okay. Ma'am, I know you want your lawyer. That's perfectly fine. You have to stop out of the car or we we have to put hands on you. I don't want to do that. We can go very very nicely. It's no problem. This won't take >> hands on me >> if you don't get out of the car. >> For what? >> Because I'm telling you to step out of the car. By law, you have to. >> Okay. Move. Move. Move. >> The standoff drags on and with her continued defiance, officers prepare to step in. What's your first name? >> Joanna. >> Joanna, come on out. >> No. Get move. >> I'm not going to move. Step out of the car. >> How? I'm Yeah, I'm tall. I can't move. >> I know. >> So, what's in your hand? >> Ma'am, listen. Do you feel okay right now? >> That's what I take. >> Okay. Anything else? >> No. >> Okay. Okay. Ma'am, breathe. >> Take this off. >> I can't right now cuz you're flailing around. You're not listening to us. >> If you if you listen to us, things will go a lot smoother. You'll be a lot more comfortable. Take a deep breath. Okay. You're okay. >> I'm not okay. You don't have to put this on me cuz I'm not going to hurt you. I never hurt nobody in my life. >> I don't think you ever see in a hurry like a short ride. >> Please take it off. >> As soon as we get there, we can. >> We're going to get you into the air conditioning. >> At last, she's calm. And with that, officers can move forward with booking and processing without further incident. >> Be careful. Don't hit your head and get in. Okay. >> Okay. Thanks, Just >> It's a 5minute drive. >> Sit there. Slide your feet in. >> You want me to help you? You got it. >> Okay. What do you have in that guy's car that needs to come with you? I have your bag. What else? Do you have a jacket? >> Yes, the red jacket. >> What else? >> I think that's it. >> Okay, so I have your green bag. It's got your phone jacket. It's got your >> Take this off. >> I I can't, ma'am. >> In the end, she faced 12 misdemeanor charges, including delivery of controlled substances to a minor and endangering the health of a child. Number one, what starts as drunk driving turns worse when police discover a baby in the car. On July 14th, 2024, officers responded to an unusual accident. A woman had reportedly stopped her car in the middle of the road and started wandering. What they didn't yet realize was that she wasn't the only one involved. >> You name my name, Anna. Thank you for being here. >> Yeah, of course, Anna. What's going on tonight? >> This >> Oh, your car is ready. You speak English? >> I speak English, Ukrainian, and English, and Russian. >> Oh, very cool. >> Three languages. >> It's amazing. Good for you. >> Thank you. What language do you speak? >> English. >> Nice. >> Just English. I'm not that cool. >> What uh what is in Ukrainian juice? >> I'm not sure. >> You're not sure? >> Okay.
