Caught mid theft, these suspects fumbled their way through some of the worst excuses ever heard. Here are five cases of the worst shoplifters ever captured on police body cam. Number five, shoplifter plays dumb after getting caught, but the cops knew better. Coming up on June 5th, 2024, officers responded to a call from a local Target after a woman was caught trying to leave the store with a concealed JBL speaker. The authorities arrived quickly and headed straight for the suspect waiting in the back. Here's what she has to say. >> How you do you have it on camera over here? Yeah. Is it pulled up? >> Oh, yeah. >> All right. Real quick before I talk to you, I just got to read you some things. >> Okay. >> Then you're just going to give me a verbal yes or no whether or not you understand. >> So, you have the right to remain silent. Do you understand? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, what's going on? Why are the You know, just what's going on? >> I was I wasn't I was trying to move my car to get my cash out of my car. I wasn't trying to take it, >> but I It just kind of It went over my head. It wasn't. It was not intentional, which I know sounds really stupid. >> Okay. What What exactly did you walk walk out with? >> It was a speaker. >> And you walked all the way out? >> No, I just got to the door and then I was and then he saw me. >> And you said you intended on getting cash for it? >> Yeah. I was going to go to my car that I had my cash in my car. So, I was going to go check make sure cuz I I brought him in my car right now. So, I was going to go to my car to get my cash and then I completely forgot that I was pushing the card. So, which I understand I understand that's how it >> I mean it doesn't sound either way to me I'm just trying to figure out exactly why we're here and what's going on you know >> okay I want to talk to him and [Music] see what uh camera shows >> she claims the speaker simply slipped her mind but the footage shows her deliberately placing it in the cart and despite its size She continues to say she forgot it was there. With that, the officers ask her to write an official statement. >> So, I don't know when she came to the store, but I basically started watching her right here. >> So, she grabs it. >> Big speaker, huh? >> Yeah. 400 bucks. >> So, just fast forward. >> She kind of does like a few laps around. [Music] She was like right here electronics. Now she's here kind of just locked around the store. >> Okay. >> But yeah, I know these fade after a time. So is that fine? >> What's that? >> Is this one fine? They're like slightly different in terms of the layout, but same same concept. >> They still have the same the price and stuff, right? >> Yep. >> Okay, that's fine. >> Everything. We just can't copy that. He doesn't copy her in here. >> Here you go. Do you want to write a statement willingly stating what you just told my partner on camera? >> Um, >> it's just your side of the story. >> It's not if I want to. It's if you want to. >> It's your It's your >> show. basically you tell me your side of the story and what happened. That way I can have it to document. >> He has it. >> Yeah. Don't worry about the top. >> And then what happened? >> All right. So since here you said that you were going to get cash. Um, >> I was going to my car to make sure that I had my cash in there. I'm not a thousand% sure, but I was going there. >> She says she didn't use her card because she wanted to get cash from her car. Cash, she openly admits might not even be there. That claim alone raises eyebrows, and the more questions the officer asks, the more tangled her answers become. >> So, you were going to bring it with you? You were but you were gonna bring the speaker with you just to see. >> No, because No, I that's if you could stay on there or whatever. I forgot I had the carpet. >> So, I was just trying to >> Okay. Now, how do you how do you get paid? >> Um, I came >> like what do you what do you do for work? >> I Instacart. >> Instacart? