You'd think holding down a job would keep people out of trouble, but for these employees, it was just where the trouble started. Here are five cases when dumb people get arrested at their jobs. Number five, bus drivers dangerous choice leads to police involvement. On December 14th, 2022, officers in Gurnie, Illinois responded to a crash involving a school bus that had struck a mailbox. Thankfully, the impact was minor and no children on board were hurt. Here's how the officers handled the situation. >> So, I I turned the corner and I guess it just kept turning and turned right into a mailbox. >> Take it too fast or >> No, I just I've just been tired half of the day and >> tired half the day and I haven't been drinking. No, no, no, no. >> Tired. So, what do you mean by you've been tired after day? >> We're studying today. >> Just sleepy and >> pick up his kiddos. >> Trying to >> I'm going to >> So, do you take any prescription medication? you were occasionally. >> So, those are both just for blood pressure. >> Yeah. >> And you didn't have anything to do today? Cuz I mean, it's just kind of weird. >> You're super tired. >> Yeah. I turn I turned um right onto >> Cascade and then right on Sierra. Okay, >> I guess we're going to call your mom and let them know what happened. Okay, I hit the mailbox. Okay, >> you got your ID on you? >> Yes, sir. Once the driver's ID is confirmed, the officer asks a deeper question. What did he do before showing up to work? It's clear they suspect there's more to this crash than just bad luck. >> What did you do this before work? >> I'm sorry. What did you do before work? >> Before >> today? Like this morning? Yeah, this afternoon. What did you do? >> How are you guys? Um, I went I went back home. I paid my bill for the next two days and >> Okay. >> Red for a little bit. >> Do you have diabetes at all? >> No. >> Well, at least not that. >> Okay. Just super tired. Okay. Um, what's a good You take you took a right on the Cascade and then a right on the Sierra and just too sharp of a turn and >> I guess so. I I kind of blanked out for a second and woke up and I saw you blanked out for a second. What do you mean by going down for a second? >> Like like I said, >> it's been about 10 years. You still go down like around. >> We're going to put you on that right there. That's >> correct. >> I saw the >> mailbox in front of me and >> tried to tried to throw me another possible 1050 touch. >> Okay. So that just freaks me out a little bit that you said you blacked out a little. >> 135. Can you start for 776? >> Is there anything? >> Can I see your eyes real quick, man? >> Sure. >> Okay. and you haven't had anything to drink. >> The driver denies being under the influence, but the officer isn't buying it. Not with the signs he's seen. >> It's just the blacking out and being super tired and you not remembering what happened. That kind of just that's not normal, you know? Does that normally happen to you? No, I I remember what happened. It's just the lack of outluster happening. >> Give me Give me a second. Okay. Obviously, there's going to be, you know, >> Thank you. >> I'm just a little alarmed by saying you're tired. You might have backed out or something like that. Um, so I I have a partner coming out and we might run some tests real quick just to make sure you're all good to drive. >> Okay. >> Um, >> yeah. No, I I understand being a school bus driver. >> Okay. something. >> We know. >> Yeah. So, I I want to make sure you're not impaired or anything like that. Um, and like you said, you you haven't drank anything at all. Like, just be honest with me, >> right? No. No. I I >> Did you smoke anything? >> Uh, just just vape regular nicotine. >> Just nicotine. No, anything like that? >> No. No. I wish I could, but >> Okay. So, nothing today that would impair your driving. When's the last time you ate? >> Um, I had I had lunch around I had um some rice about 11:00 and I brushed my teeth through some drain. >> Okay. And like is this the first time you've ever like blacked out at the wheel? >> Well, I'd like to say yes, but unfortunately no. >> No. Okay. Well, so so um I'm not saying you're impaired right now. That's not what I'm saying. But um I'm going to have a partner come out. We're going to we're just going to do some if you want some tests. >> 137. >> You do fine on them. Let you go. >> Um so just let me just hang out for me. Okay. >> Um and then we'll go from there. All right, man. >> As backup arrives, the officer wastes no time in getting the driver out of the bus and onto the sidewalk for further testing. >> All right, man. Do you want to step out for me? Talk outside. >> All right. There's fire from high 109. You're asking if we need photos being school bus. >> Yeah, I was curious. I don't think we do. I wasn't sure. >> So, I know I asked this already, but nothing to drink at all. Correct. >> Last night? Yes. This today? >> What What did you have to drink last night? >> Um Mike's lemonade. >> Okay. How many? >> Um two. >> Two. What time? >> Um well, I got off here at around 4:30. So between 5 and 8. >> That was last night. >> Yeah. >> Okay. And then nothing today. No illegal. No alcohol. just nicotine vape. >> And you don't you don't have any like diabetes or any medical conditions that would cause you to black out while driving? >> Diabetes. I