All right, Jill. So, here's the issue. Okay. I contacted my supervisor who said because of the previous incident, I have to take you into custody. >> We have one suspect stopped, another one of >> Come over here. >> Some shoplifterss don't stop making bad decisions after they're caught. Here are some of the most toxic shoplifterss officers have ever encountered. Woman shoplifting hall left officers speechless. On June 5th, 2026, officers with a Middletown Township Police Department responded to a shopright after loss prevention reported catching a woman shoplifting. Here's what employees told officers upon their arrival. >> Hello. How you doing? Hi. How you doing, miss? >> All right. What's going on today? >> So, everybody knows my body camera is on a recording. Okay. >> So, um I observed her in the liquor store with a full cart. It was $500 and some dollars. I went tracked it back real quick and it turns out she came from an aisle after making a se couple selections and right out the door. So, she got to her car and she was loading it up. I had gave me enough time to go back and and watch her and see that she didn't go to a register. So, then when I got to the car, she didn't have a receipt and then she said, "I think I forgot to pay." So, she said it's her first time, but I just went back on her on Sunday and I have her doing the same thing on Sunday. >> Okay. You have a driver's license? Yes. >> Okay. Do you have a receipt for how much >> the is 524? I'll get the paper for >> one in the past. Okay. >> Uh for the one in the past, do you you have the video you could put? >> Well, I have the this is I don't have it done. I mean, I don't even have today's done yet because I'm uh I mean I went back cuz she said she's never done this before. So, I wanted to see if this was a one-time deal or if this was more. Um and it turns out she was here Sunday and did the same thing. So here, if you look at Sundays, >> your kids? >> Yes, I have five kids. >> Are they with you? >> No. >> Are they being taken care of right now? >> Mhm. >> Okay. >> As officers begin questioning the woman, store employees help fill in the details that led to the call. >> Oh, I'm sorry. >> I'm sorry. I You came here by yourself, right? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Yeah. There was no one else in the car. >> Okay. >> Yeah. So, this was Sunday. I can show you today, but this is Sunday. She did the same thing. she selected uh she has a full cart. She has the kids with her, which I didn't think she would do anything with the kids, but um So, she's going to come out of the aisle and she's right here and she goes into the liquor store. >> Okay. Do >> you have an idea on your mail? >> Yeah, I have. >> Yeah. Okay. >> This is last week, though. >> This is last week. I can show you today. I just wanted to show you that she's been doing she's been doing this. >> Um, >> so for today, I just need the receipt for today. >> He went out to get you the receipt. They had to ring it up. It was $524. >> Um, and as far as you said Sunday. >> Mhm. >> I'm just going to need the the value for everything on that. >> It's going to take a while. So, can I It's going to take a while to put together. >> Okay. >> Because we have to reenact the whole thing and then shop the order. And I have a feeling we're going to go back. It's going to be a lot. So, do you want my guy to put it all together all the times and then reach out to you with all the video and the and the receipts? Um, well, we need we'll handle today first and then and then if you can't finish for the previous ones, we still have identified her and then we can handle that separately. Okay. >> Exactly. That's what I figured we'll do today. So, I can burn the video for you and drop it off. I don't know what time you're on till, but I can do it today for you. >> He's getting you the receipt. >> 52437. the system pros that are rescanning it, okay, to give you the actual give you the paper, but that was when it you can see the total on there. >> As employees review everything, they determine the merchandise involved in this incident alone is worth nearly $550. >> So, I I just want to reiterate before before we're done here, she left $524 of alcohol product, >> went to the car, you stopped her before she departed as well. >> Before she left. Yeah. >> Okay. >> Asked her for a receipt and she could not provide one. >> Okay. And uh which I already knew she didn't have one because I watched her. I just went back and reviewed video real quick. Okay. >> And she didn't >> I'm 35. >> 35. Okay. So, we're going to take care of this part and then uh I'm going to have some paperwork as you know just for you to fill out and then uh >> Yeah, we'll be on our way. Okay. >> Okay. Did you want to see today's just for your >> Yeah, if you want to show me. >> Sure. All right. So, uh let me just go >> uh the exit. >> Yep. Let