And then what are those? >> Uh, eight boxes of trading cards. >> Six. Six. Six. >> Six. Yep. You're right. >> Seven boxes. >> I got seven CP snackers here. Six. Look at these. That's the >> one, two, three, four, five, six, seven. >> I might have not took I might have overcharged it. >> CT Snackers, do you mind if you just run in with uh loss prevention with us and just get this straightened out cuz I'm not reading this all correctly. >> Okay. >> All right. Perfect. Thank you. I appreciate you. >> No, you're good. I'm sorry. >> All right. So, the scooper's been doing this in Michigan and Ohio. >> Okay. >> I was like, >> "So, was he scanning like a >> I don't know if he had something else printed, but he had it was like a little thing of like clearanced apples, and I'm wondering if he just multiple times." >> Okay. Do you want to see a video first or do you want a receipt? >> Uh, receipt. This section of the video is redacted in line with policy, [music] but according to the store staff, the suspect was unmistakably caught stealing trading cards on camera. >> I don't think it's going to be a felony. And then we do have a trespass form for him, too. Okay, perfect. >> Okay, so that's what he was scanning. Okay. >> I was wondering I'm like, he's got another sticker on there somewhere. >> Do we have a piece of paper that we can put that on and I can put it in evidence? >> I was wondering. I'm like I'm watching him scan it and I'm like there's no way he's going to pay for those cards. >> Right. >> Say I don't I just need his what's on here. >> Yeah. >> Name and date of birth really is all I need. >> Okay. All right. I'm going to run out and get that. >> Um if you get the receipt and then um we have this. So you scanning this and that's for a dollar, correct? >> Yes. >> Okay. I'll leave this here. I'll be right back. Okay. >> Hi ma'am. >> Hi. >> All right. So, he has a receipt here. We wanted to just verify what's on the receipt versus what's >> So, those are not $1. Those are trading cards. So, they'll be >> So, how much are they? >> Not a dollar. So, you've been doing this in Michigan and Ohio. >> Okay. So, that's not accurate then? >> No. Okay. >> All right, sir. So, at this time, you are going to be placed under arrest. Okay. >> Hold on. Put your hands behind your back. >> Sir, put your hands behind your back. You're being placed under arrest. >> I hear that. I have my phone in my hand. >> All right. We got your phone. All right. He's going to need two. >> So, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. You have the right to an attorney. What do you think? That's just >> Don't Don't reach for anything. Okay. >> How am I reaching? >> You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford one, one will be provided for you by the state. Okay? If you choose to speak with us now and you >> without Hold on. Left one. Left one. Left one. This one horribly hard. >> All right. >> Yes, I am out with them now. >> All right, we're going to get you. Okay. >> All right. Stop twisting. All right. >> I'm sorry. I'm not trying to. >> What do you keep reaching for? >> I'm not reaching for anything. >> You keep grabbing stuff. >> I'm catching my back. >> Okay. >> Cuz there's things. >> Since the man is cooperating, officers are willing to give him some leeway as they search him and walk him to the cruiser. So, your cuffs are double locked. So, that means that they are not going to tighten once you twist. Okay. >> I know. I'm not trying to twist. I'm just saying the left one is really big. >> Just don't twist your arms. Okay. >> I'm currently searching you to make sure you have no weapons or anything on you. >> No weapons. >> Where's your car at? >> Over there. >> Is anybody with you? >> No. I got to call my wife. You have this phone? >> Yeah, please. >> Uh, she has his phone. >> It's over there. >> All right. We're going to go to I can take them and do all everything. >> Okay. I'll get the info from >> We're going to my cruiser. >> Okay. Yeah, it's a Hyon day. >> Hyundai. Okay. Who dropped you off? >> It's me and my me and uh my wife. But my my wife uh is doing an order. >> All right. What's your wife's name? >> Tiffany. >> Can you unlock the door if you don't get in there like that? >> Just like how else would you get in there? >> Well, you see the seat belt. >> Okay. Yeah, that's goes over you. Ah, >> dude. This left one. There's no way I could like get this a little better. This left one. I'm just a big guy. That's all. >> I checked it, but it's also tight because he has the big wrists. So, if you want to check it again real quick. >> I'm sorry, guys. I'm not trying