don't know about I I can't afford to. >> Okay. >> Get that. >> But how about how about you said you take two different medications. One's for blood pressure. What's the other one for? similar, >> but I haven't done them. I haven't taken those in a while, even though I should. >> And they for those uh affect your driving at all if you don't take them. >> No. >> No. Okay. Um Okay. So, why don't you hang out? I'm going to talk to my partner real quick and we'll go from there. Okay. So, what's uh The investigation kicks off with a quick rundown of the procedure followed by the initial nestagmas test to check the man's eye movements. Turn your body this way. There you go. All right. You stand with your feet together, arms down by your sides, just like this. Do me a favor to take off your glasses. >> Can you see without them pretty good? Uh, it's blurry, but I can make kind of make you out >> here. You want me to put them? I'll put them in the bus. >> I got ambos in here. There's no >> I can barely see your finger, but I can see. >> Okay. Yep. Just keep your head still and just follow your eyes with the tip of my finger. Okay. >> Mhm. Same thing. It's still following. The results of the first test suggests something's off and the officer now moves to the next challenge, a simple heel to toe walk. >> So you start to take nine heel toe steps on turn. Take nine steps without demonstr. Yep. You're going to do nine. I just demonstrated three. When you turn, you could leave foot on the line and turn by taking a series of small steps on the foot. It's going to look like this. Take serious small steps with your feet with aligned. Okay. While you are walking, keep your arms at your sides. Watch your feet at all times. Count your steps up. Once you start walking, don't stop until you complete the test. You understand the test. 1 2 3 4 1 5 6 7 9 2 4 5 6 7 8. >> It's time for the next part of the field sobriety test, the one leg stand. >> Next test going to have you stand with your feet together, arms down by your side, just like this. Do not start the test until I tell you something. You understand? I tell you to start with either legally 6 in off the ground, keeping the foot parallel to the ground. Keep both legs straight, your arms at your side. While holding that position, count out loud in the following manner. 120 on 100200 so on until I tell you to stop this 10023 so on until I tell you to stop you understand two three four 5 1,00 6 100 7 Look down. I'm sorry. Look down at your book. No, I'm sorry. One 100 1,00 2 100 3 100 4 100 5 100 6 100 700 8 1 9 100 11 100 12 100 13 100 1400 1500 1600 17 Okay, 18. The officers ask again if he's had anything to drink. And once more, the suspect insists he hasn't touched alcohol since waking up. >> I don't nothing today. Last night? Yes. Last night? Yes. So, what time was last night? Uh between 4:30 and 8:00 p.m. I had two uh tall boy um like smartphone. And did you take any medication? >> Well, I'm supposed to take some and you cannot have anything to drink before driving. So, uh, what time do you end up driving? Uh my first trip is 6:02 in the morning and I end about if if I don't get a good crowd I I end about 8 in the morning and I started there approximately until about 4:00 and you know you can't the legal limit for driving under for a school bus is not 008. It's actually lower than that. Correct. It's 004. Yes. So you didn't have anything to turn. Correct. >> So can you explain to me how this I said I I wake up at 4:00 every morning. Um, I think it was 6:02 a.m. I'm tired. I tried to take a nap out the day. >> He maintains that his last drink was the night before, but the way he's acting tells officers otherwise, and now they have even more serious concerns about his role around children. I don't know. >> Based on your observations, >> based on my observations, it it does appear that you have had something to drink. Um, and again, honesty goes a long way. So, uh, what I've seen, what I've observed, I don't think it's safe for you to drive, sir. So, I'm going to have you put your hands behind your back. You're going to be under arrest for driving under the influence. Okay. Lean forward a little bit. >> Did you pull your pants? I'm sorry. You pull your pants. I don't >> 141. I got >> one. >> Hard on your shoulders at all. 161. Are the kids still there? >> Negative. They uh were taken by another bus. Just want to make sure. I can give you a call once we figure all this out. >> Maybe 148. agent on that. Kenny, >> you got a list, right? >> I have a list. I will call you. I'm searching for something right now. >> Take that. >> Thank you. >> Thank you. I'll get back to you. >> Yeah. >> FY. She's here. >> Uh, she's here. >> I can go talk. I'll go talk to her. >> Okay. >> Cuz I mean, it's going to need a tone no matter what. >> We'll pick it up. him. Let me go talk to her real quick. >> You got everything? That's it. Just change. >> After putting all the evidence together, officers have no choice but to charge the man with DUI. Number four, Walmart worker busted for stealing $800 in merchandise. On October 11th, 2024, officers were dispatched to a Walmart following reports of a cashier caught stealing items while on the clock. Here is the investigation that followed. >> Anything you say can be and may be used as evidence against you