me just Well, it's going to be a little bit because she went to the liquor store. So, I got to switch systems. So, um she >> No knives, nothing like that on your right. >> No. >> No. Okay. I'm just asking. >> I just want to make sure you said you have five kids. They're they're taken care of, right? Like you you don't have any responsibility to be Okay. >> Okay. Perfect. >> I just have my son's christing Sunday. >> Okay. That's no concern for right now. You'll be all right. >> Do you live down here now? Are you following New York? >> I live here. >> Where? Where abouts? >> Middle town. Um, >> okay. >> Okay. So, this is her in the liquor store and I'm going to go back and show you selection and everything. So, this is her buying. She bought a bottle which is in the car and then today I will fill it. I will put you in aisle. >> So, a purchase was made >> for the liquor and that's not included. That I left that in the car. She did pay. >> So, that's not part of the 500. >> Part of the 500. Yeah. >> As officers review surveillance footage with loss prevention, they learned this incident is only part of a much larger pattern with the total value of the alleged thefts approaching $2,500 across multiple incidents. >> Check the area. >> Okay. So that's her going out with the product. So now when I backtrack it, >> that was at 501. That was today, right? >> That was today. At 501 is when she walked out. So she goes in, she purchases a bottle or she gets a bottle, she purchases it. Now I'm just going to spin around because when she walks in, then I just have the time that she comes in cuz everything's good there. Okay, so 557 or 457. Hey D. >> Hey, how are you? >> Good. Hi. How are you doing? Hello. >> Receipt. Hi. How you doing? >> Receipt. I just want to reiterate this doesn't include the bottle that she did pay for, right? Yeah, >> that's in the car. >> After reviewing the surveillance footage, the officers have the answers they need. From here, all that's left is to wrap up the investigation. >> Yeah, that's her going out. >> Okay. >> Okay. I'll burn everything for you for today. >> Yeah, that's fine. Um >> and then we'll worry about the other stuff. We'll put that all together and just reach out to you. Yeah, you could just do a follow-up call and then they can go ahead and handle that separately. >> Okay. >> Um, yeah, I'm just going to give you that paperwork, but we're going to handle her first, then I'll come back. >> You need a statement, right? I can >> the written statement. >> I think I have them. >> I think I I made copies. >> Yes. You are going to be placed under arrest shop, I think. Okay. You mind just taking the bag off? We'll >> Yes. >> You want to look at your phone so you don't pop? >> Yeah. Would it be okay if I pulled my husband? >> We could do that. We're not going to do it right now. >> I don't know. Here. Well, I'll take you. It's fine. >> All right. Just got to take the first. >> Anything else in your pockets or anything like that, man? Okay. Is this too tight for you? >> No. >> You got small wrist. I'm just I'm just making sure they're not hurting you. >> All right. She used the right form. So, I'll come back for you. >> I just need you to roll this up. You're okay. >> Here. Just I need you to face your wrist out. Probably be a little less a little more comfortable that way. Thank you. Just hold on. I got to All right, move out this way. I'm going to grab your push. >> All right, make a right. Yep. >> I'll be right back. Is >> that police car right there? We're going to go after that. The officers now escort the woman to the patrol car before transporting her to the Middletown Township Police Department for processing. Wait, >> we're going to go on the opposite side. Okay, >> take one second. Will I be out by today? >> Yeah, like 2 hours maybe. >> Here, I'll take the pop. You got a fleet kid? >> Yeah. Can you just pop open? H I got >> Thanks. >> That's why. >> It's the heat county. Sorry. >> Okay. >> I'm just going to reach to put your seat belt on. >> 3 5 3 6 one. If you just run that subject all the way around, please. >> All right. Should be like 2 hours. Okay. >> Thanks, bro. >> Make sure you search us. You said what? >> Just make sure you search us now. All right. She had enough money to pay for groceries. Jeez, it's a lot of cash. >> 31 420 female 41. >> I'll get the statement, everything else for you. You >> sure? Just a statement in the vine and then it say >> Yeah, I'll get the vine statement stuff for you. >> Thanks, bro. Uh, >> are you with us? >> You have the print out? Yeah, I'm staying over tonight. Uh, what was the total amount? >> I have it in my pocket. I got It was like five. It was just over five. >> The woman was later charged with shoplifting and released pending her scheduled court appearance. Repeat shoplifter thinks her excuse will work. On February 17th, 2026, officers with