sometimes life can be Stranger Than Fiction for instance there are times in history when unbelievable things happen at the same time like a sick twist of fate let's take a look at some of the most uncanny moments in history from Mark Twain's birth and death to the Hoover Dam deaths here are the 15 weirdest coincidences in history number 15. Mark Twain's birth and death Samuel Clemens or more popularly known by his pen name Mark Twain was an American humorist novelist and travel writer his most famous Works include the Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn both of which are Classics that you've probably read as a kid Mark Twain died at the age of 74 in 1910 but to this day he's still known as one of the greatest American Writers of all time but there is something that not a lot of people know about him Twain was born in 1835 and on that same day Haley's Comet passed by our planet this is incredibly rare because this amazing Comet only appears every 74 years or so and it's become associated with different things in history being born the same day a rare Comet appeared is already amazing on its own but as it turned out Mark Twain made an incredible prediction in 1909 Twain claimed that since he was born on Earth with the appearance of Haley's Comet he should also leave along with it it was to everyone surprised that Mark Twain really did die on the same same day Haley's Comet appeared in 1910 Not only was the American writer born as Hayley's Comet appeared in the night sky but he also foretold his own death and left along with a comet as he said they came together and now they must go together before we go on like this video smash the Subscribe button and click the notification Bell right now number 14. missing in 2007 a man named Michael traveling in the United Kingdom tried to find his missing daughter whom he lost contact with for over 10 years after separating from his first wife he had limited information about her and all he knew was that she moved to Sudbury Suffolk than nothing else he took his other two daughters to find her but because of the limited information he had the search ended quickly however Michael was desperate to find his daughter and he asked the local newspaper company to help him as a last resort the photographer from Suffolk Free Press agreed to snap a photo of Amanda's two daughters and swore to publish it in the next paper they released now here's the freaky part Michael's daughter named Lisa saw her father's photo in the newspaper and in that very same picture Lisa and her mother could be seen walking in the background apparently Lisa and her mother had been standing near the area where Michael took the photo and you can still see them walking away because of this the father and daughter reunion became more special Michael fine finally got to see his daughter after 10 long years and what's more he was also welcomed by his three grandchildren number 13 real-life cannibalism many of us know the tormented American poet and writer Edgar Allan Poe he's known for his short Tales of wickedness and crime including the Telltale Heart in 1843 and The Cask of Amontillado in 1846 but did you know that he's also some sort of literary prophet in 1838 he published a book titled The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket just like most of his works the book had Macabre themes in the story the crew of the ship who called themselves grampus found themselves stranded with no food or water and well desperate times call for desperate measures the crew allegedly found a turtle to eat but it wasn't enough for them to survive desperate the crew decided to draw straws to figure out which one among them would sacrifice their life to feed the others the death straw was plucked out by a man named Richard Parker and with his ill luck he was eaten by his fellow survivors here's where it gets crazy in 1884 decades after the book was published a yacht named minionette left England and headed towards Sydney Australia England is thousands of miles away from Australia and a yacht isn't really meant for that long of a journey it wasn't surprising that the yacht sank in a storm the four people on it escaped through the Lifeboat but they didn't have enough food or water and you guessed it they survived by eating a turtle but just like in Poe's book it wasn't enough just like Poe's novel a man named Richard Parker was on the yacht and was eaten by his fellow survivors quite freaky right now to end this on a somewhat positive note did you know that as much as Poe is known for having a lot of miserable moments in his life and for writing sad and Macabre literature he was a softy for his beloved pet a black cat named Katarina it was said that while Edgar wrote the cat would often be found perched on his shoulder looking over his writing purring steadily as if she's giving her approval number 12. Titanic prediction I don't know what's with these writers predicting all kinds of bad things in the future but they're giving me the heebie-jeebies we all know about the greatest Maritime disaster of all time the sinking of the RMS Titanic almost everyone has heard of this disaster and you've probably seen shows and movies inspired by it but not a lot of people are aware that a book perfectly predicted the sinking of the Titanic 14 years before the RMS Titanic sank writer Morgan Robertson first published his novel futility or the wreck of the Titan just like the Titanic the ship in the novel was an engineering Marvel and was considered the grandest ship of its time Robertson's fictional ship Titan was 800 feet long while the Titanic measured a little over 880 feet The Uncanny similarities don't stop there just like the Titanic Titan set sail in April and it sank around midnight the speed at which the two vessels were traveling was also incredibly similar with the Titan traveling at 25 knots while the Titanic was traversing the ocean at 22.5 knots both of the vessels collided with an iceberg which caused both to capsize the similarities end there but hey one or two coincidences are already freaky but this much is downright weird number 11 unlucky Friday the 13th we all have superstitions around the world and almost everyone Associates Friday the 13th with bad luck and the number 666 with the devil now imagine this you bought a flight to a different country and it just so happened that it was scheduled for Friday the 13th Would you board the plane or would you rather pass if you firmly believe in Superstition you probably wouldn't take the flight on October 