in court. You talk with a lawyer before questioning. and to have a lawyer with you while you're being questioned. >> If you want a lawyer before or during questioning but cannot afford to hire a lawyer, >> one will be appointed to represent you at no cost before any question. Knowing your rights, what do you mean? Willing to answer my questions? >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> The suspect struggles with English, but one of her co-workers steps in to help translate, giving officers a way to question her directly. With that handled, the officer doesn't waste time confronting her with the evidence they've seen. So, I've seen video up as early as August 7th of her taking items. Okay. Can she kind of explain what's been going on over the last 3 months? She's asking if she could see those videos cuz she do not remember doing that. If she can't see those videos, >> I don't think that they'll be willing to pull it up here, but the loss prevention people are sending the videos to me. >> Mhm. And so if she wishes to see the videos, they're going to be added into evidence >> and she can go to the police department and do what's called a foyer request. F O I A. >> Mhm. >> For the videos. Okay. Yeah. >> Oh, she's asking if she's being arrested. >> Well, let's not jump the gun here. We We still need to have a conversation about about what's been going on. So, can you ask her if if she had money to pay for the items and just didn't pay for them or she didn't have any money to pay for it and just left for the store? Despite the video showing her under scanning, the woman sticks to her denial. The officers, however, aren't buying it. >> Okay. >> She says she really don't believe all the same about her, you know, stealing cuz she do not remember stealing anything. That's why she's requesting a video. And she also saying that um they've taught her to accept if she want to be um to ask for an apology >> so she could forget forget about it. That's why she accepted but needed than that. But other than that, she would not accept that she didn't say anything. >> So it appears that she either when she used her Walmart employee card >> Mhm. that she either rang up items not for the correct price >> or just straight up did not pay for the items. Okay. No. Mhm. one of Okay. She said that that might have happened by mistake, but she never meant anything like she never meant to say anything like that might have happened by mistake. like she just forget to scan anything down. Something like that and then went to the back. >> Okay. But she doesn't remember ever deliberately doing it multiple times. >> The woman claims it might have been a misunderstanding. But when it happens more than once, officers know it's not that simple. That might have happened but her doing that but on purpose that like she never done anything by purpose but that might have happened cuz they now lie as if they're taking her here and telling her about all the thing that have happened. >> What was the last part of that that you said? Uh >> the last part the last part she said uh they they're not liars by taking her here and telling her about everything that happened. So yeah, >> but Walmart's not liars. Oh, they're not liars. They're not liars. Cuz she she she said that might have happened. >> Like she never made that to happen. Like she never done it on purpose. Like she never done on purpose. That might have happened. That might have happened that she miscan something like multiple times, but like she never made that to to happen. So in the uh interview process when we got into more specifics things like produce or putting in the wrong quantities, like there's very sure like seven of them there and she put in two. She admits to doing those uh on purpose uh to be able to go do that. Uh but everything else she's just claiming she doesn't remember remember. Uh so she makes a lot of statement just like kind of an apology thing but nothing big. But uh she did admit to purposely doing those but it's just it's so much stuff that I can't take it like once or twice and you know what I mean? But it's a substantial dollar amount. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> What's her job here? >> Cashier. >> She's trained to work register. >> Yeah. Okay. Okay. Um, is there anything else she'd like to to add or anything like that to her statement? >> Um, Um, she say she's sorry if I cannot forgive her. >> At this point, she stops denying and starts bargaining, offering to return the money if it means avoiding trouble. >> Okay. Um, so it's I mean it's not us that you know, we just get called here by the business, right? So yeah, it's not need to apologize to us. It's not. Um, we'll at least 95 and then work on either stay in state if we need to. Yeah. >> Next question. >> Why did you put in less products? Like when you had seven of one thing and you put in two, why did you do that? She said that one was a mistake. She She really meant to press seven, but by mistake she pressed two and then she was like, "Yeah, I'll just let it go." And then it went up. Seven isn't next to two though on the numbers. So >> there's also multiple instances of that specific thing with like the produce and misquantity thing like the like there's a lot of different produce uh when it comes to like peppers or whatever it