Why don't y'all worry about her plane >> cuz you're the only one screaming once you got off the plane. So >> look, y'all leave me. >> I ain't done nothing to you guys. >> I ain't done nothing in Florida. I just got here. >> Yeah, not a good way to start. So, >> what are you doing here? >> We're bringing you to jail. >> I don't know where we're doing. >> Let me explain to you. You were cussing. We told you to stop cussing. >> Okay. >> You continue to cuss, so now you're going to jail. >> We're cussing, >> correct? Disorderly conduct. >> Boy, you got y'all taking me to jail for cussing. >> Yeah. Florida state statute. I lived this for all my life. There you go. >> Longer than you ever live, probably. >> Now comes the walk out of the airport, but the man still has plenty to say. The officers, however, aren't interested in hearing him out. >> The wrong y'all are back up there. You are about 4 foot. You belong in I I'll beat the out of you soon. Is >> that correct? Are you threatening attorney officer? Is that a charge? We can add charges if you want to do that. >> No, I had no char. >> You said you will. >> I'm saying anybody could. >> You're saying you will. >> My stepson could. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. You're what? Are you 4 foot five? He's You're 5 foot. Like you're cussing. You're disorderly conduct. >> Disrupting the air side. >> I haven't disrupted that. >> Okay. Oh, about a gallon. >> What is that? Whiskey. Was that too much for you? >> Well, I started out [ __ ] about 11 hours ago. >> All the way from the airplane all the way here. Just like this. >> For what? >> All right. We're going to search you. Okay. >> I searched me. >> We're going to go ahead. I got nothing. What are you going to search me for? >> Any anything really? Well, go ahead. Y'all have fun. >> I didn't really need your consent. >> I know you didn't cuz you're a prick. You're you're a punk. You're You're a >> I'm going home tonight. I can tell you that much. >> I bet you are. >> What you got there? Ooh. >> Before the ride to the station, officers conduct a quick pat down to make sure the man isn't carrying anything that could cause problems. Lifeaver. Yeah. Oh boy. What is that? That'll get thrown out. >> That's a cigar. >> It was a cigar. >> You guys are something. >> Thank you. >> Y'all arrested me for undershirt. No. >> Can you answer me that, sir? >> Okay. You dropped something on the ground there. >> Yeah, that lighter is going to go in the garbage. >> Well, you going to throw my lighter in the garbage? >> Yep. >> You're a one. >> Hey, sir. >> That's another charge right there. >> I don't give a treat like a treat. >> We'll treat you like a gentleman. All right. >> If you act like you got a pinch. >> Yeah, you head on by me. >> Another charge. >> We're going to add one person. I think it's just him. >> Where's the other person? >> No, just him. >> All right. You want to take him since? >> Yeah. >> No, like I didn't get to finish searching him. >> All right. >> You got him? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. As preparations for transport continue, another officer updates airport employees on the situation. >> Spider say there's a little bit of a ruckus after got off the airplane, too. >> Yeah, he got into uh resist with officers. So, he's going to go to jail for battery on a police officer. Resist and disturb resist battery. Uh he headbutted that officer there. >> Yeah. Really? >> Yeah. So, yeah, he'll go for battery on law enforcement officer phone or resist with violence felony um disturbing the peace. So, at the very at the three that I know of right now, plus whatever charges might be on the field. So, it's called battery. >> Battery on [clears throat] law enforcement. >> Yeah. Battery on a law enforcement officer is the first charge. [clears throat] >> Second charge would be resist arrest with violence. Happy new year. >> Now, those charges occurred after he got off the aircraft, but obviously there may still be your main report. >> Yeah. And then I got to get a synopsis for you guys. We could do that tonight. >> The picture becomes clearer as more staff describe what they saw on board. At one point I was I was sleep cuz he was starting to get disruptive. I was going to have a conversation with him to calm down. But then he kind of went to sleep. I was like I don't I don't want to make the situation worse at this point. So I was like let's just try to get to Tampa quietly. And he did. He slept pretty much for the rest of the flight cuz he didn't even notice that she left. But when we landed, then all of a sudden he was like, "Where is the girl? Where is she? Where is the girl?" Like, "Where is the girl that was right here?" It was just like super >> agitated. I threatened to punch the person next to him. >> Bill tried to get him to calm down. He threat, he got up out of the seat, charged Bill, hit his head, and then he's like, "You don't want me beating >> racial slurs." >> He kept threatening the guy >> directly crossing him over and over. All right. Did he physically harm any of the flight crew at all? >> He abused two, but he did not. >> Yeah. >> What did the threats amount to just like you said aircraft? >> Yeah, we've got some written >> so you can all write down your thoughts and and what you witnessed. So that'll be here in just a few minutes. Um, if you could just be patient, I appreciate it. I know