That's the thing about law enforcement. Cops don't need a siren or a gun drawn to cause tension. All it takes is curiosity and for some people curiosity from an officer is enough to trigger panic, ego, or just guilt. And when a man's confidence turns defensive that fast, you don't need the world's greatest detective to see what's really going on. And I've dealt with so many people who'd rather argue than just answer a simple question. You see it over and over. Pride outruns common sense and suddenly the officer just doing his job becomes the problem. They'll puff their chest, talk over an officer, and perform like they're auditioning for the top YouTube comment award instead of behaving like they're in real life. When their act starts to crumble, that's when you see the truth. The fear, the insecurity, and the commotion that comes from trying too hard to control what isn't there to control.