to be painful. >> Well, we're not also trying to hurt We're not trying to hurt you. So, >> I'm not doing anything hurt me face inside of my bruiser. Yeah, that's a lot better. >> He's honest and compliant from the beginning, and officers show a bit of leniency, accommodating his request regarding the cups and giving him a chance to contact his wife. >> Thank you guys. >> I'll go and talk to her real quick. >> Yep, sounds good. I'll start getting on the paper. >> Um, if you guys can. Um, I'm everything to my wife. >> I have she is for a hotel. >> Okay. I have to get a hold of her immediately. So, >> she's going to reach out to me. >> Well, there's no way I could talk to her and just tell her what she has to do. So, that >> Let's cross that bridge. Okay. When we come to it, let me go talk to them, then we'll go from there. >> You guys going to talk to them real quick? >> Yes. >> Okay. here. >> Oh, most certainly. >> It's so freaking hot back here. >> It sure is. >> You don't understand. We're in a hotel right now. >> Okay. >> That's why I've been doing what I've been doing. I I haven't been able to afford everything. It's $2,600 a month just to be where I'm at. On top of that, we don't have our vehicle. I've been renting a car. >> So, you know what I mean. >> What's your social? >> Okay. >> Yep. I got you. I'm going to help you out. Okay. >> I have the cards. I have the cards. As requested, the officers placed a call to his wife and let him have a brief conversation. >> Money on it. >> What? >> Hey, honey. >> Very, very bad news. >> What? >> I got picked up by the police. >> What did I do? >> Um, I don't know where I'm going yet. Um, you know, when you dropped off the car at Meyer, you have to tell the guy who we rented from to pick up his car from Meyer. His name is Sammy. Okay. >> Um I don't Do you have his number? >> Um I don't think so. No. >> All right. Um this is going to be this officer is going to help me cuz he knows my situation and he it's going to be a while. Um you know I love you, right? >> Yes. >> Okay. But here's the problem. You know, in in jail and stuff, you have to keep up on me because I I am very It's very hard for me to get any information to you. >> I know. >> Okay. Is that going to be Franklin? >> Delaware. >> Oh, I'm going to be going to Delaware County Jail. Okay, this is the officer who's talking with us. He's helping. So, um, the car, get a piece of paper, please. >> Okay. >> I know you're going to be very, very upset. I am so sorry. >> All right. You got to wrap this up. Okay. >> I'm trying to do this quick. I I just have to get Are you okay, honey? >> Okay. You have to call Sam. You have Sean's number. You have my mom's number. You have to call Brian Pascowitz up. Brian will help you go to the Delaware County Jail and you'll be able to get your cards for the little money that's on there because they're your cards. >> With time running out, they can't allow the call to continue. It's time to move forward and close out the case. >> Okay, say goodbye now. >> Real quick, honey. Um, sorry. Uh, last thing, honey. Um, the he wants me to wrap this up. So, just keep in touch with me. I'll try to call you back. They might let me call you back in a little bit. >> Okay. >> All right. Say goodbye. >> All right. No offender. >> Uh, he's got a full extradition one. >> Nice. >> Yeah. >> From where? >> Michigan. >> Michigan. >> It looks like. Yeah. >> He's been doing this for a long time. That's what they said. >> Yeah. >> Um yeah, we have the stickers on the bottom of the boxes that he was doing. >> Okay. >> Um so we'll have those for evidence. She's doing up the receipt now. >> Okay. Sweet. >> What? >> Um yeah, >> I don't know if her >> 60 said we can just do direct transport. If you're okay, I I don't know how long that'll be. I can try and start on the charges or if you'd be willing to work on that while I'm transporting and then email it to me and then we'll just boom boom boom. >> Absolutely. >> Okay. I'll start I'll start working on it now though and then like >> Okay, perfect. >> But >> yeah, I'll download it and then just share it that way. >> Hi. >> Sorry. >> No, you're okay. >> All right. So, this is nice. Okay. This is B A R D A N I. Um I don't know if B a Barbani is his name. Barbani. >> Yep. >> Does it say B? >> Yeah. I just can't write. All right. If you want to sign that and uh if we can make a copy to give to him that way that we have >> um Looks like he has a bunch of warrants too out of Michigan and for very similar things. So, >> I was going to say we file charges in Michigan. I just don't know if the Columbus folks have started