is. uh on that she's consistently doing the quantities uh not >> but the stores already made its decision. Investigators saw consistent patterns of produce not scanned, quantities reduced, items left in the cart, and items skipped entirely. And with the theft total passing $850, it's no longer a minor issue. >> Did you were you told the dollar amount? Oh yeah. Um, do you want to ask her that question? >> Well, she so she knows the dollar. >> She know. Yeah, she knows. She knows. It was around like you say close to 700800. >> Oh, it's $857 worth of stuff. um now talking about 800. >> So there he was in there when he's doing it doing I think she had some yesterday and a previous transaction. She's just about doing it on every transaction. So there's been no further uh developments since I've been in here. >> Okay. It's almost it's an every transaction thing. Like it's not a one or two. That's the that's the problem where I have a hard time. She's asking did she take anything from her last transaction like yesterday? >> Yeah, >> yesterday she bought like a bunch of clothes and then she's wondering if she >> like the backpacks and stuff. I I'd have toction, but that was one that was reviewed. I don't know for sure. >> Officers press her on why key items were left out during checkout, but once again, she denies intent. >> That's more of a clearance merchandise transaction. I think the clearance the clearance is not the problem. It's the stuff that's just not being scanned. So, like some of the stuff like will sit in the cart and she doesn't even attempt to scan it and it goes in there. Or like the quantity thing, it's just it's several. Yeah. Uh Vickan Okay. She basically saying that she's sorry. She admit doing the one case of the planting. She really remember that one cuz she did that one. But the other one she really don't remember doing that doing those. And she say she feel like she's not really comfortable to really explain what she really meant by everything she's saying. and she just saying she's sorry if there is a way yak could just get the amount of money out of his uh his family or check >> what >> to just um if she can pay for those items she she has taken in the past >> by using her >> her check that's not the same thing we don't they'll never be anything checking over nearly every transaction follows the same pattern. And while she keeps calling them mistakes, the evidence suggests otherwise. >> Okay. He said she's saying that um so what's going to happen? And I go David saw her to accept to just um say she saw me and then I made >> you explain this real quick. So her chance to be able to talk to us and kind of work through those things uh with saying that it the amount she's willing to go into detail is not acceptable with like like she says, "Hey, I did a plantain transaction. It doesn't line up with the >> with what happened." >> Okay. So what we're the reason of that conversation is to try and gauge her level of integrity or honesty. uh with that uh due to the dollar amount and the outcome of that conversation, we have to get police involved so that they can they can do their part of it. So the there was an opportunity to kind of be like, "Hey, is there something going on with your life or are you hungry or are you doing this one?" Because a lot of those items are food. Uh but she's not willing to divulge that kind of information. So police. Mhm. So she's asking if The store's position hasn't changed. The manager reminds her that this outcome is a direct result of her own choices. >> I miss her. >> So, I have nothing to do with that part of it. What I have to do is I present them the evidence, they review it and see the same thing I'm seeing, and then she has to relay what's going on to that. But when those things don't match up, it makes things more difficult. >> Okay? So like again with the gauging of truthfulness and honesty, honesty goes a long way with in reality of what we've seen uh to the evidence. So that that's the problem at least from my point of view. So, at this point, she has to explain to them what's going on because I'm part of this. Okay. Um yeah, she say she she was supposed to pick up her key from the daycare. Uh if she can make a call right now to have someone to go pick her up pick up her kids from the daycare. >> That is absolutely fine. >> Yeah. Fine. The case isn't over just yet. The officers still need to decide how to proceed from here. >> Yeah, my this is I've got a lot of questions about all this, but yeah. Um, if you want, we can help out. You want us to go to the end game? If you want, I'll let them know and then uh >> I'll try to get some more info from you. >> Yep. >> Okay. Do we have any information on her yet? >> I don't know. Yeah. >> So, uh, Walmart's end is we don't tolerate the stealing and stuff. So, she will be terminated today for from Hold on. >> I'll need her work phone discount card. Anything Walmart related I need. >> I'm just going to bring this down. >> Does she have anything in the back? A locker or anything? >> Once again, I mean over. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Thank you. >> Mhm. In the end, the manager tells her she's being terminated on the spot. Her final paycheck and paperwork will be processed. But the bigger issue now is her citation and a firm warning that missing her court date could lead to a warrant. Okay. So, this yellow copy is going to be her copy of the the charge. Okay. So, she's being she is under arrest, but she's being released with a ticket. Can you explain that to her? this album. >> I'm just going to darken um the case number on her copy that way she can read it. >> Um it's going to be 6 22. So this what I'm pointing here is the case number. Okay. >> Um that's today's incident. is for retail theft over $300, which makes it a felony. Okay. So, you are required to appear in court on October 30th, so this month at 2:00, Courtroom K. All your court information is here in this red box. Okay. Can you ask if she can read that or do we need to darken it? >> Um, yeah. You can breathe it. >> She can read it. >> No, she cannot read it. You can breathe. >> We'll press harder next time. >> Okay. So, October 30th at 2:00 p.m. Courtroom K at the courthouse. Okay. Then this is the address for the courthouse. She may have avoided arrest today, but she's walking away with a citation for felony retail theft. Number three, from deliveries to DUI. On April 20th, 2025, officers in Illinois responded to a call about an Amazon truck that was reportedly parked recklessly and had been seen driving erratically just moments before. Here's what happened when they caught up with a driver. >> Let's go here. What's going on? You drinking? I'm trying to go back to the stage. >> How much do you have to drink? 3B. >> Okay. >> You can follow me to the back of the station. Amazon on H Road. >> I can't. >> But you won't have to cuff me up. Yeah. >> Do you have uh your license? >> I got my everything. Let me see your license. Yeah. Don't Don't drink it. >> No. No. No. No. You're going to have to cough me up anyway. >> Yeah. Don't drink it over. Come on. >> You're going to have to cough me up anyway. >> Yeah. Don't drink anymore. Come on. Just put it up. >> You got your cameras on? >> Yeah. >> So, what? >> Just don't drink it no more. >> What you going to do for me? >> Just going to make worse. Why? Why drink it, right? You got anything on you? You shouldn't have any nice anything. You going to leave me in? >> You're going to You going to throw me away? I'm not going to hear that. You're going to throw me away anyway. I'm trying to go home. You >> You're going to go Sensing the driver's emotions running high, the officer stays patient and manages to keep him from escalating. The next challenge, getting him to agree to the sobriety tests without pushing him over the edge. I still got a job to do. I know you don't. I don't know how you got to do. >> Yeah, >> it's the only job. >> You want to do the fields for me? >> We got to do some fields. Make sure you're okay. >> Yeah, >> you do. Let's go over here on this white line right here. >> Stand right here. I know you know how it is. >> I know you know how it is. >> I know. >> I know. You know. >> I rushed to you. >> You don't have to do them. You don't want to do the feels. >> I know I don't. >> You don't want to do them. Come on. Lucas, just give me one minute. Can you stand with him for a minute? Let me get my booklet. I don't know if it's >> With a driver's license in hand, the officer circles back, asking once again if he's willing to take the field sobriety test. >> Can you take the notes? >> Yeah. >> All right. Come over here, man. Come here. Let's do the Cuz you don't have to do them. You want to do them or no? >> I don't got to do them. >> You don't have to do them. You do. You want to do them? >> It's your choice. That's my safety. Yeah, I got to do them. >> You want to do them? Okay, let's do them. >> Out of my safety, I do them. >> Hey, you're the boss. You grown, man. You do whatever you want to do. Right. Just turn your head this way. >> Just leave it right there. I got to look at your eyes. Okay. >> Just follow the tip of my pants. You wear contacts. >> Glasses. No. Okay. >> I got my license right here. >> Okay. No. >> Hey, where my license at? >> I have it. Don't worry about it. Good. You're going to follow the tip of my fence right here with your eyes only. Don't move your hand. Okay. Don't move your head. Use your eyes. Jesus Christ. Time to have guidance. I'll follow you to follow. >> All right, one more. Walk and turn test. All right. You're going to stand right here. Just face me. We're going to use this white line right here. Okay. >> To avoid any misunderstanding, the officer gives a clear demonstration of the field sobriety test before asking him to begin. >> What I'm going to do, you're going to put your right leg in front of your your right one in front of the left one just like this. And keep your arms like this. You understand? Go ahead and do this. Stand in that position. Don't do anything yet. Take nine steps touching heel to toe. Okay. Maybe one, >> two, three, four, >> five. When you get to nine, make a small turn on the line and nine back. You understand? You have any problems with your legs? No. Okay, go ahead and start. >> Yeah, go ahead. Oh, so much nervous 3 six. Still six though, right? >> Yeah. Continue. Go ahead. Come on, man. >> You want to stop? >> Okay. >> Seven. >> Okay. Go ahead. Eight. I don't get no >> Are you done? >> No. >> Okay. >> You want >> Even walking in a straight line proves too much. And at that point, the officer knows he shouldn't be behind