Parenthood is about setting an example, but in these cases, the example couldn't have been worse. Here are five cases when bad parents use their kids to steal. Number five, woman brought a stroller into the store, but it's not for a baby. Coming up in our first case, officers with the Sukakus Police Department respond to a Walmart where loss prevention spotted a woman pushing a stroller. But instead of a child, the staff watched her loaded up with stolen merchandise. Watch what happens when she reaches the exit. What? Do you understand what you're saying or no? Man, >> what >> you have to go to uh the office right now. Okay. >> I thought that once I get the stuff >> that I don't have to at the office. I thought that I'm in the street. Understand what I'm saying? I'm pregnant. I have no food. I was hungry. You know what I'm saying? >> You should be easy with us. All right. So, just come with us. >> Okay. to the office. They can go with you guys. Okay. Okay. Tell us your meal. She argues that she never technically left the store, so it doesn't count as shoplifting. But the officers are quick to explain that passing all points of sale with unpaid items is enough to file charges. >> I didn't go outside with the stuff. It's different, >> man. You passed all points of >> Yeah, I didn't go outside with the stuff and I gave them the stuff. >> This is my first and and please let go my my baby, >> man. But I'm telling you right now, step inside the office with us. All right. We're trying to make this easy as possible. Guess what? You're saying I did not go outside and all that. >> I did not go. At least you should try to help me with food or something like, "Okay, you're hungry. Let me help you with something." But no, you want to try to threaten me to try to get me left out or what? I didn't go outside with the stuff. At least you should try to help me with some cup of something. >> Huh? >> Where were you going to go? >> What do you mean? On the streets? >> So, you're going to walk outside the store with the stuff? >> Well, he stopped me before. >> Wait, what's the door? >> He stopped me before. Do you have your ID yourself on you? >> Yeah. >> No, you made the ID. >> You have an ID. >> All right. Thanks. >> You're welcome. >> We We'll get We'll help you out, too. >> We got to do our job and then we'll help me out. >> We'll get We'll get you the help, but we need to get your >> We'll help you get Nobody's taking us a dollar to give me our social services for you, but we need to get your information. There's no question about what happened. She hid items and tried to leave without paying. But despite handing everything back and providing her info, she thinks that's all it takes to avoid consequences. >> That's what I said. >> Like we we're going to be hungry. You know what I'm saying? >> If you do end up coming with us, >> what do you mean going with us? Like again like again like I'm being honest with you like if you do have to end up like you know >> well you see I mean I know I know all my rights >> she she has her phone. >> I got serious. >> Wait for what? >> You can't go anywhere yet. >> Don't put your phone on the phone on the phone, please. >> Well, you can't go anywhere yet. >> Why not? I already I already give you all the information. All you want. >> For what do you want? I give you all the information. >> I'm not relaxed. I'm hungry. How can you tell me to relax, >> man? Like I said, just be more profitable with >> For what? >> Again, we're just checking to see how >> Listen, they got all the food already. You got my information. What else you want? Excuse me. >> Excuse me. >> Excuse me. Investigation. Excuse me. >> Investigation for what? >> For child trafficking. So what we will do for you handcuffs right now because you >> For what? You can't do that. >> You're being detained. You can >> No, you can't. For what? >> So now you want to get We'll just take >> For what? >> Traveling. >> Oh wow. >> We're invest. That's fine. >> Oh wow. >> We're investigating. So if you want All right. Please. All right. >> Now that it's time for cuffs, she starts pushing back. and her attitude is enough to make things harder for everyone involved. >> I know, but you still got to find a total amount. >> So why they got the meat back? Well, they went a total amount for I got paid. They got the money back. >> But the intent, man, that's >> all right. So the intent why they got the meat back. >> Yeah, but you were depriving the store. Listen, on the TV didn't say that. Under the TV said if you get the meat out when they get when you get arrested, whatever mind you took out there out there, that's the amount you got to do in jail, whatever. I don't know about >> or pay your fine or whatever. >> Man, I'm not sure if you understand like how it works. So, the thing is that if you were like before the register, it would have been fine. >> But you you passed all points. >> Well, that's their problem. They let me pass. employees. >> They're troublemakers. >> Employees can't we get >> Oh, please. >> I'm just like if they can stop me in case >> before I came out that door. That's their problem. >> It's not how it works, man. I'm just advis I'm just >> I'm not dumb. >> You're probably just misunderstanding. >> I know about I know about the rules. I know about what's illegal and not illegal. I know it's illegal what I did, but I'm hungry. I'm good again. I'm hungry. >> While store staff work on an itemized list of everything she tried to steal, officers outside are still struggling to get her to cooperate. >> Nobody gives you a hand. >> We're just doing it with a >> Nobody gives you a hand. I asked you for help. I asked them if they can give me a little bit of that food that they throw away when they, you know, before they throw away. You think they say, "Yeah, don't give a about nobody. against their policy. >> No, they could do that >> cuz if you had a job and somebody was coming, >> you know, you talk too much. I see sometimes on TV cops, they be helping people out. >> They be they don't talk too much. They don't talk a lot. They just help people. Oh, well, was you hungry or whatever? And they help with some food. All you want to do is dying to tell you your mom so y can get me arrested cuz y >> I already do. >> Y people out. Y don't help people. If y'all be helping people out for real for real. >> We we mean we should we won't be doing this. >> Listen, man. I told you. Look, just being like real honest with me. >> For real. For real. You want to hear me out? >> I want to hear you out. But I'm going still give you the same offer. Okay. Listen. What do you want to pay attention? See, after giving her every chance to cooperate. Officers finally move in to put her in handcuffs and escort her out. Listen, you know, >> what do you mean? Let's go. Don't tell me no. >> No, don't tell me no. >> I am your child. Let's go. I'm just ladies. I am not your child. >> All right. Thank you for rolling up the sleeve. All right. >> Make sure you roll my um um you be usually like this. All right. It's going to be like a five minute drive. Wait. >> Yeah, we're going to take it. So, we get to take care of her. All right. It's not going to go missing or anything. We just got She's just going to search her, right? Just part of the procedure. Okay. Why you search me for and there food in my pocket? >> You're under arrest. >> Why is there no food in my pocket? >> I got >> Okay, that's fine. >> Don't search me then. >> I I will. >> Right. You gave me arrested for food, not something that you ain't got to fight to search me. >> Okay, I do have the right. >> You don't got the right to search me. Don't touch me, though. Don't touch me. >> You You want me to search you then? >> Don't touch me. That waffle pack. We're just searching if you have any >> any what type of meaning like if you have any possession of weapons that could possibly hurt you or else. Do you have any whatever? >> No. That's why you had to ask. >> After being read her Miranda