it's been a long flight and a long morning for you. So, if you could bear with us. It's the beginning of my day, so I got a lot of energy, so I know I'm asking a lot and I made my coffee extra strong this morning, so I forgive the energy level. >> But, um, please, if there's anything you need until those paperwork that paperwork gets here, just please ask me and let me know. >> Um, young lady, same. I'm I'm going to ask if you could just be patient and I'll apologize for my energy level because I I've been on a flight all night. So >> before wrapping up the investigation, the officers speak with the affected passenger and airport staff one final time. >> Do you need You were struck. I understand that. Right. Do you need any medical attention? Do you feel? Are you injured in any way? >> It just scared me more than anything. I could understand force, but he did swing over and it hit me like right in my neck. He just swung his arm. 22 control. They have more questions. >> She's trying to disengage so he wouldn't really let her disenage. >> I'm sorry. Who to call you? >> I told him I wanted to to take a nap. >> Let Travis know the DC has more questions than I like turn over. Maybe like 2 or 3 minutes after that. He just his arm over and then he goes, "Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to do that. I was just hearing voices." >> And I was like, "Oh, yeah. No." And then as soon as he dropped his head to go to sleep, that's when I got up and I told him that I wanted to be >> not wise wise decisions there. >> Yeah, he was definitely not okay, >> right? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I mean, what happened and occurred on the plane? I I don't I haven't even met the the person, so I don't even know. I got here after the officers already took him and put him in the police car. So So I I don't know anything about him. Yeah, >> I can't imagine that he wouldn't have some kind of record with the way he was >> behaving. He kept he kept saying then he asked me but then kept using the N word >> but kept using that. >> Yeah, but >> I call the jail. Let them know about your passenger. >> When you get there, just adise them again when they close you in. >> He kept saying >> Yeah, thank you. I was going to do that anyway. >> I need to move. I want to do. >> It's scary. >> Scary. Yeah. >> Okay. >> The statements continue to come in helping officers piece together what happened during the flight. >> Make it at 40 or 45,000 ft. It gets even worse. >> And when the pilots come out to [clears throat] use the bathroom, we have to have someone standing guard facing the cabin. And I thought that they were I didn't realize that, you know, >> going on, but >> your case >> the whole time. And you could tell he kept really watching the flight deck and everything. And it seemed like he was kind of mocking our procedures or something. >> I think he thinks it's funny that I'm somehow going to protect you or something. But he said, "What is she going to do? If I wanted to do something, I'd still be able to do something. She's not going to be able to stop me." And I'm just like, oh, like I couldn't hear him, but you know, you get a vibe for your passengers on board, you know, and you got your eye on certain people, but >> Okay. >> Yeah, he was a problem the whole time. >> Like he's probably got a warrant for his arrest >> or he's got a history. Like I didn't notice anything weird. >> Maybe the train sent him over the edge. >> I don't know. All right. So, the whole thing was that you were just trying to get up there to make your flight and just got it and and then it escalated from there. Is that what I'm getting? >> Yes. Yes. >> Okay. But you understand my point is you got all these officers there trying to get you to cooperate with them and you're acting you're acting like grabbing me hard. I'm sitting down. I'm calm. All right. But you ain't got to start trust. He touched me. The dude the first dude in the blue blue shirt. That's what started pushing on me like put your hands on me. Meanwhile, another officer sits down with the man and makes one more attempt to explain why the situation escalated the way it did. >> Just my two cents. The reason why they do that. >> He don't want me pushing on him, right? >> Of course not. >> You don't push on me. >> We can't have anybody skip lines and go. It's a security issue. >> He told them not to let me through. I mean, I I ain't Look, I made it to security. I was going to go through security. He told them not to let me through. Now, I can't let you through. Nah, bro. I'm not going to miss my flight for y'all when nobody g offer a home for me to sleep in. >> So, we're going to escort him out in a minute. >> Okay, we're just waiting to see if he's got any warrant or anything. >> Okay. >> While the conversation continues, another officer heads over to speak with a TSA employee who first dealt with the man at the screening area. >> Where's he at? >> Ladies, gentlemen, Sergeant Stites, how you guys doing? So, who actually had the uh issue with him? All right. You probably said this already before, but help me understand exactly what happened. >> So, I was I'm working the queue out front. >> Okay. >> He comes He comes by and he's like >> he doesn't try to walk through. I said, "Sir, you can't do that. You got to go wait in line." >> He goes, "I'm not making >> Did he go around the the screening area?" Is