the wheel. >> All right, we're not going to do the other one cuz you I don't want you to fall. >> You under arrest for driving under the infl. Okay, you'll be out in a minute. Okay, stop. Stop. Don't get another charge. Come on. >> Don't do that. >> Just give me another one. >> Don't do this because you're going to get another charge. >> Okay, I'll do it. Give me another one. >> Just cooperate. Okay, >> stop moving around. Stop. Stop moving around. Hey, I don't want to have to use force. Okay, you're going to get another charge. So, stop. Stop moving around. Stop. >> You got a tow right coming to truck. Go ahead. >> Hey, what's that? What is that? I don't know. >> Just I need a flat. >> Do it for me. Do it for me. What is that out there? >> What is that up there? >> I have no idea, my man. >> What is that up there? >> I have no idea. >> You know what that is out there? >> That truck. Is it one of the electric trucks? Yeah. >> The officer finishes the search and begins loading him into the cruiser, but the man chooses to make one last scene. >> Let me take that. >> Double stop. Stop fighting, bro. Stop. Oh, that's another charge you just spent on me. >> We told you nicely, man. >> I got some on my face, too. >> We told you nicely. >> I told you the colors. >> No, press it on me. >> It's double. >> Huh? Double >> press it on me. >> Do you need me to follow him? Yeah. Follow the road. >> If you need to adjust, go ahead and do it. Huh? >> If you need to move around, go ahead. >> Flip him. If you need >> I don't know where it is on >> here. I got him. >> Move it to the front. The situation could have ended here, but the man keeps testing the officer's patience. All right, have a seat. Go me out. Go me out of here. >> Watch out. Move it. Move your head. >> Go me out of here. >> Get my last drink. >> Listen, you're going to go home in a few hours. Okay. >> Get my last drink. >> Okay. >> We have no more. >> Get my last drink. I'm I'mma throw it out. I'm throw it out. >> I'm throw it out. I'mma throw it out. I promise my mama great. I'mma throw it out. >> I believe that's it. >> Yeah. I just pull him that way. >> Get my last drink. I'mma throw it out. My mama gra >> When you get released, you will get more to drink. I can't give you nothing to drink no more. That's another charge, bro. In the end, the man was formally charged with driving under the influence. Number two, road rage before clocking in. This incident started with a report of a physical altercation at a workplace. Now, listen closely as the complainant walks the officer through what happened. >> So, I was um I was trying to clock in and then one of my co-workers, I asked him if there was a problem because he was eyeing me down as I was parking in the parking lot. Right. So I said, "Do you have a problem?" Not as in fighting words, but as an adult tongue. You can say what you had a problem with. So I I go to plain. He's like, "Yeah, I got a problem." He comes to me and he pushes me to the ground, both hands. So I want him arrested for assault. >> I want to press charges on him. >> Okay. >> All right. Um, did anyone witness this? >> Everybody witnessed it. >> I just found out about it. >> He say I literally just walked in. >> The people here sitting there, I have a bunch of witnesses. There's probably a camera in here. One or two. >> Yeah, we're going to want to talk to them. Just for our case, we're going to want to talk to them. Um, do you think you can get videoed, >> Darius? >> I get a video. But let me talk to him. >> Sure. >> Hey, uh, is this guy like being a problem? >> No, no, he's just a permanent guy. He just runs permanent. So, I don't know. >> Is is he being problem? They said that he was being like physically restrained. >> Oh, I don't know. >> So, I was going to look at the video. Do you want to talk? You want me to bring him out here? You want to go in the office? I want to go over there. Um, one of you want to stay with Darius in this room. >> The victim says it started with a minor argument in the parking lot, but once both parties realized they worked for the same company, the tension carried over, exploding again at the login area. Now the officer turns to the suspect for his side of the story. What's up, man? Hey, what happened? >> Um, >> seriously, just trying to figure out what happened. >> All right, so I'm on this main road taking a left into the parking lot. >> Yeah. >> And this this guy's like tailgating me the whole way. >> Yeah. >> Um, so I I'm driving down to the parking lot and he's still on my he overtakes me and then he slams on the brakes and now he's in front of me. Now I got to slam on my brakes. Uh, I don't think he realized we both work here. So, I'm like, "Okay." So, I just let it go. I park up. I'm parked in the back. He's also parked in the back. I just drop it by that point. So, I walk in. There's like a little thing you clock in right here. >> Yeah. >> So, I clock in. >> Um, and then I come back in here cuz I I work in here for permits. I don't know where it is. So, I grab my stuff for the day. I'm coming back out this door right here. And now he's clocking in. And so I I you know we we both make eye contact but I'm like you know what just drop it. So I'm walking and then my car my work car is out this way. So I'm walking this way and he screams out to me, can I help