doing that yet. >> Yeah. He already had warrants and now he's walking away with one more charge and another retail ban on his record. >> No, he doesn't. I haven't looked at his whole sheet yet, but we'll be taking him to Delaware. You guys do want to prosecute, correct? >> Yes, we do. >> I have another case on him, too. If >> you >> Yeah, we can. >> I'll have it ready, but >> Yeah. So, we can do charges today if you can get like the report and everything, the footage and all that and um like obviously a statement like that and then we can add that to the report. So, >> cool. Okay. >> I'll check too and see if he has a trespass already. >> Okay, perfect. >> I say it wouldn't be out of Ohio, but I don't know. >> Yeah, >> he might. I'm not sure though. >> Yeah, this is a good catch. So, do you guys have like facial recognition or like >> We have um basically like an OC investigator. Okay. >> So, we were all having a bunch of cases on this guy and we sent it in for facial recognition and she saw it and she was like, >> "Um, that's so and so out of Michigan." Oh, of course he's in Ohio. >> No, that's awesome. All right, perfect. We'll serve him for this and we'll get the charges together and go from there. >> Oh, thank you so much. I appreciate >> Perfect. Thank you. And just uh I don't know. I'll give you my card for the >> Oh, yeah. The case number. >> Mhm. And then that way you can shoot me an email and you have it together and I'll pick it up. >> Yeah, I'll get that done. Actually, I can just email you everything so you don't even have to come back. >> That's awesome. >> I don't know what to do with that. >> The best thing would to do would be to not steal. >> I understand what I've done, sir. >> Okay. >> I know you're trying to be truthful, and I get it. I don't want to steal. >> What's your address, sir? >> Where? Now >> where I live now 5, you know, it's just >> So you don't own a house or anything? >> No. >> If you didn't have that hotel, where would you go? >> If I didn't have the hotel, where would I go from here? >> We'll just put the hotel for now. >> Yeah. I mean, I'm I'm trying to figure out >> What city is that in Columbus? >> That's in Yeah. >> With the man being respectful and open throughout, the officer lets him place one more call to his wife. >> I appreciate your cooperation. >> Tiffany, just just he's letting me call you one more time. Just be okay. Everything. You know what? This has to have been done no matter what. You could call Sean. Call Brian. Okay. So, remember, you need a couple bucks. I mean, I don't know who's gonna give you the money. Call Steve Selva. Let him know what's going on. Call Sean and call my mother. >> I already called Sean. He said he doesn't know what to do right now. He said he wanted to know what you're getting charged for. >> Oh, it's petty theft or something or lararseny or theft or something. It's theft. But that's this this the big deal is, you know, I'm going to >> for a warrant. >> Yeah. Well, I have warrants. You know that. >> Okay. >> So So try to stay calm. Try to get a hold of your mother. >> All right, sir. So this is your form notice of trespass from all Meyer properties. Okay. So you've been given a criminal trespass by an authorized agent of Meyer. This criminal trespass informs you that Meyer is a privately organ owned organization that reserves the right to refuse service to anyone at any time for any reason. Okay. This time you are no longer permitted on any Meyer property that includes but is not limited to Meer stores, gas stations, parking lots, warehouses, and any Meerowned land. Failure to obey the rules of this trespass will result in your immediate arrest and prosecution for criminal trespassing. Do you understand? Have you been trespassed before from Meyer? Okay. So, I'm going to put this up with your stuff. Okay. And it's going to go with them or with your stuff. She's getting the uh the rest of the stuff ready and she'll email me when she has it. I can just forward it to you. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> In addition to being issued a criminal trespass to all Meer locations, the man was also charged with theft. [music] Number four, she claimed she stole nothing. The camera footage told a different story. On April 17th, 2025, officers were dispatched to a local Walmart after a woman was reportedly caught shoplifting. Loss prevention staff had watched her go shelftoshelf stashing items in her purse. What she didn't know was that officers were already in position, waiting for her to pass the final point of sale. Here's what happened next. Can you please see the camera? >> Police is going to get involved. >> Don't grab me. Hey, >> you guys don't have any. You don't have to go, >> man. >> Can you please let me go, please? >> Can you let me go, please, so I can do it. >> You didn't even give me a chance. >> You didn't even give me your back. >> You You didn't give me a chance. >> You gave me a chance. >> You did not. You won't even get off of me. How can I do that? >> Put your enemy on your back. Can you please get my You know what this is? This is how you guys treat me. This is how you guys treat people. >> Get your elbow off of me. Get your elbow off of me. I'm just trying to get my shoe on. You don't have to be a You guys allow me to do that to me as a woman. >> I got some. Thanks. >> One of them is >> Can you please get my shoe on, please? Thank you. Can Can you please put my shoe on? >> Put your shoe over and stand your shoe off. >> The stolen items spill out the moment her purse hits the ground. [music] But instead of acknowledging it, she turns her focus on the officer, accusing him of mistreatment. >> That was unnecessary. >> No, it wasn't cuz you didn't have to do that to me. Thank you very much. >> You were fighting me the whole time. I was not fighting you at all. You literally grabbed me and smashed me against the the the >> go and put your >> And then you put your your knee on my back and I told you I have a spine injury. >> Put your feet underneath. >> I can't. I have a spine injury. You have to put You have to literally stand me up. >> Yeah. With your legs. >> I'm not able to do that. I'm telling you that. >> 913. I want to go. >> You straight put your knee in my back and my spine. And I told you I have a spine injury. You're big as looking at me in my spine. >> This is Are you injured? >> Can someone help me, please? >> Hey, are you injured at all? >> Yeah, I would like to get checked out. >> Yeah, they're on their way. >> That's fine. Can you please help me get up? >> I can't help you get up. If you can't help me, >> I need two people to stand me up, sir. You just put your knee in my spine. I have a spine injury. >> Okay. Are you able to actually assist me? Cuz I'm not assist you. I don't have my hands. >> No, use your legs to stand up. >> I can't. >> Okay, then I can't just lift you up. You're not >> You're not 5 lb either. You're big. Got on the top. >> Just wait and I'll get another officer over here to help me. >> No, you're hating me and didn't evening tell me what the reason was. >> The job left. They told you. >> So, what are your injuries? Is this your back? I told you what they are. I don't have to say nothing else to you. >> Okay. >> Can I make a phone call, please? >> And what are you arresting me for? What am I being arrested for? >> Obstruction and theft third. >> Theft third. Theft third is what? For what exactly? You don't even know what I stole. Shoplifting. >> You don't even know what I stole. >> She doesn't waste time trying to justify herself. But what comes out of her mouth next, it's not what the officer expected. And furthermore, isn't there a limit for when you take people to jail? >> It sounds like you're pretty familiar with this process. >> You know what? Because I actually want to be a lawyer one day. That's why that's why I'm familiar with something. I don't have a I don't have time. >> Future lawyer. >> I don't have a record. I'm just somebody trying. I'm just somebody trying to make it in life. Oh, you're fat. >> Yeah. You want to go? >> I need help. I have a spine injury. >> So, can you please be careful? He put his knee in my spine and I told him I had a spider. >> Here. Uh, we can solve that problem by don't resist. >> I'm not resisting. >> Now you're not. But >> I wasn't resisting in the first place. So don't tell me not to resist. >> Okay. We're going to start off this way. All right. >> Thank you. I appreciate that. >> That's not how they >> I'm not at all. >> Okay. That's fine. No, I'm not treated like everybody else. I'm a black woman. >> Oh, please stop. >> Yeah, you're black and you see you seen him just on the ground. >> No, I didn't see anybody. Have a seat, please. >> I'm not talking to you, sir. >> Oh, I don't care if you're not talking to me. I'm talking to you. >> I was talking to that one. >> She took underwear and shirts and she >> I did not take underwear. I paid for my underwear. >> That's the one that we have underwear and shirts. Conceal the shirts and pay for the underwear. That's what I was saying. Then >> is there anything else? >> There's nothing else. It's just shirts and you don't you don't have >> Yes, he has legal authority. Stop through my >> No, I