what you're saying? >> No. No. First, he came through the middle. >> Okay. >> Of the the two cues. >> He came up the middle of the two cues while everybody was scanning on each side. down with you. >> So I had I told him, "You can't do that. You got to go wait in line." >> Okay. >> He was like, "That I'm not going to miss my flight." >> So then I watched him and he bypassed everybody. He's just going across right to the front. >> And I went up to say, "Yo, you can't do that." >> He said, "You, you ain't going to pay for me to to stay whatever." >> Okay, >> I'm not missing my fight. And then I was like, "You can't do that." So when he got to TDC, I told my guy, I said, "Don't scan him. Don't do anything." And that's when I called for OPD and soup. >> Okay. >> And he was like and he walked he just walked by. >> Now when you say he walked by he that you mean like he was trying to make his way to the tram >> or was he going back the other way? >> He was walking by the first part of the checkpoint. >> Okay. >> Where they check your ticket. >> Where they check your ticket. >> So we walked by there and he kept going. I said, "Yo, you can't do that." That's why I caught him second time for OPD and and supervisor >> heading towards the medical, >> right? He was heading towards the mag and the a the AIT. >> Okay. >> So then um >> I don't know how the front the side gate got open. >> I opened it for an officer that was coming through and then he tried to come through and I don't I tried to close him and he pushed he forced his way through. >> Did he actually pass to go through? >> He actually passed and went through. So that's what I call breach. That's my >> and then I jumped in and held them back. By now, the officers have heard from multiple people involved, and many of their accounts point in the same direction. Okay. >> I don't know what his intent was. I >> When you said he passed through, that's where the where he was with the metal detector at that point. Right. >> The side door. >> The side door, which is the 88 gate. >> Yeah. Okay. 88. >> So, you had the mag, the side door, and then >> So, how did he get back to where the metal detectors were? Where we got Where we at? >> Cuz he came through the side. He pushed his way in. And I that's why I held him from >> going any further. >> Okay. >> Did he Did he strike you? Were you hit? Were you Okay. Did you guys strike him? >> No. >> We I just pushed him. >> You just pushed him back. >> Just tell them that. That was it. >> What was he doing at that point? >> Push him back. >> Okay. All right. Um I'm just trying to understand the whole thing how it all went cuz I said I got there late. So we're going to pull the the cameras and all that other stuff. everybody. That's when all the OPD came and got him and he started fighting the >> but he didn't strike you or hit you at this point. He just tried to force his way through to make his flight. And that's pretty much what he told me in there. He said, you know, there's other ways of doing this than what I explained to him. I said, you could have talked to a, you know, the supervisor and let him know, hey, my flight is at and usually you guys are pretty good about trying to get those guys through. So, I I don't know why he went the levels he did, but um or >> rebook. >> Yeah. or rebook, you know, but usually you guys are pretty good about taking care of, you know, the people. So, um, as long as you're not injured, that's it. Just write down what you told us in there that he he forced his way through. You guys prevented >> I guess I don't I don't remember how that side door opened. I guess he opened it >> and that's when he he got it went in and that's when I stopped him and held him back. >> Is the one that bypasses that, >> right? >> But he passed he passed a bunch of other passengers that were actually getting screening. Correct. where he didn't get screened at any point at this point. Right. >> You pass everybody waiting in line and whoever >> and that's what I'm trying to get out. He didn't he didn't get screened himself at that point. Correct. >> Not at all. >> Okay. All right, gentlemen. Just make sure you guys write all of that out for me. Okay. >> You guys got all of that? Yes. So, >> the officers have spent the last several minutes gathering statements. Now, it's the man's turn to speak again. >> Going to take me home or something. >> I'm sorry. >> Y'all was going to take me home or something. No, you're under arrest. >> Get on now. Like I said, I got to get home. >> All right, man. Who's going to happen? >> We'll worry about the cops in a second. Has no wheels. Come on. Tyler, >> might as well carry me. I don't care how they >> You're going to do that. You got to catch another >> I don't give a I need to go home. Turn the camera on. Camera's on. >> Tyler, listen to me. You're a grown man. >> I am. You acting like I don't care. I don't care cuz like I said, I need to get home. I ain't worry about nothing else. >> Y'all made the issue. If y'all would have let me through, I would have been on the plane. >> How? >> I'm 20. All right. >> The longer we take, the longer it'll take for you to get out. >> I don't care. I'm still going to get home. Sleep at night. I don't sleep in no jail. >> You're under arrest. If you do not walk, you continue with the resistance. >> Create a whole new system. >> Y'all should just die. God should redo >> the door.