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. And so, you're not sure whether or not you had that money? You don't have money in a bank account? Why do you have cash? Um because I don't I have stuff coming out of my bank and I don't like to use my bank account like that. >> So I get money and I take it out of the bank. >> Okay. And again, you said you weren't sure whether or not you had that money in uh in your car. >> I I thought I thought I do, but I I was going to just to grab it and just say >> Okay. Do you have any bank statements or anything that even shows that you would have that money in your account? >> No, because I came back here with it. >> When's the last time you worked for Instacart? >> Um, I didn't order today. I made $9. >> $9? >> Correct. >> And I was going to continue doing it. And I also do Uber Eats, which I love. >> Okay. It's just just because, you know, as I'm piecing this together, what I'm getting at is that I'm not seeing that you had the intentions to pay for it. I mean, the the fact of the matter is you committed the crime. So, I was just trying to get some more information on how you could, you know, if you even had the money. You even say yourself that you were not, you're not sure if you had the money in your car. >> Not in my car. I was going to see to make sure before I obviously purchased it. >> Okay. >> And um you don't have that money in your account as of now either, do you? >> No, I do not. >> Okay. >> She thought talking would help her case, but in the end it only confirmed what officers already suspected. And now they're ready to act. >> All right. Okay. >> Yeah. >> All right. Do you have uh anything in your pockets? Can you stand up for me? >> Just face away. Face away. Go ahead. Put your hands behind your back. >> You think I could call my mom before we do this? >> No, >> I think it's um >> I can get I mean I can get the money to pay for it right now. >> Well, the thing is, like I said, you already committed the crime. in your pockets. Hey, are you uh how do you identify? >> I'm a female. >> Female. >> Okay. >> You have anything in your pockets? >> Here. You want to turn your hand over before? >> No. >> Oh, now you tightened it. >> Can I call my mother? >> He's a primary officer. He's going to explain everything to you in a minute. So, just relax. >> Go ahead and turn your hand over. I'm just trying to make this more comfortable for you. >> All righty. Go ahead and actually real quick. What else do you have in your pockets? I saw you just put your phone in there. >> My phone. I have my vape, my keys, my wallet. >> Okay. They're not going to let you keep the vape. >> Stand stand right here. Just so it just goes over everything. Tell me like stand over here. You stand over there. So grab everything. >> Yeah. And just I give you consent. Just pull him off. >> There you go. Perfect, bro. Well, when you just walk around real quick, you just >> I'm going to show you the form. Let me just make sure you're hold >> this way. Target shoplifter tries her luck a second time and gets caught red-handed. On August 1st, 2025, officers were dispatched once again to a Target after a familiar face returned. This time to shoplift for the second time that day. According to the staff, the woman had already managed to leave the store with unpaid items just hours earlier. But instead of staying away, she came back acting as if nothing had happened. What she didn't realize was that the store's loss prevention team had already recognized her and quietly called the police. When she pushed her cart past all points of sale without paying, officers were already waiting for her at the exit. >> Looks like the mail just went back inside. >> For yourself, huh? >> For yourself, your receipt. >> I have a Apple. I have a Target Pay. You >> got an ID on your >> Oh, of course it is. Convenient. >> Come see the sergeant first. >> What you want to do? >> Get your ID out. >> It's not here. >> Where is it at? >> Where's your car at? See the sergeant? >> I live across the street. No, it's not yours. >> No, mine. What happened? >> You didn't pay for yourself. >> So, if I need to go do my seat, >> that's what I can do. >> What do you mean? >> What's your first name? >> How did you pay with it? >> Cuz my phone did. >> How did you pay with it? That's what That's why I'm asking. >> Apple Pay, gang. Like, if I'm lying, I'm dead. Before my phone just dead, it was Apple Pay like where I could go like this. And that's why I telling you like my phone just dead. >> Oh, they're telling us other way. So, >> okay. Well, how can anything go through with it? Like if I'm like, okay, you had a charger in your phone in your car. >> I don't charge saying that the suspect pushing the car is the person you're talking about and they will complain. >> Okay. >> All right. Go