the St. Charles Police Department responded to a target after loss prevention reported a woman allegedly using the selfch checkckout to underpay for merchandise. Here's what happened when officers confronted her. >> Hello. >> How you doing? >> Hello. >> This is Jill. We just have an incident of skip scanning at our selfch checkout. >> Okay. So, today's date is $2744. >> Yeah. >> Got to ask obvious questions. Some of you guys want to proceed with charges on this, >> not just a ban or whatever. >> No, no, we have to document it. Yeah. >> Okay, no problem. I'm just making sure. Do you have a driver's license on you? >> Do you still live on? >> No. >> No. >> Just, you know, my body camera is on and all that just stuff is nowadays. But mind explaining what happened? I scanned I thought I scanned the items. I had no intention of stealing them. >> Okay. >> I It was a It was a mistake. I I don't know how it happened. I swore I scanned them. The total to me I thought was the right amount. I I thought it was going to cost me about 60 bucks. It was $57. It was not intentional. >> Okay. >> Um I asked if I could pay for him. He said no. He said it just he's in a document and I'm going to have to pay a ticket or something. I I just went through this. I can't have another issue because I just have a pending thing going on right now. >> You just went through what? >> I had I got in December, I had an issue with the Target in Bloomingale. >> Okay. Did you get arrested? >> Okay. >> According to store staff, the woman allegedly under scanned about $25 worth of health and beauty products at the selfch checkout. Were you convicted of anything on that? >> What is current address? >> Springdale. >> Yeah. In West Chicago. >> Just make sure I heard you right. >> Correct. Do you by any chance have a receipt of the stuff that she legitimately purchased? >> Yeah, I can read it. If you want to keep yours, I can unless you need that. You need >> Do you want yours? Do you want to keep >> uh Joe, what's the phone number for you? What's this GHPC? >> That was the case down just in case she needed that. >> Oh, okay. Was that the same thing? Was like an under ringing or >> Mhm. >> But that's also pending. >> Mhm. >> Yeah. That was taking items >> not at the register necessarily. Like I had took earrings. >> Okay. Why don't you hold on to that? >> I appreciate it. You know, can you do a print up like this for this receipt, too? They just scan in our system easier than the the heat print or whatever. >> It it'd be like a it'd be different format than that just cuz this there was no transaction for those items. Okay. >> Um, so it' be I'll print up here. I'll show you what it looks like. >> Okay. And then what would the transaction time or I'm sorry, >> 12:55. >> After learning about her history of similar incidents, the officer unfortunately has some bad news to deliver. >> All right, Jill. So, here's the issue. Okay. I contacted my supervisor who said because of the previous incident, I have to take you into custody. So beyond what's in the is these your property here in these Target bags? Anything frozen? Anything like that? >> No. >> Okay. Do you have a purse or any other property with you? >> Not on me. No. >> Okay. Um >> over $25. I have to go in. >> Yep. So what's going to happen is I'm going to bring you down to the police department. I got to take your fingerprints and we get you a court date and then um get you on your way. >> So, it's not a felony amount or anything like that. >> Okay. >> So, um at this point, can you do me a favor? Can you stand up? Put your hands behind your back. >> Can I just walk out with you? If I promise I'm just I'm just gonna walk outside. >> I hear you. >> You can't do it. I know. Can you put them in front? >> I have to put them in the back. >> Do you have anything on you at all in your pockets? >> Yeah, I have my phone. I have my keys and I have my wallet. >> You mind taking that and putting it in one of these bags here? I'm going to have to search you when I get you to the car, too. >> Putting your hand behind your back. Let's do a circle and take a look at the car >> as They review her record. Officers learned the woman has four prior arrests along with a previous conviction for lararseny out here, right? Yeah, that see this right here just for one moment. You see, you have nothing else on you, correct? >> My chapstick might be in my front pocket. I have to remember. >> Okay. You don't have any guns, knives, needles, anything like that? Come on. Heat. Move your arms back just so I can check the waistband. Go ahead and take a seat in the car and sit down first. Watch your head. The encounter ultimately ended with a woman facing a charge of retail theft. 