rightites, 36year-old Yolanda Garcia is taken to the cruiser for transport. She was the one that denied me the food. >> Man, I told you if you were going to go under with us, I would have come to get you, man. I told you that. Okay. Again, you're being cooperative with us and but how does this fold up >> guy? Look here. >> That folded >> and then and then roll that up and then roll this up down. >> Roll it down. Okay. Go like this. >> Yeah. All the way down. >> And then take the point the point from the bottom. The bottom. Yeah. >> Yeah. All right. Pop your trunk. >> All right. It's going to be like a 5minute drive to the headquarters. You you ever been to see caucus or not? >> Okay. So, your your property is going to be with us. We're going to take you back inside the headquarters and all that. We'll hold on to it. Okay. Nothing's going to get lost. >> Yolanda and her accomplice, 32-year-old Roger Valenuela, were both charged with shoplifting and conspiracy to commit shoplifting. They were issued complaint warrants and transported to Hudson County Jail without further incident. Number four, mom's family trip to Universal becomes unforgettable for all the wrong reasons. This next case takes us to Universal Studios where officers were called after a woman allegedly shoplifted from the Hello Kitty store while touring with her family. Here's what officers walked into inside the security office. >> I saw her with the same t-shirt walking saw her walking special. >> Yeah. all the easy stuff. I know what he got, but everything else he just came with bags, so I don't know what. >> Okay. >> So, if you want to communicate with him to get those receipts, you can send those receipts or >> so at this point based on what we observed from you, what we observed from my >> without a receipt, we're going to suspect everything here is not >> So, I mean, you can ask him about that because that alone. >> Okay. So, if you can do me a favor just for you just to cross you off the list. What's in your possession on yourself? Not anything on my >> So, can I get you two extra pockets? I see some stuff in the back pockets. >> Back pockets. Front pockets. Can you those out for me? Cool. That's fine. >> We like your children to go >> right now. That way. >> Yeah. Uh, are you guys from Florida? >> No, we're Antonio. >> Uh, Texas? >> Yes. >> You have an ID with you? >> Yeah, they took it from me. >> Oh, they have it? Okay. Can I get her ID? Can I get her ID? >> Oh, yes. >> This is just recording. >> Are you going to be okay? >> Yo, >> my dog. That's it. >> What? >> Okay. He sent somebody over to escort me back. They should be there on their way. I have all these for things I did buy. But like a backpack. >> Yeah. Yeah. Go back to Are they in a van? A golf cart? >> Oh, it should be a van. >> There should be a van, right? >> All right. He's going to double check now. If you sit by that, >> never been in life. I ain't never been in trouble in 36 years. >> Terrible. Thank you. >> No, I know. I know. I know. But the thing is everything on my shoulder, I've been here eating with the kids over here getting drinks. I come back, he's like, "Oh, look what I bought. Look what I bought." I don't know what he bought what he didn't. I'm not going to sit here and argue with nobody. The amount of merchandise she tried to steal was staggering. The stroller, which should have carried her child, was overflowing with stolen goods instead. >> Who was actually stealing? >> They caught her, but >> yeah, he's like taking the machine pretty much for everything. He was drunk and he didn't. >> He was walking away from the group. >> Yeah, they had the tags and everything. I don't know what they're going to do. >> Yep. Yeah. Every single one of these hoodies still has >> hang tag. >> How much? >> Can you just show me the hang tag that you would take off? >> Yeah. >> Not everything. >> I got the party requesting. >> That's what he was carrying, right? >> This um Yeah, one of these. >> That's the one that >> And then this is the one that that that way he observe and take out and temp. >> And then where were those keychains took out of her bag? >> That way I can just cut and paste. There's a couple here and there a few right here. >> Yeah, those were all the ones that I need. Is that it? >> Yeah. Yeah. And then like this was the other bag that >> Dobby. >> Yeah. [ __ ] shirt on. He doesn't know how much money, bro. >> How much? >> With more than $1,000 in stolen goods, park employees begin drafting a detailed list. Meanwhile, officers head back to the suspect for formal questioning. >> Can you please find them? So, at least half the step for >> Is that your husband? >> Yeah. >> Does he have any receipts? >> He's looking right now. So, I just threw him away, but >> All right. If she if she if he wants to get with the the security still out there with the husband? >> Uh, they they could be. If not, when we go out there later, we'll >> So, he's apparently looking for receipts. I just want to pay for a backpack. So, he's going to find the receipts. Whatever, babe. Whatever. I'm already here taking everything for you. So, thanks. >> All right. I'm just going to read you something because you're detained. >> All right. Bye. >> All right. I'm just going to read you something because you're detained. Understand you're not under arrest. I just in order to protect your constitutional rights after I do this. Okay. Trying to figure out what's going on. >> I just need a verbal yes or no after each question that I read you. Okay. You have the right to remain silent. I do understand. >> Yes. >> You came here today with your Is that your husband? I don't know. >> It's my kids, Dad. >> Okay. How long you guys in the park for? It's our first night and I got a competition Saturday and Sunday. >> Okay. About how long you guys here? >> Till Tuesday. >> So, I'm sorry. How many days? >> Till Tuesday. We leave Tuesday morning at 6:00. >> So, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday. So, 5 days you guys. No problem. >> Um, so then you guys went into is it a Hello Kitty store over here and did your shopping? That's where I got the backpack to come across the street for and that's where everything. >> Okay. So, why did you take the backpack out? >> I should have I should have left it in there. I came to get her card out of her little Wolverine um fanny pack. >> Okay. So, >> my daughter was in the store. She said my fanny pack's there. I just got it. Went across the street. >> So, who's with the stroller? >> My husband was supposed to make the stroller. My 15-year-old used the restroom. So, I got that. He's gone. And my 15-year-old standing there with our stroller. >> Okay. And then so you left the store with the backpack to get >> her card back. >> She insists she had the money, or rather that her daughter did. According to her, the plan was for the daughter to pay, but she left for another store before they could check out. It's a story that doesn't quite add up, even for the officers. >> For her backpack, >> where was your purse at? Your your coach purse? >> That was on me. >> Okay. So that has money in it. Why wouldn't you pay for it? >> Because she's spending her own money. She's had water bottle sales, chocolate sales. She wants to spend her money. >> That's our money for competition. I owe the coach $1,000 when we get there. >> Okay. Wait. >> So I have plenty of money to buy whatever. That's the That's not That's why I'm pissed off right now because I have them. >> So then Okay. So you left. Does your daughter have a phone? >> Oh, yes. >> Okay. And you had a phone. >> So why wouldn't you call your daughter to come into the store? >> My daughter was with me. She was with me in >> So why wouldn't she go out to get her money? >> My dad walk out of the store. So stay right here by the door when she was standing by the door as she watched me look for everything. I'm talking to my kid about where their dad is when they get there because he's not there. So as