to police. Let me grab your phone so it doesn't >> know what day today. >> Friday. >> What's today? >> With the cops on, you'd expect her to stop talking. Instead, she ramps up denying, deflecting, and scrambling to explain her way out. >> You're not worried about Cook County? >> I'm not saying I'm not worried about Cook County, but like >> Hold on. Hold on. >> So, put me in the car. >> We will. Don't worry. >> Grab my grabat. >> Right. So, then grab my phone. You going to put me in the car seat? >> Uh, no. >> So, that being said, >> no listen. >> They going to listen or no? >> I'm listening. What's up? >> Somebody I'm What? >> You been drinking? >> No. >> Well, it sure smells weird. You can >> wait. Hey, can you roll down my window? >> You said what? >> Hold on. I got you right now. >> She was here earlier this morning. >> Okay. >> Stole some stuff. >> Yeah, she wreaks a booze. So >> So she earlier this morning she stole some stuff. LP didn't know exactly what. >> Let's get some pictures of this before turn it back in. >> So he's uh he's working that up now. >> Okay. She came back today or just now. So, I'll take this back to him. He'll get he'll get us a receipt for it to know how much this is. He's working on how much it was earlier today. This is obviously uh earlier today was unreported yet. >> Tammano. >> So, there'll be there'll be essentially two two cases. >> Two cases, >> right? One this morning and then one right now. >> Is the guy still in there? >> The guy's in the guidance. >> We're going to get you back to station in just a little bit. >> So, what that mean? Wait. Come back, Amaya. Am Amino, come back. Wait, >> I know you're intoxicated, so your uh timeline is messed up. >> So, with that being said, FOR MY PEOPLE BIRTHDAY. NO, let me talk. >> Let me talk. >> You're just screaming at me and I'm trying to answer your question >> cuz Okay, let me talk first. >> Do you want to answer your question? >> Can I talk first? >> Sure. I was trying to answer you, but scream at me some more. That had nothing to do with me. If y'all didn't get the person right then and there. >> Officers quickly pick up on her intoxicated state. But even taking that into account, her excuses don't line up with what they've seen. >> Have nothing to do with me. >> You're under arrest for uh >> for retail theft. And um >> that quite freaks me that still have nothing to do with me. >> Right. the cart you pushed out with all the >> have nothing to do with me. >> Okay. What does your name? >> Try to take me to jail and don't know my name. What's my name? >> You never told me your name. So, tell me your name in there. Let's go down there. >> Okay. I'm not going to tell you. Y'all going to have to call your sergeant for me to talk to him. >> Well, you want me to do your property? She didn't put HER NAME DOWN. >> OKAY. WELL, I'M SAYING WHAT I'M SAYING. So >> quite frankly, call your sergeant and to get my property, right? >> What do you need a sergeant for? >> Cuz I see it cuz y'all arrested people on their own. >> Hold up. Hold up. You're going too far. Hold on. >> No, I ain't going too far. >> I got to take these off. >> Not right now. >> I'm going to take them off. You're going to take a seat. All right. >> I'm going to take my seat. But like I said, like I just told his >> uh rest in the wrong direction. Hold >> hand. >> Hold up. Hold up. Hold on. >> Let me twist my arm. >> Hold on. >> Twist. >> I'm going to take it off from you. >> Twist it. >> What do you want me to twist it for? >> You can take it off. >> I don't have to twist it. Take a seat. >> Annayia, >> take a seat. Like frankly, if you put me in the system right now, they going to tell you nerd. It ain't even you. >> You >> I hate pink people. >> Pink people. >> Pink. >> Okay. >> You're brown just like me. >> What is >> pink people? >> Yeah. >> You >> Mhm. >> make life hard. >> Yeah. >> Y'ALL DON'T LIKE PEOPLE FOR REAL. Y'ALL don't like for real. SO I DON'T KNOW. I'LL KEEP WORKING WITH YOU. YOU'RE UH >> BUT QUITE FRANKLY, SHUT UP AND LET ME TALK. >> NO, YOU'RE BEING QUITE >> YOU'RE BEING QUITE ME. >> She turns to claims of discrimination, insisting she's being treated unfairly, but with solid evidence and witness accounts, there's little left to argue. >> You've been screaming at me. >> Let me talk like I said. >> Can you talk without screaming at me? >> I'm going to talk. >> Okay. >> But you're going to let me talk first. >> Go