77year-old repeat shoplifter gets caught again. On January 29th, 2026, officers with the St. Charles Police Department responded to a meer after employees reported a suspected shoplifter. Here's what unfolded when officers arrived. >> Oh, not not related at all. >> Right. >> Okay. No, she got it. I don't know. She got it. Okay. So, what happened today? I changed the ticket on some of >> the like the barcode or the Yes. Okay. >> Do you know or what like stuff exactly? Do you Did you bring the tickets with you? >> No, she No, no. Um took it off something else. >> Okay. >> Okay. When you take you talking about the tag there, like the yellow sticker with the price number on. >> Oh, yeah. That's not mine. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> All right. Do you normally do shop at this My Do you Is this a good address for you? >> No, I shop here. Okay. And you still live up. >> Okay. >> I wasn't either. >> I'll hang out. >> Didn't know what you did, so I figured I'd hang out. Extra hand never hurts. >> All that stuff on you. I know you couldn't be cold. >> I don't know. I'm sweating. That's why I'm doing this. I'm trying to I'm trying to air it out. I'm I'm wet from like here down. >> I'm sure you is. I thought you could be cold. >> Oh, it's better a little bit sweating than freezing cuz you never know. >> That's not good because you sweating then you're out in the cold. >> Yeah, >> it's not good. >> No, >> just take a lot of >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> There you go. I I never get too wet where I feel like it's dangerous, but there's always that. It's you can always have too few layers on. I can always lose the sweater if I need it. But right now, >> okay, >> it's just too cold. >> Yeah, >> it is just too cold. And this is a habit. This is a bad habit that I've gotten used to over a day. No. Yeah. Tucking your hands in. That is a bad habit. >> Oh, okay. >> Yeah, that's not a cold thing. That's just like you couldn't be cold. >> Okay. So, for today, are you taking it or is >> Did he touch base with you when he stepped out? Okay. He probably went out to car. Walk me through it while we're here. >> The suspect is later identified as 77year-old Elizabeth Anne. >> I know. >> Have we made previous reports before? >> Gotcha. I just Well, I just wanted I don't I know you've probably talked to people about this. So just that that is multiple incidents rather than one cuz we have had issues not necessarily here but at other businesses where they will hold on to cases until a felony amount is reached which is not not how we can do things. Um so yeah if you've got all that I'll let you kind of uh spell that out for officer Leber when he gets back in because it's going to be his. But um that should be good to go there on that. We'd have to go through and review all the individual I was saying you guys usually have a packet for us of stuff that's got most everything that answers any of the questions we would ask. Yes. >> And I'm getting the UPC's for I don't know this officer. What's his name? >> Leber cooperative throughout the entire process. >> Absolutely. >> Okay. Absolutely. >> And I appreciate that. Thank you very much. >> That helps us. Well, no, seriously, it helps us do what we're doing. >> Yeah. >> And and I appreciate that thought process, too. You know, everybody's allowed to make mistakes. Um, >> that's how we handle them after the fact, you know, and being able to handle with a little bit of grace helps us kind of cuz I can be a voice for you as well. >> Okay. >> And when you know, it's different when I walk in the office and somebody's screaming at me versus apologetic in this way. So, >> getting I'll let her walk through. It sounds like they've got UPC's coming. >> Okay. >> Uh today's in the last like few days or >> Okay. Yep. I'll send you that. >> Just this location. >> Yeah. This location. I don't trespass other Myers. The officer now asks store employees whether they intend to pursue charges. >> Are you guys looking to pursue it criminally? >> How many total times did you say? >> I believe it's five. >> Five other cases. Got >> um Elizabeth, what's your gift number for you? It's a good phone number for you. >> Did you drive yourself here today? >> Yes. >> Car is still out there? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> All right. Um, did you say you'd be able to get the other info for? >> Sure. It' be great. >> Yeah, I'll link that here. >> Thank you. Can somebody explain what's going to happen? Yeah, I'll I'll go over everything with you. >> Yeah, >> she wants you to go live. >> So, don't quote me on it cuz I'm not the one making the final decision on on what happens today. What we do, whether we cite you, release you, charge you criminally, is affected by the value of an individual incident. Being that it's five separate incidences, you'll likely have five separate cases with five separate charges corresponding to the set amounts on any given day. Likely today, you will just end up leaving here. We'll get some information