Okay. >> Do I go to jail? >> Yes. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to talk to a lawyer and have him present with you while you cannot afford to hire a lawyer. One will be appointed to represent you before any question if you wish. Okay. >> Watch out for your head. >> All right. >> At the end of the night, the suspect was charged with retail theft. Number three, she thought her scam worked, but the police had other plans at the exit. On February 2nd, 2025, police headed to a Hibbert store following reports of a woman allegedly stealing merchandise. Upon arrival, the officers waited in the parking lot, waiting for the perfect time to confront the clueless suspect. >> How are you? >> Good. How are you? >> Fine. You coming from Mar uh hit sports? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Did you happen to steal anything while you're in Hibisports? >> No. >> I mean, I search your stuff. Make sure that you didn't take anything from Hibisports. >> I mean, I didn't steal anything, so I don't know why you have to search >> to see if that's accurate or not. I They're They're advising that you had taken some items. >> If it's If it's nothing major, then it's not that big a deal. But especially in today's climate. >> Yeah. But >> the officers urged the suspect to cooperate with the inspection of her vehicle for the alleged lost items. As the suspect reluctantly agrees to the officer's request, the investigation officially begins. >> Where where did you get them from whenever you initially got >> and I don't steal. So if I need to get in trouble, I need to get in trouble. I don't steal. Never have I stolen. >> Okay. But this is the this may very well be the thing that they're questioning. >> Okay. So >> give my keys. Give me my ID. Have >> you been arrested here before? >> No, I've never stolen. >> Have you been arrested in literal before? >> No. >> Sure. >> Yes. Can't find it. >> No, >> it's not in your purse. >> No. The clock's ticking and the suspect still hasn't found her ID or the receipt. If she comes up empty, it's only going to raise more red flags. >> Did she give a 27 response with that 28? >> Did a 27 have to come with that registration? What's your middle initial? >> 104. Okay. Are you still looking for your ID or are you done? >> Yeah, I know. I have my ID now. That's fine. Don't worry about it. Let's walk over here by our squads. >> Yeah. Heat up here. You set your first air on the hood. You don't have anything on you. I need nobody weapons, nothing like that. No needles, no open razor blades. Okay. >> Put your keys in there. >> I'm just going to patch you down real quick. Make sure you don't have anything. The officers now take the suspect back to their cruiser after she fails to provide identification. Moments later, one officer returns to the store and discovers something that blows the case wide open. >> Okay, do me a favor. I'm going to have you have a seat in here. >> Maybe Hi there. you're looking for. >> Okay. >> Pants on her. >> What's that? >> Does she have the pants on her? >> What pants? >> They're these. >> She lost the tag and the size large in their here. That's what she should have had. >> I don't know if she got something else. >> That's what she has. >> If it high resets then she says she bought them another time. >> She did not. I watched it come in her bag. >> We've got her. I think the officer Yeah. Officer Lamb is handling this. He probably wants to talk to you. >> I'm going to take this out there with me. With the item verified as stolen, the officers go over the next steps. And by the time the discussion ends, it's not looking good for her. >> Did they say what she said? >> She said she left the uh hanger in the price tag and she walked me over to pant track and that's what she's got. The standard high-rise. >> Okay. >> 70 bucks. >> Okay. Are they want to give us charges for retail product or what? >> Okay. It's a new one. >> Did she was on I think she was on her way back here. Had she made it out to her car yet? >> I didn't see her with the car. I went out there to vape and she was walking down that way. >> Okay. And >> that's when you guys grabbed there. She I watched her. She flew over here, hunched down, shopped with the horse, zipped it up, put the hanger there. I found the tag there and she walked around and then I went back to call and she walked out. >> Okay. Hello. Best charges. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> With one more officer joining in. They compare notes with store staff and what they learn seals the suspect's fate. >> Management wants to pursue charges. >> They do. Yes. >> Okay. Standard highrise fit. That's what that >> says as well. They're >> hanging right over there. >> Okay. >> Nike. >> Uh, yes. >> Okay. Well, um, >> grab a picture of it. Yeah. >> Did you see all the other stuff in her car? >> There's a lot of stuff in there. >> Yeah. kind of new new looking stuff. >> She didn't want that door open for very long. >> She was over there by the raft, squatted down, stopped in the purse, started walking around. Okay. Yep. 70 bucks. I guess if they can give me a receipt, that'd be great. >> Do you Are you guys wanting this back? >> Yeah. >> Okay. She advises that she had that stuff with her when she came in. Thanks. The officer delivers the final update and with nothing left to say, they move forward with taking her into custody. Okay. So, at this time you're under arrest for retail theft. Okay. You get your hands, put them out in front of you there. I'm going to cuff you up front just to make your life a little bit easier. Okay. >> Yeah. Turn rest up. Thank you. I'm going to double lock those so they don't clamp down on me by accident. I didn't miss anything on your person or anything, right? >> No. >> Okay. So, just so you're aware, they uh watched you put that in your purse. So, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court or other proceedings. You have the right to an attorney. You have the right to have one present with you before any questioning if you wish. You understand that? >> Yep. >> Anything you say can and will be used against you in court or other proceedings. Do you understand that? >> Yeah. >> You have the right to an attorney. You have the right to have an attorney with you before any question if you wish. If you cannot afford an attorney, want to be appointed to you free of any cost before it if you wish. Do you understand? >> Okay. Before closing out the case, the officers grab one final piece of evidence. Is that what she said? >> Not really. I just told her they they watched you put it in your purse, so you had to rest and she didn't really say anything. >> Are you going to do anything about her suspension? >> I mean, I didn't see her driving. I wouldn't even know that car was there. >> Thank you much. Yeah, it's going to be seven. That's the 70. Will you put that in the box? >> Yep. >> Okay, I'll have that done so you you can open open up your case and print it out. >> Go ahead. Are you female and male? Do you identify as female or male? >> I'll search you myself if you don't want to tell us. >> After a shaky start, the officers managed to put the suspect in handcuffs. However, it seems that the suspect is not over the idea of making things difficult for the officers. >> Hey, listen to me. I got here late, okay? It's over. You're in custody. That's not changing. >> Make this easier for us and we'll make it easier for you. Understand that. >> Now, I'm going to ask you again. What is your name? >> Not about your name. You don't. >> You have the right to not selfinccriminate. It has nothing to do with your name. Am I heading over there? >> What is What do you need? >> Take your own photos, >> I guess. Which we do. If you're stealing stuff and you do anything that we tell you not to do, that's resisting. Okay. >> Um the groceries that you got, you pay it with Apple Pay. So, they can't refund it back because it's Apple Pay. So, do you want him to go out and get the groceries, too? >> Are you good with getting that? Okay. So, I want to get for the groceries she had.