you with something? So I'm like okay. So I walk up to him like why you driving like that? And I pushed him to the floor and then it was just broken up insults at that point. >> Yeah. Um did anyone else see this altercation? >> Everyone out there. >> Everyone. Everyone out there. All right. Um, I'm going to uh need your ID and your phone number. At a minimum, we're going to have to uh report this. Um, you understand that you can't push someone to the ground, right? >> Yeah. You can just drive like that. >> Yeah, I know. Yeah. Um, >> so you're saying you were on 73rd Street when he like breaked you? >> Yeah. Yeah. >> All right. Um, >> we're going to try to like look at video and talk to the other witnesses and just try to figure out what >> to get the full picture. Officers begin asking others nearby for their account of what happened. >> Yes, sir. >> Hey, what's up? How's it going? >> Did you see this um altercation? >> Yeah, I seen it happen in here. I don't I don't know about what happened outside. >> What happened in here? >> They came in. They were arguing with each other and then uh the other guy and their wife pushed them. there. I guess it was to the point already where that guy was him enough following him and all this crap. >> So he pushed in like just push like if I ran it just pushed you like that. >> He fell he fell to the ground. >> Yeah, he basket. That's it. >> I I stopped him cuz it it probably would have got wor probably would have went to close eventually but I just put in there and grabbed it right away. >> Um do you have your ID on you? >> Yeah. Oh yeah. >> Never had an issue with him. >> Never. I was surprised. He's so timid. >> He doesn't even talk. That kid doesn't even talk to anybody. >> No. Right. >> His mom works here and he's had a brother, too. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> They all work here. >> Never a problem. >> Never had a problem. >> So, this guy must have been antagonizing for a while. >> He must have really pissed him off. >> With video evidence and several witnesses confirming the events, officers take this opportunity to reinforce the complainant statement. >> Hey, this is the officer who's going to be doing the report. >> I saw the video. It happened on video. Uh, I see you're bunching in. He walks up and throws you, pushes you to the ground. Um, >> I'm going to go talk to him again. Um, I'm going to look at other video coming in and everything. Um, I understand that there was kind of like a road rage kind of incident on 73rd Street. Um, >> at the end of the day, I didn't touch him. So, >> yeah. What happened? >> So, basically, we're coming in off 73rd and he wants to wait for another two trailers and a Prius to go by. I got to clock in. I'm not waiting. I didn't beep at him. I didn't cut him off. I didn't scrape him. I didn't sidewipe him. Nothing. No reason for him to be upset. I even accelerate to get away from him as I I don't want to bother him. So, I come into the parking lot. I accelerate. I go to park. He comes in behind me, tries to see where I'm going to park, stares me down the whole way. I decide I'm not going to park there cuz he's already got his eye on my car. So, I park somewhere else. He parks closer to me. You can see it in the video if it's there. He followed me to another parking spot. He gets out, eyes my car down all the way to come in through that door. So, >> we go from here to here and walk all the way back over there to enter, right? And then as I'm coming here to clock in, he's walking that way. I'm like, "Is there a problem?" Cuz he keeps staring at me. It's not fighting words. It's can you communicate what is the problem? So, he says, "Yeah, you know what the problem is?" And then he pushes me. >> I got you. >> So, at the end of the day, I didn't do to him for him to react. >> Saw the video. I just want to make sure that you never like threatened him. >> I swear to God, I promise you, I didn't. >> I didn't talk to him. So, um, do you know the So, you want him arrested? I want him arrested. I want to press charges on him. >> So then you'll go to our PD um and sign a criminal complaint like right right after us. >> Okay. >> All right. Um so we're going to give you that info in a minute. I'm going to go talk to him one more time. I'll so I'll show my supervisor the video. Um he's going to get arrested and charged with battery. Um but we'll be we'll be in touch with you. Don't leave. Um cuz if if you don't cooperate with the signing of the complaints and come to our PD and sign him, he gets released without charges. >> Oh, no. I'm going to be here, right? >> So, don't leave. >> He briefs the manager on the next steps, clearly aware that making an arrest here could complicate things for everyone involved. >> Rich, what do you want me to do? What's my next step? >> Nothing. Um so, based on the video, this guy's adamant that he wants him arrested. I want to talk to him one more time and make sure that this guy didn't do anything um in the parking lot or anything like that. We got to see video. See if it's a mutual combatants kind of thing. I don't think it is. He's gonna end up having to come to the station. He gets >> because he touched them. He pushed him. >> Yeah. So, it's a simple battery. It's a sign and release. Um he's going to be done with us in 45 minutes. We can probably