I'm having the conversation with the backpack, then they come up to me. >> This is not >> She was buying more stuff. She was holding more stuff in the store that she was going to purchase, too. So, it wasn't just the fact that she was going to buy it. >> Why? So, the the distance of what, maybe 10 ft, you didn't feel comfortable enough leaving your daughter in the store? >> No, she stayed in the store. >> Well, that's what I'm saying. I'm sorry. You didn't feel comfortable enough to let her go to the stroller where your older son was at? >> No. I wanted to make sure all my kids I did not I didn't see him there. That's why I walked across cuz it was only my four-year-old, my three-year-old, and my 15-year-old son. So, I didn't see him. Do you ever leave Do you ever leave your daughter alone with your children? >> No, my 15-year-old. Yes. >> Okay. So, >> if he was with my babies. >> Okay. But if you saw him with the stroller, like you just said, he was standing there in the stroller with the babies, then why would you feel comfortable >> letting your daughter walk to the stroller to get >> I don't know. >> I I'm just trying to understand then cross get her thing, come back, buy all the stuff she wanted. So it's like you just slipped up and you just forgot to put the >> on top of everything, additional items from other stores inside the park remain unaccounted for. >> All right. So tell me about all the other property that was on the stroll. >> Like I said, everything was there. I've been into Moles. I went into Crusted Burger. I ordered my son this. My husband's by myself with my daughter. So what he did I >> Did you buy that today? >> They had the receipt for this. >> Yeah. But did you buy that today? Yes. >> Okay. So, you bought that today. The receipt for that is in your bag. >> No, they already showed it. They took it out. >> Yeah, I know. Cuz I found it in your bag. Okay. >> Um, why wouldn't the receipts for the other merchandise be in your bag? >> This is all I bought. >> Okay. So, where did the otherise men? I don't know. My husband was by himself. >> Okay. But you're in possession of the stroller. >> I walked Okay. My husband was standing with the stroller with all my kids. I walked across the thing looking for my husband that had a stroller and he was gone. That's why I told my oldest son, "Where's he at?" >> I'm not asking about the backpack anymore. I'm asking about all the other merchandise that was found in the stroller. >> I don't know. >> So that just you were never with your husband in any other store that >> So why why are there any receipts for that? >> There might be. He said the everything ET he has receipts for which he's looking for right now. But he said that he took two backpacks is what he told me. I'm right now. All I did was take two backpacks. >> Okay. Um, do you guys share a bank account? >> No. Time's over. >> So, you don't have any transactions on your card from today paying for anything? >> No. On my rapid card, but from the hotel, not here. >> Okay. >> Everything's cash cuz I have a bunch of cash. >> [applause] >> And >> how much money did he bring with him today? >> How much did he bring with him today? Thousand maybe. >> $1,000. >> In cash or card? >> Cash. >> So every time he went into a store, you guys What? What did you do? >> What did he do? What did I do? >> What did you do? >> Walk my kids around and see what they wanted. We only been to two stores. She seems sure of her story, but she's unaware that cameras caught everything and that employees can easily contradict her claims. >> Okay. So, you were So, like you said, none of the cameras of the stores will show you with him at any point in the store. >> Okay. Um, >> I mean, that's a lot of merchandise and a lot of that stuff has the security tag still on it. Did you not think that was weird why it had security? >> I didn't look at anything. He bought He was like all excited. I bought this for so and so. I bought this for so you find it weird that >> so I thought that he had money. He bought it. >> Did you find it weird? >> So I didn't think anything of it at all. >> Did you find it weird that he brought the merchandise to you not in bags? >> They were in bags. >> Well, when we were standing out here at the restroom, he walked up and none of the merchandise he had in his hand was in bags. >> When he walked up, I didn't see what he walked up, but every other time he's walked up to me, he has had bags. Okay. >> So, real quick, just to kind of hear where I'm going, um, you saw her in the stroller walk in with the stroller and all those bags. >> No, no, the stroller was over at the restrooms when I first clocked her. I was walking up uh from uh north deeper into the park approaching the restrooms and the I was in the street approaching restroom on my left. >> You saw her take from the storm was that bank? >> Yes. So, what I saw is I saw her with the stroller. I saw her lead the stroller across the street, walk from the stroller into the store. Since I had observed there was a lot of merchandise on the stroller, I thought I'd walk just walk into the store as well, just to observe what she did. I observed her approach the display for the backpack. I observed her sling the back over pack over her right shoulder. I observed her exit the store without paying and go directly back to the stroller. When she was at the stroller, she took possession of it, tried to bag up the backpack that she had not paid for in a bag that was hanging from the stroller. After speaking with store staff, the officer returns to the suspect to confront her with what he's just learned. >> Um, so when you went, so you said you you left the store, you walked over to the restrooms um to check on your kids. >> Well, not to the restroom, to my stroller. >> But by the restroom, right? So you walked over there um and you to check on the kids, right? >> Well, to get the card out of my my her card out of her battery pack that was on there. Oh, that's right. Yeah. >> Then when I saw the dad was missing, I'm like more focused on where why do you need my kids and where? >> So why did you put the backpack inside the merchandise bag? >> I sat it on top. Look, it was sitting on top. I had not put it anywhere. >> I was more worried about why my kids were not being watched by my husband. Yes. My 15-year-old can't handle two little babies that long. >> Okay. So >> for him to tell my son, I'm going to the restroom and then leave. It's wrong. >> So the OP from security is saying that you were trying to put it into the merchandise bag. I had it on top. Like I said, the bag was open. I put it on top. I'm talking to my son like, "Where's your dad?" Blah, blah, blah. Left my daughter in the Hello Kitty store before I start to go back in there with her. >> Why did you set the backpack on top? >> I don't know. I shouldn't have. It was just like a in like a fast. Like I said, I've never stoled in an apple in my >> So the So the bag the bag was open and you put the bag on top. >> It wasn't open. It was on the thing. I sat it on top the bag. So the bags are closed hanging over and I sat it right there. >> So you basically rested the Hello Kitty backpack on top of the bag >> like that. >> It was a Hello Kitty bag. It was a ET backpack. >> Oh, the ET whatever the backpack was cuz there's another Hello Kitty one in there. So the bag is closed hanging on the stroller and you put the backpack on top. >> Yeah. I sit like this. Um we're going to stuff telling my son where's dad? He's like I don't know. He's not in the restroom. We took off and I'm like at that point I'm more worried about where he is. I wasn't going to walk. I think two more minutes till I see me walk right back inside cuz that's how I am. I've never stole anything in my whole life. Let me go over. >> She's still clinging to her story. But at this point, the staff's statement and clear video evidence leave little room for doubt. >> I was getting the same sense that maybe he was doing more than stealing, but