ahead. >> I have nothing against you. That's good. That means me and you're going to get along, right? >> Cuz frankly, my grandpa is real. >> That's good. >> I'm Mexican. You ain't doing nothing to me. You did your job. >> But this whole pink person >> quite frankly, y'all are deporting people. >> I'm deporting people. >> Your kind is deporting people. >> So, that being said, >> WHAT'S MY KIND? >> SHUT UP. LET ME TALK. >> I'M ASKING. >> LET ME TALK. >> BUT YOU PAUSED. I SAID, "LET ME TALK." >> OKAY, go ahead. >> Go ahead and talk >> you pink. >> Uhhuh. >> Because the Trump pink red are deporting people >> again. I'm not talking to you. And you know, quite frankly, I'm not talking to you. THAT'S WHY YOU'RE SMILING AND LAUGHING. >> I'm not talking to you. >> Right. You're just being prejudic. SO, ARE YOU ARE YOU GOING TO TELL ME YOUR NAME OR NOT? >> All right, we'll do that. >> I'm not talking to you now. Say that to me. >> Racist >> and I am cuz I don't like white people because y'all racist. >> That's unfortunate. >> Racist frankly, it's really nothing against you. >> But my granny my granny was picking cotton in Mississippi and Arkansas. So, she racist. So she raised me. So therefore I DON'T LIKE WHITE PEOPLE. >> HELLO. >> You and your people. >> You and your grand. >> Oh, her last name. Hold up. >> S P A N. >> So therefore, you don't need to figure out the >> Officers have tried reasoning with the suspect, but it's clear she's not ready to hear it. With that, the next step is clear. She's being taken in for booking. >> Yeah. All right. >> She's brown just like me. So you LET HER IN THE DOOR LIKE I WAS GOING TO BE MAD at her. >> You pink. You see how you turn red? >> All right, man. >> I can't. >> Right. >> I'm going to take it off. All right. >> I'm not you brown just like me. >> Hold on. >> You and I know. >> Pronounce it however you want. me. No. Tell him how you say your name. >> I don't care. >> Put your hands up. Do you have anything that [ __ ] mirror me? >> NO. SO Y'ALL Y'ALL YOU tain me with stupid. >> No, you were stealing. >> I didn't steal. That's what I'm saying. >> All right, let her do let her do her thing and then we go. Sorry, girl. >> In the end, the woman was charged with felony retail theft and was later released pending a court appearance. Number three, Sephora shoplifterss thought excuses would work until the security footage was played. On July 19th, 2025, officers were dispatched to a Sephora store after staff reported two women seen grabbing merchandise, concealing it, and heading for the exit without paying. By the time officers arrive, the suspects are still inside, and they're quickly detained for questioning. Right now, let's go over here to the corner because I got to talk to all you guys about whatever support stuff. Okay. >> Okay. >> So, go over here, take a seat. >> Go over here. Take a seat. >> Yeah. Or just lean against the wall. Do you guys got IDs on you? >> No. No, I have my ID. >> All right. How old are you guys? >> How old are you guys? >> I'm 19. >> 19. You guys are all above 18. >> Yeah. >> All right. You don't have anything with your name on it? >> No. >> Like credit card, you know, stuff like that. >> Yeah. Put your hands behind your back. >> Okay. >> So, >> you said she's >> fine. >> Take this off. Put your hands behind your back. >> What is going on? Right now, you guys are being detained for the shoplifting investigation. So, >> did you write it? >> So, her her too? >> Yeah. >> All right. Here. Here. I'm going to put your phone I'm going to put your phone in bag down so I don't drop your phone. Okay. >> Okay. [Music] So, you guys sure you don't have any ID on you? It'll just make it easier to find you. >> I don't have it. >> No. Okay. >> I didn't bring my >> The suspects are secured, but the investigation continues. The officer now speaks with a witness who first spotted the two suspects. How's it going, man? What's >> going on, man? >> Not much. What do you got for me? >> Yeah. >> Um, basically, they walked in. I was on the sales floor, so I noticed right away with the girl with the shades and the hat plus the bag. >> Um, she I looked at her. She didn't smile at me or anything. She just >> Was she involved at all or No, >> the >> the one that's standing right there. >> No, she wasn't involved. >> She was just doing makeup thing. Honestly, I think she was just a distraction. But >> I watched these two and they