did not authorize >> exercise your right to remain silent. Then >> listen, I did not authorize him to go through my >> You don't have to. You're under arrest for shoplifting. >> You know what? And I didn't authorize you and you have the wrong ID. >> Oh my god. >> Sir, >> no. Nobody's We're going to stop talking to you. >> That's the wrong ID, >> sir. Just why are you going to get all that stuff out of my purse? It's just a couple shirts. >> She doubles down, pushing blame and claiming she should walk free now that the items are recovered. The officers, however, don't entertain it for a second. >> Don't go through my purse. You're not That's it. That's all I have. You don't have to go through my purse. Is legal. You can put that back in my purse. You have no right to go through the rest of my items. >> You're going to bite of your rights. Okay. >> No, I'm not. He has. Why are you going through the rest of my purse? >> Argue it in court. That's your legal right. >> Okay, that's fine. I will do that. >> All right, man. I'm going to advise you your rights right now. Having these rights in mind, do you wish to talk to us? >> Listen, I will I will cooperate, but I don't like how he's going through my purse. There's nothing else in there for you to go through my purse. I would appreciate if you not not went through the rest of my purse. >> You're going to go to jail today. So, be cut for obstruction and theft third. Okay. >> No, listen. I I have every you can for that reason items back. >> I need to actually look through this. >> Take me to jail. I don't have a record. >> And I apologize, but I'm homeless. Okay. >> I am homeless. I don't have any anywhere to go. >> Can you please put put my stuff? Can I please go home? That's all I want to do is go home. >> Take me to jail. I'm homeless. >> Like I'm homeless. That's why I took a few shirts. >> Where's home if you're homeless? What do you mean? Where's home? >> Said you're home, but you want to be taken home. >> I went in my car. In my car. That's where I belong. In my car. >> Which car is yours outside? >> Sir, so you're taking me to jail. >> For what? >> For obstruction. You fought me. >> I did not fight you, sir. You >> Yeah, I gave you a lawful order. Stop. >> No, you literally put your knee in my back and I'm not going to argue with you against the You're taking me to jail and you literally slammed me again. You didn't even give me an opportunity. >> Yes, I did. Did I give you? >> No, you did not. >> Okay, >> so taking me to jail for what? >> Shoplifting is called theft. It's a crime. >> Understand. Okay, >> I understand that. But take me to jail for Why do I have to go to jail? Why can't I be in court? >> Again, see, there's that self-entitled thing. Anybody who commits a crime can be taken self, but I'm telling you, if you commit a crime law, I don't >> Well, you are today. You shouldn't have committed shoplifting. >> She's only making things worse the more she talks. And by now, the officers have a clear picture of who they're dealing with, and they're not interested in cutting her any slack. >> Can I please make a phone call >> at the jail? >> Can I ple >> Yes, at the jail you can. You have a right to at the jail. >> That'll probably help you in court. You should keep talking, >> sir. Listen, I'm already in trouble for whatever this is. He literally put his knee in my in my >> Don't resist. >> No, I wasn't resisting. I was not resisting. >> Well, I can tell by your attitude from the moment I met you that it's probably more plausible that you were resisting and arguing. >> No, I was not, sir. He literally slammed me against the the the door. >> Okay. Well, like I told you before, then just argue with in court. >> Okay. Those are all my cards. So, why do you have >> Is there something that you're worried that I'm going to find? >> No, I'm not. >> You really don't want me to keep searching? >> Because this is my belongings. >> All right. >> I don't need you to go through my documents. >> You're under arrest. So yeah, you have to be search incident to arrest. >> Can you please answer that please so I can talk to him? >> Nope. You're under arrest so you don't get a phone call. >> Officer Cordo, if you like to do a search incident to arrest on this gal. >> So I'm going to explain to you real quick. He's going to stand you up and he's going to search your person per law. So he'll have you stand up. He's going to search your pockets. You have anything else that you shouldn't have on you? Do you? Perfect. I like the way you responded. >> He's just doing the search real quick and then just one second. >> Sorry. >> Yeah. Do