I observed her steal. >> I still think she she I think she's she's a part of it because she >> she still wanted Yeah. while he was making stuff. >> Because I copy >> it wouldn't be in the report because they only stopped the line. >> Yeah. So, how does that work? Are you guys going to press because he didn't observe him? >> That's the problem. >> So, he would only be able to do it on what the person he observed. affair set up. >> This time you're already under arrest. >> Are you serious? >> My daughter's competition. >> Put your hands together like you're praying. Take your brain. Take your palms together. >> Can you leave my property with my husband? >> So, you would have something I didn't do. >> Uh, well, I mean, you did walk out of the store without paying for merchandise. bags I can pay for that I have money. >> Well, that's the problem, ma'am, is that after the fact, after the crime's committed, everybody wants to uh to, you know, rethink their initial decision. >> I missed my daughter's competition. >> Well, you'll have a you'll have a bond. So, um if you have the money, then you can bond out. If not, then your husband, we're going to give all of the property that belongs to you to him. Is that okay? That way doesn't get lost. >> And his toy and my son's toy. >> Sure. You can just have a seat back there. >> Um, >> just before she's removed from the property, the officer lets her know she's no longer welcome at the park for the next 12 months. >> Okay. You are going to be trespassed from Universal for a year means you cannot come back as far as refunding whatever you had left. That's going to be between you and Universal. Okay. I have nothing to do with that. It's a civil matter, but you cannot return to any universal property until April 28th of 2024. If you do, you're subject to arrest. >> Yeah. All that stuff. is asking for the cash out of her bag. >> Yeah, I'm going to give all the cool. >> I'm going to give everything. >> And then this has been paid for reserved with receipt. So, I'm going to get that. Perfect. Thank you. That's >> all right. All of her property is going to you. This is paid for with the receipt. So, you can have custody of that. She's going to go No, she's going to go to the I have six kids. So you're going to take this video to the orange jail. Write down the address. >> I don't know how. Okay. >> Actually, you uh I think we're so well that way you can you know his number. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So a security unit is coming over right now with a guest that had a 48 ID. Since we're busy here, they're just going to walk him here so we can do the 6 and paperwork here and then we'll just >> I don't need my phone in his bed anyways. >> You need the number? Oh, >> I'm going to turn everything over to him. >> Cool. >> All right. All that stuff. Her phone's dead. I know. One question. >> What? I paid for >> No, it's too late for that. She's going. >> Thank you. I've never been in an so weird. >> I'm just embarrassing my kid. >> Officers recover $1,135.75 worth of unpaid items, many with security tags still intact. And at this point, there's only one place left to go. any unit. >> So, are they going to be able to stay or they're >> Yeah, they haven't been escorted out as far as I know. >> And for all the secret, my kids can't come back like with their grandparents. >> Uh, no, no, yours is You're the only one that's been trespassing. >> I know, but my kids can come back with their grandma tomorrow with their kids, right? >> Yeah. As far as I know, they have not tresmass your kids. >> Okay. I want to make sure my kids can come. >> Sorry. Even if you have a little bit of cuz there's a felony once you get there if you see anything in there. >> Am I going to get in trouble with that? >> No, I'm not charging. I'm taking it instruction. But I just >> Once you get to the jail, they put you in a body scanner. If there's anything underwear, >> where's the lighter? We need to take the lighter out. >> That's your ticket? >> No, that's for our pictures to go pay for. And we just left. >> You heard money. Do you want to leave the money to your husband or >> I think they already know. >> Thank you, bro. I appreciate it. I'm going to start typing and get knocked out. >> What started as a day at the park ended with a woman facing grand theft charges, a year-long ban from Universal, and her entire family being escorted out of the premises. Number three, officers remind a woman that being a parent doesn't erase criminal charges. On April 2nd, 2024, Hoboken police were dispatched to a shop right after loss prevention reported a woman attempting to leave without paying for the items in her cart. Here's what officers walked into. >> Hello. How you doing? >> Hi, how are you guys? >> My name is Pierre Prevention. >> Okay. >> It's officer Lombardo. Officer Gonzalez. Just let you know everything being recorded. >> She tried to put stuff bagging stuff. >> Mhm. >> And then he went to work out self check out. He only pay for a few items. >> A few. Okay. >> Mhm. >> And then he didn't pay for all of this. >> So those are the unpaid items. >> Paid items. >> And also Mr. Gand. >> Yeah. She's a poison chop right and metroplaz did exactly the same thing. >> Okay. >> So >> do you have any ID? >> No ID >> ID phone. >> ID. >> Do you have it though or >> she Yeah, it's on her phone. >> It's on her phone. >> She said she's in um You live in Jersey City now. You said, right? >> Yeah. And then she has a her social says be updated. >> No, I'm I'm going copy that down. >> Okay. >> You want to write that or you want me? >> Yeah, I got it. >> All right. >> You can look at me all you want. You should have thought of what you said. [snorts] >> Do not do not come. In the door is a face recognition. As soon as you walk at the door, we going to see, >> right? >> And what is she filling out right here? >> So, we were just taking down her information because she needs to sign the trespassing. No. >> So, you're informing her that she's no longer >> no longer any of our shop rights. >> Any Okay. >> Yeah. So, Jose City. >> Right. Right. Right. >> All around. >> With clear footage and eyewitness accounts backing it up, officers [music] turn back to the woman for more answers. >> So, >> you got your phone number here, right? >> Yeah, it's everything else is on file. I just needed that is the main thing. You can put me out. So, I'm trying to figure out what the the stuff that she did purchase it if she bring in >> or >> Well, you said you said it's it's for your family. >> No, this is for Instaart. >> So, the upstairs in the in the in the conference room. >> It's for a customer for Instacart. >> So, you were working for Instacart. Those items were for Instacart. Instacart customer. >> Yeah. >> So, we have to reach out to Instacart customer to be her. So she would have to reach out and tell her >> Yes. Can you do that? Reach out to Instacart >> stating that there's an incident. >> Yeah. You don't have to tell them what the incident was. Just let them know something came up. There was an incident that you're unable to complete the the delivery >> so that we don't just leave this person's groceries here that, you know, and then they're they don't know what's going on. >> Are you sure? Don't lie to them. They're going to find out. >> What? >> Tell the truth. >> But is the car? So, I'm trying to work with you because if it's your groceries, I'm trying to figure out if they're going to come with us because we could do this. It'll be quick. Let me see. >> Okay. So, call call Instacart customer service. >> I can I can just send them a message. >> That's fine. Everyone's going to do it. Whatever is whatever. >> Oh, I want to know if we went to the police station. We are going to be I'm going to stay there because I have my daughter. She mentions needing to pick up her daughter, but the officers already know that won't be happening today. The consequences are just getting started. >> Who's with your daughter right now? >> She's at the daycare. >> For how long? >> 400 p.m. >> 400 p.m. You won't be And you should not be at police headquarters. We have a supervisor actually just came up. >> Let me see if I >> just called out on scene. So, let me go get Yeah. Oh, now it's like you're here. >> No, I don't see it. >> New York, man. 20. >> I'm trying to see if he's not here. >> You should see what my mouth looks like. >> He's probably insisting. No, he he said he he just came on the scene. >> He's crazy. >> Oh, yeah. I know. >> This is my second day. >> Second. >> Yesterday, >> right? >> I think she got warmed. We're trying to see the questions she's asking. We got to got to make sure we get the right answers. A supervisor arrives and the primary officer checks in with him about how to handle the situation, especially with a woman insisting she needs to pick up her daughter by 400 p.m. But now she's asking about her daughter that she can't see till 400 p.m. and we're trying to figure out where's the daughter. She's in the daycare. >> All right. So that that's not a gray area in terms of shoplifting. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> That's it's an area that we'd have to cover for arresty dependence, >> right? That's why. >> Okay. So we need to figure out one if are we are we charging her? They they want to pursue >> the trespass. >> All right. So then let's we we get a we place her under arrest. Is it a female? >> Female. >> All right. place him under the rest. We'll bring her up. Uh we'll get an uh a uh I guess whatever the list of stuff that they took. >> Yeah, we got a copy of that. We should have a >> All right. So, what we waiting on then? >> I guess there's one more question. I think she paid for it. >> Instaart. She paid for items. She was doing uh an Instacart delivery. >> Okay. >> So, she's just contacting an Instaart. >> All right. So, what what does Shopright want to do? Do they want to sign a complaint? >> Yeah. They No restitution. So, she's going to be Yeah, let's let's do that. Come on. The clock is ticking. >> We were just trying to figure out what the daughter she say. >> Yeah, that's that falls that falls under arresty dependence. We'll give her the opportunity to do all that. >> Okay. >> I don't think sticking, right? >> Yeah. >> Well, we're going to find out. The stolen merchandise adds up to $136.12. That's all the officers need to move forward with the arrest. >> Oh, thank you. Receipt of the she. >> Yeah. So, she has a copy of it. We just need the card as well. >> The item she paid for. I I didn't take the actual I took a a photo of that. >> All right. So, we have cuz I gave you guys the 8184 receipt. I need that receipt. Oh, it's up there. Yeah. Pia, can you get that one for me? You want to come out? >> Jaden, make sure you get this card as well before you leave. Okay. Uh, can we go out that way? I'm not even sure. Check out >> what 400 America. Down 51. Just watch your head going in. All right. >> It's not going to get any better. >> Uh, Frank, >> bring the seat belt over, please. Yep. >> Okay. Officers confirm the suspect's identity as 27-year-old Jamil Amaduseni and before heading to the station, the officer explains to her what happens next. >> That card that they have, that is your card, correct? >> All the way around. >> The credit card? >> Yeah, this is for >> Is it yours? >> Yes. >> Okay, that's it. Cuz we want to make sure they don't keep it. >> Okay. And [clears throat] I need the receipt for the things. >> Yes, we got we're getting the receipt as well. You'll get all that. Okay. Okay. Now, my my biggest question to you now is where is your first of all, how old is your daughter? >> She's two years. >> She's two years old. And what daycare is she in? >> She is in Jersey City. >> Jersey City. Do So, you have the information from the Jersey City. Okay. So, what we're going to try to do is get you in and out as quick as possible. But what time does she get done? >> 4:00. We have more than enough time to figure that out to where you can go get her yourself. >> Okay. But if something we run into an issue where you're not going to be able to get there by four o'clock, do you have somebody else that can pick her up? >> No, but I will thinking about it. >> I I'm sorry. >> No, I will take because I am not with her father. I don't want he I don't want to hurt that he >> No, totally understand. But at this point, uh we're concerned for your daughter. So if the father is a phone call away, >> you can call someone. >> You can call someone. >> Yes. >> Okay. That's all. As long as you give permission to that person and if that person is is an adult, is that person an adult? >> No, I have to call the the the the school to say someone will come and give the information. >> Well, yeah. So, so you're going to give permission from that person to go do that. You have to let the school know that they're going to pick cuz they won't just release it to anybody. >> Yes, >> but we need to make sure that the person that you're sending is 18 or older. >> No, he is older than me. >> Okay. And how old are you? >> I am 28. >> Okay. So, he's older than you. So, you you'll be able to call him and say, "Whoever's running the daycare, hey, I'm going to have somebody come pick up my daughter. I'm giving permission." Uh, and then whatever you got to work out with with them, but hopefully that doesn't have to happen because we'll get you in and out. >> Thank you. >> Okay. >> J was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing for shoplifting and was later released with a summon. It was also later revealed that this isn't her first time getting arrested for shoplifting. Number two, women worked together to steal but turned on each other when police showed up. On September 24th, 2024, officers responded to an active retail theft at a local Walgreens. According to staff, there were two women involved, both of whom ran the moment the police arrived. However, the officers were close behind. Here's what came next. Roll over. Roll over. Roll over. Roll over. Roll over. Roll over. Hands behind your back. Hands behind your back. Hands behind your back. >> Yeah. >> Stuck your hand right there. >> Yeah. I got you. >> Where's your partner at? >> You got no weapons on you that's going to stab me, anything like that? Oh, I don't have any weapons. >> All right, I'm going to roll you over toward me. Okay, ready? 1 2 3. There you go. Let's get this lay out that way. Like this. There you go. >> I got you. >> I don't have any um weapons. >> All right. Anything like that? >> You have any ID on you? Anything like that at all? >> On my phone? >> On your phone? All right. That's your phone over here in the green. >> All right. I'm going put this over here so we don't lose it. All right. >> Pull my ID up. >> No, I got you. Don't worry. Don't touch it. >> First name. >> You know what's going on right now? No, >> she said something about bag of chips. >> I went out here to go find who they talking about for the bag of chips. I asked her how much it was. >> All right. Well, what was it? What was it exactly? >> Huh? >> What is it exactly? >> She said it was a bag of chips. >> Just a bag of chips. see us. >> While one officer engages with the first suspect, others remain on site at Walgreens where the second suspect is discovered hiding in the restroom. So, right now, as you know, you're detained for criminal investigation. All right? You wouldn't be in cuffs if that wasn't the case. >> You wouldn't have a taser pointed at you if that wasn't the case. All right? Trying to figure something out with Walgreens and you guys. All right? It's all it is. If it's nothing cuffs, you'll be on your way like this never happened. We'll be on our way. >> You already said something bag of chips. I would have. >> Hey, who's your partner over there right now that they're with? >> I don't know her real name. I met her walking down street. >> She's just a friend though. >> She's not family or anything? >> No, I saw her going down the street. So, >> all right. So, you're just hanging out today for the first time? >> No, we walk. We got off the bus together. >> Gotcha. But today's the first time you guys ever met or you guys just like talk here and there? >> I see around. >> All right. [clears throat] Okay. Here. All right. Hey, it's the Orlando Police Department. We know you're inside. Make it easy. Come out with your hands up. Do it now. >> Make sure we can see your hands when you walk out. >> Show me your hands. Come all the way out. All the way out, please. Hands up like that. All the way up. All the way up. Don't reach. Keep walking. Turn around. 