separated and they went by skin care selected our skinincare products. I watched them put it inside the bag from the CCTV. So I got clear footage of them concealing it. She placed an item inside her jacket and then she put it inside her bag and took out the item in her jacket. They walked out. That's when I called you guys. Okay. >> And I followed them down there and I guess they saw me following them. So we turned back and he came this way. >> Okay. Um, we're going to walk over to your office and just look through the the stuff. Okay. >> They usually park in the back by name and mark. >> They do. >> Yeah. Because she asked me where the exit was. The one with the cap and they go they you know they work in a team and the escape vehicles got to be in the back. >> Oh, so they have a vehicle in the back. >> No, no doubt. That's how they come or they go they come to the track which is not for employees. >> Oh, the defenders I'm guessing. >> I got you. I'll walk over there with you. Just give me one second. She said he says fine. Yeah. >> All right. You're good to get out of here. >> Um I can't just get out of here. >> Well, you're going to leave. >> Thank you. >> Thank you. >> Um >> I'm going to go with him real quick. Do you mind to sit with them? I read both I read her. Did you read her? I did. Perfect. All right. >> Ask her anything or >> uh just hold off right now. Yeah. Um >> officers head inside to review the surveillance footage and what they see leaves little room for doubt. The women are clearly working together. concealing merchandise and making their way toward the exit. Now it's time to confront them and see who's ready to own up. Um, >> how do you pronounce your first name again? >> Okay, so again, my name is Officer Tim. All right, with the phone police department again, you're detained right now. All right, for my investigation. Okay, so I'm going to afford you the opportunity right now. >> I can hear you. >> And I'm going to afford you the opportunity right now to be honest with me and tell me what's going on today. What happened what happened in the Sephora? Why am I here? Why I'm here? >> Why am I here? And why are you in cuts right now? >> I'm going to let you think. I have cameras on every single angle. >> I can see me take something. >> Okay. So, did you take something? >> Did I take something? >> Yes. >> I was looking and stuff like that and I was trying on stuff. >> Okay. [Music] again, right? I'm trying my best to work with you, right? Because it goes a long way if you're honest with me in the front end of my investigation. It goes a long way, right? I already watched all the camera footage. I know exactly what happened. It's seeing if you're going to be willing to work with me and talk to me and tell me what happened. >> But you mean you I'm already like in this predicament. >> Okay, so here's the thing again. If you don't want to talk and you want to tell them what happened, that's fine, right? You're saying, "Hey, he told you that he saw you take something and you're not admitting to it right now. Um, you're still detained. If you're not asking if you're not going to answer any more of my questions, that's fine. Um, just just hang tight." Right. >> So, you didn't you didn't purchase anything at the store? >> No. >> Okay. >> So, why are they saying that you took stuff from the store? >> Why are you Why are they saying that you took stuff from the store? I don't know. I have a bunch of makeup stuff in my bag because I don't like my makeup, but all my makeup stuff is in my bag. >> So, all your makeup stuff's in there. >> Like what I brought from my none of the stuff from their store is in your bag. >> Even after being watched the entire time, one of the suspects still believes she can talk her way out of it, ignoring the fact that every move was already being tracked. >> So, like I said, they have video of you being in there. >> Yeah. So, would it make any sense that they're watching you while you're putting stuff into your bag? >> Would it make any sense? >> You're saying you didn't think anything, but they're they're watching you on the camera while you're sticking stuff in your bag. Is that accurate statement? >> Yes. >> Yes. So, what what in that bag belongs to Sephora? >> Uh, I just got Ordinary from there. >> You got Ordinary? >> Yeah. >> Is that the skin care or the makeup? No, for the skinare. Skin care. That's all I know. >> Okay. What What kind of skin care? Is it like oil face wash? >> It's It's for your face. I think it's just like acne. >> Acne stuff. Okay. Now, when you got that, who selected it? You or her? Did you take it off the shelf? Yes or >> when I got the ordinary? >> I You took it off the shelf. Where did you put it? >> It's in my bag. >> No. No. I know. But did you stick it in your bag? didn't walk around with it or >> No, I didn't walk around with it. >> Okay. So, you just stuck it straight in your bag. >> Okay. Do you have money to pay for any of it? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Did you try to pay for it before you left? >> No. >> Okay. So, you went in there with the intent to take something without paying, right? >> No, not >> Okay. So, at some point you came to the conclusion, I'm going to take this without paying. Is that accurate? >> Okay, I got you. >> We're good. >> Yeah. Um, Officer [ __ ] is going to go through I said Officer [ __ ] right? This is the officer that's standing here with you. She's going to go through your bag, right? And take out the items that you took. All right. Uh, is this your bag right here? >> Okay. And this is your phone on top of it, correct? >> I didn't know where my phone went. >> No. Yeah. No, I had your phone. Yep. >> Yep. If you don't mind us going through it. >> Um, >> is there anything else or just >> I got to go see because apparently there was a bunch of stuff. >> She's saying this like the ordinary. Was it just one bottle or two? >> It was two. >> Two. >> The truth is finally out. Officers search the bags and inside every stolen item is accounted for. At this point, there's no talking their way out. >> Do you want to have them come over here through it? There's a bunch of stuff. >> I'll just I'll walk it over there with him so it's easier to sort of play it back and forth. But I know for sure you're saying that it's these two, correct? Okay. All right. Um, since I like I said, you're still detained right now as are you. I'll be right back. All right. Thank you guys. Appreciate it, man. >> I bag. >> Um, I'm going to grab that as well. >> Go ahead and go. >> Okay. >> But don't take my whole bag. >> Well, I'm taking your whole bag, but right now again, you're detained. Okay. >> So, you're you're telling me before that you didn't take anything, but there's going to be >> say I didn't take anything. I just said he he told you that I said something. >> Okay. I'm asking you straight up, right? Because regardless, you're taking a ride with me today. You're go I said Regardless, you're taking a ride with me. You're going to jail today. >> I can't hear you. >> You're going to jail. >> You're under arrest, right? So, this is simple. I want to go through your bag and make sure, hey, what exactly you took is going to go back to them. If you're saying there's other stuff in here that belongs to you that you paid for, you need to let me know. >> You can you can um I just got to see what you're taking out, though. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> What? >> Go ahead. >> You took this? >> Yes. >> Is this from Sephora? Yes. >> Okay. The stuff you did not pay for it, correct? >> Right. >> Okay. [Applause] >> Yes. >> That's it. The three items. >> No, this. >> Okay. >> All right. You need to search this one. Yeah, I'm going to bring this one over there because there might be more in here. >> Okay. >> Are you good if I switch out with someone and then O'Neal's here for the church? >> Yeah. No, 100%. Yeah. Thank you. Yep. Right back. >> It's not over until the paperwork's done. Officers work with a store staff to inventory each stolen product, double-checking that all of it belongs to Sephora before heading to booking. Okay. >> All right. >> Okay. >> My needs are ringing. >> Okay. >> So, we got a bunch of items. I just want to make sure >> it's ours. >> Yeah, it's yours. >> So, these four items in here, >> this is what the girl in the blue dress, the like the tight blue dress, Yeah. said that she took those four items. >> So far, the woman in the pink hat with sunglasses said she just took these two ordinaries. Um, she's got a bunch of different makeup in here. It all looks older, >> right? Do you see anything in there that is from your store? I didn't see anything cuz it all looks used. >> Got it. Yeah, she took these out of the out of the box. >> Out of the boxes. Okay. Okay. Everything else again looks like it's all old and it's hers. >> Oh, that one. >> This one? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Not opened. >> Okay. That's the first >> That's the first one. Okay. I don't have any available to you right now. >> Okay, perfect. >> She's out there, but she's leaving in 30 minutes. I just want to get another officer out there. That's all. It's all good. >> Almost done, man. >> I appreciate it. >> Okay, perfect. Okay. Um, he's going to walk over real quick and take pictures of them and then we can search. 15. All right. So, listen. You're going to be placed under arrest right now for retail theft. Okay. >> What's that? >> You'll be placed under arrest for retail theft. Okay? You understand? >> Yes. Taking items out of a store, right? Acting in concert with your friend. Take all these items out. So, you're being placed under arrest. Okay. Officer [ __ ] is going to search you real quick and then we're going to bring you to the police department to finish paperwork. All right. >> All right. Stand up. >> Which one's yours? So we can take >> this one. Are you going >> but T- Money T Money Park over there? I'm over here. >> All right, I'm walk this way. >> The encounter ends with both suspects being charged with retail theft. Number two, entitled woman thought yelling would make the charges go away, but it only made things worse. It's April 20th, 2025 when officers are called to a meer for a shoplifting incident in progress. Staff say a woman was pulling tags off items before making her way out without paying. Here's how it plays out once police arrived. >> It's not from here. >> I'm sorry. >> The bag took the bag over. >> That's it. >> Yeah. >> Okay. got work bags and she really needs to press charges over this. >> I don't know. I just got here. You saw when I walked in, right? >> Because I walk out with a car. How many of you did they send over here? >> Um, I don't know. Maybe two >> for this. >> Uh, yeah. It's a crime. >> Now, I had a blanket in the bag that was already mine. Do they need to have that? >> Ma'am, I don't know. We'll figure it out. And do you have another item? >> If so, >> I have a blanket in my car. >> Was it from here? >> I thought that was the one we were trying to match. I'll pay for it again if it's not >> Was it? >> Cuz I had one in my car. >> Okay. Was there another one that you pull a tag? >> I didn't pull any tags off anything. >> Okay. All right. >> But I can I'll pay for it again. I don't want to have to have charges. I will pay for it again. Gladly. >> We're past that already. So, they're pursuing charges. It's beyond >> for under $100. >> Doesn't matter. It's their call. >> Please. >> What's your phone number? >> Are you printing the training receipt? >> Please. >> He says she don't have Do you have it or not? >> I have a blanket in my car. Yes. >> Was it from here? Can you cut? Was it from here or not? Cuz I'm starting to lose my patience. >> I was Yes. >> Yes, it was. Okay. Let's go get it. >> So, is this the one that you took from there? >> I find it. Yeah. >> Okay. All right. Just bring it back in with you. She says she don't want that. So, it's their call. >> Well, unfortunately, it's it's their call. So, >> apparently you all already had a >> y'all don't like each other. So, >> I've never been I like I'm not even from the area. I did a stupid thing, but I'm not >> I get it, but it's their call. We don't have a choice in it. She's under the impression that the amount stolen somehow lessens the crime. But the law doesn't see it that way. And neither do the officers on scene. >> As much as you don't want to deal with it, we don't want to deal with it either. It's Sunday. >> If I didn't want to deal with it, I should have done. >> Yeah. Go ahead. >> How many people do they need? >> Is there going to be a transport or no? >> You're going to arrest me? >> Uh, possibly. >> What? >> That's what happens when a crime is committed. Like, are you do you not know? [Music] >> No, you can. This is under $100. I had a really stupid I won't come back to your store. Please. This is within your ability. It's under. >> He got his notary stuff. Do you want transport or you want it to? >> Can I just pay for this? I won't come back. >> I'll do the booking sheet and I'll do the photos >> and send it in to him. >> All right, ma'am. It's not happening. Set that down, please. And we got to take care of some other stuff. >> We don't have all day to deal