from you u at worst with some charges pending uh if not with just some citations. Okay? Because of the value amount being that it is a habit. Have you ever been arrested for anything like this before? Ever been convicted of anything? This is just first time got a new bad habit. It just kind of kept happening or >> money problems. >> Money. Yeah, I can understand that. >> With a store's decision made, the officer explains to Elizabeth what's coming next. >> Well, I the only reason I asked is that also affects what we can and can't do as well. If you had a history as far as like you've been convicted of this type of thing before, that changes the charge that we have as well. So, like we have several different options. Honestly, it's kind of up to them as they are the victim as to how they want things done, but there are different levels. Um, not very likely that you're going to end up walking out of here in handcuffs, that kind of thing. We do want to make sure that you get home, but we do have to make sure things are documented. We get you to the right courthouse to be able to kind of work through the rest of this on the back end. We get to be the glorified paper pushers today is pretty much what I do 90% of my day. So, um, I will let him walk you through exactly what he's going to do. I'm just giving you kind of the g the general as to how I've had things handled here in the past. Okay. >> Um, because typically for us, um, this is it's considered retail theft or a t it's under that statute is tag swapping. It's a it's a theft of sorts. So, it falls into that category even though it's its own specific category. But, we do have local ordinances that cover it. We also do have criminal charges that cover it. And usually the threshold is higher than $15. Okay. So, but it is still something where you'll likely end up having to go to court. >> So, he will have all of that information for you. Uh if we need to do additional paperwork later, he'll reach out to you and contact you all that. >> Okay. >> Okay. Um are you here alone? Is there any family with you here today? >> I'm alone. >> Okay. As the paperwork is being prepared, the officer continues speaking with Elizabeth in a more relaxed conversation. >> Old burner is like about 10, I think. >> Okay. >> Now, Westy, I'm trying to picture it. What is the actual breed name? >> White. >> Oh, one of those. >> Well, well, there's now the attitude makes sense. >> 20. Sure. Universal carrier mix. Uh, you know, >> all right. >> Bad news. >> Uh-oh. >> Our my supervisor said because of the >> habitualness of it, you do have to come down police station. >> Oh, all right. So everything I explained about the charging amount, it's all the same fence, same everything with that. But because of >> the trend, >> so what we'll do is she purchased all >> I can put in your car for you >> or we can even go >> I >> So ultimately what we could do is we could put the food in your car, do the paperwork, and then I can give you a ride back and you'll go. >> All it changes is that we have to formally document pictures and photo fingerprints. That's the change of things. I was fingerprinted a long time ago. >> It's different. We have to send them with each individual one, but that would be probably the easiest bet if you're okay with us putting it in your car. I know you said you have ice cream melting. There's not really anything I can do about that. >> It's cold enough it'll refreeze in the car. >> Yeah. >> So, that would probably be the easiest. That way, your stuff's here. It's secure. And then we'll take you over, get it done, and then I can give you a ride back, and then you're good to go home from there. But, >> okay. >> Yeah. >> Whatever. There's nothing left. I can do about it. Right. >> Correct. >> Do you have anything value worried about in the vehicle or anything? >> Nothing that can wait like 20 30 minutes. >> 20 30 minutes. >> Yep. It should be quick. We'll do our best to get you in and out. It's the same kind of paperwork. We just have to do it there. Before leaving the scene, officers help Elizabeth load the merchandise she paid for into her vehicle before escorting her to the patrol car. >> Okay. Can I call my husband? >> We can make phone calls from the PD. The longer we stay here, the longer it delays your paperwork, though. >> Oh, >> once we get there, we can make whatever phone calls you want. >> Give you your paperwork and we'll drive you back here. It's not like you're spending You're not going to the county jail or anything. >> No. Yeah. None of that. >> You're going >> St. Charles Police Department >> just up the street. >> 64. >> Yeah. We'll just go over to yours. It's easier. And then I'll meet you in there. We'll rocket it out. >> Then I can call him from your >> Yeah. Yeah. You can make whatever phone call. >> I want to lock this. >> The less you bring the better. So if you