13 2017 some people took the risk and boarded Flight 666 toward Helsinki Finland or hell on Friday the 13th I don't know about you but that's a lot of unlucky numbers in one combo it was the last time Flight 666 flew on Friday the 13th and you probably think something tragic happened on that day but despite the hellish combination of numbers none of the bad superstitions came true and the plane landed safely in Hell from Copenhagen after that flight in 2017 Flight 666 to hell was changed by by the airlines because of the growing number of flights however they do still have flight sin to hell so people that want to test out their luck can still take this hellish route number 10 the sandwich that started a war the butterfly effect posits that small changes could lead to large-scale and unpredictable situations in the future with that being said did you know that a single sandwich started a war here's what happened in 1914 Archduke Franz Ferdinand heir to the throne of the austro-hungarian Empire visited Bosnia Herzegovina along with his wife despite the many warnings about a possible assassination attempt the Archduke had little security and what's more their route through the city had been published as expected seven members of The Secret Serbian Society black hand waded along the archduke's Route One of Them threw a grenade at the archduke's car but it bounced off and injured two people instead the other black hand members escaped and the Archduke Got Away unscathed however later on the Archduke decided to visit the people who got injured in the grenade explosion this time the Archduke and Company decided to take an alternate route to the hospital and avoid the city center but for some reason the driver wasn't informed about the motorcade took the original route and Midway into the journey the general who was inside the car noticed that they took the wrong turn and argued with a driver to reverse out of Franz Joseph Street this is where things turned for the worse gavrillo princip one of the black hand members just so happened to be on the same street purportedly buying a sandwich at a cafe he saw the archduke's car and decided to assassinate him and his wife and this assassination sparked the first world war one of the biggest and the most tragic events in the history of mankind and that's how a sandwich in one wrong turn became the Catalyst of a war that killed Millions number nine beginning and the end of the war in 1854 Wilmer McLean purchased a home in Manassas Virginia and years later it became the place where the First Battle of Bull Run took place it all started when artillery was fired at McLean's house which at the time was being used as a headquarters for confederate Brigadier General PGT Beauregard the civil war broke out in 1861 with the First Battle of Bull Run and after the tragic fight McLean decided to have a peaceful life and relocate to a new home with his wife in Appomattox Virginia but as it turned out fate seemed to think that he should also witness the end of the war in 1865 the war came to a close at the Appomattox Courthouse just a few steps away from McLean's new home number eight unluckiest man in history if we're going by the most popular statistic the odds of lightning hitting you is one in a million but if we're going by the data of the National Weather Service there's a one in six hundred thousand chance that Joe gets struck by it but regardless of the data it's quite obvious that there's just no way that you'll get struck by lightning more than once in your life even if you actively try to get struck by it I mean usually people who get struck by lightning don't even get the chance to live afterward but did you know that a British officer got struck by lightning not once not twice but four separate times major Walter Summerford went into battle in the first world war and in 1918 he was struck by lightning while riding a horse through a field in Belgium the incident left half of his body paralyzed and forced him to go into early retirement you would think he would live a safe life afterward but in 1924 Walter was once again hit by a lightning bolt while fishing along the local River this time the entire right side of his body was paralyzed Summerford amazingly managed to recover two years later and was able to walk again surely this time he would have a peaceful life right wrong in 1930 Walter Summerford was taking a walk and as if nature had a Target on him he was once again struck by lightning but this time he wasn't so lucky the incident left him completely paralyzed and after two years of battling the complications caused by it Walter passed away now surely there's no way that he would be hit again right but nope Nature's wrath found him once again even though he was already six feet underground in 1936 four years after his death another storm brewed and lightning struck summerford's gravestone I don't know what he did but after four lightning strikes nature finally let him rest number seven triplet experiment let me ask you a question do you think we're influenced more by our genetics or the environment we grew up in this is the question researchers wanted to answer the age-old question nature or nurture some researchers and psychologists believe that what runs in your genes is what makes you you while some believe that regardless of your genetics the environment will be the one that will mold you I say it's a mix of both but in an attempt to settle the seemingly lifelong debate a mind-boggling experiment was started in 1980 the triplets Robert Edward and David were separated at Birth and they only learned about the existence of each other on their 19th birthdays the triplets were born to a teenage girl in 1961 and an adoption agency took care of the triplets transfer to new homes the boys were raised within 100 miles of each other and none of the adoptive parents knew about the other two this is the beginning of the development research and for the first 10 years of the boy's lives they were visited by researchers and child psychologists the triplets grew up in different environments and long story short the research was pretty extreme and brutal it ended quite tragically two of the triplets had psychiatric problems growing up and the other was charged guilty of a murder of a woman in a 1978 robbery number six woman who survived three disasters this is violet Jessa and she was probably one of the luckiest women that ever lived one of the unluckiest depending on your perspective Violet was born in 1887 in Argentina and her