give him a ride back here. Um >> Oh, you guys you have to take him with right now. >> Yeah, he's got we can't do it on the street. Well, you're not going to put any handcuffs on the guy, right? >> Well, with our policy, we have to in the squad car, so we can walk him out. >> We're not in my building. >> We'll walk him out. >> Um, is he his family and stuff work here, I guess, too. So, I'm not trying to make a big >> Okay. Yeah. Know >> from what he made it sound like started tailgating, got in front of him, slammed on the brakes. >> Yeah. Yeah. I just want to talk to him one more time. Jimmy. >> All right. Um, so did he have at any point like threatened you? >> No. Or he kept instigating. I'm I mean I'm I'm like, "It's all good. Whatever. Just drop it. I got my stuff. I'm I'm going to to start my my work. >> I come out here and as he's clocking in now, he's telling me, "Do we got a problem?" >> Yeah. >> It's like, "Why are you still with me?" So yeah, I push him I pushed him to the floor. Yeah. Stop with him. Everyone describes the suspect as calm and wellresected, but despite that, the officers have no choice but to make the arrest. Thankfully, he remains cooperative throughout. >> I know I'm sure >> we get it. Um, >> yeah. So, >> he's in the right to do all that to me, right? But >> well, the road rage the the the road rage stuff is uh it's never good, but it if he makes more if he makes no contact and there's only words, there's nothing criminal. Um >> pushing somebody is criminal. >> Pushing somebody to the ground is criminal. It's very minor. And they they seem to really they seem to really respect you here. and it sounds like your mom works here, so we're going to treat we're going to walk you out and we're not going to arrest you in front of all these people and all that stuff. Um, it's very it's a very simple process. You're going to be with us, you get charged, you get a court date. Um, and then they'll even bring you back to work. Um, >> in about an hour, the whole process takes about >> this court date. I'm going to go to jail for this. >> No, you're going to bring to the go to the station. will process you and then you get a court date. At the court date, then the judge decides, you know, if if he even shows up to court, he doesn't show up to court, they'll >> I've never done this before, >> it's um to us it's not a big deal. To you it's a big deal. Um I get it cuz you never been through it. So you'll come with us, you get charged with a simple battery misdemeanor, which is very minor. You can even probably work out some program with the court that had that'll have it expuned off your record. Um, it's just going to be a process for you. And if he doesn't even go to court, it just gets thrown out. Um, >> um, do you have anything any knives or anything on you? You would just want to just Okay. All right. Then you're okay with walking out with us. We don't have to handcuff you here. And Okay. Yeah. Then we'll just walk you out to the squad car. You have to be handcuffed to be in the squad car, but we'll just handcuff you right at the squad car. Is that all right with you? Was there any contact in the parking lot like with him speaking to you or he he was just staring you down? And you know, >> to the suspect's credit, he goes without resistance. >> All right, that's great. >> Yeah. >> I got it. >> Do I bring any of this? >> Well, you'll be back in a little bit. >> You'll be back as long as they're cool with you >> coming back. I mean, I guess I'll talk to Isarius out there. Just you're good right here. Just I'm not trying to embarrass you and stuff. I'm going to just walk out with you and all that. So now I go to court and judge you want to talk to him after he gets back so you could leave your leave your stuff here. Um >> dude, you you will not go to jail. >> How how old are you? >> Uh 24. >> And you have nothing on your background, right? Yeah, dude. Slap on the wrist. Um if anything, you got some street credit around here now. So, we're gonna walk you out right now. >> All right. You've been super cool. I'm going to pat you down here really quick with nobody else is around and then we can get you right in the car so it's not too cold. All right. Do you have anything sharp in your pockets? >> Uh, no. Key. >> Wallet? >> Yeah. Well, >> phone. >> Yeah. Been super cool with them. We don't do this a lot, but I'll do in front. >> As they prepare to walk him out, the officer reads the man his Miranda rightites. I have to do this. Miranda rights. >> All right. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in a court or other proceedings. You have the right to a lawyer to advise you before you answer your questions. You can have them with you during any questioning. If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be appointed to you free at any cost. before any questioning. So before questioning you, you can have a lawyer. That's what that give you a ride back in 45 minutes. If I take 45, come to HR and talk to me. >> All right. Come on. This way, please. >> Yep. Let me grab the door. It's a little tight, but we don't have a long drive. Jeez. >> I know. They >> And you're a tall guy, too. Short people have a hard time. >> The man was ultimately charged with battery. Number one, this Uber Eats driver gave police one of their craziest calls yet.