want to leave all that, you can. >> Okay. >> I I Well, >> bring the purse at least. But your your your cup. >> I'd leave your mug. >> I'd leave your mug. >> Do you have anything in your pockets or on your person you want to leave here? >> I would. >> No weapons. No. >> I would say take anything out of your pockets and put it into your purse. The less that's on you, the less we have to check. >> Yep. >> And then we can just keep everything together. >> Okay. Yeah. Let me empty my purse then. Unless it's on my purse. No, you don't have to empty your purse. I just meant anything in your pockets. Yeah, >> cuz we would have to check your pockets before you go in the squad car. The less that's in your pockets, the better. >> I don't want you to have to tear your purse up. Clean it. >> Okay. >> All right. Let you lock it up. and we will hopefully be back here as quickly as we can. >> Elizabeth was later charged with retail theft. According to investigators, she allegedly stole a combined total of $149 across four separate incidents. Man makes a run for it and instantly regrets it. On June 29th, 2024, officers in New Jersey responded to a Neiman Marcus after reports that a man allegedly attempted to leave with more than $1,000 worth of unpaid merchandise. Here's what happened when they caught up with the suspect. >> I'm over here. >> These were you? >> No, no, no. >> That's another one. >> No, no, no. Who's this? >> No. No. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We sign a plane for sure. >> Okay. >> Who's that guy? >> That's another guy. >> Suspect. >> They got a trunk full of >> You want to take him back? cop. >> If I cough, he's coming. >> Just when officers think the situation is under control, the man decides to make one more questionable move. >> We have one suspect stopped, another one in a vehicle. >> Come over here. >> He's running back towards him. Going past the bus stop along road description of the one plane. 104 by 9 Bravo. What's >> wrong with you? You What's wrong with you? You get in the car. Get in the car. You get in the car now. Now I got hit with a looting now. Get your phone. >> All right. Talk to me. >> We'll be in the office. >> Thank you. >> So, >> so this guy came to us twice. Stoked. >> Yeah. And we're dumping the condos. >> Dump the merchandise. >> They came back just now. >> Yeah. I got four. If they're driving by the bus stop, just got to look left. I got them. >> So, how many? >> Six models. >> Six. Um, six models. >> Wait. I'm done with this. >> You done with this? >> That's a good run. >> I knew you were coming. >> You guys did all the work. >> I don't know. We'll get a value. >> Okay. Six bottles of fragrances. >> So he's uh >> he's a main actor. >> All right. So he's the main guy. What what did he take? >> Six bottles of fragrances. We recovered. >> Recovered. >> He just took off. >> He just took off on us. >> We saw one of the citizens here helped us. >> Store employees later determined the total value of the perfume the man allegedly attempted to steal was approximately $1,290. Just one the other vehicle. I don't have a maker model. >> Okay. >> Six bottles of fragrance. What was the dollar amount? Give me >> I would say 300 approximately per bottle. So 1,800 be higher. >> This guy's got some on him, man. >> What's up, man? >> So what do you do? He selected. >> Yeah. >> Concealed. So it came into the mall entrance. >> What did he take the B? And then this might sound relevant to you, but I got to establish this in my report. >> He came to he came into the mall entrance, >> went straight to uh lower level, >> went straight to a fragrance table, >> with live product. Um it's not testers or anything. They're all packaged live >> and just started concealing inside a >> I think a brown bag. >> Burberry bag. >> Burberry shopping bag. >> And then we read out mall one, exited the store. We confronted him >> when he dumped the >> We grabbed a bag from him. >> Okay. >> In the mall. >> Yeah. >> And then he took off. >> Okay. >> And so the chase began >> and I got him by a eight a Bravo. >> You got him there and he took off. >> What's your first name? >> You made reports to us before. I know your face. I just don't know. >> Yeah, of course. >> Uh just I I'm going to look you up, but what's your date of birth? All right. So, you recovered all the merchandise. What type of perfume was it? >> An initial. It's uh N I N I'm sorry. N I >> I'm sorry. I N I >> I mean uh it's both. It's by It's uh unisex. >> Unisex. that I can get enough. >> Okay. >> So, um >> approximately. >> So, you're you want to sign for the the theft, the shoplifting? >> I'm going to charge him with the eluding. >> Yep. >> Uh okay. >> With the suspect detained, officers begin their investigation, making it clear they won't be taking any chances after his earlier actions. >> So, the same thing, just we don't have uh anybody.