first challenge came to her at a young age when she contracted tuberculosis the doctors expected her to live for a few months at Max but she recovered and grew up to be a ship stewardess throughout her career Violet survived the sinking of the Titanic as well as two other Maritime accidents HMHS Britannic and HMS Hawk she continued as a ship stewardess and died due to a heart attack later on number five the gym twins in 1940 the gym Twins were separated at Birth and put up for adoption neither of them were aware of the other's existence but it seems like twins have an invisible string connecting them surprisingly the twins lived almost identical lives while being a mere 40 miles away from each other for one both of them were named James or Jim for short both were great at math and disliked spelling and both married a woman named Linda with a later on divorced you would think that the similarities end there but no the two decided to remarry and it just so happened that their second wives were both named Betty I guess they also unknowingly had the same taste in names because they named their sons James Allen the two gyms were also chain smokers and drove Chevrolets finally they also had pretty similar jobs with one working as a deputy sheriff and the other a security guard it was almost as if they were living in an alternate universe of each other number four Destiny or coincidence do you believe that we have soul mates I know it sounds corny but perhaps it's really true that there are people among us who are destined to be together because how else can you explain this there are more than seven billion people in the world and out of all of them these two managed to find each other Amy maiden and Nick wheeler married each other in 2014. their relationship was perfect and a few years after meeting each other they made a pleasant but shocking Discovery while flipping through old family photo albums Amy noticed something in her husband's photo at the beach in Cornwall in the picture her husband was posing for a photo and in the background you can see Amy building a sand castle this was taken 11 years before the two met who would have thought that they had crossed paths years before they fell for each other what's more amazing is that Nick and his family didn't live in Cornwall at the time and they moved there only a year later the two families may have been near each other on that beach trip but they probably never thought that their children would marry each other or 20 years later number three man who survived the two atomic bombs August 6 1945 marks the last day of 29 year old sutomo yamaguchi's business trip for his employer Mitsubishi heavy Industries and Hiroshima he was preparing to leave for the day and was excited to finally see his wife hisako and their son katsutoshi but on that fateful day an American B-29 bomber dropped the gun type uranium bomb little boy on Hiroshima the blast destroyed almost the entirety of Hiroshima and Yamaguchi himself was pushed back by the explosion he sought refuge in an irrigation ditch surviving with a ruptured eardrum and some bad burns on his upper body he spent the night at an air raid shelter with his colleagues and the next day he quickly boarded the train to head toward his family in Nagasaki yep I think you already know what happened next upon reaching Nagasaki on August 8th Yamaguchi immediately got his Burns treated and on August 9th he dragged himself out of bed and reported for work and just as he was telling his boss about the atomic explosion in Shima the implosion type plutonium bomb fat man was dropped on Nagasaki originally the bomb was supposed to be detonated over kokura and Fukuoka but because of other circumstances it was dropped on Nagasaki tens of thousands of people were affected and Yamaguchi and his family were among them when the explosion happened Yamaguchi thought that he would never see his family again once again he witnessed a single bomb destroy an entire city he was hit once again by extreme radiation and his wounds and burns were exposed but despite all the pain this main priority was to reach his family yamaguchi's heart dropped upon seeing his house decimated by the blast but luckily his wife and his son survived apparently his wife had been looking for a burn ointment for her husband and when the explosion came she along with her son easily reached a tunnel for cover Yamaguchi and his family may have lived but he suffered from the effects of radiation his hair fell out and his arms at gangerous wounds he was on the brink of death and yet he survived after that Yamaguchi lived a long life and died at the age of 93 in 2010. I would say he had had enough adventure for a lifetime number two Stephen Hawking's death born on January 8 1942 Stephen Hawking or Stephen William Hawking was an English theoretical physicist that contributed a lot to relativity theories in quantum mechanics he died age 76 on March 14 2018. it just so happened that Stephen Hawking's birth coincided with a death of another great mind Galileo Galilei meanwhile his death not only coincided with pi day but also with the birthday of the genius Albert Einstein who was born on March 14 1879 it was almost as if something is connecting these three renowned Geniuses number one Hoover Dam deaths you've probably heard about the legends that surround the Hoover Dam many people claim that almost 100 people died during its construction because of different accidents however the most uncanny tragedy associated with this Dam are the tragic accidents of a father and son on December 20th 1921 John Gregory Tierney died after being caught in a flash flood while surveying the location of the dam he was carried away by the Raging Colorado River and became one of the very first casualties of the project on December 20th 1935 Gregory's only son Patrick William Tierney fell to his death while working on the dam he died 14 years after his father's death both of them died while working on the dam and both died on the same day 14 years apart now this is quite a tragic coincidence according to the family Gregory's wife became heartbroken upon the death of her beloved husband and son and December 20 became a day of grief for the old woman it's not every day that these freaky coincidences happen do you also have any uncanny or strange experiences just like the ones in this video make sure to share your stories in the comments below also check out our other cool stuff showing up on the screen right now and I'll see you in the next video take care everybody