72. >> Yeah. Give me a second. Hold on. >> Um, keep it by your car. Show up on that one. >> She was there. We screwed the other one. >> What do you got in your backpack? >> Sitting right here in front of the car. You on the phone with somebody? >> No. No earphones on. >> Okay. >> What's your name? Huh? >> You got ID on you? >> No ID. >> No ID. >> No. If you take this out, I'll be able to hear you a little bit better. >> Okay. >> Now that both suspects are in custody, officers paused to let the store decide how they'd like to proceed. >> Yeah. You want to hurry on the curb? That's fine. >> I don't know if I'll be able to get up before. >> I'll help you up if anything. I have like 1%. Am I able to get a phone amount before I go in? >> Um, we'll we'll help you out. We'll see what we we'll see what we can do. Thank you. >> So, you know why we're stopping out with you then, right? All right. I'm going to read you something. Coralin, is that how you pronounce your name? >> Yeah. >> Okay. You ever been in trouble before? You ever been arrested before? >> Yeah. All right. You have the right to remain silent. Do you understand? >> I need to hear yes or no. Oh, yes. >> Yes. Okay. Has anyone threatened you or promised you anything to get you to talk to me? >> No. Okay. All right. So, why are we out here today? >> I mean, I know I know what your your friend over there already told us. What happened to Walgreens? I need to hear from your side. >> So, from you, what happened? >> I mean, there >> you said what? >> Said um guess we're in trouble from Walgreens. >> Okay. What'd you do in the Walgreens? I don't think I paid for. >> You didn't pay for the chips? No. >> Okay. Anything else in the bag that you didn't pay for? Is that bag theirs or is that yours? >> Is yours? Okay. >> Anything else in the bag that's from Walgreens? I haven't gone over there to look at video, nothing like that. So, I don't know what what all you took. But, is there anything else in there? >> I took one thing. I took too many things. Cuz when you take anything, I guess all >> No, but I'm asking if there's anything else besides the chips. >> There's food in there. this food. Okay. >> I'm pregnant now. I'm hungry. >> He said what? >> Pregnant hungry with people. >> Okay. All right. >> Inside, the officer meets with the store manager and employees to get a full account of the theft. >> Hey there, your manager here. >> How you doing? Is that you out there? >> Okay. So, you saw me apprehend the one girl. Yes. >> Um the other girl, can you show me a picture of her >> or the >> If not, I'll do a show up with you. >> We can do a show up. >> Okay. Um >> Yeah, >> cuz um >> you can access cameras right now. >> Do you Did you guys make a report about yesterday's staff? >> No, because we was all on um we did a report through our like a Yeah. >> Okay. Like >> how much did they steal yesterday? >> You know, either we can come do a follow-up. Um I got a I got a purse >> of stuff. Yes. What do you know what they took exactly by chance? >> It's a bunch of food. I know they went down in the food area. >> That's when I spotted her. She I seen her here. >> She looked it familiar, but I'm like maybe. But then when I seen both of the ladies get together, I'm like, "Yeah, that's them from last night." But >> did you work last night? >> Yes. >> Okay, gotcha. So today, did you see you saw them conceal items? >> Yes. And then another guy in the store as well saying don't have some of the items. Did they Did they both put items inside of the bag? They both work together to steal. >> Yeah. >> Okay. That's all I'm looking for. All right. I'm going to have you fill a statement afterwards, but we're going to show up. I'm going to have to move my car and bring it closer cuz I'm on the street. >> I already read it to her and then we'll get her statement. >> Take care of that for me. >> Clarify yesterday's incident. They did an internal one. >> What do you mean? >> They did an internal thing. They didn't yesterday, too. >> Uh, they said I got I got to clarify. Man's going to show up first. >> All right. Cool. Take care of that. I'm going to get the receipt going on this. Next, the officer enters the store to retrieve an itemized list of everything the suspect tried to walk out with. >> Hi. I just need a receipt for all of this. >> Yes, sir. >> Is this yours, too? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> Um, >> you guys want to prosecute? >> Like, I came back way over here for a salad >> that we don't even have, right? It's here. 3 hours. >> I just got kids doing >> I appreciate it. >> Sounds like the one from last night you said it was internal. They didn't report it. >> Yeah. >> How much they take last night? Do you know? >> We don't know. We were all stuck on register. I got off for a moment to see where they were, but then I had to come back cuz our checkout line customers down to the pool. We had to >> Is there one item that you guys remember from yesterday buying at all that you guys saw? Uh, as far as yesterday, you guys have anything on camera that would capture them in the aisles, taking stuff? >> No. And our camera, we still don't have access to our monitor. What's the wait? We escalated again this morning. We sent another >> It's clean. I wiped it down earlier. Can you stand under it for me? >> Lock it. >> Going to see her traffic. >> Let me cancel. Thank you. He said yes. That's the other person. Okay. Thank you. >> I'm like 8 months pregnant. Just came back from his operation or something. Try to get help. >> I'm hungry. >> Yeah. The law is law, so you can't be upset. >> You said you're pregnant. >> How many months? >> Eight. >> That changes things. The officer learns the woman is pregnant and [music] chooses to handle her with more care, but that doesn't mean she'll avoid the consequences. >> Put in front. I'll wait till another officer is gone, but I'll let him know. Did you tell him you were pregnant? >> No, I didn't really get a chance. >> Yeah, cuz it was quick. >> Yeah. >> So, when do you do? like the beginning of December. >> We beginning of December, I >> think so. >> You're 8 months. We're in September. 9 months would be next month. >> Oh, >> you're keeping it for 11. >> Oh, I hope not. >> At least it feels that way. Um when I got pregnant in February, March, I haven't been getting a lot of prenatal care cuz transportation. this operation hope place >> is it for um to help you get on your feet type situation. >> Yeah, it's like a housing and uh ready for work type of program thing. >> Any luck there? >> Uh because I had financial obligations which was crazy. They said that I have to show them as clothes on the court first. >> You shouldn't be vaping anyways with a baby. >> Well, now I'm stressed out. >> That's not your thing. >> We literally just got off the bus. That's my first time taking a bus today. >> First time ever? Really? >> What? >> You said stand up. >> I couldn't hear. Okay. >> I didn't know we were going to show up at that point. >> Sorry. >> I went to grab my computer and get a receipt. >> Um, she's pregnant. >> Okay. So, you want to switch the cuffs to the front like that, right? >> With the in the front. >> Yeah. Well, that's our policy, too. >> Rotate your cuffs. >> How far along are you? >> Um, definitely not 8 months. Okay. Six. Seven. Almost seven. Go ahead and put your