with this. >> Um, can you stand over here for me? Ma'am. Ma'am, can you stand here for me? And just look straight ahead, please. Uh, you got to remove your glass off top of your head. >> Good grief. >> Great idea. >> Okay. And then can you turn and face that way? >> And then the other side, please. >> Okay. You can go ahead and have a seat. >> No, you're being trespassed. You can't come back to if you come back. What what happens is they have cameras. So whether they stop you at that time or if they are able to provide proof to us that you were here after being trespassed, then it's it's it's grounds for another arrest. >> Okay. >> I didn't pull the tag off of that. >> She's not being arrested and instead is just being released with an NTA. That's not a courtesy everyone gets. But instead of being relieved, she continues to act like the store should have just looked the other way. I will surround for another one. >> So, what's going to happen is this. Um, you're going to be spared the embarrassment of having to be taken out of here in handcuffs. So, you're going to be given an NTA. All right. It's a notice to appear >> and that's >> you're going to press charges on top of the trespassing. >> Absolutely. Like I said, this could be much worse than we can call for transportation van and we can lock you out of here in handcuffs and then you have to go. Listen to me. Stop. >> Stop. >> All right. I'm sorry. I'm doing you the favor of not having to take you all the way to the police department. >> All right. >> So, what's going to happen is you're going to be given paperwork. It's going to have your court date on there. You have to go to court that date. >> All right. >> Yeah. >> If you don't go to court that day, then there's going to be another warrant put out for your arrest. >> All right. >> That's it. >> It's completely up to them. They're pursuing charges. Said and done. Nothing's going to change it. All right. >> It is up to them. >> Exactly. How much was the total? Can I pay for it? >> No. >> Can I know what the total was? >> As soon as we find out how much this blanket is. All right, let's go outside. We got to give you one uh piece of uh paperwork that's going to have your court date on it and then you guys got to leave. Okay. >> Where you at? >> I'm right behind >> right here. Just let's walk over here, guys. And uh it ended up, dude, it ended up being a felony, but of course it didn't get approved. It just it's a mess. >> Stand under here so you don't get wet. >> With a warning issued, the officer calmly informs her that she's officially trespassed and outlines what she can expect moving forward. So, essentially, I mean, um I think it's pretty self-explanatory. Just make sure you guys don't come back here. Um and then I'm going to give you the paperwork. It's going to have your court date on it. Uh it's going to be the 22nd of May at 9:00 at the at the uh DuPage County Courthouse. If you um you know, like you said, mentioned something earlier about possibly paying a fine or something along those lines. I don't know how that works. She'd have to talk to somebody at the courthouse first >> to see uh see if they if they if they'd allow that. Um have you ever been arrested before for this? >> Okay. >> I don't even have a >> All right. Well, I mean, if that's the case, they may be able to work something out. Um you may just have to pay a fine. Um or I know that they can arrange something like that once you go to court. So, if you're like a first- time offender and you don't want it on your record, um they do arrange for >> of the what? >> Yeah, we we've got a copy of it. >> So, um yeah, that's pretty much it. It was either that or a lot of times typically in these situations we uh we go ahead and just um you know we'd have to call a trans transportation ban out here. You'd get arrested um well you are arrested technically but we'd put handcuffs on you. You'd have to walk out of the store like that search you. You'd have to go to the police department and all that nonsense. So um just take it as a lesson learned. Yeah. [Applause] >> Well, I mean, it's not like you shot somebody, but I would hope that you learn from it. So, >> the suspect didn't leave in handcuffs, but she did leave with a citation for misdemeanor shoplifting and a court date to answer for. Think they'll be making better choices next time? Let me know in the comments and I'll see you in the next