you have ID? >> Okay. Do you want me to Are you wanting to go to the hospital today? >> Sorry. I I want to go home. I want to go sleep in my car. That's where I live. I'm homeless. >> So, what I'm worried about is your medical condition right now. Are you in Are you in back pain? >> I do have You want to go to school in my in my spine? Okay. >> Do you think so? We don't see anything based on the email that we're seeing. >> Okay. >> But but based on what happened, if you'd like to go to the hospital to get an X-ray. >> No, it's okay. >> You don't want that? >> I need to check myself out when I get out. >> Okay. All right. No problem. >> The medics are cleared from the scene and the woman is now headed to booking. >> All right, guys. We're good to go. Thank you. >> All right. I just want her to know that she's not running. >> So, what we'll do for you is um when we get to the uh outside the jail cuz there's kind of a line like a sallyport area, >> we'll get your cell phone um we'll hold it to your ear and you can talk to her. >> Does that sound good? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> I appreciate that. >> Thank you. And I appreciate you being cooperative. >> The woman was ultimately charged with theft and obstruction. Number three, when arguing with officers only makes the situation worse. On March 18th, 2024, several officers were dispatched to a Walgreens following reports of a shoplifter. Here's what unfolded when they confronted the suspect. >> Please go and tell me what I said to take cuz I feel like I push it back. Hold on. I'll be right back. Mhm. >> I had some mocha and some Tylenol and I put it back cuz I seen the movie. >> You didn't take it on with you? >> No, not from here. No. >> I seen the I seen him watching. >> You got ID or anything on you? Did they get it already? >> I don't know. I don't know if I got my card. >> No, I'm just going to check. I don't know. I don't know if I got it on. >> You got anything else on me that anything stick? I'm good. >> I'm just making sure, bro. I I'm not accusing you or anything. I'm just asking. >> I'm just telling you. >> I ain't got no need. I don't got no need for none of that. >> I appreciate that. >> You said you don't have ID or you don't know? >> I got stuff, but it ain't What do you mean >> an ID? >> I don't know if I got my ID on. >> You got anything with your name on it? No, I don't even know if this is like I I don't I don't even know if we have you handed properly, man. >> Say again. >> I think I might need to let you go. >> Well, either way, we have you stopped. You're detained right now. We just have to identify you. >> They said, >> we're going to work that out. >> They said what they said and I'm telling you no. I put the stuff back. >> Just for one moment. We may let you go, but either way, right now, you're detained in handcuffs. We need to identify you. That's what I'm saying. Okay, now let me go find out what's going on. >> While the sergeant steps away, the remaining officers try to deescalate the situation. Meanwhile, the suspect starts pointing fingers at someone else. >> I don't think Why don't you tell them to come here, bro? Cuz they can tell you one thing and I can be a whole story. She put the cuffs on the sick. I already know that like >> you have no You have no idea. >> No. >> You don't want to give me a name, >> bro? Talk to these people right here, man. They give him one last opportunity to comply. Unfortunately, the suspect still won't budge. Oh, >> no. You You don't got ID on you or anything? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> You're not giving your name? >> No. All right, then. Right now, >> I've explained this to you. You're still under arrest after the fifth fourth time I told you you're under arrest. Now you want to try to bargain and barter to get your way out of it. >> Because there's no reason for me to be going through this. There's no reason at all. >> In my car you >> with a suspect refusing to give his name. Officers decide it's time to secure him in the back of the cruiser. He said the origel song. >> He's saying he I I guess he's trying to say he shoplifted from some of it from somewhere else. But if it's the same stuff you say you're putting in the bag, it kind of is what it is. >> As the suspect holds firm on his denial, officers meet with the store manager to see if the claims match up. >> Is this all from that same aisle where he was? >> Uh, no. >> I just want to make sure he's trying to say he didn't shop list any of it from here. >> Oh, no. I saw him have it on camera. Oh, this is this is like the origin. Okay. >> Yeah.