hand on your head. Keep it there. With paperwork in hand, the officers now prepare to escort both suspects to the station. Down. >> Oh, I forgot these are different button. All right, let's move right over here real quick. Are you taking her? >> Yeah. >> Do you have a Is that an iPhone charger? Is that an iPhone? >> Yeah. >> Do you have an iPhone charger so she can get her numbers out of it? She needs a little juice. >> I was like pocket. >> So make sure you don't get any charges. I know you said you don't. So make sure you're not happen to have anything on you against the bumper right there. Yeah. First off, my hand. >> Perfect. I have the other AirPod over here. We're going to walk to the other side. All right. Again, nothing on you, right? All right. Squeeze in. >> But yours is way stronger than >> Oh, yeah. I think the bag of chips. >> That's right. Over a bag of chips. >> Huh? >> Yep. >> Absolutely. >> I ain't even eat any ships. >> I'm about to put you in a car, get you some air conditioning cuz it's hot out here. All right. >> I'd rather sit outside and get in the police car. >> All right. You can sit out here. That's cool. That's not a problem. >> I don't have no warrants or anything like that. handle that. >> No, I need to check it out in a second though. >> I know I don't have no warrants. >> Oh, wait till I sell out unit if you want to go inside. >> Yeah, I'm uh >> I'll get them to help you ride it. >> To her, it seems absurd to be arrested over a snack, but the reality is simple. She stole and that's what matters to the officers. >> I'm going to jail with chips eating it. We're still trying to investigate what's going on. But you are detained at this time. It's not like you're free to go. >> Huh? >> You're detained. Your friend's detained right now. Okay. over a bag of chips. That's right. >> Stand you up right there in shape. >> No, I think they're good over there. >> All right, let's go. >> Thank you. It's a knife. My wallet. Um, a mask. >> Mask. >> Yeah. >> Nothing that's going to poke or stick me. No knives. >> No knives. Weapons. >> Make sure you do weapons. >> I don't have underwire stab me. I got you. >> Just kick out your legs for me. >> You're talking about at One Hope? >> Uh-huh. >> At One Hope or all these places? >> No, I'm just talking about these I'm talking about these dealers out here. Threaten you and all kind of stuff. Here, just take this. Here, just take this. I'm saying here looking for them now so they won't see me. Now I don't want to see no >> Where were you staying at before? >> The hotel down the street >> right here on that drive. >> I don't know. That's not my investigation. However, I do have to get the story. Okay. Understand that. I have to get your side of the stories cuz we already have theirs. >> It seems like we have your friends over there. I want to get your side. Okay. >> So, you have the right to remain silent. Do you understand? >> I just need a yes or no verbally. >> Oh, yes. >> Without charge. Do you understand? >> Yes. Has anyone threatened? Do you promise to do anything to get you to talk to me? >> No. >> You want us to read you guys? >> Okay. >> Okay. >> You just you just finished reading. >> So, do you know why we're here today? >> A bag of chips. >> Huh? >> Bag of chips. >> What about the bag of chips? >> She was eating chips from the store. >> She was eating her. >> Who is she? >> That's what the lady said when I was walking out. She said the lady I was talking to in the store was eating chips while I was walking around and she didn't pay for them. I think I said, "Okay, I don't know where she is." And >> now the suspect chooses to stay quiet, thinking silence might help. But what she doesn't know is that her accomplice has already spoken. >> Did you guys come in together? >> We walked in the door together. Yeah. >> Are you guys friends? >> I've already spoken to her. I've already talked to her on her side. So, whatever you say, obviously, you know, cameras will show. But what did you have? I didn't have anything. I put it back. I went in for salad. They didn't have salad. So, I put the uh what I had back on the shelf. >> Was your intention to pay for it? >> Yeah. If they had a salad, they didn't have salad. >> No, but you walked out. >> Did she have anything on her when >> I didn't find anything on her? I don't know if they want to. >> I already had those and they're my whole notebook. Yeah. But I think they were in here doing it yesterday. >> I don't remember. >> Were you here yesterday? >> I don't recall. >> H >> I don't know if I was here yesterday or day before. >> I can't remember. >> It was yesterday or the day before? No. >> Okay. Okay. So, you don't know if you were here if it was yesterday. So, [clears throat] you're saying you didn't take anything? But you're with a friend that knowing that she had more than just a bag of chips. >> I don't know what she had. I just saw her eating a bag of chips. That's what the lady said. She was eating chips. >> Okay. >> That's the lady told me. >> So why do you think you were stopped then? >> Maybe any reason. I don't know. >> You don't know? >> No. I was surprised when they pulled up on me. >> Really? >> Yeah. >> Especially when you guys came in to work together on this. >> Nothing together. You guys have been staying together. You guys are staying at the Monumental Motel trying to get back on your feet. You guys are friends. So, trying to throw her under the bus and not take the ride as well, but you guys work together. So, >> by now, the suspect seems to understand that there's nothing left to say that will lessen what's coming. >> I'm just trying to get your side of the story. >> That's all you have to say. You said I'm going to jail regardless. >> You ever been convicted >> of >> a misdemeanor of petty theft? >> I think so. >> Yeah. >> Um, >> yeah. >> If you want to pull it out. >> I mean, I can I can look real fast. You have a felony? >> But do you have a prior conviction of petty theft? >> I think so. >> Okay. >> Anything on you? >> No. I have my wallet. I have a mask. Okay. >> The fanny pack. >> I took it last time. >> Did you? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> You want just pull these two off? >> Ready? You good taking it? Huh? You good taking it? >> Yeah. Yeah. I just want another move all this stuff out of the back. >> Put your butt in first. There you go. >> If you want to. You got it. You good? >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I just got to move this stuff out of the way. >> Where's all her stuff at? >> Both suspects had prior records for theft, [music] but even without that, the officers had enough grounds to move forward with giving both women petty theft charges. Number one, woman left kids in a hot car [music] just to steal from Walmart. In our final case, officers in Sebastian, Florida, respond to a Walmart after a woman is caught switching barcodes to steal higherpriced items. Confronted on the spot, she says nothing and is quickly let out in cups. Here's what happened next. >> Can you spread your feet if you're able to? I know you've had surgery, but >> no pockets or anything? >> No, ma'am. >> All right. And you said you have an underwire bra? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Okay. Forgive me if I pinch you with my gloves. Okay. Yeah. >> Have you ever been in trouble before or anything like that? >> No. >> Can I see a thumbnail? Cuz I keep reading like that too long. >> Yeah. If you need to do that, then that's fine. >> Mhm. There you go. Is it okay? >> Yes. >> It's tight. >> Let's twist it a little bit. Ouch. 42, can you show females have 15? >> While retrieving paperwork, the officer learns the theft totaled $8367 and prepares a trespass notice >> want. So, usually anyone that is charged with theft in this specific Walmart, Sebastian Walmart, they request a trespass. Okay. Have you ever been trespassed anywhere? No. >> Okay. I'm going to explain it. Okay, so right now this right now is not a crime. Okay, it's a paper documenting that Walmart does not want you on the property anymore. Okay, so that includes the entire property, parking lot, everything like that. You can never come back here. This does not expire. This won't go away in a year or two or anything like that. It's not on your criminal history or anything like that. It's just saying that Walmart already warned you that if you come back, you're going to go to jail. Okay? So, obviously, you're not going to be able to sign it because you're in handcuffs. So, I'm just explaining it to you and I'm going to write verbally acknowledged because everything is audio and video recorded. Okay. >> My last name is not Gordon. It's Leoni Gordon even on my license. >> Okay. So, it's you have like two last names. >> Yes. It's >> So, I'll explain that when they enter it in there. I will give you your copy. It will be in your property or I can put it in your purse and [snorts] everything like that just to take with you so you can look it over at a later date. Um, this does just stay on record. So, I do want to let you know, okay, if you do come back here, you're going to go to jail for trespassing. All right. Do you have any questions about this or anything like that? Okay. It's, like I said, it's pretty standard. It's usually to prevent thefts and everything like that from Walmart. They request everyone be trespass that >> I can go I can go to that gas station though, right? >> The gas station is Walmart's property as well. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, I would honestly just steer clear away from all of Walmart and everything in it. Okay. Do you have any other questions? Okay. Like I said, you're not getting charged with trespassing. This is just saying that you're not able to be here anymore. Okay. So, if you do, you'll go to jail. All right. Hang tight for me. >> It's later revealed that two young children were left unattended in her hot vehicle while she was inside the store for almost an hour. The woman is quick to defend her side, but the officers don't hold back either. >> What I'm say is that I didn't know I was doing that wrong cuz she was 12 years old and her sister's pipe and the doors are open. They had something to drink and I pulled open the door. She said her parents do that all the time. They leave the two kids on the car. I I don't understand how we did wrong. She she can open the car. So, when you told me that the kids asked to leave the car running and you told them no, why wouldn't you just leave the car running for them? >> No. You, as far as I know, you can't leave kids in a car with a car running. >> You can't leave kids in a car, period. This is the state of Florida. Do you know how hot it gets in here? >> But it's very cool out today. I mean, when you got here, it was not that cool. It was over 75°. And it does not take a long time for heat to build up inside of cars. Remember how you sat in my patrol car when you got in and you said, "Wow, can you open up the windows? It's really hot in here." And you were only in the car for less than 10 seconds. Those children were in that car for over an hour. Ma'am, I'm going explain to you something real quick as well. When carbon dioxide builds up in your bloodstream, which is air that you keep on rebreathing over and over again, it becomes toxic. When it becomes toxic, it might cause you to hallucinate or cause you your normal faculties to become impaired to the point where you might not have the ability to open up a door. It can turn that bad that quick. Your vision starts blacking out and then it goes into black and then you pass out and then you just don't wake up. That's how carbon dioxide poisoning works. That's what happens when you shut the car doors. The windows were all up and it's really hot out. Okay? That's what happens. Especially after an hour, you're starting to look at some side effects starting to occur. Okay. >> Okay. And when EMT checked them out, they were okay though, right? >> They were okay. >> So, am I being charged with that, too? >> Yes. So, you're being charged right now with misdemeanor, retail theft, and child neglect. >> She left the children unattended in an unlocked vehicle. No supervision, no excuse. Still, she insists she hasn't done anything illegal >> even though they had access to open the car. >> Did you not understand what I just explained to you about how that ability might not have they might not have the ability to do that if they have enough carbon dioxide build up in their blood because they've been sitting in a car hot car for over an hour. >> Why didn't you just take them with you? >> I told I the little girl was on the phone with their their grandmother. Okay. And not the little girl, I'm sorry. The other girl, the bigger girl was on the phone with her grandmother and they were making arrangements to do a phone call later, like a whatever, some kind of video. Okay. And I was going to take the little one with me and she started screaming that she didn't want to go. Now, I understand what you're going to say, you know, but when the other one turned around and said, "My parents leave us all the time." I didn't see anything wrong with that because she's 12 and she's a straight A student. She's not stupid. If she was going to get hot, she could open the door. >> Ma'am, well, that didn't obviously occur because when I walked up to the door, the door hadn't been opened. I opened it. There was a bunch of heat that came out of the car door. Both kids were profusely sweating. There was moisture all over the windows of the car. They are smart. They 100% probably could open the door, but they didn't. And guess what? Again, when carbon dioxide builds up in your bloodstream, you might not have that ability to make that decision because you you got poisoning in the blood. >> Did you look at the video and see if they opened it at all the whole time I was in there? >> Ma'am, when I opened that door, there was a rush of heat coming out of there. They've been sitting there for a while. It comes down to the fact that you came in here to commit a crime inside of the store. You came in here to commit a crime and you left the children out in the car for over an hour. I didn't know it was that long. Hour. I didn't know it was that long. Sir, >> you got here at 5:53. I walked up to the car at 6:58. >> Well, they said it were in there. Then then I realized, but I didn't realize I was that long gone. >> After pushing back for so long, she's finally quiet. The officer's explanation seems to have gotten through. >> Right. But it's your job to keep track of time if you have children inside of the vehicle that are unattended, right? like you're responsible for them during this time. >> Okay. So, I question for my future. What age can you leave kid in the car? >> Can't leave them in the car. Period. >> No matter what age they are. >> No. >> Again, I'm sorry. I didn't know that. I thought it was like when you have a kid home watching another kid, you know. >> That's different. They're inside in an air conditioning home with access to food, water, and anything else that they need in a secure location. That's a lot different than a busy parking lot in a car that's not running. >> They did have food and they did have a drink. >> Okay. But the heat is what could cause them damage like internally and everything like that. Okay. Do you have any other questions? >> No. >> Okay. Oh, you want to call my husband? >> We spoke to >> We spoke to him >> again after he left. >> Is this about the groceries? >> And my purse is in there. And >> yeah, he's picking up all that stuff. Did he already leave? >> He picked the kids up and left, but he said he has to We can call him again. >> Yeah, I have his phone number. I didn't know he already left. >> You give the dispatch and have a call and see if he can come back up. Ultimately, she faced charges for seconddegree petty theft and child neglect without great bodily harm. Think they'll be back at it again?
